The Denver Broncos have officially released Russell Wilson to no surprise. But also the quarterbacks are the biggest topic. Because about a week and a half ago it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Justin Fields is going to wind up in Atlanta. Now a lot of reporting the sentiment is Kirk Cousins is going to be the guy that Atlanta is going after. After the NFL combine, the stock of JJ McCarthy is rising, rising, rising.

I don't know how much I believe that. I said all along that McCarthy to me is my fifth best quarterback in this draft class. I would say number one is Caleb Williams, two Jayden Daniels, three Drake May, four Michael Penix Jr. and five JJ McCarthy. But I did say a week ago that I do believe McCarthy is going to be a first round pick.

And I do think McCarthy, even though I like Penix better, is going to go before Michael Penix Jr. I do believe that JJ McCarthy is going to be the fourth quarterback off the board in this draft class. And then there's speculation about Baker Mayfield and his future. Now we know today the Bucks got one domino to fall and it was a big one in Mike Evans.

That was surprising. I thought Mike Evans would go elsewhere. He wants to be a Buccaneer for life or try to be. Two-year contract for Mike Evans, $52 million is the contract.

$35 million is fully guaranteed. So with all the speculation about quarterbacks, what we're going to do now is Samter is going to give me the quarterback. And I'm just going to tell you not where they will go, but where I want them to go. When you factor in storylines, fit, maybe there's a connection, something like that, where I just think it would be a good fit and it would be a juicy storyline as well. So Samter, take it away. You give me the quarterback, I'll give you the team where I want them to go.

Well, I mean, this feels pretty immediate right now, considering of what just happened last hour. Russell Wilson no longer with the Broncos. Where do you want him to end up? Raiders, Raiders. I want Russell Wilson to go to Las Vegas to just stick it to Sean Payton. I don't think Russ is a great quarterback.

Duh. That's why he just got released. That's why it's the largest dead cat pit in NFL history. But Russ could still play some good football. He improved this year as a quarterback. He went from his stock from being into the toilet to getting unclogged a little bit. And now we'll see when the toilet's going to get clogged again. But you put Russell Wilson on the Raiders and we get to see him go directly up against Sean twice a year in Denver. That would be fun. And you're going to get him on a cheap deal.

So there's no long term risk. And not only that, it's a stop cap guy. And you could maybe go get your quarterback of the future in the draft this year or next year and have Russ be the mentor. And Russ, who doesn't have really any bargaining power or any wiggle room to make a mistake, so he has to be a perfect teammate or else he's going to be out of the league in short order. So I want to see Russ go to Las Vegas because at least I get to see him battle it out against the team that just released him and give him a raw deal, not the contract. I'm just saying an opportunity to succeed this year because Sean already had his mind made up about Russell Wilson before he even stepped foot in the building with the Denver Broncos. So I'm on the Russell Wilson to the Raider train.

Let me ask Stu, though, real quickly. That's the more important opinion. I mean, nothing against you, but coming from a Raiders fan. I mean, this is valuable. As I said, 33.3% on this show until there's a big critical decision.

This is not a big critical decision. And when I talk about the Raiders. Santa, I can't call you an expert on the Raiders.

I can't call myself an expert on the Raiders, but there is one person in this studio that has their life impacted by the Raiders. Stu is always a miserable looking human being during the football season. Any other time that we're not in football season, Stu's walking around like the nicest person in the world. Everyone loves Stu, but in football season, he could be a royal pain in the ass because he gets moody but we all give him a pass because we understand why he gets moody. It's because nine times out of ten, his football team usually sucks and they do things that make no sense.

So Stu, or actually, let me make this proper in this conversation. Stuart, we get a breaking news alert in three weeks from now. The Raiders have signed Russell Wilson to a one-year deal. $10 million? $15 million? He could even be that high with all the money that Russ has guaranteed coming his way, but one-year deal for Russell Wilson at a low cost. You are saying?

I'm in. I'm happy. It is definitely not something I thought I would say, you know, maybe a few months ago, but I would be happy with him. He's not my first choice. Obviously, guys like Kirk Cousins and Justin Fields would probably be one and two, or trading up into the top three of the draft. But aside from those, which all think are probably unlikely, I would take Russell Wilson, definitely.

And also, let's peel back the curtain here. Stu's best friend in life is Anthony Gallo, who works here at CBS Sports Radio and WFAN down the hall. Gallo is the biggest Bronco fan that anyone in this building knows, and he's obnoxious about his love for the Denver Broncos.

He is. And Stu doesn't get many victories in football, but this would be like your Super Bowl if Russell Wilson can go to Las Vegas and be better than the Denver Broncos and beat them twice a year. So you could just talk crap to your buddy Gallo. Yeah, that would be a nice added bonus.

I would definitely agree with you on that. So we know what's going to happen here. 13th pick of the draft. Raiders take bonics. Oh, that would be just terrible.

Terrible for Stu. I do think, though, the Raiders, if they're going to move up, they need two things to happen for their ideal plan to work. Number one, it needs to be Williams and then Drake may go one and two, which I don't think it's going to be the case. But I think if they're going to move up, it's only gonna be for one guy. And that's going to be for Jayden Daniels with the connection that Antonio Pierce has with Jayden Daniels, going back to their days together at Arizona State.

And I would not be happy. This would be good for the show, but I would not be happy with Jayden Daniels on the board if the Patriots move back to 13, because then I don't get Jayden Daniels and then I don't get Marvin Harrison Jr. It's too far of a move back, but I could get a bunch of future first round picks and hope that the Raiders just continue to be the Raiders. But that's the one guy I think the Raiders would move up to go get in the draft. And it's Jayden Daniels. Outside of that, they take a quarterback in the first round. I don't know if I love that.

Alrighty. Next quarterback. Samter?

Well, we talked about him a little bit earlier on in the show. How about Kirk Cousins? Where do you want him to go? You like that?

You like that? Atlanta. And I said it earlier.

I'll say it again. I don't ever believe Kirk Cousins wins a Super Bowl in Atlanta. Hot take. But the take I would have is I could see, now they definitely will, but I could see the Falcons having a ceiling of making the NFC title game next year with Kirk Cousins as their quarterback. That team on offense, which is crazy because Arthur Smith is an offensive-minded coach, was just ran horribly last year. This team has talent. Bijan, Algier, Drake London, Kyle Pitts will instantly perform better with Kirk Cousins as his quarterback and a new offensive mind in that building. That defense, I know you have a new defensive coordinator because the DC that they brought in took the Jaguars' job at the uncertainty of the coaching staff. But you bring in a defensive mind, the head coach Raheem Morris, that defense played well last year.

That defense improved and they have a good young secondary. So I would like to see Kirk Cousins land in the ATL. All right, how about Baker Mayfield?

Baker Mayfield was in Tampa. They just re-signed Mike Evans. So do you think Baker stays? Do you think Baker should? Do you want to see Baker stay with Mike Evans?

Or do you have other thoughts in mind? Yeah, I want to see Baker Mayfield stay with Tampa Bay because Evans is back. It would suck for Mike Evans to be so loyal to Tampa Bay. And I'm not saying that Baker Mayfield's a Hall of Fame quarterback. Obviously, he's not. But then you don't bring back the guy that he just had a good connection with.

And I don't think there's a great alternative out there or an upgrade out there. Like, I don't believe Kirk Cousins is going to Tampa Bay. It would be better quarterback than Baker Mayfield. I don't believe Justin Fields is getting traded to Tampa Bay. I think you run it back with Baker on a fair three or four-year deal. You structure it the right way with the guaranteed money and all that, where you kind of make it really a two-year deal that gives you some outs and insurance in case Baker's not the guy that he just showed this past season. But I like what Tampa Bay did this past year. I would bring back Baker Mayfield.

I would like to see that marriage continue. All right, how about if Justin Fields isn't going to Atlanta, where do you want to see him go? Colac, Minnesota, the Minnesota Vikings. And similarly to what I just said about Russell Wilson, I like to see a quarterback staying in division and you get that rivalry. It would be fun when you look at that NFC North and you know what the Lions are, you know what the Packers are building right now, but you have the Bears make their move on Caleb Williams and then Justin Fields gets traded in division.

There may be a tax for that. So you may have to pay a little bit more than some other teams outside of the division. And you have Fields going up against the Bears twice a year. And oh yeah, by the way, Fields gets the explosive Justin Jefferson. Addison is going to be a really good wide receiver in this league. TJ Hockinson is on that roster. And Minnesota really doesn't have much of the running back position. And you bring in a quarterback that has a lot of mobility, there'll be a ton of yards gained on the ground. That would just be a fun Madden type of offense in Minnesota. So I would like to see Justin Fields land in Minnesota.

All right, now we're going to start looking a little bit towards the draft. Caleb Williams, where would you like to see him go? The Bears have needed a quarterback forever.

Forever. And you hear that Caleb Williams supposed to be a transcendent quarterback. I want the people of Chicago that have been tortured for years to actually get that guy.

So I would say Caleb Williams to the Bears is where I want to see him go. Now, I will just issue this where I'm sure Ryan Polls is actively monitoring this. We have a mush here on CBS Sports Radio. We have someone on CBS Sports Radio who is wrong 9.8 times out of 10. Not me. No, you're not 9.8 times out of 10.

I mean, go Chiefs. Well, all of us are more wrong than we're right. It's just the nature of this beast. But this person has unique ability to be as wrong as anyone has ever been able to be wrong in the history of sports talk radio. And that's hot take Hickey.

And this video was released an hour ago. I'll give Hickey a little plug here, a little pop. I like Hickey. Ryan underscore Hickey three. Caleb Williams to me is bus proof.

Williams is someone that I think five years from now is going to be pushing Patrick Mahomes to be the best quarterback in the NFL. Ryan Polls, you may want to rethink about drafting Caleb Williams now because a hot take Hickey. This is the same Hickey that predicted USC was going to win the national championship this year.

And how did that work out? Not great. They didn't even come close to making the playoff, win a national championship or even competing for a Pac-12 championship. So Hickey is doubling down here, his love for USC to now his love for Caleb Williams. And I just hope that when we're sitting here five years from now, we're not saying Caleb Williams is the biggest bus maybe in NFL history because a hot take Hickey.

So be careful there. Man, I feel so bad for Caleb Williams. He had such promise.

And then man, that's the wrong horse back to him. How about Drake May? Do you think he goes number two, number three, drops down later? Where would you like to see him go? So I'm going to be selfish here.

A lot of times I try to keep my fandom out of this. I do not want Drake May as the quarterback of the Patriots. I just think Drake May ceiling is being good. I don't dislike Drake May, but I don't ever think he'll be a top five, top 10 quarterback in the NFL that we're going to look back and say, wow, he's a great player.

Wow. He's a hall of fame quarterback. And I look at Drake May and I have a big fear that he's going to wind up being the quarterback of my team. And there is a potential, assuming that we're going to the draft once again this year, for Zach Gelb to have a live meltdown on the air if it goes as followed.

With the first pick of the draft, the Chicago Bears select Caleb Williams for some reason. I don't know why whenever you do the draft voice, I try to still sound like the old commissioner, Paul Taglia booth. I never try to sound like Roger Goodell.

You don't want to sound like Roger Goodell. Then the second pick of the draft, the Washington commanders select Jayden Daniels. If that happens and then Drake May's the pick at three for the Patriots, I won't be happy. So with that being said, I want Drake May to be the quarterback.

I want him to go to the Washington commanders because I want Daniels at three if my Pats are taking a quarterback. So I guess you're disagreeing with Charles Davis last hour who said he thinks the commanders are likely or should go with Jayden Daniels too. No, I think that's what's going to happen. Right. But you don't want to see that happen. No, I don't want to see that happen, but I think that's what's going to happen. I fully, I fully agree with Charles that Jayden Daniels is the second best quarterback in this draft.

Interesting. It's so funny how year in and year out, there's always, you know, especially when there's a quarterback that's like the guy, right? Like Trevor Lawrence a couple of years ago, Justin Fields for like two years was like he's number two for sure behind Trevor Lawrence. And then out of nowhere, Zach Wilson has a good year for BYU and he takes that spot and Justin Fields drops.

Now granted, Justin Fields hasn't lived up to expectations, neither has Trevor Lawrence or any of those other quarterbacks. But I find it so interesting when a guy who's been groomed to be that guy for so long and expected to be that guy for so long gets bumped down by the next hot commodity who looks really good that maybe Jayden Daniels is the guy. Maybe he really is the next Joe Burrow who like sucked at one team, went to another program like LSU and dominated, won a Heisman and was great. And now he's great in the NFL. Maybe that's Jayden Daniels. I saw him at ASU.

He sucked. So like, I don't, the idea that he's the second best quarterback in this draft behind Drake May, who's been, we've been talking about him for 20 months as like the guy behind Caleb Williams. But I never loved Drake May. I've never said on this show that I love Drake May. I'm just saying just collectively, Drake May has been for the past year and a half before the season even started, it was Caleb won, Drake May too.

We'll see what else happens after that. Fair or not, and I don't think this is fair, but recent school history impacts people's minds. Mitch Trubisky was at UNC and you have Drake May at UNC. Now, how many times people say you can't draft an Ohio State quarterback and look what just happened to CJ Stroud. How many times you say Jeff Tedford and those Cal quarterbacks could not succeed and boom, Aaron Rodgers. Exactly.

But I think that impacts the way that people view it. Now, Jayden Daniels, why I like him more than Drake May, I just think there's a higher upside. The guy had 1100 yards rushing the football. I know Drake May is mobile, but he's not 1100 yards rushing the football and he tossed 40 touchdown passes.

Now I get it. There were a lot of great other players, especially at the receiving room at LSU, but I just think there's a higher upside with Daniels over May from the football that I watched this year. And listen, I'm not knocking Lamar Jackson because I love him and the Michael Vick's of the world. But like those quarterbacks historically don't win Super Bowls outside of Steve Young. And if you want to count John Elway in that group of like running quarterbacks, for the most part, the winning quarterbacks in the Super Bowl are pocket passes. So I'm not knocking the idea of the running quarterback.

I'm just saying, generally speaking, historically, we haven't seen them win titles. But also, we're now in a new NFL and they still haven't won titles. For years, quarterbacks weren't like really supposed to run. Right, but we have running quarterbacks and they're still not winning.

It's still the Patrick Mahomes and the Tom Brady's. Yeah, but Mahomes has a lot of mobility. Mahomes doesn't run down the field. He runs around the pocket where he basically runs 400 yards.

It feels like a game, but none of it is north. He's just running sideline to sideline. We're not saying that for Jayden Daniels. We're calling Jayden Daniels similar to Lamar Jackson. Same thing with Josh Allen. He can run the ball. The guy can be a 1000 yard rusher if you want to do. Justin Fields, those guys can be great. They can be electric, but they apparently, at least for now, don't win championships.

So we'll see if that trend changes, but at least for now, it's not there. Let's move on to the other quarterbacks in the draft. JJ McCarthy out of Michigan.

Where do you like to see him go? I think the perfect fit for JJ McCarthy, the Seattle Seahawks. JJ McCarthy doesn't need to play in year one. It's not the worst thing in the world to have him sit behind a quarterback. Geno Smith is a serviceable quarterback in the NFL right now, but he's not a franchise quarterback.

And you also want to land in a good situation. You have a Michigan guy, Mike McDonald, taking over as the new head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. And not only that, you have a wide receiving room that has a lot of talent and young talent with DK Metcalf and then also with Jackson Smith and Jigba. And in all likelihood, Tyler Lockett with two years left. He could be a trade candidate this offseason.

But going to a place with young talent on the offensive side of the ball is important, and there's no rush to play. And the Seahawks have that in the running back room with Kenneth Walker. Zach Charbonnet as well. I know those guys have to fully develop, but I think that's a good one-two punch, and they got to stay healthy.

But the wide receiving room, hello. DK Metcalf, phenomenal. Jackson Smith and Jigba I think is going to be a star in this league. I would like to see JJ McCarthy go to Seattle. And did you see McCarthy's comments about the three receivers he'd like to throw the ball to?

No, I didn't. One was Justin Jefferson, I think. One was Justin Jefferson. I forget who number two. Minnesota would be a fun fit. And number three was Jackson Smith and Jigba. Oh, was it? The Ohio State enemy, but I guess he saw him enough that he, you know, maybe he was just throwing a little bit of wink wink over to Seattle and Mike McDonald.

But could be interesting. Last one, Michael Pennix Jr. Where would you like to see him end up? The Steelers. I want to see Michael Pennix Jr. land with the Pittsburgh Steelers. I think he embodies that city. He is a tough guy with all the adversity that he's overcome with the injuries. And also, he has an accurate arm. And there's some weapons in Pittsburgh right now.

George Pickens. I don't know if Deontay Johnson is going to be there to start the season. There's some trade rumors. You have a nice one-two punch in the run game with Jalen Warren and Najee Harris as well.

And you have a good defense. Michael Pennix Jr. would instantly be an upgrade over Kenny Pickett, especially with the way that we've seen Michael Pennix Jr. play his last two years and be one of the better quarterbacks in the country ever since he transferred over to Washington. I just think a fit of a city and then also a coach with the quarterback. Michael Pennix Jr. I think would excel with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

So there we go. Some quarterback Sampda throws out and where I want them to go. If you couldn't understand, I want Jayden Daniels to go to Patriots.

I do. Either Daniels or Marvin Harrison Jr. Now, you know what could also be a possibility for the Pats, Sampda? If they move down to like six with the Giants and the Giants come up and let's say they don't get Jayden Daniels, like let's say Daniels off the board and the Giants want to go get Drake May and the Pats fall back to six, I would be okay with losing Marvin Harrison Jr. but getting future first round picks from the Giants, having to move up from six to three, and then you land on on Aroma Dunze. I mean, you would have to get a huge amount of assets to move back from three for a team that needs a quarterback and having Marvin Harrison Jr. on the board. I know that Aroma Dunze and neighbors are both like top 10 caliber players, so maybe you can fall back. But to give up on both of those guys, to give it back on a potential franchise quarterback and maybe the best wide receiver prospect we've seen in decades.

He's the best player in the draft. So to give up on both of that, they would have to get a haul from the Giants to move back to six. And what I'm saying, just to be clear, let's say Daniels isn't on the board at three and he goes to. So if it's a quarterback or Marvin Harrison Jr., my preference would be Marvin Harrison Jr. But I don't want Pennix. I don't want McCarthy. I don't want May. I don't want Knicks. You know, and at three guys that are potential first round guys, Caleb Williams would love. Jayden Daniels would love. All the other guys I would not love. And I'd be fine waiting a year to get a quarterback and falling back because the Patriots are going to be bad regardless. And you get all that future draft capital and then a Roma Dunze.

It's the only way I'm OK with passing up with Marvin Harrison Jr. is if it's Daniels at three or if you get Roma Dunze and future first round picks for a team to come up from wherever to get to the third overall pick. All right. This is Zach Gelb's show on CBS Sports Radio.

All right. Zach Gelb shows CBS Sports Radio. So Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Johnny Menzel, one of the more exciting players in the history of college football, announced he will no longer attend the Heisman Trophy presentation until Reggie Bush is given his Heisman Trophy back. And I fully applaud Johnny Menzel. There's a lot of instances in the last few years where you can't really fully applaud Johnny Menzel.

This is one of them. And you know how important it is, and I say this as a Heisman Trophy voter, that the Heisman Trust gets as many former Heisman Trophy winners as possible to the event because the Heisman Trophy is all about history and it's all about a prestigious award and tradition. And it's so cool when you're going through the history of Heisman Trophy winners and you have all those guys on the stage to embrace the new winner and to celebrate the game of football, celebrate the history and welcome in the new winner of the Heisman Trophy to the most elite fraternity that college football has. And Johnny Menzel taking a stance here, especially with the ridiculousness of him getting, you know, Reggie Bush getting his Heisman Trophy taken away and even how more inane it seems now where players could profit off their name, image and likeness. It's just so stupid that they haven't given the award back to Reggie Bush.

And I say this as a Heisman Trophy voter. I've seen before from the Heisman Trust where they have kicked the can down the road and they've punted on this decision by saying, well, that's on the NCAA, the NCAA, you know, they reinstate Reggie Bush and all that stuff with the sanctions and everything, then we'll give them the trophy back. But that's on our, they could give them back the trophy if they wanted to. But the fact that that trophy has been taken away, it's just ridiculous.

It's silly, especially now, like back then, you want a point to prove and all that fine. But now since players could profit off their name, image and likeness, we're taking money, we're taking a trophy away and keeping it away from Reggie Bush. And this, I hate the NCAA with this.

So I have to be consistent with the Heisman Trust. I hate when a sport, when something goes wrong or someone breaks the rules, then tries to tell you that their spot in the sport is just wiped out and it's treated like it never existed. I think it's the dumbest thing when the NCAA vacates a national championship or vacates a player's record because someone either cheated or someone took money or someone didn't follow the rules baloney. The game still happened. And this isn't like the Hall of Fame and baseball, which I think we should put all the Star Wars guys in. If you have the stats, you have the stats, Major League Baseball, they allowed it. But this isn't like Reggie Bush was taking a performance enhancing drug.

It was about money. It didn't impact Reggie Bush's play on the field for crying out loud. And it's so stupid that each and every year when they do the Heisman Trophy, it's like, oh, who's one of the most explosive players in the history of college football, Reggie Bush? Oh, he won the, oh no, well, he won the Heisman, but it was taken away. And now we act like he doesn't even exist. But we could parade Reggie Bush for years around on Fox shows, stadium to stadium, talking about college football. I like, come on.

It's so silly. It just makes the NCAA and the Heisman Trust look even worse now with everyone embracing NIL and where college football is at right now. Listen, I love Reggie. Don't say that his trophy should be kept away from him.

Oh, please don't. Here's, here's my argument. The trophy should never have been taken away from him in the first place.

Okay, good job. However, the idea of, hey, the rules have changed. So therefore we should go back and unpunish all the people who broke the rules at that time is ridiculous to me. It was a rule then, he broke a rule then. Even though the rules have changed now, it doesn't mean that he didn't break a rule then, right?

Marijuana is legal in a lot of places. It doesn't mean that if you got arrested for smoking weed back then, that all the fines you paid, you should give back, that you should get back all the money you lost while you were in prison because you were, you broke a rule that is no longer a law now, right? I understand the idea of, okay, the rule is not a rule now. We shouldn't punish him now.

Great. Anybody who was punished for breaking a rule that when the rule changed, unpunish them or, or, or whatever. But if the rule has changed and you broke the rule back then while it was actually a rule, it was a rule. He broke a rule and they did what they had to do based off of the rules and regulations back then. It's a stupid rule. They shouldn't have taken it away in the first place. I agree. But now that they've taken it away, just because they've changed the rule doesn't mean that he didn't break it back then. He did. Okay, but that's not the argument.

The argument's doing what's right here. It's stupid how everyone could talk about how Reggie Bush, just like with base, just with baseball, you know, there's a big difference. I'm not saying what Reggie Bush is, what the story guys did, but like basically, uh, you have Barry Bonds who in the record books, most home runs in the history of the game, but that guy's on hall of fame. I know the NCAA tries to then wipe away the record books, but it still happened.

His games, his results still happened. He won the Heisman trophy when the Heisman trophy, we should have then just take away the Heisman trophy. Sam, to be like, if you want an award here, let's say like you want a Marconi, but just play along with it. We know that.

Let's say you want a Marconi here at CBS sports radio. And then it came out that you did something behind the scenes that wasn't allowed. You still won the award. So trying to tell me that the award didn't happen in the ward was never given out and trying to erase his place in college football history. You can put an asterisk next to it, give back the trophy. And then every year we have to say, Oh, but this happened and that happened.

That's fine. But to act like the guy never existed as a Heisman trophy winner is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. So here's my question. Do you think that the issue is more that what he did wrong then wasn't worth losing the Heisman over? Is your issue more that they took the Heisman away from him in the first place or that they're not giving it back?

It's that they took it away in the first place. Okay, so here's my stance. There it is. Jim Boeheim. I can't stand the dude. He is so arrogant. He is so obnoxious, Jim Boeheim. But when they took away wins from him, I thought that was dumb.

Say what you want about Rick Pitino. When they took away a national championship from Louisville, dumb. Anytime the NCAA does this, it's dumb. Heck, what happened at Penn State makes me want to puke. And it was as disgraceful as we've ever seen in sports. But to take away wins from Paterno doesn't make sense.

Like anytime when the results happen, whether you like how it went down or not is totally different. But the game still happened. So to try to tell me that something didn't happen after it happened is dumb.

It's just dumb. But see, I don't think anyone is trying to tell you that it didn't happen. They're trying to say with Reggie Bush.

No, they're just saying that they are. No, they're not saying that it didn't happen. What they're saying is we don't want to award him for what happened. We don't want to praise him for what happened because they're trying to erase his history by taking away that award because you can't erase the most recognizable thing the sport has, but you're not erasing his history because there's tape. There's memory people can talk about. They're not trying to erase his history. What they're trying to say is they have what his stats they have in record books, but we don't look at record books.

You know what I look at? I look at ESPN.com. I look at, you know, sports reference.com. Yes, that's impacted because it's not acknowledged by the NCAA.

It is, but it's all there. I can still find all of his stats anywhere I want to look. So maybe like in the official NCAA record book, where was the last time you looked at the official NCAA record book? I looked at collegefootballreference.com or whatever the website is, and it's different. But collegefootballreference.com is not officially the NCAA. No, but they acknowledge what the NCAA acknowledges. But if you want to find Reggie Bush's stats, if you want to find a film of Reggie Bush's season, you can find it anywhere.

His stuff has not been erased. All they're saying is we're not going to recognize his accomplishments because he did something wrong at the time. And it's stupid. It's stupid. You and I can agree to disagree. I don't think they should have taken the award away in the first place. So you think they should keep the trophy, since they already did it, you think they should keep the trophy away from him? I think that since they already did it, they should keep the trophy away from him because changing the rule does not undo what they punished him for in the first place.

So, but we'll wrap on this. I understand the rules are the rules. But when you have players like Caleb Williams, what it came out that he made $10 million from NIL, well, guess what would have happened back in the day? They would have dropped a bag of cash to Caleb Williams if he played 15 years ago and he still would have got the same amount of money. So Caleb Williams and everyone else could go home.

Caleb Williams and everyone else could go make this money now. But it's now just allowing the practices to occur. And there's all these other problems with NIL, but we have to take away Reggie Bush's Heisman for things that we allow now because we realized that it was wrong.

You know, we should change things when things were done wrong. And I understand cheating is cheating, but the guy won the award. To not acknowledge him as a Heisman Trophy winner is a joke. And we need Johnny Manziel now to tell us what is right or wrong. And guess what? Johnny Manziel is a thousand percent right. He's our moral compass. Johnny Football, let's go.

And you know what? We could change this. You could change this in not even one full Heisman Trophy presentation. Every other member of that is living, that has won a Heisman Trophy should boycott. They should boycott the Heisman Trophy presentation. And I say this as a Heisman Trophy voter.

I would not go like you see Manziel do this. I would not go to the Heisman Trophy presentation if I won the Heisman Trophy presentation because it's bullcrap. It's absolute bullcrap that Reggie Bush doesn't have that award. Give him back the damn award. And you could say, oh, it's the NCAA's fault. It's Heisman Trophy.

I don't care whose fault it is. Give him the damn award back. He deserves it. Reggie Bush should have his Heisman Trophy back. Enough of this.

It's so stupid. Guy does this. Guy does that for the sport.

Guy is this decorated. He wins a trophy. Oh, he took money. His family took money years ago. And now we take away the Heisman Trophy from him.

And we still hold it against him when every other player that plays in the sport is making money. Come on. This is so stupid. So stupid and what frustrates me and drives me crazy to no end is just repeated incompetence.

If they just listen to me and have listened to me the last six years or so on CBS Sports Radio. After Brady, my favorite baseball player of all time is Mike Piazza. And for hockey, it's Henrik Lundqvist. Those are the three athletes that I love the most in my life. Tom Brady, Mike Piazza and Henrik Lundqvist.

And Brady, obviously the ultimate definition of a winner. Piazza got to a World Series with the Mets but never won it. Lundqvist got to a Stanley Cup with the Rangers but didn't win it. And when you have a guy like Brady and he was removed from the Patriots, Piazza when he retired was removed from the Mets. Lundqvist got traded and then there was a major heart issue and then that forced him to retire. But like if a player and Kelsey won a championship, the only championship in Philadelphia, Super Bowl championship, but if you have a player leave a team and retire immediately and they don't win a championship, I think it makes it even tougher. Like for Brady, he went elsewhere, won another Super Bowl and then retired.

Okay, I'm good for that era of history to end. But like if Piazza went right from the Mets to retirement or Lundqvist went right from the Rangers to retirement without being that buffer where he never played for the Capitals, I think it makes it tougher because you're like, wow, you had this all-time great player and you weren't able to see them deliver you a championship and maybe like other teammates did let them down. Real quickly, Samter, who's your favorite athlete of all time?

I've got a few. But if you had to only pick one, who's your favorite athlete, the athlete that you love the most? Man, it used to be Sammy Sosa.

Really? Yeah, Sammy was my guy. My favorite celebration I think ever when he used to jump in the air and have the hands up and do the double jump when the ball went up the bat. He was awesome until he kind of hit downhill. But I love Sammy Sosa. Funny that Samter goes with the stubborn guy after just basically crushing people that did things wrong. But that's why he's no longer my guy.

During the 98-99-2000 season, even before that, I was a Sosa fan back in 93-94 when he was a 30-30 guy before he was blasting 75 home runs a year. But yeah, Sean Camp was one of my guys also. But I mean, a lot of the guys that I loved, beloved growing up, kind of turned out to be jerks or cheaters or something.

So I kind of... Could be a character flaw in you. Yeah, well, you know, I liked them when they were cool. Donnie Baseball was one of my guys too. And I love Donnie Baseball.

But Paul O'Neill, and I love Paul O'Neill. He was on the show last week. Yeah, great promotion. Talking about the golf event. What a great golf event that was, Paul. And his Warrior 21 beer. Yes.

And that's why number 21 is my favorite number. Roberto Clemente, Paul O'Neill, Sami Sosa. Gotcha. Stu, your favorite athlete?

I think I know the answer to this. Yeah, it's Kobe Bryant. Not even close. Yeah, so there you go.

Alrighty. Some of our favorite athletes ever. Let's hear from Jason Kelce. He thanks Jeff Statlin.

I thought this was a phenomenal part of his press conference. Had many holding penalties that cost our team and looked like one of the worst centers in the league. I was wanted out of town by nearly everyone. And it wasn't just the fans that wanted me to go on. It was nearly everyone in this organization. That offseason, I heard trade rumors galore and speculation I'd be cut. I imagine if the Eagles had received a trade offer for a brand new set of washing machines, they may have pulled the trigger. Hell, if I was in charge, I would have pulled the trigger.

There's only one person in this building who still wanted me. And it's he who I have to thank most for the career I've had. That's Jeff Statlin.

That's Jeff Statlin. No one has been more influential or meaningful to my success on the field of my career than Stout. I think one of the greatest things a human being can give another is belief. This world life, they can be hard. They can challenge yourself to points of self-doubt.

And that is a dangerous place to be. Well, I am lucky my whole life. I have been surrounded by people that have believed in me. And in my darkest hours of Philadelphia, Stout was the one who believed in me. Without him, I doubt any of this would have been possible or that I'd still be here.

I am very proud knowing where I once was and the legacy I have left behind. And the man we can all thank is Jeff Statlin. Jason Kelce is the definition of a football guy. Like you look up football guy in the dictionary, it's Jason Kelce. And to see him be a walk-on at Cincinnati to a six-round draft pick to now one of the greatest offensive linemen, greatest center, greatest personalities the game has ever seen, it's pretty damn cool. And sometimes athletes get caught up in the hoopla and trying to be a star. Jason Kelce is not that.

He showed up to the press conference today in a tank top. And I'm sure he was wearing flip-flops too because Jason Kelce wears flip-flops everywhere. But it's so fitting that the Eagles were even doubting him. And then after they doubted him, six out of his final seven seasons is when he was a first team All-Pro.

Think about that. Six out of his seven final seasons, he was a first team All-Pro. This dude got better with age. He didn't have to walk away. He's still had a lot of good football left or maybe another two years of good football left, great football left.

But he just felt like it was time. And he won a Super Bowl. There was nothing left for Jason Kelce to do in Philadelphia. And man, just what a legend. What a bleeping legend Jason Kelce is.

I don't think there's anyone on the planet that despises Jason Kelce unless if you're just a defensive lineman that's anger from a battle that you lost up against him. Alrighty, fun show today. Big thanks to Charles Davis, each and every one of you.
