You're listening to the Truth Network and TruthNetwork.com. The Holy Spirit is moving on the college campus across America. One of the guys in the heart of that who's leading people to Christ, who's baptizing people, is Doug Elks.
He's preparing for a 100-mile marathon in Jerusalem. He's preaching to these young people. Doug, what's God doing in your life, man?
Talk to me. Man, Stu, I appreciate you, man. I'm always so encouraged whenever I get around you, man.
Proverbs 27, 17, iron sharpens iron. I love spending time with you, man, but we've just been so grateful to just see God answer prayers. We've been praying as a ministry, Colossians 4, 3, that God would boldly open doors for the gospel.
He's been doing it. We've been traveling around to middle schools, high schools, college campuses, and we've just been seeing God move in powerful ways. I think what it really is, man, people are ready for the truth. There is one truth, and I know you guys talk a lot about it on this network, is Jesus Christ. He stands apart from everything else that the world has to offer because He is the true way that only can bring peace and real freedom and ultimately salvation from sin. So, man, we've been excited to share that message, the simple message of the gospel, the good news of Jesus. It's really good news that Jesus came down from heaven to lay His life down so that we could be forgiven of our sins. So, I think when we present that message, people hear it, and they are drawn to it.
The Holy Spirit draws them as we lift up the name of Jesus, and we've been really excited to see that all across the world. Let's talk about this generation because so many older fuddy does like me are like, oh, be really careful. Don't talk about sexuality. Don't talk about the hard call of the gospel. Don't get too much into Jesus.
Just kind of nice your way through it. But these kids want the raw truth. These kids want you to be, they're looking for authenticity.
Talk about that. Man, I'll tell you, we were just recently at a Courts for Christ event on the coast of North Carolina, and before I got to share the gospel, they allowed some students to share testimonies. And I'll be honest, man, the stuff that they were sharing were real things. I mean, people harming themselves, struggling with obesity, anxiety, depression, thoughts of suicide. These are things that high school people are going through, and so we need to bring the truth. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. That's John 10. But Jesus comes to bring life to the fullest, and so we need to know that there is a spiritual battle going on, and it's real. The youth in Gen Z is not exempt from that battle. In fact, I believe the enemy wants to terrorize them even more, and so we have to stand up, and we have to fight the good fight of faith. Wow, and you're here to share Christ with a bunch of students tonight at Wake Forest University, some kids on fire for the Lord there, some athletic kids with Athletes in Action, and I have a good buddy, Joe, over there. And you always travel with a partner. I love that.
Jesus sent the disciples out two by two for a reason. Tell us why that's important and tell us who this cat is. We'll get him to say something.
Let's go. Yeah, I'm so grateful for my friend Frank Simi, who's here with me. He's been such a blessing to my life. His whole family has been such a blessing to me.
And man, like you said, it's important for us to go out together. He holds me accountable. He encourages me. He helps me see some blind spots that I can't see, and we all have blind spots. None of us are perfect, and so he helps me in that way. But he's also such an encourager and really just covers me in prayer, and he provides a lot of value in the way that he serves. And he has a unique calling on his life, and we're able to share a lot of what we do on social media, which is where Gen Z spends a lot of time. And so our callings have collided in such a way where God has brought us together to fulfill the Great Commission and to be a part of that.
And so I'm thankful for him and excited to have him here along. It's amazing. This segment will play on my show nationwide on Saturday on 200 plus affiliates.
But the podcast may reach more people, right? Tell us your passion, brother, and what's it like hanging out with this guy here, Big Doug? Goodness. Okay.
Well, I wasn't prepared for this. Honestly, I'm usually behind the camera, so this is new for me. But also, I think God has been calling me to surrender to him. And I think for a long time, God has been calling me specifically to even step out and tell other people's stories because other people's stories have greatly impacted me. And I just want to be able to take that blessing that God has given me and bless other people with that. So I think what that looks like is surrendering.
And I've always seen surrender as maybe failure or falling short or I can't do this, you know? And so that being said, I've realized that God has shown me that surrender is actually perfect freedom. And so, yeah, walking around with Doug and stepping into what God's called me to do and helping Doug do what he's called to do, it's an absolute blessing. And God is absolutely... He's really good. He's so good.
Yeah. And don't worry about being shy on this radio show because you can't see the hundreds of millions of people that are listening right now. So don't worry.
You have no fear. Doug, wrap us up by challenging people to be intentional about the gospel. Our food just got here. We're at this cool restaurant on a patio in Winston-Salem right here on Rinaldo Road near the campus of Wake Forest Village Tavern. Classic place here. Just doing this interview.
That's why there's a little ambient noise. My buddy Val Elliott's over there. He's part of Christian Camp, Haines, YMCA. So many neat things God's doing through your ministry. Challenge us on being intentional about the gospel in these last days. So many people haven't heard yet.
Yeah. Well, you know, the verse that the Lord has been really convicting me with and putting on my heart is Proverbs 27 and 1. Do not boast about tomorrow for you to not know what a day may bring.
You know, that's one of the things the enemy tries to do is deceive us and make us think that we have something guaranteed that we don't actually have. And that is tomorrow. Today is the day to share the gospel. Today is the day to call your mom, your dad, your cousin, your kids, the people you work with, and let them know that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and that he wants a relationship with us. Now is the day of salvation. Now is the acceptable time. Praise the Lord.
Thank you for what you guys are doing to share the gospel. Friends, learn more about Doug. Meet him on social. Meet him on his YouTube channel. It's going nuts.
It's going viral. This guy, he's about five foot one. He has no muscles. He's never worked out.
He's never shot the basketball in his life. Doug, what's the website, all that stuff, man? Aimmissions.com is our ministry website. You can find us on Instagram and all socials at Doug Elks. And we're so thankful for you, man. Thank you so much. And when you do hit an NBA three in front of all the kids and share the gospel, what do you say after you hit that three? Glory to God.
