Psalms 119:93 - Knowledge Your Heart Needs

Hidden Treasures of the 119th Psalm. What a delight we get to dig around in heart knowledge today as we're in the fifth verse of the lamed section, which means heart. It also means learning and it means loving, and what you can see are very near and dear to our hearts. And so the knowledge verse of this is just absolutely amazing and something that I think we'll have fun digging around in today, so I'll just read it.

Verse 93 is the fifth verse. Again, with that anointing of the Holy Spirit that we get from Isaiah 11 will tell us that this has to do with the knowledge that our hearts need, and this is precious. So, in English, I will never forget thy precepts, for with them thou hast quickened me. Well, as we talked about, as I discovered more and more on this idea of the pakudim, this idea of the precepts that it clearly are visits of God or coming into God's presence, and it's clearly through these type of commandments, through these things that we spend time with. And if you're me, you know, when Norman Vincent Peale said, you're supposed to get up an hour early and read the Bible, that's a holy visit.

But I left out yesterday a key ingredient of what he said, because he said two things. He said, get up an hour early, then pray and read the Bible for an hour. In other words, the idea was, and he even said this, that you will never understand the Bible unless you pray. Of course, I had no understanding of what he meant, but he knew, something I didn't know, that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. And also, this idea of being in His presence.

So to read or to study His Word without being in His presence is, you know, you're missing the whole point. And so, you know, when I think about what this verse actually is, for me, when we come into His presence, as we're studying like we are today, or when we come into His presence, as I'm actually on my way to a Christian Businessmen's Committee meeting this morning, I will meet with some dear friends. We will talk about the Word of God for two or three hours and delight in all that and live life together, which we have for over 20 years. And then, you know, on Sunday, I get to do another Picodem with my special needs Sunday school class where we meet together and talk about Torah. And of course, for me, because I'm in a Christian radio station, every host that works with me that comes in that we do shows together or we record together, you know, we get a chance to share in God's Word. And we always, obviously, well, hopefully, we pray to ask, you know, God's presence to be there, because without His presence, right, we got nothing.

So I so love this concept. I mean, when you think about the knowledge that our hearts need, our hearts need to know that we need His presence, especially, you know, here we are two days before Christmas, Christmas Eve Eve, we really need His presence. And I'm not talking about with a T, I'm talking about with a C. You know, His presence is the present.

And Him coming down is the idea. And again, as I see this, and I can get a better idea of what King David, clearly his heart was here. And the reason it was here was because it said right there, in these Pecudim is where he was quickened, is where, you know, he was born again, and lit his candle so that he could go on and study all and see all these things that the light brought him, right, and the light that continues to shine through him through him by the Holy Spirit, you know, just as blessed us all, especially, you know, these times that he spent, you know, in his presence is as a result of everything that we're reading in this Psalm. And so the more that I get into the idea of these Pecudim and see how precious they were to King David, the more I realize how precious, you know, they really are to me. I can't even imagine my life, right? I get up at 4am and meet with God.

I did that this morning. And I can't imagine not coming into His presence in the morning. I can't imagine I'm not trying to stay in His presence throughout the day, which I don't always do a good job.

But this idea of Pecudim, like to say that I'll never forget them would be an understatement, right? And so I hope today as you think about your heart knowledge and your own Pecudim, what that looks like in your life, where you get a chance to meet with God, meet with other people, that you can see that that doesn't just quicken you when you were born again. It quickens you every minute that you can get into His presence because, you know, He lights our candles. And so I hope you enjoy this today. I'll look forward to, wow, Christmas Eve tomorrow.
