This is Rodney from the Masculine Journey Podcast, where we explored manhood within Jesus Christ. Your chosen Truth Network Podcast is starting in just a few seconds.

Sit back, enjoy it, share it. But most of all, thank you for listening and choosing the Truth Podcast Network. Welcome to Truth Talk Live! All right, let's talk. The truth is, I can't hide it, I can't hold it in no more. A daily program powered by the Truth Network.

This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you why. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. Well, welcome to Truth Talk Live! I'm Dwayne Carson, founder of Date the Word Ministries, and it is my joy to host Wednesday in the Word edition of Truth Talk Live. And we thank you for joining us today.

I've got a question, two of them coming at you right now. Who brought you to Jesus? And who are you bringing to Jesus? Who brought you to Jesus? And who are you bringing to Jesus? It could have been a person, it could have been a group that brought you. And maybe it'll take a group for you to bring someone else to Jesus. Today we, with the Wednesday in the Word edition, are looking at Mark 8 verses 22 through 30.

If you've got a chance to grab a Bible. I've got assisting me today in the studio of Jacob Avellino. Jacob is a student at Bob Jones University. He just finished his sophomore year and he's here with us today as he's looking forward in the fall for his junior year.

But today in the studio here to assist. And Jacob was with us this morning at Wednesday in the Word. He got to hear as I did Stu Epperson teach on this passage. And we're going to read Mark 8, 22 through 26. Jacob, would you be so kind to read the Scriptures, get our listeners now engaged as we get into the Word of God?

Of course, Dr. Carson. This is Mark 8, 22 through 26. God's Word says, Then he came to Bethsaida, and they brought a blind man to him and begged him to touch him. So he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when he had spit on his eyes and put his hands on him, he asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, I see men like trees walking. Then he put his hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.

Then he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town nor tell anyone in the town. Thank you, Jacob. Here we've got some people with no names. We've got a blind man.

I don't know who he is. We also have they. No names, but they.

But here's what we do have. We have the action that they took a man who could not see and brought him to Jesus so he could see. They brought him to Jesus. Now, to our listeners, Truth Talk Live is a live talk show. And you can call us at 1-866-348-7884.

That's 166-34-TRUTH and share with us who brought you to Jesus. And right off the bat, we've got Buxman. He's calling him from Ohio. Buxman, how are you? I am doing fantastic, Pastor Carson. How are you, brother?

Phenomenal. So who are you? The question is very multifaceted with me, brother. I've had everyone and I thought, well, I'm going to have to go back all the way to my earlys to go into succession. It was my grandparents. My grandfather took us to church when we were little.

Then there was the Christian school that my brothers and I and our baby sister attended for just a short while in our growth in our education. But then there was a coworker, Pastor Carson, and I have to shout him out. His name was Johnny. Johnny reached, he and his wife, Tracy, reached to me with Christ. But one of my fathers and mentors in the Lord Jesus Christ, Pastor Carson, was a dear man named Lowell Beam. Lowell Beam. And I count him as like a dad to me because he was the one, Pastor Carson, that literally opened up the Bible, read to me, asked me, do you understand what I'm teaching you right now?

That's the kind of man Lowell Beam was. And I just talked to that dear mentor and father of mine just this morning, brother. Then it was a couple pastor friends, actually a disciplinary measure that I went through, if you will, that really solidified me coming to Christ and walking, not just with Christ, brothers. And truth talk life, but walk as Christ.

Oh, that's good. Pastor Carson, walk as Christ. It's as if everybody that I named prior, Pastor Carson, was preparation for me for the final, which just happened recently. I want to say within the last 10 to 15 years, brother, did a situation happen where now I am walking as Christ, like Christ. I'm walking in righteousness. I'm wrestling my sin daily.

I am teaching the word. And then your second question, brother, was who are we out here in truth talk live land? Are we bringing Pastor?

I am glad to report to you, brother. I am bringing my neighbor, Nick, to Christ. I am bringing a young couple that lives in a town just down the road from where I live to Christ. I'm having hopefully dinner with a brother named Ron in an hour.

If he'll return my call and say, yeah, Boston, let's go get something to eat. Bringing him to Christ. Now, he's already to Christ, but I'm part of that recycling process that our Lord wants us to be a part of.

So I am so humbled to report to you, brother, and the truth talk live listeners that, yes, this is happening in your brother Boston's life. The people who brought me to Christ, who showed me how to walk as Christ. And now as I'm moving as Christ, I'm reading my, my neighbor, Nick, my, uh, my, my friend Ron.

This young couple, um, it's, it's amazing there. God has brought me even strangers saying, Boston, I want you to teach me who Jesus is in the scriptures. But it's been, thank you for this call. He who is wise wins souls. Hey, this is Truth Talk Live.

We'll be right back after a few announcements. Truth Talk Live. You're listening to the Truth Network and truthnetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live.

I'm Duane Carson, your host today, and today is May the 15th and May the 15th, 515. I just want to let you know it has a lot of great verses to consider, to ponder, like, uh, Amos 515, hate evil, love good, establish justice in the gates. It may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph, Amos 515. And then you got Ephesians 515, see then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. And then 1 Thessalonians 515, boy, this one's challenging. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good, both for yourself and for all.

These are coming from the Date the Word app. And I encourage you, if you don't have that downloaded, you can get a verse for every date. You got somebody you want to share a birthday verse with. Look up the date and find that verse, share it with them, it'll be a blessing to them.

And today, again, this is Truth Talk Live Wednesday in the Word edition, and we're talking about how a group of people, all we have is they. We have no names, but they brought a blind man to Jesus. Who brought you to Jesus?

Call us at 1-866-348-7884. Tell us about who was a spiritual family that helped you become part of the family of God. And we've got Jacob with us today. He's attending Bob Jones right now, studying for the ministry.

He's going to be preaching tomorrow at his Christian school. Jacob, who brought you to Jesus? I think, to answer that question, it would be easier to say who did not bring me to Jesus, because I was so blessed to grow up in a Christian family with Christian parents, Christian grandparents, Christian great-grandparents, and all of them were able to influence my life, to pour into me, to open God's Word, to show me through their conduct, but not only my physical family, but also I think back to my Sunday school teachers, my children's church teachers, all of those people who faithfully served the Lord and poured into my life.

And I even think of, I had the privilege of going to faith Christian school in Ramseur, North Carolina, and I had so many godly influences who opened the Word each day, whether in Bible class, in chapel, and because of the way that they lived, because of the truths that they took the time to share, I was able to come to the Lord. Now, when did you come to the Lord? I came to the Lord when I was about eight years old.

Eight years of age. Now, one of the great statements we make on Truth Talk Live is, God has no grandchildren. And what your testimony tells is that your parents and your grandparents understood Jacob has to make a personal decision to accept the Lord Jesus Christ himself. You can't go in on the shirttails of your parents or your grandparents, of friends, of pastors.

You have to make that personal decision. And so you have a spiritual family that pointed you to go to Jesus for salvation. What a great testimony. And tomorrow you're going to be preaching at your school that you graduated from. What passage are you coming from? So I will be coming from Philippians 3 verses 12 through 14.

Oh, what a great end of the year challenge that they would be determined and press on for the Lord Jesus. Well, we pray God will use you. I've got in the studio today also Jeff Chetwood. And Jeff, while we've been asking the question who brought you to Jesus, I want to change gears and ask the question, who are you bringing to Jesus? Because you're part of an incredible ministry. And Jeff, tell us about that incredible ministry and how you're bringing people to Jesus who've never even heard his name once. Welcome, Jeff.

It is a privilege for me to be here. And I am with the International Commission out of Louisville, Texas. And we have individuals from all over the nation, 50 or 60, and we work with 600 or 700 all around the world. But with our projects in which they are evangelistic, we may have 1.6 million people going to share the gospel. And when we go, we go to share the gospel with those that have been prayed for. Our ministry is based totally on prayer. Operation Andrew, you pray for the lost, you pray for six months, and then we go and we share the gospel with them.

It's not door to door. It is sharing the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit is the one who draws, convicts of sin and saves. Our goal is to follow what Jesus said in the Great Commission. He said, All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them what I have taught you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. That's in Matthew.

But the Great Commission is also in Mark and Luke and John. As the Father has sent me, I am sending you in the book of Acts. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses first in Jerusalem, then Judea, then Samaria, and then to the ends of the earth. And in this case, your first location is your family, probably, here in your city, and people in your city, people you come in contact with with work, in school, at the gym, different ones that you just meet at the grocery store. But then it expands to your state. It expands to your nation, and it expands to the ends of the earth.

Ends of the earth. Oh yeah, and so that is what we do. We're a different kind of organization. We go and we share the gospel, and we are attempting to share the gospel in every nation on the planet. Two hundred and nine nations, plus seven territories, two hundred and sixteen, and we have been in a hundred and ninety-two of those nations. A hundred and ninety-two.

Sharing the gospel. And this year we are in a hundred and forty-six of those countries with international projects and national to national projects, and we hope to be in every one every year. And so it's an amazing thing, and we just received the numbers from last year, the total from around the world, even though I work in Asia, nineteen countries in the ten-forty window, but these numbers are from all over the world. We had four million, seven hundred, and ten thousand, three hundred pray to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord of their life. Now wait a minute, wait a minute.

You just said four million, not four hundred, four million, almost five million people last year. God is at work around the world through international commission. Oh my, this is awesome, Jeff. That is all God. I have saved not one, but we see the Holy Spirit draw, convict of sin, and save that many. We have shared with six million, eight hundred and eighty-one thousand people. The seeds have been sown.

And as a result, twenty-three thousand plus new churches have been set up by the Lord, and next year there'll be even more. Jeff, hang on. We're going to take a quick break. We're going to come back. You've got some things happening tomorrow that we need people to know about.

Oh yes. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Well, welcome back to Truth Talk Live. We are here in the studio in Winston-Salem, and we're talking with Jacob and with Jeff about bringing people to Jesus because we looked at a verse in Mark chapter eight, verse twenty-two, and it said that they brought a blind man to Jesus. Are you a bringer? Are you bringing people to Jesus?

What a challenge. And we're hearing from Jeff about International Commission, how this ministry out of Texas is taking the gospel to a hundred and forty-six nations this year, but to every nation. There's two hundred and nine, but we're talking about a hundred and ninety-two. A hundred and ninety-two you've been in, and now you're seeing just not hundreds, not thousands, but millions get saved every year. And Jeff, I want you to tell our listeners how they could support this ministry because what you guys are doing does need financial support, and let me just pitch that to you.

If I wanted to support you, how might I go about doing it? Well, the way you could do it is to go on internationalcommission.org and click on give, and it'll take you to how you can give by a credit card or a debit card, or you can send in a check. And it goes to these national to national projects. We have four hundred and sixty-seven national projects in countries all over the world, and the nationals go do it without Americans. We've got another twenty projects where Americans go and they teach the nationals how to do it, but the nationals are the ones who will evangelize their nation and the neighboring nations.

It is just like unbelievable what's happening. We go to the ends of the earth, but then they go to their Jerusalem. That's correct, and they use a technique called Operation Andrew, which we were granted permission by the Billy Graham Association in 1973 to use, and they go and they pray for the lost. Each individual in a church would pray for ten for six months, and at the end of the six months they would have the gospel shared with them, and many would pray to receive Jesus.

And when they receive Jesus, they're a babe in Christ, and for the next five months they would be brought into the church, where a new church is planted, and you don't leave a baby in the desert. This is a tremendous strategy, so biblical, and as you partner with them, I'm a firm believer in this, Paul talked about this in Philippians, that we become partners who get the rewards, and I'm talking to some listeners out there that you're looking for heavenly investments. I believe it was the Blackaby that said, find out where God is working and join him. Well, International Commission is where God is working.

We're hearing this from Jeff. He knows firsthand, because you don't just organize this, you go yourself. You witness to people that just might turn around and try to kill you.

Is that not right? My wife and I three weeks ago came back from Malaysia, and the Iban tribe, the headhunters of another generation, we've been to the jungles of Malaysia and the children of Al-Qaeda. We shared the gospel with them.

We shared the gospel with the former Khmer Rouge on the border of Thailand and Cambodia, who killed three million of the eight million, and now they have come to Jesus, and now they're pastors, and they want to share with all their people Jesus. It's the most amazing thing. It is the Holy Spirit moving. God changes hearts. This is incredible.

I love this. Listeners, how are you doing in bringing people to Jesus? What are you doing to bring people to Jesus? When we look at our passage today, and we've got much to still cover, but that first verse just grabbed me that it didn't just say that they brought him to Jesus. It said they begged Jesus. So you've got men who are bringers, and you've got beggars, and the idea here of begging is that they were pleading with Jesus.

They were praying, and you mentioned that. Operation Andrew, praying, and listeners, hear me. In witnessing to whether it's a family or friend, neighbor, associate, or someone halfway around the world, start praying for them. Today, for me, is the significant day, May the 15th, 2007, Dr. Jerry Falwell, the founder of Liberty University, he was the founder of Thomas Rowe Baptist Church. He graduated to heaven, and on May 15th, I always take time to remember valuable lessons that I got from Dr. Falwell. I got to work with him there at Liberty, and one of the things he had was, he wrote down at the beginning of every year his most wanted list, his top ten, and he'd write down names of people that he wanted to see saved, and he started praying for them, and Romans 10.1 says, Brother, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.

Well, take out the word Israel and put in that name of the family member. Jacob, maybe they didn't do it exactly like I'm saying, but I got to believe your grandparents, your parents, put your name in a prayer. Lord, save Jacob. Take Romans 10.1 and come up with ten names of someone you want to see saved, that you're desperate to see them be saved, and then the power of prayer goes to work.

God is going to draw them. He's going to hear your prayers, and he's going to go to work, and he's going to send someone to witness to them, and you know who may be that person, Jeff? It just might be you, because as your heart begins to break in prayer, begging God to save them, God will say, I want you to go.

Now, I've done this on Truth Talk Live before. One of the most important things to pray is that God will open their eyes to the glorious gospel. That's 2 Corinthians 4.4, because, Jeff, you're working with people who've never even heard the name Jesus, but the prayer that is going before is helping them like Lydia. Her heart was opened. The Roman soldier that Paul is talking to there in Philippi, his eyes are opened. They're able to see all of a sudden the glorious gospel. I was 20 years of age, had a 12-year-old girl inviting me to come to church, and at that point my eyes were closed. I said to her, church doesn't want to have anything to do with Duane Carson, and I don't believe God wants to have anything to do with me, but here's what happened. God began to open my eyes because a 12-year-old said to me, all I can tell you, Duane, is God loves you and I love you, and I'd wish you'd come back to church. And that was how I got brought to church, started me on a spiritual journey.

It doesn't matter what age you are. You might be listening right now, and you're in the fifth grade wondering, can I make a difference? Well, a fifth grader made a difference in a 20-year-old because she was bold enough to ask me, to invite me to come back to church. These guys here in Mark 8 were bold. I don't know what their names are, but I have to wonder. I have to wonder, like the guys in Matthew 2, maybe one of them's name was Harry Hope. He just said, I've got to believe if we can get him to Jesus, his life will never be the same. And then there was Larry Love.

He just looked at that guy blind and said, he says, I love him so much, I don't want him to continue the way he is. And then there was Freddie Faith. Freddie said, Jesus can make a difference.

I believe Jesus can change his life. And then there was Daniel Determination. We've got to stop talking. We've got to pick him up.

We've got to get him over there. And these guys brought a blind man to Jesus so he could see. Well, we've got blind people all around us.

It's called spiritual blindness. And if we'll just have that kind of faith and that love and that hope and determination, we could see family members and friends and neighbors and associates and people at the ends of the earth come to know the Lord. Now, Jeff, we're going to be headed to break, but one more time, tell folks how they can be investing in eternity. This is not just the evangelism of Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, but this is to the ends of the earth. We are also going in North America, so we are going all over the world. This is world evangelism that you're supporting, and you're supporting those that are out there doing it.

And it's call in or write, look on the internet, internationalcommission.org, and then click on Give. And it all happens. And this would… To be a part of millions of people coming to know the Lord. Think about it. One day, you're in heaven, and millions come up to you and say, thank you, thank you, thank you. Friends, go to internationalcommission.org and support. The Holy Spirit is the only one who saves.

We have saved not one. And we give Him all the glory for what has taken place. It is beyond my comprehension.

It is of the Lord. Wow. This is Truth Talk Live. We'll be right back. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. Thank you for listening today. This is Duane Carson with Date the Word Ministries.

I'm your host. I've got Jacob with me. We had Jeff.

He had to head out, get ready for some things that are going on with the International Commission. But I hope you'll take a look at their website, and what a great ministry to support as they're taking the gospel to the ends of the earth. We're looking at Mark chapter 8 today, and we're asking the question on verse 22 where they brought a blind man to Jesus. Who brought you to Jesus? And we've got Mike from Dayton, Ohio. Mike, welcome to Truth Talk Live.

What do you have for us? You asked who brought, well, it would be my family to Jesus, a mailman. He was a local mailman, and he came around every day, and he talked to everyone all the time about Jesus. And he drove a bus around our neighborhood to take him to Sunday school, and he stopped by houses and knocked on doors and said, do you want to come to Sunday school? And that's how we come to Jesus, by a local mailman coming around, delivering mail, and talking about Jesus, and saying that I go to a church around the corner, and I drive the bus. And this guy also, I mean, he fixed bicycles, and he was the neighborhood bicycle fixer, and all the kids in the neighborhood would come around and say, my bicycle doesn't work.

I've got a flat tire. And he would fix bicycles, and he would invite them to come to Sunday school and invite them to come to church. And parents around the neighborhood would come to church because of this man who was bold enough, and I like that word that you were saying, sir, bold. Boldness is what it is, and I wonder why Christians are not bold, and they're worried about being offended, and they're worried about being persecuted, and they're worried about being not liked, and not being accepted. And Christians seem to be more bold and understand that this is the commission of God.

These people are not going to go to heaven unless you tell them about Christ. I hear a brokenness in your heart as you say that. Yeah, I'm sorry, but I understand this, and it's hard to be bold, because the devil tells you, don't say nothing, don't do this, don't do that. The devil's telling you the wrong thing. You need to listen to God, and God says, when God tells you to do something, do it.

You know what I mean? That 12-year-old girl for me, to this day, I stand amazed at how when I told her that I did not believe church wanted to have anything to do with me, I didn't think God wanted to have anything to do with me. I was rejecting her. She didn't let that bother her.

She just stayed firm. She was bold. And bold, and said, I want you to know God loves you, and I love you. Love wins the day.

And, Mike, thank you for this call, because... Go ahead. Understand that these people need love, and need God, and we need to understand it. You know, I understand it. It's not easy, though, as a Christian. We've got too many distractions. We need to get in the Word, we need to pray, we need to listen.

Mark 822, it tells you everything that you need to get into. You know what I mean? You need to get into prayer, you need to be bold, you need to seek Jesus. You know, all these things are full circle for a Christian life, so they can be a witness and be bold to be able to witness to people around you. You know what I mean? Yes, sir. A mailman brought me to Christ.

You know what I mean? And he used his gifts and talents, I love this, not just spiritual gifts, but his talents to fix bicycles and use that as a way to be a witness. One of my deals is, I call it WWW, Witnessing While Working, and just find that way to shine for Jesus.

Well, hey, Mike, thank you for calling. I pray, God, I use you to be a bold witness for him. Thank you for your challenge. Pray for me, sir.

It's that easy. Yes, sir. Thank you. We've got Jamal. Jamal, how are you today? I'm doing fine, Brother Carson, or I guess I should say Pastor Carson. Thanks for asking. Hope you all are doing fine at the radio station. We're having a great time talking about bringing people to Jesus.

Good deal, good deal. I just wanted to ask, what's the young man's name with you? Jacob.

Jacob. I just wanted to ask you, Jacob, we met briefly. I just said, God bless you, as I was walking out the door from Wednesday in the Word this morning. So I just wanted to call back and say, how could we, the listening audience and anybody else, how could we pray for you, sir? Well, as I'm ministering in Chicago this summer at Pacific Garden Mission, I would say the main way that you could pray for me as a minister is just that I will see these people with Christ's eyes. Because we know in our flesh we see people not with Christ's eyes, but Christ, we see, went to the broken parted. He went to those who were in need of ministry, and he ministered to them. So pray that I will be able to see these people with the eyes of Jesus.

Amen to that. And I also want to pray that there are other Jacobs, just like you, Jacob, out there that's willing to take up the mental, willing to take up the cause, young and old and in between all backgrounds, that many people are willing to take up the cause and fight on behalf of Jesus Christ and his people. And I have to tell you, Jamal, I've been so encouraged just being this day with Jacob a few times. And here we've got a 20-year-old who's got a heart for the Lord and a heart for souls. And listeners, please, be praying for Jacob.

He's going to Chicago this summer to the Pacific Garden. That's a rescue mission. And I love how he asked for prayer that he would see people the way Jesus sees them. And the church I was in Sunday, the pastor said those very words as one of his points. If we want to be a witness for the Lord, we need to start seeing people the way Jesus sees them.

They're either lost and needing a shepherd, needing to be saved, or they're already saved, but now they need to be growing and move from being one that's brought to Jesus to bringing people to Jesus. But, Jamal, thank you for the call. Thank you. God bless. Now, Jacob, as we've been looking at Scripture today, we're looking at Mark 8, and it goes from 22 to 30. And we want to touch base real quickly on this verses 27 through 30, because there is the big, big, big question that we want to answer before we wrap up Truth Talk Live today. Would you read for us Mark 8, 27 through 30?

Of course. Wow, here we've got two questions. As Jesus is now back to discipling his disciples, he's taking care of the prayer request of they, and he's healed a blind man, and now back to discipling his disciples, he said, all right, guys, let's get down to the brass tacks here where the rubber meets the road. Who are people saying that I am? Okay, we've got some answers, maybe John the Baptist, maybe one of the prophets, but then he asks the pointed question, and it is a question every one of us has got to answer.

Who do you say that I am? And Jacob Peter said, you're the Christ. That word Christ, it means? It means the Messiah. The Messiah, that's who they were looking for. He's going to be the one that's going to bring redemption. He's the one that's going to bring salvation. Now, I don't know if he was the first one to say it or not, but I know C.S. Lewis is known for making a statement, when you consider who Jesus is, Jesus is either a liar or a lunatic, or he is Lord.

And folks, you've got to make a decision. Is Jesus a liar? Why would a liar go to the cross and die the cruel death that he died if he was telling a lie? He told the truth, he is the Son of God. Is he a lunatic? Well, who's ever going to follow a lunatic? There are people that followed him and they knew this man was in his right mind.

He was the only one truly in his right mind. So he is Lord, but you've got to decide. And some people have this idea, I can be neutral with Jesus. Jacob, you can't be neutral with Jesus. He said, I am the way, the truth, and life. No man comes to the Father except through me. And folks, if you say, I don't want to trust Jesus, I don't want to believe in him, then Jesus makes a decision about you.

And eternity hangs in the ballots. As we look at these scriptures today, if you will for a moment, I'm seeking to bring you to Jesus. If you don't know the Lord Jesus, I'm saying to you today, today is the day of salvation. He went to a cross for you. He died on that cross for you. He was buried, he rose again. And today you can have the gift of eternal life if you'll call on him for salvation. This is Truth Talk Life. Thank you for being with us. We pray the Lord will bless the rest of your day. Go and tell someone about Jesus.
