This is the Truth Network. Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk the truth. I can't hide it. Back in the A daily program powered by the Truth Network.

This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. How do you Guard your heart.

How do you guard your heart? That's our question for today because today is. Spiritual Heart Awareness Day. Today is April the 23rd, 423, and we've got one of the most important verses that we will ever need to wrap our heads around, our hearts around. Proverbs 4.23 says, guard your heart.

with all diligence. for out of it springs the issues of life. Proverbs four, twenty three We want to hear from you. How do you guard your heart? Heart, 1-866-348-7884.

I'm Dwayne Carson, and with me at his home, as he's still recovering, is the one and the only Robbie Dillmore. Robbie, I say welcome to the show on Heart Awareness Day. This, yeah, you couldn't be more central to the Christian world as, you know. Our hearts are the issues of life, they flow out of them, right? And Wow, what a treasure it is.

Because obviously we were made in God's image, and so we have this heart because God has it. And so it's pretty exciting to know. That a lot of the things that totally grab our hearts. Are of God, like his word. And so that ends up being one of the ways that we guard it, right, Doc?

Yes. And God Himself has said in Deuteronomy 5:29, oh, that they had a heart to love me. That's what God desires. When you say, What does God desire? He wants to know that we have a heart.

that loves him. Um you know the first time the word heart is mentioned in the Bible is in Genesis 6 where God says their heart was Given to wickedness And Jeremiah 17 will speak about our hearts being deceptive and wickedly, just a wicked heart. And we got to be so careful. Of trusting our heart, of following our heart. Those are worldly statements.

I had a gentleman say to me today. Are you saying for me to follow my heart? I said, Oh, no, no, no, no, don't follow your heart. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding, acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will direct your paths.

And so when we take this verse. This this it is, it's a central verse, Proverbs 4, 23. Um it may be I There's so many great verses, Robbie, to say this is the most important, but When we think about what comes out of our heart, and Jesus talks about that. About the good stuff that comes out, but the bad stuff that comes out. And I think we're going to explore together the heart really is viewed many times as soil.

And what's going into it is seed, and seed brings forth. it can bring forth some horrible fruit. It can bring forth some beautiful fruit. This may be one of the most important verses we will ever take time to explore.

So, listeners, we're looking for you. We love to hear from you, the insights you can give to us and to others. 866-348-7884. How Do you Guard your heart. How have you been able to put parameters around your heart to keep out the bad stuff?

And then what do you do to make sure it's being fed the good stuff? Um Robbie, this idea of the heart being Soil. Uh why don't you explore that for us? You and I were talking earlier. Yeah, it's absolutely amazing.

And I'm personally really excited about people calling in because this is something we all could use help with. Like, you know, Solomon gives us the idea of guarding it, and then he gives us some verses afterwards. to give you some idea but you know it's just something you got to be really really careful with and so You know, I've had a lot of time. here this week in prayer. And I was asking God, you know, where he wanted me to study.

And interestingly, he kind of took me to that. Um Leviticus 19:18, where he talked about loving your neighbor, but before it says love your neighbor, it says, that you're not supposed to avenge and you're not Um to hold a grudge. And when I went to look at those words, They began with a particular Hebrew letter that has to do with like a seed that plants up and it grows. And I began to think. About those seeds of holding a grudge, especially, and avenging yourself.

I realized, oh my goodness, that as I think about these different people's names, I just all I have to do is think about that person. and something springs up. And it isn't good. And then the question is, am I going to feed that particular root? With more information that would make me hold that grudge further or build my case against him.

or or build the idea of avenging them or am I going to Um do what God would have me do, which is to humble myself. And see and have compassion and love my neighbor as myself rather than do those two things it told me not to do. Um As I can see, that I have all these roots that are growing around in my heart, that the last thing in the world I need to do is feed them. And so taking thoughts captive. And taking them to God and saying, no, this isn't right.

What do I do with this? and helping him lead me towards humility and compassion for that person that I really don't even know. Yeah. You know what they the reason they did what they did, or the reason these things happened, right? The way that you're gonna keep that grudge from growing.

is to forgive them, even though you may not know exactly why or what their motives were. Robbie, we were looking for callers and we have one. We have Devin. From Fort Wayne, Indiana. First time Colin.

Devin, welcome to Truth Talk Live. What do you got for us? Hey hey there guys, my name's Evan. Um I turned the radio on today. I've actually never heard your program before, so about ten minutes ago.

And this is something a little different. You're talking about the heart. I got something kind of sad to share with you all. I just need some prayer. This is for my cousin.

His name is Ryan, and he lives um just north of Fort Wayne. I got the news today. His wife Um I think she was thirty four, passed away today Um due to hard complications. Um And Ryan's also lost his mom and his dad in the past three years and then his wife today, my mom had called and told me that.

So if you all could pray for him. Um for healing and um Long suffering. I believe she is with the Lord. I just wanted to bring that out to y'all today.

Well, Devin, thank you for calling. Yes. You know, the Lord is near. The brokenhearted. And Rodby, you take a moment and let's just pray for Ryan right now.

Yeah, let's do that. And certainly, Lord, thank you so much. for this call. as I know that um You love Ryan and you know exactly what's going on in his heart. You have so many people that are listening right now that can join with us in this prayer as we.

gather together on behalf of Ryan, they intercede for him, his family. His heart is I can't even imagine losing his parents and then losing his wife at such a young age. Lord, we pray that you would. You would be there for him that he would sense your presence like he's never sensed it before. that he would feel your grace and your favor and your love.

uh in ways that we don't understand but i do know that um When things like this happen and people are greatly afflicted. It opens a door to you that only happens in times like this. And so, Lord, I pray that he will reach for that handle to open the door to you in this time. And I ask this in Jesus' name. Amen?

Evan, we'll be right back with you, okay, if you'll hold on. You're listening to The Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. We welcome you back to Truth Talk Live. Today we're talking about how do you guard your heart and Evan from Fort Wayne, Indiana has called his If I have this right, is this your brother r it that's ri it's named Ryan? He is my cousin.

Your cousin. Your cousin. I apologize. Your cousin. And his wife suddenly has died of.

Heart disease. And we just wanted to say to you, thank you for calling, allowing us to come alongside to pray for him, to pray for you. And just want to highlight for you to maybe share with Ryan Psalms 147:3. Robbie and I have done lots of ministry together over the past few years and Psalms 147 verse 3 has become very special as we work with families who lose loved ones. He heals the brokenhearted.

And he binds up their wounds. And I would say, Robbie, part of guarding the heart is making sure when it is broken, and you pointed out to me one day about the brokenness, it's like being hit with scrapnel from a grenade. It's not just one cut. But he knows how to come alongside and heal those different places that are. that are that have been cut, that have been hurt.

And if we don't deal with that, it can lead to a bitterness. And. And just again, the discouragement that can come from this. But then it says he binds up their wounds. And the idea of that, Evan, is that.

He puts on a saddle. around our heart to bind us like putting on a saddle on a horse and you cinch it up tight. And that's our prayer for Ryan and your family as they go through this just awful time. Yeah, we really do. But I appreciate so much you calling in today.

I really do. Yeah. Yeah, thank you guys for answering. Yes, sir. And so we we're talking today and you Evan, you have a wonderful, again, blessed afternoon just knowing God's going to be with you and your family.

All right, he sure is. This was an answered prayer. Thank you guys. Thank you so much. God bless.

So, man, we need some more calls. Like, that's a beautiful thing about Truth Talk Live, Doc, is these calls. Yes. So, I pray that if it's on your heart. About how to guard your heart, or something that you would like us to pray for.

That's what we're here for: 866-3666. 348-7884. The number to call in and share 866-848-848-84 three four eight seven eight eight four Um Those are tough. Yes. Really unthinkable.

to go through that much loss. Um But I know that God will be in it. He'll just show up in amazing ways in times like that. When I you know it it I'm sure you've experienced the same thing, Doc. It's one things are just horrific and you're totally afflicted.

Yes. That God shows up in a bigger way than any other time. And it's. Um They're some of the treasures of my life. They're the faith builders.

um that sometimes i go back to talk about garden your hearth just saying No, God has come through for me before, and this, and that, and the other. And so, even as I was. having to go down on this get these x-rays on my back Actually, it was a CT scan and an MRI. And again, it might. You know Bones in my back were literally broken, and you're having to lay on this table.

And again, there's not, you know, it's just excruciatingly painful. But I knew, like, man, God had come for me when my leg was crushed. He came for me when I fell out of the tree. All those things that I've been through, the people that know me. And I was just like, God, I know you're going to be with me.

I don't know how I'm going to get through the next. you know, 30 minutes of this MRI. But Lord, you've been there with me every single time and you're going to be with me again. And once again, Doc, he's right there. And next thing you know, that time is over and the affliction is.

Is is but then the favor that you have is spending that time with them. I'm sure you've experienced the same thing. Absolutely. Again, the Um Sometimes the the time we need him the most. Um is when we really wish we didn't need him.

But he's right there. He's right there. And as we talk about guarding our heart, protecting our heart. We've got James from Jacksonville, Florida. James, welcome to Truth Talk Live.

What do you got for us, sir?

Well, I would just throw this out. I just turned the program on and I love it. And uh, so I haven't been listening for just a few minutes, but I love the channel, and this is a great show. I would say, above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Yes, but I would say that as we walk closer and closer with the Lord.

We know that and the listening audience that may not know this, You guys can confirm this: the closer you get to the Lord, the more of a threat you are to the devil. And subsequently, you are going to have some definitely valleys and some. On mountaintops and so forth, and you are going to be under attack. The more influence you've got for the kingdom of God, the more trouble you are on the radar for the devil. And I would tell you, the full armor of God has never failed, and it won't fail.

It's the Lord's word. How does it break it down in Hebrews 4:12? The word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. You know, I mean, it it's incredible and the more that you get into it, the more that the Word of God gets in you and the Holy Spirit fills you to overflowing. To be able to stand up to that kind of thing, because you will have it.

And most people that are older, a little bit older. Have been through places like that, whether it's a cancer survivor, whether it's broken bones. Whatever it may be, and I just pray that when they experienced those things, they were a child of God and they had a personal relationship with Christ because without it, We're lost. We're lost at sea. We have no rudder.

We have no Focus of no Hope. And once our foot is on that rock, Um It it just It's a wonderful, wonderful, beautiful thing, the grace of God, and this protection in his promises. And Psalm 91:11, as you know, he says, For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. It's not a joke, it's the real deal. Yeah, and I liked what you said, James, about as you're getting closer to God, He's got His hand on you, He's using you, you become a greater target for the devil.

And part of guarding that heart is being on alert. And I think about Job. When you read Job 1:1. You read about one of the most incredible champions for God. This guy's got his life.

Where he's fearing God and he's respected among people because he treats them with respect. He's blameless. He's got these great words of description of his character. And then all of a sudden Satan says, Hey, God, can I talk to you about Job? Yeah, yeah.

And here we go. The word says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. And then you go to a verse like Nehemiah 8:10. I think at the end of it, it says the joy of the Lord is our strength.

So once again, that relational closeness of the Holy Spirit. Yeah. It it's there's nothing like it. And uh Yeah, I 100% agree. Joe was incredible, and what a role model.

They are.

Well, James, thank you for your call. How long have you been following the Lord? october eleventh, two thousand nine. Wow. Wow.

It's beautiful. You might check out John 10, 11 for a really good Bible verse. For that for that. If the enemy comes only to kill, steal, and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.

But what's 10-11?

Well He is your shepherd. And uh Let me make sure Like Psalm 23, the Lord is my shepherd. Yeah. I am the good shepherd, and the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep. John 10, 11.

And that's how you get to have the abundant life. Because you get life from the shepherd who gave his life.

Well, James, thank you for your call. And we're looking for other callers. 866-348-7884. This is Truth Talk Live and we will be right back after these announcements. Truth talk line.

You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. I'm Dwayne Carson along with Robbie Dilmore, and today here on Truth Talk Live, it's 4:23, April the 23rd, and we're looking at a verse. That I, Robbie, have told probably, I don't know, thousands of people. That they need to memorize.

I put it in the top 50 of verses. You got to memorize Proverbs 4:23. Guard your heart. And then it says these three words, with all diligence. And that speaks of that seriousness.

Um, and then why is it so serious? Because out of it, from out of your heart, springs the issues of life, the things that are going to give to you life. or the things that will take life from you. And so today we're talking about how Do you guard your heart and uh We have time. Hard.

From North Carolina, Todd, welcome to Truth Talk Live. How can we help you today? Um I just happened to turn on the radio and heard y'all talking. And I'm just I'm struggling. I'm a Christian man.

But I uh My life is full of anxiety and worry and depression. Uh And uh A whole lot of there's health issues going on. And I don't know. I just wanted to talk to somebody. Yeah.

We're so glad you chose to talk to us. Um And so How is uh How has your prayer life been during this time or what are you sensing from God?

Well, I pray. I pray every day.

Sometimes I mean Uh I do my devotions. I just I'm bye. Like, I'm so slat. I've gotten to the point, I'm almost emotionless. got no feeling, getting no joy.

can hardly laugh. And I like to laugh. Uh I'm just uh And so, if you got something that you might classify as a a giant that's coming up against you that seems like it's just beating you down. Yeah, I mean It might just be me. Yeah and and uh You know, self-defeating or something.

I don't know, but. It's just I've had a Long recovery from a knee surgery last year. It hasn't gone as well. I can't do the physical things I want to do. Uh Just And it's really gotten worse the last several months.

And now I'm to the point I just I don't know. Great. Mm. Just sort of hit the end of my rope. I started some new You want to see some new medical professionals but everything takes time and I just I need some kind of So the self-park that you're hearing on the island.

A second ago, I heard you say, you know, maybe it's just me. You know, and again, there it If something's coming from God, it's never condemnation. And so Or are in Those messages coming towards you Error. You know, what are the voices, what are they saying to you?

Well That I haven't done a good job as parent.

Well stay stay here in life. You know, maybe it's my fault that I can't do the physical stuff even though I have worked my tail off doing therapy and stuff. Right?

Well, let's just go back to the first couple that you mentioned. Um that you haven't been a good parent. And that you've been a failure in life. take the part where you've been a failure in life. That wouldn't But do you think that's coming from anything that God would have that opinion of you in any way, shape, or form.

I don't think so. Yeah, you hear what I'm saying? Who is you know a lot of times and maybe i'll explain this it this way A lot of times in my life, I thought there were just two people on the stage. There was Robbie and God. And so if my life's messed up, it must be Robbie because it sure in the world couldn't be God, right?

But it came to understand there's actually Another person on the stage, and a lot of times I'm hearing these voices, or I'm hearing these things, and you have an enemy, and he's been coming against you your whole life. And so when you hear things and they usually Like you're such a mess up.

Well, you don't call yourself you. Right. And so you hear this voice, and it's telling you: you're a failure. Those messages aren't coming from God. Those messages are coming from an enemy who really feels like he wants to get you on a rope.

And so, as it says, and Doc will give you the exact verse, it's you take each thought captive, right? And bring it to God. And so if you could take that thought, wait a minute. I know God doesn't feel like my life's a failure. If you have children, obviously you have some good fruit right there.

And the fact that you're a Christian, and I can hear underneath the sorrow, I hear some joy down in there. And I can sense that it wants to get out really bad, but again. It seems like your enemies got you on the ropes to some extent. I'm hoping that you are getting some other. Um counseling and some other medical help.

as it sounds like you're really struggling, but The one thing I would say immediately is is is let's take hold of some of these Words that you're hearing about yourself, like, I'm not a good parent.

Well, You know, it sounds like you must love your child, or you wouldn't feel like you weren't a good parent, right? And so, you know, love covers a multitude of sins. And I think that, you know, the perfect parent ain't out there that I know of. And so we lean on God for that, and there is a difference between Um conviction and that kind of thing. Does any of that Um makes sense to you, Tom?

Yes, sir. And I'll I you know, I'll I'll tell sometimes it used to work better before all this Got worse, but I told Satan the thoughts come into my head, and I told him to go away. And Harsh words. Get out of my head. Right.

That's where you you want to be meditating on 2 Corinthians 10, 4 and 5. But then You add to that and and this would be my encouragement to you because the idea that you and I deal with anxiety is so real because the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4 verse 6 says, Do not be anxious about anything.

Well, the reason he says do not be anxious about anything is because we are anxious about almost anything. And so he gives this teaching because it's a real part of who we are. And Uh Maybe, and you may already be doing this, just a suggestion. Spend a little bit more time in the book of Philippians. Maybe read that at one setting.

It's four chapters, 108 verses. And it'll talk to you about, again, dealing with those. Those things of anxiety. And then, again, you've got to speak the truth. to yourself about what God says.

And here's what we do know. God loved you so much He sent His Son to die. And if you were the only one on this earth, he would have died just for you. He died for the whole world. But he would have died just for you.

And so you have to speak that truth: I'm sorry, Satan, but God loves me. God loves me so much, He sent His Son to die for me. What have you ever done for me? Absolutely nothing.

Well, let's pray for Todd, Doc, while we can. Yes. Before we come up on the break.

So, Lord, I thank you for Todd and the amazing courage. that he had to call in today and I thank you that I know he knows you. And I can sense he's he's You know, when will you turn? And we start asking for help, Lord, you're right there. And so, Lord, I pray that He would sense you, your presence, would know in your presence his fullness of joy.

I pray that. In spite of the anxiety, he can turn towards you and feel that joy again. I pray that you would um Give him Um Or raise up the counselors in his life, raise up the people that he that could help him both. physically and emotionally, Lord. I pray that you would surround him with good people, helping them find.

the church, the Sunday school class, or the community that he needs. In order to make progress in this, Lord, again, I thank you so much for this call. I thank you for all those who are praying for him right now, Lord, that you would heal him, that you would touch his mind. protect him that you would put a A barrier, a hedge around him from his enemy, which is trying to get to him. Help him to take those dogs captive.

Help him to hold them up to you in light of scripture. that he knows that he knows down to the center of his being. That you love him with a love that's absolutely unbelievable. And for his children, Lord, that you would. Heal that situation as well.

Help him to love his children well. Help him to see. opportunities to just continue to parent them. Is this just not over? Again, I thank you first call.

I thank you for my friends. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. I mean You take care of it. Thank you very much.

Thank you. You're welcome.

Well before we go before we go to the break Robbie, we've got Thomas from Chesapeake. Thomas, welcome to Truth Talk Live. What do you got for us today?

Well, um The scripture is pretty clear that if you know something's right and you do it, you'll have joy. If you don't do it, you're not going to have joy.

So sometimes obedience is just painful. It hurts. And but you'll have joy. No. Uh That's that's the main thing.

But Actually, I'm veering off a little bit here, and I don't know if you want to do this or not, but I've called in before. about the proposal that God gave me for the public square sectoral Moors of America. And the reason I'm bringing it up in this segment is because there are so many people in our country who are suffering as a result of this This is conflict. And those people I believe God's heart is for them when He's trying to lower the temperature in the country and move the public square sexual mores. public square authority back to the people on a state level.

because it lowers the rhetoric, it pulls away the the strong left and right pulls that are driving people crazy. and it will help help to alleviate that. In addition, Our international peers are looking down at us because they think we're pushing immorality and trying to teach their children to fornicate. And that is what we're doing through the State Department. You can't just have to be happy.

Well Thomas, we have to go to a break and we do appreciate your call. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to True Talk Live. It's April the 23rd. 423 and I'd like to call Today Heart Awareness Day.

Why? Because Proverbs 4:23. Proverbs 4, 23, guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. And we, yes, must take care of our physical heart. You you've seen the commercial.

How's your heart? And then someone will say, I think it's okay, or it's fine.

Well, how do you know? And they've got that device they want you to purchase so you can check your heart.

Well, how's your heart spiritually? How do you guard it? And why is this so important? Robbie, as we're talking about the importance of it, I'm reminded that Jesus said in Matthew 15:19, out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts. murder, adulteries, fornication, theft.

Uh false witness, blasphemies, these these Devastating sins. They are acted out start from what's in the heart. Those wrong things are in the heart. We're seeing a.

some horrible violence lately with teenagers. Oh man. Where is that coming from?

Well the murders are coming from the heart and so something's got to be put into the heart. that is going to force out that wrong stuff. And as I was thinking on this this morning, You know Robbie. What every person needs, quite frankly, is a new heart. And how do you get the new heart?

New heart? You're born again. When someone's born again, they get a new heart. And now you begin to fill the new heart with the Word of God. And that word of God is that saturates your heart, that's going to bring forth a whole different fruit.

than what an evil, wicked heart would be bringing forth. Um Yeah, I love it. I love it. You know, there's a couple things that that The one thing is that I love to ask God, like in my prayer time in the morning, you know, search me, oh God, know my heart, you know. Try me to know my thoughts.

That that Psalm, but I like to just really get there with him and say, Lord. Show me.

Something I need to work on in my heart and show me in scripture where that is. And it's amazing how often this Holy Spirit will take me, like, you know, like he did. Uh in the Leviticus this week. and other passages in Ephesians, even this morning. is is I'd like to just ask him In a where Where am I, you know, off track here?

And it's fascinating how. the scripture pouring into those places that have actually become a bitter root. Um that we need to You know, hold captive. And the other thing I was thinking. As you were describing that, Is That You know, when you look at the parable of soils, he even says that out of a good, out of his good heart, Right?

That That Jesus is saying that this person that is the good soil does have a good heart. And and that that idea of a good heart Um of course there It's a complicated issue when it gets down into there. And that's why I say. Man, God help me with these things because I want to have that good and noble heart. Right?

Yeah. Um To guard your heart. Robbie E We know. Going to a doctor for that physical That checkup. It's difficult.

Ugh. I I don't I don't want to find out some things that I may really need to find out. And when they take the blood pressure and all those different things, it's like, oh, am I going to get good news or bad news? You said You asked the Lord Psalms one thirty nine twenty three twenty four Search My heart. And and listeners, I'm telling you one of the Hardest things you'll ever do, but one of the smartest things you'll ever do to guard your heart is to say, Lord, search my heart.

See if there's any wicked things in there that needs to be rooted out. And then again, we remind all of you: we have such a gracious, kind, heavenly Father. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us. And that's part of that cleansing. Hey, Robbie, we've got Jamal online here, and we want to welcome Jamal to Truth Talk Live today.

Hey, always good to hear the dynamic duo in the seat, Gilmore and Doctor. Glad to see you guys back. Thanks for taking my call. Doctor, you kind of hit what I was going to talk about. is the the violence that's that's going on.

Um What do we do about that? What are we consuming?

So just to kind of add on to that, We know that the the media. I know people talk about the media a lot, but you know, it bears repeating. The media is just saturating us with things that are just ill to the soul. That are just not conducive and constructive to us. You turn on the TV, you see all kinds of sexualization.

Well, you think, okay, well, I'm just gonna get off T V like I did, or I'll just. Go to YouTube. Maybe that's it. Nope. Wrong.

Ant. Try again. It's on YouTube as well.

Some of the movies, music, anywhere you turn to. There's a lot going on. And unless you guard your heart. Against what's out there. You might just say, you might just succumb.

You'd be like, well, I can't get around it. Let me see you. what list or of the evils I can watch or listen to then you can find yourself consumed by that culture and then you're comfortable. in that culture, but that's the fear right there. You become comfortable.

with something going in your mind, into your heart, That And you know you should not be letting that happen, but you become comfortable with it. You know, when you think about that, Doc, what Nick was talking about before the show is we were talking about it, that. We were talking about these Victoria Secret commercials that used to come on and the different comments. you know, or the different ways that we could avoid that kind of thing, if we're trying to guard our hearts. But therein lies the deal: your heart gets harder to that, and that becomes more comfortable.

Then, oh my goodness, it begins to plant some seeds that you do not want to bear. You don't want to harvest that fruit. It's going to be. Phenomenally bitter, right? Yeah.

Uh Satan loves to lie to us that What you're doing is not that bad. Right. Next thing you know, We've got a Seed that has been implanted in our heart that's now starting to grow roots. I love your analogy, Robbie. And that root now is going to spring up, and that's what Proverbs says, but it's going to spring up if it's sin, it springs up death.

James chapter 1, when you yield to temptation, temptation is not a sin, but when you yield to temptation, It brings forth Sin, it can save sin, but then sin is going to give birth. to death. And we need to understand when you say yes to temptation and you have that baby called sin, that baby sin is going to bring forth death. It's going to bring forth You bring death to life in your life. And and the Greek word there for uh Sin bringing forth is a Greek word that's used for a monstrous birth, not something that's beautiful, like when we have a newborn.

It's a monster birth that's just going to destroy you. And so that's why, again, so important to know that you've got to guard the heart, be diligent with it. Don't let the wrong things be going in. But, Jamal, let me just pitch this to you. Give me a few things that you can be doing.

to fill your heart with the right stuff. I'm so glad you asked, Doctor. I was just thinking about not taking up too much time, but since you gave me the floor, I'll just go ahead and take it.

So this might sound Pollyanna, this might sound a little antiquated. But um The Bible says that So a man thinks, so shall he do. And If it's not of God, it's of the enemy. I mean, he's real straightforward with that.

So, what does that mean?

Well if I'm in Bible studies rather than going out to the club or, you know, going out to the bar. I'm around godly people doing godly things. If I'm at home, And I'm listening to Truth Network. I just get ready to say listening to Truth Network is going to help. Most definitely.

I I didn't always listen to it, but once I started, I became hooked. then you can also go to different teaching Videos. You know, there's Lee Strobel has a teaching video. You have folks like Clearview today that talks about current events.

So you can also Equip yourself by learning about more Christian I guess Christian endeavors and Christian movements.

Now, somebody could say, well, Bible, Bible, Bible, what if I want to do something else?

Okay, that's fine. If I read upon your history and read upon the Constitution, Uh read about different cultures. Uh read about uh the Japanese culture. Read about uh European history, European culture. That way you're not consumed with civilization.

You're not consumed with money and greed and violence. One more thing that I want to kind of ask the listeners. Then you're also looking at ways you can develop yourself, you know, develop your resume. You know, I have a problem with stutter.

So I looked up ways to develop speech speech better. I still have a problem with that. If you catch it. Uh, you can learn on how to exercise better, so on and so forth. Different ways on self-development.

So, there's a myriad of different ways that we can. Have things that go into our minds that are constructive rather than the things that are out there in the world that are destructive.

Well, Jamal, you have brought this show home for us. I'm going to just simply add one thing to it. You want to guard your heart. Saturate. your heart with scripture.

And that's Truth Talk Live right there. Saturate your heart with scripture. Robbie, thank you for joining us today. We hope your recovery continues to go well. Thank you, listeners.

Yeah.
