So, we'll get into a little Sean Paden going to Denver, and D'Amico Ryan's going back home to the Houston Texans, where he started his career with that organization that did draft him. But, I gotta get into a little CBS Sports Radio, I guess drama you could say, or just something that became somewhat newsworthy today on the good ol' cesspool of Twitter.

So, Mraz, who works with DA in the morning on CBS Sports Radio, may be a good company guy, of course you can listen to those guys, Monday through Friday, 6 to 10 AM Eastern Time, on many of the same CBS Sports Radio affiliates, and that great free Odyssey app. I saw Mraz today put out a little video, and had a sports minute too, saying that the Philadelphia Eagle fan is a fraudulent fan, because they celebrated out in the streets after winning the NFC title game, and then missed some of, if not all, of the AFC title game between Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes, and I guess Mraz's point was, if you're a big football fan, then okay, you gotta go watch the AFC title game. But when your team individually wins, now I would kind of say, job not done yet, so I would kind of view that as you celebrate it, but am I going into the streets? I don't know if I would for an NFC championship game, but in Philadelphia it's different, and the Eagles won the NL pennant, they went out and celebrated it in the streets. So I can't really crush the fans for doing that, and I think you gotta remember, there's Eagles fans, and football fans, and sometimes both of those intersect, but you're an Eagle fan first, so I can't crush the Eagle fan for being happy, and for going into the street in Philadelphia, and celebrating going back to the Super Bowl, and maybe missing some, if not all, of the AFC title game. So, I think that could be a little bitterness from Sean, because the Giants opened up a can, or the Eagles opened up a can of whoop-ass on his Giants, and maybe he's still not over that, and he just can't stand Philadelphia to begin with, but Hickey, do you have a major, major, major problem with Mraz saying that Eagles fans are fraudulent, or do you kind of agree with him, and if that was your team, you wouldn't be caught dead celebrating in the streets? That is one of the dumbest takes I've ever heard.

Like, I'm sorry. The fact, like, I think it's sour grapes, like you said, the fact that you are criticizing a fan base for celebrating going to the Super Bowl, and getting on them because they're not watching which team they're going to play is stupidity. If I was at the game, if I was an Eagles fan, if I lived in Philadelphia, I'd be sure in the streets. But actually, you know, that's a dangerous place to be, so maybe I wouldn't, but I'd be celebrating. I'd be taking shots, drinking my face off, just trying to soak in the fact that my team is going to the Super Bowl, even if it just happened five years ago, it's still so rare, especially for a year where you didn't expect it to happen this year. Enjoy, enjoy the success, even though it's a job not done yet.

It's a tremendous accomplishment in and of itself. And, okay, either watch the highlights, rewatch the game, or, okay, you wake up the next day, the Chiefs won, okay, great, we're playing the Chiefs. You don't have to sit there and break down every single play of, oh, how is a left tackle playing? How is Brandon Graham going to match up against, against our left tackle?

We got to, you know, make sure to use a 3-4 defense. Like, what do you, what is he, he's not serious. He can't actually believe this. Well, I just love that you said that it's one of the worst takes that he's ever heard, because today, I woke up to a text. Mraz texted me at 5.48 in the morning.

I didn't see it till I got out of bed at like 8.15, 8.30. And Mraz sent a text saying, all-time bad take, like, unbelievably bad take, Zach. And I guess that they played our back and forth on DA's show today from the screenshot that Mraz sent us from Soundcheck, where the headline was, Ryan Hickey on the Zach Gelb show calmly and rightfully calls Zach an idiot for his take on the 49ers-Eagles NFC Championship game, which I just didn't like the approach by Kyle Shanahan at the end of the first half. And I thought, you need to keep yourself in the game.

And with the four-string quarterback, they shouldn't have been aggressive and keep yourself in the game, make it 14-7 when you get the ball coming out of the second half. But I thought it was funny that Mraz said it's an all-time bad take, when Mraz, then a few hours later, delivers what probably is one of the worst takes you may ever give. So it's kind of funny where the irony of that, in that earlier in the morning, Mraz is praising you for what he thinks is an all-time bad take out of me, and then you're getting on this show and saying, oh, Mraz had an all-time bad take.

So it's funny how that works in less than 24 hours. And two topics, I think you're right about one thing and wrong about another, and that's, I would say, the case here, but that is just ridiculous. Again, that's probably hatred of Eagles fans. Actually, no, it's all hatred of Eagles fans and also hatred or frustration that they got demolished in a game that most people thought was going to be close last week with Giants and Eagles. And you know what Mraz is going to do whenever you call him out and say, oh, it's just sour grapes and it's you being a salty Giants fan that your team got destroyed by the Eagles. He's going to say, I got my championships, I know what it's like to celebrate, I know what it's like to have success, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I watch all the games, I'm the greatest thing there ever is.

You know what it is? It's 100% jealousy, because I don't think anything makes Mraz happier in life than seeing his football team win. This is a guy that said he would rather have the, he would be more happier of the Giants beating the Eagles in that playoff game than the birth of, eventually, his first son.

That's what that guy said. That would be a bigger day than if he eventually had the birth of his first son, which, you know, he has two girls, that it would be a happier day if the Eagles lost to the Giants and it would be whenever he has his first son. Like, think about that. Imagine when that kid is like six or seven if Twitter is still around and goes on Twitter and says, Daddy, why don't you love me anymore?

Or why did you never love me? I can't wait for if the Eagles win and celebrate in the streets that they're bad fans because they're not watching the post-game celebration on TV. That's also going to be the next take in like two weeks if the Eagles win the Super Bowl.

Which is what? That they're bad fans for celebrating in the streets and not watching the post-game celebration on TV. You've got to watch the whole post-game. If you're a real fan, you're sitting there, you're seeing who's the MVP, you're watching the post-game locker room, you're flipping between ESPN, NFL, Network, CBS, watching all these different takes. That's what real fans do. I thought our boss, Spike Eskin, did a wonderful job today.

He goes, not everyone's father could build them a nice comfortable sports bar in Long Island. Fair point. What a savage shot by our boss in Spike Eskin. So there you go. All right, Hickey. Mraz brings us together.

When you call it Mraz, we're maybe having an all-time bad take. I like that. Well, look, we're just calling a spade a spade, right? You are fair.

You are a very fair man. All right, expectations next year for the Denver Broncos. I know you've got to still figure out who they're going to bring in this offseason.

I guess the draft doesn't really matter because they're going to have no picks. But what would be your expectation for the Broncos next season? Playoffs. I would say right now, making the playoffs.

That could change, obviously, as things go. But right now, as you sit here on January 31st, I would say you make the playoffs. Doesn't matter if it's a division winner, seven seed, make the playoffs. I would say that's a success for 2023.

Yeah, I would agree with you. I'm extremely skeptical, even though I'm a big fan of Sean Payton, that that's going to be a team that makes the playoffs this year. Because how many locks do you think there are in the AFC to make the playoffs?

You know that the four division winners go. The Chiefs are a lock. The Bengals are a lock. The Bills are a lock. Just as long as their quarterback stays healthy. Outside of those three teams, whoever wins the AFC South, so if you want to go Jacksonville or whoever, outside of those four teams or three teams and one division, are there any other locks to make the playoffs in the AFC? No, I would not say so.

And that's fair. So we got the four division winners. I do think the Chargers right now are better than the Denver Broncos. If Tua Tungavailoa could stay healthy, I do like the Dolphins better than the Denver Broncos.

The Ravens, as long as Lamar is their quarterback with that defense, I like them better than the Denver Broncos. And then there's always a team that performs drastically better than what they did the year before. Now, Tennessee was cruising, they were 7-3, and they ended up the year 7-10 losing seven games in a row. Did they figure out their quarterback this offseason? The Browns, they were 7-10, and you didn't have Deshaun Watson for an entire season. Watson did not play great when he did come back, but now able to get some reps back underneath his belt.

What does he look like once again over a full season? Steelers were 9-8, and they played Mitch Trubusky the first few weeks of the season. Full season with Kenny Pickett, do they make the playoffs? So I look around, like is it possible for the Broncos to make the playoffs?

Sure, it's possible. But right now, I think they're third in that division in the order of Chiefs, Chargers, and then you would give the edge to the Broncos over the Raiders. But if we find out that the Raiders get Tom Brady or the Raiders get Aaron Rodgers, I would probably move the Raiders in front of the Broncos. So that division is tough. And do I think the third place finisher next year will be better than the third place finisher this year where they won 6-11?

Sure. But when you have four spots taken up for division winners, and you got a bunch of those teams like in the running to go make it through wildcard spots, I just think there's better options than the Broncos. Like there's a shot they make the playoffs, but I think it's a long shot. Now, I think Sean Paden is a heck of a coach. We all know that, right? That's the obvious statement. But the big cause for concern and the emotions that I have today is, yeah, like you get Sean, you had to make a big time hire.

Wonderful job. Good move by the Denver Broncos. You had to make a big time move here after the incompetence of Nathaniel Hackett a year ago. I just don't know what Russell Wilson is. And do I think Russell Wilson is as bad as what he put out in the field this year? No. Can you blame some of it on Nathaniel Hackett? Yes. Did he play better once Nathaniel Hackett got fired?

Yes. However, I don't know what the ceiling is anymore for Russell Wilson. And for a while it was top seven quarterback, great quarterback, guy you could win a Super Bowl with. The goal, not for this year, but in future years is Sean and Russ together going to have to win a Super Bowl or this is a disaster, barring them just realizing Russ may be cooked. They get rid of Russ and then Sean finds his next true breeze or whatever the situation may be. But for next year, you're probably right. The expectation is the playoffs. I just don't feel good about them making the playoffs like if they missed the playoffs two years in a row.

And I know Sean's now the coach and he wasn't there last year. I do think the take at the end of the season, if let's say they go eight and nine and miss out on the playoffs. The attention and the focus is going to be on Russ and it's going to be OK. Russell Wilson wasn't the guy that you thought they were going to be like they would if they go eight and nine.

I know it's a low bar. They improved. They improved from last year where they were five and twelve and a laughing stock in the NFL. So the goal is the playoffs. I can't really ask for anything more than that, but I would say it's unlikely they do make the playoffs next year. And could they go out and get an explosive playmaker? Could they could they go make a deal somewhere else?

Sign someone up for agency, I guess. But that team in the Broncos, it's a tough spot. It's tough because for the next 10 years, assuming the quarterbacks, it's a healthy. You got my homes and you got Herbert in that division and they're not going anywhere. And I know Sean is a phenomenal coach, a wonderful coach. But that quarterback in Russell Wilson just concerns me.

Like you were a big Russ supporter, Hickey. And I think, you know, this year, Russell Wilson got clowned and deservedly so. And he didn't do a good job in winning over the locker room and did a lot of cringe worthy things. There's one thing to get better coaching and you can't deny that. Sean will be 10,000 times a better coach than what Nathaniel Hackett was. But if you don't have the respect of that locker room, it doesn't matter who the coach is. It does not matter who the coach is.

If the if the players don't respect the quarterback, that's a really uphill battle that you have to try to climb. Like, what do you think? I know you think they're going to make the playoffs next year. But how good do you think Russ is that next year? Top 10 quarterback.

I can get back into that. I think there's still talent there. You just it's Sean Payton getting out of him. He's the coach that's going to, I think, get it out of him.

OK, so top 10. Let me just give you some quarterbacks here. Josh Allen or Russell Wilson? Josh Allen. Would you rather have Patrick Mahomes or Russell Patrick Mahomes? Justin Herbert or Russell Wilson? Justin Herbert. Joe Burrow or Russell Wilson? Joe Burrow. Lamar Jackson or Russell Wilson?

Oof. I mean, I got to go Russ right now. I think Lamar Jackson is a better player, but the injury concerns are definitely concerned. Not on the field.

Struggling a little bit. I go Russ. Trevor Lawrence or Russell Wilson?

Just for one year. It's tough. Trevor Lawrence did look good the second half of the year. I think Trevor Lawrence is a better quarterback right now than Russ.

That's just me. But it's your list. I would probably say Russell Wilson.

Oh, interesting. And you you're a big Trevor. I like Trevor Lawrence. OK. NFC. Jalen Hurts or Russell Wilson? I'll put Jalen Hurts above him right now. Dak Prescott or Russell Wilson? I mean, Russell Wilson.

Interesting. Matthew Stafford for next year or Russell Wilson? Take Russ. Over Stafford, who you love? I do love Stafford.

Guys banged up. Kirk Cousins or Russell Wilson? I mean, I think Kirk puts up better numbers next year. He does. Do I, you know, it's almost like a wash because he put up better numbers.

But is that a guy I feel like you can really actually believe in? No. I guess, Kirk.

I don't know. That's a tough one. OK. Jared Goff or Russell Wilson?

That's a tough one. Jared Goff played really well. I think next year, I think Russell will get it back to he will be better than Jared Goff. You know, I'm fascinated that you thought more on Jared Goff than you did over Russell Wilson than Trevor Lawrence or Russell Wilson. Well, that was back and forth on Trevor Lawrence. That was a tough one. I know.

But there was like. Just looking at your face, the way that you said it about Jared Goff, I was a little bit surprised by that. Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson? I would take Aaron Rodgers. Tom Brady or Russell Wilson? Take Tom Brady, not by as wide of a margin, maybe as you would think. OK, so that is eight quarterbacks right there.

Now I'll give you some of the questionable guys. Tuatunga Vailoa or Russell Wilson? Russell Wilson. Derek Carr or Russell Wilson? Russell Wilson. Kenny Pickett or Russell Wilson? Russell Wilson. I think that's Bryce Young and the Colts or Russell Wilson? Russell Wilson. Daniel Jones or Russell Wilson? I think his ceiling is higher. I'll go Russell Wilson. Deshaun Watson is another guy with a lot of talent. Is he going to turn it around in one year? I don't know. Probably still take Russ.

I think Russell Wilson is going to be, again, bounce back, take a top ten quarterback. So if you want to add Trevor Lawrence in the next, that's about eight. Fine. Well, that's no problem. Right. And then Russ is ten. No problem with that. OK. Well, I think, again, I will know if they're eight, nine, by the way.

And like you mentioned, they struggle. I think that's when Russ, I'll be out on Russ then. If he's still struggling, not looking good with Sean Page or head coach and he can't get it out of you.

Then I think there's really no saving. I got a tweet right away. Here we go.

I just refresh my Twitter. Who is it and what's the quarterback? Who's calling me an idiot now? Russ is terrible. Is Hickey drunk? Now, this is from a guy named Ty who listens to the show in Boise, Idaho.

So on one of our great affiliate in Boise. Now, to set the record straight. And I don't think I don't think this guy, Ty. Is a a frequent hot take Hickey tweeter like, oh, what is Ryan stupid? I could be wrong, but I don't really. Never mind. I just searched his Twitter handle and Zach Gelvin.

There's not a ton about you. But there's a few asking that question before. And we're telling next year, right? Who would you rather have? Who's got the better year?

Yeah, I don't think it's watch the game, folks. Sean Payne's as a magician. Guys, a quarterback whisperer in all sense of the word. You will get it out of Russell Wilson.

Russell Wilson did not struggle last year because his arm fell off and his legs stopped working. I found this one exchange between me and this guy, Ty. He tweeted me. Ryan Hickey has a terrible palate. Skippy is elite. Jeff is for age 60 plus. Then you wrote you, bro, bro.

It's the other way around. Skippy is for the older folks. Jeff is for the people with real taste buds.

Tyra responds back. Skippy equals Tom Brady. Jeff equals Colts Carson Wentz. And then I chimed in and I go, fellas, you can't trust Hickey when it comes to food.

He is the Jamarcus Russell of food takes. That was on July 8th in twenty twenty two. Good to know. I should not even respond to Ty because this guy has no no idea what he's talking about. You know what?

That tweet. I'm sorry, Ty. I can't respect you. I think he's very commendable. You're talking about Skippy being Tom Brady of peanut butter. Skippy's wonderful. You got a lot of Skippy is one.

You have a lot of problems. Are you a fan of almond butter? I never really had it. OK.

I can't say yes. I tried almond butter the other day for the first time and I was told to put it in the fridge. Oh, it tastes delicious.

Because here's the problem. When when I first opened it, it was like very like soupy, like I hate when peanut butter is very liquidy. Means it's more natural. Yeah, but I don't like like when it gets very oily and liquidy. I don't like that in peanut butter. I would agree. But that's, you know, the healthier, the healthier, less processed peanut butter is definitely those for sure. Once again, I like a thicker peanut butter. I'm with you.

No, I agree. And then I put it in the fridge. It tasted like I was just devouring chocolate. It was delicious.

Chocolate tastes like Nutella a little bit, though. Really good. All right. He's at Gelb Show CBS Sports Radio. So get started and download the free Odyssey app today. You're listening to the Zach Gelb Show. DoubleFire33 on Twitter says, gentlemen, you got to try sunflower seed butter. Blows trash almond butter away. I've had a sunflower seed butter before. It's tasty. You know, it's very tough hickey that you try a peanut butter and you go or an almond butter sunflower seed butter. Anything that's trying to resemble peanut butter and go, yeah, I don't really like it. It's kind of tough. But there is a hierarchy and there are power rankings and everything like you could be like the eighth best team in football and not be a bad team.

But you're not winning a championship. That's kind of like the way that that we both are with peanut butter. But the one thing I'll say is almond butter and sunflower seed butter or whatever it is. I kind of look at those like dessert type of peanut butters, if that makes any sense. And what I mean by that, it's like I feel like I'm eating a dessert when I try those peanut butters. But if I'm looking for a PB&J sandwich, I'm a I'm a Skippy guy.

I know that you can't stand that. But if I'm like trying to make my smoothie. A little bit more of a dessert kind of flavor that I would throw a little almond butter or sunflower seed butter.

That's just my takes on on those two things. But you're like you claim to be the peanut butter or anything that resembles peanut butters are. So where are you at on sunflower seed butter? I've not had sunflower seed butter before.

I've had sunflower seeds a ton. So I'm you know, I could imagine what it tastes like. I don't know if I'd go dessert style like nut butter, which is basically what what we're talking about here in this depiction. I would still probably assume like if I was going to have like a peanut butter sandwich, it would be any of the three. Like I don't think I would put sunflower seed butter in ice cream or. Pair with some chocolate, like, you know, dip a brownie in all that's let me tell you not sunflower seed butter.

No, no, no. That sounds like my biggest weakness in life. Is if you put peanut butter with chocolate, you put any peanut butter with chocolate and you mix in pretzels. Like you give me a chocolate covered pretzel dipped in peanut butter, I could die. I could go right to heaven. Like if I'm on my deathbed and they go, Zach, you could have one final thing. And if you're on your deathbed, you probably want something small, right?

I can't see you like housing a steak or housing like one of your grandmother's meals or something like that. He's give me one last like sweet kick with a little peanut butter, chocolate and a pretzel. I could die a happy camper. I really I think that would cure me of any pain that I'm having.

And I would just die instantly. I can't argue that. Yeah. Peanut butter, chocolate. And if you want to add the solstice of a pretzel, it is it's a great combo.

It's undefeated. So you know how Stoner, Sirianni likes to order up that Pizza Hut and that Domino's. And what was the other thing that that Little Caesars?

It was so far only Little Caesars and Pizza Hut. Yeah. So we did Sunday night.

You know what? That was my biggest regret from being at that NFC title game. My biggest regret. What's the pizza choice tonight, coach?

I kid you not. That's what I was going to ask him. But you I was in the locker room and they they yell like, oh, coach, Sirianni's going to the podium. But that was like right when Kelsey was starting to speak and a son Redick was starting to speak.

And there was one more. Devante Smith was starting to speak. And you just hear, Sirianni's going to the podium.

And by the time you're wrapped up in the locker room, Sirianni, I walked in when Sirianni was walking out of locker room. But if I could ask them one question, because, you know, all the other Tom, Dick and Harry reporters that are there, they're going to be like, OK, coach, what about this formation? OK, coach, how does it feel to go to the Super Bowl? OK, coach, how do you do this? I would be like, coach, what's the pizza order tonight?

And I'm surprised. And I know it's been the day after kind of pizza when he's been he's been watching the games and preparing. But I'm surprised that no one asked him that in the Philadelphia media, like for those NFC title games, you get all the cheesy TV reporters. I'm surprised no one was doing a television package like the Eagles are going to the Super Bowl and the coach is having Little Caesar's pizza tonight. I'm just that's a celebratory meal.

I was surprised by that. Well, you know, next week at one of the media days. I guess the media day, that's probably going to be the only topic of conversation. Yeah.

Coach, here are the top five pizzas. Probably Guillermo is going to be there. Oh, he's awesome.

Guillermo is awesome. I love that guy when he goes to the Super Bowl and just ask the the the the questions the most like the craziest questions to all these athletes. The only other because most of those reporters that go or, you know, just that they're horrible that that ask some of those questions on media night. Like you ask some really dumb questions. Were you there for attention?

The people there ask questions for attention. J.B. Smooth always does a great job. Oh, he's there. He was there one year. He was standing behind me when it was Rams and Patriots. And he goes, Jared Goff, how does a ram defeat a goat talking about going up against Tom Brady? And he's like, you buck them, you buck them.

And then he goes and then walked away. And I was like, that was J.B. Smooth. He's recognizable voice.

You don't have to turn around here. And the minute you hear that voice, you know, it's J.B. Smooth.

So that was the comedy of one J.B. Smooth. Oh, I'm jealous. He's there.

I'd love to see him. So to my point, to my point, if I was participating in maybe some of the activities that Sirianni may or may not be participating in when he's ordering that pizza to put you in the right state of mind to order that pizza. If I was in that state of mind, I think my order would be like chocolate covered pretzels and then you just marinate those babies in peanut butter. So there you go. Anyway, quick question for you. You little disappointed with this Colts head coaching search? We got three jobs off the board. Frank Reich, hired by the Carolina Panthers, the former coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

Today you find out Mufasa. D'Amico Ryans is going back to the Texans as their head coach. You know, I got drafted by the team as defense coordinator of the Niners. You now have a trade with the Broncos and the Saints for Sean Payton going to Denver.

You got the Cardinals and the Colts left. Do you think that you'll be a fan of the hire? Like, you don't know who the hire is going to be, but the whole process doesn't seem like they're getting these good names in there.

Doesn't seem like it's a desirable job. Disappointed and encouraged. Disappointed because I would like for them to have pursued and hired Jim Harbaugh.

Not going to happen, most likely. I would have loved for them to interview Sean Payton. Did they even have a conversation with Jim?

Not that I'm aware of. And if it was, it was very quick and very secretive. That's one thing the Colts have been is very quiet.

Not much has leaked out, so they may have, but I know they definitely did not bring me in for an interview. So if there was a conversation, either he was not interested in them, they were not interested in him and no real legs or traction ever evolved. And I think it'd be more likely that Harbaugh wouldn't be interested in the Colts than the Colts not being interested in Harbaugh. You would think. But then once again, this is a, that's a dumb organization in the Colts. I mean, Chris Ballard, if you know, Jim Harbaugh wants full control and Chris Ballard's not going anywhere, that's maybe why the kibosh is put on. I have no idea.

I don't know. I would like Jim Harbaugh and I've liked for Sean Payton to get in an interview, which he was the only team out of the five the Colts in that interview, who he had that interview with. So that was a little frustrating. But otherwise, I like the fact that they are doing their due diligence. I don't mind that they brought in 13 candidates and interviewed them and have seven guys for a second interview.

I like some of the names that are there for the seven. Look, Jeff, Saturday's not going to get the job. It's a few other guys like Wink Martindale might going to get fired up for.

Probably not, although he'd look great. Those biceps on the sideline Colts be one of the most intimidating teams. Just my head coach perspective, probably outside of Mike Vrabel. Who's the coach?

Wink Martindale. I got outside of Mike Vrabel, but maybe Dan Campbell. He looks and you think that... Have you seen his guns? I get that, but that's actually a way that you think, oh, yeah, he's an intimidating looking coach on the sideline. What's that going to matter?

Like wins or losses or anything? But I'm just saying, like, that's the only way I'd be fired up for him. That would be one where I'd be pretty disappointed or not exactly thrilled. Rich Versace is OK. You're being sarcastic there with Wink Martindale's appearance, right? No, you see his arms? I always see him in sleeves. He doesn't look like he's in the most shape individual. Wink Martindale? You guys have 30 inch biceps.

Oh, yeah. I see one without his... He's massive. No, but when he has... I'll show you a photo of him in long sleeves.

He does not look as jacked as he does when he's wearing a short sleeve shirt. Outside of Mike Vrabel, Dan Campbell, there's not another head coach that would beat him up. So you got that going for you. That's going to win you games? No, it's not much. That's only I would pump you up for. But other than that... Folks, that's where the Colts head coaching search is.

This is how desperate he is and he knows this is a disaster. Oh, well, if they hire Wink Martindale, he's a jacked coach. He's a tough looking S.O.B. Bring toughness back after they were missing that last year. The Colts offense line would not be looking at Kayvon Thibodeau doing snow angels next to a decapitated Nick Foles, that's for sure.

OK, gotcha. This Colts coaching search is a disaster. It's definitely better than what the Cardinals and Broncos up until hiring Sean Payton. I know, but their process was a whole mess. Now the result worked out. Cardinals don't know what direction they're going in, that's for sure.

And the Colts do? You got your owner today tweeting... I know the guy Joey does a great job.

That's a great sign. Guess he's not getting hired. Jeff Saturday. OK, but you got Jim Erse just tweeting away. He's always on social media. When is he going to start making the right decisions again for that trash organization?

I think he's already started. He's laughing at a video of that. It's making fun of him only wanting Jeff Saturday.

That tells you one thing and one thing only. He's not hiring Jeff Saturday. That was a great tweet. OK. We love the podcast with that. That's a big tweet.

Oh my God. That's a huge, huge tweet. This is a delusional podcast. This is a fanboy delusional podcast. That's what I gather from this. I would say realistic.

I would say hard hitting. I would say you need emoji analysis. I don't think you've said anything realistic about the Colts in the last two years. That's just not me trying to poke the bear. I just laid out a realistic Colts coaching search.

No, no, no. You two years ago, Super Bowl. Definitely going to win the division this past year. It took you to like week 10 to realize that they sucked. I don't think you're realistic with the Indianapolis Colts. I would say I've given them the benefit of the doubt more than they have deserved.

All right. At least you can admit it. I will say that on CBS Sports Radio. You know, I will say even when you start to lie, you then end up finding a way to just kill people with with with your honesty.

We get you caught up on the rumors, reports and reconnaissance from the day in sports. So I saw last week Maggie and Perloff had on Romeo Dobbs.

Good job by them. They got a million, a million views over Romeo Dobbs. Just simply saying, I've never hung out with Aaron Rodgers. Now, we've talked about that. Hickey thought that was a big deal in terms of the actual quote.

I didn't. But this is Aaron Rodgers responding to that comment that Romeo Dobbs made on Maggie and Perloff. That Rodgers didn't hang out with the wide receivers outside of the facility on the Pat McAfee show. Listen, I'm 100 percent attendance on every team party. I don't know that every person can say that on the squad. So that's a chance to hang out with me in those venues.

I'm damn near 100 percent every single line dinner. So I feel like I spend a lot of time with my teammates and I love that time. Now there's obviously ones you're closer with than others. But what those guys have in common, especially Mace and Dave and Randall, is they're in their 30s. The things that I'm thinking about and doing and spending my time doing are probably different than a 21 and 22 year old.

And that was the point that I made to you, Hickey, with the age difference. I think you kind of build the camaraderie inside the locker room and where Romeo Dobbs and Christian Watson are probably going at him. What they're probably doing is probably not the scene for Aaron Rodgers anymore. Like if you're going out to a club, I can't really see Aaron Rodgers at his age going out to a club like nowadays. And I'm only 28. And I had like two tequila shots on Saturday. That used to be no problem.

Then the next day you wake up and you're like, ugh, I tasted tequila. So I can't really get on Rodgers for not hanging out with the younger players outside the facility. That's such a cop out by Aaron Rodgers. With the age difference, we don't go to the same places. Is Romeo Dobbs in the club on a Wednesday night? I don't know. You really can't get dinner?

I don't know. Or if he is, let's say Romeo Dobbs and the other young receivers are in the club every single night. All seven nights they're partying up. One night really if Aaron Rodgers said, hey, let's go to dinner, us get to know each other, or let's game night at my place. So you think Aaron Rodgers doesn't want to hang out with him?

Yes. Okay. I kind of think that's the same way that you feel about me. Because there's been many times where I'm like, oh, let's go get a beer. Let's go watch a game.

I'll invite you here. Oh, let's go get dinner. And I'm like standing outside with the boombox and you don't even show up. Yes, I say I'm going to be there and then that's a classic, classic hickey move. You are known for that. You have blown off Bill Rider a few times when he's in the city and say you're going to show up and you don't show up. So I think you're kind of like Aaron Rodgers. No. You're a jerk. You don't want to hang out with people.

Talent wise, money wise, I wish. Like we have a good relationship and we don't hang out that much outside of the office unless, right, it's on a trip. Like when we went to Vegas together, we're going to Arizona together. I think you could build camaraderie inside the locker room or inside the office and you don't need to be going out and getting dinner with. Like there's people that you're really close with that work that you never spend a single second with them outside of the office. I think it's different when it's a quarterback and receiver when you are so dependent on each other for both of your success.

Why? That you think that makes them understand how to run the route tree better or it improves timing? Well, not that specifically, but it helps you understand, okay, what do they, what kind of feedback do they get? Are they more of you got to yell in their face and remind them every single time so they get on it?

Or they need a more gentler approach when it comes to criticism? These guys are together so much inside a locker room and at the facility. You have no idea what makes them tick, what motivates them. So it's Rodgers' job to babysit and coddle everyone?

Not babysit, get to know the people you're playing with, that's all. I think it's that hard. I don't think that's that big of a deal that he's not hanging out with some of his younger teammates outside of the facility. But anyway, Aaron Rodgers says that he doesn't have to be liked by everyone.

This is courtesy of the Pat McAfee show. I love rooms. I mean, I enjoy playing with rooms. I enjoyed our conversation in the room.

I enjoyed seeing his personality come out. But there's two types of leaders. There's leaders that want to be liked first and foremost and respected second. And there's leaders that want to be respected first and foremost and liked second. And I think one type of leadership makes you make decisions that are based solely and never wanted to be the bad guy. And I've just never really resonated with that type of leadership. I want the guys to respect my work, to respect how I hold myself accountable and hold them accountable. And to me, that's how you model leadership that actually sticks and laughs in this league.

That to be said, I love my teammates and love spending time with them. And I don't give a s*** about any of the other comments outside of that. No, I will say that's where Rogers doesn't sound like a douche and sounds like a jerk.

Like your teammates are going to look at you differently as a leader if you go out and have a burger with them. I didn't really get that comment that he was making. I think he's right. I get that. Yeah. Because I think he's right.

Like for me, Russell Wilson's, I think a guy who falls into bucket number one. I'm so confused. You're the one that's advocating for him to go hang out with the guys outside the facility. So how do you defend them there? He's not talking about that. He's just talking about when it comes to leadership. Sometimes you want to be everyone's friend first. So that makes you make decisions that you don't want to hurt other people.

But sometimes the hard discussions have to be had. Whether it's putting a guy down or benching a guy. So I interpreted that based off what Romeo Dobbs said. Where then if Rogers is, let's just say, going out with the fellas night on the town. And let's say he lets his guard down a little bit and is loose and friendly and doing shots with the guys. Maybe they look at him differently. That's what I thought Rogers was kind of saying in that answer.

No, I think he's talking about just actual leadership. Just like, hey, look, I respect me first as a player. Then if you want to be friends afterwards, we can do that. But I'm going to be a leader first, not a friend first. Rogers, if you want to follow Nathaniel Hackett to the JTS Jets, Jets, Jets.

There's not a great answer I can give you. We all have certain coaches that have meant a lot to us over the years. And have created those really special rooms to play in. Obviously, Nathaniel's one of those guys. Love Hackett. Hack's my guy. We met him and we really bonded when he was in Green Bay.

He made it fun. I'm not sure what the future holds for me. But those are friendships, the ones I mentioned, that are going to last longer than football. Aaron Rogers says the Packers are having discussions on their QB future that haven't involved Rogers.

Pat McEvie, Joe. It sounds like there's already conversations going on that aren't involving me, which are interesting. Honestly, I've been insulated to a lot of that.

I was in Nashville and then I'll be up here, you know, this week playing in the tournament. So, I'm not a part of those conversations right now. When I make up my mind one way or another, then you guys and the Packers, not in that order. And everybody else will know at some point. I've said this analogy before. I used this analogy before. This is like a couple that knows they're getting divorced. They just don't want to be the first person because of their past and the good times. But now they know that that relationship is soured to say, okay, we're finally getting a divorce. But they can both sense it.

And the question just is, who's going to say, let's contact a lawyer, honey. That's what's going on right now between Rogers and the Packers. He's not going to be back next year as their quarterback. Frank Reich, who was wonderful finding that next quarterback in Indianapolis, says getting an answer at quarterback is the most important goal this offseason for his new team, the Panthers. You've got to have stability at quarterback. You know, you want to have stability at quarterback. So the good thing that I've learned in my past experience here, in the past experience in a few years, is we've learned how to adapt to different styles of quarterbacks. But that's not the ideal situation. I think what he should have said, what I learned in Indianapolis is that if I really love someone like Carson Wentz, you should do the complete opposite.

I would have respected that answer more. David Temper and why he wanted to hire an offensive coach. First off, I think it's every year we get in these NFL meetings. Every year they put some new rule to benefit the offense every single year. Every single year. And it's never going to end. It's never going to end.

Every year. And the reason it is, scoring brings eyeballs. That's what the league's about, getting eyeballs to watch the field. So I can tell you again, the new rules will be offense-minded rules.

I don't know what they are yet, but they will be offense-minded rules. So you have that challenge first. And then the second challenge you have is, and I made this mistake, I think it's a mistake to have a CEO type head coach.

That's a mistake, just in general. That's what I kind of believe. It seems like what David Temper just said, or at least the feel of it, even if he didn't say it directly, that he was going to hire an offensive coach no matter what. Now if that's the case, was Steve Wilks really given an actual chance to get the job?

Because Frank Reich does not make me jump up and down like a fat kid in a candy store. If it was between Frank Reich or Steve Wilks, I would have continued what Steve Wilks was doing in the turnaround that he was starting in Carolina. But, Hickey, that really seems like, even if it wasn't Frank, that the next coach is going to be an offensive-minded coach.

And I think most owners think that way. With the rules, with keeping your OC and not having them hire new guys all the time, they want to go offensive-minded head coach. I think the two biggest things that I look for as a coach, leadership and delegation. Because a lot of times with these coordinators, they put everything on their plate on one side of the ball and they forget about the other side of the ball.

So I think delegation is so big, and then leadership. Having command of that locker room. And we'll see what Frank Reich's going to do, like a very likable guy. He's someone that I think a lot of people respect, but what happened the last two years in Indianapolis, that concerns me. You know he's getting another job.

But I would not have hired him if I was the Carolina Panthers. Sean Pendergast will join us next to talk about the Texan siren, Tameka Ryan. We'll be right back.
