How Do You Bring Your Tithe of Media Into the Storehouse?

This is kind of a great thing and I'll tell you why. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. It is media missions Monday today, just to throw a little bit of a twist in on you there. Media missions Monday.

So you may say, Robbie, what does that mean? Well, here's your question. How do you bring your tithe of media, right? I don't know if you thought about your tithe of media, but that's what we're going to talk about here.

Just stick with me. How do you bring your tithe of media into the storehouse? So you might remember Malachi 3-10, after, you know, he talks about you can't rob God, and that's Malachi 3-8. But in Malachi 3-10, it says, bring all the tithes into where? Into the storehouse. That there may be food in my house.

And try me now in this, right? And so with that idea, you know, since there's tithes of everything, how do you tithe your media? And specifically, where's the storehouse? So, I don't know if you've given that a lot of thought, but anyway, yesterday, God, when I was preparing to do his sermon at West Ashboro Baptist Church, where I have the honor to preach Sunday, and I was asking God, and God told me in this, as I was preparing for this sermon, he said, open the storehouse. He said, that's why, and he started to show me this treasure, as he was just opening the storehouse, and I said, this treasure, as he was just opening it up, and then this is what he wanted me to talk about, and so I knew what he meant, because there's a couple different illustrations of storehouses, and in the Lord's Prayer, which is taught in a couple different places, you might be familiar where it says, go into your closet and shut the door. Well, that word closet could also be translated, in fact, better translated to my opinion, storehouse, because if you back it in to Hebrew, it would be storehouse, and it's the same word that's used here in Malachi, and so with that in mind, so how do you go into a storehouse, and what is that storehouse? And my idea on that was originally, like, if I got to go into my storehouse to pray, I don't want to be like Clark Kent, I see a kid gets hit going across the street, and I don't have to look for a phone booth, right?

Grayson, you don't want to go into your closet. No, you need something that's more portable, and then I began to remember that Mary stored up all these things and treasured them in her heart, and so I started to go, oh, wait a minute, the storehouse is your heart, and so the more I researched that, the more I saw that that was the case, that when you go into your closet, actually, as you go into your heart, because that's where you meet with God, that's where he is, and so when you take this on a spiritual level, the Malachi 3-10, so you're going to take your tithes, you're going to take that stuff into the storehouse. Well, you know, being that I'm in media, I did a little math before I did my sermon yesterday, and I came to the conclusion with the advertisers of the World's Alliance that they do all this research, and Nielsen and these people have decided that the average American consumes 13 and a half hours of media every single day, and so that's essentially, you know, 815 minutes, and so if you take that, a tithe of that would be 81.5 minutes, or essentially an hour and a half a day. So I hope you're following me on this, so if I'm going to take 10% of all the media that I consume in my heart, I want to give that to God, those of you who are listening to The Truth Network, I'm thinking that's a pretty good idea, right? I'm thinking they're going to find a way, then I'm going to make 10% of that work. Well, now listen to the rest of this verse in Malachi, if you look at it from that perspective, that if I'm going to bring 10% of the media, in other words, 10% or an hour or 20 minutes of Bible reading, or listening to somebody teaching the Bible, or doing something where I'm giving the Word of God into my heart, well guess what?

Then there's going to be food in my house, because that's what it says, that there may be food in my house, right? You know that people are starving to death, and you know the idea of feeding my sheep. Well, you've got to bring your tithe into the storehouse, and so with that idea, how do you, this is a question, I'm getting back to the question that I want you to call in and share, 866-348-7884, how do you get your 10% of your media intake, how do you do that, how do you do that with your particular storehouse that you might be fed? And that's not something you just do Sunday morning, obviously, those of you listening to The Truth Network, you're doing it hopefully every single day, and how do you go about doing that, and why do you think it's so important we do that first thing in the morning?

And so if you think about, if you're consuming all this other media, that each, you may have heard this said, I think it's beautiful, that each tiny seed contains a forest, right?

Because that one seed will grow, you know, say one pine tree, and that pine tree has, you know, 7,000 pine cones on it, and each of those 7,000 pine cones have, you know, hundreds of thousands of seeds, in other words, a forest inside of every single seed. Well, so is the case with all the seeds of God's Word that you plant in your heart, or if you're consuming other media, or other music, or whatever other else things you're consuming, your poor storehouse is gonna be dry as a bone, just saying. So I'm really, really, I think it's amazing to consider, how do you personally make sure that you get your tithes of media input into your heart, into your storehouse, that he might open the windows of heaven and pour out such a blessing that there be no room to receive it? 866, the number to call in and share, 866-348-7884, 866-34 Truth, and we got Buskman? How do you bring your tithe of media into the storehouse? Have I still got Busman with me? It looks like he's there.

Yeah, you're still with me. So here's my question, Busman, to you. So, according to this passage in Malachi, which you're probably pretty familiar with, God says he's going to open up his blessings of heaven, his windows, and pour out such a blessing that there's not enough room to receive it. So you personally—now, I'm not talking about what you're telling everybody else to do, but you personally, what would you say that blessing has looked like?

Can you give me a story, you know, put some flesh on that, a story where that's happened in your life? I sure can, Robbie. This is awesome. So a couple weeks ago, brother, I really believe—and it was confirmed by witnesses—Busman, you need to do a podcast. I want you to speak the truth, I want you to speak the truth, and let it only be true. So my podcast started a couple weeks ago, literally, Robbie, and the tagline is, The Truth Will Prevail.

And this is what I love about The Truth Network, is you guys speak the truth, you do your fact checking, you do your journalism, and you report only what is true, not what is false. And I think today's society, especially here in the United States and in our culture, people are so hungry for actual truth, not truth that's been turned or twisted or distorted that we get fed. And I keep thinking, wow, Lord, that is so true about our spiritual food. Teach me the Word of God, Pastor, and I will be completely full. And I have decided that that's where I'm going. I'm going to find a Bible teaching church to fill Busman's heart, rather than just a Bible believing church, because a Bible believing church should, or a Bible teaching church, rather, should already believe it. But Robbie, I'm finding out that it's not being taught anymore, brother. So I love the name of your podcast.

Sure, it's called The Busman Report. But you said the truth shall prevail, so you might know Psalm 119 verse 160. It's talking about the race, the last verse in the race section. And what it says, I think, is remarkable. It says, Thy word is true from the beginning, and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever. Forever, brother.

Forever. So the thing of it is, if it's the truth, it never crumbles. But lies always crumble. If it's built on the foundation, it will stand.

If it's built on lies, it may take 50 years or whatever it may take, but it will crumble. And so God, you know, as you got a chance to share the truth and talk through the truth, now he's giving you this podcast, and it helps keep the truth on your mind, right? Which makes your whole life just seem to make more sense. You nailed it, brother. And just like our pastor brothers, when you are endowed by God, and we know this from our brother James, the book of James, Pastor James, I like to call him Robbie, we are not to take that office lightly. We have to be extremely sober-minded, because when we speak on behalf of the Holy One of Israel, it better be right. It better be what he said, and nothing more, and nothing less. So it has really honed me, Robbie, to say, Buskman, is this truly what God says, or are you adding or subtracting from what God says?

Because it will benefit you if you do either of those two things. And I'll tell you, Robbie, it's really, it's really sharpened me. It's really sobered me, is probably the best word I can give you, brother. It has really sobered me on my life, my lifestyle, what people see when they're around me in person, what I speak, and how I hear. So all of that has really been, I have really been going through a refining process by our Heavenly Father.

Because you took your tithe of media and brought it into your storehouse. In other words, you were bringing in the truth, and God gave you something that just totally blows your mind.

She said, you know, by mid-afternoon, a lot of the edges come off of it. It's a lot easier to get you aggravated and all that kind of stuff. And it's fascinating, right? You know, I hope you've had that experience, that, you know, the closer you get to God. Because to me, you know—and I love what they said about Eugene Peterson, that he had a conversational intimacy with the Scriptures.

Of course, we'd love to have a conversational intimacy. The Scriptures are relational, what that points to. And so, as you go into those passages that, you know, like, hello, Genesis 3, my old friend. Or, you know, hello, John 3, 16, my old friend. Whatever it may be that you've studied and you've talked about, you've talked with God many, many, many, many times. And as you get a chance to have that experience and grow and grow closer with Him, you know, your life just makes all sorts of more sense.

Yeah, well that didn't really, we tried that. We put a lot of money and effort and heart and soul into that, but it was really hard for people to go online and do it. A lot of people aren't ready to share their testimony publicly. So we learned that handing out a card, just a simple card is way easier, and people are willing to do that first, and hopefully later that'll throw them into being ready to share their testimony online. You would think that a lot of people would be, yeah. So what is the, you said there's video testimonies, video stories at the website?

What is that then? So what happens when an unbeliever goes to the website? There's Ken Ham, Josh McDowell, Danny Aiken, Jonathan Falwell, many others are on this website answering life's hard questions, like was there a global flood?

Is there a God? And there's tons of other professors from conservative evangelical schools, but there's also worldview videos that are waiting for the person that's not a Christian to go to, so they can actually collect the worldview that they are. So say they're a Mormon, well they learn at the end that the people talking to them are former Mormons after this information is shared, and that the information that was shared is what actually personally converted them. We have to take what's happening in this country very seriously, it's a moral collapse because we haven't been sharing our faith. Wow. Right, and I would say, well, there's video answers there that work with your head to get to your heart. Has anybody actually ever said that? Oh, I say that all the time to people, and that's when I'm handing out the cards, I would normally say, hey, may never see you again, so I wanted to give you this, it's a website that proves Jesus loves you, and it's that website works with your head to get to your heart, and especially when you're at UVA, giving it to like top medical doctors and other professionals there that I was able to today, they would take it, they appreciate the, I mean, we don't have a blind faith, we have a reasonable faith, and this card brings them to that reasonable faith in a massive way with Jonathan Falwell answering life's hard questions, Ken Ham answering life's hard questions, Josh McDowell, like all for free, so they just scan this QR code, or they type it in, and they're given access to information that conforms to their worldview, and then they can find a local church, so if your local church isn't listed on truelife.org, they need to be, because this movement is growing across this country, thanks to the Truth Network, and we are seeing souls get saved left and right, and people take their mission that God gave them seriously, I like to say the greatest command should be our, the last command should be our first priority, and we have to be out there trusting that God has the best plan for us, and that is evangelism, and I like to say, you can't wear the whole armor of God if you're not sharing your faith, think about the gospel of peace, that's your feet. So again, just for a second, Jesse, just to get back to my question, and just think about what I'm saying, and I'm saying, has anybody ever looked at you, you just handed it to them, and you said this proves Jesus loves you, have they, the question is, has anybody turned to you and said, Jesse, how does it prove that?

Right, and I would say it has video, not that you would say, I don't, what I'm asking is, did anybody say that to you? You handed it to them, you said, because you know, I'm just picturing the scene, and here you just handed this doctor this card, did anybody you ever hand the card to look at you and go, Jesse, how does this prove Jesus loves me? Robbie, I've done this like, I guess, I don't know, a thousand times, more than that, probably five thousand times, and one of the ones that we get more often than that, I don't think I've ever had that, but I've had, I already know that Jesus loves me, and that's when I flip over the card and say, oh great, you can order yours too, for free, and then they hopefully will, so that's the beauty of what we're doing, is we're capitalizing on that momentum. So I might, again, just to go back to the question, which I see you answered this time, but I, so what you're saying is, you've never had anybody answer the question that way? Well, we haven't, and I, okay, okay, just hang on for a second, before you go on, just be, Jesse, be patient with me, please, because I just don't, I apparently don't move at the speed that you do, so, if I were to ask, you know, my question to you then is, I'm kind of wondering, if nobody's ever said, Jesse, how does this prove Jesus loves me, then I'm guessing they didn't hear you say that. Well, because if you, because I, really? Because if you, if you went up to the average person and said, here, I'm going to hand this to you, and it proves Jesus loves me, does it seem reasonable that that proves you just loves you?

It proves you just loves you, and on the card itself, when they're looking at it, it says for hope, peace, and unconditional love, and then it has the QR code next to it, and they can scan that. Right, Jesse, Jesse, I understand what's on the card, I don't think you're understanding what I'm trying to communicate, is, I think what I'm trying to communicate is, sometimes, you know, we, we have something where we don't slow down and listen to what the people are actually saying to us, or what's in their eyes, because honestly, I've asked you the same question, like, seven times the last ten minutes, and you, you've yet to, to really convince me that you are hearing what I am saying. Does that make sense? Well, I'm actually trying to understand your question more, so if you can elaborate a little more, that'll be great.

Okay. My question is, do you think, let me put it to you this way, do you think it would help, if you tried to give the people a chance to actually engage with what you're saying, rather than trying to move them through a process? So, we do that as well. I haven't had a direct question like that, but I have had people that say, well, how, how do I know that that's true? That's rare, though, a lot of times what happens is, they would say something like, well, I really appreciate it, where are you from? And I would say back to them, well, I'm from Virginia, you know, I'm traveling here in Tennessee today, and they're like, what brings you over here? So that's how the conversation can happen. I'm sure people that have handed out cards have had that experience before where someone says that to them, but what we want to do is we want to take care of the, the short-term and long-term interactions that we have. A lot of times we don't have time to have a long conversation with people, and that's at the gas station pump, that's at the grocery store, it's that you can still take that one moment that you do have and make it effective by saying, I may never see you again, so I wanted to give this to you, it's a website that proves Jesus loves you, and that one exchange... And Jesse, Jesse, Jesse, Jesse, Jesse, Jesse, I sold cars for 40 years and taught thousands of car salesmen.

I told them all the same thing, and I hope this helps you, I just hope you can hear it. I used to say to him, you know, he who talks the most ends up with a product. Are you following me? In other words, I've sold a whole lot more cars by listening, I've shared my faith a whole lot more by listening than I did by talking. Because I was slowed down to willing to see what people said, but my fear in the way that you're presenting it to me, and I don't, because I've never seen you present it, but the way you presented it on the air to me a few times is you're moving through it at a thousand miles an hour, and again, people want to know how much you care before they care before they care how much you know, right? Well, they care a whole lot when you know that you gave them a car that says, for hope, peace, and unconditional love on it. That's, that's sure, Jesse, you... How many times do you think that they said no?

That beats... If you think that it's not effective, what do you think... Then I know, I think it's absolutely effective, Jesse, and I think it's absolutely a great thing that you're doing, and it beats nothing, okay? However, my suggestion again, just to go back to, if I was training you as a car salesman, or since I'm not training you as a car salesman, but if I were to have that attempt to say to anybody who was out there sharing their faith, is that the person who talks the most will end up with a product, and if the product is Jesus, I just think that part of any relationship requires a two-way communication. If I'm the one doing all the talking, then I never had a chance to hear what their question was. Well, I told you, if we had time to talk with them, we'd make the time to talk with them, and we want to hear about them, and want to love on them, and meet with them, where Christ, you know, is giving us the time to do that, but there's many times when you're at the gas station pump that you can just quickly hand this car to somebody and say, I may never see you again, so I want to give this to you. It's a website that proves you, it loves you, and they take that, and they put it in their pocket, and they drive off, and we don't want to miss out on using technology, this one click generation, and this is a quick tool.

I never would have said anything to them if I was using a slower format for that. Now, when you're sitting down in a waiting room, or on an airplane, you know, that's totally different, but we're trying to look at all situations with an open mind, and saying, what is the best that I can do in this situation, and maybe it is just a short handoff like that, or maybe it's a longer conversation. Everything is on the game field, it's just making things in God's eyes, looking through his lenses, and saying, hey, I have someone pumping gas across from me right now, what can I do to help them? And saying, I may never see you again, so I want to give this to you, it's a website that proves you, it loves you.
