The church of Colossae was caught in a brewing Gnostic heresy, which saw God and spiritual things as good, but matter and created things as evil. Paul addresses this in Colossians 2:6-15, encouraging believers to cling to Christ and not be deceived by hollow and deceptive philosophies. He explains that Christ is the fullness of God, and through Him, we are brought to fullness and have been made alive in Him, dead to our sins and free from the flesh.
