And, if you have a smart speaker, all you have to do is ask that smart speaker to play the Infinity Sports Network. Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals is underway. The first period is done.

Edmonton, Florida. They're tied at one goal apiece. We're currently in between the first and the second periods. And, Hickey, if we should be so lucky, if we should be so lucky, this game just goes into overtime.

Forget overtime. Let's get a shootout at the end. Why not, right? Change the rules, dammit. Why not? Why not? Last game of the year, let's just make up rules on the fly and let's just have the best ending we possibly can.

Could you imagine being a Panthers fan, not only blowing a 3-0 lead, losing in overtime? Well, I was going to say, do you drink? No? Right? Yes?

Yeah. Turn off the TV for a long time. Turn the lights out.

Just sit in your room in dark silence. Oh, jeez. Is this something you've experienced before, huh? You okay? I mean, I've seen plenty of losing, plenty of heartbreak, plenty of crushing losses to know. It sucks. Never on this stage, but I can only imagine that makes it even worse. Look, for all the travel that they've done at this point, they should just, it would be hugely disappointing.

What is it? 1945? Yeah. This is the first time since 1945 a Game 7 has taken place after a team took a 3-0 series lead. And so thank you to the Florida Panthers, who couldn't get the job done last year. And here they are this year, potentially ready to be choke artists.

I don't know. Hickey, if they lose tonight, I know they'd have a ways to go. But can we not put them slightly, just a little bit in the category of the Buffalo Bills? They're getting there, right?

Definitely getting there. And I think being up 3-0 kind of, you know, gives them an extra bump up or two, even though it's only been half of the title game appearances is Buffalo. Yeah.

Well, they're pulling up. Pretty hilarious earlier in the day before we even got to tonight's game, which again is tied up at one goal apiece after the first period. The Panthers? They said, yeah, we lost 8-1. We lost 5-3. We lost 5-1. Yeah, we blew a 3-0 series lead.

Their head coach, Paul Maurice, he's like, uh-uh. None of those losses have anything to do with today. This is what he said earlier.

I'm not concerned about the past at all, George. Our plan is set. Started last night after the game. Met this morning.

Did video. Do the same tomorrow. Get ready to play it. I know it's 3-3. So the concern of the previous three games certainly didn't affect Edmonton.

It won't affect us. Yeah, it's 3-3. It started off with y'all leading 3-0. Y'all have stunk the past three games.

You might get swept on the back end. That's more than embarrassing. That's, uh, I don't want to say that they may give him the boot, but that might be grounds for getting the boot. Anyway, he doesn't have to worry about that, at least for today.

Earlier in the day, we did learn that there was someone who didn't get the boot, but he got himself a new job. That guy's name is J.J. Reddick. He was formally introduced as the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, and J.J. Reddick, he was dropping some quotes today. I mean, one of the big questions. He was asked, hey, do you care about how the outside world feels about you, and do you care about public perception?

How do you balance that? And J.J. Reddick, he was ready to drop the F-bombs. It's a valid question, and I've certainly heard everything. It's been a really interesting six weeks or so, just in terms of being part of the engagement farming industry.

It's been really interesting. However, I don't really have a great answer for your question, because I really don't give a f***. Like, honestly, I want to coach the Lakers. I want to coach the team. I don't want to dispel anything. I don't.

I want to become a great coach in the NBA, and I want to win championships, and I want my players to maximize their careers. That's all I f***ing care about. Whoa. Tell me how you really feel, J.J. Reddick.

I think I have an idea. Well, tell me how you felt over the past week, because we know that Dan Hurley was initially offered this job before you did, and Dan Hurley said no. And so you were second place. How do you feel about that, J.J. Reddick? I was getting ready to call game one of the NBA Finals when the Dan Hurley news broke, and Rob was quick to call me. We had a great conversation. During that whole four-day period, at no point was my ego or feelings hurt or bruised in any way. Dan Hurley is a two-time national champion at UConn.

I am a two-time 55 Swiss league champion in the third and fourth grade division. Like, I understood. You know, I understood. Well, LeBron James' happiest friend is here, right? That's if LeBron James decides to stay. I'll assume that LeBron James is going to stick around.

And on the other end of the spectrum, I will also assume that this Wednesday during the NBA draft – yeah, the NBA draft is this Wednesday. You might have forgot, because who cares about anybody not named Bronny James? Everybody in Lakeland has to be happy. LeBron has to be happy. Bronny has to be happy. J.J. Reddick is happy.

I don't know if the fans are happy. And this was a little inkling. Whether you believe this or not, I leave it to you. J.J. Reddick said, I didn't talk to LeBron James throughout this entire hiring process. Listen to this. He didn't provide any advice. LeBron and I did not talk about the Lakers' job until Thursday afternoon, about 30 minutes after I was offered the job. And that was very intentional on both our parts. You know, I knew I had an understanding that he did not want to be involved in this. And for me, I didn't want to go down the path of hypotheticals with someone that I consider a friend and someone that I have a great amount of respect for. So for us, it just came down to literally Thursday afternoon. And I talked to him for about 15, 20 minutes and got off the phone.

That was it. Welcome to the Los Angeles Lakers for J.J. Reddick. Let me know what star they get. Hickey, you know, here in Atlanta, there's so many conversations about, you know, Alex Saar. He doesn't want any part of the Atlanta Hawks. He hasn't interviewed with the Hawks. He won't work out with the Hawks. The Hawks, it's been clear as day for months now, even in the season. They've got to get rid of De'Jaunte Murray or Trae Young.

We've heard this and we've gotten so many subliminal tweets and messages. Can we just not move Trae Young to L.A.? I don't know how and who pays and who goes, but like, I think Trae Young would work out with the Lakers. Anthony Davis could play defense behind him. The Lakers like stars. The Hawks are going to go nowhere regardless.

So why not? I like that idea from the Hawks perspective. I mean, I don't I guess Trae Young, it's like, what are you going to get anyway? For the most part, like the Lakers don't have a ton to offer, but who else is giving up the farm for Trae Young?

So I kind of like the fire sale approach, move off of them and kind of have it be someone else's problem. And yeah, I mean, if you're Atlanta, I like that. If you're the Lakers, I'm not sure how much better you're going to be. Maybe you're out of the play and maybe I don't think you're pushing Denver or Minnesota or anyone like that anytime soon. But if Trae Young, it seems like he has run its course in Atlanta.

You got to do something, right? If you're the Lakers, right? The Lakers just acquire stars.

They throw crap up against the wall and they see what happens. What would be any different here? I don't know. Outside of De'Jaunte Murray, who's he's he's good. He's not he's not Trae Young. He's more of an all around player, which may be beneficial to the Lakers. But the fact is, what stars are even available? And I think we've just seen through the Boston Celtics winning a championship that just running around collecting stars.

It doesn't do anything. I mean, we saw the Milwaukee Bucks say, oh, well, let's get one star out for another. This guy was more of a do it all glue guy. They bring in Damian Lillard, who self admittedly was in crap shape. And what did they win? Nothing, because their stars were hurt and they didn't fit together. Coach got fired. Just slapping teams together, slapping guys together doesn't doesn't always work.

You need some type of continuity. But the Lakers way is just let's bring in a name. I don't know any other name that would be available outside of Trae Young. And as you said and I see firsthand, Trae Young has run his course here. And I think there are a lot of fans in Atlanta who just say, oh, well, we didn't give him the best.

And oh, well, you look at Luca. And if they did half of what they did, I just like Trae Young isn't going to grow six inches in an off season. He's not going to get bigger. He's not going to get stronger.

If that were going to be the case where he's now going to play defense, I think we'd be able to have a different conversation. But looking ahead to this draft. Yeah, this is this is quiet season. I saw Victor women, Yama walking in a fashion show out in Paris. He's he's back home in a fashion show. OK, at this time last year, Victor women, Yama Hickey, they had Victor women, Yama on the six train and knew, you know, the four train going to Yankee Stadium. He was sitting down doing Good Morning America interviews. We don't have anything right now. You say Alex are not going to be riding the train this week.

They ride the train in Brooklyn. No, if he does, nobody will care. No one to recognize.

You'll be like, hey, there's a tall there's a tall guy. It must be a basketball player. But nobody knows who he is. Nobody. Right.

And so we step into this world. Where the draft has just taken a backseat and that's not what the league wants. Nobody cares about. I'm sorry, Rob Dillingham.

And you think about clinging. This draft has no juice to it whatsoever. And so and what a wild world this is for the NBA, which surprise, surprise, the Boston Celtics win a championship one week. In the very next week, the Los Angeles Lakers, they take the headlines with the hiring of J.J. Redick. And the biggest story in the draft isn't necessarily what happens with the number one overall pick. Everybody's going to be looking at probably day number two and where Brawny James goes.

That's the draft that we're looking at right now. Meanwhile, J.J. Redick, the only thing he said he's worried about right now are titles, championships. He knows he has to win one.

Otherwise he'll get the boot to listen. Sitting in this seat. I know what the expectations are. Lakers fans have some of the most passionate fans around the world. And the expectation is a championship. And so it's my job. It's our staff's job. It's Rob's job.

It's all of us to to deliver a championship caliber team. That's what I signed up for. He also said that there are no more podcasts.

So congratulations to. Wait a minute. Hickey, are we being robbed here? We can no longer listen to the musings of LeBron James and J.J. Redick. We have to watch the games. I can't hear their podcast anymore. It's over. That's right.

And I guess outside of some of the miked up segments, we will never hear them talk about basketball in a public setting again. Wow. Well, we still got Draymond Green, right? Yeah. We can hear him explain why he unfairly got ejected for like the 10th time. Oh, yeah. Well, sayonara to J.J. Redick from the broadcast booth.

You know, it's going to be it's going to be interesting. ABC ESPN went through this whole song and dance about a year ago to let go of Jeff Van Gundy. To get rid of Mark Jackson, to elevate Doc Rivers and Doris Burke into that spot. Why they thought that that trio was going to be entertaining.

I have no idea. Doc Rivers is like permanently horse. But besides that, Doc Rivers ends up taking a job in Milwaukee. He leaves. They then by default have to give this job, didn't have to, but they gave this job to J.J. Redick. J.J. Redick now leaves to take the Lakers head coaching job.

And sure, why wouldn't you? Who do they put in that seat? You got Mike Marine, Doris Burke. Hickey, who's next in line?

That's a great question. I mean, hate to say it. Is it someone like Kendrick Perkins?

Oh, no, no. I'm trying to think of ESPN's NBA roster. I mean, Austin Rivers, they've been putting on TV a lot.

Kendrick Perkins doesn't call games. He just says crazy things in the daytime, right? Yes. Yes. But I mean, also, I mean, their roster now is running thin because everyone they hire is leaving or they're firing.

So it's like they just lost four broadcasters in basically a calendar year. Doesn't Richard? Richard Jefferson calls games, right? Doesn't he? Yeah, he does. What?

Richard Jefferson, Doris Burke and Mike Brain. How about Hubie Brown? I'd listen to him. Excuse me. I'm not good.

I am sort of half jokey, but also I'm half not. Hubie Brown calls games. He can do the finals schedule once every like four days. He's the analyst. He's the Doris Burke on other shows. Right. And how old is Hubie Brown?

Like 100? He's up there. He's got a sharp basketball mind. He talks and thinks like he's 50. He does. But if you change, if you put Hubie Brown in that spot, I mean, reality is like you're going to have to change it again. No, I'm not laughing.

No, why? How long can you rely on Hubie? He's 90 years old. I thought you were saying in season.

No, not in season. I don't. I can't predict the future. And you are the oldest.

Very short term. But the oldest living person now is what? One hundred and nine, maybe one hundred ten, something like that. So Richard Jefferson. Right.

And probably 40 something. That's that all we got. Right.

And unless they don't unless they hire from the outside, but Waza product is going down the tubes. Well, most of the time I'm here on the radio anyway. I can't hear. True. Richard Jefferson is 43 years old. Hubie Brown is 90. Yeah, I think if I had a choice, I think I would.

And that's not even ageism. Can you imagine if Hubie Brown one day just said, I'm going to sue because of age? Could you imagine? He could if he wanted to, right?

Yes, he could. I mean, because I would like in all seriousness, if you just put age aside, I would say right now he's the best analyst they have. I agree. I agree. So in theory, then you would want the best analyst you have to be calling the biggest games on your network. So you've got to plan for the long term, man. Short term, long term.

You're right about that. ESPN screwed it up already because they fired they fired. They got rid of a good thing that they had and they just they kicked him to the curb. And Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson, those guys actually knew basketball.

They played. They coached. They both did it at a high level and they fired them, ironically, because they felt that, I don't know, these two guys are going to get back into coaching and good for Jeff Van Gundy. He ends up winning a championship with the Celtics as a consultant. And Mark Jackson. Well, Mark Jackson has a podcast now like everybody else. So instead of listening to J.J. Redick, you can now listen to to Mark Jackson. Congratulations to J.J. Redick. Also, speaking of coaches, congratulations to Kenny Atkinson, the new head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. You might remember him from the Brooklyn Nets, assistant coach the past couple of seasons with the Warriors. And then also congratulations to Scottie Barnes. He's going to be playing in Toronto for what will probably be an average team for the near future. Two hundred and seventy million dollars over the next five years.

855-212-4227. Second period here. Stanley Cup Finals Game 7. Edmonton and Florida are still tied at one goal apiece.

I don't think this one will be a runaway like we've seen in some of the last few games. So we'll keep you up to date. Marco Belletti will be here as well in a little bit to provide you with an update on everything going on in the world of sports. It's been a busy day in the NBA. Right before we went to break, we talked about the Los Angeles Lakers formally introducing J.J. Redick as their new head coach.

Also some new contracts handed out. Scottie Barnes gets a new deal. 270 million bucks over the next five years with the Toronto Raptors. Kenny Atkinson is the newest head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. This man has been an assistant with the Warriors the past few seasons. And was actually lauded for his work with the Brooklyn Nets in 2016 to 2020 as the Nets were deciding to rebuild. And then Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant decided to come into town and switch things up. Right before the break, we talked a little bit about the NBA draft that no one is looking forward to.

Because there's no Victor Wenbanyama. We talked about the Green Bay Packers. But then we've also made note about J.J. Redick, who is no longer going to be podcasting now that he's the new head coach of the Lakers. And I did tell you, there's someone else who I think should stop podcasting. And I'll tell you who that is in a second after I pick up the phones. 855-212-4227, Keith is calling from Baltimore, Maryland. You're on the JR Sport Reef Show.

Go ahead, Keith. Hey, thanks for taking my call, JR. You know, one of the things that I looked at, and you brought it up, the mere fact that they got rid of Jeff Angundi and Mark Jackson to see J.J. Redick leave. You know, this is one of those situations where, you know, politics kind of meet sports. I think one of the reasons why Disney made those cutbacks was because of them not getting the type of tax designation that they had been receiving in Florida. And as a result of that, they had relocated 800 workers to open up something else down in Florida. And they decided not to, and the people got less than the source, huh? A little bit too deep in the weeds here. Do you have a broader point? I know it's sports, but what I want to get to is when they make those kind of decisions, they kind of impact on the company.

But that being stated, let's face it. They're going to have to, you know, eat crow to bring somebody back in J.J. Redick's place because Mark Jackson and Van Gundy were incredible at what they did. They made laypersons understand basketball. Now, the whole thing about J.J. Redick going to the Lakers is, you know, that somebody leaked the information that about three weeks ago, they were calling around to try to get assistant coaches to back up J.J. Redick. And Sam Cassell, who's here from Baltimore, flatly turned him down. And, you know, that was the same thing that they did when they were trying to hire Tyrone Lew. They wanted to hire his coaches. And he said, hell, no. And he decided to go to the Clippers as opposed to coming with the Lakers.

And LeBron really wanted Tyrone Lew. Yeah, well, thank you, Keith. Now, I'm just asking, like, I'm trying to understand.

You've given us history, but what's your point? Well, thank you, Keith. Hickey, was he listening or talking to me or the radio or both? What was he doing? I think we got a little bit of both there. At least what he told me, and I don't know why this took so long to get there, was that ESPN has screwed their broadcast and maybe Mark Jackson will come back. OK.

They took the cheap way out. Yeah, I don't know about all that. I don't know.

I don't know. Like, if I'm Mark Jackson, I'm going to say, why am I going to sit here and I can't even do the show with my friend? OK. We know Jeff Van Gundy has already accepted a job with the Los Angeles Clippers to power up and work with someone who he formerly coached in Tyrone Lew. I'm going to see Jeff Van Gundy, you know, going back in time. And in the case of Mark Jackson, I don't think ESPN is going to revisit that because I don't think they want to go back in time.

I don't. I don't see it happening. OK. Something else that you shouldn't anticipate or see happening is J.J. Redick, as he mentioned, podcasting.

This is what J.J. Redick had to say earlier today when asked if he's going to continue some of his outside work. I am, for the time being, and hopefully it's a very, very long time, I am excommunicated from the content space. So there would be no podcast. We'll do something when I have a breather from what we have coming up.

I'm going to be drinking out of a fire hose for the next month. But at some point, we'll just do something for all the people that listened and we'll have a small little video. But I'm I'm done with podcasting for now. So everybody that supported J.J. Redick, all they get is a video at the end. Like, for what? Just to say goodbye?

You want to thank everybody you could? Whatever. Good luck to J.J. Redick with the Lakers. To me, it doesn't. I think he can work out as a head coach. What's more important is who he's going to coach on the basketball court. That's going to determine his success and whether or not he gets a year or two years. Ultimately, he ends up like Darvin Ham or Frank Vogel or Byron Scott or Luke Walton and just gets an early boot.

We'll find out. Congratulations, J.J. Redick. At least, you know, he'll be done podcasting.

Good for him. And speaking of done podcasting, I couldn't believe this when I heard it last week. Towards the end of last week.

And I wasn't here on Friday. I went to go see Kaitlyn Clark. Kelly Stafford. The wife of Matthew Stafford. She's lived quite a life. This woman has survived a brain tumor. A lot of people don't remember that.

But more recently, she sits down on podcasts and she's a little too blunt. Like if I'm Matthew Stafford, I'm saying to myself. I want a Super Bowl.

I'm a champion. Trying to keep my career going here with the Rams. Last year, Matthew Stafford had to answer questions because his wife sat on a podcast and said.

My husband is having difficulty connecting to the younger players. I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa. Why is she taking conversations that you have in your house? And why is she regurgitating that on a podcast like keep that in your house? What you say in your bedroom at your kitchen table? That's your business.

Not the world's business. Right. And that was about football. Kelly Stafford, I guess she was just feeling in the same vein to just say whatever comes to her mind. She was on the off the vine podcast.

Don't ask me what the hell that is. But she was sitting there with another woman and she was talking about her relationship with her husband, who she met at Georgia because Matthew Stafford is a Georgia bulldog. And she had the nerve to sit around and, well, give you details on how she got her husband at the time in college. Listen to this.

It's crazy. Wait, so was he trying to casually date and you were all. Yeah, girl. And I know what that was. So all of a sudden, you know, we're kind of doing this thing and then he's like, oh, I see him in a bar one night.

I'm like, what the fuck? Anyways, long story short, it wasn't that cute of a relationship at first. I hated him. I loved him. I did the backup to piss him off.

Yes. He was like, that'll do it. He was the bad boy, too.

Matthew is so sweet and southern gentleman. And the backup was the complete opposite. Yeah. Yeah.

Oh, and it upset him, which it worked. Thankfully. Yes. But yeah, at first it was that like the pivotal moment in the relationship where he was like, actually, you can't be with him.

You need to be with me. One hundred percent. He would like he would. So they lived in the same dorm because athletes lived in the same dorm and he would see my car there. And so at one point he like waited and fought and followed me out and got in my car and wouldn't get out. And he was like, this is so hot. I was like, this is working. Yeah.

I was get out of my car and he was like, I don't he's not right for you. And I was like, you know, you can't tell me that. Oh, my. Hickey, why why she why she had men stuff like this to the public.

Nobody asked for this. I guess I don't see what the big deal is, to be honest. Like, what did she say? That was so I don't know.

Criminating is not the right word, but like, I guess that's a bad look. She's she's married to this man. Right. Right. They're married.

They have kids. She's talking about something that took place. I don't know what. Almost 20 years ago about how she, you know, got down with the guy on the team to to kind of lure her husband in.

Like as a husband. Why do you why do you want your business out there like that? I don't know. I mean, I feel like if anything, it makes like it look like how much she liked him, like she wanted data. And he was kind of casually dating other girls, like she was mentioning he was dating, you know, other cheerleaders or whatever. And she in order to kind of, you know, really try to, you know, make this relationship work, like just had to do something to get under skin.

Like, I don't know. But last year she publicly shared a conversation that she had with him just flat period about the team, about the current team, about the Los Angeles Rams and how her husband can't connect with younger players. That was what she said last summer. Now she's bringing up stuff like more private conversations that she had with her husband from almost 20 years ago. If I'm Matthew Stafford, I'm saying to myself, why does my wife keep sharing with the world things that I've shared with her privately? That's what the beef is.

You just keep things in your house in your house. I guess. I mean, I'm sure for everyone on the Georgia football team and cheerleaders, I'm sure it wasn't, you know, everyone I'm sure knew about it that they were dating or casually dating or she was trying to get him back and whatever. I don't know. Of things, I'm with you, I think the last year with what you said about the teammates is absolutely crossed the line and shouldn't have been said, maybe for then on the Kelly Stafford, you know, scale, this, I don't think it's that bad.

I just think keep your husband's business between you and him, not the world. But I guess she didn't learn anything from last year. Maybe just doesn't care.

And if he doesn't care, why the hell should I? I just find it pretty ridiculous. No more podcasts for her.

I don't know who I want to stop, either her or Draymond, probably both. It's the J.R. sport we show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. When we come back, we're going to wrap things up and tell you about quite a few things that took place this day in sports history. You're listening to the J.R. sport brief.

It's the J.R. sport we show here with you on the Infinity Sports Network. Thank you to you, all 50 guys in the hospital and everybody working to make people feel better. Much love for people helping other people out. We need more of that in the world.

855 212 42 27. We need more goals. I know one thing we are going to have tonight is a Stanley Cup champion. Yes, Florida now leads two to one against Edmonton.

It's about three minutes to go in the second period and maybe just maybe the Panthers can hold on through the rest of the game. There's a whole hell of a lot more to go. Obviously, we'll keep you up to date on everything going on here on the Infinity Sports Network.

But before I do anything, before I roll out, it's very important to me. I got to tell you about a few things that happened that have taken place this day in sports history. And what is today?

It's June 24th. Back in the days when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore. But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. It's time for this day in sports history. You see, back in those days we had radio and you couldn't see anything. And it was primitive and lousy and we liked it on the J.R. sport brief show.

I wish I was 50 years younger and I'd kick your ass. It is the J.R. sport brief show here on the Infinity Sports Network. Today is June 24th. The year is 2024. I told you the NBA has its draft this upcoming Wednesday and Thursday. But if I go back to this day, June 24th in 1992, Shaquille O'Neal, he was drafted numero uno by the Orlando Magic. Listen to this, courtesy of TNT. With the first pick in the 1992 NBA draft, the Orlando Magic selects Shaquille O'Neal from Louisiana State University. Shaquille O'Neal, as he said, what? Me? The first pick?

He walks into the arena, 8,000 fans in here, cheering the first selection. Crazy how time flies, right? Shaquille O'Neal drafted number one overall this day in 1992. Let's hit that fast forward button a little bit more. This feels like yesterday, but it's not.

Back in 2010, June 24th in 2010, I have to take a breath. Jon Isner, Nicholas Mohut, they played the longest tennis match ever. We're talking about 11 hours and 5 minutes. It took place over three days because it got too dark at night for them to continue on. This is what they had to say after they finished up.

And then basically is no one. Got a little bit tired, but you know when you come out and play a match like this, the atmosphere like this, you don't feel tired really out here, even though it's exactly what we both were. This crowd was fantastic.

Nicholas, what is there to say? At this moment, it's just really painful, but like Jon said, it was just amazing to play today. We played the greatest match ever and the greatest place to play tennis. Wimbledon is the greatest tournament and we just played the greatest match ever. Yeah, thank you to ESPN and Wimbledon for making what was something ridiculously draining.

It just sounds so, I don't know, made it sound so peaceful. Them guys were tired and we were trying to play an 11 hour tennis match. June 24th, also in this day, Jon Wahl. He was selected number one overall by the Wizards.

Listen to something else ESPN did. With the first pick in the 2010 NBA draft, the Washington Wizards select Jon Wahl from the University of Kentucky. As strong as that Kentucky program is, Jon Wahl is the first Kentucky player ever selected number one overall. The injuries took away Jon Wahl. All the best to Jon Wahl.

I know his career is unfortunately done. How about June 24th, a couple of years ago, 2019? Giannis Adetokounmpo. Damn, it was 2019.

Time flies, really, it does. Giannis Adetokounmpo won NBA MVP. In his speech, oh man, thanking his family, his dad, who's now passed away. Listen to Giannis.

The 2019 KIA NBA Most Valuable Player goes to Giannis Adetokounmpo. I want to thank my dad. Obviously, you know, my dad is not here with me, but two years ago, I had to go in my head that I'm going to be the best player in the league. I'm going to do whatever it takes to help my team win and I'm going to win the MVP. And every day that I step on the floor, I always think about my dad and that motivates me and it pushes me to play harder and move forward. Even though when my body is sore, even though I don't feel like playing, I'm always going to show up and I'm always going to do the right thing. Wow, yeah. I actually had an opportunity to meet Giannis' dad years ago.

Mr. Charles was his name and I certainly remember that as well. Giannis won the MVP in 2019. Let's hit the fast forward button.

June 24th, 2021. The Cubs, they took on the Dodgers. They beat them four to nothing.

What was spectacular about it? It was a combined no hitter. Listen, Marquee Sports Network. Zach Davies started, went six.

Gave it over to Tapera, to Chafin, and now Kimbrell. Field two. Swing and a miss.

History in L.A. It's a no hitter. Four Cubs combined on the 17th no hitter in franchise history and the celebration.

Hugs for Craig Kimbrell. What a night. Yeah. There were four guys who threw it. They allowed eight guys on base. So, pretty interesting. First combined no hitter in Cubs history.

Most base runners allowed in a franchise's no hitter. There you go. I don't know if any of you guys care, but there you have it.

Also, right now, something that you should absolutely care about. The Florida Panthers still have a 2-1 lead right now over the Oilers. There's about a minute left here in the second period. The Panthers are going to try to walk away as Stanley Cup champions after having a, what was a 3-0 series lead. They don't want to lose another one. Because that means they've lost two Stanley Cups in two consecutive years. And this one, they would have gotten swept on the back end.

This would be a massive, massive embarrassment. And then also, I have to share this with you all. We just heard from Giannis Atetokounmpo. This day in 2019, Giannis won NBA MVP.

And he thanked his dad. Unfortunately, this is news that broke a few hours ago as well. Roy Jones Jr., his son over the weekend, took his life. Roy Jones Jr. said, I know a lot of people are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life.

God gives it and God should be the one to take it away. Please respect our privacy while my family and I process this loss. Thank you for the love and thank you for the support. Roy Jones Jr. has been a guest here on the JR Sport Reshow for many years before I even decided to do radio. So all the best to Roy Jones Jr.'s family as he deals with this difficult, difficult time. And much love to you.

Yes, you. Everybody out there listening. Regardless whether you're going through a good time or a tough time, hopefully these past four hours helped you get through the time. All the best to Roy Jones Jr. and you too. The JR Sport Reshow here on the Infinity Sports Network.

It's a wrap. I'm going to be back with you tomorrow at 6 p.m. Eastern, 3 Pacific. Thank you so much to Ty Dunn for joining us to talk about the Dallas Cowboys and some NFL. We've done a lot. We talked Lakers and Cowboys and NHL and NBA draft and Kaitlyn Clark and Reiss and Packers.

We did a lot. Hit rewind on the free Odyssey app. I'll be back with you tomorrow. You can find me online everywhere at JR Sport Brief. Thank you to super producer and host Ryan Hickey. But don't leave. Don't move here on the Infinity Sports Network because I might be done.

But Bart Winkler is coming up next. You'll be safe, be cool, be smooth and be well. All the love. Frick responsibly. Beer imported by Crown Import Chicago, Illinois.
