Nehemiah prioritized God's work, staying focused on rebuilding Jerusalem's walls despite opposition, distractions, and character attacks. He demonstrated spiritual discernment, knowing God's word and prioritizing God's glory. This story serves as a reminder to stay engaged in God's great work, using spiritual discernment to navigate opposition and distractions, and keeping our motive focused on God's glory.

Your chosen Truth Network Podcast is playing now. I love to have a little bit of context and perhaps you're a guest here today or perhaps you've kind of missed a few weeks of our series. I want to kind of fill you in on exactly what's happening so that you can understand the state of where we are in the book of Nehemiah. The book of Nehemiah picks up over a hundred years after Persia had invaded Babylon and if you remember years before that Babylon had invaded Jerusalem and the children of Israel.

They completely destroyed the city of Jerusalem. Babylon did and now Persia comes onto the scene and they overtake Babylon and the king of the Persians he actually sent back the Jews. He said we don't have any use for you so if you're a Jew and you were captured by Babylon you're free to go back. So many of them left went back to Jerusalem which was their homeland and then some of them had the option of staying there with the Persians. One of those was Nehemiah. He stayed in the Persian area and he ended up working his way up into leadership where he was the second in command. He was the king's cup bearer and so anything that was going to the king had to go before or through Nehemiah before it got to him.

So he was super important working for the Persian king. Well many of the Jews went back to Jerusalem back to their homeland and so about a hundred years later Nehemiah's brother who had returned to Jerusalem he came to visit Nehemiah there in Persia and when he came to visit him Nehemiah asked him hey what's the state of our people what's the state of Jerusalem where God you know met there as a very spiritually sacred place for the Jewish people where Solomon's temple was and where God would meet with them and Nehemiah's brother began to tell him that they are in great affliction and reproach and that they are in pain and they're just discouraged and so as you can imagine Nehemiah is getting all of this information he's like why is that and his brother begins to tell him because nothing has happened to Jerusalem since the Babylonians had invaded. In other words when they came in years and years before and tore down the walls of Jerusalem burned down Solomon's temple tore down the gate into the city nothing had been rebuilt back. Now that would be pretty devastating right it'd be devastating if they just left everything the way it was it'd be a physical defeat because everywhere you look around there's everything on the ground there's rubble laying around from the walls and there's rubble laying around in the middle of the city where Solomon's temple was there's probably ash laying around from where the fires were it was just a terrible terrible look and it was a reminder though of not only just a physical defeat when they lost to the Babylonians it was a reminder of the spiritual defeat that they experienced as well.

You see the Babylonians not only invaded them but the reason they invaded them is because the children of Israel continued to rebel so this was a constant reminder for the Jewish people of the defeat not only a physical defeat but also a spiritual defeat in that they rebelled against the one true God of Israel. Well Nehemiah he gets all of this information and when he did he it says in chapter number one that he prayed that he fasted and he waited on God to tell him what he needed to do about this devastating news that he heard. Well the scripture in chapter one shows us that he prayed and fasted for about five months before he did anything with what he had just heard. By the way good application for you if God is calling you to do something then you need to pray before you before you act and that's exactly what Nehemiah did so he's praying and fasting for months and months. Finally in chapter two he goes before the king and he asked him now he was his right-hand man he asked him if he could have some time off so that he could go back to to Jerusalem to help rebuild the city. Now the Persian king was a pagan king he wasn't a Christian he didn't serve the one true God of Israel but the pagan king sent him on his way sent him with letters so that as he crossed over the different borders on his way back to Jerusalem that those letters would provide protection and permission for him and then also he gave him materials and supplies to help him get started with the walls. Well in chapter number three he arrives to Jerusalem and he begins to assign different people the responsibilities of what they're going to be doing so he decided hey you are working on the gate you're working on the walls you're doing this that whatever I'm not good at construction or building anything so I don't know where I would have landed in this if I lived during his day.

I get nervous every time we buy something for the kids and it's not I just tell Abby just buy the the display if we can if I can find a way to get it home let's buy the display so it's already put together. One of me and my wife's first major fights was over putting together a little like house to play in outside for my daughter and she you can ask her about that it was fun and so but I don't know where I I don't know where I would have landed but in chapter three he's kind of assigning everybody all their different responsibilities and then in chapter number four we find that there was some opposition that the enemy brought up against Nehemiah and the work that he was called to do by by God. Here's the principle that we learn is that anytime you say yes to something that God is calling you to do there's always going to be opposition. Now that doesn't that make you want to just sign up to serve Jesus right knowing that there's opposition you say why is that isn't serving Jesus supposed to be easy isn't serving Jesus supposed to be like a bed of roses and everything going right all of the the time well here's why there's opposition is because we have an enemy the scripture says that our enemy walks about seeking whom he may devour the enemy hates what God is wanting to do in our community what God is wanting to do in our church what God is wanting to do around the world so what the enemy does is the enemy tries to rise up opposition around us to try to get the work of God to stop and so in chapter number four he rose up opposition from outside the Jewish camp man by the name of Sam Balot a man by the name of Tobiah these guys that the enemy used to try and kill Nehemiah they also mocked Nehemiah and the work they ridiculed Nehemiah thinking that if we attack his character and make fun of Nehemiah long enough he's finally going to be on the wall and say enough's enough I'm not doing this anymore this is way too too hard well Nehemiah he kept going in chapter four and the ridicule and the mockery of all the Sam Balot, Tobiah and all their followers didn't work so in chapter five the enemy's like man if I can't get him to stop what he's doing with people outside of the Jewish camp then I'm going to have to start to stir up some problems within the Jewish camp in order for him to stop so he tried to get everybody fighting and Nehemiah he tells the Jewish people they're now bickering with one another over taxes and over all these different things Nehemiah rebuked sin and he tells them that we got to keep moving and doing what God is wanting us to do so the enemy notices that the opposition from outside the camp didn't work opposition from inside the camp didn't work and so as we come to chapter number six the wall is nearing its completion and so the enemy decides we got to do everything in our power to stop the work of God they could tell that that the window to stop what God was trying to do there in Jerusalem was closing and so the enemy's going to try everything in its power to stop it you say why was this so important to the to the enemy because Jerusalem was so important it was the capital city and it's where Solomon's temple was it's where the presence of God would dwell and so the enemy knew that if that city gets rebuilt back and that the one true God of Israel comes onto the scene again fighting for the for the Jewish people that the enemy does not stand a chance and so they notice that the the wall is about to be complete we got to do something that brings us to chapter number six and we see the new schemes of of the enemy and of the opposition here's what it says we're going to read by the way we're going to read 16 verses okay I'm going to give you some commentary if you forgot your bible today it will be up on the screens and so hopefully that'll help you stay engaged as we work through this together here's what it says now it came to pass when Sambalat and Tobiah and Geshem the Arabian and the rest of our enemies heard that I had built the wall and that there was no breach left therein though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gate so Nehemiah gives us a little bit of building update and so here he is he's got the uh the walls they're they're done there's no breach in other words that they can protect everybody on the inside there's no holes in the wall it is good it is clear everything is great the only thing left to do at this point is the gate that allows people in and out verse number two that Sambalat and Geshem they sent unto him saying come let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono now here's the thing so what happens is Nehemiah he's finishing so the gates the only thing left there when it comes to the walls around Jerusalem and as he's working and as he's working he gets message from somebody who delivered a message from Sambalat Tobiah and Geshem now they were the enemies that that he had and that he's working through and that he's continuing to persevere with and the message says Nehemiah why don't you join us in the plains of Ono and so Nehemiah receives this message and he says oh no I'm not going to do that okay okay was that too big of a dad joke you guys didn't laugh hard enough I was hoping I've been waiting all week for that moment and so you guys kind of let me down a little bit on that I'm just making sure you're paying attention so he gets this this message from uh you know these guys and he says hey meet us in the plane of Ono now here's what you need to know about the plane of of Ono it was located about 40 miles northwest from Jerusalem now 40 miles that's a good ways away right but for us with with interstates and with cars and things like that 40 miles you could probably go to Ono and you could come back and that kind of thing but for them a 40 mile journey it wasn't short in other words what Nehemiah understood when he received this message from Sambalat Tobiah and Geshem to meet in Ono it sounded like fine that it wasn't an ugly message it was like hey join us in the plane of Ono but what Nehemiah recognized was listen that's going to be days maybe months away from the work that God had called him to so that he could go to this place of of Ono but at the end of verse number two it says but they thought to do me mischief in other words Nehemiah had spiritual discernment by the way we all need spiritual discernment you need discernment in your life it's so important and we'll talk about discernment here in a few moments but here's the point Nehemiah he received this message from them as he's almost done and he knew that even though this seemed you know chill this seemed like a good meeting there wasn't anything bad he knew that they wanted to do him mischief they wanted to harm him that this wasn't just a cordial nice little meeting hey come hang out with us let's try to connect let's try to partner it wasn't anything nice no it was a problem and they wanted to harm him verse three so his response i sent messengers unto them saying i am doing a great work so that i cannot come down why should the work cease while i leave it and come down to you in other words what he's saying is the work that God has called me to it is a great work and i do not have time to be distracted with what you're asking me to do i don't have i don't have time to be distracted to come off this wall and to head to the plane of Ono i don't have time to spend you know days with you and things like that God has led me to be involved in a great work i do not have time to come down verse four yet they sent unto me four times you see their persistence after this sort and i answered them every single time after the same manner so he got this opportunity to distract him and now he's like he told him no so once again anytime you tell him no the enemy what does he do he has another play he's coming back at him coming back at him verse number five then sent sam ballot his servant unto me in a like manner the fifth time this time he had an open letter in his hand now an open letter it's exactly what it is it's an it's an unsealed letter so in other words as it's getting passed from you know the different people to deliver it to nehemiah everybody could look at what the content of this letter is and and so here comes this letter from the enemy to nehemiah verse six wherein in the letter was written it is reported among the heathen and gash moves sayeth it that thou and the jews think to rebel for which cause thou buildest the wall that thou mayest be their king according to these these words so a couple of things about this open letter that that was sent to nehemiah so he receives it in the letter it started out by saying this it is posted among the heathen in other words everybody feels this way let me say this that normally critics and opposition they normally start this way right when i receive critics and and opposition within the church somebody emails me or reaches out here's normally what it says normally says man everybody's saying this everybody's talking about this everybody feels this way but you know what i find is anytime i say hey can you name me who are we talking about here nobody wants to name anybody right because critics a lot of times they use that as kind of ammunition so that you could see their their perspective they'll say things like man everybody feels this way and they just assume that everybody feels a certain way when in reality it's just them well that's the nature of this letter it's like hey it's been reported among everybody everybody feels this way about you nehemiah and so he reads it and he says okay there's the first red flag the second red flag is it says this it says that the reason you're doing this the reason you're building the wall and the reason you're rebuilding jerusalem is because you just want to be their king that's the only reason why you came back to jerusalem nehemiah is because you want to be their king and remember this is an open letter and so it went through several different hands to get to him meaning that there's a lot of people reading this and there's just lies and defamation of character and and questioning his motives and all this stuff and they're saying that hey listen for you the only reason you want to do this nehemiah is so that you can be the king verse number seven which we know that not to be true verse seven and thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at jerusalem saying there is a king in juda and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words come now therefore and let us take counsel together now have we seen any of that in scripture so far that's not true like this this letter was lies about nehemiah lies about about why he came back to jerusalem questioning his his motives you say what does have to do with nehemiah staying in the business that god's called him to here's why is because they were thinking that if we got a lot of people questioning the character of nehemiah if we got a lot of people questioning nehemiah's motives right that he would have to come down from the wall as he's about done he'd have to come down and he'd begin to try to defend himself right listen for us i mean don't we want to defend ourselves somebody says something bad about you what's your first thing you want to go on the defense right you ever had you know on social media and just be honest if you uh you got something you had maybe a quarrel or a problem with a friend or something and uh and they go to social media and they just want to release something on social media about you but they don't want to use your name you know what i'm talking about it's kind of like they say some clever statement and you know it's about you right you ever been there is that just me just me okay and so uh but when you see it and you know they're talking about you what's your first first response you want to defend yourself right you want to kind of jump in the comment section and just kind of hey you don't understand the whole story whatever and things like that think about it this way is like um on facebook and some of your probably facebook users and on facebook we have uh here in our community uh we have a north davidson like facebook community page or whatever it's great i mean very positive never a dull negative moment in there nobody says anything bad about anything in there and so um it's awesome and there's this north davidson community page and from time to time you know i've seen in my years of being here somebody might talk bad about the church or the school or whatever and things like that and you know what i naturally want to do i want to jump into the comment section right they don't know the whole story and everybody else is kind of chiming in saying different things about it and your first response is you want to defend yourself right that we're all human beings that's what we do and so we type this long response out and then i start to think like that's probably not a good idea so i have to backspace for a while on my phone right you see the point was is they felt they felt that if they could attack his character he'd be like wow i need to come down the wall and i need to defend myself and it would take time away from what he was being called to do verse number eight so i sent to them saying there are no such things done as they'll say us but thou faintest them out of their own heart in other words you just thought of those things yourself there's no truth there's no truth to what you're trying to say in this letter for they all made us first nine made us afraid saying their hands shall be weakened from the work that it be not done now therefore oh god strengthen my hands in other words their motive was that we the jewish people would fear and when we are fearful we're not going to accomplish the work that god has called us to do we're not going to be strong about it verse 10 afterward i came into the house of shamaya the son of deliah the son of may hate to bill there's great names if you're if you're having a baby and stuff just keep these in mind who was shut up and he said let us meet together in the house of god within the temple let us shut the doors of the temple for they will come to slavy yea in the night will they come to to slavy so so you have hey come to oh no meet us right that's a distraction then they're like man that didn't work so now they throw at him another thing this open letter trying to attack his character that didn't work and so now there there's this guy shamaya who invites nehemiah he says hey these guys sam ballot to buy they're going to kill you they're going to slay you why don't you come find refuge in the temple why don't you come find safety in the temple right and and by the way if you just hear that that sounds pretty good if i was to if you were running for for your life right and i said hey come to the church find refuge in the church you would assume that's a good thing right but here once again nehemiah had to show discernment even though something good was offered to him he had to show spiritual discernment look at what he says in verse number uh verse number 11 he said i said should such a man as i flee and who is there that being as i am would go into the temple to save his life i will not go in and lo i perceive that god had not sent him but that he pronounced this prophecy against me for tibiah and sam ballot had hired him hired him to try to get him to come into the temple why verse 13 therefore was he hired that i should be afraid and because of my fear and do so and sin that they might have matter for an evil report that they might reproach me the reason why this was spiritual discernment is when he was offered an opportunity to come into the temple only the priest could go into the temple according to the old testament jewish law only the priests were allowed into the temple and nehemiah was not a priest so when he was invited by this guy shamaya to come into the temple he used his spiritual discernment in knowing god's word and he he knew that god's word will never contradict the work of god and so he was able to use his spiritual discernment to know this is not a thing of god this is a thing from the from the enemy verse 14 my god think thou um upon tibiah and sam ballot according to these their works and on the prophetess uh noadiah and the rest of the prophets that would have put me in fear so the wall was finished in the 20 and fifth day of the month elul in 52 days the wall got done i tried to find these guys to build our building but i could they weren't available and so but verse 16 says and it came to pass that when all of our enemies heard thereof and all the heathen that were about us saw these things they were much cast down in their own eyes for they perceived that this work was wrought of our god so so listen what a great a great story and such a good application for us listen nehemiah prioritized what god was calling him to do nothing was going to distract him from this because he knew that if he was involved in a great work or if he was involved in god's work it was a great work now here's the big idea that i want to kind of share with you today we are all called to engage in god's work which is a great work we are all called to engage in god's work which is a great work by the way let's just do this together let's read this together it's up on the screen we are all called to engage in god's work which is a great work here nehemiah the wall is almost done he's almost done he's come back and he's been working hard and uh the persian king gave him over 50 days off and here he is he's almost done with the work but all these distractions and things that are being thrown at him from the enemy he wasn't willing to allow those to distract them from what he is doing listen church the application for us as a church is this is that you know god has led us to this point and i'm grateful for it but here's what i'll tell you when we sign up to do god's work and we say yes to taking a step of faith towards doing god's work let me remind you it is a great work why should we come down to the things that distract us for us listen so i mean we we purchased the property that we're breaking ground on over 15 years ago like many of you have have given if you remember like many of you have given for years and years some of you older timers that's not an old joke but you know back in the day you you remember you gave so much like there were there were some bricks on the wall if you remember that raise your hand you remember that okay we had bricks on the wall kind of showing progress for where we're going and stuff like that and let me tell you this if you've been given you're engaged in a great work if you've been serving many of you serve week after week and you've heard about this for so long and and you know it's coming and you're kind of waiting and waiting and waiting and you might have even lost some hope and stuff but you stayed serving throughout the many years before and you stayed in your place and you kept going let me tell you this you're engaged in a great work you're engaged in a great work many of you not only give you serve some of you invite and you're bringing people in knowing that you know there's some good things coming and we're excited you're engaged in a great work why should the work stop while we come come down why should we get off the wall and be distracted by the things that the world has to offer us and so for just a couple of minutes i'm not going to spend a whole lot of time because the text kind of speaks for itself i want to look at the great work that god is leading us to look at this first i want you to see this the opposition of engaging in god's great work i've said this and you learn this anytime you get engaged in god's work opposition's coming it's coming i wish it wasn't that way but it is the enemy hates what god is wanting to do in our community our church and around the world so he's going to send opposition he's going to rise up opposition the first thing our opposition will do and we learned this from nehemiah it's going to try to distract us we saw that in verses one through four hey join us in the plane of oh no right it doesn't seem anything bad or hateful about that hey come chill you know we'll go to dinner we'll connect you know maybe play golf i'm sure they had golf back then i don't know and so that's a joke some of you're like really golf was back then wow and so but you know all this it sounded like a decent invitation but listen it would distract him it's 40 miles away it would distract him from doing the work let me tell you this that sometimes the enemy is going to throw things in your direction to distract you from doing what god has called you to do like think about it this way it's like now i'm a sports guy i love sports and so my kids are all and so my kids are always engaged in sports but if sports like takes me away from what god has called me to do here then it would be like nehemiah there's nothing wrong with sports right we love sports and we're all involved in sports so i would say sports pretty good thing right just like hanging out in in the plains of oh no i'm sure it's a good thing but let me tell you this if it takes me off the wall of what god has called me to do then it has distracted me from the work that god has called me to do listen sometimes the enemy's going to throw things in your direction that are good things but all he's doing is try to distract you from the work that god is trying to do through you so we got to use spiritual discernment so that we stay on the wall not only will our opposition try to distract you our opposition will try to defame you you're it's going to attack your character just like the the open letter that sam ballot sent it tried to attack his motives tried to attack his character let me tell you this the enemy is going to when you start serving god in some capacity in the church and you start giving or whatever here's what's going to happen the enemy's going to try to do anything in its power to get you away from doing that because he knows that you're being used by god so what he's going to do he's going to rise up somebody that's going to question your motives she only sings because she just wants all the glory you're going to hear that what does that do takes you off the wall from serving god and then you stop and you know what the enemy's rejoicing because he got you to stop what god has called you to do or or he's going to use somebody that's going to rise up oh they only do that because they just want some glory and some people to talk good about them and all this kind of stuff and next thing you know what's that going to do that defamation of your character and your motives don't let that take you away nehemiah he was faced with the same thing but he said hey god has called me to a great word i'm not coming down i don't have any time to come down this is what god has called me to do not only will our opposition try to distract us defame us and attack our character our opposition will try to deceive us like trust the deceiving by by the prophet shemaiah you know hey coming to the temple what a great place to find refuge but i'll tell you this not if the enemy's the one who sent sent them to invite you and let me tell you this is sometimes you're we can be deceived about different things that the enemy's throwing at us and it can distract us from the work that god wants to do through us so so what do we do if the opposition is going to deceive us and distract us and attack our character and defame us what's what's the answer the answer is spiritual discernment like that's the theme of nehemiah chapter number six and so here here's what we must do is the discernment i want you to see this the discernment of engaging in god's great work you're going to see that we must have spiritual discernment like you say what like you say what are how do we have spiritual discernment because i would love to have that right like look at nehemiah he's just you know kind of you know spouting all these different oppositions are coming at him and he's just putting his arm out and stiff arm and all these different oppositions coming at him it's like man how in the world do you have that type of spiritual discernment it's very simple here's how you have it you got to know the word of god you must know the word of god like the only way that you can have spiritual discernment is you got to know what god says in his word let me tell you this it's impossible to know the will of god without being in the word of god 100 of the time it's impossible to know when i was student pastor i used to have students come up to me all the time and they would you know these kids about to graduate and things like that and they would come up to me and they'd be praying about their next steps and stuff and so they'd come to me and say pastor josh i don't know what i'm supposed to do with my life i don't know you know the answer to this question what college am i supposed to attend where am i supposed to go what career field and stuff like that just like a youth pastor just knows all those things right and they'd come to me and they'd just ask me all these questions first question i ever asked them was this every single time well are you in the word of god and then that's not what i asked pastor josh i asked what am i what college am i supposed to attend what what career field here's what i'm going to tell you you can't make a decision about what god is leading you to do if you're not in the word of god you say why is that it's because this is the way god speaks to us this is god's love letter that is written for you everything you need to know about god is found in this book and so this is why we we want you in the book not because we have nothing else better to do like hey man we need something to do this year let's just throw out a bible reading plan for the church you know or we don't have anything else better to do let's do this thing called bible fellowships where we try to encourage people to go to classes and learn on a deeper level and stuff like that you know i mean why not do that we have nothing else but it's not because we have nothing else better to do we can fill our time with a lot of good things but here's what i'm going to tell you the reason why we do that is because we want every single one of you to have a daily not just at church a daily personal relationship with the word of god because if you're in the book on your own every single day it will help give you the spiritual discernment to make decisions when the enemy throws opposition your way that's why we got to be in the word you got to know the word it's practical for you if you read it you're like man i don't get any of this right you ever read that's how i felt growing up i didn't understand half of it but when you get into the book the spirit of god will speak to you and show you what you need to know for the situation that he has you in that's what the word of god does not only do we need to know the word but secondly your motive must be the glory of god like this is the second thing i see in this story is this if you look down at verse 16 after all this had happened the wall gets built you know what is the last thing they say for they that's all the other people around them that sought to do them harm they perceived that this work was wrought of our god listen our motive must be the glory of god it must be his name being known at the end of this nehemiah recognized hey listen the goal was that everybody know who god was listen for us as a church we're about to take a step and build a building and stuff listen it's not about union grove's name it's not about your name it's not about our church's name you know what it is the reason we're taking a step of faith is so that everybody in this community has an opportunity to know the name of jesus christ to know him to have a relationship we're about his name his glory it's not for us it's for him it's not for our glory it's for his glory you see this is what drove nehemiah he wanted everyone to know god and think about it nehemiah came from persia second in command big time leader comes down to jerusalem mobilizes all these different people and in 52 days this wall was built listen if nehemiah was around today right he'd be the featured speaker at every conference known to man he'd be the you know the guy that everybody you'd leave union grove to go sit under his ministry that kind of guy right you know what i'm talking about everybody would want to ask him questions about everything he'd write a ton of books and everything you know on leadership and all this kind of stuff because he was that type of leader but listen he wasn't about his personal name getting known at all he was about god's name being known to the nations he wanted all those guys to know hey listen this isn't us it's not nehemiah it's bigger than us it's god's name here here's my challenge to you very quickly before we baptize some people here in a moment here's my challenge it's this if you you've been on the wall at our church for some time serving giving you know just kind of day in day out week in week out you're serving you're serving and you're you're doing your thing and you're in your place every single week and you're just like man what what good is this like why do we continue to do this and all this kind of stuff here's my challenge to you stay on the wall stay on the wall don't get distracted don't don't come down from your service and where god's called you to where god is using you don't come down off the wall for things that are going to distract you for for what people say about you or for any deception that has thrown your direction those are just lies from the enemy stay on the wall because time is short time is short people are are lost and and there's people dying and going to hell every single day we do not have time to be distracted and to come off the wall and give up our post and things like we don't have time for that we must stay engaged in the great work that god has called us to my challenge to you don't come down would you stand with me heads bowed hearts lifted in prayer nobody's looking around this is just a time with you and the lord but if you're in here today and you say pastor nobody's looking around this is just you and god but many of us like we get distracted we get distracted by good things and we get distracted by different things sometimes and and a lot of times the distraction straight from the enemy and the enemy always trying to do is get us off the wall because he knows if you stop serving you stop giving you stop doing all of these things that the work of god will not be able to go forward that that he's going to hinder what god wants to do through you you see god has given us a mission and he has called every single one of us to engage in the mission that god has called us to and with that being said stay on the wall for some of you you for some of you you stopped serving years ago or months ago because of something somebody said to you or something somebody said about you or you got distracted with something that pulled you away from service and you're sitting on the sidelines now it's as if you're on the bottom of the wall watching nehemiah and all these jews work and be a part of what god is wanting them to do listen get on the wall get engaged in what god is wanting to do and what god wants to do through you we're gonna have just a time of prayer and invitation listen wherever you're at listen you can just pray and spend time with god do business with him perhaps that is you perhaps you have come down from the wall because of different things listen get back up on the wall stay on the wall stay engaged in what god is wanting to do in and through you
