This is the Truth Network. Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk. The truth is, I can't hide it, I can't hold it. A daily program powered by the Truth Network.
This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. Welcome to Truth Talk Live.
I'm Dwayne Carson, a founder and director of Date the Word Ministries. My joy to host, along with Robbie Dillmore, who is still recovering. Robbie is at his home. And Robbie, welcome to the show. Today, April the 13th.
Is Philippians 4.13? I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.
However, Robbie. Over the weekend, I don't know what you were doing, but one of the things I like to do is read interesting facts. And today, Robbie, our show is going to be based on an interesting fact. April the eleventh. nineteen fifty four.
Listeners, do I have your attention? April the 11th. nineteen fifty four. Two. Yeah, that was right that came right right after April 10th.
And before the 12th. Yes. And right now, our listeners are going April the 11th, 1954. It's not a day that lives in infamy. It's not a.
It's not a day that I remember anything happening. And you know why? Because nothing happened. It is considered the most boring day of the 20th century.
Now Robbie, first off...
Okay. As I saw that, I thought, who had the time to try to determine what was the most boring day of the twentieth century? But people have all kind of times. They put in three million facts and then asked some computer to to analyze it, and they came up with April the eleventh. as the most boring day of the twentieth century.
And I got to thinking, Well, if you'd have been around, Robbie, and if I'd have been around, it wouldn't have been a boring day. Because you and I have decided to banish boredom. And um And today, for our listeners, we want to talk about how do you banish boredom. 1-866-3666. 348-7884.
How do you get rid of bore? Because as Christians, how can you have a boring life? What do you think, Ravi? I I love this topic 'cause, you know, it it You don't have to be around many young people. You know, I am so bored.
It's so boring. You know, what, you know, they're, they're looking. For something to fill the time. Et cetera, et cetera. And so it's such a great topic.
Like, what is it that you do to beat the boredom? What do you do to beat the boredom? That's the question, isn't it? And and If you think about how risky God really is, he loves a good. risk, a l a good challenge.
And so he challenged Every Bible character you can possibly think of. To go on some great adventure. And so I. We teach on this a lot, the masculine journey, that the way to beat boredom is adventure. Especially adventures with God, right?
Yes. And yes. He took David on great adventures. He took, you talk about somebody who won on it. Do you think when Paul was reviewing his life?
Shipwrecked. You know, snake bit, whatever you want to call it. And and you were a little snake bit today, Doc. No, thankfully we were not. But we had to deal with a couple snakes.
They've come out of hibernation and they're hunting birds. And we've got some. Yeah, we had a little fun today watching a couple of snakes. Yeah, it beats boredom. But the fascinating thing is, you know, and I would love to hear the listeners.
You know, how did they beat boredom? 866-348. 7884-866-348-7884. And I know. Doc, you may have a Bible verse or two as long as you're going to.
Oh, I mean, I get up every morning with Psalms 118:24. This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. Um I don't know where I heard this. But I I love this illustration.
Uh a teacher said, uh, today. Is the present. Yesterday is the past, tomorrow is the future. Today is the present. And a little boy raised his hand and said, Teacher, I'm sorry, but my Sunday school teacher didn't say it the way you said it.
She said, Today. is a present. Today is a present. And that's the way to look. God has given us a gift.
Today is a gift from God. Um So especially if you're in his presence. While you're enjoying your present, that's it. That's it. Oh, and I put it that way.
I bet you right now there's somebody having a lot of fun. There's nothing boring with them. Stu, Sam, and Luca, right now they're driving down 85 listening to the show on 88.3 FM and Gaffney. And Robbie, do you think there is anything going on in that car that is boring? Ha ha ha ha.
Well, I know it's going to be peachy. If it's in Gaffney, they're going to be... And I also know, Stu. I would not be one bit surprised that those people at the studio tomorrow don't all have a peach because he loves to stop in all those stores and get a peach. You know what I'm talking about?
Oh, yes, yes. Nothing like a Georgia peach bought in South Carolina. Hey, hey, we've got a caller here. Um This one's an interesting one. It sounds what I'm reading here says, are you ready for this, Robbie?
My wife. I wonder what my wife has to say. Welcome to the show, my wife. Hi, dear. Hello, Robbie.
I hope you are doing well. I am. I am excited to hear your voice. And I have a sneaking suspicion this might have something to do with a certain executive decision I heard about earlier today.
Well, I haven't had a boring day Since june the fourth, nineteen eighty eight. Woo! I know that date. That's our anniversary date. It is never a boring day when Dwayne Carson is in your life.
I'll bet that's true. And today He comes in the house and he says, honey. As the head of household, I have made an executive decision. I said, okay, what is that? And he said, I saw a snake and I didn't kill it.
Which is a miracle. Which is I'm like, you didn't kill a snake. Doing hate snakes. Hate hate hate is a small word. And I'm like, okay.
He said, well, it was a black snake. And they're good to have around. All right, I'll trust your judgment. He said, it went into the woods. It's okay.
Well Uh two hours later I had a delivery person come by and drop something off. She's sitting in my driveway, she calls me. And she says, Donita. Are you home? I said, Yeah, we are.
She goes, I just. dropped off your order But I wanted to let you know There's a black snake curled up under the ramp at the base of your steps. Yeah. Ha ha ha ha ha.
So I went and found my husband and said, your executive decisions failed. And I'm glad I hear music. That means we're going to go to a break because I don't like talking about my failures. Good point, fuck. Hmm.
The good news is it was another black snake. It wasn't the same one.
Well, I guarantee you, most snakes feel like it wasn't a failure.
Well, hey, we're going to go to a break. We want to hit your calls on how do you banish boredom? Welcome back to Truth Talk Live. I'm Dwayne Carson and today we're talking about how to beat boredom. I read an interesting article about how April the 11th, 1954, was considered the most boring day in all of The 20th century.
And I got to thinking about that and talked with Robbie and Kicking around this idea as Christians, there ought not be a day that we are bored. We ought to be embracing the passion of every moment. Life is filled with opportunity. And we've got Stu Epperson on the phone. Wow Welcome, Screw.
Talk to us. How are you beating boredom? I was just driving down the road, just kind of bored as all get out. I just heard this radio show. I thought I'd call in.
Take my mind off the The concrete parking lot here, you know. Oh, it's a great topic. I've got a couple of young men with me who are visiting the Christian College. Having a great morning, having a great day. I just was thinking about your topic.
John Piper said something. A book that every young person should get for graduation.
So, guys, you got one coming, okay? It's called Don't Waste Your Life. That's it. That's it. In that book, he says, he says, look, he says there's a certain thing called a wartime mentality.
And he said, when Christians realize, he says, when the world wars came on us. The whole country. The guy that worked down at the plant in America. Building a plant that made munitions, suddenly he had purpose. He had pep in his step because he knew.
that the stuff he was building was giving our our our warriors in the middle of, you know, the war, World War two, it was giving them weapons. you know, the the ladies that were sewing and working in the in the manufacturing, men and women in manufacturing, they were they got they got fired up because we're in war and the count the country coalesced Because we had these enemies that were trying to destroy freedom and modern civilization. And as believers, man, I think a lot of times boredom is a result Of forgetting that we're at war and we wrestle not against flesh and blood.
So there's a. There's a very real sense, you know, that even if you think about this, there's an enemy. trying to destroy every one of us. Peter talks about him in 1 Peter 5. You know, eight, he says, be sober.
Be vigilant for your adversary, the devil. He is roaming around, prowling about like a roaring lion. seeking whom he may devour.
So if you were a If you are a a uh an antelope And you're somewhere in Africa where there's a bunch of lions, I guarantee you. You don't have a lot of boredom. You don't have a lot of boring moments because you're going to be someone's meal the moment that happens. You're always on alert. And um You know, Stu.
I'm going to build off of that and just say that in this battle, we're battling for souls. And I got to tell you, one of the most exciting things about the Christian life is being able to be a witness for the Lord. Because you just never know how that's going to turn out. Um And there's nothing more exciting than seeing a newborn, a newborn baby. a newborn believer.
And you know, I'm just to our listeners, Stu Epperson, president of Truth Network. This is his show, Truth Talk Live. He is a soul-winning machine. And he just he not only tells people about Jesus. He tells others to tell people about Jesus.
And witnessing is something that just keeps the blood flowing. What do you think of that, mister Epperson?
Well, your words are very kind, and it makes me want to give a shout out to Ricky. And to I just met a young man named Nathan. They're all turning on eighty eight point three in Spartanburg. And in Gaffney, And in Boiling Springs, and then Ricky's listing in Greenville. We just met him.
at a gas station. He said he didn't know about the station, ninety six point nine FM. It just reminds me that, you know, someone else said it, one of our Truth Network pastors said it, I believe. He said, look.
So often Christians think he says there's two kinds of ships. He said, There's a cruise ship and a battleship. He said, The Christian life is not a cruise ship.
Sometimes we have this. This catering mentality and everything's catered to me. Yeah. On our way to heaven, and we just kind of are cruising and enjoying the buffet, and we forget that we're really a battleship and that we're at war. And that the souls of those around us are bound either to heaven or hell, and we may be the only one standing in the gap, inviting them.
And it is a glorious pleasure of knowing Christ. And so it's really, your show is really a wake-up call. It's convicting because. You know, time Paul says in Ephesians 5: Redeem the time. Redeem the time, yes.
For the days are evil. And man, we have a lot to, we've got to go to battle. We've got to recognize that. That people are in the snare of the devil, 2 Timothy chapter 2, and God's called us to call them. to Jesus And thank God someone didn't get bored with me.
Thank God someone didn't give up on me. When I was kind of wasting my life away, and they invited me and shared Jesus with me and told me about my sin and told me about the penalty. and about the forgiveness that I have in Christ. And now We are ambassadors. And it's wartime.
And the war is on. And so so we know who wins. We read the back of the book, right? We know that. But in the meantime, we're in the battle.
So you guys keep sounding. The war cry, we just, I sure appreciate this show. It's so encouraging. The young men in the car, guys, let's make some noises. Come on, make some noise.
Yeah, Luke with me. I took him down to Christian college to visit. And it's Bob Jones University. They had about how many people did you have praying for you, Sam? Uh, like nine or ten.
There's a lot of people. There you go. These guys have had prayer on them. They heard a powerful chapel message. There's a lot of great Christian colleges.
This was just one that. They had some interest in, and we've got the Christian radio station down there.
So Anyway, so but it reminds you that hey, onward Christian soldier marching on to war. What a blessing you guys are. Thanks for removing the boredom. All the boredom is now gone from this long cube down 85. It is no longer the 85 boredom zone.
This is this is encouragement. That's why we have the Truth Network. Hopefully, it can encourage and bless.
somebody out there who needs to hear God's word because God's word Is not a spoon. God's word is a sword. It cuts. And it pierces and it changes you. And that's why we try to lift up God's word and Talk shows like this and great messages like this.
And that's why I love Date the Word. That's what I start my day with every day, Dr. Carson, man. You're hitting home runs. Out of the park, man.
We appreciate you. And, Robbie, we're praying for you, buddy. It's just good to hear your voice. Same here.
Now encouraging. I love it. You are on a mission from God down there. Uh oh. And I hear that mission from God.
And you know what that makes me think of? The Blues Brothers. That's right. Stu, man, your car has become the Blues Mobile.
Well, y'all on a mission from God.
Well, it's amazing. You know, it's an interesting thing. Let me just throw this one more thing out. And I don't want to hold court here, but. Yeah.
Almost Well, not almost all, but some.
So many of Christ, I heard the statistics, I can't remember it. But a huge amount. Of Christ's miracles. Teaching moments and just supernatural interventions came. When he was on his way.
You think about the moments that you're most bored with. Like, you're just on your way somewhere. I'm walking to get the paper, I'm walking. Just kind of walking to get here. I'm on my way there.
You know, I got to get to the beach or I got to get to my destination.
Well, Jesus was on his way. And a lady grabbed the hem of his garment. It transformed her life forever. And it showed that Jesus Christ can save those Who? the west the West World says are hopeless and unclean.
You know, on his way, you know, it says in Ruth 2, verse 3, that Ruth just happened to go into the field of Boaz, and supernatural things happened. The lineage of the Messiah was established through a covenant marriage between a Gentile, unclean Moabite woman and a godly Jew. And God has a way of doing things.
So, in those times, just kind of like open your eyes, say, Lord, just kind of open my eyes. You know, it seems like I'm bored, and the enemy's kind of lulling me to sleep, but help me to wake up and see. That there are souls that need love.
Someone just needs me to say, How can I pray for you? How are you doing? Hey, our manager in Charlotte.
So, how do you banish boredom? 1-866-348-7884. We need your calls right after this break. This is Truth Talk Live. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live today, April the 13th, 4:13, and uh Acts 4, 13.
This is a day that was not boring. The apostles are out there and they're preaching, and it says, And when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. and they realized they had been with Jesus. Robbie. What beats boredom.
Being in the presence of the Lord. I think you said that earlier. Yeah, the The present is a presence. We only could sense it, you know. I think that boredom.
To some extent, is a disconnection. From being aware of what God's doing at any given moment. And when I really think about what it said, and I'll. April 11th, 1954. You know, because people couldn't see what God did that day.
Um You know, clearly from my perspective, since I was born the next year. God was working on Robbie. That's right. That's right. Talk about something less than boring.
But um You know, it really is, as Stu said, it's very convicting. The think. Like, man. If I'm starting to feel bored, if I'm starting to feel like, man, there ain't nothing going on. Then then clearly I I am not connected.
To either my purpose is to describe, as you described, either my purpose or my witness. Because, you know, part of being a witness is you got to see something. See something and then tell something. That's right. It's a beautiful thing.
And I likes to love this topic. I think that. you know, a great deal of the enjoyment. You know what I I I have a ministry to nursing homes and I've had it for years and years. And you go in there and unfortunately You can see some people.
That looks like they're fairly bored. I'm telling you, you know, that they've been sitting there working on whatever for whatever period of time. Yeah. And then there was Miss Beck. Doc, she was 104 years old.
And When she entered the room, she immediately sat down at the piano, began banging out the most wonderful praise song you ever heard in your life. At 104 now, she didn't come in on a walker. And just Just on fire for God every minute I ever met the woman. I can imagine no one ever telling me that Ms. Beck was boring.
And because she was enjoying that presence. This is the day the Lord has made. And shm she came into that room rejoicing. And and that brought joy to other people. Um Hey, we need some callers, 866-348-7884.
And uh, we want to hear how how do you beat boredom? And, um, Yeah. Here are people that are in the nursing home. They're beating boredom. We got singles.
We got Grayson right here in the studio today. He's our producer. And we were talking before the show, Robbie. You know, he has to make a choice as a single. And I don't, Grayson, you're here.
How do you beat boredom? How do I beat boredom? I try to uh just enjoy like art projects and stuff like that. I work on a lot of art projects, painting, sculpting, stuff like that.
So.
Well, there you go. That that creative juice is flowing. I like to think so. Like that. 866-348-7884.
We want to hear your. How do you beat boredom? How do you keep. things going. I'm going to answer my own question for a second, Robbie.
I live by a principle every week. Every week, I have to. at some point answer the question wins the last time. You did something for the first time. When's the last time you did something for the first time?
And that could be: all right, once a year, we're going to do something that we've never done before. For me, it has to be every week. I'm going to have some answer when I inventory my week that I am able to say, I did something I've never, ever, ever done before. Yesterday, I went to see Savannah Banana Ball at UNC Chapel Hill, and that's the craziest thing. I'm telling you, it's just flat out crazy.
I loved how they prayed together. They were so energized with the fans, engaged with the fans. Just never done it. Robbie, have you been to a banana ball baseball game? No, no, and I you were describing it to me earlier.
And, like you said, it's a whole different set of rules. Yep. But again, it gets back to the point that you're experiencing something that you know that. Right. Yep.
And I did it with my daughter Katie. And so together we spent a Sunday together, and it was just a blast.
Well, in my own way, I've been experiencing something I've never experienced before. I've had the experience of. Wearing a cervical collar for the last two weeks. And let me just say that it's. It's one thing to wear one of these things for a day.
It's another thing. To wear one for a week, but it's a completely different thing to have worn one now for two weeks.
So it's like every day is a new experience in its own way, dog.
Well, we've got to keep lifting you up because that it is challenging, but it's bring, it is bringing about the healing. Um Yeah, because I haven't had any of the tingling numbness in my hands. You know, I know what the trade-off is if I don't wear it. Yeah. I gotta let it see.
It is an it is an experience that you that builds compassion, right? Yes. You know, you've seen people that have been hurting this stuff before. In fact, You know, when I was in the hospital, I saw some people that were just way, way, way worse than me in the x-ray room and that kind of stuff. And it does.
It gives you great compassion. And I suppose you've got compassion for a banana ballist. Yeah. I have a connection, that's for sure. And one young lady said to her parents there yesterday.
This is more exciting than going to a Super Bowl game. And I thought, really? I haven't been to a Super Bowl game, but I'm not sure this is more exciting. But she was thrilled out of her mind to be there to see these players and just the crazy antics they do. It's unlike anything like the Globe, kind of like, I'll get this out in a moment here.
It's kind of like the Globetrotters, but it's baseball. And um And they do some shenanigans. That would be a word for it. Robbie, I want to get your take on Ecclesiastes 9.8. I know you've studied Ecclesiastes, studied Hebrews.
It says, Let your garments always be white, and let your head lack no oil. And that to me is a go-to verse for defeating boredom. How to beat boredom. And. As we get your take, we're going to be bringing on Mike from Ohio.
Oh, that's wonderful. Wonderful.
Well. You know, that idea of oil is also that idea, the idea of anointing. And similar to what Grayson was talking about, what I've heard mentioned several times. when you begin to understand your purpose you're anointed god gave you an anointing for certain things like he clearly gave you uh uh an anointing date the word and i mean that in a in a beautiful sense and that you you have a gift in order to connect. the dots between dates and Bible scripture and what makes it relevant.
And so, when you think about being able to work within your anointing, as Miss Beck was anointed to play the piano, she just was. And so it completely, from my perspective, It is a Like, there's nothing like feeling God's pleasure when you what. And when you're feeling God's pleasure, believe me, the last thing in the world you're feeling. is bored like right eric little when he ran in the olympics yes he felt god's pleasure Well, in your anointing, when you feel God's pleasure, when you're doing whatever that is. Then oh my goodness, that's the furthest thing from boring I can possibly imagine.
Now, you you mentioned Eric Little. Um yesterday banana ball Chariots of Fire was played. Yes, it was. During the baby's crawl. And I'm telling you, we were waiting for those babies to crawl.
They were crying, but finally one of them, as he heard the chariots of fire song, started crawling. And we had a winner. And oh my, the place went crazy. The crowd went wild. The crowd went wild.
Mike from Ohio, welcome to Truth Talk Live today. We are definitely doing our best not to have a boring show.
So bring some things to us.
Okay. Um sometimes people always want like a a big bang in their lives every day. And um Just the little things really matter. Be in sensitive to you know God's spirit for sh for one Um, I just got done painting. I'm I've been painting while I'm listening to you.
I'm painting a room for my father-in-law. He's going to be eighty-seven. He's going to move into with us. And I said, well, I need to take a break, and I'll call Tootalk Live. And so, um, That's a blessing for my father-in-law.
It's a little thing, you know, but he's going to have a nice, fresh room. It's going to have a nice, you know, I clean the windows, I'm doing all this extra work, you know. Um, you know, it it's Those little things matter, and those little things for someone. You know, like uh Robbie cooking cooking the dinners at uh at the boot camp. Oh my.
He went, he did it wholeheartedly to God. And the dinners are just awesome. And he was worried about how much coffee was in the coffee maker.
So then, you know, so it wasn't too strong or not too weak. And I thought that was funny. But again, again, I believe that he was trying to do things wholeheartedly for God. And just being, you know, doing every day, doing it wholeheartedly for God. And And that's kind of how I kind of live my life sometimes.
Not always, I'm not perfect, but I want to. I get up in the morning, like Doctor Carson says, and Hey God, I'm going to start my day, and I want you to be with me, and I want to do everything wholeheartedly for you. Colossians 3.23, whatsoever you do, do it heartily as unto the Lord, not as unto men. And that that does, it drives a passion. Life can't be boring when you've got enthusiasm.
This is Truth Talk Live. We're going to go to a break. We want to hear from other listeners: 866-348-7884. Give us a call. Welcome back to Truth Talk Live.
I'm Dwayne Carson along with Robbie Dillmore and we're doing our best today. The banish or beat back boredom. The Christian life cannot be a boring life. Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly. Robbie, your thinking on how in the world can our listeners Beat back.
Boredom. Prayer Okay. You know, that's um for me. I I I you know, clearly start my day with that. And when I start to feel.
That sense that I'm, you know, not understanding my purpose, understanding what I'm supposed to be doing right this minute, or whatever that is. Man, just go to the Lord in prayer. And then, guess what? You're in his presence and. That's the present, right?
That's the present. I believe God's greatest promise to us is that He will always be with us. And I do. I love that verse in Acts chapter 4 where it says that they recognized that the apostles had been with Jesus. Um there's just something about when you are on that journey, that adventure, Um John Eldritch.
Tell me about that name. Tell me some things. He... taught, Robbie. I think you use this at some of your uh conferences, your camps.
Yeah, he he wrote a book called Wild at Heart. And while at heart he Um Talks about the core desires of a man's heart and the fact that we're made in God's image. Yeah, because We're made in his image. We have the desires we have because he has those desires. And one of those desires, one of the core ones, is an adventure to live.
And an adventure definitely beats boredom. And as we talk about, he took all the you know, when you think about all the different Okay. Characters in the Bible. I don't care which one you pick. Mary, I'm like, man, talk about an adventure.
She went on an adventure that was unbelievable. But it's fascinating if you do a search, and I've done this. in a King James Version, a new King James Version for the word adventure. You're not gonna find it. In the way that you normally would find a word.
But when I did a deep word study to try to understand what it was that the Bible used to relate that idea. It really is a word testing. That when you go on an adventure, it tests you. from a standpoint, first of all, in your faith. Right?
And I think a big reason why God loves to take us on adventures is you got to step out of your comfort zone. And I'm talking about the kind of, you know, like you were talking about, when you're witnessing the people. When you're discipling people, all those places where you may be stepping out of your comfort zone, it requires faith. to take those next steps. And when you're out there on that ledge, it's not boring.
Yeah. Right? I mean that that idea of Um It gives us this sense of God is with us. And it also gives us a sense of that we have what it takes to do what God. has called us to do.
Hebrews eleven is uh The hall of faith Chapter We know about the Hall of Fame. I love going to the NFL Hall of Fame. I love going to the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, going to different colleges, to their different hall of fames, to hear those stories.
Well, if I want to know about great adventures, you go to Hebrews 11. And like for me, Abraham, he went out not knowing where he was going. He had no idea except that God had said go. And then he he just started on a journey. And they didn't have GPS back then.
Nope. They didn't have cell phones. Can you even imagine? I mean, in the world that Abraham was in, there were dinosaurs, you name it. Um And he takes off.
For places unknown. I mean, it. In today's world, it's hard to get even a sense of what it was he was facing. Yeah. Well, we just had some astronauts get back And uh um and this is a national show, but um I I I was very intrigued the fact that a that the lady that was on this um On this trip, she is a graduate of North Carolina State, and now that I live in North Carolina, I kind of felt a little pride there.
I'm like, wow. She has gone further than any woman has ever gone before. To me, that's just amazing. And then you think about, you know, I keep up with dates, Robbie. I know that surprises you, probably not a listeners, but today being April 13th in history, today in 1970 is when the first time we ever heard those words, Houston, we have a problem.
Because Apollo 13 had had an explosion. It didn't blow the whole thing up, but it blew up the oxygen tank. And all of a sudden, they're crying out, Houston, we have a problem. And you know, when you're on some kind of adventure like that, you're on an adventure with God, you should expect there are going to be trials. God wants to show how great He is.
And Job was on a great adventure with God, and all of a sudden he had the most incredible trial you'll ever see. But at the end, God had shown him so much more about him that Job now doesn't talk about what he had before the trial, he talks about what he had after the trial. That's a great adventure, Robbie. It is. And again, when you think about the story of Job.
the payoff to all those adventures for him. As he said, you know, I've spoken of God. But I've never spoken with God. Then And that's all the difference in the world. And so I even think of some of the listeners listening today that may battle with.
boredom from time to time and and That question's pretty penetrating. Have you ever spoken? with God. Right? Hmm.
Do you live a life? We'll go back to the Acts 4:13. that it's so clear That you have been with Jesus. You've spoken with God, He's spoken to you. And um That's that's the kind of adventure That John Eldritch was talking about.
Stu was talking about that component of we're in a battle, we're warriors. John Eldridge spoke about that as well. Did he not, Robbie, about a fight to fight? Yeah, in fact, the very first core desire is a battle to fight. Because the Lord is a warrior and it's one of his names.
But like you say, those battles, and I love the illustration that you made. about the battleship versus a cruise ship. Because clearly if we saw the battle that was at foot, in any given moment um For our testimony. you know for our loved ones You know, clearly, you know, two weeks ago today. Yes.
I got to see. you know, love and action from my family come and running. I mean from all different angles and just really stepping into the gap and in the prayer era and just being there for us. And uh You know, love, when you really think about it, Doc. Love.
Is a great boredom beater. Yeah. I love that because I make the statement: the time a person needs love the most is when they deserve it the least. It's easy to love lovable people, but now you're taking that risk again. That's that's all right.
I'm gonna show them love, even though they haven't shown me love, even though they haven't done that which is lovable. And then you see what kind of response you get. Yeah, I'll add it. That's the beauty of grace, is that when you when people experience it and And you realize, or I realize, that man, that's... That's the stuff of Jesus.
I mean, Jesus. Full of grace and truth. And again, getting back to that presence that is so remarkable like man. Um But I have discovered this, and I know you have too. The best way to get in trouble in any organization.
is to do something. Yeah. Yeah. If you want to get in trouble, just do something. It causes all sorts of commotion.
And it'll cause a lack of boredom in your whole organization, and everybody's gonna be pointing the finger at you because you went and did it.
Well You know, that's the... That's that's the beauty of initiative, right? That that it is as you begin to Uh create like God know gave us to create then it it it pushes other people out of their comfort zone And at first it's a little annoying. People don't like change, right? It could be that some people do want to have a boring life.
I don't, and I don't think the Bible teaches that we should have a boring life.
So, that component of the great football coach at Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Steelers, Chuck Noel, he always said. Make something happen. And so when you get up in the morning, today is the day, as we've already talked about, to rejoice in, but also to redeem this day. Make something happen. And as you're doing something, yeah, it'll push people out of their comfort zone.
Yeah, and you think about the parable of the talents, which is a great understanding of risk, right? That this guy who would not risk and it takes faith to risk. And God is a risky God. He gave Robbie Dilmore free will. You know, that's a pretty big risk.
And Dwayne Carson. And he gave us the opportunity to do Truth Talk Live today. And I'm in the studio and you're at your home. And we've had a joyful time. Listeners, thank you for listening in.
