This is the Truth Network. This is the Truth Network. Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk the truth news. Get hot.
Fucking hardy. A daily program powered by the Truth Network. This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind.
And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host.
Well, happy tax day in America. It's April the 15th, and we want to know how you feel as a believer in paying your taxes. When it comes to this great day, how do you feel? about your responsibility to be paying Taxes. We know that in the Bible Jesus had people asking him about paying taxes.
So, what's your thoughts? Today's show, 866-348-7884. We want your thoughts. On paying Our Fair share. What is there, fair share?
Paying taxes. And with me today is Robbie Dilmore. And Robbie, I pitch it to you as we think about Happy tax day! Yeah, really. I mean, April 15th, not a day a lot of people circle on their calendar with a big happy face.
So, you know, however. Um You know, I had a boss once tell me, and I love this: that you know, I was working in a store that we were taking over that had been in bad shape. And he said, Robbie, I used to have to pay so many taxes on this store, it really upset me. He said, boy, I long for the day when I'd have to pay taxes again. And so there is some sense, but if you're paying taxes and you have an income.
And it it some Way, right? I mean, it's a beautiful thing that God provides for us enough. That, in a way, we get to pay taxes that, in some ways, do marvelous things, right? When you think that some of the money. That you pay in taxes goes to teaching our kids some of the money that.
You pay in taxes, goes to the amazing road systems we have here in the United States. If you go overseas, you can certainly know what I'm talking about.
Now some of the money goes to Feed the hungry. And there's a lot of amazing things. And actually, clearly, some of it's going to defending our country and keeping our service people safe right this very minute. And the honor. To actually take part in paying for all that is in its own way really a cool thing, right, Don?
Absolutely.
So there is a purpose behind our government needing certain income from us. Um we have Alex. We have Alex from Sporzberg. Alex, welcome to Trip Talk Live. What do you think?
All right.
So there was a situation where Someone asked Peter if Christ pays taxes, and he told them that he does.
So when when he told Jesus that that he told the tax collectors that he actually pays taxes, Jesus asked him an interesting question. He said, Peter. Do the leaders of this world tax their children? or strangers. And Peter says, Oh, strangers, And Jesus says, Then the children are free.
So, what he was saying is that if the children of God Could be free. He's saying then the children are free. If the world leaders are hypocritical enough not to tax their own children, you guys are the children of God. And if you can avoid paying these hypocrites. Do so.
to the best ability that you can. because you guys are children of the King of Kings. And the children are free. But then he says, So that they are not offended, you know, go cast a line into the water. Out of fish, and he took the coins out of the fish.
And he also stated about himself: he said, Then the children are free, he is the Son of God that came to earth. And he stated explained to Peter, I'm free from having to pay these people taxes. And you also being children are free if you can be.
So, this is coming from Matthew 17, verse 25 and 26. I have it marked down. It's one of the verses to talk about because that's a great question. Because when Jesus, when Peter was asked that, he quickly said, Oh, yeah, we do. And then, hey, Jesus, we're going to need to pay some taxes.
And he's like, Hold on a moment. But then He did pay, as you said. And whenever we're in Israel at the Sea of Galilee, we eat what's called St. Peter's fish. But every time I've looked, there was no coin in St.
Peter's fish that I got. Robbie, what's your thinking here? Yeah, I ate the same place, Doc, and I and they taxed us, I think. Yeah, well it It's really a fascinating study, right? That You know, we need to be good stewards of our money.
Um And try to figure out, you know, how... All these things we're going to get paid for, you know, is we vote for people to represent us and all these different things. You know, what is our responsibility in that? And that's a great question. And I would put that back to you, Alex.
I mean, how do you personally feel about paying taxes?
Well, I pay them every year. I run my own business, and I just paid them three days ago. There's no way I can really escape it myself. You know what I mean? But if I was able to somehow pay less and do what I can to pay less, I would take advantage of that opportunity.
You know, so. Um, yeah, yeah, we we do have to pay, but you know, taxes Generally, like my dad my grandmother, she was like she was bragging to my dad. She's like, I don't take advantage of all the um pension opportunities and and and government benefits that I have that uh that I can. I only use what I need. And so my dad, my dad is like he explains to her, he's like, You see, he's like, when people pay taxes, it's split into three sections.
One pays for like police, firemen, and government employees. The second one pays for pension and and um Welfare, you know, and the third one pays for building rockets and blowing stuff up.
So he's like, You rejected your pension. He's like, They built the rocket, they wrote hello from grandma on it, and they. Sent it out. Oh, man, that made my day right there. That's one way of explaining it.
Wow.
So, Alex, and to all of our listeners, again, we want your thoughts: 866-348-7884. How do you feel about paying taxes? Is it un-American to Sink. to pay the least amount that you have to pay. Because some politicians right now are trying to make people who don't want to pay Taxes Or pay all the taxes that they think they should pay are un-American.
What do you think of that?
Well, are you asking me? Yeah. Oh, I did. I thought the question was to the general public. I was thinking about another thought.
Sorry I kinda m missed that one.
Well the the thing is is like Um, w wi with paying taxes, I pay taxes and like when taxes go back to the people, it benefits society. For example, like welfare actually benefits the economy because the money go like so like um people that get welfare, they'll go buy new sneakers. people that get welfare. I've had customers in construction that bought windows from my construction company for us to install windows that collected enough money on welfare to be able to do that. When the money goes back to the people, that's great.
But if we're fighting for oil or Or you know like When when Jesus Christ told He told Peter, he who lives by the sword dies by the sword. What I believe that meant is he's saying that if you live by the sword, you will be condemned by the two edged sword that came out of the mouth of God in the book of Revelation.
So if you live by the sword, you will be condemned by the word of God, which is Jesus Christ, and he is the sword, the two-edged sword that came out of the mouth of God.
So, like, I don't believe that all wars that are tax-funded are legitimate wars.
Sometimes we're fighting for the interests of oil. Corporations, sometimes we're fighting for the interests of pharmaceutical corporations.
So, so, you know, like, like, it it it it's there's yeah, um, I I believe that. Like as Christians, I shouldn't kill or fund anything that kills And like I came from Russia. We came from Russia in 1988. Alex, I would go to a break. Can I keep you on?
And we've got Jamal we want to go to. This is Truth Talk Live. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Happy Tac Day. We're looking at biblical truth.
On what the Bible has to say about paying taxes. How do you Feel about paying taxes. We've got Alex on the phone right now on the line. And Alex, just wrapping up with you, the thought and and we were we came as Christian refugees in 1988. In in Russia, the Christian community refused to fight wars or bear arms.
because they said it's against the will of Christ for us to kill, and many served prison sentences and even got executed for refusing to fight wars. Um So it it like taxes can or they they can fund abortion clinics. Um, back in the day when Jesus lived, Taxes paid the military and Caesar.
Now they pay private organizations like abortion clinics and Planned Parenthood. And it's kind of like. Um, like if you could pay less, I would probably pay less. And I'm gonna end it at that to give somebody else a chance to speak. You know, but if you can pay less and do what you can to pay less, go ahead and pay less.
Absolutely.
Alex, thanks for your call. Thanks for your insight today. Thank you, sir. We're going to go to Jamal. Welcome, Jamal, to Truth Talk Live.
What do you got for us today, sir?
Well, as usual, thank you for taking my call. And I'm so glad you guys are talking about a nice, easy, softball, warm and fuzzy topic today. I'm pretty sure you're not going to have any kind of controversy truck controversy. I'm pretty sure you're not going to have any problems talking about taxes today. It's one of those subjects that it never bothers us, does it?
Not at all, not in the least.
So, my take on it is. Yes, like your last caller said, It is good. And like you all said as well, it's good to have roads, military, police, Um and what not, certain government services.
However, With money. comes problems. and comes, unfortunately, corruption. And we are in, let's see, how many trillions is it? I think it was uh like thirty-seven, thirty-nine trillion dollar deficit.
Not million, not billion, trillion. I can't wrap my head around that, but I just looked it up before the show. Our nation is in debt at thirty nine trillion dollars. Thirty-nine trillion. Uh True talk live listeners.
You don't think that there might be some corruption, some fraud in that? We just had $9 billion uncovered in fraud in Minnesota.
Now they're saying there might be some other fraud in California. I know we had here in Forsyth County, we had a, for those that might remember, we had a $48 million deficit from the Forsyth County School Board.
Now, there was a report done. And they say, well, it wasn't anything fraudulent that was done. They said, well, that forty-eight million dollar deficit was gone through negligence. to mismanagement.
So that's another page to the story. It could be corruption. There can also be mismanagement. But this is not just mismanagement of government funds. This is just mismanagement of our funds because we.
fund the government.
So with that being said, well, we have to be held to account to pay the government I don't mind doing that. But where we have to be responsible for our money, The government needs to be responsible for how the government has to be responsible for how they spend our money. I can't. I tell you, I just so agree with you right there. We've got to have tight accountability because it is.
It's our money, and we want to see it being used correctly. I think Tax Day should stir us all up to be asking: how is our money being used? And we want to get your thoughts: 866-348-7884. A Robbie I Hate paying taxes. What kind of person am I?
Yeah. Uh Uh I would guess There's lots of ways to categorize that, Doc, but one way to categorize it'd be fairly normal. I mean, I can remember every one of my children when they got their first you know paycheck Like what happened? Like Half my money's gone. Where did it go?
Um You know, I don't remember a single one of them going. Oh man, am I glad that I get to take part in paying for these roads I'm driving? You know, it's a fascinating. a fascinating thing, but it At some level, you can't help but join into what Jamal is saying: it makes us a whole lot more responsible to go out there and vote, a whole lot more responsible to take part in the government to find out where that money and holding people accountable. Uh however You know, the law is the law, and so we got to render under Trump what is Trump's.
Wait a minute, Jamal, did you hear that? Uh, unfortunately, I did, Doctor. I don't think, I don't think that's what the Bible said. It said, render to Caesar what is Caesar's. I don't know where Robbie gets his stuff.
I think we caught Robbie a misquoting scripture. Uh, yeah, that was it. To my knowledge, there are no Trump bills, but Right, right. Hey, guys, I'm going to let somebody else talk and get on here. Always a blessing.
You guys stay strong. Take care, and God bless again. Thank you, sir. Happy tax day to you, Jamal. Uh we are talking about our biblical viewpoint when it comes to paying taxes.
And uh do we as a Christian have a responsibility to be an involved citizen To know how our taxes are being spent, um, there is a government store being opened in New York City, and I've been watching some things on the X feeds where you know, is it the government's responsibility to be opening government stores? Um, that to me should be a private thing. Uh, let there be Krogers and food line stores like that, and uh, then there's competition. Um But We do need store doc. Is that a federal store or a state store?
City store? City store there in New York City. And they had one in Kansas City, and even though they supposedly had lower prices, people were still going and they're stealing things. And that store has closed. I you know the I look at it from this component of as we pay taxes and just pitching this to you then robbie as we talk this through it again callers we want to know your thoughts now uh how do you feel about paying taxes 866-348-7884 um as the by as as the church is starting out there are certain needs that people have Uh h how do we help Needy.
People and widows was one of the biggest needs. They're like Naomi, they need some help. And Paul comes along and says, okay, we're going to help widows, but he puts some guidelines. And he says, we're going to qualify. People And so when when the government is giving out money to help people, there needs to be a certain kind of qualification for that.
You shouldn't just be able to sign up and just get money because there is no free money. Um Yeah, the beautiful biblical principle that I think you're illustrating, Doc, is. you know the idea of gleaning that that was set forth in the book of exodus that You know, people had to work. The food was available. You know, like Ruth went and gleaned from the fields, but she still had to work in order to get it.
Yes. With the way that she was capable. And again, the idea is that. And to give people the honor. Of taking part in what they're doing, not a hand out, but a hand up, so to speak.
And uh That that whole idea Um To some extent, it is the responsibility of the church and could be. Vault of his You know, part of the reason we're paying the taxes that we are is that church has failed to meet the needs of widows and orphans. And the elderly report. Yes, and I think we need to follow up on that. I'd love to hear some listeners' thoughts on that.
866-348-7884. Give us a call. We want to hear your thoughts. You're listening to The Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. How Good Christians Feel about paying taxes.
In preparation for this show, looking at some different articles as well as some things from the Bible. I read that Mm-hmm. Paying taxes is the duty of a citizen and Christians are called to be good citizens. Um As good citizens We've got to also be good stewards. And Robbie, you and I were talking that as Christians, we need to know, we should know that everything we have ultimately belongs to God.
So Part of paying taxes Is really trusting God with all of our finances because part of the finances is the tax bill. Yeah, and they're in last You know. A stroll. Right? You're like, man, how am I going to make it?
Under the circumstances of the way I'm trying to reach my budget with the gas prices going to $4 a gallon, because. Or 450, or you know, the prices of food. And some people really struggle week to week, month to month. And this is a burden on them. Um And and I See again this opportunity we have to vote, as I know for a lot of people.
The tax bill is a lot lighter this year. It sure is for me. Um And it makes it a lot simpler, you know, based on who we voted for and the people that are currently in office. Yeah. Again, listeners, we want you to give your thoughts on this.
It's a touchy subject, but love to hear your thoughts on taxes. 866-348-7884. When it comes to the Christian And pay in their bills. Um Sh I should be shopping around, I think. For a good deal when it comes to getting appliances.
But I'm not really able to shop around when it comes to getting good taxes. But maybe I am. Based on what you're saying, Robbie, we we if we if we're paying attention to who's running one of our questions for a candidate For me, it's always been Where do you stay in on inheritance tax? Where do you stand on property tax? Um Because when those tax assessments come out, and not only have they raised the value of your home, and you didn't realize all of a sudden you lived in a more expensive home, but then they come up with a higher assessment rate.
To tax you on the assessment that they just gave you. We just had a situation in Virginia where. All of a sudden it's like I I wasn't planning to have to pay this much money. and who decided to raise all this assessment. And I didn't want to be viewed as someone who was complaining, but I really became concerned.
You got any biblical counsel for me there, Robbie? Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Well Yeah. Again, it gets back to all things work together for good, Doc. Yeah. Yeah, you know, another thing that that that I thought was just pure genius on our president's part. are tariffs.
Right? When you really think through the tariff idea, You know, here is a tremendous income stream for this country that we have not had before. That you know, you talked about the the The national debt. And if we, you know, like all other, you know, when you go about trying to balance a budget, however that may look, you know, you're looking at sources of income and then you're cutting your expenses, right? And so You know, when all of a sudden you create this unbelievable source of income through tariffs, you know, I know the president took a great deal of flack on that.
Subject, and I realize it has all sorts of implications, but one of the beautiful implications from my standpoint is it helps bring down the national debt without raising taxes. I like that. I like that he doesn't have to raise taxes. And listening to some of the talk shows today, again, that's what kind of got this idea going. Maybe we should talk today about taxes is because As G just said, the tax bill is not as high.
Many people are getting a refund this in the next week or so because The tax bills are lower. I just one of my big things is I would just like to make sure that our government is being run very, very competent. We need people who understand how to manage money and to be frugal with it. Working at a school, working on a farm, all these areas. For me, if you didn't have the money, you can't just be going and spending it.
You had to manage it tightly and very carefully. Don't be wasteful with the money. And it just seems like there's some people in our government. Hey, I got the money, let's just go spend it. That's not, to me, being good stewards of God's money.
Robin, we've got. Mike from Ohio. Mike, I gotta believe you got a thought on paying taxes. Yeah, I do. I'm a self-employed businessman, and yeah, I pay plenty of them.
And And what's the bad part about paying taxes And I'm going to say this on air, it's easy to cheat.
So you know, I love it. You know, it's not. It really is. It's really easy to cheat. I mean, you just tell your tax man, just write off a little more on that end and that end over there.
And you're not saying you cheat. You're just saying it's easy to cheat. I want to make sure if an IRS agent is listening right now, Mike here is not saying he cheats. It's like in NASCAR. It's not that I'm cheating with my car.
I just know that the other guys in the garage, it's easy for them to cheat.
Well, it's easy to do the cheap. Uh I, you know, and and that's what takes integrity as a Christian not to cheat. It really does. And then that way. Um I noticed I ha you know I might have fetched the book here and there before, if somebody's listening, who hasn't.
You know, and it's questionable. You know, I mean, it's questionable right off, or questionable this, or questionable that. Your tax man saying, oh, it's okay. And you're going to him, and he's saying, oh, that's fine, do that, you know, and you're sitting there, and you have to sit there, almost literally, have to talk, think about your. your the Holy Spirit talking to you about what is right, what is wrong.
I mean, that that's how easy it is to cheat. I mean, it's really questionable on a lot of this. And um Anyways, the That is where a Christian really needs to sit there and think: okay, I'm paying my taxes. I'm not cheating.
Now, I'm going to go vote for a person that takes care of my money. You know what I mean? And that's what helps you to think about. To pay your fair share, you know what I mean? And also think about who you're voting for.
when you do pay your fair share. The thing is, when you're cheating, it's Yeah, there's fraud everywhere in the government. You know, I'm cheating too.
Well, how about how about not cheating? and pay your fair share and go vote for the right person. That's what I'm really thinking right now about this. Christians really need to buckle down, pay their fair share. The revenue comes in.
our congressmen see the revenue. The congressman says, hey, we can lower taxes.
Well, we're talking to millions of people, not just me. Millions of people pay their fair share, millions of dollars come in. millions of dollars is spent well with because we're voting on the right people. And then that's a you know, and that's the Christian I hate to use that word, but it is. It's the Christian way to be.
And we are a Christian nation. And that's why it's a little bit integrity when we vote, when we pay our taxes, you know. It's, you know, we have to have integrity when we do this.
So and keeping. a a person Honest. to live that, to be that of integrity. takes accountability. And I think there are some people in government that don't like the fact that they get questioned about their expense accounts.
And why they feel like it's okay to earmark. And that's one of the big issues when it comes to our government right now. These earmarks, it just seems like money just gets funneled to my best friend, and all of a sudden they're doing really well, but they're not producing anything for the community. And those are some of the uh things that are coming out with some of these fraud cases right now. We someone said it this way, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
And so there has to be some diligence in making sure that there is integrity with how, you know, whether it's in the household, whether it's with the church, whether it's with the government, our money, we're supposed to be found faithful stewards with it. 866-348-7884 is how do you feel about paying taxes? Go ahead, Robbie. I was just saying that, you know, I love Mike's point and that Underneath it is what we've talked about throughout the show is do you trust God? Right?
Do you trust him enough to say he's going to meet my need if I do this absolutely right. That I know that I'm paying exactly what I'm supposed to be paying. I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing under the law. And You know, to some extent, it gets right down there with traffic loss, right? Do I trust God to go to the speed limit, right?
I'll get to where I need to get to on time. That kind of thing. You know, I'm currently homebound. Um And it occurs to me that That that Had everybody obeyed the traffic laws that were present at the moment, you know, that my wife and I wouldn't be in the shape we're in. Um And how many times I didn't, right?
I'm not throwing a stone necessarily, is saying, gee, it reminds me that, man, I really need to trust God. with the laws of the land because You know, good things happen that way, and bad things can certainly happen if we don't. It sounds like you're quoting Romans 13, 7, render therefore to all their dues, taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs are custom, and then we'll be right back. You're listening to The Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live.
Today is April the 15th. It is tax day in America. And so we've been throwing out the idea, happy tax day. And I'm not sure you may be rejoicing with such a thought, but we are interested in your thoughts on paying taxes because it is a biblical principle. Romans 13, 7.
I was quoting that as we went to the break. Render therefore to all their due. Taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs are due, fear to whom fear is due. Robbie, I think that's speaking about driving the speed limit. And honor to whom honor is due.
In this component of honor To whom honor is due. You know, April the 15th is also another date that's a day that needs to be remembered because on April the 15th, 1947, something Absolutely incredible. Very, very, very, very significant took place in New York as on on On a baseball field Jackie Robinson was in the lineup. And he was playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. And that day, the word is, at that point, they call it a colored man.
A black man, an African American, was in the lineup and he crossed the color barrier. And today is Jackie Robinson Day. And if we were, if Rodney was here in the studio, he would be going, Doc, why you got that Dodger jersey on? And I would say, well, it's what's on the back. I've got the 42.
I've got Robinson, and I've had quite a few people today when they see the Dodger jersey, they don't immediately recognize why I'm wearing it until they see the back. And then there's that aha moment. That's right. Today is Jackie Robinson Day. And there may be a listener or two right now, and you have a thought about Jackie Robinson Day.
Maybe you are old enough to remember. I asked a few people today Wednesday in the word. Did they remember when Jackie Robinson played baseball for the first time for the Los Angeles Dodgers? And they said they did. And they knew this was a significant breakthrough for African Americans.
And it changed baseball. There's a movie, 42, because that's the number. And then, if you of Jackie Robinson, and then if you watch. The movie, there'll come a point when he's being harassed. I mean, he is just profanities being thrown at him.
One of his teammates goes over, puts his arm around him, And it makes a statement. Uh you know, Jackie, one day maybe they'll just look out here and uh and all they'll see is forty twos. And so 1997, and I'm telling this because Uh Robbie, I'm not sure if you know this story, but uh 1997. The Commissioner of Baseball made the decision to retire the number 42 that no team could wear 42. No team could have a 42 on it.
And then somebody said, Well, why don't we on April the 15th Every Every player. Where's the forty-two? And so if you watch any baseball game today, you will see players Everybody has the same number. And uh You know, Doc, it's fascinating you say that because I was sitting there. Actually, looking it up, you know, Jackie Robinson, and what I saw, I was sitting there watching as you were describing it.
These pictures of every single player on the team. Wearing that number Um you know, indicating that, wow. Oh. A lot has happened since 1947. Um and I I can certainly say in my 70 years the difference between the way things like that are accepted today.
Um versus You know, when I was... growing up are way way different and i think it's going to be even more amazing um over the next generations is is that certainly is a hurdle that's been crossed. but it took great great great courage And again, I'm Thinking that his teammates Had great courage as well, right? Because I mean, it wasn't just Jackie that was facing that, he wasn't facing it alone. Yes, and that movie brings that out.
And there was racism on the team, and then there were others who were like, this is the way it ought to be. And we've got to wake up, smell the coffee. This discrimination is wrong. We are not a country that's perfect, but we are a long ways from what we used to be. Last night, I had the opportunity to hear Irvin Magic Johnson speak at Wake Forest University.
And um He told about in the seventies Uh all of a sudden He Had he experienced, and he said this word: he said, I experienced bussing. And all of a sudden, I'm thinking, I wonder if anybody, how many people in this room know what he's talking about? And in the early 70s, schools had to be integrated. You had your white school, you had a black school.
Well, here's... Magic Johnson going to a black school, but now he's got to go to a white school, and white students from that white school had to come to the black school. And the line, he said, it was right where I was at, and I had to start riding a bus. I could walk to my school, but now I had to ride a bus. And he told about that, and it brought back memories for me because I went through that in the third grade, and now no one even thinks about it.
And I was almost one, could I do a quick poll and find how many people knew what he was talking about? We've come a long ways, and again, today is a reminder that there are some things that we were not doing right as a nation. And now we celebrate a man who was willing. If you watch the movie 42, As the Dodger owner Branch Ricky is saying, I'm going to do this. Uh Jackie.
This isn't going to be easy. And I've got to have you on board that this is what you want as well, and that you're willing to put up with the foolishness, the stupidity. I'm going to call it Robbie the sinfulness of people, but he stepped out there and. He was a great, great American, and he broke a barrier. And today, you see.
People from All different colors play in baseball, and it's for me. I love baseball, I think it's one of the great unifiers. Your thoughts, Robbie, on Jackie Robinson Day? Again, I I love your gift. I love working with you as...
Uh, you bring out these dates, and it kind of we live the Bible, right? Yeah, that. Every day was a significant day in biblical history. It's a significant day in God's word. And it's a beautiful thing that he has been telling a story of reconciliation And of loving your neighbor.
And if there's a biblical concept, right, that came to life. Uh, through that number 42, it certainly did. Like you said, through this. illustration of Jackie Robinson. And you know it challenges me really um To see where there are hidden things like that down in my heart that really I can ask God to work on.
That would expose anything like that. I love that. Psalm, which I know you do too well, right? That search me, oh God, and know my heart, right? See if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in a way everlasting because.
You know, it's too easy for that kind of stuff to be hiding down in there. Yeah. And it needs to get out of there. And I think having what the Major League Baseball has done by having Jackie Robinson Day, everybody wears 42, it's a great way to teach history as well as the importance of for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. It does not say for God so loved whites only or blacks only or Hispanics only.
It says for God so loved the world. And when I was head of school at Salem Baptist Christian School, we did Jackie Robertson Day.
So each year on the 15th of April, I challenged them to wear their baseball jerseys, wear 42, and we would serve hot dogs and hamburgers and french fries at the cafeteria, especially the hot dogs, because that's what you think about. And we had Cracker Jacks and take me out to the school room, take me out of the school room so I could have.
some cracker jacks we had ice cream in the in in baseball helmets uh just to celebrate the component that here's a great american who crossed the line with the help of owner organization. and changed the face of a nation. And Branch Rickey in the movie will talk about he was doing this because he knew he was supposed to treat all men equally. Because he was a Christian. And I loved that.
I was like, wow, I didn't know that was one of his purposes behind what he was doing.
So this is uh Happy Tax Day, but it's also happy Jackie Robinson Day. Yeah, and it's really amazing that we can all look out and see all those 42s. And every baseball game that's played out there today, it's beautiful. Yeah, absolutely not. I'm glad again that you bring these things to light for us to constantly, you know.
to think about because it is all those things. And uh Alright, there you go. Again, I would The highlight of Date the Word is just one of the highlights of my life to continue to. See what you bring out.
Well, today is Hebrews 4:15. We have a high priest who can be touched with their infirmities and he has sympathy. And so, if you have a need today, call on the great high priest. Go boldly before God. Thanks for tossing that toward me, Robbie.
And thanks, listeners, for listening. Have a great day. Um
