The Pilgrims, a group of English Separatists, sailed to America in 1620 to establish a colony where they could practice their Christian faith freely. They faced numerous challenges, including harsh weather, disease, and conflicts with Native Americans, but ultimately established a thriving community in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Their story is a testament to the power of faith and perseverance in the face of adversity.

Tonight we have we have three men here. We have Stile, Pastor Joe, and myself, and we are just three men We love our God, we love our Country, we love our family. and we love our freedom, and we want to wish all of you a The most blessed blessed Thanksgiving. And uh Pastor Joe, you had some prayer requests? I sure do.

Uh got two of them. Brother Gordon Rhodes, a dear friend of mine, pastor of the local church. And he had an extremely bad fall, has a concussion some bleeding, swelling and is not doing well. And Meryl Snapp is my wife's best friend and She was rushed to the hospital with kidney stones, but she's in ICU for sepsis. That's bad.

That's very bad. Yeah. She's in very bad shape and in ICU right now, and I would like to. Have everybody pray for both Brother Rhodes and Meryl Snapp. They both need God's help.

Let's see if we can all the folks out there remember, folks, this is especially this Thanksgiving And while you're at it, add those two. National Guardsmen that were shot down and In DC today. Right. I was going to add those two. Exactly.

Can you hear me all right? You're coming in kind of garbage. Yeah, I can hear you loud and clear. All right. Let me try to turn me up a little bit, okay?

Uh is that better? Uh, is that any better? Uh not much, but I can hear you.

Okay.

Well, you come in loud and clear on my end. There we go.

Now it's clear. Thank you. Alrighty, very good.

Well, g go ahead and and f and uh lead us in that prayer and all you folks out there join with us. It's very important that So go ahead, Pastor. We will all Need prayers someday, I guarantee you. Yep, dear Heavenly Father. Um the wonderful thing about going to you in prayer is you know what's on my heart, you know what's wrong with Pastor Rhodes.

You know what he needs. You know what's happening to Merrill. In fact, you knew before it ever happened that it would happen. And we just uh lift up the two of them and Uh to National Guard troops that are in critical or serious condition. I heard different reports.

I think they're in ser critical condition and their families That in all of these three instances, Lord, that you would bless them with the blessing that you know that they need the most. he would be with the doctors and the nurses that are Giving treatment to all, and that you would guide hands and guide their minds and. to what treatment to do and how and More than that, you would if it be thy will, would pour out your healing power on these individuals that you would. Just bless them in every conceivable way, strengthen their bodies, heal, if it be thy will, for a wonderful testimony to you, to your power. But as always, we pray that it be thy will, whatever it is, Lord, that.

we lift them up, put them into your capable, wonderful hands. And we just ask also that you would comfort all those that Love these people that are worried and upset this Thanksgiving. We know all across the country many families are dealing with heartbreak and with people sick, hurting, lost and lonely. And Lord, although the nation probably doesn't deserve it, we would ask that you bless this nation one more time that the sex giving that especially if many of the people turn to you and thank you. and give you the praise and the glory due you this Thanksgiving.

We ask this in Jesus' precious, precious name. Amen. Amen. Thank you, Joe. Uh, Joe, I wanted to I promised Randall Terry.

Randall had left me a message. And he uh Yeah. Then he le he t left me a text and asked me if I would play that. I'm gonna try to play that. I tried last night but it didn't work.

And so I'm going to try it again. Yeah. It's Randall Terry. Here. I hope that you're well, brother.

As you know, we purchased that campus in Memphis, Tennessee. December 3rd through 5th is our big event, and we're gonna have a peaceful sit-in at Planned Parenthood. We've got great speakers, evangelicals, Catholics working together like we have for so many decades. I just wish you could be there, brother. I miss you.

I thank God for you. It is such a privilege to know you and to have stood with you in. in battle. For decades, I just can't believe how the time has flown. Anyway, um, If you want, you could check out everything at rescueresurrection.com.

And I hope that some of our mutual friends can join us there. We got space on the floor for people to sleep if they don't want to spend the money on the hotel, but it's going to be big, it's going to be awesome. I love you, man. All the best. Bye for now.

All right, there you go. I was able to finally get that. I couldn't for some reason the phone wouldn't work last night. And, um but we got it done. And so we're going to get.

Well, maybe the people that need to hear it are listening tonight and weren't last night. Could be.

Alrighty. Joe, would you like to do it more than we do? Always, right? Right. We got two Bible verses I want to read tonight.

Uh one, it says In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus. Concerning you. First Thessalonians five eighteen. And I gave you the other verse, Daniel 6.10. Would you like to read that?

Yeah. Sure. Daniel six, verse ten.

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house, and his windows being opened in his chamber, toward Jerusalem He kneeled. Upon his knees. Three times a day. and prayed and gave thanks before his God as he did aforetime.

Well, basically, what that was was Daniel's king, Darius, which was the government. The government was telling Daniel And No, you cannot worship your God, and of course. That is what the world is trying to tell us today, and that's what's happening to our brothers and sisters all over this globe. That's what those in this country w want to say the Under the Biden regime, and right now, in so many of your public schools. They try to shut Christians up, but we're not going to let that happen.

And Joe, you and I, for the last fifty years, I spent Telling people, if you love your children, get them out of the public schools, get them out of there. because of the communist indoctrination in Total revisionist history. you know, the curriculum, the school books that they use They just totally uh wipe out our history, okay. And we c we know a part of that under communism And that's why the the Democrats tore down all the statutes uh in the country the of the war heroes and Uh they wanted to they they wanted first Uh try to totally erase God. And then they want to erase our history, but we're not going to let them do it.

And that's why Every year of Thanksgiving we do a our Thanksgiving program and I already had calls today asking are you gonna do your your special that you do every year and yes, we're gonna do it and I read from America's Christian History. Which is an excellent, excellent book. And it's a book put out for Christian schools. And Here Um this was Uh Job, a book that uses a Curriculum is set for an eighth grade level. But Joe.

You know, today This is, you know, above most of what So many of our high school seniors can't even read that well to day. But We did an eighteen something uh high school exam. And most of our college students in America, there were three years of college, couldn't even pass it. Not even I mean, they failed it, couldn't even pass it, let alone understood it. Absolutely.

Well, I'm gonna get going on this, and this is our annual as we go through here. We may stop it from time to time, Joe, and and do a little commentary. But Here I go. as we take a look at the faith and steadfastness of the pilgrims. Do you know who the pilgrims were?

Well, today So many of the the the children in the public schools really didn't. But they were a group of people who began a colony in America in sixteen twenty. It is their courage and faith and steadfastness upon which this nation of ours is built.

Well, you might ask. Why is it so important to know uh about the true pilgrims?

Well I remember Joe when I was a Kidding. in school, even in in elementary school, And I remember the teachers and others back in those days patriotic. how they shared about their Christian heritage.

Well, I we actually prayed two times a day at that time. The that we would start school off with a prayer over the loudspeaker and then when you got to your first class your home home, uh, school class there homeroom class, we would have prayer again.

Okay.

Chances are that you were encouraged and you became kind of excited about what God has done. in the lives of those pilgrims and those that we read about. Also about how God can Can use us. Today. You see, the pilgrims came to America so That they could worship God in the way which they believed the Bible said to.

They were willing to face a strange world with no grocery stores on the corner in which to buy bread or clothes. The truth. And being able to live by what they believed in were very, very important. By studying the pilgrims, we can learn to recognize God's hand not only. in history.

but in our lives too. We can learn about the ideas which. Help to build the nation of ours. In the chapter of the gospel who built it. Over half of the pilgrims were to die the very first winter here.

in America. But not one ever said, Well, I quit, or I'm tired, or I want to go home No.

Now each time trouble hit they learned a bit more. and they leaned a bit more on God's Word. and their faith. and steadfastness grew. There is much we can learn from the pilgrims.

In their story. We're able to learn about the true adventure of the Pilgrims because back then They believed in writing diaries.

Well We will shortly be reading from one of those diaries written by William Bradford. And this is our way of exposing today's revisionist history. There are many people in the world today who will try to tell you that well now. Why, those pilgrims why, they were nothing more than outcasts whom England no longer wanted and and that they were well, they were kind of bad people who used the Indians and were unfair to them. This is what we hear from those on the left to day.

Why? I even read recently that the Indians were invited to the first Thanksgiving only because they brought all of the food. One way to find the truth is to go to the original diaries and read for yourself. And that's just what we're going to be doing here tonight. And as we start.

Yeah. And we start with the history of the Plymouth Plantation. In England The Bible was finally translated into English. and was being read by everyone. That's the King James Bible.

Godly preachers were traveling the countryside telling the truth of God's Word. many people were becoming aware of their sins and giving their lives to Christ. As they did this they were confronted with their were their friends who were laughing at them and telling lies about them.

Well, their lives became hard due to the persecution. They ball bore all their troubles with With much patience and Study God's Word even harder.

Now these people saw the evils of those who were anti-Christian, and believed they were the Lord's free people.

So they joined together into a church estate. at Scrooby, England. Together They could walk in God's ways. doing their best to live a Christian life with God's help. they were willing to hold their beliefs true.

And no matter what it cost him The persecution of these separatists, as they were called, and that's what we are today. We are. The Bible tells us very clearly to be separatists, come out from amongst them and be you separate from them. And Here The persecution of it The separatists became so great that they decided to leave old England for Holland. And when they left much was left behind their land, their livelihoods, their friends.

familiar surroundings. They left to go to a country with different customs, languages, jobs and government. The Separatists were plain, simple country folks. They were not accustomed to the ways of the new country. The move was full of problems and difficulties.

But they set their hearts and minds on the Word of God, and they rested on His providence. But when they went to leave England, They found that the ports were closed to them. They could not stay in England for they no longer had a home. But they could not leave England, for no one would take them in.

So secret passage was sometimes searched for, but it usually ended in betrayal and the loss of their goods and money, Finally, in sixteen oh seven, a large group of Separatists gathered in Boston In Lincolnshire, and hired a ship to take them to Holland.

Soon arrangements were made. A time was set and and the goods was placed on the ship. Finally, after a long wait and much, much expense, It looked as if they would be on their way. But when they were all on board the ship the captain betrayed them. The captain had made arrangements for officers to come search them and place them in open boats to take them back to town.

Once in town with no money, no books, no possessions, They were put in prison to await trials. Months later they were set free. And they were to try again. This next spring a friendship was formed. and arrangements were made with the Dutchman at Hull.

to take an even larger group to Howland They were on board the ship at a place which was some distance from any town, The women and the children and possessions were Sent to the location a day ahead of time. and day ahead of a departure. in a small barge But since the sea was rough and the women and the children became very ill, they found Calm waters in a nearby creek. The next day the women and the children did not stir until noon. But the men were ready on time.

The Dutchman was loaded and the men on board, And On board the ship, when he saw a large group of soldiers coming with weapons, the anchor lifted and the ship immediately. The left. The men washed on board the ship as Their women and children were taken hostage. with all of their possessions. The men were left with no money or clothes.

There was nothing for them to do but trust God. The men sailed for fourteen days in a storm. This is That frightened even the experienced sailors. The separatists raised their voices in prayer and All look lost when the ship began to sink, but The Lord's power and mercy appeared when the ship rose up again. and the sailors' hearts were gained.

Gain courage. Bradford tells of the prayers that all the men and the sailors alike send heavenward. during this storm. It was just a short time after the ship recovered that by God's providence the storm weakened in It ended. and when they reached their desired port, The people came flocking down to the ship to see those whom God had delivered out of such a severe and long lasting storm.

The women and the children who had been captured were. taken from place to place. And from justice to justice. Until they did not know what would become of them. They were they were frightened.

They were alone and and did not know What had happened Taller their men folk. None of the English officials knew what to do with him.

Well, they had no homes to be sent back to, and No place to go. Finally, All the officials grew tired of their plight and just wanted them to go somewhere, somewhere, anywhere. And that somewhere was with their husbands and fathers. Yeah. which is finally by God's providence.

exactly where they were sent. Knowing all the handling of the case, and England. The case of the Separatists became quite famous. and many others were to hear of their plight.

Okay.

and join them in Holland. In Holland. The Separatists were faced with problems. concerning language customs and dress. But they kept their eyes on God even as a in the face of poverty which they would now have to handle.

God saw their faith and patience and And he gave them victory over their troubles. And when the Separatists left England, There were A few who stayed to the last to be sure that even the weakest made it over. These men included Mr. Robertson and Mr. Brewster.

After finally arriving and living in Amsterdam for a year, Robertson and Brewster decided to move the group to Leiden. This was done to keep the church from dividing into two groups. With much hard and continued work, the separatists who had been farmers for the most part, We're able to learn new crafts and and developed a comfortable living. They were to live in Leiden for many years, growing in the knowledge of the Lord and being accepted. by the community.

Robinson as their pastor Taught the group much during those years.

Well, their ideas and beliefs formed an and their numbers increased, and by sixteen seventeen There were over three hundred separatists Living in Leiden. For twelve years the Separatists lived in Leyden. There were their hard work and friendships finally began to take its toll. Their leaders were growing old and began to look for another place to live. These Englishmen saw their friends dying in a strange land, and and their children speaking a strange language, accepting strange customs and and dress.

Oh, yes, it was indeed time to move on. The great dream of these separatists was to go to a new land and become a Stepping stones for other people. With this end in mind plans were made to move, and the colony again. Yeah. I'm gonna stop uh There's some noise coming.

Joe, is that you making that noise? I might have. I had to Suggest some equipment. I was just going to say, I was looking at 2 Corinthians 6:17. wherefore come out from among them.

And be ye separate, saith the Lord. and touch not the unclean thing, and I will receive you.

Well, that's their thoughts turned to the land of America, which was full of promise, and a few people. As plans were made, fear. Fear grew in the people. Would they starve? Be killed?

Would they have no clothes or be lost at sea? All kinds of thoughts grew up finally. The people decided that God would not turn his back on them. They decided it would be better to die in Free. As free men in America than in exile in a foreign land.

Bedford tells us next of how the the Separatists begin to pray to God for his direction and help. A conference was then held. in Virginia. In the New World Even though it ran the same risk of his Much persecution is in England. and it was decided upon their designation Two members were chosen to go to England and ask for permission to settle there with freedom of religion.

The representatives found the Virginia Company. Which was eager for them to go, and willing to grant a patent for whatever privileges they desired. The king's seal was then sought, and the providence of God waited on. At about this time it was learned that the King of England had granted to be settled a large section of the northerly parts of the Virginia which was to be governed separately from Virginia. and called by a new name New England.

In this new era called New England, Reports said that there were lots of fish. For that and another reason the Separatists decided to to make New England their destination. The provisions of the trip were purchased from merchants and Plans with the Virginia Company finalized.

However, unknown. To most of the separatists the conditions which their representatives agreed to had been changed. Bradford listed changes in the conditions. With a company For the right to travel and settle in England, and this is right out of Bradford's journals. Every adventurer Um those were people who were not separatist but traveled to the new colony to settle.

or a planter No, the the planters were the separatists. Over the age of sixteen was to be granted one share in the partnership. Each person who paid for himself and either money or provisions would be granted double shares. The people transported to the colony would continue in their joint stock and partnership together for seven years. that during the seven years all profits or benefits obtained by trade working, fishing, or any other means would remain the common property of all the shareholders.

Upon arrival, they would choose a number of fit persons to work on the fishing boats. The remaining people would be divided among the tasks on land such as house building or planting. At the end of the seven years, all the profits, capital, houses, lands, and goods. would be used to pay off all debts, and the remaining equally divided between the shareholders, When done, each man would be free from debt to anyone in the in the adventure. Anyone who came to the colony later or joined in holding stuck would be given his fair share at the end of the seven years.

Any man who brought his wife? Children or servants would be given a single share for each who was over the age of sixteen years.

Now if the man provided for their necessities, then he would be givin' double shares and if any one of them was between the ages of ten and sixteen, then two of them would count as one. Cheer. Any children who went to the colony under the age of ten. would have no share in the company except to be giving fifty acres of land At the end of the seven years. If anyone died before the seven years were up, why?

The share would go to the heirs. All persons in the county would obtain their meat, drink, clothes, and provisions. of the common stock of the col of the colony. The major differences in the conditions were that The lands and houses could not be divided up until The seventh year. That out of a week of seven days.

Two days would no longer be used for a person's own employment. and profit. Also the patent granted them was not for New England as hoped. but for the northern Virginian land. These conditions would have a major effect on the success of failure.

of the colony. After great length and a small ship, the Speedwell. was purchased and fitted in Holland. It was planned that it would be. Used in the new colony for fishing.

All was made ready for the journey. Another ship, the Mayflower, was hired at London. And all seemed finally ready, and every one gathered at Plymouth, England, and awaited departure. The day before leaving, the Separatists held a day of solemn prayer. The pastor read from the Bible, Ezra eight twenty one, which says And there at the river By Harva.

I proclaimed a fast. that we might humble ourselves before our God. and seek of him a right way for us. and for our children. and for all our substance.

Everything being ready, each family took to the proper ship and The sails lifted high. The journey of the Separatists to America had finally begun on August 5. sixteen twenty. 102 men, women, and children. had begun the great adventure.

But at this point. in this story here, it should be noted that the the smaller of the two ships to speed well became very, very unseaworthy. Twice the Separatists had to return to England and leave again. Finally the speed well was sold.

Some people Give up. but the rest were loaded. On the larger ship, the Mayflower, this accounts for their late arrival at Cape Cod during the winter months. The Separatists now called Pilgrims had finally left England on their voyage to America. Their journey was great a while.

Fair winds and weather were enjoyed for a season, wrote Bradford. Then halfway across they began to encounter strong crosswinds and fierce storms.

Okay.

The ship was severely shaken. The upper decks became very leaky. One of the main masts bowed and cracked. Everyone feared that the ship would not be able to finish the journey. A few of the pilgrims realized that they Mariners had even were even afraid and and could tell from their talk that they wanted to turn back.

They went to the officers of the ship to discuss the situation. There was much discussion. And the differences of opinion is What the course would be, what to do. After considerable talk. It was decided that the ship was strong enough.

The main mast was fixed by using a huge screw which one of the pilgrims had brought with him from Holland. The large iron screw from A printing press was used to hold the mast in place. They caulked what they could in the upper decks, And with that They committed themselves to the will of God and resolved To proceed. And after a period of time and more storms They finally reached Cape Cod. The interesting at this point though.

to ponder The fixing of the ship's mast.

Now just imagine for a moment A family packing their things in Holland They couldn't take much, only what they truly needed. And the father runs over and puts in a huge screw. One can just picture the discussion as to its true value. It was divine providence which saw it. To it.

that that screw was on board the Mayflower. Bradford writes at this point about the people. They had borne such hardships Even before the journey. The trip at sea had had been miserable.

Now they looked at a land. Where there was no inns to welcome them, no friends to help them get settled. No place to refresh themselves. The Apostles, according to the Bible, when they were shipwrecked, were met by natives with kindness. And mercy.

The natives that waited on the shore for the pilgrims were ready to meet them with bows and arrows. Not only that. But it was now winter. And if you ever lived in that part of the country, you know that winters are cold and harsh. Fierce storms are common It was dangerous to travel, much less explore an unknown seacoast.

What the people saw from the ship was was a vast wilderness full of wild animals and men. Behind them stood a vast Atlantic Ocean. which they had just crossed. It stood between them and the rest of the civilized world. The ship's officers and crew were growing restless.

There was talk of just dropping the pilgrims and their things off at any shore. The pilgrims looked back on all that had happened. and all that they had left behind. The hope which seemed so big and bright back in Leiden, now seems so small. All that was left was the grace of God to sustain them.

Bradford wrote of how they How they wondered. if their children and grandchildren might say Our fathers were Englishmen which came over this great ocean. and were ready to perish in this wilderness. But they cried unto the LORD, and he heard their voice. and looked on their adversities.

He delivered them from the hands of the oppressor. Let them confess before the Lord his lovingkindness and his wonderful works before the sons of men. The pilgrims had arrived at Cape Cod on November 11. They had to find a place to live quickly. The storms which the the ship met during the voyage had carried the ship much farther north.

It had been planned. The land they looked upon was part of New England. not Northern Virginia, for which they had their charter. There was talk among the pilgrims that the the seamen And a segment of how they would take their own liberties once on land. And since there was no law at that time, forty-one of the pilgrims banded together.

To write the Mayflower Compact. Let's just take a moment to read what is said. Boy, the Democrats don't like this. Not at all. In the name of God, amen.

We whose names are underwritten. the loyal subjects of our dread sovereign Lord King James, By the grace of God of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King defender of the faith. Having undertaken for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith, The honor of our king and country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia. Do by these present solemnly and mutually in the presence of God, and of one another, covenant, and combine ourselves together. onto a civil body politic.

For a better ordering than Preservation. and furtherance of the ends. Before said and by virtue thereof to enact. Ordinances acts. constitutions and offices From time to time, as shall be thought, most meet and convenient.

For the general good of the colony, and to which we Promise all due submission and obedience. And the witness thereof We have Hereunder subscribed our names at Cape Cod, the eleventh of November, in the year in the reign of our sovereign lord King James of England. France. Ireland. On the eighteenth of the Scotland and the fifty fourth In sixteen twenty.

Good petty politicians. Here we have You keep hearing the left trying to say, you know, Christians shouldn't be in politics. religion has no place in politics. And here the first people in America set up a civil body politics. which was a covenant with God.

and uh between themselves and God. and formed the body politic, first thing that happened in America, right? Yep, absolutely. And they keep trying to tell us that Christians shouldn't be in politics. We created it.

I mean There's one of the big lies of uh that they've been teaching in the schools for far, far too long. Unfortunately it's it's not just the Liberals and many Many of these neo evangelical churches, the pastors in these mega churches, tell people tell their people they shouldn't be involved in politics. It's it's a dirty thing. And um They just want to stay Well They simply don't have the courage to do what they should do, and that's why I'm sorry, but I'm not sure a lot of them are really pastors. I think most of them are hirelings.

They're there for the money because they're good speakers. They're a motivator, motivational speakers. charismatic people, but as far as uh What you and I have seen over the years, real Bible-believing gospel, fundamental. uh preaching, uh not much of So you're saying they're they're more entertainers? Then they are yeah.

Their entertainment. We saw that in San Diego. Saw it. That was there, these churches in San Diego. We asked what what was they had Starbucks coffee weight rooms.

They had some of the churches had their own little theater All kinds of things. And when you look at their brochures, there wasn't a single thing they were doing For the work of God, there was no feeding the poor, visiting the sick. Uh there's nothing spiritual going on. It was a gated entertainment community. with an occasional prayer to, Oh, God, please bless us, give us more.

Thank you for wealth, you know. They weren't churches, they were entertainment centers. I've seen several of them and Very little space to be found.

Well, now, come on, Joe. At least they had building projects and they were taking Alaskan cruises. And a lot of projects, yeah.

Alrighty, I gotta get back to my story.

Sorry. Another forty one pilgrims signed the compact and then elected. mister John Carver. as their governor for that year. Work then proceeded on a storehouse and and small cottages to live in.

Laws were made as the the need arose for their protection. both in the civil and military governments. work on the town which they call Plymouth went slowly as the winter storms raged, The following months were hard. and difficult times. Discontent.

When the times break out and but was handled with wisdom and patience by the governor. The saddest part of that that first winter was that in those first two to three months, One half of their members died. It was especially bad in January and February, which are the worst of the winter months. Housing was still not good and good enough and the people and the sailors became infected with scurvy and other diseases which had been brought on by the long hard sea voyage.

Now during those months Two or three people would die each day. Over a hundred died in all. And at the end of the winter There were barely fifty pilgrims remaining. One of these remaining were. Of those remaining There were only six or seven that were of sound health.

These few spend all their time and energy fetching wood for fires and taking care of the sick. Two men worked the hardest. They were Mr. William Brewster. And their Reverend Elder and Miles Standish, their military commander.

Their health was so good. the entire time that they never were sick. These two men God saw fit to guard Those who were well would give of of themselves unselfishly. to help the others. Bradford wrote that he did not doubt that their rewards waited for them in heaven.

During These first months the winter The Indians would often come by the camp and watch. But when approached they would run away. Once they even stole the pilgrims' tools while the pilgrims had gone to dinner At about the sixteenth of March, a certain Indian came boldly amongst them. He's spoken. Broken English.

Which was the Pilgrims. which the pilgrims could understand. and marvelled at The Indian told how he was. not of that part of the country. but of an eastern part.

English ships had come to fish, and the English had taught him to speak English. and he returned and taught them about the area and the Indians living there. His name was Savassett. Samoset also spoke of another Indian named Squato. who was a native of the Plymouth area, but Had been taken to England for a while and could speak.

Better English. The pilgrims and Samoset talked and entertained each other for a while. Then he left. A while later he returned with five other Indians and the tools which had been stolen. Sammas had said they were making the way for their Sekhilm, their chief.

Could master suck. About four or five days later. Their chief arrived with other Indians. And the one named Squanto, The pilgrims and the Indian chief made peace with each other. and they established the following treaty Neither the Indians nor the pilgrims were to hurt or injure.

The other. If someone did hurt one or the other, then the offender would be sent to the other for punishment. If any was anything was stolen from either side, it had to be returned. If any any one should unjustly make war on the other, then they would Help each other. They would let the other tribes in the area and the new arriving settlers know.

about these terms so peace could be kept. When they visited each other, all weapons would be left behind. Spring was now approaching. The sick grew better. The dying stopped.

The pilgrims had gone through much. with patience and Contendance They were truly upheld by the hand of Almighty God. In the beginning of April. the Mayflower was finally sent back to England. The mariners had built lodging for the winter.

and we're happy to to finally be on their way home. The time had arrived for planning. And all who were able to begin to plant corn. Squanto was there to show them. And it was of much help.

Squatter showed them. How to plant a fish with each seed. or else the corn would not grow. The fish provided moisture and helped to Fertilize the seed. He also showed them how to store water.

and how to tend the corn. The British seeds which the pilgrims had brought with them did not grow because they had gone bad during the sea voyage. On September eighteenth a small boat was sent out. in the bay to explore the area. There were tales of an Eastern people who would raid the villages and steal the corn and kill the people.

They returned safely with plenty of beaver. The men were were sorry that the town had not been built on the other side. But God assigns the boundaries of each man's habitations. God had different plans. For the other areas.

The pilgrims found that the Lord To be with them. In all that they did, Bradford praised his name forever. to all posterity. The seasons were getting on, and the pilgrims began to gather and and their small harvest and and get ready for the winter. Many said about fishing.

brought in cod and bass and other fish, There were some that had no Yeah. No one at all summer.

Now they would have to store much.

so that there would be no want during the long winter. Waterfowl, wild turkeys, venison, and other foods were stored away. The storehouse was filled when they were done. Many wrote home to England about all the food that they had. On November 16, 21 arrived.

and with it a small ship which was not expected. mister Cushman and thirty five other pilgrims arrived. Concern arose about having enough food for the winter as the newcomers arrived. without provisions. The new arrivals were welcomed happily.

But it was wished that they had at least brought clothes or beds or pots to cook with. With the new arrivals came a letter from Mr. Weston in England. He was upset at how long the Mayflower had been kept. Before its return.

The fact that the ship did not return full of things to sell And many other complaints. The second ship, called the Fortune, was quickly dispatched. with a full cargo of clapboard and beaver skins for England. Mr Cushman returned. with a ship to inform mister Weston of all that was going on in the colony.

And there were more pilgrims. waitin' an' latin' to come to New England. And mister Weston had promised to provide transportation for all that wanted to come.

Well after the ship left The new covers placed with the existed families, An account of the provisions was taken. it was discovered that if if they gave everyone half of what they had anticipated, The food Would only last six months They found it hard to be able to eat only half of what they had planned. but did so with the hope of more supplies reaching them. In May of sixteen twenty-two, with the food almost completely gone. The pilgrims spotted a small ship in the bay.

It arrived from mister Weston with seven more pilgrims, but no provisions. mister Weston's other ships were a short distance away fishing. But would not venture to Cape Cod. Everyone was by then quite hungry. They were reminded of Psalm one eighteen eight.

It is better to trust in the Lord than to have confidence in man. mister Weston was happy to send more pilgrims but always seemed to forget and to send more food. The pilgrims now in their desperation turned to God and the Bible for comfort. All their hopes for help from Mr. Weston were gone.

All his promises for providing them were empty words Many became very bitter in their spirit about their plight. Shortly thereafter. Mr. Weston. again said the ship, with sixty more men to the colonies.

These men would eventually go to the Massachusetts Bay, but for a while they were placed with the pilgrims. Many were sick and had to be taken care of. Food was running out. The newcomers were unruly. An unruly bunch they were.

Bradford and the others became fearful of what would happen to the colony. The sixty men finally left for Massachusetts Bay. But famine was growing. each day. Just when all seem the lost, the Lord never fails.

provided, again, a small ship was sighted. The ship was from Virginia. The captain spared all that he could, and he told his men to do the same. The pilgrims received not only food, but knowledge of the area in relation to Virginia. The food, when divided for so many, did not amount to much, but God blessed it.

and it was enough to keep them until the harvest. The harvest, which was now ripe, was too small. was not enough for the whole year, the people were were not accustomed to growing Indian corn. Many could not work hard due to starving, but Of the harvest. Part of that harvest was stolen before it could even ripen.
