Truth Matters 38

Today on Truth Matters with Dr. Cheryl Davis, she continues her series on The Signs of the Time, God's Roadmap of Navigating Through Life. One of the primary signs of the end time is Matthew 24, 14. And the gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Many in the church see this happening now through the technology of mass communications, including the internet and social media.

And of course, the COVID-19 pandemic and economic shutdown has caused many to stop and think about spiritual matters. Not knowing what might come next have some believing that the rapture of the church could be on the horizon and the beginning of the great tribulation years just around the corner. Between now and the beginning of the tribulation years, there are biblical signs yet to come. Some of the signs would be the rapture of the church, a one-world government, the introduction of a new global monetary system, and the revealing of the antichrist.

What we see happening in the world today could be the beginning of these things happening. Jesus said in Matthew 24, 32 that when you see the fig tree starting to bloom, then you will know that summer is near, meaning that judgment is coming soon. Some in the church believe the tree is beginning to bloom and that the rapture of the church and judgment of the nations is near. Others believe that the coronavirus outbreak and shakeup in the economy is God's warning and wake-up call for the nations to repent and for the born-again church to get ready to meet her groom. I heard a pastor a couple of years ago preach a message entitled, Don't Miss the Next Wave. He preached that it was his belief that there would be one more wave of revival in this nation, and after that the rapture would occur.

There are a lot of ideas surrounding this current pandemic and what purpose does it serve in regards to the church, the Christian, and to the non-Christian. The Bible says in Hebrews chapter 13 verse 8, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The message of Jesus Christ has not changed since the beginning of time.

Though the method may be different, the message is still the same. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father except through him, as stated in John chapter 14 verse 6. Through time, God has given signs and wonders as a way of guiding, revealing, and showing his people what is and what lies in the future.

Without these signs, it would be like driving across an unknown country without road signs, a GPS, a road map, or points of interest to guide the way. In Matthew 24 and 25, Jesus reveals through signs much of the last days by giving signs and symptoms of the last days. Among these are wars, rumors of war, earthquakes in various places, pestilences, which is widespread disease, such as we are experiencing with the coronavirus pandemic, deceivers, pretenders who claim to follow Jesus, the reemergence and prominence of the nation of Israel 72 years ago, God's prophetic clock for the end time. Other signs Jesus gave in Matthew 24 is that wickedness and hatred would greatly increase as it was in the time of Noah.

The reemergence of demigods, which are half human, half God, persons who are demonically controlled, strong delusions, a reprobate mind, or persons who believe lies instead of truth, a one-world government, a one-world leader who is the antichrist, and an associate known in Scripture as the false prophet. The antichrist will be given absolute power over the nations by use of technology, global economics, and military might for seven years just prior to the return of Jesus. While this leader will use technology to accomplish his or her purposes, God and the church have also been active in using this same technology to reach the nations with the gospel. We have recently learned of a quiet move of God on the internet called the Great Quarantine Revival, where millions around the world are turning to God during the coronavirus pandemic.

Ministries that are live streaming their worship services are reporting large increases in the number of people who are logging on to watch. As many in the world are afraid and living in suspense of what is happening at this tumultuous time in history. A poll conducted by the Joshua Fund back in March found that 43% of all respondents say yes, we are experiencing a wake-up call from God. When God opens the door to judgment, he often leaves a window open for redemption for those willing to repent.

God is not willing for any to perish, but the signs before us today point to the end of the age and the return of Jesus.
