This is the Truth Network. Yeah. Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk the truth then. I can't hide it.
I can hold it in the book. A daily program powered by the Truth Network. This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak.
And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host.
So in light of the Experience that I've had many times: that where I found God yesterday in prayer is not necessarily where I found Him. Today When have you personally had a Breakthrough in prayer. We would love to hear, like, man. I had this breakthrough. 866-348-7884.
It's a live show. We need you. What testimonies we could hear today of experiences in prayer? 866-348-7884. As it is 929 or September 29th, which means our first for today with Dr.
Doc, date the word Carson, is Mark 929.
So he said to them. This kind only comes out with prayer and fasting. Right? Disciples had relaid on just prayer alone, but now Stakes. were changed and they had to have another breakthrough.
And so fortunately, Doc, Jesus didn't keep it a secret. Yes. When asked what was his secret, he didn't keep it a secret. He told them. And lets us know The secret The doing ministry as we are in spiritual battles.
Every day, there are spiritual battles as we're working with God's people. Uh the secret is uh Prayer and fasting. Which really relies makes a huge statement of a dependence on God. And prayer and fasting, I'm saying, God, I can't, I can't, I can't, I need you, I need you, I need you. And then God does the miracle.
Amen. Amen. And so these lead to breakthroughs. And one of the most amazing ones is you talked about. Before we did the show, Doc, is you are in Pennsylvania, not far from a real breakthrough that Abraham Lincoln had in prayer.
Yes. About thirty minutes away from the battlefield of Gettysburg, where one of the greatest battles of the Civil War, if not the greatest, took place. Uh and and the history books tell of Abraham Lincoln during the days of July the first, second, third, when the battles were being fought there, He was Fervently Praying. He told a general that he had been praying Colossians. Four, twelve.
which is Paul telling about how Epaphroditus Labored. Fervently in prayer, or one of the ways to translate that. Uh He l he wrestled in prayer. And what a picture there of God. We got to have you got a.
If you don't come through, we're through. And he tells how as he prayed. there came a sense of comfort into his soul. that God was going to stand by The union and Abraham Lincoln even said, If you stand by them, I'm going to stand by you. And he's just relying on God.
And then the battle was won there at Gettysburg, that became the turning point for the Civil War. Right, when you think about it, it you know, it's so amazing to me. One man, just one man's prayer. Right. Uh uh a moment of our country's history that was so critical, but it changed the life of everyone.
And, you know, we have the same access, we have the same God. Um, At all times You know, when we are in the battles. Like man, so Uh you know, when have you had that kind of breakthrough to where you know God just Man, you all of a sudden felt this peace that transcended all understanding, like what was just described by Abraham Lincoln, where you were. Totally. thinking it was the end.
And then all of a sudden this piece just came over to you like he's got this. 8663487884. 8663487884. When have you had that kind of breakthrough? Doc, there could be somebody out there.
Mm. you know, their son got off drugs or who what do you think? Yeah. Well For these breakthroughs, they're going to be the strongholds. And uh Through our years of ministry, we've dealt with families where there was abuse and where there was Drug addiction, uh gambling addiction, p uh pornography addiction.
And uh to get these addictions broken, uh they're they're there's Scriptures you've got to learn, but there's also these prayers, and you begin to pray, God, only you can break. That which is so strong and um. I gotta believe we got some listeners right now that could share some stories. Of how God came through. I can tell you right now of.
Seeing uh people through the years Who struggle with some kind of addiction that with just fervent prayer, wrestling with God, not them per se doing it, but their family members, their friends. God, I want to see this person saved. I want to see this person delivered from this bondage. And then, all of a sudden, just like this man in this story, Mark chapter 9, he was so broken over his son's condition, begging the disciples. And when they couldn't do it, he went to Jesus and he just, Lord, I need you.
To get this demon out of my boy. And he just pleaded with God. And then it said that Jesus. uh called that demon out. And this man felt that his son is totally different now.
How is that? We it happened because Jesus had a fervent prayer life. Absolutely. And you know, in Ephesians 6, and I've heard people say that the only offensive weapon that That is mentioned in Ephesians 6 is the sort of spirit. I would disagree strongly with that because verse 18 says.
Right. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit. Right. And so after you list all these different Pieces of armor, right? And because it's clearly a battle, you know, you come up to the You know, the bottom of the list is praying always with all prayer, right?
That it kind of like ties the whole. you know, battlefield together in that when you like you said, with with Abraham Lincoln, or maybe you've had that experience. I know I have. Lots of them. I'm anxious to hear yours.
866-348-7884. Doc. The strongest I have ever been is on my knees.
Now that doesn't sound like a place where anybody would be strong. When you're down on your knees, you're open for easy attack. But on your knees You're calling on God to do what only God can do. Um I preached a message one time, Robbie, at Liberty. I think it was on a Wednesday night.
And I preached the entire message on my knees. Bringing out the points of the different people in the Bible. who had got on their knees To praise God and to repent of sin and to ask God for certain things. The Bible gives all these different people that one of the postures. It's not the only, it's not the only.
But one of the postures that you find biblical people having when they pray Is on their knees. And even the story of Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg, he talks about how he got on his knees. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, as did George Washington, but we gotta go To a break. How about you?
When have you had that kind of breakthrough in prayer? 866, the number to call in, 866-348-7884. I can hardly wait. 866-34 TRUTH. We'll be right back.
Truth talk lies. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to True Talk Live. Today's question, what have you, when actually, when have you had A breakthrough in prayer. Like it was just clearly obvious that God showed up and this peace.
That transcends all understanding, right? It comes over you, and it's like, oh my goodness, I think I have the answer. Or you see God's answer right in front of you.
However, that works, we would love to hear your story. 866-348-7884. It is. 929 or Mark 929's diverse.
So he said to them, This kind only comes out with. prayer and fasting. And so Doc, you got a story like that that you Experience personally?
Well Um Oh. For direction years ago trying to figure out where I was supposed to be during my college years. I went to prayer, fasting. I had a friend that joined me. And my testimony of making a transition from the Crystal Bible College, where I was the vice president of the sophomore class.
I was an intern at First Baptist Dallas. I was living in a home of which I didn't have to pay any rent or pay for any food. I had a whole lot of wonderful things going for me, but yet my spirit was saying go to Liberty. go to Liberty. And I've never been to Liberty, Robbie.
And yet, I'm like, I can't seem to shake this.
So I got my friend, his name was Kirk. And I say, would you join me in prayer and fasting for a period of time as we try to figure out, you know, do I make this change? Because I can't shake. that I feel a drawing, a pulling to transfer to Liberty University, Liberty Baptist College of that time. And I as I'm telling this story, I can visualize uh Kirk and myself meeting uh at at what was uh One of the chapels there at First Baptist Dallas, and just being on our knees on our face.
praying and having fasted, there just came this sense of peace and Kirk just hugged me and he said, All right. I am so Uh disappointed to have to say, Dwayne, I I just believe you got to go to liberty. I can't shake the peace that I have. And I said, well, I can't shake the peace. I believe God wants me to go to liberty.
And Our our friendship continued. He would be in my wedding later on, but he was like, Man, we won't be able to be together. I want to stay at Criswell and you're going to be at Liberty University. And so that's that's my one of my stories of prayer and fasting, that I really believe the One of the biggest decisions I ever made in my life was to transfer from a really good situation. to what would end up one day I'd be the campus pastor of Liberty.
Yeah, big impact. Definitely a breakthrough. How about you? 866-348-7884-866-348. Three, four, eight, seven, eight, eight, four.
It's amazing, isn't it? When. You know, you just know that you don't know. And you just know that you don't have what it is that you need, that you gotta get it from God. And you just keep getting more and more desperate.
We got Mike. is back with us and Truth Talk Mike. You're on Truth Talk Live. Mm-hmm. Thanks for taking my call, Robbie.
I was reminded about when. when I felt like uh I needed a wife and um I really fasted for three or four days in a row. Brian said I needed to pray for my wife, you know, to c to come. And I said, well He said, Well, you need to pray and fast and you know. And at the time I was in the Marine Corps.
Man, I starred for four days. I really did. And And the fifth day I couldn't stand it no more. I had to eat something. And and after that I met my wife at a at a different church.
Um right to be. And uh it was it was like I don't know. It was like a gift from God saying. There she is. You know what I mean?
And um It's my wife said, You were staring at me, you were in the back row, and you were staring at me. And I said, Yeah, God pointed you out to me. I was gonna pursue you and uh And that was later on. I really didn't tell her that when we were dating, but I just knew that in my heart, you know. And um It was really it was really that was the one time that God Well God always, when you pray and fast, comes true for you.
But this is one of the stories that I thought I should tell. And um When I met my wife, she's been great. She's burned. My Probably better than I, better mentor than I've been to her. She's been better to me than I've been to her.
And uh she's sh I call her Saint Tammy. And so how long how long after this prayer and fasting event. Did you actually meet your wife? Probably a day later. Oh, really?
Yeah, a day or two later. It was a Wednesday. I was praying. I started fasting on a Friday. and a Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
Maybe it was a Saturday I started fasting, and on Wednesday night, you know. I I met her and um I, you know, and I we they went out to a bowling alley and uh in that ironic and then we went out to together. Yeah, and we went out to a bowling alley together, and we started. It was, she didn't think it was a date, but I did. You know what I mean?
So. She asked me to go along with the groups that were going to the bully nowey, and they said, Yeah, that would be great. And uh But I thought, you know, the g the guy just says, Oh, this is a date. You know what I mean? This is awesome, you know, so.
Um And then we met, and then I asked her to do different things. We went, it was around 4th of July. And I met her, and we were talking about 4th of July. We were seeing the fireworks, and we were talking to each other. And We'd laughed.
the whole time. just laugh together the whole time. And uh we've got really Um This colours Settled in my heart that God, this is the right one, the right person. And uh because the attraction was there, but the the cu the the um But The the the closeness was better because we were laughing together and we were loving, or taking just having a good time together. And we do that all the time.
Today, we laugh at each other all the time, and I think that's what made our marriage. That and bowling together. She she was a good bowler. It's a really good bullet. Probably better than me when she was younger, so.
And so it was kind of cool that uh we Grown together, and I Carter, I'll tell you this other story. I caught her the other day getting up before I do. And I said, What are you doing? She says, Uh, do I I'm supposed to do this in secret. And she said, Yeah, I'm praying and I'm praying for my daughter and my son.
And And she's been getting up early and praying for her daughter and son. And uh and she's lost a lot of weight, and I know what's going on. And I'm glad I rubbed off on her a little bit on that. And that's cool to see.
So hopefully she doesn't listen to this. She doesn't know I'm talking about her right now.
So, um Yeah, it's it's it's really cold. To have a relationship with a wife like I do, and I am so blessed. Um It yeah, she keeps me on the straight in arrow, that's for sure. Um, you know, especially while we're in the car, you know.
Well, I just think that's so fantastic. I really do that you would. Meat. Your wife. You know, a day or so after this prayer and fasting.
Again, just highlighted. The whole season that God had you in. It's absolutely beautiful.
Well, thank you, Mike, for your call. Absolutely wonderful. We would love to hear your prayer breakthrough: 866-348-7884-866-34 Truth. We'll be back with your story, but you've got to call for us to hear it with. Everybody would love it, I promise.
You call us. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to True Talk Live. Today's question. When have you had A breakthrough in prayer.
When have you had a breakthrough in prayer? We are so blessed to have Susan with us, also in Ohio. Susan, you're on Truth Talk Live. Thank you so much for calling. You're welcome.
And thanks for listening. There are so many miracle stories that I can say, but I'm going to just continue with the last one, my last chapter with my husband. Uh we met fifty-eight years ago, probably through a miracle of prayer. But Our last chapter ended in March of this year. We were married almost 57 years.
Anyway, with his health having gone downhill, the last. six months or so I did a lot of praying of helping us through each day. and as his health declined, I felt more help. Um with him. I was taking care of him and I just felt, especially at the end the last week, where I would I could Raise his legs to wash his feet and things like that.
And I just felt Help. I don't know how to explain it. And then when he Fast. I happened to be in the kitchen writing down urinal contents and everything for the nurses when they would come. And I had this.
joyous filling all of a sudden. This is the day the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. And that's when I heard his last breath. It was a joyous feeling.
Each morning I would wake up during this time and just say, help us through each day. It wasn't for cus He was going to be 80 this year, and he was tired and worn out, and various things go on with the body as we age. But it was just one of those things I felt us being helped. Isn't that beautiful? I'd love that.
It's almost unbelievable. At the very moment That you're Obviously you've been married for fifty eight years.
Well, I met him fifty eight years ago and we got married a year later. We were married almost fifty seven years.
So we've been fifty seven this month.
So they're at that last moment. Right. And they're at that last moment. You felt Actually the words you used for joy. Yeah.
Yeah, I was out here in the kitchen. I just had this joyful feeling and a song come into my heart. I I like music, but I just felt that. And I heard his last breath. I was talking to him and things earlier, you know, like, oh, honey, nurse is going to be here, I got to get dressed, things like that.
So it was just one of those things. And I could tell as that week went that he was changing and we were letting go. because of just things that the body does. But it was just amazing because I just had that feeling and I kn Okay. Because of what he went through, I wouldn't say I want him back.
because I know how he felt. And we all have loved ones we've seen go, you know, so it's it's just one of those there's so many stories of joy and things through the years. That, um It's just this when I'm thinking of someone just and my weight had got I didn't fast, but my weight got down to probably what I was when I was 15 years old.
So, you know, by taking care of him and neither one of us eating a lot'cause we just didn't feel like it.
So I guess I fasted in a way. I've gained five pounds back. Still, just one of those things that that joyous feeling and just praying for God to help you get through each day. That's beautiful.
So beautiful, Susan. I can't tell you how encouraging your words are for all of us, right? To know that. You know, at times it thin seem unthinkable, you know. A piece that transcends all understanding, right?
Just a little bit of a matter of time. one second at a time, one minute at a time, an hour at a time. I mean, just those things and sometimes they okay, Lord, help us through this next page of our chapter'cause it was everybody's got a story, we all have a book, you know. And there's been so many miracles through the years and I just The toughest thing is letting them go, but it's also seeing things else. how someone struggles during that time.
But when you think of what Jesus did for us, and how he suffered, I think that's why we kind of suffer as our bodies wear down also.
So it's just Help you through a lot of praying to help Help me through today, Lord.
Well you're calling me this day. It it worked. Your call means so much to us. It it it truly is such a blessing. Doc, did you have a word that Well, what a reminder again of just practicing the presence of the Lord continually.
Yes, you have your morning prayer, your noontime prayer, your evening prayer. That's all in the Bible there, morning, night and evening. praying but Always Three. Praying without ceasing. And that's what I'm hearing from Susan.
And that's just, Lord, I need you right now. Lord, thank you for giving me the strength right now. Lord, give me wisdom as I have to make a decision right here. Wow, that's the way to be living life. We help us through escape because we all have things we have to learn.
Yeah. Yeah, it's a journey. It's a beauty. It's a process. Yes, yes.
Very much worth it. And today, you know, because I'm. I haven't been alone like this since I was nineteen years old.
So it, you know, here I am seventy seven. And it's it's just one of those things that The Lord Get you through. I remember when I was 18 before I met my husband, and I was at a down point. And there was some negative thoughts going through my head, and I was considering something. The good lord.
And Sad. Nothing lasts forever, it will get better. This too shall pass.
So I just kinda hung in there And it did. You know, I met my husband shortly after that.
So it's just you never know. You never know. Absolutely not. And it's just today going through what I am for adjustments and going through all our are things. I do pray to God to help me make the right decisions here on We'll pray right now if that's okay, Susan.
Let us pray for you.
So, Lord, thank you so much for Susan and her courage to call in today. It means so much to all of us. And, Lord, I pray in this season that she would continue to, and even more so, sense your presence right there with her, that she would be guided by you, that you would direct her, help her to find things to look forward to. Even more to tomorrow, another chance to be with you, or whatever the situation you bring into her life, Lord. We pray for her heart that you would catch her and continue to minister through her.
through the situation that she's now had to help others like she's helped so many today with this phone call. And we again, we thank you for a chance to meet with her. And Susan, thank you for your call. In Jesus' name I pray. Thank you so much.
God bless you both. Amen. Amen. All right, we got Buckman is calling in, also in Ohio.
So, Buxman. All I can say is. Oh wait.
Okay. I mean, all the Ohios, I can do IOC. I mean, I.O., I.O. There you go, Dr. Carson.
Yeah, I he's in Pennsylvania. It's it's Yankee Day. Oh, is it? I I've been thinking that right now. There are a lot of say it Penn State fans.
He's talking about Gettysburg. I mean, it's definitely Yankee Day, I'm just saying. That is so funny. I just wanted to say, guys, I had the pleasure of meeting Mike's wife, Tanny. uh at church.
Oh yeah. Oh yeah. What a wonderful lady she is. And I got to give them a cool pizza place And I told Mike, I said, You need to take your wife and the uh the other dear lady, which was uh the elder pastor's wife, to this place. down south, seventy five from where we all live.
uh there in the Dayton area to uh to get pizza. And so I got to talk to Tammy and this other dear lady, and I'll tell you, they are just a delight.
So, Mike is extremely blessed. You know, Dr. Carson, where the Bible says a man who finds a wife finds what is good and finds favor. Oh, Lord.
Well, that's Proverbs 18:27 or 22. I can't remember. But anyway, Mike definitely got favor from the Lord in Tammy. She's just a wonderful lady. And Robbie got favor from the Lord, and Dwayne got favor from the Lord.
I got on. You know what, Buxman? I got to meet Tammy too, and he. He brought a car down here for the Jesus Labor Love. A wonderful gift he gave our ministry to drive that car down here.
And he and his wife made the trip, and I got a chance to meet her as well. And so, but I've not had the chance to meet you yet, but I'm working on that. We are working on that, Robbie. Yeah, Mike and I was actually talking about that. We are putting a strategy together, if the Lord wills.
We'll all be united before we get to heaven.
So that'll be absolutely fantastic. Unless he comes back to the section. I wanted to call. Yeah. I wanted to call and give you an update.
And I wanted to say thank you for the call. Oh, yes. Speaking about a breakthrough in prayer, there was last night. Yes. So I got off the phone with Mike here in Dayton, who just called in, and I was able to talk to him.
And just right before Mike called me. I talk to the husband. And it was let's just say it was very emotional last night. I told Mike, I said this dear couple didn't leave my house until around eleven thirty last night, and it was very, very hard, guys. Um some truths came out that the wife had withheld Uh but God showed up.
There was order. voices did raise, but God's calmness came. Thanks be to the Holy Spirit that all three of us are Christian. And so I got a call from the husband yesterday Um it looked bad last night. But I talked to the husband today, and he said she's here with me now, and things are improving.
So um I want you to keep praying. We're not done praying yet. Truth Talk Live family. We're not done training yet. I will keep you posted.
As a play-by-play correspondent of this situation. Because I want God to get all the glory. I want this couple to stay together and just prove to the world that God will conquer darkness. Light conquers darkness.
So keep praying, yeah, which is exactly what did happen because. We're as sick as our secrets, right? Or, you know, our secrets hold all the shame power that Satan has over us. And so, just the fact that that came out, and now we can deal with the truth, right? Once you get things out in the light, sets you free.
It definitely does, Bucksman. God bless you. Keep up the great call. And that's what happened, guys. Yeah, and yes, I won't go on because hopefully we got other callers.
We got a break, but we'll be right back. Thank you, Bucksman. Wow, what a segment. We got to get your call. When have you had a breakthrough in prayer?
866-348-7884. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Drew Talk Live. Today's question. When have you?
Had a breakthrough in prayer. And I love the stories that we've heard. Oh, my goodness, of the peace that transcends understanding. I got to tell you, Susan's call is one we will remember for a long time. We would love to hear yours.
866-3666. 348-78848-6634 Truth.
So, my own story, I actually have bunches, but. One that kind of comes in mind since y'all are talking about Tammy. My wife's name is also Tammy. And my oldest son. He was a phenomenal basketball player, in my own opinion.
I'm prejudiced, but anyway, he played really well for a Calvary Baptist Day School here in Winston-Salem and got recruited all over the place. But he really wanted to play out west, and he really wanted to play for a Division I college. And so the University of Northern Arizona had recruited him, which is in Flagstaff. And Um it came time for him to go to college and You know, it was like, well, if we're going to go to Arizona, well, it happened to be the same year we lost a dealership.
So to say we were broke would be an understatement. Like, we'd lost our house, we'd lost our cars, you know, everything.
So. We had a car that I bought in an auction that just driving it to Arizona seemed like a challenge. You know, off we went like Okie's to figure out because they weren't offering a scholarship. They were just saying, well, you don't come out here, we'll figure out something.
Okay. And so You know, obviously, we prayed a lot before we went all the way to Flagstaff, Arizona from North Carolina. And when we got out there, they were like, Yeah, we want them to play, and but you know, we don't have another scholarship. We've used them all up, and so you know, we can get to this and that. And we went and met with the purser's office or whatever it was that was going to help us and Oh man, they needed $20,000.
And um Yeah. The semester started like the next or Robbie was supposed to be at practice or whatever the next day and we'd packed all his stuff and there he was and we needed twenty thousand dollars we did not have. Not even I mean, we didn't have five hundred dollars yet. 28,000 worth trying to figure out how to get the gas to get back to North Carolina. Nonetheless, nonetheless.
Right. I prayed. As you might imagine, Doc, I'm praying like God. You know, here we are. You know, he's played his whole life.
He's worked so hard. This is his dream. You know. And He just gave me this piece. Like it's for it's handled, Robbie, it's just handled.
Right. Right. So you can imagine, you know, the next day we're. Right. Tammy, we're going back to North Carolina because God has this handled.
Well, how's he gonna handle it? I said, I don't know. I have no idea. Maybe my parents will co-sign some. I don't know.
I just know it's handled. I'm not leaving him here. I said, Well, yeah, we're leaving him, you know, and so okay, but boy, you you might imagine, Doc, I heard a little something about it. for three thousand miles. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
It was, it was, but I just, I don't know. I just had this piece. Like, we got this. It's going to be okay. It's going to be okay.
So. Thank you. If I didn't live this, I wouldn't believe it. I really wouldn't believe it. But as you may know, if you're real familiar with our story, when we lost the dealership, we had our accountant.
Had been embezzling money, and she unfortunately had not paid the payroll taxes, especially for the state. And the state had arrested her. And In order to keep her from going to prison for a longer term, she wrote them a fairly large check, which I knew nothing about all this. Actually, I w you know. And when she did that, Yeah.
credited my State tax account by guess what. $20,000. $20,000. So we pull in, I'm telling you, Doc, we pull into the driveway of our rented house because we no longer own a house, right? We're pulling into this rented house on Transley Road.
We stop at the mailbox. We look And inside the mailbox. And guess how much that check was for? I mean, it was like you couldn't write this script, right?
Okay. And there was Robbie's tuition fee. I'll never for like, oh my gosh, Tammy, do you believe this? Like, I can't believe it. And so that was.
Robbie's first semester at fascinatingly, he got homesick and came home, played for UNCG this that fall, and away we went. It was But anyway. I can tell you that um sometimes You'll get a piece that just, again, there was no understanding that at that point in our life. But God just provided. what we needed at that particular moment.
Mm-hmm. And so one As we've been talking about different answers to prayer. because of Mike's story about Tammy, I all of a sudden remembered there was times when we would have all nights of prayer at Liberty. And one time as we were having this all night of prayer, I noticed a young lady had been there for several hours, and I just went over and said, Uh I'm noticing you've been here and I'm just just curious how may I pray with you as you evidently are very intent in your prayer time tonight. She said Mm-hmm.
I am, I decided to dedicate tonight's night of prayer to praying for my husband, my future husband. And um I said, well Uh Amanda, right now If I recall, you're not dating anyone at all. She said, nope, not anyone at all right now. But I just want to pray for my future husband. And um So I just pulled up on Facebook.
I'm looking at her and her husband and how God answered that prayer about three years later. And I just remembered here or she had prayed that entire night. Lord guide me and all these different things about the character she was looking for in her husband. And here I can see how their marriage is still flourishing, and God's using them There's just some you just you put it before God. You put it before God and you wait on His timing.
Yeah, absolutely. And you know You know how neat that Right? You got to be part of that. Prayer. Right, and you got to see the fruit of it.
And You know, how many you know, we got enough time If somebody wants to call, we still got a time for a story. We'd love to hear it. 866-348-7884-866-34TRUS. But I can assure you. Even this morning, right?
That I... Spent a lot of time in prayer this morning just trying to ask God. Give me understanding on a piece of scripture, right? Mm-hmm. open my eyes that I may behold wonderful things from your word.
I don't want it just to be any I want that wonderful component. that brings it to life. Right. And, you know, that that that is a prayer Honestly, he answers every morning for me.
Well, I've been here in Pennsylvania. I've been at a Christian school for the last two days teaching and preaching in chapel. And Robbie, just seeking God's face last night, I knew what I was Thought I was going to speak on, and it was like no peace, no peace, no peace. And finally, there came this. you need to do this today.
And so many people have said, boy, that message that you shared today was spot on. That was exactly what I needed. And I just love when God does that. It's irritating sometimes because I think I I've got everything in place and then all of a sudden he changes. And gives you this is what I need you to be bringing.
So I got up early this morning and I really worked hard on it. And boy, when I started speaking, there was such a piece that passed all understanding that I was preaching the message that he wanted his people to hear. Yeah, it reminds me of Peter Marshall. You might have heard that he was to give the Annapolis address on December 7th. 1941.
And that night, God changed the message where he was to tell this story of a mother who knew her baby was going to die. And um He told the story that the mother, that the baby asked, you know, I guess he was five or six and said, Mama, what's it going to be like when I die? And Peter Marshall told the story. He said, Well, You know how sometimes you fall asleep and your daddy takes you up to bed and you just wake up and you're in your bed home safe? Mm-hmm.
And, you know, that's what it's going to be like when Jesus comes and takes you up to heaven. And I've always That story, like God changed Peter Martin. He's giving this to these so many men at Annapolis that day, which would have that experience. Um is is obviously the Navy was involved in some pretty intense battles right shortly thereafter. And God gave him, you know, that, which It's just beautiful, right?
That he will give you. For just a time as this, like he did Abraham Lincoln, like he did George Washington, and time again, right, Doc? Yes, absolutely. Um on prayer and fasting, um And I know our time is getting short now, but I will always go back to 1996 with Dr. Falwell praying and fasting because we had that huge financial need there.
And I think about how Jesus said to his disciples, this only happens by prayer and fasting. And I don't know when Dr. Folwell ever made the statement the very first time, but when asked about prayer, he said, Nothing of eternal significance ever happens apart from prayer. And I got that quote in 1982 was the first time I had ever seen that quote.
So I don't know when he started saying that, but to all of our listeners today, nothing of eternal significance ever happens apart from prayer. Amen. Three great prayers. Thank you, Doc. Thank you all for listening today.
What great calls! God bless you. Why?
