Don't cut the grass on Sunday. What a title, what a statement from Steve Jumper. I'm sitting with Steve right now. Steve is a little out. These guys are praying over there.

We just finished Wednesday in the Word. You've been coming to Wednesday in the Word forever. You've led before, you've led us in prayer. You love these men, but you wrote this book, Don't Cut the Grass on Sunday.

Something was driving this book. Because you've always had a heart for reaching people. with the good news of Jesus. Talk to me. What what is behind this?

Yes, do so. Hey, thanks for having me. What what's behind it is uh uh Old grandfather, who, good old Southern Baptist grandfather down in South Carolina. Who, when I was a teenager and I started cutting his grass, they were all about getting ready for Sunday. They were all about getting the work done before church day came.

And uh Those words came out of his mouth, but don't cut the grass on Sunday. And I always thought it would make a great title for a book. And so there you go. And you're right about sharing the gospel. Been on some great mission trips around the world and across the United States.

And so I thought, well, what better way to share the gospel than to write a book and write it specifically? for non-believers, for non-Christians and skeptics. Who knew little or nothing about Christianity in the Bible?

So that's a nutshell.

So, folks, kind of checking the faith out, looking at it. They haven't maybe grown up in church with all the rich things we've heard, and they just. For all they know, a Christian is someone who just doesn't cut his grass on Sunday. And you're trying to say there's a lot more to it, right? There's a lot more to it than that.

And for people who don't know much about Christianity or what the Bible says, You know, you know this too. Christianity is misunderstood. Um people think they know what it's about, but they they They don't know until they read the Bible. They don't know really what the Bible says until you read it. And that applies to Christians, to us, as we have come up and learned about our faith.

I mean, we finally read Scripture and understand it, and same way with. About not working on Sunday. It's a little bit more to it than you think.

So the idea was to get somebody's attention with that title. Um, if you're a non-believer, uh, you look at that title and go, Oh, look at those Christians. You know, they just have those rules and more rules, and you can't do you can't have any fun if you're a Christian. And so, Later in the book, I addressed the title of the book and the backstory of the book, and then scripture that relates to Jesus and what he said about the Sabbath, and how he was criticized for healing people and doing good on the Sabbath by the Jewish leaders. And he had some surprising words for them, I'm sure.

There's a copy on its way to the White House. Why did you send the president in the White House a copy of your book? Don't cut the grass on Sunday. Well, in all my marketing efforts, you know, I'm looking for folks to help me out and get the word out there. And Caroline Levitt is a solid Christian lady, and so I mainly sent it to her.

I thought that she could share it with the president and We'll see what happens, you know? What's the big takeaway, Steve Jumper, from this book? What do you want people to read it? Yeah.

So, a Christian gets it, and they know the Lord, and they like the title, they know you, and they're like, Hey, I want to read this book. What do you want them to come away with? Say an unbeliever season. They're like, hey, that interests me because I've always been fascinated by that idea. What do you want them to come away with?

Kind of what's your dual application or desire or passion for the outcome?

So, most of the people that have read the book are Christians, and surprisingly, they said this is a great review because. What my design was, or what my thought was, in how I wrote the book and structured the book, and organized the book, was to provide a straightforward explanation. of Christianity, of the faith, and what the Bible says as simply and straightforward as possible without being theological, without being churchy. And I tell the non-believers in the book, it's all addressed to non-believers. And I tell them, listen, I am not trying to convert you or persuade you.

Stu, you know we don't convert or persuade anybody. It's the Holy Spirit that does that work. And so I tell the reader, hey, I'm just trying to give you some information that you don't have. Just trying to share with them what they don't know.

So to give them knowledge. And of course, there's a chapter in there about the gospel, what the gospel is. And of course, I have to tell them, how do you become a Christian? Because a lot of times we as Christians fail. We can preach all day long, but if we don't tell a person, hey, This is how you become a Christian.

That really loses the power there.

So it's basic, it's one of those books that. You really got to nail these foundational truths down.

So, wherever you are, if you're checking it out, maybe you wanna get a couple copies for someone you've been trying to share Lord with. Their idea of Christianity is a bunch of people to go to a weird building on Sundays and they don't cut the grass on Sunday. And that's the name of the book. Steve Jumper's the author. We just wrapped up Wednesday in the Word.

Actually, we wrapped up quite a few minutes ago, but the guys are still praying and talking and fellowshipping all over the restaurant. Here at Dario Steve Jumper. A very important question. The world is wanting to know. The world is wanting to know.

They're asking this question. Who is Steve Jumper? Can you answer that? Tell us. Oh, Stu, um I I you know, I'm just a guy.

Um I'm just a guy. Trying to Do what all these guys do here. Come here to you every week. Get filled up with the Holy Spirit. Get filled up with the Word.

And as you are constantly reminding us, go tell somebody about Jesus. And so, in Don't Cut the Grass on Sunday, it covers a lot of ground, and maybe just somewhere along the line, somebody gets introduced to Jesus. And my prayer, my prayer is that the Lord. We'll Get me the person that that is a non-believer. and they happen to choose to come to faith.

Because they read this book. Even a person that doesn't come to faith that's read this book. I prayed to the Lord that he would provide one person to give me that kind of feedback. What was the turning point in your life, Steve Jumper, where you. Really Got serious about God, where you really found a relationship with Christ, you know, growing up in it all your life, growing up with great grandparents and great things like that.

But what was it that happened to you? that the where the light came on in your life. Stu, thanks for asking that question because in the book I do share my personal testimony. And part of my personal testimony is when I was 12 years old is when I received Christ for the first time. But as you are well aware, I went through a dark period of time in my life where I went through a bad divorce, custody, a battle with my daughters.

And it was really a bad time. And then you introduced me to A traveling missionary, and he sent me around the world on some great mission trips. To Southeast Asia, and I learned that I had a gift for evangelism and sharing the gospel. And there's nothing like meeting a person who has never heard the name of Jesus. And they Allow you to share your faith, allow you to tell the story about Jesus, and you can see the countenance change, you can see the Holy Spirit fall on them, and they receive Christ, and their eternity changes forever.

How do folks get the book? Don't Cut the Grass on Sunday by author Steve Jumper. The name alone is an attention grapper. I'm telling you, if you know this guy, he is a wild man. Steve Jumper, how did they get this book?
