Need to know what it takes for a home to fit your budget and your family. Well, Rocket can. Coming up 20 minutes from now, we will connect with Ross Tucker and then in an hour and 20 minutes, we will chat about the wonderful officiating in the National Football League with Dean Blandino. But first up, producing this extravaganza for the next four hours. He did show up today as no other than Hot Take Hickey. When I was watching the Colts collapse, 33 to nothing, where they blow that lead to the Minnesota Vikings. And it's the largest collapse in NFL history. And that was on Saturday. I was thinking to myself, oh boy, I can't wait to talk to Hickey about this on Air Monday and just probably have fun at his expense. And then karma bit me in the ass yesterday as I saw my football team lose the game.
It may be one of the worst ways that you could ever lose a game. And here is the bottom line with the New England Patriots. And I think people have been afraid to say this. I think people have been a little bit apprehensive in terms of their analysis of the Patriots, just because you always you always give the benefit of the doubt to Bill Belichick. But let me be abundantly clear.
And you saw this yesterday, and I'm sure you could realize this by now. The Patriots in the year of 2022 are a dumb football team. They do idiotic things week after week, and it's nonsensical. Look at the approach on the offensive side of the ball. You have a guy who was a failed head coach and made his money in this league as a defensive coordinator calling the plays on the offensive side of the ball. That's been a huge gripe for me before the season, during the season, and right now even getting ready to go to week 16. But you see yesterday the approach all throughout the game was barely to throw the football down the field. And then when they go and take the lead, I know it was on Armandre Stevenson rushing touchdown, but it was set up by Mac Jones. Finally, they took the training wheels off and said you could throw the ball down the field and you got a big play there. But then after all that and the swing of emotions, and don't get me wrong, I didn't think this was a playoff team before the start of the season.
I said that. But when you are on the verge of going to eight and six, and you have everything transpired the way that it was, and at the time we didn't know what was happening between Chargers and Tennessee with the final, that game was gonna be the Jets loss earlier in the day. You're thinking to yourself, all right, this is a game where they didn't look like they should probably win through the first half, but then the Raiders are doing what the Raiders do best and that's just choke away a lead. And then the Patriots have the lead and you're thinking, okay, they're probably gonna win this game in the final three weeks of the season, maybe they could have a playoff push. So the game gets tied up, their lead goes away, and then the Patriots, they get the ball back, which first off, let's actually go in chronological order here. I'm not using this as a cop out, I'm not using this as an excuse, but there's no way that the touchdown by Keelan Cole should have been a touchdown. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry watching the game knew that he stepped out of bounds. But anyway, they ruled a touchdown, it stands, they confirm it, extra point is good. I thought McDaniel's was gonna go for two. He didn't, but he went for the extra point. So the Patriots get the ball back, and on that final play, you've seen it by now, Ramondre Stevenson is running, he laterals it to Jacoby Myers, who's like a solid player, been a good player for the Patriots, but is being asked to be the number one wide receiver. And he's not really a number one wide receiver, probably on most teams, he's a three, maybe a two. And for whatever the reasons were, Jacoby Myers, who usually is a smart player, made a really dumb decision. Because he threw the ball 15, 20 yards behind him, and the intended person he was throwing the ball to in a lateral was to Mac Jones.
Now, just let's entertain myself here on this one. Even if Mac Jones caught it, where was Mac Jones going? He would have to run 50 yards. Mac Jones, who's not the most athletic person in the world, would have to run 50 damn yards, if not more, to get in the end zone. Now, as you know, clearly he did not catch it, it was caught by Chandler Jones, the former Patriot, it was caught by Chandler Jones, the former Patriot, and he runs into the end zone. That is a pathetic way to lose a game. And it's really what the Patriots are now.
And here's the part about me that's really conflicted. Because I look at this roster, and if I just don't get it from a coaching standpoint, just Belichick. I look at this roster, the lack of talent they have on the roster should not indicate that this team going into yesterday would have seven wins and can make the postseason, and have a chance to make the postseason.
Last year, they didn't have the talent on the roster to make the postseason, and they did. So part of me wants to praise Belichick, because even with the bad roster that he constructed, which I get could be hypocritical, and then you get on Bill for not putting together the best roster. But just in terms of the coaching, it's not like they're getting the worst coaching in the world from Bill Belichick, because we know how great Belichick is, because they're in a position before yesterday, because I think they're definitely done and shot now, you don't recover from that, into making a potential playoff push heading into yesterday. So in one breath you have that, but then in another breath, it's okay, that coach, the head coach allows Patricia to be the offensive coordinator.
Joe Judge also is able to have a massive amount of say in the offensive side of the ball, and oh yeah, they keep on running screen pass after screen pass after screen pass, and they don't stretch the ball down the field. You would think in the year of 2022, this is not 1967, there would be a little vertical passing game in the NFL in the year of 2022 from your offense, but there's no approach to that week in and week out. And I just keep on going back to it, and I just keep on saying week in and week out, this team is just stupid. They have a stupid approach, they make a lot of stupid plays, and they quite frankly, don't deserve to go to the playoffs, and they won't go to the playoffs. So right now, this game annoys me so much, because even though, and I don't want people to start playing the small violin for me, I've been in the penthouse for 20 years, and now I know what it's like when you get downgrade a little bit out of the penthouse, when Tom Brady walks out the door, and the dynasty isn't gonna be built back up, and the dynasty is over, and those old things that you knew once Brady left.
But to be in a realm where your record doesn't say you're pathetic, but you play like you're pathetic, that's frustrating. Because what the Patriots did yesterday is what I've pretty much my entire life watched the Jets do. The way the Patriots lost yesterday is a jet type of loss. And I was thinking about this, and I'll get to Hickey in just a second, cuz you have the choking, collapsing Colts, and you have the pathetic Patriots. Hickey, look at us, let's cheers on a beer or something, look where we are now. But the Patriots, with the pathetic loss yesterday, just really sends a dagger into my chest, because you go, wow, they lose games that we would used to see teams just lose all around the league for years, and now you are pretty much the butt of the joke.
And that's what it is. And in some part, it's like, wow, okay, they still got the seven wins, they don't have the talent to get the seven wins. But when they get blown out by the Bears on Monday night, when they lose yesterday on one of the craziest plays you'll ever see, it just shows you that yes, don't get me wrong, I love the six championships.
Yeah, I really shouldn't be bitching all that much. But it kind of just a dagger yesterday, where, yeah, they made the playoffs last year, now they're probably not gonna make the postseason this year. But when you lose a game like that, and you see a stupid team losing a pathetic way, it kind of annoys me even more, because what are they gonna gain from this season? They've won enough games where they're not going to get this great draft pick. So you can't even capitalize off what's been a season. And the Patriots are really in the worst spot that an NFL team could be right now, because you're not bad enough where you're picking in the top five of the draft, where you could go get a creme de la creme player in the draft. You're not good enough to make the playoffs. And if you do make the playoffs, you're one and done and you just get eviscerated like the Buffalo Bills did to you last year.
But you're in that no man's land where you'll be in the middle of the pack and trying to draft someone in the middle of the pack. You see a team's fall on their face in the first 10. I just don't know how much of an immediate impact it makes for next year. So Hickey, I don't know where you stand on this because I'm sure you're embarrassed with your team's performance, but your team was already pretty much officially done. I know not mathematically eliminated yet, but there was no hope for your team to get into the playoffs. For my team, even though I wasn't believing in it, they were still right in the playoff mix. They were still right going into the day.
I think they were the seventh seed. And you think to yourself, okay, when that game, a game that they looked like they were going to lose, maybe they go off into the playoffs, but a loss like that, like we know the Colts have been bad for a little bit. A loss like that really just shows how pathetic the Patriots are. And that's why I think the Patriots lost because it's a humbling moment.
It's a moment where it gives you a dose of reality. We already knew that the Colts season was pretty much wasted anyway, where the Patriots, they were still giving you that false hope of maybe, just maybe, they would make the playoffs even though I weren't really buying it. So that's why I'm going to say the Patriot loss yesterday is worse than the Indianapolis Colts loss, even though, this is like asking which disease would you rather have? And maybe we'll bring the Buccaneers fans into this too.
Maybe we'll bring the Cowboys fans into this as well, because the Buccaneers, geez, up 17 to nothing, can't get a victory up against the Bengals. You had the Cowboys up 27 to 10, and they lose to the Jaguars in overtime. All of it is embarrassing, but I will say that the Patriots loss and the way that they lost was worse than the Colts loss, even though historically, that Colts loss is going to be remembered until someone else blows a 34, let's say, nothing lead because the Colts did 33 nothing.
So which one is worse, Hickey, before we get you to address your loss from yesterday? I would agree with you that in terms of the loss, the Patriots one is more embarrassing and worse just because it has bigger implications than the Colts. If anything, I will say, I've gotten over the history and the embarrassment of it faster than I ever expected, considering the fact that you're looking at the Colts, maybe if the Rams win tonight, having a top five pick.
So at least you could look back on the loss of it being positive at the end of the year. Whereas you're mentioning, probably this eliminates the Patriots, or if they miss the playoffs, this is the game you look back and say, that's the game we should have had that really cost us a playoff spot. The obnoxious part though, if I was putting myself in a Colts fan position, which I would never want to be a Colts fan.
But if I was putting myself in your shoes, just die right out of the gate. Like just first quarter, come out flat, do nothing. I didn't want them to win the game.
It's like, damn it. Because that was a slow death in a single game. Well, slow and also fast considering it was like halfway through the third quarter.
It's 33, nothing. I think it was eight and a half minutes left right before they scored. So it's like, it was a slow death. But also at the same time, it's like a quarter and it's like, Oh my God, there goes this game. And then over time, I feel like it was forever, just cause you knew it was inevitable.
And you know what makes us even more frustrating? Even Spike Eskenauer, boss was tweeting you on Saturday night, tweeting you like I feel bad for you. I was doing the Macarena on Saturday night. I woke up Sunday.
I was doing the worm waiting in great anticipation for this show, just to see how a down and out hickey who even though he plays the shtick off now of, Oh, it's great that they lose. I want them to get the better draft pick, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. A few weeks ago, you were yelling at me. When I, when I threw that idea out there on the table and I said, you should, two months ago, I said, you should leave the charge for Bryce young. You're like, Oh no, I want us to win the most amount of games.
No, what did I say? They're not good enough to tank. And I was wrong. I did not think they would get to this level. That's for sure.
Dead wrong. So now you're all in on lose as many games as possible, but I still know down deep when you're in the moment, because I know how sick and twisted you are when you watch this team that you, and just the way you tweet about them, you get like so excited when they do something positive. And when they're playing decent, even though the season's already a lost cause. So part of you, even though you're now going to justify this and say it helps the draft pick party, you had to be gutted on Saturday because when they were 33 to nothing, yes, it's a little frustrating. Oh, they could have played this way all throughout the year, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
The Vikings are frauds and all that. But when you lose like that, yeah. You had to be frustrated with the team still.
Oh, I was pissed because I didn't want history. Like if you're, I want them to lose the game, then you have 30 or nothing. It's like, well, okay, you better not lose this game. I don't want like history of having the biggest loss ever on record. A hundred, two years of the NFL to happen to the Colts. And that's exactly what happened. And it's so, yeah, that's why Saturday is the worst case scenario because they lost, which is good, but I mean, they forced me to root for a win, which is bad for them.
That'd want to be a laughing stock. Now I know we got to get to Ross Tucker, but real quickly, before we take the break, I just want to ask you this. I know how much you despise Josh McDaniels, but in the, on the other hand, I own, I know how much you also hate the Patriots.
Isn't that the worst thing for you too? Because in one part, it's like, okay, Zach can't kill me that much today because his team lost in an equally, if not worse way. But on the other side, you watched almost every play of that game yesterday. And I know you because you watch in spite of Josh McDaniels and you want to just see McDaniels lose in the worst way possible. And in a way that the Raiders would usually lose, that's how the Patriots lost. So how did you process the whole Raiders Patriot thing, knowing how much you hate both teams?
Can I be honest with you? I was rooting for the Raiders. I was rooting for the Raiders. I did not know how I was going to go into it. And then all of a sudden I found myself, I'm like, were you laughing?
Oh, I could. That was my only emotion. Laughter.
Good. Oh my God. And then laughing for what was, I thought a sight that I'd never see with my eyes. Well, it was real. I still can't stop laughing. Now I think about it. Now I have a smile on my face. Cause it's just so good.
It was real and it wasn't spectacular. And keep on laughing. Get those resumes ready in the newsroom. We may need a new producer 2023. You know, Hickey may not be showing up the first two days of 2023. So I might need to go get a new producer in here.

Listen and subscribe to your weirdest fears on the Odyssey app or wherever you get your podcast from. You're listening to the Zach Gelb show. We continue this Zach Gelb show coast to coast on CBS Sports Radio. Let's head out to the guest line right now and welcome in a former NFL offense lineman. He does a great job for Westwood One. Was on the call over the weekend for that insane game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Indianapolis Colts and that of course is Ross Tucker who is featured on the even money betting podcast.
You could always check out myfrontpagestory.com and we'll chat about that in just a bit. Ross, how did you process that Vikings comeback down 33 to nothing to the Colts after you had a few days now to sit on it? Well you know the craziest part about it to me Zach is it's not like every single thing went right for them. You know you look back on it and you think okay it's the great greatest comeback in NFL history right so everything must have gone their way.
That's really not the case. I mean twice in the second half the Vikings recovered fumbles and took it in for touchdowns but the officials had blown the play dead previously. Not once but twice and then Justin Jefferson has to come out of the game after Stephon Gilmore hits him in the head.
Jalen Rager comes in the game. He stops his route and causes a second since Kirk Cousins interception. I mean it's kind of wild in the sense to me Zach that they probably could have come back from 40 down if they actually got all the breaks right.
I mean they didn't actually get all the breaks at that point. Now when you're a part of some wild comeback like that like I was at 28 to 3 and it still took a while for it to really just sink in that wow what I just saw happen. Was it that moment that you're like okay wow I was just on that call or did it take a day? No I knew in the moment. I knew in the moment because pretty early on somebody had tweeted that you know since it was 33-0 it would be it would take the greatest comeback in NFL history for them to come back and then of course we referenced that. I actually had a couple buddies that knew I was doing a game that texted me that and so you knew it was a big deal and I don't really have a rooting interest obviously right. I mean you know I was talking with Jeff Saturday who's a friend before the game and I like when my friends do well but you know ultimately I kind of wanted to see history right like at that point when it was 36-21 you know it felt like it was going to happen. There was almost an air of inevitability at that point like you thought I think it's going to happen. There was just so it was 36-21 with like 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter. It felt like they had plenty of time at that point to come back and win. Ross Tucker here with us. What's the worst way to lose blowing a 33-0 lead or how the Patriots lost to the Raiders yesterday?
That's a good question. The answer is both are horrible. I think the way the Patriots did is worse because you know the comeback it's like a million different mistakes that everybody made and you could almost kind of see it coming. Whereas the Patriots that's like you thought you're going to win or at least that you're going to go to overtime in that scenario and to have a total shocker the other way. I actually think Zach like a defensive walk-off is probably the most exciting play in football. Like that Rayshawn Jenkins 6-6 for the Jaguars that is just wild you know and then obviously what Chandler Jones did with his walk-off.
It's nice when it's an offensive play like Jerick McKinnon but when it's defensive it's just so stunning and so contrary to where you're headed at at that point that it's it's unbelievable. Well I think the Patriot one is also worse is because we know the Colts had a lost season anyway and they're in this spot and they're not a good football team. The Patriots never thought they were a really good team this year but they felt like they were still alive for the playoffs and yesterday with the way that you lose a game like that for a team that has been invincible for 20 years and I know Brady's no longer there.
That's just like a pathetic loss and it's very jet-like and that doesn't usually happen to the Patriots. You know what it's a it's a great point you know what's really wild Zach I said this like first half I tweeted this at Ross Tucker NFL the Patriots are not a well coached team like I know who they're coaching but when you watch them they're on the goal line and Mac Jones scores but the receiver's moving at the snap so it's a false start I mean they leave Darren Waller uncovered down the seam they have blocked punts I mean they're not they're not a well coached team and I think it's I think it needs to be said they're just not. So I'm conflicted on that because here's why I don't think they have a lot of talent on the roster and they're seven and seven so part of me wants to praise Belichick but the way that I would say it Ross Tucker is I just think they're a stupid team the approach makes no sense with Patricia as an offensive coordinator and that Jacoby Myers play yesterday when you get the ball why are you throwing it to Mac Jones what is Mac Jones gonna do and try to cut up field what 50 yards they're just a dumb team. Yeah but isn't it the coach's job to either make sure the players that are out there know what to do or don't play dumb players right I mean you know when I was there Zach oh five and oh six they just wouldn't have had guys playing that would do things like that I don't know how else to describe it but that's kind of how I look at it I mean I just don't really think that they would have players like that those guys got cut when I was there and it does seem like they have a number of those guys there so that that surprised me really surprised me because they didn't allow that to happen when I was there and I don't know if it would have been Brady being like hey guys like get as many yards as you can but go down but there was obviously no communication there and I think they thought it was just a draw but then Stevenson got enough yards that he thought if I lateral some we might be able to do something and then when Myers got the lateral I just think he totally lost sight of game clock and situation. We all know what Belichick has accomplished in this league is his seat though warm like it sounds like a stupid question to ask but it's just one that I'm wondering about Ross Tucker.
It's not it's not warm in the sense that he could get fired I think it's warm in the sense that he's going to have a very different conversation with Robert Kraft probably after this season than he's ever had before because I really do think that Kraft is going to say what what are we doing here you know what what are we doing in this situation at offensive coordinator why are we so poorly coached why do we look like this I really do think that Robert Kraft should ask a lot of questions and rightfully so. And I don't know what Mac Jones is as a quarterback because they're not putting him in a position to succeed Ross like that's the most frustrating part with this Patriot season for me. Yeah I I think that's true it's hard to imagine that he's gotten this much worse from last year and obviously you know that's the thing about um thing about football is you know it's not it's never really a controlled scientific experiment right right where you only remove one variable it's not just just Josh McDaniel's that changed there are some different players and you know you're also in a situation where it's a second year for Mac Jones a lot of times I've seen Zach is they put more on the quarterback in year two right like they have a good rookie year you're feeling good about it but you're like man we had a good rookie year he's good we got a good quarterback we know he can make this check he could have us do this he could have us do that although when I watch the Patriots it actually seems like the opposite it actually seems like they trust him less that it's all this underneath wide receiver screen all that kind of stuff you know. I don't think Patricia trusts him at all and I don't trust Matt Patricia so I give the benefit to Mac Jones on that one because the Patricia thing has so lost me it made no sense from the start and I'm like okay you know I guess you give the benefit of the doubt to Belichick but other than that Minnesota game I haven't seen anything really positive from this offense in their approach no uh me neither I mean well that's the only game where they could throw the ball Mac Jones looked good yeah you know they tried to throw it down the field yeah you know they're they're trying I think to win the way they did early in the Belichick era early in the gradient right I think they want to keep the score low run the ball play good defense and not screw up the problem is they they screw up a lot yeah I mean that's yeah they do you're not wrong Ross Tucker here with us so I saw Adam Schefter is reporting that uh it's uncertain if Jalen Hurts is going to be able to go against the Cowboys due to a sprained shoulder that he suffered yesterday in the win over the Bears now uh hurts his agent Nicole Lynn said they don't believe that this is a long-term injury uh when I look at the NFC with that being said before that news I would say the Eagles 49ers the only two teams that could get to a Super Bowl where are you with the uncertainty now on Jalen Hurts and what that does for the Eagles chances well I'm not that concerned about hurts because he made some incredible throws after he clearly suffered the injury so I mean he suffered the injury in the third quarter you go back and watch that game he made some awesome throws to AJ Brown and Devante Smith to win the game so usually if a guy's able to come back in the game or stay in the game in that case and do that he's usually going to be fine and I think that's the case with hurts but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they had him sit out the game on Saturday and maybe the game after that although they need to win at least one of these last three games to make sure they have the number one seed and and home field advantage so but it wouldn't be surprised if they at least let him rest this one and then maybe depending on how things go he plays against New Orleans the week after. Lions and Jaguars Ross Tucker will either then make the playoffs both but what are your thoughts on those two teams? Man I hope they both make the playoffs I don't know if that's what you just said Zach but wow I mean you know you want the teams that are playing the best right to make the playoffs you want the teams that are the most exciting and especially teams like this that have been so bad for so long yeah I like want it for their fans right plus it'd be fun I mean the Lions are playing well they could give this thing a run the Jaguars Trevor Lawrence three out of the last four games he has been awesome absolutely awesome so yeah man I mean I I would love to see them both get it I don't know if it's gonna happen but I'd love to see it for sure. You mentioned the calls in the in the Vikings game the two touchdowns that were taken off the board a lot of people thought that Keelan Cole was out for the Raiders and then we saw what happened on Sunday Night Football with the commanders on the no P.I. and then the Terry McLaurin illegal shift just what stood out to you from the bad officiating and the bad reviews yesterday?
Really disappointing you know really disappointing you know the Keelan Cole I'm okay with because they utilized technology they looked at it as close as they could from so many different angles they couldn't definitively change it and I'm sort of of the mindset that when in doubt not only when in doubt you know keep the call on the field but also when in doubt like give them the bend for the doubt for the touchdown as for you know the Vikings calls really disappointing really disappointing because they're actually taught to let the play play out that's the part that bothered me the most in that instance I felt like the officials went against what they're told and instructed to do that's the part that bothers me there and then in Washington the first one's weird because it feels like it was a miscommunication between the line judge and McLaurin McLaurin thought he said he was okay and I think the line judge was saying you got to get up on the line like pointing at the line rather than saying you're okay the pass interference it appeared to me like the official just had a bad angle but that was obviously pass interference that said you still got to score the touchdown then you still got to get the two-point conversion but it's always disappointing when you feel like a clear foul was not flagged. Two days away from Christmas it's also Hanukkah right now as well myfrontpagestory.com you've been telling me about this for years how can people get a part of this and get a pretty memorable gift? professional parts people at O'Reilly auto parts O O O O O O O O'Reilly auto parts let's get to some of the questionable calls from yesterday hot take he can't get this one out of the way first I'm not crazy here because they don't people know people are gonna say but you're a patreon fan so of course you're gonna say this I just shredded my team for the better part of 45 minutes and said they're a stupid football team they're a pathetic football team so if you're gonna bring that nonsense to the table go listen to another show but I will defend them in one aspect that the Keelan Cole catch was not a catch I wasn't watching something else that everyone else was watching right Hickey that should have been overturned that should have been ruled no catch if it was me it did not like a catch Wow and I will say it's I think even more embarrassing than having a call stand is not having the right angle to get the call so I saw something from one of these media critics I forget I forget which one it was but they made the point that that game was originally on Sunday Night Football and because it was not expected to be this great game between the Patriots and the Raiders they flexed it out and it got to 4 25 p.m. Eastern Time on Fox or four o'clock whatever the start time was on Fox if they would have had Sunday Night Football they would have had the NBC pile-on cameras and there's a belief then then it would have been overturned now let me just simply ask this we talked about how much money the NFL makes how do they not find the way especially with how much these TV partners are as well but regardless the NFL how do you have every angle possible with the billions and billions and billions of dollars that you make each and every year and I was saying a line on football when it happened I go where's the zoom in angle because usually they zoom in and they could show you right on the line and still even from the overhead view it did look like his foot was out of bounds and his cleat is a pretty much a white cleat and it also is a mixture of white and black on the cleat so there's some people saying all in the end zone because you could you can't see the tip of the cleat which is black and people are saying oh yeah they see that shows it was inbound so no no that's the color of his cleat and it is on the white line so there's no doubt about it to me that he was out of bounds so we can move that push that aside but I thought it was interesting Hickey that if the game was on NBC maybe we never even see the Chandler Jones play but it's like especially in a corner of an engine that's very popular for touchdown receptions you would think you would have a camera somewhere where that's a pylon camp another angle in the stands you could make sure to family when so many passes thrown in the back corner the end zone can we make sure the feet are down instead of one that I mean what is that and on the roof the chemical he was on the roof zoomed out of the end zone that's the best thing we have and Belichick's been one of the coaches or the coach for years that has said everything should be reviewable and not only that he said that they should have a pylon and a goal line pretty much cam as well that's what he thinks should be for every single game so Belichick has said that for years now let's get to the Vikings thing quickly we'll go from my team to then your team the Colts but the Minnesota Vikings they had the same player Chandler Sullivan get two touchdowns taken off the board when the Colts fumbled the ball twice and he picked it up and he was clearly in the end zone both times but it was whistled dead the first one all right there's a I think it was Pittman there's a bit of a wrap-up I still thought that it was an obvious fumble and the touchdown should happen they should not have blown the whistle dead but we've seen that from time to time a quick whistle happens but on the second one the ball is clearly out the second one I both were egregious but I thought the second one was more egregious thank you the second one's so obvious like it was a running back in a pile the ball was punched out and it's like but I think that area Smith no day like he was standing up for it it wasn't like one of those high Nikki from last time where he was like going down and then they rolled it down then reversed it it was he just clear as day standing up in a pile punched out so I have no idea how they missed that second one it was embarrassing and I forgot about the first one and who the player was and then the second time because Sullivan was ripping off his helmet and he was going berserk oh in that moment you gotta know even though you're frustrated to not lose your cool but I can't really blame him hickey because if that happened to like once not that it should be expected not that you should be understanding of it but to happen twice to the same player and it's not an offense but it's offensive player defensive touchdown to get two of those plays called back because of a a whistle that was blown early and it happened to the same defender that to me is it's it's inconceivable I would have lost my mind as well and also how many times do you see obvious incompletions or guys down like like oh actually he was down and it's like here to jump the gun it makes no sense and as Ross said they're taught to let the play play out if it's close let it play out and you could always then go back and overturn it if you needed to or something like that um now the commanders and I know we got to move quickly because we got two minutes before we got to take a break I thought it was PI last night I thought it should have been called last night at the end of the game my biggest problem is if you're gonna call something so ticky tacky about where you on the line of scrimmage or not where so the tackles not the the lone guy that's out there in Ireland which can't happen which the legal formation when mclaurin is saying to the ref am i good am i good am i good and the ref either said you're good or keep on moving up and mclaurin misheard him which could be a possibility that it was a miscommunication but if you're gonna call something that is that kind of ticky tacky and then you don't call the pass interference which was clear and obvious and mclaurin had to scoot up obviously but if you don't call the pass interference to me there's just no consistency and that's all I ask from referees don't be inconsistent I want to see consistency from my officials I get on judgment calls and things like that that it's not always going to be consistent but when you have it like that bang bang and it takes a touchdown off the board and then it prevents a team from scoring a touchdown extremely frustrating as a viewer that didn't have a dog in a fight last night I don't mind like especially towards it I don't mind physical playing the ref swallowing the whistle but you're right you can't have straight though over him a a call that is extremely rare and very technical and really not needed and then the next play have him guy get mauled and then also just swallow the whistle there so you can't have both ways especially when it's back-to-back plays we're so I mean so obvious darn it Holmes I think grabbed him and basically tackled him five times square dancing with him that was unreal that was crazy so just terrible officiating and terrible reviews all throughout the weekend how many times in the commanders game do they overturn things because the officials are wrong and at the end of the game they still couldn't get a damn thing right Dean Blandino good to join us coming up at 7 20 p.m. Eastern 4 20 p.m. Pacific so we will chat with him in 25 minutes from
