Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. The Bible verse made the Bible come alive for you. I love what the biographer of Eugene Peterson said. He said he had a conversational intimacy with the Bible. In other words, the Bible certainly is alive and breathing, and I hope you've tasted it and you've seen how amazing that is.
I really, really do. And I would love to hear your take. Like, there was this verse, right? And I just kept thinking about it, and it just all of a sudden came alive, and the Bible came alive for me. And the next thing I know, I started to have that conversational intimacy with the Scriptures.
I mean, it's one of the most amazing things I know I've ever experienced. And I'll actually tell you that for me, I was a car salesman, complete heathen, whatever you want to call me. And I picked up a book by Norman Vincent Peale that said, you know, if you want to get a positive mental attitude, you need to read the Bible an hour every day, and you need to pray before you read it. Otherwise, you never understand it.
And I didn't realize that was some of the best advice I would ever get. And so I started reading through the Bible, and actually, I kept getting madder and madder and madder at God. And then I came to this verse where God was addressing Job in the book of Job. And essentially, he was saying, Job, you know, where were you when I set the tides?
He was really saying, Robbie, where were you? And he had this verse. He said, why don't you stick a hook in a behemoth and see what you do? That I had no idea what a behemoth was. So I actually went down to a Christian bookstore and bought a, you know, asked the lady, what should I buy?
And they gave me a Matthew Henry commentary so I could look up the idea of what in the world a behemoth was. And the more I studied the verse and the more I got into that, all of a sudden I realized, man, there was so much that I don't know. And the more I did it, eventually it came alive and I could see, like, man, God is so much more than I ever thought. And I got a real problem.
I don't know him and all those things. And the Bible came alive for me. And from that point on, I no longer read it from a curiosity standpoint. I started reading it because it was alive. And I could realize that life came from that. And I was excited that that was going to happen.
And so how about you? What verse or how did that happen for you where you realize, man, this Bible, it is alive and breathing and living and all those things. Maybe there's a particular life verse or something along those lines we're so excited to have with us today.

And I can hardly wait to hear some of those. But before I hear those from Michael, I would love to hear yours or during the time I'm hearing from Michael. Like, how did that happen for you?

And I hope you've tasted and seen that. Michael, this is a big thing around the world that people need Bibles. And you guys have that available through Bible League.
OK, Robbie, thanks for an hour together today. You know, we're in the final days of this campaign. We're calling this the world craze, the word Bibles for the under-resourced church.
Yeah, you know, what's the reason for this? OK, in an age of technology, you know, where a smartphone means you can probably download a Bible, you know, instantly or, you know, there's bookstores, there's Amazon. Aren't those options available to Christians in places like China and the Middle East?
And Robbie, the answer is no. As a ministry 86 years young, our genesis came Good Friday 1938 in the Chicago area. And then we expanded globally over the last eight and a half decades. But again, we found there are certainly reasons that you would understand persecution, right? You know, if there's governments and majority religions that just hate Christianity, you're not going to find a Bible if you live remotely. I've been in Africa where you find people that have never looked at the face of a clock. They've never answered a cell phone. That's remote, isn't it? And then also people that live on about seven hundred dollars a year.
It's about two dollars a day. Robbie, you simply cannot afford a Bible. But, you know, the other reason that we see the growth right now is entirely on the Lord.
You know what it is? The church is growing incredibly in places like Latin America, the Middle East, the continent of Africa, the region of Asia. It's sort of on the decline here in America.
But again, that's the reason. And I can tell you as a global ministry that, you know, we see millions that come to Christ every year. We're struggling to keep up with the incredible, incredible demand for God's word around the world. And so, you know, my prayer is we are together this hour is that, number one, all these stories all of our time together would glorify the Lord. We want to brag about our gracious God. But secondly, would be an encouragement to you and your listeners, Robbie, because I know we all pray that the gospel would take grip all over the world in even some of the most difficult of places. And I can tell you that's truly happening. There's a growth rate of about four percent now in places like China and places like the continent of Africa.
Normally, that's around two percent. But it means that there are millions coming to Christ every year all over the world, and they need God's word to be able to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus, to understand the Lord's will for their lives and to be able to share him with others. And so that's the reason the Truth Network and Bible League. We're in the middle of this campaign. In fact, we're really at the end of it. And Robbie, we said together we want to bless two thousand five hundred Bible as believers. We've done that.
I should say, truth listeners, you've done it for fifteen hundred. We literally have the final one thousand waiting Christians to take care of. And we've been given an extra week, a praise award, an extra week till Sunday, November 17th. That's the absolute final day for this campaign. I did it myself, and I know it works out simply. But again, share with us, Michael, a little bit about what the Bible League is doing in those places. Yeah, and I'm going to take you to the Middle East and kind of unfold for you how Bible League carries out this ministry all over the world as I do that.
Let me say thanks to Tori. She said, Michael, Robbie, I want to be a part of this at 20 Bibles. Seth said, Count me in at a dozen Bibles. And then David said, I want to be a part of this $100 gift, enough for 20 Bibles. And then each one of those, Robbie, doubled because of his Bible for Bible match. You know, it really ought to be of comfort to you listeners, as Bible League and Truth Network have worked together for many, many years. And the result is that thousands of Bible-less believers who really had no hope of a Bible, new believers who've left all the isms of the world are new to the faith. But now they have God's word.
They're using those Bibles to make much of him, to point others to the hope of the gospel. And Robbie, that's true in the life of the young lady that I met of 19 years of age. I'll call her Aria. I met her in the Middle East, only miles from the current Israeli-Hamas conflict. And Robbie, as we went from village to village there in the Middle East, I mean, we could hear the Islamic call to prayer. You could tell people were very devout in their faith when you would hear those Islamic calls to prayer from the mosques in all the places we visited. You could see people drop face Mecca, engage in their prayers five times a day. You know, Aria said, Michael, that's who I was, a devout Muslim. I read my Koran.
I said my prayers. But when none of that brought any peace, she said, a Christian friend of mine, somebody who stayed in my life, really model what it meant to follow Christ, invited me to a Bible study. And she would be a part of that with about 15 others week by week going through the gospel of John, paired together with a little study that Bible Ego produced many, many decades ago in the languages of the world. And it would introduce people to Christ. How is Jesus both God and man?
What's it mean to die to self and to put on Jesus in the day to day? And I can tell you a long story short, Aria would come to see that in her her religion, Allah only demanded. But she said, as I looked at Christianity, I saw something very sweet and precious, and that is that Jesus laid down his life for me. And she said, I I accepted his forgiveness. She became a believer.
Robbie, I'd like to tell you her wife got easier. Did not because she still lived at home as a late teenager. Her mother rummaged in a room, found this little Bible study booklet from Bible League, gave it to her father, who, as a radicalized man, was not happy about his daughter's new Christian faith. In fact, he beat her nearly to death.
It didn't end there, though. He called the authorities to report her as an infidel. They took her to a remote cell and assaulted her, kept her for a couple of weeks, very little food, water, no outside communication. But they finally let her go, told her to never talk about Jesus.
But Robbie, I can tell you, they think a big mistake. They unleashed a young woman on fire for Christ. And I can tell you with about about 20 or 30 others in her local evangelical church, they would begin to invite people to learn about Jesus. And as these seekers found out about what Aria went through as a new believer, they said, we want this Christ as well.
And I can tell you, Robbie, about 300 people, only miles from the Israeli Hamas conflict, have come to place their faith in Jesus Christ. And you know what I ask her? How can we pray for you? Robbie, she never once said, hey, pray for an end to our suffering. She knows that God works through even extreme suffering that she's endured. She said, pray that we'll love God with every fiber of our being. She said, pray that we'll obey him at every circumstance. She said, pray that we'll see those around us that hate us because we follow Jesus.
We'll see them not as the enemy, but as the mission field. And she said, Michael, we need Bibles. Believers here need to be able to endure and to persevere. And when you feel like you're outnumbered, to be able to open a scripture and see that God knows you intimately.
She said, that's everything. And so, Robbie, I come to you today not preaching ourselves, but Christ crucified and asking on behalf of people like Aria and those 300 new believers only miles from the current Israeli Hamas conflict. What you got for us? Well, I know I'm short on time, but it's probably good for others to not listen to me ramble a lot, so I'll get right into it. One of my favorite verses, one that kind of stood out for me was Romans eight twenty eight.
And I have to paraphrase and probably clean it up for me if I mess anything up. Again, one was eight twenty eight. Now we know that God works everything good to those that love him and to those who are called. And one of the reasons why it's so impactful for me is because I know in my situation that no matter if I fail, if I have a bad day, bad situations, and also good situations, no matter my talents or life thereof, I know that God's going to work everything out in my life and everybody else's life as well. That's beautiful, Jamal. And it's really cool to think that just as we have that verse and called according to his purpose, right, that as we have that coming alive in our life, that here are these wonderful people in the Middle East, or maybe they're down in Africa or where, you know, the different places Bible league is going to go. And just think how cool it is that someday, right, as we give, you know, five dollars here, ten dollars there, that they get to have those verses come alive for them. And because they're going to have bad days, too, Jamal.
I don't know what a bad day is defined in those areas. I'm afraid Michael might tell us. But I know, Michael, you agree, man, they need those verses, don't they? Well, you know, it's amazing, Jamal and Robbie, how they really take in the heart. I mean, I struggle with, in my own walk, you know, in a place where we have religious freedom. You know, as I watch believers like Aria and I see Matthew 5, where Jesus says, I tell you, love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you.

Well, as I said, for young Aria, it was simply, you know, that Jesus laid down his life for us, right? And she said in her scheme of religion, it was what?
Allah only demanded that Jesus lay down his life for her. And that really broke her, brought her to saving faith. And Robby, all the stories that we're sharing, you know, if you kind of pay attention to some of the details, it's the fact that God is doing amazing things among his family, where there isn't an abundance of Bibles. Think about when we can, you know, we can bathe those areas with the Word of God, where people actually have a Bible they can open every single day. Now, they hear preaching by godly pastors from week to week, but how much better? When you can open up your own Bible, I think about Christmas, what, seven weeks away, to be able to open up and read the precious Christmas story for yourselves. And Robby, we've seen that happen for 1,500 Bibleist believers to this point.
Our goal is 2,500. These are believers that we know by name who go without a Bible. So 1,000 left to go, a little less than that with Jamal's gift today. And Robby, I know you've given, I don't mean to single you out, but brother, thank you for your gift. And let me say thanks to Stephen, Truth Network listener. I know, and you know, I was hesitant to call in about it. And, you know, it really I look around my house and I got a Bible on my nightstand. I got a bite. My wife's got a Bible on her nightstand. We got two and two in the bathroom, one on a tee by the TV, one in the kitchen. I even have one in my work truck, which is called I forgot the nickname for my work truck. And and, you know, I'm going to give up instead of getting in a large coffee. I'm going to get a small coffee every day for the next two months so I can get fifty dollars, too. That's awesome. My wife said, you're welcome. And my wife said, you're really going to get a small coffee?
I don't think so. Yes, I know. You know, that's it's a type of small coffee fast is what that is, Mike. I know I couldn't give it up all the way. I mean, I'd give a small coffee. You know, the thing is, you're drinking that smaller coffee. You're just thinking, man, somebody somewhere has gotten their faith. Right.
And it does come by hearing and having been one that was literally my salvation came through a Bible. This is so critical for for all these folks. So, Mike, I am so grateful for your call, so grateful for your sacrifice. And you've got to keep me updated on this coffee fast, man. I had to figure out the numbers.
That's at least two months. All right. My wife is going to hold it to me. So I am, too. I am, too. So God bless you. Thank you, Mike, for calling in.

What else you got for us? Well, let me add to that to Jamal and Mike and others that said, you know what, we want to be a part of what God is doing around the world. Robby, as I said, God is at work in his world through his word. You know, I think of a scripture that comes to mind for second Corinthians nine. God will give you spiritual seed and make that seed grow. He will produce a great harvest from your goodness. What is your goodness today? You know, in the scheme of what Bible League and Truth Network have been doing for the last few weeks, your goodness today is really that five dollar gift. It's saying, you know what, I will sacrifice somewhere. Maybe it's coffee.
You know, I pray that Mike is especially patient with others as he drinks less coffee. But anyway, it's making a sacrifice somewhere on behalf of the church around the world. And, Robby, let me take you to India and tell you a story about a young lady by the name of Lolita. What's her story? Well, born in coastal India, raised a strict Hindu, was part of the lower social caste system. Her family really only knew extreme poverty. She was forced into an arranged marriage at 14 years of age to a man much older than her, a man that she didn't know, a man that she didn't love.
That happens a lot to a lot of young females in the country of India. And what happened was he died tragically in an accident because she was essentially part of the lower social caste. Robby, she was forced into human trafficking, prostitution by the drug cartel there in India.
Lived in really utter hopelessness for several years, just an absolute utter hopelessness. It wasn't until a Christian, a woman that was, again, rescued from the grips of human trafficking brought Lolita to a place of safety, introduced her to hope of the gospel. Robby gave her a Bible in the Tamil language. She read that every single day. She was trained to share Jesus, and she would go on to lead 98, almost 100, former radicalized Hindus to faith in Christ. All of that before she died tragically of HIV, AIDS, something that was inflicted upon her in those years of human trafficking.
But God chose to do something beautiful in the life of Lolita before he brought her home. And again, to think that there's at least 100 former Hindus, now followers of Christ, members of our spiritual family who have been praying for Bibles. And you know, that's what Bible league does around the world. We don't drill wells.
We don't provide shelter. All of those have their place. But as we provide the nourishment of the word of God to Christians around the world and listeners get a call by call, click by click, that's what you're doing today. We've seen about fifteen hundred answers to prayer. Our goal is two thousand five hundred. We've got to kind of trim that down a tad. We've got until Sunday, November 17th. So we're down to the final thing.

You know, God are the days where you'd print a Bible here in America, put it on a ship, pray that it gets through a port somewhere, half a world away within six months. You know, we print with we work with printers around the world where it's safe to do so. So I know that's a question we often hear is Bible league. How do you do it for five dollars a Bible, especially in an age of inflation? Well, we try to do it very economically. We put some common sense into this.
We pray the Lord's richest blessing upon it. And again, Robbie at five dollars a Bible. You can put the Bible into the hands and hearts of these waiting believers in India associated with the story of young Lalitha.
Again, you know, her story is so common among young people in India who desperately need hope. And again, call by call, click by click, Truth Network listeners, you're getting it done today. Yeah, it's it's it's a real opportunity. And, you know, again, I'm amazed at how God provides that. But he provided it for me.

Cast your cares on him for he cares for you. Is it the perennial John 3-16 that's blowing on banners in the end zones of football games this time of the year, huh? You know, for my family and me, about a year ago, Robbie, when my mom died, went to heaven, you know, it was John 14 where Jesus says, I go to prepare a place for you. Because my mom lived as a believer, you know, we have that promise, we'll see her again. And so, you know, to think of the believers that we're talking about on today's Truth Talk and the stories we've covered over the last few weeks together, the commonality is that the believers we're talking about have never opened the pages of Scripture and read for themselves a single verse because they do not own a Bible but enter the Truth Network listening family. Again, we want to take care of the final, I think it's about 960 at this point, 960 waiting believers to receive their own Bible. Let me tell you what, you know, some pastors and evangelists are willing to go through to see the word land in the hands and the hearts of these waiting believers. Let me tell you about Carlo in the Andes Mountains. Robbie, he's an itinerary pastor in the countries of Ecuador and Peru.
The man will travel days by foot, by mule, by canoe to reach the ancient Quechua-speaking believers in that part of the world. In the process of doing that, he has been beaten by warlocks. You know what a warlock is?
No. It's a male witch. I mean, a male witch, these people, they basically worship everything except the true and living God. They absolutely hate Christianity and anybody who, you know, espouses Christian beliefs, and so they have beaten this man. They've robbed him of everything in his possession, what little food, money, even the Bibles that he carries.
They've robbed him just to spite him in his efforts to reach these ancient Quechua-speakers. He's fallen about 100 feet in the Andes Mountains. Robbie, he does all of this while to glorify God, and he cares so deeply about those that have been placed in his care as an itinerary pastor.
At the end of those tracks, he'll find congregations of 50 people, 500, 300. And one of those, a little girl, 10 years of age, Lisbeth, Lisbeth is her name, lost her father about a year ago. He was ill.
He never overcame that illness, died. And, you know, her prayer today is not for pity, not asking for a money miracle. She simply wants a Bible so that her mother, a widow, and her three sisters, she's 10, I think the sisters are 4, 6, and 8, so stair-step kids. They simply want to read about the God who loves them. They're Christ's followers, Robbie.
They live in the Andes Mountains, deep in the heart of Peru, and the prayer, again, is simply for the Word of God. And, you know, really, Bible League, we come today not preaching ourselves, but Christ crucified, and simply trying to connect you to unmet Bible needs all over the world. We've spent the last hour where the Middle East, we've been to India, we're wrapping up here in the Andes Mountains, but Robbie, God's truly at work in his world. You know, Jesus said, if I be lifted up, I'll draw the nations to myself. And so, you know, take heart, again. Your answers, your prayers are being answered. The gospel is going forth, even to ancient Quechua speakers who live among warlocks who absolutely hate the gospel, but I can tell you it's going forth.
And there's simple prayers from people like 10-year-old Elizabeth for a Bible. And Robbie, call by call, click by click, Truth Network listeners, you're getting it done. Edward said, count me in. Barbara said, I want to be a part of this. Michael said, count me in. Earlier this hour, we heard from Jamal and Mike who said, you know, we're going to do a little sacrifice in their lives to be a part of this campaign. Robbie, you and your family have made a gift. We're so grateful for that. 1,500 answers to prayer. We've got 1,000 to go to reach this goal of 2,500. We have until Sunday, November 17th.
Still a little bit to go, but Robbie, if there's a group that can get it done, it is the Truth Network listening family. Right. And, you know, I was just thinking about the 10-year-old little girl. What was her name? Elizabeth.
Elizabeth. Like, how neat that really we could be part of whoever, you know, chooses to right now. You know, there they are up in the Andes Mountains, and, you know, in that hemisphere at Christmas time, it's probably not going to be snowing. But, you know, I just think about them reading the Christmas story like that family with the two little girls and the mom, and there they are.
They've lost their dad. But they have a pastor that's traveling all over the place to come, and he's connecting, you know, how God – it just amazes me. How God connects somebody like that to where I can hear about it or our listeners can hear about it, and then we can touch a life with something that each one of those young ladies will have a foundation for generations that they can pass on of faith.
Because as Jamal – no, as Mike mentioned, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, and it happened for me. And so I know that I've tasted and seen the Lord is good, and I know that those folks in the Andes, that just – it's the gift that keeps on giving, right, Mike? I mean, right, Michael?
Well, it is. And, you know, the stories that we've shared, again, not only today, but over the final, you know, the last few weeks, Robbie, you know, really it all started with the Bible. Just one Bible. Somebody able to share what's in that Bible.
And I like to say one gracious God who's willing to bring people from the grips of spiritual darkness. And again, we're simply connecting you to unmet Bible needs. It's been 50 here, it's 500 there, it's 300 there, but Robbie, again, with every call, with every click, we're seeing the Word of God landing in the hearts and the hands of these waiting believers.

I mean, how would he know what Abraham looked like? But he knew who he was.
And he knew who Lazarus was even on the other side of that abyss or whatever. And so the really cool thing is, my guess is, Mike, because we're going to know then and be fully known, as Paul said in Corinthians. And so we're going to see that Elizabeth or that other person and they go, Robbie, are they going to say, Mike, you gave up that coffee, man, you gave up that coffee, and here we are.
And man, I mean, you're not going to say, man, if I could have just had that other half a cup of coffee, it's not going to be like that. It's going to be a rejoicing thing.
