Welcome to Truth Talk Live. All right, let's talk the truth news. I can't hide it! I can't A daily program powered by the Truth Network. This is kind of a great thing, and I'll tell you what.
Where pop culture, current events, and theology all come together. Seek your mind. And now, here's today's Truth Talk Live host. Taking the word of God to the world. Created by God.
I'm Stu Eberson. Our passion is to Share the word, speak the word, teach the word, study the word, read the word, memorize the word, meditate on the word, share the word. I hope that you in your most recent trip to church heard the word of God taught From the pulpit to the people of God, because that is what feeds the soul but What if you don't have a Bible? What if you're a believer? You love Jesus.
But you are in an area that is Biblically impoverished. That's why we have A big conversation right now with my friend and brother, Michael Woolworth, of the Bible League. We are partnering with them to end Bible poverty. And to bring the word to so many people that need it. Michael.
Brother, thank you for what you're doing and for Putting up with crazy talks to hosts like me. God is at work in the Bible League, man, and we're excited about everywhere God's word goes, so goes revival, huh?
Well, Stu, we couldn't do without Crazy Radio Host. Like you.
So you've been a great friend of Bible League, this ministry for many, many years. I think this is our 11th campaign working together, Stu. But listen, we could not do what we do without the wonderful Truth Network listening family, all of those listening to Truth Talk today all over the country. And so, yeah, we're coming back this fall with an aim, all of our prayers, all of our efforts focused, Stu, on putting the Bible into empty waiting hands. We want to do that for 3,500 waiting believers that we know by name at Bible League, all over the regions of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
And you're right. You know, you think about the psalmist in 119 who says, what? He says, Cherish the word of God, hide it in your heart, right? But how do you do that? If you've never held it in your hands.
And so this fall, we want to do something about it.
So it's always a pleasure. It's always a privilege for Bible League to partner with our fine folks and friends at Truth Network. Yeah, the pastor gets up Sunday. He says, get in the word every day. I challenge my young men, I challenge guys on the basketball court.
This weekend I said, hey guys, get in the word, study your Bible. But imagine saying that to a congregation of 50, 100, 200, 1,000, or... Yeah. And they don't even have a Bible, or they have maybe one or two Tattered copies. of God's word barely held together by a thread that they have to pass around.
Because, like, I heard of a congregation in China that had one Bible for 300 people, and they had to literally sign up for it. And they're all kind of like trying to be gracious. Like, I want the word. We want to read this to our family tonight. And then, before they can even finish John chapter 7, a knock comes at the door.
And it's the neighbors from just down the street who are members of the church. Hey, we signed up for 9 o'clock. It's 5 minutes till 9. Y'all have got to pass that over. Michael Woolworth, this isn't some pie-in-the-sky embellishment.
This is real for believers across the globe.
Well, you don't exaggerate the truth, Estu. I mean, that's what happens when you live under a corrupt government and majority religions that do everything to try to stop the spread of the gospel. When you live remotely where there are no Christian bookstores, no discount retailers, no Amazon.com to drop a box of Bibles into your village. If you live on $2 a day, you simply cannot afford a Bible. But as I say, enter the Truth Network listening family.
Let me give you some perspective on why the need is so great. You know, we're certainly not the only global ministry on the front lines bringing people to the hope of the gospel and then discipling them as new believers. But let me give you some perspective. Back in the year 2020, when we were all learning to navigate the COVID restrictions, Bible League reached 1.8 million people with the gospel that year. Fast forward to the year 2024, that number increased by 60%, not 16, 60%, a 60% increase.
To 2.9 million people reach with the gospel by Bible League in the year 2024. Without knowing anything else, Stu, that tells you what. God's at work in His world through His Word. And Stu, as you know, you're telling your guys there in the basketball court this morning. God does not expect us to pull His will for our lives out of thin air.
It's clearly on the pages of Scripture, and I can tell you there are heart-hungry believers today that are crying out for that Word of God. They're not asking for our pity, they're not praying for our protection, they're not asking for an airline ticket at a place like the Middle East where they're persecuted. Stu, what they're asking for is the precious Word of God today. That's something. And you're making that possible.
I love it. I just met with a couple of business people just not an hour ago and explained to them how. Five dollars gets a Bible. I mean, like everything: shipping, handling, printing, all of it to someone. Who doesn't have a Bible, but they're what you call a, as you refer to, a Bible-less believer.
And so they couldn't believe it. Five bucks. I hope they're listening now. I hope they'll pick up the phone. Give the number.
I want to give the number a bunch. Listeners, how do you support? The mission of God at the Truth Network. How do you support all of our amazing affiliates that carry this show? The advance of the gospel.
You give a Bible to someone, you call a number, you give them your credit card, you give 100 Bibles. That's $5 times $100. That's $500. You give 1,000 Bibles. That's 5.
Dollars times 1,000, 5,000. Brain doesn't go past that because I spent a lot more time on the court than I did in the classroom.
So please don't ask me to configure beyond that. But if you got more money than that, it ain't yours anyway. Give it, give Bibles away. Our goal is what, 3,500 Bibles, Michael? What's the goal?
Because whatever it is, we want to get there. Yes, Stu, it's 3,500 believers that we know by name. Again, the regions of Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Stu, not a place on earth where Bible League ministers where we're not connected to the local evangelical church. That is The blueprint in the New Testament, why would we deviate from that?
And so, for the princely sum or $5, you can take care of a Bible, put that into the waiting hands of a believer in those regions I just mentioned.
So, again, you're doing the math wonderfully well. A gift of $100 today that's tax-deductible that takes care of 20 waiting believers. $500 today will take care of $100. Just pray about it. Make a gift that's meaningful to you and your family.
And I would ask, do it soon if you can. The reason is we have friends of Bible League in another part of the country that know that we're doing this kingdom work, this holy business right now. They've agreed to double every single gift regardless of size.
So again, at $5 a Bible, every gift. will be doubled. Don't know how long that'll be at play, but again, pray about it. Make that gift. Two ways to get involved today.
It's 800 Yes Word. That's 800 Y E S W O R D 800 937 9673. Or just click the Bible League banner. It says the world needs the word. You can find that at truthnetwork.com.
That's truthnetwork.com. I love it. Thank you so much. We're so excited to have you just briefly to talk about this. Can you give a testimony, Michael?
Folks might want to hear firsthand of someone who got a Bible and it was delivered. You have a way of getting to the people safely. By the way, friends, just so you'll know, the Bible is illegal. And the last count I heard was about thirty-five countries where it's illegal to own a copy of God's Word.
So, Michael and his team at the Bible League have to be very strategic. These are not newbies, they're not green beans. They've been doing this a long time, getting the word of God to people who. Are hungry for the Word of God and who are going to take the Word of God. You think about what you're doing as you're.
Weaponizing in a sanctified kind of way a believer by giving them the Bible. Why? Because now they're fueling their soul by reading the word.
Now they are feeding those around them the word, including especially their family. And then you're mobilizing them to take that to In a gospel application, You're you're you're f you're Mobilizing them to go spread God's word, to Witness for Christ wherever they are, in some cases, some embattled places. Give us a testimony, Michael, if you can.
Well, before we go to break, yeah, let me take you to Malawi, Africa. Tell you about the Zalika refugee camp, Zalika refugee camp. Stu, it's a place of total chaos. There's 50 million asylum seekers, refugees on the continent of Africa. They created this place really for political prisoners.
It was made for 10,000. They've packed 60,000 women, men, and children into this camp. Again, it's total chaos, overcrowding. There's poor sanitation. There's a stench over this place.
There's people groups that hate each other, so there have been murders. There have been assaults, all of these things, right? But into the hope of the gospel, churches in that area said, you know what, we've got to take the gospel into this place. They began to work with Bible League. We provided a weekly Bible study in the languages.
Spoken in that camp. And I can tell you today that a thousand people have come to Christ, Stu. A thousand people have said, We want to follow Christ. There is a sense of order and calmness coming to the pockets of that camp. Mainstream media that are following this place cannot deny the gospel truly transforms lives.
And one of those that's praying for a Bible right now, Stu, is a woman by the name of Miriam. Tell us about Miriam when we come back. We're going to take a quick break. We'll hear about her and more testimonies after this. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.
The Word of God is quick and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet. and a light. The entrance of your word gives light and giveth understanding. This is all what the Word of God says about the Word of God, and the world is full of testimonies of people who have been touched, encouraged, enlightened.
From hearing the word of God, because something about God's word. Red. God's word. Preached, God's word spoken, God's word studied. will literally has changed lives.
For centuries, for millennia. In fact, Daniel read the book of Jeremiah. Not even a generation after it was written, and that impacted the powerful prayer, one of the most powerful prayers of the Bible in Daniel chapter 9. Daniel had. A copy, a partial copy at least, of God's Word.
And what would the Bible be without the book of Daniel? Michael Woolworth is with the Bible. God has preserved his word. miraculously through Prophets like Daniel, through the apostles, and how God inspired them to write the Bible all the way through the ages, through wonderful. Reformers like Wycliffe, like Tyndale, like Huss.
Michael Woolworth? You are in that same Line of people trying to expand the Word of God and to spread the Word of God through the Bible League. What is the mission and the passion of the Bible League, Michael Woolworth? If you could be on an elevator and you got 30 seconds to say what you're about, what really drives your mission? What is it?
Well, you know, there's plenty of good Christian ministries that do nothing more than give a Bible. But, you know, Stu, we engage people in the Word of God as you're coming out of all those isms of the world. I want to finish my story of the Zalika refugee camp in a second. But as you're coming out of all of those isms, right, and you've been introduced to the hope of the gospel, you need to be grounded in God's Word. Often what you have is a caricature of what Jesus is all about, what Christianity is all about.
And so to be grounded in the Word means what? You can open up your own Bible and you can read about the God who loves you. You can understand his will for your lives. And then very quickly, Stu, we find that those new believers learn very quickly. You don't keep Jesus to yourself.
You share him with others. And so that's what we saw at this Zalika refugee camp, now in our 87th year of ministry. I mentioned this as a place of total chaos. But pastors in that area, churches, Christians, said, look, we've got to take the hope of the gospel into this place. They started about 50 Bible studies, Stu.
They would invite people week after week, about 40 to 50 people each.
Some of those exclusive to men, some exclusive to women. But I can tell you today, a thousand people have said, We want to follow Jesus in a place that's known only chaos. Again, mainstream media that's covering this place are saying, why? Boy, this gospel, it truly changes lives. And as we were going to break, I mentioned Miriam, whose husband died as a political prisoner in that camp.
Things got so b bad for her, she thought, I'm going to end my life. Surely somebody will assume responsibility for my three children, ages three, five, and seven. But Miriam's one of these that was invited to a study, Stu. And all that spiritual darkness, all that depression that she was facing, it all went away.
Now, listen, she's got a terrible uphill climb because I don't know that she'll be able to return to her homeland. She'll be in that camp for a long time. But she's one of those among 1,000 that have said, I want to follow Jesus. And so today, Stu, we're wanting to bless 1,000 waiting Christians in the languages of Swahili. Karundi and French.
And, you know, on the heels of your comments about Charlie Kirk, you know, when tragedy comes, when you're looking for comfort, when you're looking for perspective, you don't go to your favorite cable news source or the front page of your morning paper. It's what? It's the pages of Scripture. And so that's what the precious Word of God will do today for these thousand waiting believers.
Now, ultimately, won't we want to do this for 3,500 that we know in the regions of Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America? But again, today, Our few minutes together, Stu, you know, a thousand that are praying for the precious Word of God today. Let me give you a quick way to get involved. It's $5 a Bible. Today, every gift, regardless of size, will be doubled.
So, $60 today is a dozen believers getting Bibles. Multiply that by two because of the match. $500 today is not $100, it's 200 waiting believers. Taken care of with the precious word of God today.
So, two ways to get involved: it's 800 Yes Word, 800 Y E S W O R D 800 Yes Word, or just click the Bible League banner. You can find that at truthnetwork.com. But Stu, the business at hand for the month of October for Bible League and Truth Network is to answer the prayer of these 3,500 waiting believers, and it happens with every call and with every click today. I love it. Now, that 800 yes word, spell it out for someone listening to the radio right now that may not be able to come.
connect the numbers. What's the shorthand of that? Yeah, you know, so so the t so so uh numerically it's 800 937. 9673. That's 800-937-9673-800-Yes Word.
Or just find the Bible League banner. It's posted at truthnetwork.com. Again, $5 sends a Bible, every gift doubled. How many will you send? Awesome.
Don't have a rec now. Don't text and drive, but you can text and host because I just texted a group of people that are friends of mine to call that number to give a $5 Bible to a Bible-less believer.
Now, extrapolate this out for us, Michael Woolworth with a Bible League, a wonderful ministry. These guys are codified, certified. They're legit. They're a 501c3, so all your donations are tax-free, you know, tax deductions. Don't necessarily do it for that, but it's nice to have a way.
a non-taxable way to bless and give ahead to pay it forward to invest in someone else's eternity because God's done so much N u And for you, as He's given you His Word, and His Word has changed your life.
So now you're able to be a vessel, a tool to get His Word to a hungry world of folks that need it so desperately, that don't have a Bible. Michael Woolworth, where are these Bibles going? People that are new to the Bible League, maybe new to listening to this program. And we want to welcome them here. Thanks for being here with us today.
How does it work?
So I call the number. I say, hey, I want to send 100 Bibles at $5. I want to send $500. Here's my credit card. Bam.
And I will be doing that sometime during this campaign. Believe me, I do it every time. I love it. And I get so much more out of it than they get out of my giving. I'm going to tell you that.
But tell me this, Michael Woolworth. Where does that number? Once I initiate that, I give them my card. And a hundred bucks or a thousand bucks or $20,000, whatever people want to give, to give these Bibles away. What happens?
Where does the Bible go? To give us a pract break it down for us practically.
Well, as I say, there's not a place on earth where we minister, where we're not connected to a local evangelical church. We're just not an island out there doing this work. And we've been properly vetted. Stu Epperson doesn't let just anybody on the air. But the fact that we've worked together for 11 campaigns wins what, we can uh we're we're going to follow through with everything we promised to do.
We'll squeeze every dime to the glory of God. But, Stu, specifically by the end of October, we want to tell 3,500 waiting believers. That have all come to saving faith, are members of our spiritual family, that those Bibles you're praying for, they're coming, they're on their way. But let me just wrap up with a scripture here that I think will give you some confidence. And that's Paul in 2 Corinthians 9: he says, God will give you spiritual faith.
spiritual seed and make that seed grow, he'll produce a great harvest. From your goodness. What is your goodness today? It's a $5 Bible given in Jesus' name to a believer half a world away. And, Stu, if you can say to yourself, I love my Bible and God has used His Word to grow me, would you give that privilege to others?
We want to do that for 3,500 that we know by name by the end of October. It happens with every call and with every click. And let me say this. People like Charlotte, Arnold, and Rodney, all listening to Truth Network today, have said, count us in. We want to be a part of this.
And, Stu, that's how we get it done. It's call by call, click by click. There's a big gap between where we stand today on day one of this campaign and where we need to be by the end of October. But if there's a group that can get us there, it is the Truth Network Listening Family. Yeah, it's just, I just love doing this because it's gravy, man.
It's just a blessing to be able to, God has. done something to us.
Now God has done, is doing something through us, through our generosity to a ministry like the Bible League. Of course, this is to be above and beyond your regular giving to your local church, your tithing, or however God has put on your heart, you know, through your giving. That's huge. Keep doing that. But this is a gift that goes to the Bible League to send a Bible directly to someone who desperately needs it.
800? 800. Yes, word. Is that right, Michael Woolworth? 800 yes word.
Did I do it right? Yeah, you got it. 937-9673-800-Yes Word or Truth Network. It's that easy, Stu. We train our operators to get you on and off very, very quickly.
Spreading God's word to God's world. What else are we doing? I mean, that Romans chapter 10 passage, I absolutely love it. It's so cool. Clear.
It's just so. convicting How shall they hear if there's not a preacher? And how shall they go if they're not sent? And it says, How lovely are the feet of them that bring the gospel of good news? The gospel of peace.
Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. I think we should all have that verse committed to memory. And you heard me kind of work through it there, not exactly word for word. But how important is the word of God? I'm going to give the number one more time for those of you, one of our great partners here, that help us do this program and make a difference, that help you make a difference by inviting you to give.
It's 1-800-YES Word for the Bible League. $5 sends a Bible to a Bible-less believer.
Someone overseas, some countries you can't even mention, but they have a. A channel, a way to get these Bibles to them, and they get a Bible. They've never had a Bible before. And they're believers. Imagine that.
And so, think about if you're a believer and you don't have a Bible. You know, what would happen if that was the case? 1-800, yes-word. Any amount will be a blessing. $5.
If you can give 100 Bibles at $500, 100 Bibles will go to people that need God's word. These folks are doing this the right way. Thank you, Michael Woolworth and Bible League. And TruthNetwork.com, we got a link there for them as well. What would, you know, I think about my friend Russ East.
Like, if he were, if he were just to pop in the show today, and what would he do without God's word? What would it be like for him without a Bible? I'd be so lost, dude. Wait a second. I'd be so lost.
How in the world did they. How did he get on here? Today is. Today is Missions Monday, Stu, and I've been at Grand Canyon University And I've been so excited. I'm sweating.
What? Because I've been talking to students who want to share the gospel with Mormons. I've got names and numbers of 15 college-age students. That are just Jumping up and down a well, not jumping, but Well, one person was, but they are just smiling and so excited about just to know that they can have like a partner In reaching Mormons for Christ. It's so exciting.
And they want to bring their student body here. at Grand Canyon University up to Utah in March. And uh I'm just so blessed. I'm so blessed. I can't tell you how encouraged I am.
Because I'm getting old and you get a little discouraged. But it's nice to see those kids with energy. It's nice to see this kind of new wave, this new generation, fired up about sharing the gospel. And you think about how many Mormons have come to know Christ because they started reading. The good book.
They actually started reading the Bible because they're not going to find inspired. Holy Spirit breathed literature in the other false books. The Pearl of Great Price ain't going to have it. The doctrines of covenants ain't going to have it. The Book of Mormon is fully flawed because it's a human book with full of errors.
But there's not one error in the Bible, and when Mormons or anyone. How about this? When a Baptist reads the Bible, there's a lot of folks that grew up in it, but they never read it. And when they read the Bible, something about that word of God. It it you know, I love what it says in verse 7 of Psalm 19.
Right? It says the law of the Lord is perfect. Converting the soul. It converts the soul, Russ. You've seen, where would you be without God's word, Russ East?
Oh man. You know, I was so glad to be invited to go to a Bible-believing church. when I was just fourteen years old. And And the Lord saved me at a Christian church, at Santa Rosa Bible Church in Northern California. And God has been gracious to me and He's He's just he's just given us this vehicle, Utah Partnerships for Christ.
encourage people to provide them with some resources. And I appreciate the Truth Network, you Stu and everybody At the Truth Network. I couldn't have done it with your guys' support. Isn't that something? You know, you went to it.
Listen, listen, the only place on the planet. The only place, and we call a lot of places churches that aren't churches. You should change the name of some of them to clubs. And how do you know if it's a church? Because The Bible.
If it's under the authority of God's word, the entire word of God, then yes, it's a church. If it's under the full authority of God's word, if it changes and splices and dices and gets goofy and weird and wonky and reinterprets it to allow for. Ungodly unions in terms of redefining marriage, redefining life, redefining sin, all these things. It's not a church. It is not a church.
Go there to evangelize, but don't go there to be fed. But Russ. The place where God's word is opened and is taught is the church of the living God. And what other place opens a book? A book that in some, you know, that is over 2,000 years old.
that was written on th from three different continents Over 1500 years by 30 plus different authors, you know, utilizing three different languages, and it's one. 100%. impeccable True. Accurate. Per Psalm thirty verse five, which says it.
Every word of God is pure. And then he goes on to say, he is a shield to those who put their trust in him. When you take God's word to the bank and you trust his word, you are under a supernatural protection. And that's what really separates our book, it is a true book. Every religion has its book, right, Russ?
Every religion comes up with it.
Some are copies of God's word. You know, some of them are. You know, weak attempts to have a holy book like the Quran, which is fraught with all kinds of geographical, archaeological, historical problems, like the Book of Mormon, which has got all kinds of plagiarism and all kinds of nonsense in it. Just Google the Bible versus the Book of Mormon. Russ, you passed those videos out last time you came to North Carolina.
I mean Well talk about the overwhelming. Evidence for God's Word, how it stood the test of time. It's the most stolen book. It's the best-selling book. And it is the book more people have tried to destroy copies of God's Word than any other book.
Well, just starting from an area that is just real basic, but it's important. To note is in the book of Acts. When you read about the different Trade winds and the ways that the Apostle Paul would travel from one place to another. You you still have those same trade winds going on today by ship. And so these travels, these places, these islands, these ancient cities, they exist today.
I've actually walked on the steps of. Thessalonica. I've watched I've walked in the in the places where Paul went to Philippi. I've been to Mars Hill in Athens. In fact, I'm hosting a trip.
next year through Pilgrim. Christian Travel, and we're going. We got 10 people already signed up. They've already given their deposits. This is something that I'm just doing with Utah Partnerships for Christ, but Hey, if you want to go and see with your own eyes, go to Corinth with me.
and walk and see these places. I mean We have archaeological evidence. We have coins. various people that are mentioned in the book of Acts. In the Gospels, and it's just amazing to see.
different layers of evidence that we can Put our trust in. The word faith, we don't want to mistake in that. Or just like a silliness, a silly trusting into something Silly and ridiculous, like faith in Santa Claus. Just believe in Santa Claus. No, no, we're putting our trust and our belief.
And our reliance upon Jesus of Nazareth. Clue where it's Same thing, we can go to Israel, we can see Capernaum, we can go to places like Nazareth, I've been as well. And it's incredible because everything matches up. It's reality. I've been to the Sea of Galilee.
all these things and then you read the impact of the But but how it's it mirrors The the uh the Old Testament shows Mankind's his his nature and and and doesn't sugarcoat it. And it's just incredible how We see the the fall in Moments of mankind and say King David and so forth. But you see his repentant heart, you see how God used him. And 'cause he God got a hold of his heart. And and he had to do it in some drastic ways sometimes.
But you know what? God God just shows us that He He's got a whole mapped out plan. And we've got to get our nose back into it. I've got to get more back into it.
Well, the word, you get in the word, but what happens when you get the word rust is the word gets in you. And then, as you start thinking, let me just rid everyone of insomnia right now. memorize a verse and take it to bed with you to night. And force your mind to think about that verse, to roll that verse over and over again in your mind, or just roll it over and go. Just think through it, think through it, take it, think through it, think through it.
You'll be out like a light. You're like, what happened to my insomnia? Same thing's true of depression. You can't have two thoughts at one time.
So, if you're thinking about the word, if your delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law, he meditates day and night, what's going to happen? It's going to be like that tree firmly rooted by rivers of water, bringing forth its fruit in its season. Your leaf also shall not perish, and whatever you do. Will prosper because you have God's word leading your, guiding your thoughts. Empowering you, instructing you, rebuking you, convicting you.
And Russ, like you said, when you pick up God's word, you're reading the ugly stuff too. I mean, Peter was such a great guy. Why does it record him denying Christ three times? Like you said, David and his sin. And I mean, these guys were rough.
It's a bloody book. I mean, it shows all these things, but it shows the most important. Bloody scene. That is the bloody Redeemer. All arrows in God's word point to Jesus.
He's that. That beautiful Thread, that scarlet thread of redemption that runs all the way through Genesis, all the way through Revelation, you know, starting that first beautiful prophecy of Genesis 3:15, where the serpent crusher. Would he emerge victorious and say, It is finished and raised from the dead the third day, and he's coming again.
So, Russ, this is a living book. And anyone listening. I want to do something. I want to do something to do. If if anyone will contact me 'cause we're the Ministry of the Month.
I'm so grateful for that of the network. If anyone will contact me, I'll send you some materials to reach Mormons for Christ, but I'm also going to include. As a thank you just for contacting me and just saying I'm praying for you. I'm gonna send you like a little inexpensive Night light that you can hook onto your Bible, and then when you're trying to go to sleep and your spouse is ready to fall asleep, and you want to stay up a little bit longer, you don't want the light to make, maybe she already did her reading and stuff. But You can Bend this little thing, and it'll go right on the page.
And you can hold on to the Bible and you can read it. You see what I'm saying? I'll mail you one of those. For anybody, the first 20 people that. That do that just as an encouragement for us to stay accountable and to read God's Word.
If you have a hard time going to sleep, I'm gonna start doing that. Let's do that. Can we do that? Yeah, what's the best way to reach you, Ross? What's the best way to reach you?
Just go to U. We have a new website, U is in Utah, Peace in Partnerships, F is in 4, C is in Christ. The letter for it.
So U P F UPC.org, the acronym for Utah Partnerships for Christ.
Okay. UPFC.org. And by the way, friends, you want to support a ministry that's taking the word of God to A whole group of people that think they have the Word of God. They think they're on their way to heaven, but they're not, and they're lost. And this guy is reaching them, and he's not reaching them from this high, holy hill saying, Oh, you guys are bad, and I figured it out.
No, if you're a believer in Christ and you're reaching the lost, you're saying you're getting below them. You're like the good Samaritan. That guy got bloodied, didn't he, Russ, when he picked that poor guy that got beaten and robbed. He got bloodied and he and it cost him a lot, but he saved that guy's life. Russ, stay with us because we're going to find out your favorite Bible verse when we come back.
We have Russ East Reaching Souls Out West. He's our ministry of the month. We'll talk to him and we'll be right back on Truth Talk Live. And if you want to support Bible League, their number is 800 YesWord. Also, truthnetwork.com.
How are you taking God's word? To God's world. We are all. Those that have been given the Word of God, you have a copy of the Bible? It was something we take for granted.
Hey, you own that Bible in certain countries, they will execute you on the spot. You own that Bible in certain countries, it may just fine you. They may just put you in holding for a little while. They may put you in jail or they may put you in a death camp. Like in some countries right now, there are Christians in death camps because they own God's word.
They won't be alive this time tomorrow. They love God, and they're going to meet Jesus face to face very soon. Martyrs still, Christians still die today as martyrs. Four. the gospel of Jesus Christ for the Word of God and spreading the Word of God.
Which again, like I mentioned earlier, is illegal in all countries, are in many countries, not all countries, about 35 to date. Russ East is with Utah Partnerships for Christ, our Ministry of the Month, upfc.org. A lot of folks wanting to know how they can support Bible League, another one of our partners this month here at the Truth Network, because we want to spread the word beyond ourselves. It's so much bigger than you and me. And think about how God's word has come to you.
Now God's word can come through you to a generous gift to Bible League. Their number is a toll-free number, 800-YesWord. There's a big link at truthnetwork.com where you can also download our free app. You can learn more about Russ East Ministry, UPFC. You can listen to his station on the app.
Listen to Mighty 820, 50,000 watts blasting all over Utah, listening to us right now. And on 95.3 FM, all across below there, below Salt Lake, Lower Salt Lake, and Provo in that area. And then, of course, on 103.9 FM. Up in Leighton, in Ogden, in that area. Russ, just a privilege to have you on, man.
God's word has been such a God's word brought us together because you and I both decided. As younger men, God really decided, and we had fortunately we had good parents and good direction. And you and I ended up at a Bible college. Remember that? We took Bible courses together.
Imagine that. And you know, when you'd asked me, what was what is my favorite verse? It really goes back to those earlier days. Uh, being a Christian and all, because my favorite verse is Psalm 16:11. It says, Thou.
Meaning, speaking of God, thou will, it's a promise, he will. It's not, he might, like it's questionable. No, it says, Thou will, Psalm 16, 11, thou will show. He's going to display this. He's not going to hide it.
He's going to show me. Thou will show me, not necessarily, you know, he might show somebody else a little bit, but he's going to show us individually as his people, as a child of God. He says, Thou wilt show me the path. Doesn't mean necessarily every part of our lives going on for the next 30 years or something. We don't know for sure what's going to happen in our lives, but he's going to show us the path.
that we should stay on.
So that will show me the The path of life.
So there's there's that factor of uh fact of a term being Have an eternal life. You know, and it's not death. You know, and he'll take us in death someday, but right now, as long as we're living, is the path of life. In thy in within, not outside, but within by God's presence. His his his his ways, his Essence and so forth in his, see, that will show me the path of life in his presence, is fullness of joy.
Fullness of joy, not a little bit of joy, but lots of joy, peace in the midst of difficulty is okay, so thou shalt show me the path of life. In thy presence is fullness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
So again, within his presence, right in the center of who he is. Um is are are ple are good pleasures. Uh forevermore. See, so they're not they're not just like, oh, it's temporary. No, no, these are good things.
So, so It it it it sometimes involves struggle, it sometimes involves pain. But that's where the joy comes in. And then there's the blessings of having grandkids and being married for a long time and just, you know, traveling down here to Grand Canyon and University. And now I'm headed out right now to Scottsdale Bible Church. They want to send a team to Utah to reach Mormons.
So I'm in transit there.
So you're so burdened for your home area in Utah. You're so burdened that you're traveling all the way to Arizona to go to churches, to go to major Christian universities, to say, hey, guys, come with me. And help me reach these people. You're so burdened that even though your docket is full, Russ, you take time on your cell phone to call a national radio show to invite listeners to support you, to pray for you, to send you money, to go to upfc.org and send you a thousand bucks because every penny of that is going to go where? What's it going to do?
Tell everyone.
Well, we've got a Bible Museum for one. We've got an amazing Bible Museum. It's only four rooms, but I can take a... hour and a half with somebody, like I did with uh a a young man and his wife, newlywed, Mormon young couple, and and I shared with them the the things we have in there, like Bible pages from the from the 1500s and show the The fact that God has preserved His word and showed Him like a coin minted at the time of Pontius Pilate. See, Mormon our Mormon friends can't do that.
They don't have that kind of History, true history of what is represented in the pages of the Bible and how we got the Bible and everything. It's just such a blessing.
So it allows me to continue to do the radio ministry. It allows me to have time to. do this trip uh to Greece to organize it and to set up all the details for it and and uh to do these mission trips. and to just interview people that have come out of Mormonism. And um we we just sent two guys to Ghana.
and uh to to reach the Mormons there and to do workshops. on Reaching Mormon.
So if you'd like to have a Zoom call, I've done that. Um, I come into your church and we'll do a workshop on reaching Mormons. What a privilege that would be. But it's interesting, Rush. Yeah, it's so critical that Christians know what they believe and why they believe it.
And if a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ is going to lead someone to Christ, it would help if they study the Word and read the Word a little bit and sat under someone like you to disciple them. Talk about how important that is that we study God's Word, but not just as an academic. An academic enterprise. You know, you quoted that verse from 1611 about the pleasure we find in the presence of God. There's something pleasurable about God's word.
In fact, the psalmist describes it as sweeter than honey, even the honeycomb. More desirable to be than gold, yea, than much fine gold. There's something pleasurable. There's something. Wealthy about it.
There's something about God's word, Russ, that even someone that never went to college or even maybe high school. But there are people that have an eighth-grade education that are preaching God's word out there because they just studied God's Word, and God's Word studied them and transformed their mind. It renewed their mind. Psalm 119 says, You'll be wiser. Than your professors, than your teachers, if you study God's word.
Russ, why is the word of God so important to a ministry like yours at UPFC? Like, why is it that people need to really. To really drill deeper in God's word. Can you talk about that, but not just as an academic exercise?
Well, sure.
Well, I would say that it has to change your life, it has to keep us. walking in a in a way that's holy and in line with God's precepts and God's God's character and everything, and that's very important. And then I was just thinking too of how like when a Mormon will ask a question like when Jesus was on the cross, Um how was he talking to the Father? Is you you Christians say that Jesus is God?
Well, was he talking to himself? Then you get that I've been getting gotten that I've received that question for years. But we have to be able to understand at least what the Trinity is not. The Trinity is not three gods. The Trinity is one God, one essence, three persons.
And that Jesus can be talking to the Father, but but there's only one essence of of who what what what con what constitutes what is God, and that's the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. And so Jesus can talk to the Father and and Jesus can talk to the Holy Spirit if he wanted to and and and Don't pray to Jesus. A lot of people don't realize this. But see, Mormons don't pray to Jesus, and I'll challenge anyone kindly and lovingly. They don't because they don't believe that Jesus is God.
They believe that he is a is a byproduct of Heavenly Mother and Heavenly Father. Up in the in the preexistence as a spirit child baby. And so either way. That's not an attack. We're not criticizing anyone.
That's just the statement of their doctrine. That's what they believe. And Jesus said that unless you believe that I am saved, you will die in your sins. And so he he says that very, very plainly. I believe it's in John 8, I want to say.
And so uh we need to understand this just on a personal testimony level, we have to be able to To understand God's word. We're not going to understand all of it all the time, but we can we can keep investing in it so that when we talk about you know the 49ers, the best football team in America, um, we you know, just Joking around. He's joking. He loves those Niners. He loves those Niners.
He grew up in that area. Yeah. Don't hold it against him.
So, when we get excited about our sports teams, we can talk about all the players and their stats and everything, but we can't always defend God's word. That's why I love this program because people are excited. We get out of bed every morning when we host Truth Talk Live. We get excited about talking about this stuff, about engaging with Russ and our amazing listeners who call in. And that's why, friends, we want to create a taste.
in you. You know, Saint Augustine said it about the Bible. He says the Bible is so deep that theologians can come into its waters and never ever even barely get near the bottom. It's so deep, but it's so shallow that babes can wade in its waters. and benefit from its richness.
You know, in Daniel chapter eight, there's a specific prophecy of a goat, which a goat is a symbol of ancient Greece. The Asia Sea is the goat sea, the Aegean Sea, all over that chapter. And it's fascinating, there's this story, Josephus records, a story in history. When Alexander the Great, who's the goat with one big horn pictured in Daniel 8, when he's coming in to conquer. Uh Jerusalem.
He had a vision the night before. That that Men of a certain God regaled in bright clothing would come out and meet him.
Well, the next day he comes in to attack and destroy Jerusalem, and the priest of God came out. And they opened up the Bible to Daniel chapter 8. And they showed. Alexander How he was the fulfillment of that prophecy, how he would crush the media-Persian Empire. And it's Josephus said Alexander saw that.
He couldn't believe it. And he left Jerusalem. It did not conquer it at that time. But you have God's word fulfilled by Daniel a century before Alexander the Great was even born. And yet he describes this great conqueror.
This great goat whose feet wouldn't even touch the ground. He was so rapid. He's also the leopard in chapter 2 and in chapter 7. But, Russ, the word of God is true. The word of God is quick and powerful.
And Jesus said it this way, practically, man shall not live by bread alone. But by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Russ has this ministry, Utah Partner and Sister Christ. Russ, give the website one more time. And challenge our listeners how they can get in the word before they go to bed tonight and share the word with someone else quickly as we get out of here.
Okay, it's going to be U as in Utah, P as in partnership, F as in four, C is in Christ. I'll send you a little night light. To read your Bible at night. I love it. Send me something that you're going to be praying for us.
UPFC.org, send him some donations. Bless his ministry. And get in the Word of God. and get the word of God in you quickly. It's powerful.
