Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk the truth news. I can't hide it. I can hold it. A daily program powered by the Truth Network.
This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what. Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Speak your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. Mm-hmm.
Scary verses of the Bible today on True Talk Live. Oh, my goodness. It is that time of year. And there we have Date the word Carson. Doctor, date the word Carson right in front of us.
And I've never heard him so. theatrical in his um vocalizing scripture before, but we would love to know You know, when you think about Versus that that kinda help you see that there is a God and I'm not him, things that brought the fear of God into you, things that Get your attention perhaps to this day. What are those verses for you? We would love for you to call and tell us 866-348-7. 7884.
Yeah. verses of the Bible. Yeah. Yeah, there you go. There you go.
This was another one of your brilliant ideas. Actually, I'm very excited to hear people call in it again: 866-348-7884.
So many of these verses sent me deeper. Into the Bible, try to understand it better because honestly, they're scary. Yeah, I started doing this years ago. And I'm calendar-driven, date the word. And so we're going to have verses for Easter and Christmas.
Well, we're coming up on this event that the world has Halloween. It's not definitely a Christian thing, but there's Halloween. We have scary things.
Well, I'm reading through my Bible, and there's times I'd see a verse. And I go, man, that is scary. And the one that got me, Robbie, was Luke chapter 8, verse 14: the parable of the sower. And Jesus explains it and says, Now the ones that fell among the thorns of those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. And I read that.
And I go, that is scary. to think that I could have started well And yet I let other things get into my Christian life and crowd out the things that really matter. And all of a sudden, I don't have any fruit. And to me, one of the scariest things that could ever happen is for me to show up to heaven, and I don't get the well done, my good and faithful servant. I get there.
But I'm unfruitful.
So that's a scary verse.
So, for our listeners, we're looking for those verses that you've come across that. Boy, it really got your attention. You like, you know what? I don't want that happening in my life. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
866-348-788-4 is the number to call in and share. 866-348 Seven, eight, eight, four, you know, the first time I read through the Bible. I read about Aaron's sons. They offered strange fire. And Fire came down and consumed them, you know, like crispy critters, like man.
Yeah. And that crisp. Crazy, if you really read it, it looks like they were cooked inside their clothes because the clothes they took out and buried, but there was no. Boys in y you know what I'm saying when you're in the middle of the Right. And God did that.
Because they did not regard him as holy. It's an amazing verse, and I've actually studied it. I guess as long as I've been a Christian, to see, you know, trying to get it in my mind. And only recently here did I begin to fathom. Yeah.
fire that they called strange fire. See when they originally lit the altar, the fire came down from God. And so it was his fire, it was his burning love that started that fire that would be a picture of the altar that his son would eventually give his sacrifice on, that would atone for all sin. And so To use strange fire is to try to do things in your own works, right? And doing things your own way.
And when you're. to an extent mocking Jesus and his sacrifice. Then all of a sudden you can see why God's love would be burned like that. I mean it it's it's a It's a scary thing that there he is. Um Yeah.
It's so much love that he you know, he it's just it's more than we can stand. Yeah. And Hebrews, um um 11 is 11, 12. Hebrews 12, 29 says, For our God is a consuming fire. Um we've got to regard him with reverence.
He does not want to have us just being flippant with him. That's part of the Ten Commandments, you know, do not take the Lord's name in vain. You can't profane his name.
So we're looking for scary verses. I do a thing. With date the word, where I try to list verses 1 through 31 so that I have a verse for each day of a month. There's the verses that match the date, but I also have this kind of list, do the same thing, like 25 verses till Christmas.
Well, 31 verses. That are scary verses. And yeah, Halloween comes on the 31st. Is that the idea? Yep, that's the idea.
And so, like Proverbs 29:1, he who is often rebuked. and harden his neck Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. Scary verses of the Bible. 866348. Seven eight eight four eight six six three four eight.
7884. That Proverbs 29.1 is scary. What verses do that for you? What what verses Help you realize the fear of the Lord, right? And we were talking about earlier today as we're recording November's date, the word and Isaiah 6, right?
He gets a little overwhelmed, right? When he sees, he's like, oh, whoa, is me, for I'm a man of unclean lips. He got into the presence of God. And you know, any any verse has the Possibility of doing that for you. We would love to know what verse did you read?
And all you went, oh no, I'm a man of unclean lips, right? And, and, um, You needed that Spark from the altar. 8663487884866348. Seven eight eight four. All right, Doc.
Mm-mm more scary.
Well, I I I think of 1 Peter 5.8. Because he tells us to be silent. Scale of like most scary or on the no, just a verse for okay, so they're not they're not ascending or descending of scariness, not necessarily.
Okay, each one's got some scariness to it. You know, the first Peter 5:8, we're told to be sober-minded, be watchful, your adversary, the devil. prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to Devour. Devour.
Now when you think of that word devour, that's not pleasant. When someone falls or jumps into a cage where a lion is. That's not going to end well. And Peter says, you got to know our devil, this devil, he's an adversary. He's an enemy.
You got to get your guard on because he wants to devour you. I call that a scary verse. It's reminded me of my necessity. Put on the armor of God. It reminds me last night Tammy and I were discussing The scariest of animals, interestingly, of which animal in Africa is the most deadly?
What would you guess the most deadly animal in Africa is? You can feel free, guys. Nick, you got any ideas? What do you think is the most deadliest? animal in Africa.
Well, I don't think it's a lion. I think it's a snake. Yeah, I was gonna say snake too. Snakes good, it's number two. Number one is the mosquito.
The mosquito. Yeah. Scary. I mean, it's scary when they don't bite you. They get your blood, man.
It's scary stuff, but snake, number two, black mambos and Puff Adders, 866-348-7884. We're ready for your scary verse. of the Bible. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Welcome back to Truth Talk Lives.
Today, it's scary verses of the Bible. 866-348-7884. Call us with your scary verse. We got Gary Weiss. Is in Jacksonville, Florida.
Gary, you're on Truth Talk Live. Thank you for calling.
Well, thank you for the challenge. Uh had no problem. coming up with a verse because uh It it's been uh on my list for many years. It's Matthew 7, 22 and the surrounding verses, but. Um Do you want me to read it or yes, by all means?
That's a scary verse. There. Many will say to me on that day Lord, Lord. Didn't We not prophesy in your name. and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles.
Then I will tell them plainly, this is verse 23. I never Knew you. away from me You evildoers. This is the NIV version. I'm sure the other ones are even more graphic in some ways.
But um You know, th that w Look at the news and and we see stories throughout our life of failed ministries and uh pastors and um what have you, the the the deception and the, you know, the cults and Everything is all the spiritual warfare, this is It it's the enemies. deception And um diabolical ways of um impacting potentially impacting us without In our heart, and the Holy Spirit in our heart guiding us. In the midst of this But This challenge of um letting him be in control of our lives. It's just It's just amazing. We just need him for every breath and every decision.
That's absolutely beautiful. Plus, Dr. Carson, he used to Tremendously wonderful word for today. Diabolical. I mean, that's scary.
That's a scary word. I like that word, Gary. Diabolical. Yeah. Don't you think?
Neck yeah. Yes, and that brings up to mind, obviously, this is what this is all about, Thanksgiving. I have friends. who will not engage at all in it. Because they feel You know, it'll help.
Children and parents go down The wrong paths. And then there are others, many churches uh Several that I've uh connected with will have trunk or treat. to try to redeem the whole Um craziness and show genuine love and and care and concern and you know be um salt and light in the midst of the the war. Yeah, that's a it's a real it but, you know, I can just say that You know, my church did it. Last Sunday.
And Oh, that we had that many children in our church every Sunday morning. I mean, I. I'm telling you. And our church is pretty much out in the, and Dr. Carson will tell you, right out in the middle of Randolph County, pretty much as in the country as you can get.
In the country. And I never would have guessed. that there were that many children that could have come. But oh my goodness, did we have them? 300 people came from all over the place.
And We got to share You know, some cool stuff with them, and some of them indicated that they might come back to church.
So I. I understand. I like his word, redeeming. We can redeem these different. Events on the calendar, Valentine's Day, It's not a Christian holiday, but it's a day that you can redeem and share the love of Christ.
And that's why, with this idea, for me, years ago, it was: what are those verses that scare the daylights out of me? And to think what you just said here, Matthew 7:22, to think that you could be doing what appears to be the real deal. But Jesus said, No, you're not real. You're doing religious works, and depart from me. I mean, I don't.
No, much more of a scarier verse than depart from me. I never knew you. Um you who practice Lawlessness Hmm. Scary verses of the Bible. Yeah, that's scary stuff.
You take Titus 1.16. Um They profess to know God. But in their works they deny him, being abominable. disobedient. and disqualified for every good work.
Uh You can profess that you know God. The demons say they know there is a God, they know there is Jesus, but the Bible also says they tremble.
Well, there's a part to it, Gary, right? and I'm sure you share this concern with me. that Am I Doing this stuff for him, or am I doing this stuff so I look good? Hmm. Absolutely.
The deception of leadership and teaching and service Uh it can be Um Totally because of that. Desire to have some significance and think that we're doing something. That God will like. But Really, we can't do anything good. The only thing that's good is what He does through us.
That's it. You know, it's that subtle little difference. Total little difference. Yeah. And that it that's beautiful, right?
That's exactly right. It's just a subtle little difference, but it's almost indistinguishable by our own.
So we almost have to, like you said, every breath. Like is this this is this the direction you know you wanna go? I Real quick story, Gary, because as you said that every second.
So, like, I'm sure a lot of pastors. You know, Sunday. I had a sermon, I thought. Yeah. I'd been studying on it actually for over a week to have what I thought was just this wonderful sermon.
But I couldn't get any Like this is this the one God? Is this it? Is this it? And I couldn't get it. Yeah.
Ten minutes. Before I had to get ready to go to church, God I'll change it. Have you said no, Robbie? I want you to talk about. Your experience in the garbage.
I want you to talk about the Physlama Jamaicas Jamma prayer and things that happened around that, which. was real it For me, okay, God, that's what you want. I can talk about that. It's easy for me to talk about it because it's my life. And So When I got to church, I immediately realized why.
Because so much of my life has to do with the car business. We have a wonderful member there by the name of R.K., and he had two kids that had come to visit him. He's 87, so his kids are about my age, right? And Hi his kids are both in the car business. Uh-huh.
Right. And so much my testimony has to do With how God found me in the midst of the car business.
Well, here they are, and as they are walking into church, Um his daughter says to her brother, You know, we haven't stepped foot through one of these doors in fifty years. Wow. Yeah. Right. I changed the message so that he was relevant and speak right into their lives.
Yeah. Isn't that wild? And I'm sitting there.
Okay, God, I get it. I'm like, all right. Yeah, so Again, I'm hoping he did that. Through me. And I'm praying that he's, you know, I'm under his direction, but man, I was just dumbfounded as I realized.
you know What an opportunity from You know, God the reach out and touch people. It's just like you say, it's it's a I I think I think the way it's put is like the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Yes. Yes. Not a fearful, fearful afraidness of God.
But there's an awe of God that brings about a holy, I call that a holy respect. That. And back to yours on Leviticus with Aaron and his sons. They were not respecting God. And there needs to be that holy reverence in us.
He's to be treated with the most highest of esteem.
Well, Gary, I am so grateful for your. Call and and f and and really your participation in the whole idea. Um God bless you, my friend. Keep up the great work down there in Jacksonville.
Well, thank you so much, and likewise from you. I really appreciate your program the more I hear it. Thank you. The better it gets, and the more enthused I am about your ministries. Oh, thank you, sir.
Thank you, sir.
Well, we'll be back. We need your scary verse of the Bible. 866-348-4646. 788486634 TRUTH. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. Scary verses of the Bible today on Trick Talk Live. Robbie, you're saying that so well. Putting on my best my best. Uh What's his name, Norman?
I can't remember. Vincent. Uh whatever. Anyway, of the Bible. 866-348-7884.
Doc, you got to have another one for us.
Well, I tell you, um. You know Man is appointed once to die. And there's a lot of thoughts about when a person dies, how people. feel about the person who has died. And I came across a verse in 2 Chronicles, and I know a lot of our listeners, they were reading 2 Chronicles this morning for their devotions.
2 Chronicles 21, verse 20 says, He was 32 years of age when he became king. He reigned in Jerusalem eight years. and to know one's sorrow died Gary Verses of the Bible. Yeah, there we go. We got Mike is in Dayton.
He's got a scary verse for us. Mike, you're on Truth Talk. Scary Truth Talk lot. Um my verse is Uh Proverbs 3.12. Uh oh.
Yes, that's a good scary verse. Yeah, for the Lord loves, He corrects. Just as a father. The fun. in whom he delights.
Yeah. Light again. Yeah, the delight's not so scary. The the correcting part can certainly be that way.
Okay. Right. For those of us who've experienced some of that correction in time or two, I get it, Mike.
So you sound like the voice of experience there.
Well, yeah, God's corrected me a few times. Um Yeah. Uh couple times like um I was in the Marine Corps I wasn't I wasn't doing what God wanted me to do And um it just happened to get in a car wreck a few times and you know it didn't have a car didn't have no place to go, couldn't go anywhere. And God you know, God just uh in that in that time this God made me get closer to him and you know, he corrected me that way. Um You know, there's other times too, but that was one that came to mind.
You know, yeah, it makes you pretty humble when you're having to ask for rides. Yeah. And yeah. I can totally relate to the times of my life. when I felt like the rug got totally pulled out from underneath me, but oh man help let the air out of my bag, so to speak.
Yeah. He knows how to keep us dependent. And he does know how to bring into our lives the things that will correct us because, as a father, he does love us.
Now, again, knowing that you're going to be corrected. Knowing that you're gonna be disciplined. does bring about a certain Fear. But it should be a good fear. But God has said, I'm not going to let you, as my son, misbehave.
And he has different ways of getting us to Learn how to behave. Oh, there's no doubt. We have Experienced many, many different ones. That's awesome, Mike. I appreciate you call so much today.
God bless. God bless. Thank you. I love the show. Thank you.
You make me laugh every time you say very liable. I mean, I can't stop laughing.
Well, we got to do it one more time for you then, Mike.
Okay, please. Scary verses of the Bible. Yeah. There you go, Mike. You're making my eyes water.
Thank you. Bye-bye. 866-3487-884-866 Three four eight seven eight eight four. You know the the the parable of The the um Uh what do you want to call it? The stewards, where they're, you know, the The one steward just hides the money, I mean, hides the talents, and next thing you know, Weeping and gnashing.
Gnashing of teeth. That's pretty scary stuff. And he takes that person's gift and gives it to one who will use it. And there is. I don't care about the gift part near as much as the gnashing of teeth.
I'm like, man, I'm not up for no teeth gnashing that right. You know, just for hiding the money, like, man, that's how hard, you know. But the more you study that. the more you realize That he didn't trust the heart of the master. He did not trust him.
He thought he was going to be cruel. No, that's not his. He didn't have the faith. Yeah, he was afraid. That it takes.
We got. Bucksman All right, Bucksman, I know you got something for us, my friend. It's so great to hear from you again. It is. Robbie, the whole reason I called Truth Talk 'cause I didn't want to once again, I've been calling the last couple of nights and I thought, okay, Buzzman, just hold your peace.
You gotta let other people from Truth Talk land call in. But then I heard my dear friend Robbie Dearmore. leading the the microphone, I was like Okay, Busbin, one more time, but you're not calling tomorrow because that's your buddy Robbie Dilmore on there, the Christian car guy. I yes, I heard just a little bit of the conversation on um the scripts are about um It was the man that wouldn't forgive. Is that what we were talking about, Robbie?
I apologize, Street Talk Live. No, no, it's okay. We're just talking about scary you know, this being uh the season of Halloween of scary versus scary verses of the Bible. Like the fear of the Lord was the original idea. And I'm sure you've got that verse that you know, just like man.
That one has me uh Concerned. You want me to give you mine, Robbie? I do. I do. Oh my goodness, guys.
And I was just reminding myself of this just the other day. And I was teaching it to a brother of ours. We don't realize, Robbie and Truth Talk Live listeners, that we will be judged.
Someday in our future. We get enamored with the fact that we've been saved by the grace and the love of God and through the precious blood that was shed. 2,000 years ago for me. And for you. And what we don't Remember.
And all that glory. is that one day Unless the Lord makes it the last day and He shows up and we don't die, But it's better, you know, better to pattern our lives after this thought. This is scary. Thought. Boston?
Everything you have ever done. Said and didn't say and didn't do, even the secret Stuff. Will be made known on your judgment day sometime in your future. And I went, wow, Robbie.
Now where am I finding that? Ecclesiastes Chapter twelve The very last verses of that book. And what frightened me, brothers. was the fact that even the secret things will be judged.
Now guys, We're talking about the judgments.
So Christ made it available for us to enter heaven through the blood that he shed on the cross at Calvary. And so we are sealed by the Holy Spirit when the Holy Spirit comes in and He changes us from the inside out. And if you want evidence, ladies and gentlemen, of the Spirit, being in you personally. Go to Galatians. CHAPTER five There you go.
And look up the list. Yeah, love, joy. But I got to tell you this, Besman, because I I I I not only know that verse I experienced it. I love the fact that you do that, Robbie. You're one of the most scholard men on.
the microphone for truth talk. Go ahead, brother.
So I, one night, this is like. Long, long time ago, about the time I started the Christian Car Guys show, I was praying very diligently one night, and Jesus showed up in a form that I. All I can say is it scared me. Like it was like, usually, when I'm experiencing the Holy Spirit and the Lord, it's not a really scary feeling. It's a warm, loving feeling.
But this time it was like, oh my goodness. And when he showed up, it was with a pretty pronounced Robbie, what do you want? And it scared me so bad, I kind of answered it glibly. And I said, I just want to serve you. And when he said that, then all of a sudden.
I don't know how to explain this other than you'll experience well I'll experience it because he said, do you? And he didn't say do you in a sarcastic way. He was more of a brokenhearted way. Like, do you really, Robbie? And when he did, you know.
Peter, Robbie, just like he's got a lot of money. The the file open that And your life flashes before you, like, oh, yeah, that's true. And all these thoughts and all these moments where he actually, through the Holy Spirit, had impressed me that I was supposed to do this, that, and the other, they all flashed into my mind in like in a millisecond, millions of them. And there they all were. And you know what?
The ones That broke his heart, which ended up breaking mine, were the simplest little things. Like I was supposed to call back Bucksman, or I was supposed to go have lunch with. Uh Dwayne, or I was supposed to go do this, and all these things, and they came at me so fast, I actually jumped up and got a piece of paper. I started writing them down so I could repent and do it. And it was the most spectacular, but there was no condemnation in it.
That's the amazing thing. There was just this sense of, oh, I can still do this. I can repent. I could get to, you know, and it was just one of the most precious memories I actually had, Buzz Minim of my whole life. And that's how I know.
I have Yes. I had a sin. experience just the other day, Robbie, in True Talk. And Mike from Dayton. And I think, is Pastor Carson on here too?
Oh, yeah. Hey, dear Pastor Corson, So the other night God showed up. in my house. I won't go through it, but I know what you're talking about, brother. It's it's a it's a feeling an impression, whatever you want to call it, but I sensed it with all five senses.
senses, I looked to my left. And I could not see him at all. But my God, she was sitting right next to me.
Okay, that's going to bring me to tears because it was a very significant reason. And he was telling me about reconciling me with my wife, who I've been divorced from, for over 10 years. I'm seeing her. I'm seeing her tomorrow. I have three colours.
And you Two years. I haven't seen her in two years, but we've been divorced because of my sin. My sin. Truth Talk, my sin, Dr. Carson, my sin, Robbie Delborne, my sin, Brother Mike and Dayton.
My suit. It's mine. It's not hers. And he sat down with me about Three weeks ago, guys. and had me watch our wedding video and our wedding reception.
Thank you. It was There it was.
So, this is a great opportunity for us to pray because I don't want to get to the break before we do this.
So, Dr. Carson. Let's pray for Bucksman. Lord, thank you. Yeah, Lord, thank you for this opportunity.
We pray that you would go ahead of Bucksman, that you would go ahead of us. You tenderize their hearts. Make them ready for this meeting, Lord. I'm so grateful for this phone call.
So grateful for what you're doing in this. Reconciliation, Lords, you come. In Jesus' name, peace. Amen. You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com.
Scary verses of the Bible today on True Talk Live. Yes, we would love to hear yours at 866-348 7884-86634 Truth Bruce in Jacksonville, Florida has been waiting a long, long time. We appreciate you hanging on with us, Bruce. You're on Truth Talk Live. Oh, hey guys, thank you.
No, it wasn't a long time. It was a few minutes. It was enjoyable listening to you and the previous callers' testimony. uh regarding the you know the his you know unfortunate his unfortunate divorce but yet God working through him and that uh he you know is Looks like he's going to be able to reconcile with his wife, so that was very, very moving. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But yeah, my my verse it's It's a little like, I don't know. It didn't per it's not personally scary to me 'cause there's far more scarier verses in the Bible that I can speak to on my own testimony and how the Holy Spirit convicted me while reading God's Word. My pastor always used to tell me, 'cause when I first came into the faith, I'm like, man, there's a lot of things in this book that. that terrify me. And my pastor told me, Oh, that that that's a good thing So uh so yeah, I uh yeah, 'cause uh I w I was def I grew up in the church and I was a prodigal and I um I decided to go my own way instead of God's way, and well, it it it turned out rather messy for me.
So but By through God's grace I, um I uh I came back into the faith and I'm I'm um I'm just trying to see Kid Will from here on out. We're so glad, too. Amen. Thank you. But my verse is, it was also a very unusual verse for me to read, and I had to read it twice.
I was like, oh my goodness. I go, this is incredible. I had to talk about it afterwards. But it's 2 Kings 2, verses 23 and 24, where Elisha is walking through the woods and a group of kids, probably teenagers. taunted him and he uh he just immediately Cursed him right there and said, And two bears came out of the woods and mauled them to death.
And it's not funny, I shouldn't laugh. Oh, I've always said that's a really unbearable verse. I've just said that. People.
So I was like, wow I go I mean there's numerous instances of they called him you bald heads weren't they called yeah they made fun of him being a bald headed person. I see someone with bald head and I go don't make fun of him look around the she-bears may be around And I am bald. I shave my head. Oh, wow.
So in the King James Version, it says baldy. And I was like, wow. I go, that's. That's that that's interesting.
So yeah, the the judgment was very very swift and quick on on that one.
So um yeah, that was uh that was my verse. Yeah, it's also pause for concern. Yeah. And by the way, I heard a few minutes ago you were trying to come up with the actor's name. It's Vincent Price.
That's right. That's it. Yeah. That's Vincent Price. Thank you.
Yes. The one who says Bahaboo, yeah, that one. Yeah, I always remember him from like the old Batman series. He played a villain. Was he the Riddler?
No, he was the joke. He was a very obscure villain. It was Egghead. That was I believe that was the name of the villain. It was either Egghead or oh gosh, I can't remember.
But I remember I can remember him as a villain, though. Yeah, he plays that person. Yeah, yeah. I'm a child of the 80s, so I, you know, obviously that was like towards the end of his career. And I just remember him doing really spooky commercials, you know, during, you know, during this time of year.
He was in Thriller, you know, the song by Michael Jackson? Yes, yes, yes, yeah, yeah, exactly. His voice was in that, so yeah. That's funny.
Well, I am so thankful. That is, you know, I can remember. first time I read that verse, I'm like, oh my goodness. What are you looking at? Egghead.
Yep, that's who he was. Yeah, it was just a. Basically, one of those action and consequence, like boom, right there, you know? It wasn't something that didn't take a while to materialize.
So. Man. He did have a egg looking head. Dr. Carson picked up the bad.
Yeah, we've got scary stuff. Yeah, there you go. Was was that the ni was that the name of the villain? Was it Egghead? Yes, it was.
Oh, okay. I I was just going off the top of my head 'cause I'm not really uh, you know, Like that instead of that thing, but I'm not afraid of Trivia, right?
Well, anyway, Bruce, I'm so grateful. And by the way, I don't know if you knew this, but we share a name. In other words, My name is actually Robert Bruce. Oh, yeah. But Because my grandfather was very, very much into Scottish lore and Robert the Bruce being the king.
And so my father's name was Robert the Bruce. My name is Robert Bruce. And my son's name is Robert Bruce.
However, because my father's name was Robert and he went by Bob, they called me Bruce. For years and years and years, and And so, whenever I hear that name, I can't help but just reminisce that my grandparents even To the day they d They passed, wa always called me Bruce. Wow, that's interesting. I I always I always remember that through uh Braveheart, which uh I g I think technically they said wasn't really an accurate movie, but I don't know. Whatever, it's definitely got some some powerful stuff in it.
And and you know, we use that Clips from that movie in our boot camps that we do, Mask on Journey boot camps to show. You know. How he Raised up men to be, you know, courageous. Courageous. But in a way, he spoke the gospel, right?
Because he said, someday, laying in your beds. You know, would you be willing to trade all those days? Because you can take away our life, but you can't take away our freedom. In other words, he who loses his life will gain it. And that's And unfortunately, that's something sorely and I'm including myself in this, that's something sorely lacking in this culture right now is that we have very, very weak men right now.
And I'm trying to get my I well, I can't, I can't try, I can't do anything. Only through the Holy Spirit that God can make me the man I am to be to my family and to those around me.
So it's an opportunity when you think about it, Bruce, that What in your life are you so charged up about that's worth dying for? I mean that you literally would go die for. And I'm just talking to you for a few minutes. I know you'd go die for your family, wouldn't you? Of course you can.
Oh, yeah. Well, you can always say it's funny because you can always say, oh, I'll stay I would stand up for Jesus under any circumstance through torture or anything. And it it sometimes I just I I think man I go just if if that God just gives me the uh the the courage and the uh And the will, because talk is just talk. You know, it's like if you're ever encountered in that situation, you just have to ask God to give you the The words and the peace of mind and the fruits of the Spirit of which you spoke of, because in my flesh, I'm a coward. And that that that that's that that's all there is to it.
But interestingly, perfect love drives out fear, which is the idea of scary versus fear is a fascinating thing, it's a fear of the Lord, but As we head into the last couple of minutes. Stay with us, Bruce. But uh Doc, I'm I'm wondering Well, I think what we just talked about there, Luke 9:25, for what purpose? Profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world? and loses his soul, You can be the most powerful, most famous, the richest.
You've got everything. And you lose your soul? What does it profit a man to do that? There's an eternity and Revelation chapter 21, but the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexual immorals, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. There is a scary verse, right?
There's a hell. Yeah, there's a second death And we need to have that holy fear. A man is appointed once to die, and then comes the judgment. Yeah, that's I don't have my Bible in front of me, but I believe that's Revelations 21:8. Perfect.
That's it. And one of the things that really strikes you is what you just read: is that the very first one is cowards. And I'll be the first to say I acted very cowardly throughout most of my life. And I was one of those people that professed to be a Christian, but I was not. You know how some people just say, oh, yeah, I'm an American.
I'm this, that, and the other. And a lot of people say they're Christian, you know, but by through either growing up in the church or, you know, you know, because their family was Christian, and I and I was one of those. And just like one of those chilling verses that you spoke of earlier, when in Matthew, where Jesus says, depart from me, I never knew you. I read that verse all the time. I'm like, man, is he referring to me?
Yeah, right, right, right. And that's what it's there for. But faith. Is where it's headed, right? That as we embrace those things.
That we can do. Yes, sir. Yeah. And I just want to tell your listeners out there that. You know, you can go to church, you can do all the things, but you know, unless you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
and you you you dive into his word and you you pray and and you're gonna mess up. You're gonna fall. But y the the the point is is you're gonna you you gotta get back up and you gotta just pray to him and ask for forgiveness and and through repentance and you just you you keep walking you don't you don't walk away yeah just just keep walking with him and i and i and i stumble a lot i i i i do and but you know i But his grace is greater than any sin you've ever committed. And, you know, I. You couldn't have closed this out any better than you did, Bruce, so.
Thank you, my friend, for your call and for all you're doing and for everybody that called today. What an awesome show, Doc. Great idea. Scary versus. And settle.
You know, we'll be thinking about that all week. Right? Yes. So mark it in your Bible when you read one, say, scary verse of the Bible. Yeah.
