Happy Memorial Day and Happy Memorial Day weekend to everyone.
Stu Epperson here. The Word of God is living and it's active and has had a huge impact on our country, on our freedom, and so many fallen warriors who've given all. What's the saying? They've been deeply impacted by the Word of God. They've found Bibles on fallen soldiers.
They have found Bibles with bullet holes in them that have protected soldiers in the battlefield from a fatal death. Michael Woolworth is with the Bible League. And Michael, I just love this Memorial Day theme.
Now, someone might hear this show because you're such a blessing to be on when it's not Memorial Day, but right now we're really celebrating Memorial Day weekend and Memorial Day. And the Truth Network listeners and listeners to our station and our program from all over the country on Wilkins Radio, AFR, the one thing we have in common is we're driven by God's Word. If there's no Bible, we're not here.
Honestly, if there's no Bible, there's no Memorial Day because the Bible influenced the founding of our country in a powerful way. Michael Woolworth, effectively, the Bible League, you're simply advancing. You are a soldier. You are a warrior advancing the Word of God.
Is that a, am I under, amplifying what you're up to, man? Well, you know, you've been a great friend of Bible League, and you know, this network has been incredibly kind to us, and especially those whom God has called us to serve all over the world. These brothers and sisters, soldiers in the Lord's Army, if you will, and as do they often do that in places where they're not welcome. You know, you and I are excited about church growth. We're excited about people coming to Christ and putting away the former self, right?
But I can tell you there are forces at work around the world that aren't happy about that, and that's why we've joined forces for this campaign, Open the Floodgates, Bibles for Africa. But yeah, let me just elaborate on what you're mentioning about Memorial Day. You know, Memorial Day serves to remember those who never made it out of uniform, right?
They paid the ultimate price, if you will, to serve their country, to protect our freedoms. And you know, on that theme of weaponry and defending, you know what you're doing today, believers, as you send God's word? This book that we love, this precious Bible's one, it's a sword. It's described as a sword, right? And it's a weapon to fight the world, the flesh and the devil.
And so what you're doing today as you get involved with this campaign is you're sending that sword, you're equipping the Saints, the soldiers in our army, fellow brothers and sisters who need to be equipped for the battle. Again, Stu, they're often singled out, targeted, monitored, beaten, jailed. Some face death.
I mean, they pay the ultimate price for following Christ in places like Malawi and Nigeria, Africa. And so, again, as you think about observing the Memorial Day weekend with your family, perhaps you're throwing brats on the grill. My hope is maybe you can visit a veteran cemetery, attend a parade that might happen in your hometown. But again, as we remember those that never made it out of the uniform, again, think of that spiritual battle that we're in here in our country and all across the world. You know, it's so easy to say, OK, Stu, we're here in America.
Let's worry only about our own problems. But again, there is a there is a call in the word to what? To not withhold good from those to whom it is due when it is within our power to act. And, you know, our two, ten minutes together today means what? We're giving you a glimpse into what God is doing, even on the continent of Africa.
Sure, that's half a world away, right? But what happens is this is where Christianity is growing in the greatest numbers. You know, Stu, before I came on the air with you today, just a real quick Google search. I put in Christian news in Africa. Stu, here's what came up. 70 Christians in the Democratic Republic of the condo, kidnapped, tortured and beheaded inside a church by terrorists aligned with the Islamic State.
A couple other entries. In Ethiopia, religious violence has escalated, resulting in churches being burned down and pastors murdered by radical factions. And then in Somalia, the terrorist group, Al-Shabaab, is suspected of killing any Somalian who converts to Christianity. You talk about spiritual warfare.
Stu, I can sit here and just go down the line of all that's happening in places, again, like Malawi and Nigeria and Mozambique Africa. I mean, again, Christians are paying a price. And again, it's a good reminder that there is a spiritual battle happening. And these believers, Stu, they're not asking us for our pity. They're not praying for an airline ticket out of where God has them planted.
They want to stay right there because they know God works through the pain and the suffering that they face. What they're asking for is what? Well, our prayers. They covet our prayers.
But they're also asking for something that they simply cannot access themselves. And that is simply the precious Word of God. But enter the Truth Network Listening Family. Stu, let me give you an update on where we are in this campaign, Open the Floodgates, Bibles for Africa. We said, you know, this is a major issue facing the global church in Africa, where as many as 9 of 10 believers in many of those countries I just mentioned, again, go without a Bible.
They've been denied God's Word to this point. We said, can we do it for 3,500 waiting believers that we know by name of Bible League? And I can tell you we're at the halfway mark right now. We've got the other 1,750 answers to prayer by the Truth Network Listening Family. We've got the other 1,750 to take care of. We've got a little extra time to do this. But again, today, in the moment, I don't mean now, I mean like right now, if what Stu and I are talking about is resonating with you, and you agree there is a spiritual battle, and no better weekend that as we take a pause, and we remember those who never made it out of uniform, that this is an opportunity to do something tangible.
And Stu, again, I don't have to beat this Listening Family over the head with this. For years we've worked together, and they've always responded generously. I think they love the Bible that they have in their lap, and they know that God has used His Word to grow them, and they simply want that privilege for others today. Well, I love it, and I love the idea of give a Bible to someone who doesn't have one in Africa, and honor a fallen warrior, a fallen patriot, someone, one of the many thousands of men and women who have given all for our country, who've died and serviced this country, who have died. Some of the last veterans of Pearl Harbor, the last veterans of World War II are just hanging on.
There's just a handful left who haven't gone on and passed away. But the Bible is so powerful, and just imagine not having a Bible. I just think about every day, this is so easy to talk to you, Michael Woolworth with the Bible League, and I'm Stu Epperson, and thank you to our wonderful friends, family, folks that listen to this program.
Every week, every day we're on, and we're celebrating a special Memorial Day weekend, Memorial Day celebration of Truth Talk and Truth Talk Live. We're showcasing in this segment the Bible League, because the Bible, where would you be without the Bible? Who is God? Who is Jesus? Why did He come? What is the cross? What is redemption? Where did we come from?
Who created the earth? I mean, you go all the way back from Genesis all the way to Revelation. How do things turn out at the end? I just heard a great David Jeremiah message this morning on Revelation, on the end time.
The King is returning. Hey, the back of the Bible gives us the greatest ending of all time, of any movie, of any narrative, of any story. And so, Michael, you're simply our kind of Bible warrior-in-chief. You're spreading God's Word.
You have the names of the people. And it's a little bit of a give-back opportunity here on this special day. I hope everyone's really enjoying their Memorial Day weekend. It's a sad day for many people, thinking about, man, I sure miss, you know, my dad's in heaven.
He's a veteran of the Army. And so, the moment he passed, he became someone that we also celebrate on Memorial Day. My uncle Arnold, injured in the Battle of the Bull, just a mighty warrior, great big old man, and a mentor to me, a mentor to my dad. I probably wouldn't be here if it weren't for my dad's older brothers. Uncle Roy, Uncle Ralph, all these guys. And so, Memorial Day is really special. But it's a special way to say, hey, here's a copy of God's Word in honor of someone who is near to my heart, who's no longer with us, but they fought for our country. They represented our country.
They may have sat at a desk on a base somewhere in North Carolina, somewhere maybe at Fort Jackson, and they just maybe pushed numbers. But those numbers helped develop munitions that helped defeat Adolf Hitler, that helped defeat, you know, communist and aggressive, you know, Russian and all those things. So, so many, so important.
You can't say enough about our amazing warriors. But how about making a big, bold statement by giving the Bible out? And there's a simple way to do it.
This is a very brief campaign. But if you would like to give back, if you'd like to just, if you'd like to make your day, you're going to make someone's day who's going to get a Bible by your blessing, and their life's going to be changed because you're going to have God's Word in front of them, just like you have multiple copies. I've got dozens of copies in my house. Sadly, I don't read them all.
I've got so many. I need to give more of my Bibles away. I need to read my Bible more. But imagine giving a Bible to someone who doesn't have one in Africa, but you're going to get the better blessing by doing that.
And Michael, you're going to tell us the simplest way for our listeners across the country, across many different networks and radio stations that carry this show. How do they get involved to give a Bible to someone? Well, to get involved today, and again, it's $5 a Bible. That's $5 a Bible. So $60 today is a dozen Bibles. $100 will take care of 20 waiting believers. Again, these are brothers and sisters in Christ.
They've come to save in faith, but God has them planted where they simply cannot access to the Bible. So for the princely sum of $5 a Bible, you can call 800-YES-WORD. 800-YES-WORD.
That's 800-YES-WORD. Or just click the Bible League banner. You can find that at TruthNetwork.com. That's TruthNetwork.com.
Truth Network and Bible League. We said, can we do this for 3,500 waiting believers, all of these Bibleists but eager to grow as new believers. And again, we're at the halfway mark. We've got about 1,700 to go after seeing about 1,800 answers to prayer to this point. We'd love to get it done.
And even during Truth Talk today, we'd love to see the phones light up, those mice clicking, if you will. And again, we believe we'll get there together. But Stu, thanks for a few moments. You've been a great friend of Bible League.
And I think this is a great way to remember and tie into what Memorial Day weekend is all about. And listeners, we're so grateful for every gift today. Amen. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. Everywhere the Word of God goes out, lives are transformed, including the two men that you're listening to talk on this show today, including so many of you. If you just thought about, man, what's that verse that God used to just explode in my heart and soul and open my eyes and turn the light on the Word of God? But how should they hear if the Word doesn't go out, if the gospel isn't preached, if there's no preacher? So we're asking you to step up and support this very short-term campaign, Bibles into Africa that will change lives forever.
Now, Michael, you have the names of people. You have a way to get the Bible there. All I've got to do is give you $5, and a Bible will go to a Bible-less believer, someone who's hungry for the Word, who loves Jesus, maybe even a pastor who doesn't have a Bible.
And that's the case, friends. They're borrowing things. They're kind of piecing things together just to shepherd a flock, but they have no Bible. How does that happen one more time, and we're going to get out of here? Well, we want to fill empty waiting hands. 3500, we've got half of that need taken care of. Let's take care of the other half at $5 a Bible. So $60 today, it's a dozen Bibles. 800 yes word, 800 yes word, or click the Bible league banner.
You can find that at truthnetwork.com. Wow, thank you so much to so many people who've graciously given and supported all the ministries. Ministries that are on stations that carry this show that just graciously want the Word of God to go out. We're so grateful. Michael, we're thankful for you. Also, we have a podcast network at truthnetwork.com. You can find out. You can listen to previous programs. Maybe you missed a segment we did.
You can listen to it there. Happy Memorial Day. Happy Memorial Day weekend. Let's be mindful. Let's be in prayer. Let's give spiritual encouragement to many who need it as we interact with people.
Maybe folks we don't normally see cookouts out and about. Seize the moment. Redeem the time. The days are evil. Life is a vapor. You've got new graduates that are graduating. It's the wedding season.
It's the graduate season. There are funerals you didn't plan on attending. Use every moment to interject God's Word to be a witness for people. Because there are two things you can see with your eyes that last forever. The Word of God and people. So how are we getting the Word of God to people? I just love what the Bible... Michael, I'll always be supporting you, man. Even if I ever get out of radio and go into something else or do something, I'm always going to be supporting the Bible because I absolutely love what you're doing.
Because there's no greater cause and we will see, when our faith becomes sight one day, we will see the amazing impact of the Bible league in heaven. So bless you, my brother. You too, Steve. Thanks so much.
