Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk the truth news. I can't hide it. A daily program powered by the Truth Network. This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what.
Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. It is September the 15th, or as like Dr. Daith Ward Carson would say, 9.15.
And our verse for 9.15 is and I like it, a nice, short, easy to memorize verse. Thanks, Beta. God for his unspeakable gift. And so, with that, it's a great question. What has God given you?
I mean, what kind of gift that you just simply. We're speechless. You can't put it into words. I mean, it's unspeakable. What, what?
Just As you came to unwrap that gift, And you know there are certain gifts that God has given me that I'm actually still unwrapping and You know, it makes me speechless all the time. Um, But how about you? 866-348-7884. What? Yeah.
Gift has God given you in the spirit of September the 15th? Doc, it's an amazing idea. Yeah, 915 is one of my favorite dates when it comes to date the word because, again, you don't have to say A lot to have said a lot. And here the Apostle Paul says a lot by giving us a word that, what? Surely you've got something to say.
And he goes, I'm thinking about Jesus. I'm thinking about my salvation. And. I don't know how to describe it.
So the the title uh for for this date is uh trying To describe the indescribable And when you get to thinking about our salvation, How do you truly describe it. the transformation that God does in a sinner's life that takes that word sinner and transforms it to a saint. Paul wrote to the saints. Um How did I go from being a sinner to being a saint? He takes someone who is an enemy and makes them an adopted child.
And Paul is saying, I just, I'm trying to describe this gift. And as we talked earlier going into the show, what is the gift? Is the gift the gift of the Savior? Which I think there's some good thoughts on that, but is it our salvation? And thanks be to God for you.
For our salvation, which is a free gift. You've got Romans 6.23, for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God. Is eternal life. And how do you even start describing that?
So as we. Wait now for listeners who may find themselves starting to be speechless themselves. I'm noticing thinking about Jesus. How do you describe one that is indescribable? 866-348-7884-866-34TRUTH.
And I find it's really fascinating that here's this verse that has one, two, three, four, five, six words, just a little, right? And he's speaking about being unspeakable, and he said it in very few words. But then he chose a word that's really unspeakable in that it's the only time that word is used in the New Testament. And seeing that. Paul was Jewish and he thought in Hebrew terms.
He used a word that would easily be translated into Hebrew. as this word that means wondrous. Yes. And you know, the New Living Translation, I'm looking at it right now, says, Thank God. For this gift, too wonderful for words.
Exactly. And one of my favorite verses, the 119th Psalm, has always been, open my eyes to behold wondrous things out of thy law. And that is that word. Yes. And when you look at that word, it's a word of wonder.
Yeah. That is that gift that just keeps like, oh my goodness. 8663487884. 8663487884. And You know, I don't know if I told you this, Doc, but I spoke.
At Sweetwater Baptist Church in Atlanta over the weekend. It was wonderful. It's just an amazing church. They have the car show there every year. And God gave me this.
Download, right? That he gives pastors when they pray and they ask for some insight. And it was this gift that he gave me, and it was somewhat unspeakable. But nonetheless, Uh I had forever love, love, love 2 Corinthians. Chapter 1.
First three. The God of all kinds. Comfort. Right. And I was just.
Thinking how true that that verse has come in my life, it is one of those gifts that to me it's unspeakable. How many times I've seen the word of God come true through the God of all comfort comforting me so that I could comfort others, or I'm being comforted by somebody who's been comforted, the same kind of thing, but I had never connected that. To Hebrews chapter 4, where I talked about we have this great high priest that always has been tempted. I thought, oh my goodness, look, Jesus. It's like the Like You look it up in the dictionary, is the perfect poster child for Sega Corinthians chapter one, is what what Hebrews was saying.
And as I thought about that, I thought, And and I think God just gave me this picture. You know, You may feel outcast, or you may feel like people don't listen to you, or you may feel like people don't really believe you. And I pictured Jesus On the cross when Essentially he's being people who are turning their back on him and all that had gone on. but even more so Sunday morning, on Easter Sunday morning. There was not a soul on the earth, not one.
that was sitting there waiting at the tomb, Going, he told us he's going to be here. Yes, there were some that came to love on his body. They didn't love on his body. But they didn't greet the risen Savior. There was no reception party.
You know, nobody that Had said, Oh, yeah, this is what he said. This is what's going to happen. The only people Were a few Pharisees who, you know what? The chief priest go, we better put a guard there just in case, because he said he's coming back and they'll come and steal his body. Right.
They weren't looking for him to be a resurrected Savior like he said he would be. Right, but just think, the Pharisees got it. To some extent, they believe more than even the disciples. And I, you know, it's pretty easy to accuse. Instead, I'm just sitting there going, man, how many times have I?
Mm. Not believed in. How many promises Do I?
Well not. really truly Completely, or sitting outside the tomb door, you know, expecting. And so. You know, the fact that we have the Word of God is like this. It's the whole idea of itself, it's unspeakable.
It's a wondrous, like I will never cease to wonder, but at the same point in time, I can't help but also wonder. You know, when am I going to believe it? Yeah. Really? Yeah uh The father that came to Jesus and asked for his help, and then he said, Do you believe?
And he just got real honest. I mean, you talk about honest to God. He goes, I believe, but help my unbelief. And so we're asking God to do incredible things. And yet we wonder, could he really do it?
I heard a guy preach one time about the fact that every time God answers a prayer, there's a little bit of surprise. And it's like, what are you surprised about? It's like you ask your dad for ice cream and he says, sure. Oh, he did say yes. I didn't think he would say yes.
That's a gift. 866-348-7884. Of course, my favorite one of those stories is the girl at the door when Peter gotten out of jail. He's beating on the door. She cuts the door.
And she's like, it's a ghost. There's, Peter, it can't be you. We're praying for you to get out of jail. There's no way it could be you. God doesn't answer prayers like that.
That's a gift right there, you know? That's a gift reminding. Oh, yeah, faith in of itself is an unspeakable gift. 866-348-7884-866-34 Truth will be back. More of.
It's the 15th day of September, or 9-15, however you look at it. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to True Talk Live today. Is the fifteenth of September, which tells us that Second Corinthians 9:15 is this verse. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
And along those lines, we're asking you to call in. We love these stories. We just do. We got some wonderful ones yesterday. We're looking forward to these today.
What has God given you that you simply can't put into words or just left you speechless? Like, I'm not. Yeah. You know, just took your breath away. 866.
Three four eight. 788486634 TRUTH You know, I've certainly had it happen with my health. I've had it happen with my finances. I've had it happen with family. I've had it happen with, like you said, my salvation.
Um I just know that when I held each one of my children. Yeah. Oh wow. Um And and then This past year, during this year, I would say, we were out at Arizona went to the Grand Canyon. How do you describe that?
And I did. I'm sitting there looking at this magnificent hole in the ground. that the entire state of m Delaware could fit in. And yet I'm How do I describe I'm thinking I I'm I'm I'm I'm thinking you know what? I think your mic I think you're Mike.
It's gone awry on us. Uh oh. There you go, you hit it. There it came back.
So that wire sometimes Keep talking. We were talking about the indescribable, and technology is indescribable. But God is indescribable. It is. When it comes to the Grand Canyon, when you can say that it's grand and you can say that it's a canyon, but until you see it with your own eyes and just the.
Marvel. What all is going on? Forgot Mike is in Dayton, Ohio. Mike, we missed you yesterday. We were expecting the date, the date, the word Mike, but.
Instead, we're getting you today, so I'm ready to marvel.
Okay. Um Well, I got a little story that happened to me yesterday. Um And isn't it crazy how you're always surprised when God comes through for you? I mean, just seriously, you know, it's just. Amazing.
And um Uh I was I was at work, and my sprayer, which is the sprayer to spray my cadmus with the finish. broke down. And it, I mean, it was broken down. And I needed to get this j this these samples to the customer so I can get to the next job and everything was gonna. fall into place if I got them done and of course this the sprayer broke.
And I said, okay, dear Lord, I stopped and I said, I pray to God. I said, God, I'm really stressed over this. I need some help here. God, what should I do with the sprayer and how should I fix it? And God said to me, Hit it with a hammer.
Uh I and I said, God Are you joking with me? I mean, where did this mind come? Where did that come from? You know, I'm like, and then I heard it again. Hit it with a hammer.
And I said, God, you are. I really was just blunt with God. I said, God, you're like one of these guys that I'm working with half the time. They tell me some crazy things to do, and I think it's silly for me to do it. And you, God, I would never thought to hit it with a hammer.
He goes, hit it with a hammer the third time.
So I. Got my hammer and I tapped on it. I didn't want to hit it because I didn't want to break it.
So I just tapped on it and it started to work. And God said, hit it with a hammer.
So I hit it with the hammer, and that sucker went, and it started working fine. You know, it's like. I said, I literally raised my hands. I said, thank you, God. You took the stress out of me, the sprayer's working.
And uh I would have never thought to hit it with a hammer. You know what I mean? Just I'm I'm just telling you that I would have hit it with a hammer to break it, but not with a hammer to fix it.
Okay. And God fixed that little switch. I just hit that hammer and it must have tightened that switch up a little bit, compacted that switch to the bushing that's in there. and it made it seat so then the sprayer would spray. And um And that was awesome.
I love it. That's, you know, and that's a matter of faith there, too, right, Mike? You get instruction like that. Are you going to believe it? Like, and.
And Now there's a couple different places in Scripture it says don't harden your heart when you hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes he has to hammer you. I'm just saying. Yeah. I had a similar thing happen, Mike. This is going to seem like a crazy story, but if you know me, you know I'm crazy, so it's okay.
So I was. You're not crazy. You just have crazy stories.
So I was praying about a lot of things on Saturday morning. And All of a sudden God says to me Slate Street A slate street. And I thought, hmm, that's interesting. Slate Street. I remembered.
That years ago, I lived in Naperville, Illinois. I lived on Slate Street. I said, I wonder if that's what he means, Slate Street. And so I decided to look at an old map of Naperville and see if I could find Slate Street. And I looked at it S L A T E, just the way I would have thought slight streets being spelt.
Right. Because I heard Slate Street. He didn't show me how to spell it.
So then I was like, I couldn't find it in Aprilville.
So I. I just traced down where I knew the college was, where our house was, blah, blah, blah. And sure enough, I go around the corner, you know, just on Google Maps, and I go, and right where I knew I would turn to go onto our street, and sure enough, S L E I G H T Street, right? And as I go down Slate Street with Google Maps, I get to our house. and immediately recognized the address.
And I'm like, oh my gosh, look at that. And my heart leaped because I could see these basement windows where my brother and I. used to sleep. And it brought the flood of memories. It's amazing what's stored in your mind, Mike.
I'm just saying. One of the. You know, undescribable things is how could all this information like, you know, we're talking about literally almost 70 years ago. Like a long time ago. And immediately all these memories came flooding at me.
And I and it all happened because God just said, Robbie wants you to think about Slate Street. Slate Street. Uh Not a street called slate. Anyway, Mike, you you you brought that Unforgettable memory to me, so thank you. Um yeah, it's just You know, God does little things all the time, and he's done some big things in my life, too.
you know, gave me a job when nobody else had to work and Um you know uh Uh healed my uh dad from uh from from a disease and You know, there's been huge things that pillars in my life that I would say that God's given me. And um And I always remember that's what the That's what the Old Testament people did and the New Testament people did. God has done this stuff for me in the past.
So, I want to trust him now in the future. You know, so. Um I I we need to put those pillars in front of us and say God is great, God is good, and all the time. You know what I mean? So, yeah.
And you know, this fits perfectly, by the way, Doc, with Stu's new book that just came out, Thanksgiving. Have you heard about that, Mike? Yes, I have. I can't wait to get it. And it's oh, yeah.
Yeah, and the forwards by Dr. Gary Chapman. And so Stu is all about that idea of of thankfulness and um It It's kind of neat how that whole verse, and like you had said, it's a doxology, but it's short, but it starts out with that. Thanks. Which Is similarly very close to the word praise and extremely close to the word to confess.
And so, oh my goodness, it's all in there. Thank you, Mike, for your call. We need more. 866-348-7884, 866-348-7884. Let's give thanks to God for these unspeakable gifts.
You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live today. How fun we are talking about because it is. The 15th day of September. that would line up with 2 Corinthians 9.15, thanks be unto God for his unspeakable Gift, like what has God given you that you simply can't put into words, that makes you speechless, that took your breath away?
8663487884 866348 7884. And if you were here yesterday listening, we hope you were. Then I've heard Doc talking about an unspeakable gift. I had my unspeakable gift on September 5th of. 1987.
He had his on September 14th of 1986. which was the the first date with, you know, our wives and you know It's not good that man be alone. And I'm one of those. Like, that may be one of the unspeakable gifts, but it's kind of cool because when you look at how Paul set that up at the end of the verse, like, if you could look at 2 Corinthians 9:14, you could make an argument, and I would make the argument, that to some extent he's talking about the unspeakable gift being grace. But You could say also that the unspeakable gift is salvation, but the neat thing is he does not really speak of what the unspeakable gift is.
I mean, he just, it's like he is so overcome with praise. He just throws this out at the end, and he clearly is transitioning because you know, 2 Corinthians 10 is a completely different thought.
So, boom, here we're going to come to an end of this, and he is going to just lay it out there and say, Man, I am just praising God for the unspeakable gift. And every day should start with thanksgiving. As Stu says. You know, the way I was taught to develop a prayer life was with a thing called acts. Begin with adoration, move to confession, and then thanksgiving before you make supplication.
A-C-T-S. Adoration. I'm giving praise to my Father in heaven. Holy is your name. Confessing.
Uh-oh. Closer I get to God, the more evident my sin becomes. Lord, forgive me. Please cleanse me. 1 John 1:9.
But then. Thanksgiving. And you know, Philippians 4:6 says, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication. Let your request be made known to God.
Well, hold on. That's not what Paul wrote. He said, with thanksgiving. And as you begin to think about God at working your life as a father. As a shepherd taking care of you, that even though there's something you're anxious about, bring the request, but bring it with thanksgiving.
And this verse kicks in. I'm talking to someone I can't even describe how good he is, how kind he is, how powerful he is, how strong he is, how wise he is. And so you bringthright. Oh, now we talk about this. Love.
All right.
So we know you got something, man. We would love. I mean, really. The stories are what just keeps me and all that's my way home. I'm looking forward to it.
866 the number to call us, which you gotta do. 866-348-7884. 866-348 Seven, eight, eight, four, and I couldn't help but think, Doc, because you were talking that every turkey, every turkey could tell you that an axe goes with Thanksgiving. Yeah. Yeah.
I sometimes I find myself speechless. Nick, do you find yourself speechless?
Well, you got to admit it, acts goes with Thanksgiving. It just does. You know. It's callers, we need your call now. Yeah.
As we talk about God being indescribable, Robbie sometimes has indescribable dead human beings. When you said Acts and you said Thanksgiving, I immediately my mind just went there. But On the idea of unsearchable, right? Yes. And for those who have ears to hear, I don't want to confuse anybody, but I think this is more than beautiful, right?
That as you're talking about praising God every day, I couldn't help but think of the 145th Psalm, right? Yes. Like, I will praise your name forever. Yes, I will praise you every day. day.
And then what what he says is great is the Lord, Right. Most worthy of praise His greatness is unsearchable. It's and it's a similar word in Hebrew, that word unsearchable. And that word, if you look at the inside of the, you know, kind of like I do, and you look into the real internal way that this thing is working. is this idea of our union with God our marriage to God, our closeness to God, But then it's like the beginning river of thought that stops that.
It's like starts that. It's like the very. beginning that you begin to think about how great God is. It just keeps on going back. It's just looping because you can't even get past the beginning of how great God is, right?
It's just. Speechl like oh well And then, and then, and then, and then, you know, that it's just like this loop. And when you look in the word, it's just, I just marveled at it this morning. It was funny. I told you that it's how the spirit works.
That I was. I was being unsearchable this morning as I was studying that in the 145th Psalm. And then, you know, you called me and said, Robbie, we got to do 2 Corinthians 9.15. I was like, oh my goodness, look at this. Yeah.
You know, and you go back to this component of what we see with our eyes. And there are some things I've seen. I've been up close. in Kenya. to a lion.
In the wild? Yes. And we were on one of those safaris. Female wine? No, no, no, no.
Male. And that's good. They won't eat you. And well. I was a.
I wanted to get real close to get a good picture. And the guy said, Pastor, get back in the bus. Oh, well, he thought you could get eaten right. You would be dinner. But to be that close.
How close were you? Oh, maybe uh 15 yards. Oh, my. Oh, yeah. No, probably 10, probably 10 yards.
And the guide was saying. Yeah, and this line, and the beauty of that, right? Did you see how big his paws were? Like, dude, oh, I got a picture of his eyes. They're so beautiful.
But then from an animal, the Grand Canyon, the Niagara Falls. But as we dive into Scripture... And Scripture begins to reveal to us different aspects of God, His beauty, and all these different words from the Isaiah 9:6 component that He is our Peace. The one, he's the everlasting father. All these different words describe someone that is indescribable, but God's trying to let us know, I'm everything you will ever need.
And he wants a personal relationship, which I think, again, when we think about who should not want us is someone whom we've offended and hurt and been against and cursed, and yet God says, I stretch out my arms for you. And I reach out to you and I call you and I say, come. unto me and you will find rest your soul. What a saviour Uh I think that's been one of my Favorite statements from a guy named Dr. W.A.
Chriswell. He would always say, What a savior! What a savior Absolutely, absolutely. 866. Come on, now you're speechless about something.
You gotta have it. 866-348-7884. I love these stories. You know, like Doc was saying, the first time you held your child, like, oh my goodness. Oh my goodness, I remember waiting for little Robbie.
Oh, it was like, you know, thirty hours or something of labor. And as it was, um, His umbiblical cord was wrapped Around We didn't know what, but it turned out to be around his neck. And every time that Tammy would have a contraction, You know, the little heartbeat thing would slow down, right? Which wouldn't have scared me, except the first time it happened, the nurse went, oh. And when she goes, when the nurse goes, that's like the flight attendant going, oh, you know what I mean?
And they kept on saying, well, we may have to do a C-section. We got to watch it carefully. And this went on for hours and hours and hours. Oh my, wa talk about your prayers, Doc. I was and when.
Robbie was okay and I held him. Like, yeah, speechless. Those aren't to begin to say the words because. You know that was our first child. Tammy was Uh yeah.
You know, just so excited about having that child and all that went into it. And, you know, what an amazing thing. That we get to bring life. Life, like the next generation. Like it happened, and you know, like you said, every one of them.
um of my children. It was a Every birth is a miracle. And we got close to 9 billion right now. But it's still every child that's born as a miracle of God. One of the most beautiful things ever.
As We do this show, Robbie. We're more than just going through the motions here. I'm telling listeners. I find myself again contemplating who God is. And you do.
I'm trying to feel. Here's the Apostle Paul as he's writing this: Thanks be to God for his. What am I going to say? What am I going to write in front of the word gift? And all he can write down is indescribable.
That's amazing. We got Carl. is in Toledo.
So Carl, you're on True Talk Live.
So grateful for your call, Carl? Edible. Good afternoon. I guess it's afternoon. You guys are on the East Coast, right?
Yes, we are. It is afternoon. Yep. My moment was definitely similar to yours. I had to call in because Carl number four, I'm the third, but cool.
I was so afraid and I was young, I was like 22 when my son was born. I'm 55 now. But he wasn't breathing. And man, I don't know that I've ever prayed as much. In that moment, as well as trying to stay calm, cool, and collective as a father should be to my wife, trying to be sure that she doesn't get.
Scared because she just delivered a baby. He wasn't breathing to the point where he was blue. And I spent more time with him in the baby ER than I did with her. Carl, we got to talk about this. Unfortunately, that music means we've got to go to a break.
Can you stay on with us through the break? Absolutely. Because I have so much I got to share with you because it's a good thing my wife is not in here right now. She'd be going, yeah, see how he was to his wife. We'll be right back with a pull-up.
You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. It is 9:15 or September the 15th, and so we're talking about. Thanks be to God for his. unspeakable gift.
And we went into the break speaking with Carl in Toledo. And as I was telling you, Carl, my wife would be punching me in the rib saying, see how he was tried not to overreact to get me upset? You know, like, I'm proud of you, Carl. My wife would be too. Oh, yeah.
Well, I did the best I could with what I had, and I'm thankful for a couple of things. Growing up in quote-unquote holiness, where we were taught Bible memorization. And I never thought as a child that stuff would actually help me. I'm just being honest. No offense to anyone.
However, Man, the scripture just came to me, Isaiah 41 and 10.
So do not fear, and for for I'm with you. Do not be dismayed, and I'm like, God, but my son, you know. And then, uh, not to be anxious with anything, but with all things, with prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. And how can I be thankful? It looks like my kids are not going to make it.
But he made it, he's 33 now. But that experience, it it was physically traumatic. Hmm. And then Right, when he took that breath, I can't even imagine. Yeah.
And so I would imagine like my wife, yours was Um really struggling too, right, through all that.
Well, she didn't see either one of us for some time. I know she was probably wondering what was going on. I didn't tell her for a long while, actually. I don't know what they told her, but I'm assuming they didn't tell her anything. Uh but I was there with him for about a day and then I came back in with him.
Thank God he was breathing. But it was a uh at least twenty four hours in between her having him and me coming back with him. Oh my goodness. Yeah. I bet she was anxious.
Wow. That's quite a story. That's awesome. Right there in Statesville, North Carolina, Iredale Memorial Hospital. Really?
And now you're in Toledo? Oh, well, my hometown's Toledo. As a matter of fact, I'm an employee of Truth Network. Oh, well. You are.
Wonderful. 106.5, WTOD. I know which one you're. And so you're there in Toledo today. Yes.
Well, we appreciate your work, Carl. And I don't think I've ever talked to you before, but I'm really glad I got to today. That's quite a story. Oh, yes, it is. And and you inspired me to kind of remember him.
Thank God. Thank God. It's good to praise God for things, whether it's old or new, to have a spirit of thanksgiving. Absolutely. Well, that makes my day to meet another Truth Network employee I've never met.
And so you you you came from Statesville? Did you work for us before you went to Toledo? No, I didn't. I used to be with American Family. Oh, really?
AFR? Yeah. Yep. Yep, yep. And I know you're familiar with them.
We had a a project called Urban Family Talk for about six years or so. Oh, you got a voice for radio. I can hear it. Thank you, Carl. God bless you, my friend.
Keep up the great work up there. All right.
Thank you. Amen. 866-348-7884-866-348-7884 doc. See?
Well, if you need another verse for 915. Nehemiah 9.15. where Nehemiah is describing well, Ezra is describing the work of God. And it says, you gave them bread from heaven for their hunger. Bread from heaven You brought them water out of the rock for their thirst.
And you told them to go into possess the land which you had sworn to give them. How's that for again? The work of God, just absolutely indescribable.
So, how's your journey been?
Well, God's been giving us bread from heaven. Manna just comes to us, and we were thirsty, but out of a rock came water. He provides. Talk about something that's undescribable. Yeah.
Jacob's well. I don't know if you knew this. Have you been to it? I haven't.
Okay, well this is one of the most easily Like if you want to know where Jesus actually was for sure. Jacob's well is 151 feet deep, and it is there at the base of Mount Gerizim. It's in the Palestinian territory, so everybody doesn't just get over there, but where Joseph gave that land. And so that well is 150 feet through solid limestone. And Jacob and his boys, that's a lot of pickaxing.
I'm just saying. You aren't kidding. And. Just think. of the water that came out of the rock Yeah.
for the woman at the well. And they're talking about what? Right? That's the well that that ended up being.
So we got two. Cleady, it looks like, in South Carolina.
So, is it Cleady? Do I have your name right? Yes, that's right. Oh, wonderful.
So what have you got for us? I'm excited to hear it.
Well, I can tell you many stories, so I have to pick one. But I'll try to be brief because it's kind of lengthy, but my husband had been laid off. This is back in around 1981. He had been laid off for quite a time, probably over a year, and his unemployment checks had gotten 13 weeks behind. And I was a temporary at a company called Stopers.
That makes food. Right. And my husband said, What are we going to do? We just had a Kriller payment is all we had, but he was like, what are we going to do? And I've seen baby, the only thing I know is the word says you'll never see his children forsaken or his children out begging bread.
And if God has to, he'll let us find it in the middle of the road in a bag. If he has to, he'll just drop it from the sky. And back in the 1980s, You could around here do what's called spotlighting, and you'd ride around at nighttime with a light. And sign for deer. And you could just you didn't shoot'em, you just looked at'em because they were beautiful.
And so We had this conversation and he and his friend leave to go spotlighting. And the way you spotlight, one person drives real slow when you get near the fields and one person is on the back of the truck. And when you see a deer, the person with the spotlight on the back, they Bang on the roof, and you stop and look at them. And then, sure, well, my husband was on the back of the truck. It was just the two of them.
And he said they were going down the road, and lo and behold, he sees a green bag in the middle of the road. And he's like, oh my goodness, God has dropped a bag of money from the sky. And so it goes to the bag. Hanging on the roof, and the guy stops and he gets off the truck. And what it is, is a piece of musical equipment.
It was brand new. And um, we looked we checked with our local newspapers and run an ad, tried to find the owner of this equipment. But make a long story short, we ended up taking it to a pawn shop and pawned it, and it wasn't but fifteen dollars. we got for it back in the eighty one and um nineteen eighty one and I just that $15 has always said in my heart that God will provide because, and one other thing I told him, I said. If God has to, Somebody will have made a mistake, and we'll get refund checks in the mail.
Somehow, God is going to provide.
So my husband comes home with the green bag and then the next week Three tags came in the mail. and I can't remember what one of them was. but one of the three was a refund check from my dentist For seventy five dollars. But the other one was a refund check From our insurance company for $250. Oh, wow.
And I called him and I told him What's this check? And they, because I told them, if we cash this check, We cannot pay you back. And They said they back then they were just converting over to computers, and they said. If What happened was we made a computer error. And we figured out it was going to be just cheaper to reimburse all of our customers $250.
than to try to figure out the problem.
So you cash the check, And so when the checks come in, I wish I could remember what the third third check was, but when all three of the checks came in that week, my husband said, you knew these checks were in the mail when you made that statement. Not to mention the bag. I gotta know what was the musical instrument in the do you remember what kind of instrument it was? It was a l little thing that you plug uh that went to like an amplifier, maybe to a guitar. It had a $90 price tag on it.
It was brand new. It was just some little musical. Right, right. Apparently it was electronic, something to do with the guitar amplifier. Wow.
And so, hey. I'm I'm I'm adding it up, but it sounds like it was close to $400 by the time. Which 1980 was a lot of money, yeah. That's amazing. Uh When I was a temporary at Sovers and he was laid off.
That was a lot. That was a lot. You know what I really love about that story, Doc, is Her husband sees a bag in the middle of the road and is like, that's it? That's it. Your husband has faith in you, right, Cleady?
Yeah, yeah, me and Jesus. Yeah. That is that is an awesome He came home that night for spotlighting. with the bag and he said, Just like you Said, God did it. I found a bag in the middle of the road.
Not in the middle of the field, a middle of the road. I love that. And just like he told you.
Well, that's beautiful. Thank you so much for your call. It makes my night, Cleady. God bless you. Where in South Carolina do you live?
Blacksburg, South Carolina. A teeny, tiny little town next to North Carolina. There, I know where that is. Yeah. You go down interstate eighty five, you see a big old peach.
Yeah, you do. That's in Gaffney, yeah. I just drove through there over the weekend.
So you keep up the good work down there and keep your husband straight. Thank you so much for what you do. I love your program. I love you. Thank you.
