Live from the Liberty University studio in Memphis, Tennessee, it's common sense conservative commentary from Todd Starr. That's us, that's right, I love this American ride. And hello America, I'm back. good to have you with us today and thank you so much for hanging out with us all week and i want to thank all of our great friends harry hurley mary walter and our good buddy jeff cats they did a terrific job filling in and you guys were incredibly incredibly kind to them so thank you all very much uh had to take a couple of days off and good to get a little bit of r&r uh but we've got a busy show lined up for you today. Also, it's Friday, so two things are happening every Friday to all of our new listeners of the program.
We have what we call Open Line Friday.
Now, this is the opportunity for you to call in, and you get to talk about whatever is on your mind, whatever is gnawing at your craw, we will talk about today. Also, in the last half hour of the program we're going to be doing some trivia and this is pretty exciting elvis week coming up in memphis so we're going to have some elvis andy griffith and i love lucy trivia for you and a chance for you to win some great prizes and uh our good buddy aiden pettett will be joining us he was getting some fan mail uh already and so we're glad to have him back also congressman David Kostoff is here. He has a new op-ed in Breitbart, and we're going to be talking to him about this op-ed regarding Israel.
So look, I've been getting flooded, flooded with messages, and we're going to go through this, and we're going to work through this together here, ladies and gentlemen. There's been a lot of scuttlebutt on social media just out there from people wondering what is going on are we are you they're concerned they feel like the the trump campaign has lost the big mo uh there is uh there is concern that maybe just maybe uh things are starting to slow down and that kamala and tim waltz are about ready to pick up steam now i want to go back to something that we talked about several weeks back. And I get complaints every now and again and say, Starnes, why do you keep reminding people of what you've said? And the reason why is because we have short-term memory loss in this country.
So I told you that there was going to be a series of things happening.
So over the next little while, and I would say the next month or so, we are going through a political roller coaster.
Now, Kamala Harris and the Democrats are going to get a bump, and they got a bump when Tim Walts was announced as the running mate. I told you, prepare yourself. Two weeks ago, I said, prepare yourself because Kamala Harris will get another bump when she names her VP, and then when the Democrats meet in Chicago, there is going to be another bump for the Democrats. And then I think we're going to start to see where we really are and how the race is shaping up. But there are some concerns from some of you out there.
And I want to hear from you on this. And I will give you the overarching this is where we are. I will say this. You should not be panicking. You should be out there campaigning.
So any sort of feeling you may have of dread, you should use that. And that should that should fuel a fire for you to get out there and go door knocking. Put a Trump flag out on your front yard. Put a Trump sign in front of your business. Put a Trump magnetic sticker on the back of your car.
You've got to get out there and you've got to do your part. Every single one of us, We just have to we have to have this mentality that we are 20 points behind in the polls. But I've been getting these messages and several people on social media have been weighing in of prominence. And I think there may be something to this.
So Trump did a great job yesterday at the press conference at Mar-a-Lago. He stood there for 70 minutes without a teleprompter, without any notes. There were no prepared questions. Trump was just calling on reporter after reporter after reporter. Every single reporter who asked a question, they got an answer from Donald Trump.
They may not have liked the answer, but he stood there and he took it.
Now, here is my takeaway, and I knew the media was going to jump on this because today there's always hard of hearing. You couldn't hear any questions.
Well, I actually know some people that were in the room, and they said the acoustics in that room were horrible. that everybody was having a hard time hearing.
So this is not some sort of a Trump has lost his hearing because of the shooting, and therefore he's not qualified to be president. That has nothing to do with it at all. As a matter of fact, what really impressed me in my takeaway from that, first of all, Trump, his mind is sharp. He is funny as all get out. And the media, they're a bunch of losers who don't have a sense of humor.
And they hate the man. But it's interesting that Donald Trump can get out there and take all these questions, 70 minutes, holding a news conference. Kamala Harris, Kamala Harris can't even stand two minutes.
So there's something going on there, and I'm going to get to that in just a little while. But I'm getting all these notes from people saying, Todd, the campaign, there's something not right with the campaign. The candidate is doing his job, but the campaign is not doing their job. That seems to be the complaint here. And I'll give you a great example of that from yesterday.
Who in the world thought it was a good idea to put Donald Trump in a room with horrible acoustics? By the way, you could not hear any of the questions that were nobody could. If you were watching the press conference on TV, nobody could hear what they were asking. There were horrible acoustics. The Trump-Vance campaign imagery, there was nothing there.
Nothing to tell you this is a presidential campaign that we are right in the middle of. Nothing. That's on the campaign. Who organized that? That's on the campaign.
Now, a lot of people are out there saying, well, you know, we don't see where there are any, there's no place to go for Trump signs or there's no local field or ground game. We just, there are no commercials, and people are saying, and I want to know from you, are you seeing any Trump commercials being played on TV or on the radio in your communities? Are you seeing those ads playing? I can tell you in Memphis, we're seeing wall-to-wall Kamala Harris ads, but I haven't seen a single Trump ad in Tennessee. Have you seen any of those commercials?
And if so, I'd like to hear from you. um are you do you know where you can go locally to volunteer to work phone banks or your local communities is your local republican party organizing phone banks what's happening there and so there are there are diehards like laura loomer and a lot of people don't like laura loomer i like her she's got spunk i mean she is out there she is ferocious she loves our president And when Laura Loomer is out there sounding the alarm bells saying, hey, Trump is not being well served by his campaign, that is an issue that we need to look at. But this has nothing to do with Donald Trump. His job is to be the candidate. There are professional political operatives who are supposed to run everything else.
That's what I'm trying to say here.
So a lot of people are just concerned. Folks, this is a marathon. We've got a long way to go between now and November. And the reality is at this stage of the game, people are taking their final vacations. They're getting the kids enrolled in school.
There are a lot of other things happening right now. And people are just not paying attention to what's going on. Their attention is elsewhere. And that's fine. That is fine.
But I will say this. we cannot underestimate what the Democrats are about to do to us. And hear me on this. Most Americans do not get their news from Fox or Newsmax. Most Americans get their news from ABC, CBS, and NBC.
Most Americans still get their news the old-fashioned way. That's how most Americans, and by the way, when I say most Americans, those are the people most likely to go out and vote on election day.
So here's what the Trump-Vance campaign is up against. Not only are they up against members of their own party, and this is a big challenge here because you have folks like the Never Trumpers, you've got the establishment Republicans, you've got a lot of folks out there that are fighting Donald Trump. Not only does he have to deal with those people, But he also has to deal with the mainstream media. And you cannot underestimate their ability to create a narrative and have that narrative stick. But I'm telling you, this Tim Walz pick is a bad, bad pick.
And it's so bad, one of two things happened. either Obama who is pulling all of the strings either Obama is is is trying to shiv Kamala Harris in the back with this horrible VP pick or or and hear me on this all of this is intentional all of it is when you go back to 2020 the Kamala Harris pick made absolutely no sense none whatsoever there were plenty of other dei candidates that that would have been much more effective that would have hit the base much harder and the base would have embraced on the democrat side than kamala harris but kamala harris when when you look at her when you study who she is you know a lot of the stuff that we think is word salad really is not word salad a lot of it is Marxist lingo and jingoism.
So is it possible that Kamala Harris was actually put on the ticket for such a time as this, for a moment when they knew that Joe Biden was not going to be able to go the distance? We all knew that. And they had Kamala Harris there as the patsy. that could be the other option here and so tim waltz is actually now to the left of kamala harris you have one of the most dangerous political tickets in american history and that's why this election is so vitally important this will determine the fate of our republic ladies and gentlemen all right we're going to take a break here we got a lot of audio to get through of some thoughts about Trump. And honestly, I just thought it was a great press conference.
It was a funny press conference. If you actually listen to it, we've got a couple of clips. We'll play from that 901-260-5926. Again, 901-260-5926. This is the Todd Stearns Show.

901-260-5926, open line Friday. David in Arkansas listening to us on KWAM. Hi, David. What's on your mind?
Well, I was looking this morning. There was an article come out on CNBC, NBC if you want to call it that, Trump plans a light campaign schedule until the 22nd. I think that is wrong. In the article, it details that his, compared to what he did in 2016, he held 20-something rallies in 2016. And this go around, he's only held one in the last week.
And I think, I don't know, you said that the campaign's in charge. He's in charge of the campaign. And he ought to be telling these people, you work for me and you get out there and hustle. I can't even get a Trump sign. I don't even know where to even get one.
and I'm here in Arkansas, and I know it's a safe red state, but still there are people here that will not vote for it. That's all signed, but I can't even get a sign. David, I don't know what's going on. Yeah, I feel your pain there, my friend. I live in Memphis, and I'm going to have to go.
Somebody just sent me a note. The Tipton County Republican Party, they're actually going to be selling Trump signs, so I'm going to have to drive up to Tipton County, Tennessee, to get myself a Trump sign. And it's to your point, though, so you're telling me that you can't even, in your area, you're not hearing anything. Are you seeing any Trump TV ads, any radio ads? Nothing.
And what concerns me is he made a comment back there when he was president the first time that he was just kind of offhanded comment that he wasn't going to be president when the House of Cards collapsed. and, you know, he's talked about there's a Great Depression. He even said yesterday there's a great possibility of a Great Depression. I'm kind of wondering if he doesn't want that sink attached to him, and maybe he's not quite as gung-ho as he used to be about jumping back into this race, and, you know, it makes you wonder. I think the question here, and again, this is, you know, the rallies are huge, and I see the rallies as being incredibly important, but is that the strategy to only do these campaign rallies?
If that is the only strategy, I'm not sure that is a winning strategy. It says here in this article, this month, Trump, this is 2016, he held 27 longest campaign rallies across 15 states.
So far this month, he's only held one.
So what's going on here?
Well, Trump says, and they were asked why he was going to win. was not campaigning this week. And he said, because I'm leading up by a lot and because I'm letting their convention go through and I am campaigning a lot.
So that may be it. We just can't lose the big mo, the big and the big mo is momentum. We've got to keep that up. And it's look, it's a marathon. And again, I heard what you said about Trump, but the reality is Trump is, is not a career politician.
He's just not. That's why he hires those people to run the campaign. And again, going back to yesterday, it was a great example. There never should have been a press conference in that room because it made Trump look like he was hard of hearing and he's not hard of hearing. It was just the acoustics were so bad.
There was no campaign imagery. There was no sign on the platform that says text here to sign up for the campaign. and and those are things that the campaign staff needs to be doing david but he but he controls them he he runs he runs the show he ought to be able to say hey i don't i'm not doing what i was doing let's get out there and hustle let's get after it i don't see that i don't see what do you want trump to do what do you think he ought to be doing right now i think he ought to be right like he's 24th behind that's what he ought to be doing that's what exactly what he ought to be doing he ought to be out there shaking every tree every bush everything else for votes and and i don't see that i think he thinks he's ahead and he's not he can't be taken taken down these the democrats are uh are are relentless and they're not going to stop and if you're sitting on your butt they're going to beat you well no doubt about that and and i and again david i appreciate the call it's important to put everything in context people are saying tom what about the big crowd Should we be worried about Kamala's big crowds? No, we should not be. And the reason why is those crowds are, first of all, they're manufactured.
Many of the people in those crowds are not coming to see Kamala. They're coming to see whoever she brought up as a musical artist. That's just the reality of it. Also getting reports that some of the images coming out of her campaign rallies that she's been having are actually fabricated.
So they've been photoshopped.
So you can't buy into a lot of that. But again, the media is advancing this narrative, and it's going to be very easy for people to get sucked into what's happening here. But the question is, is that the right strategy? Should Trump just, you know, take a vacation or take time off the campaign trail while the Democrats have their convention? All right, we've got to take a break here.

So the folks running the Olympics, the International Olympic Committee, they are they're having some difficulties here um of course all the blowback between the two men who beat the living snot out of those women in the uh the boxing competitions now the president of the ioc is throwing his hands up in the air and he says well look there's just no way no way for us to know scientifically how to figure out what a woman is that we have said from the very beginning. If somebody is presenting us scientifically a solid system how to identify men and women, we are the first ones to do it. We do not like this uncertainty. We do not like it for the overall situation for nobody.
So we would be more than pleased to look into it.
So, look, I think the guy's from France or wherever. Anyway, it doesn't really matter, except that if the guy really is from France and the French can't tell us what a woman is, we're screwed, ladies and gentlemen. But I just want to offer the Todd Starnes, call me Professor Starnes, ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to try to help out all of the youngsters, the urchins of America, who are listening to this radio program and being educated today. If you need to know whether or not you are a woman, just drop your pants. And if there's a little ding-dong, ding-dong it around down there, then you're a dude.
And if you're not, you're a woman. It really is that simple. Just look down your pants and you can pretty much figure it out for yourself. Or if you're the French, just look up their skirt. All right, 901-260-5926.
A lot of folks wanting to weigh in on the campaign. Let's go to Kim in North Carolina, WTKF. Kim, what's on your mind? Hey, thank you for taking my call, Todd. I think the Republicans need to get a global picture here.
Democrats never criticize Democrats. They'll say, oh, this is what the person meant. They don't criticize them. Republicans are like watchers. They pick their own apart.
We need to get supportive. And if everybody can't say, well, why isn't Donald Trump doing more? The question is, what are you doing to help Donald Trump win? And so the Republicans need to get behind Donald Trump if they want him to win. They need to get their own ground game.
They need to help get the message out and quit just depending on Donald Trump to carry the whole weight of the Republican Party. It's a great point, Kim. I would have to say that the campaign needs to look in the mirror on this as well. We need all hands on deck. And I know, look, I know there's bad blood between Trump and Brian Kemp.
I get that. But we've got to put that aside because we have a much bigger issue. And the issue is not Brian Kemp right now. The issue is stopping these Marxists. And we need the state of Georgia.
We need North Carolina. And you're right. we've got a lot of petty Republicans out there that will stay home simply because they don't like Trump's attitude or his clever jokes. But the problem is, it's like I told somebody the other day, if you stay home, that is a vote for your opposition. Absolutely.
The only way you can protect America, the only way you can hope to have America for our children is to get out and vote.
So your choices are to vote Republican, which upholds the democracy, or you can vote socialism. Those are your two choices. A choice of sitting home is not an option. And the problem is nobody on the media, no pun intended to you, Todd, but nobody on the media, they say, well, Trump said this, but he should have said that. He said this.
Why don't they do like the Democrats? When the Democrats say something stupid, the media goes, oh, you did not understand that. This is what they meant. This is what they meant. And so if sometimes somebody has a slip and says something that is not interpreted correctly, instead of saying, they should have said it this way, why don't you say, well, what they really meant was this.
Kim, I don't care. Kim, let me give you an example. All right, Dylan, do we have the earlobe? You know the earlobe audio? Find that, and let's get it.
We've got it. But Donald Trump was talking about his getting hit in the ear. And he was making a joke about it. Do we have it? Yes, no, we don't have it.
All right. Anyway, we'll get it, Kim. But the whole point of that was he says he was talking about his earlobe. But everybody's going crazy over that. The man was making a joke.
They were too stupid to not get it. and the broader issue there kim is this guy is working without any script without any notes without any teleprompter unlike the democrats i totally agree with you and that's what i'm saying we have got to help support him instead of constantly naysaying everything he's doing because our choices right now are cut and dry socialism or democracy and we've got to make a choice that's it that is the choice period all right kim god bless you and it's a great thought great comment uh let's go to elaine in georgia listening to us on wtun hi elaine what's on your mind hello elaine all right let's go to william in north carolina hi william what's on your mind north carolina's got some ads with donald trump but they're on the negative side and for me todd that's a big turnoff wait wait wait wait so you're wait so the the trump ads are negative ads so they're not coming from the trump campaign are they well they're negative in the way that he is bashing kamala we all know that kamala is a bad person we all know that we don't need to hear it We don't need to see it. We already know that. That's what I meant by negative campaign ads. I think Donald Trump needs to get out there and glad hand everybody, like the man said earlier.
He needs to campaign like for the very first time he's ever campaigned.
Now, we know what the man did from 2016 to 2020. Ask yourself that question. the times that we were in in 2016 and 2020 and the times that we're in now from 2020 to 2024 are you better off on the first four years or the year the first or the four years that we've been dealing with now it's simple cut and dry like the woman earlier you know that's the way i'm looking at it here it's time to quit this negative crap we're tired of hearing it we're tired of seeing it we need to get together and get behind that man and he needs to get behind us and i i think he's doing some of it but he needs to get out in the public more and start shaking everyday people's hands all right william appreciate that and um we'll we'll open it up and and see what our audience says about that um william says more retail politic and shaking hands kissing babies? Is that the way to go and to shy away from the attack ads? Look, here's the thing.
I think the ads that I have seen circulating on social media have been incredibly powerful. And Trump has done a really great job. There's one that talking about inflation, there were no words. It was just people ringing up and the beeping at the grocery store. Those kinds of ads need to be running around the clock on tv and radio 901-260-5926 let's go to charles in north carolina wsic our great affiliate there hi charles what's on your mind hey todd todd i seen a lot of trump ads around the charlotte area here and they very effective they about the illegal immigration he got some good ads on the economy and i think that uh he should run these negative ads against kamala and her record on immigration on the economy on crime but i also think he needs to promote himself and what he's going to do is uh is an alternative because uh todd we're only going to get one bite at the apple here.
I mean, like Donald Trump has said, and you said in your book, Twilight's Last Slinging, this 2024 is the final battle, I feel like. And if we lose this election, I'm not too sure we're going to be able to vote our way out of it in 2028. We may have to end up shooting our way out of it. But this isn't just a battle for our country. It's a battle for Western civilization.
It's good versus evil, right versus wrong. But I tell you, I'm concerned about the campaign. And one thing I'm concerned about is I think Trump needs to be insistent that Kamala debate him on September the 4th on Fox. And if she refuses to do that, I don't think he should debate her on September the 10th, because if he does, I think he's walking into a trap. They're setting low expectations for her.
All she's got to do is answer a few questions. And you know, the moderators are going to, you know, have the debate rigged in favor of Harris. and I just think he needs to lay the ground rules and not let her dictate what the debate's going to be because she hadn't earned it. He has. I just think it is fascinating that here we are, what, 18, 19 days now since Kamala Harris announced that she was going to be running.
She has not earned a single vote. This was all given to her in smoky, dark rooms. She has not had to face a full-blown press conference or sit-down interview and nobody in the mainstream media is even remotely bothered by that fact as a matter of fact you've got folks out there like nancy pelosi and and they're saying well you know she really doesn't need to be doing any interviews so it could very well be that you could have a woman win the presidency by never having to sit down never having to face hard questions about what she does and does not believe and that's the reality we're in right now, and that tells me that something else is going on here, and it's almost as if Kamala Harris is not being elected as much as it is she is being installed as the next president. Exactly, installed just like a toilet and selected, and so much for the party of democracy, but I feel like I think Trump needs to do, Todd, and I've said this before. He needs to take his message to these areas where there's suburban women, minorities, young people, and he needs to reach across the aisle.
Those are the people he needs to win, the independents. And you need to talk about the economy. You need to talk about the southern border and crime and how the last four years have been a living hell for all three of suburban women, for minorities, for independents, and just how unsafe we are. If he sticks on that message, don't get tied down calling her names. Don't say she's got a small brain.
None of that stuff. Just focus on policy, he can win this election. And he's going to have to thread the needle here because he's got every levers of power against him. And it's going to take everything we have to win this. But we cannot lose this election.
It'll be the end of it. This is it. Charles, got to run. Thank you for that call. This is it, ladies and gentlemen.
This is the inflection point that I wrote about in Twilight's Last Gleaming. This is the moment, and the decision is going to be very, very clear. Do we embrace freedom, or do we embrace and chain ourselves to Marxism? I mean, it really is that simple. We haven't covered what's been happening over in the UK a lot this week, and I've been out, but I've been following the developments there, and that entire nation is now on the verge of civil war.
Right now, you have a situation where people are literally being arrested simply for speaking their mind on social media. The British are dispatching police and law enforcement, and they are arresting people for opposing the Islamification of their country. They're literally being thrown into jail. There are people fighting in the streets, and the police are standing alongside the Muslim radicals. You can't make this up.
I'm telling you, folks, this is insane. And if you think it's bad, if you think it's bad there, I want you to hear this clip. This is from Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota. And he is basically affirming what's happening over in the U.K. Cut 14.
I think we need to push back on this. There's no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech, and especially around our democracy.
So my question is, who gets to determine what is and what is not hate speech? Because right now you have a large swath of people in the alphabet activist community, and they truly believe that what your preacher preaches out of the Holy Bible is hate speech on Sunday morning in your church house.
so you better believe that people like tim waltz and all right do you remember the movie red dawn not the modern day remake crap that was a crap movie i'm talking about the one back in the 80s red dawn do you guys remember that movie remember who the a lot of people say who that the russians were the bad guys in that movie the russians weren't the bad guy you know who the bad guy in that movie was. It was the mayor of that town, Spokane, that mayor was at Spokane, Washington. It was the mayor of that town who ratted out all of his fellow citizens. I'm getting, I'm getting that sort of a vibe with Tim Waltz. This is the sleazeball that will turn us all over to the Marxist.
This is the guy, Tim Waltz, by the way, he's the same guy during the China virus pandemic who was urging people to rat out your neighbors peek into their windows what are they doing are they having a party are they wearing their mask if not give us a call let us know this guy's super super creepy and not because of what he apparently likes to drink allegedly if you don't know what i'm talking about just just google tim waltz and horse and you'll see the stories. All right. Hang tight. We've got to take a quick break. And again, if you know in your neighborhood, folks, your communities, if you know where folks can get Trump signs, let us know.
We want to be able to pass along that information. 901-260-5926. That's 901-260-5926. This is the Todd Stern Show. Did you know that oil, coal and natural gas are not the climate villains that the legacy media asks us to believe that they are?
Did you know that 8 billion people will eat just today because fossil fuels ran the sophisticated machinery that produced all the food necessary to do so? Or how they power the complex heating and cooling systems to keep people alive through extreme temperatures? What would you do without AC or heat? Fossil fuels have literally been the hero in the prevention of billions of deaths and the extension of life. I'm Calvin and I want you to know the facts.
Please go to oilfacts.com and get educated today on these critical facts, the need for American energy and what we can do to keep billions more catastrophic deaths from happening. These facts are irrefutable. Oilfacts.com. That's oilfacts.com. These facts are brought to you by Prairie Operating Group, dedicated to safe and responsible production of American energy.

Say hello to our good friend, my Congressman, David Kostoff. Congressman, hope you're doing well today. Hey, Todd. Good afternoon. Thank you for having me on today.
So, Congressman, are you back in the district or are you up in Washington?
Well, I'm traveling to USA today. I'll be back in our district on Sunday. And I've been in and around West Tennessee the last week talking, but really doing a lot of listening. And people, you know, they're concerned. They're concerned about the things that we talk about a lot, about the border, about the state of the economy.
And now they're really dialed into this presidential race.
Well, yeah, there's a lot going on. All that to say, if you're in D.C., I'm glad you're not because you need a boat to get around. But the weather is very nice back here. And the weather is very nice in Memphis today. Congressman, I want to jump into this.
Tim Waltz is making and generating a lot of very nasty headlines. This story coming out of the Washington Examiner that as governor on at least five occasions, Tim Waltz hosted a Muslim cleric who celebrated Hamas's October 7th attack last year and also promoted a film popular among neo-Nazis that glorifies Adolf Hitler. I'm wondering who's doing the vetting over at DNC headquarters.
well todd you know there there are reasons that uh that governor shapiro for example was not chosen to be the the vp candidate and anti-semitism has to be one of those factors when you consider the pushback that that the vice president got from the far left progressive people in in her party I mean, you heard President Trump the other day talk about Waltz being selected, and I think if he were selecting or you or I were selecting somebody for Harris to choose as the VP candidate, it would probably be Waltz. But anti-Semitism factors in, and to hear what you just said about Governor Walz and the meetings he's taken and their views on anti-Semitism, it's not surprising, but it really is saddening. I mean, for people in this country to promote those type of views and ideals, they shouldn't be running towards them. The Harris's and the Walt's should be running away from them. A thousand percent.
And I don't think they are because I think I suspect that they share very similar ideology. I know you've got an exclusive column over at Breitbart, and you're just really honing in on this fact that Israel needs strong leadership in the White House. Tell me about your column. Yeah, well, thank you very much. Thank you very much, Todd.
So I'm one of two Jewish Republicans in the House of Representatives, myself and Max Miller from Ohio. and last year I had been appointed to to be the chairman of something called the House Knesset Friendship Group which is a group of Republican and Democrat congressmen to interact with the Knesset which of course is the Israeli parliament and as part of that I went to Israel about a month ago shortly before Prime Minister Netanyahu came to the U.S. to give his joint address to Congress. And it was good because I had meetings with Prime Minister Netanyahu, got to tour the areas where Hamas savagely attacked the Jewish people on October the 7th, and came away with some really strong understandings about Israel and their predicament. And the fact of the matter is is that while israel truly views the u.s as its greatest ally there can't be any disagreement that that the biden harris administration and i'm being kind on this has sent mixed messages not only to israel but to the world about our nation's support for israel and And it greatly concerns me.
I think it should concern anybody that cares about Israel's existence and her right to survive. Congressman, we've sort of been in a waiting, a watch-and-see mode, Iran threatening to launch massive attacks on Israel. Are you hearing any rumblings of where things now stand? Do they still fear those attacks are going to happen, or has that time come and gone?
Well, Iran is going to retaliate against Israel. There's not much uncertainty about that. They will retaliate in some form, whether it's in days or in weeks or whenever, because of the, if you will, the elimination of the terrorists on Iran's homeland that Israel took responsibility for a week or so ago.
So Iran will retaliate. And again, I think for anybody listening, Prime Minister Netanyahu said this in the joint address to Congress. not only is Iran Israel's enemy, they're of course our enemy. And he said in no uncertain terms that if Iran attacks Israel, make no mistake, they're going to come after the United States in some form or fashion at some point thereafter.
So we've got to be there to support Israel when Iran does attack Israel. We've got to be there to support Israel. We've got to retaliate, and we've got to make sure that Israel is protected. Congressman David Kostoff from Tennessee joining us and writing this op-ed in Breitbart that Israel needs strong leadership in the White House. My concern is what's happening right now.
I mean, who is actually running the government? Joe Biden seems to be out of it. Kamala Harris out on the campaign trail. You wonder who is ultimately calling those shots, And I suspect they're to the left of Joe Biden. They've got to be.
They've got to be tied. Bringing up Vice President Harris, you know, Vice President, they've got duties and responsibilities. One duty and responsibility is when there is a joint address to Congress by a foreign leader or the president gives an address to Congress, the VP helps to preside over that session. You know, you've seen it plenty of times, right, where the president or a foreign leader comes in, and behind the president, behind the foreign leader, you have the Speaker of the House, and you have the Vice President. And before Netanyahu spoke just a couple of weeks ago in that joint session of Congress, there have been, I think in the past three years, I think there have been six joint addresses from a foreign leader to Congress.
The VP, Harris, has presided over all those except for the one that Netanyahu gave a couple of weeks ago. And she chose to give up. Instead of being there, she went to a rally, I think, in Indiana, and she just abdicated her responsibility. And to me, you know, a picture sends a thousand words, right, that to not have her in that chair and have Ben Carton representing the Democrats. That's a front, not only to the nation, but certainly to the Jewish people and to Israel.
So who's calling the shots in the White House? I don't know. I mean, I think we're all concerned after the debate that we saw with Biden and President Trump at the end of June that the president has clearly diminished in how these decisions are being made. At some point in time, I'm sure we're going to find that out. But there's a real truth of leadership at the White House.
Well said.
Well, Congressman, we appreciate you coming on the program. I appreciate your strong commitment to the nation of Israel and also to the Trump platform. It's a winning platform. We just have to get out there and we've got to be campaigning like we're 20 points behind. We do have to, you know, you know this anytime.
And I think everybody listening, been a candidate at the local, state or federal level or whatever. If your name is on the ballot, whether you're ahead or whatever, you run like you're behind. And I know that President Trump knows that and understands that. But for anybody listening, whether you're in a swing state or whatever, you have got to go out and vote. And not only do you have to go out and vote, I would challenge everybody.
Take five people you know. That is not harsh. And call them, email them, text them, and make sure that they show up in November. That's it. All right, Congressman, appreciate you coming on the show today.
Have a great weekend. Safe travels. Thank you so much, Todd. Thank you for having me on today.
All right. Congressman David Kostoff happens to be my congressman out here in western Tennessee. And again, by the way, tomorrow, Saturday morning, 730, we're gathering. That's the gathering. And then I think we we kick off our big Trump motorcade caravan.
It's going to be so much fun. We'll be kicking that off around nine o'clock. A lot of people are going to be speaking. It's going to be so much fun and hope to see you and your family out there.
So, look, I got some some notes about Joe Rogan and wanted to wanted to offer a couple of thoughts on on Rogan for just a moment and humor me, if you will.
So Joe Rogan has become sort of a conservative darling on the social medias, one of the top podcasters in all of America. and he's one of the you know he's one of the guys guys and he's been out there and it's seemingly being a pro-Trump guy but now we're getting word that that is not the case as a matter of fact Rogan coming out on his podcast and saying that he would not be supporting Donald Trump instead he's going to be supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr. And then Tim Poole, who also has a major podcast, and we're talking about millions and millions of people that watch these podcasts. Tim Poole says that he will not be voting for Donald Trump either, and that he's going to be throwing his support behind Robert F.
Kennedy Jr. Now, look, ultimately, everybody's really upset, and they're saying, oh, this is horrible. How could they do this? They're stabbing Trump in the back, and people are losing it over all of this.
So first of all, let me just say something. Joe Rogan and Tim Pool can support whoever they want to support, right? It's America. If they want to support Trump, that's great. If they want to support RFK Jr., it's stupid, but okay, it's their right.
and the problem here is not joe rogan the problem is the conservative movement because we've got a big problem in the conservative world with uh the the hero worship anybody anybody who says anything remotely conservative oh they're jesus christ of the conservative movement we worship you and we see this all the time and and typically they'll roll these people out to speak at the rnc And it just happens every single election cycle. All you had to do was look at Joe Rogan's voting record and understand this guy is the farthest thing from a conservative. He backed Bernie Sanders for crying out loud.
So I'm not all I don't know why people are surprised, but I never jumped on board the Joe Rogan bandwagon. I mean, I I thought what he's what he had to say about Trump was great at the time. And I thought, well, good for you. But the problem is we don't let these people mature in their new political ideology. You know, they convert to the conservative way, and all of a sudden they become the official spokespeople for the movement.
It happens all the time. And by the way, there are a good many people in the talk radio world that do this, and they just love it. They'll have Joe Rogan on their shows, and I'm just not one of those guys. I want to make sure when I'm bringing somebody on this program that you know exactly where they stand on the issues. And again, if you want to listen to Joe Rogan's take on things, go listen to his podcast.
But again, the problem is not Joe Rogan or Tim Pool. The problem is the conservative movement. We keep putting these political converts up on these pedestals, and they worship them like they're, I don't know, Ronald Reagan coming back from the grave. oh and by the way and then when they stray when they stray from the party line they're like oh oh we've been betrayed how dare you no what did you expect and by the way all you evangelical christians out there you guys have the exact same problem with hero worship somebody accepts christ and the next thing you know they're billy graham and if you don't believe me i'm just i will ask this question as we go to break. How many churches have invited Kanye West lately to preach a revival meeting?
Just how many? Just asking. 901-260-5926. It is open line Friday. That's 901-260-5926.

All right, welcome back. Let's try to squeeze in a call here. Is it Elena in Georgia on WDUN? Hi, Todd. How are you?
I'm well, thank you.
So I was just calling.
Well, first of all, I watched the press conference yesterday, and I really enjoyed watching it. I noticed Trump mentioned again, Georgia, and the rally when they asked him about our governor. And I was glad to hear him say that, you know, he hoped they could work it out. But then going from that to the voting, I just want to say that I checked in our town and was looking for a place to maybe get signs. and I'm going to check out a place that opened up here in Athens.
And I've actually noticed a couple signs go up for Trump in areas that I had not seen before. But one thing I wanted to mention to you was back in the 2020 election, we saw Trump signs all over the state. We were taking pictures of the television screen that night when all the voting came in. And when they closed the polls that night, Trump was winning in a landslide.
So that's why when we woke up the next morning, everybody was so shocked. All right. Yeah. Elena, so I hate to do this. I've got to wrap it up.
My apologies. Computer's going to cut us off here. 901-260-5926, folks. This is The Todd Stern Show. Have you been to the airport lately?
I was, I'm getting ready to head back out. I've got another spurt of speeches and engagement.
So heading back to the airport.
Now, typically I fly Delta and it's the airline that I hate the least. I really don't like traveling. TSA just makes it so awful. You know what I mean? And the, no, I, and I get these complaints on Todd.
Now, Todd, They're just good American patriots, and they're just there to make you safe. Really?
Okay. As far as I know, to date, I don't believe a single terrorist attack has been thwarted by a TSA agent feeling up a grandmother. I just want to throw that out there for you. But it's just horrible. The whole experience, the prices, the passengers, people back in the day, and some of you old-timers will remember this.
Some of you boomers out there will remember that back in the 60s and the 70s, that airline travel was, I don't owe you. I would get dressed up. The men would wear suits and a tie, and the ladies would wear dresses. and people were polite and they didn't belch or fart or take their shoes off and pick their toenails. It was really a very pleasant experience flying around America.
And the flight attendants were drop dead beautiful and they were very attractive. And now it's all about, you know, I mean, you can. And again, I don't mean this in a disparaging way, but now you can have a a 300-pound flight attendant with body odor. And if you say anything about it, they'll throw you off the airplane.
So it's an all-around bad experience. You know, the food used to be really good. Food's getting better now. But anyway, so, but the TSA part of it is really bad because it's all a show. It's all theater.
They really don't make you safe. and of course there there's a whole generation now that grew up many of you i guess most gen zers were not even alive when 9-11 happened so you don't remember that you could just walk to the the gate there was maybe some security or a metal detector and that was it but it was much more relaxed but now when you look at what's happening at the airports you literally have to surrender all of your constitutional rights and put those in that little container as it goes through the machine and hope and pray that you walk through the other side you get your rights back and your freedom back but george w bush did all this by the way they called it what the patriot act is what they called it and i'd at the time i was one of the few conservatives in america and i mean one of the few conservatives in America who saw what a terrible, terrible idea this was. But that's where we're at right now. And so now to be able for an American citizen to board an airplane, you got to take your pants off and you have to get fondled by a total stranger. They don't send you flowers.
They don't give you a cigarette. They don't buy you dinner. And you have to do it in front of God and country.
Meanwhile, if you're an illegal alien, And literally, Border Patrol will give you a fist bump. And welcome to America.
So anyway, there was still some measure, some shred of courtesy and hospitality at Delta, where they would get on the intercom system and say, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Delta. Thank you for flying.
Well, now they're not going to do that anymore. the story up at toddstearns.com delta airlines will no longer say ladies and gentlemen and the reason why is they've got a chief diversity equity and inclusion officer some black chick and she says that saying ladies and gentlemen is not inclusive anymore who was it joyless reed over at msdnc was she saying that you can't say good morning because that's what the slave masters used to say back in the day.
So apparently saying good morning is now a racist. You could trigger somebody.
So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen, over at Delta. They will no longer allow any of their staff to say good morning, ladies and gentlemen. According to Kyra Lynn Johnson, who is the chief diversity, equity, inclusion and social impact officer the words are just not inclusive enough she said we're beginning to take a hard look at things like our gatehouse announcements you know we welcome ladies and gentlemen we've asked ourselves is that as gender as inclusive as we want it to be you know we're looking at some legacy language that exists in some of our employee manuals that's what they're calling it Now, legacy language and getting to the root of the way some things are described and saying, does that actually send a message of inclusivity?
Well, who else are you welcoming on board the plane? If you don't have any ladies or gentlemen, what do you have? A bunch of it's? A bunch of freaks? Just ask.
Just ask. So there you go. Apparently now, to be fully embraced in the woke agenda, you have to be impolite. And that's terrible. And by the way, what's even worse is the people flying your Delta jetliner may not even be qualified because now they are placing diversity ahead of actual ability.
And this is across the board that they're doing this over at Delta. You know, maybe I'm just going to have to get back to driving. As long as there's a Buc-ee's along the route, it should be okay. 901-260-5926 is our telephone number let's go to the phone lines connor in boston hi connor what's on your mind god a great show as always but i'm going to tell you right now um when it comes to tim waltz being the vice president uh pick from kamala harris this guy it's a slap in the face to our country and we need to remind every single republican every single conservative out there to get out to vote, the never-Trumpers, all the folks who don't like his mean tweets or anything like that. Otherwise, we're going to be living like this for another four years.
They're both a disgrace. I mean, this guy literally abandoned his unit to go over to war, and he also had a DUI where he was going over 90 miles an hour, which he only lost his license for 90 days. It's a disgrace, and that's not who we are as a country. Isn't it ironic, Connor, the Democrats have a DEI-DUI ticket? Literally.
And I'm also in a theory now. If any of the Republicans, like the Never Trumpers, don't go out to vote and don't support our great president, President Trump, and they complain about it, they're not going to have a right to do so. Because this world they're creating will be on that. And also, just real quickly, regarding Joe Rogan, I don't listen to Joe Rogan. I listen to real podcasts, real radio shows like this one.
Joe Rogan's got way too much estrogen going on for me. Oh, wow.
Well, you know, he's a little fella. He's a short fella. He's a little fella, a little bald fella, so I don't listen to him. You know, it's interesting, Connor. I am curious how many people in your age bracket, younger Americans, are influenced by people like Joe Rogan or Tim Pool, or if social media has just really hyperinflated their actual impact.
I think a lot of folks in my group, I think it's a trendy thing with Joe Rogan. and they also know him from fear factor. But I think once anybody who is relatively intelligent looks at it and looks at this guy, they know he's a fraud. There's nothing other than his ability to gain an audience on podcasts, really. Other than that, he has no substance to it.
It's a fair point, Connor. And, look, I'm with you. We've got to get everybody on board together. And my alarm bells go off when I see that we are unintentionally alienating voters that normally would get out and vote with great gusto and enthusiasm. And that concerns me.
I want to see the evangelical crowd, and I know many of them are still very upset over the changes that were made in the party platform. I get it. But the reality is this country is going to be a whole lot worse if we allow the Democrats to win. Got to. It's true, and we have to remember they are going to try to steal it again.
Voter fraud is a real thing, and we need every single person to get out there and vote for our great president, President Trump. It's a great word. We're going to take back our country. Yeah, no, it's a great word. Connor, appreciate that, and thank you for listening.
By the way, folks, this is kind of exciting. Write this down on your calendar. Coming up in September, September 2nd, John Rich hosting a big concert at UNC Chapel Hill. Remember, he said he was going to do this. They're calling it Flagstock 2024.
for John Rich, I believe Pfeiffer Fighting, Lee Greenwood, Aaron Lewis. They're going to be doing a big concert to honor and celebrate the UNC Chapel Hill Frat Bros who protected the American flag.
So well done, John Rich. What a great American patriot. All right, let's go to Gail in North Carolina, WTKF, our great station there. Hi, Gail. What's on your mind?
Hi. Long time no talk, Todd. How are you? I'm well. Thank you, Gail.
Good. I read your newsletter this morning about that Delta thing, and I was hysterical laughing. It's just so ridiculous, okay? We know that. But the thing is, I feel like when I got the Delta blue card so I get points so I could fly, and I'm like, oh, geez, what am I into now?
And then I got to have to fly on Delta. But I think the first time I go up there, I'm just going to go because I'm a good Christian person.
well hello there young lady aren't you lovely wow wow don't trigger him don't trigger him gail i might get thrown off the plane what do you think oh my gosh so gail this is look i'm i'm a huge delta guy i mean i literally more than a million miles so i'm a million miler plus uh boy i do the diamond medallion status so i do a lot of flying and i give them a lot of business and it's uh it really it's sad when you've got this kind of thing going down where this great company has been really impacted by the dei stuff and the fact that these people could not be totally qualified for the job that's a scary thing because if you have an emergency you want the best people out there oh my god yeah oh my god some of these flight attendants and i don't mean this in a negative way but some of these uh some of these flight attendants um the male flight attendants it's like watching a bravo tv show live in person it's like guys tone it down a little bit please please like you know the makeup and the hair and everything yeah definitely one of the guys do you want warm nuts i'm like hey appreciate the offer pal but uh i don't butter my biscuit that way oh god see i needed to give you a little laugh for the day even though it's so difficult i try to look at bright side dale you're great all right thanks for the call dale all right 901 260-5926 is our number that's 901-260-5926 it's open line friday uh folks want to give you a quick update on our big fundraising effort and if you subscribe to the newsletter i had a little story out today on this food for the poor i've been out for a couple of days and our donations they dropped a little bit so we need we need your help here we're doing this it's a full month that we are raising money for our friends at food for the poor the weekend about to start many of you just got your paycheck so i just want you to consider making a donation right now to helping rush food and clean drinking water to the poorest of the poor. We are helping to feed children in 17 nations in Latin America and the Caribbean. We're talking about children and families who have had their food cut off by record-setting inflation, skyrocketing food costs, and these huge natural disasters. And it's all happening right here in our hemisphere. Here's Paul Jacobs, Food for the Poor, updating us on just one of the places that they serve.
Here in Guatemala, we have visited families that go without the basics of life. We have seen the pain. Things have been opening up, but for many families, it still remains difficult. The work begins in your heart. There's a scripture that says in Galatians 2.10, all they asked was that we remember the poor.
We're asking you to remember the poor. Please make a difference right now. And this is what we're doing here, folks. This is a very practical way to show the love of Jesus by helping those less fortunate in our own hemisphere. And how can you do that?
Well, you can go to my website. At the very top, there is a Give Life banner right now at ToddStearns.com. You can make a donation. You can also text. Text my name, Todd, to 51555.
That's Todd to 51555. I just need 10 people right now to get out their phones and text Todd to 51555. And we're going to send you a link where you can make a generous gift. You're going to be feeding children and providing them access to clean water. You can also call in 855-353-4673.
That's 855-353-4673. And again, let's reach our goal, $20,000 for our friends at Food for the Poor. He said that he didn't want to endorse him, but David Perdue encouraged him to, so he did, and he got him elected the first time, right?
So he was saying, or Kemp was saying, I don't think we're going to win, and President Trump said, yes, yes, you are going to win, and Marty Kemp said, and he won the nomination. Then Marty Kemp, when he won the governorship, Marty Kemp said to him, I don't know how we can ever repay you.
So when they wanted to do, when the Georgia State House and everything wanted to pass the election integrity bill, he refused to sign it.
So President Trump sent somebody and he said he doesn't want to get involved.
So President Trump called him personally, and he told him he doesn't want to get involved.
So first of all, he didn't attack the First Lady of Georgia. He just relayed the story. Secondly, he feels betrayed, and I don't really blame him. And I just want to tell you a story about last night.
Somebody asked me, what do you think of J.D. Vance? I said well he was his estimation my estimation of him went up exponentially after I saw that video of him walking over to the reporters she said well why did he try to get on Air Force Two I said what who told you that she said the news I said you're still watching the news she said well where else am I going to get my news from I said try talk radio so that's it going on and eileen you just proved my point that i mentioned in the first segment of this program today is that very good solid decent people are still getting most of their news from the mainstream media it's a disgrace it really is and you know todd if if the democrats and the marxist uh side of them think that socialism and communism is so great why don't they just doubt that but instead they're like snakes they go through the back door their plan their so called I forget what you call it but their agenda is socialism slash communism but they come off like they're trying to save democracy and by the way President Trump said they say I'm a threat to democracy I'm trying to save democracy and he's 100 right oh anyway yeah yeah eileen i'm glad you did i gotta run we're coming up on a break here but there are great points you made there and and eileen is absolutely right here people the the threat to democracy is the democrat party right now these people are radicalized off the charts and i'm with trump i don't get it i don't see how you can be a jew and vote Democrats? You've got to be crazy. And you Christians?
I don't see how you can be a Christian and vote for this ticket. I really don't get it. All right. 901-260-5926. Open line Friday.
That's 901-260-5926. We'll be right back, folks. Live from the Liberty University studio in Memphis, Tennessee, it's America's favorite gun-toting, Bible-clinging, deplorable American. That's us, that's right. I love this American ride.
Todd Starr. Oh, yeah. All right. Hello, everybody. Happy to have you with us today.
You know, we forget a lot of times that these horrible, god-awful policies of the Democrats are just hurting so many people across the country, and especially people who are Gen Zers, people who are millennials, young business owners that are just trying to live that American dream, trying to cling to that American dream. And today somebody sent me this story. And by the way, before I get to that, I want to say a special hello to one of our big listeners. Her name is Tricia, and she drives around Memphis a lot. She lives out in the burbs and goes downtown, and she listens to KWAM.
Anyway, I was visiting a good friend, David Weimer, who is an American patriot. And if you're ever looking for jewelry in the Memphis area, Weimer's Jewelry, it is a family-owned patriotic jewelry store. Love those folks. And I hadn't, again, I was on my day off. I thought I would drop by and visit with Weimer and ran into this lady named Tricia who listened to the show.
And she, are you Todd Starnes? I said, yes, ma'am, I am. You're a real person.
Well, thank you. I appreciate that. And we had a great conversation.
So anyway, you meet these people all around the city. And it's look, times are tough everywhere. And so I somebody sent me this note from social media about a food truck here in the Memphis area called New Wing Order. That's clever. New Wing Order.
And I want to read this to you. It's by the way, these are apparently the best hot wings in the city is from what I'm being told. Dylan, have you ever been to the New Wing Order food truck? Here's what the guy wrote. the owner.
He says, about 10 years ago, I decided I wanted to start a food truck.
So I went to work getting experience researching, testing recipes, bouncing around concepts. I was also part of a competition cooking team called New Wing Order. We got pretty obsessed with our own recipes and quickly started winning awards almost every time we competed. The concept for my food truck started to get obvious, award-winning hot wings. And my good friend Cole, who started and led the team was getting interested in helping with the food truck.
I didn't have money saved, but I was determined to find a way to get this thing started. I knew I had two options. Start extremely small and take the long path of working weekend events to start saving money for a food truck. Or I could write out a business plan and we could figure out how to raise money to hit the ground running and start a food truck right away.
So we chose the latter. Six years ago, we were off. We did four grand openings in different areas of town and quickly knew we could make this successful because sales started rolling in. In just our second year, we won best food truck by the Memphis Flyer right as COVID hit. That award meant the world to me.
After that exciting start, we had to buckle down and work hard in a whole new way with the pandemic turning the restaurant world on its head. The good news was we were automatically a to-go food operation as a food truck, so we were able to continue to serve.
However, we had to change our strategy from mainly business lunches to residential dinners with so many businesses shut down. Even as cost soared, we stayed afloat and worked our way through that crisis. And once things were starting to get back to normal, we had the opportunity to partner with a local brewery and start a restaurant inside their taproom. Again, we started out with sales pouring in, but about 15 months ago, things started to change. And we realized we needed to pull out of that operation and go back to focusing exclusively on the food truck.
That was the hardest period of time in New Wing Orders life. But again, we managed to pull through. It's been almost a year of me going back to my roots of being on the food truck for almost every service and really focusing on the grind of the day-to-day operation. It's been fun, but so hard. Costs have risen so much in the last couple of years, and lately we've run into some big unexpected expenses.
Unfortunately, we are at a crossroads, and I'm having to make another really hard decision. I'm sorry to say we have to shut down the food truck. I am so grateful for each and every person that has ever tried my food. having a bunch of regular customers is the most rewarding thing in the world and the way memphis has embraced us means everything to me i'm so incredibly proud of what we have built well this is goodbye for now i hope it's really just a break i still have dreams for new wing order and i hope i can bring it back in some kind of capacity someday that's really sad and i wish i could say it's that's an anomaly across the country but it's not there are stories every single day of businesses going belly up there are two things here that the owner operator and i don't know anything about this guy's politics i don't know anything about this guy i've never even had their wings but everybody i've talked to says they have great chicken wings hot wings but a couple of things stood out first of all the economy and the amount of the the amount of um the the amount it costs to bring in all of these resources the amount it costs to buy chicken wings and all the all the supplies through the roof as a result of the biden administration's policies bide inflation the other part of this is i think i know where this brew house is that where they serve these wings and if so it's it's a tough spot because crime is off the charts in memphis because of the soft on crime policies of city hall and the district attorney we have a george soros district attorney here in memphis tennessee it's a double whammy when you look at some of the polling data out there people are saying this is all about the economy and crime and on those two issues alone the polling data says that who do you trust to fix those two issues and beyond a shadow of a doubt the american voters are saying we trust donald trump to fix those issues but hear me on this don't pay attention to the polls all right just don't for the next little while don't pay any attention they're going to be all over the place in some instances they're going to be for Trump. I suspect after the convention, they're going to be pro-Harris.
Let this all sort itself out. Do that. But I have a question for you, and this is, we're going to open up the phone lines here. We're doing trivia, the last half of the hour of the show. You're going to love it.
We're going to have a lot of fun. But I have a question for you. How do you grade the Trump campaign and how they are doing their campaign right now? How do you grade them. Are they doing everything?
Are they getting an A plus? Are there some things they need to work on? 901-260-5926 is our telephone number. That's 901-260-5926. We're going to be taking your calls on that Also I want to remind you we are raising money for our friends at Food for the Poor Folks We just trying to make sure that kids have a good meal and they have access to clean drinking water and we need your help Whether it or or whatever you can give go right now to ToddStearns click on the Give Life banner at the top of the page, and you'll be able to help us out in that effort.
Got to take a break. We'll be right back. all right uh welcome back everybody it's elvis week is coming i'm excited about that there's there are a lot of wonderful activities and if you haven't brought the family down to memphis you ought to bring them down for elvis week you can stay over at the new guest house it is absolutely is really a resort a five-star resort you will love it and there's it's a family friendly event so want to encourage you to uh to head over to graceland and let's uh let's have some fun and by the way we're going to be doing some elvis trivia here momentarily uh by the way let's go to memphis tennessee joanne is on the line listening to us on kwam where elvis got his start by the way back in the day hi joanne what's on your mind hi todd how are you i'm well thank you for asking joanne um you've probably seen some of my posts on x i know i've called into ben deeter's show in the morning and i just wanted to let you know that i'm looking forward to meeting you tomorrow at the rally and i also had a comment regarding the trump team and their social media. They really need to take a look at that and ramp up their exposure, not only on local TV, but also social media. The Harris campaign, there's an X account, Harris headquarters.
They're posting constantly, all day, every day. And there's hardly anything from the Trump team. and in order to engage in the younger audience audience especially they they really need to step up their social media exposure joanne can i can i go back to that atlanta rally and there was a moment where trump called up a young lady onto the stage the one he met at the chick-fil-a and he asked her to to say a few words and if you remember at first i thought oh this is a really awesome moment. She had spoken in the pre-rally. Then Trump invited her up onto the stage.
And almost immediately, Joanne, she made it all about herself and her brand and whatever she was promoting. And I'm afraid that there are far too many people like that in Trump's orbit right now, because they're all about building their brand and not promoting Trump's. Yes, exactly.
So they really need to take a look at that. And Trump really needs to get involved with that more. I feel that he's kind of involved, especially with his, when he had that, gosh, I have a lot going on in my mind right now. he just had a podcast the other day and on Twitch and, you know, to engage in the younger crowd, he really needs to do more of that and be more in charge. You know, Joanna, I'll tell you, whenever I speak, you know, I'm invited to speak at these Trump rallies and I'm always honored to do so.
I never use that as a platform to advance myself. You know, the books, none of that, because that's not the time or the place. The point of those rallies is to is to focus on Donald Trump and the Trump agenda and not yourself. And unfortunately, there are a lot of people that just take advantage of it. And I mean, Trump is a is a good, good hearted man.
He's a good natured person and he's loyal. And a lot of people take advantage of that. But to your point, I'm with you there, Joanne. They've got to step it up on the social media world. hey can we talk about this rally this is going to be so fun so tomorrow morning 7 30 everybody's getting together at top gun in memphis and we're gonna we're gonna have a huge trump caravan is and joanne are you gonna have a truck or car a motorcycle i'm bringing my car and um what i did in 2020 when i was living in florida i just i had flags all over it um already have a a couple of bumper stickers and you know i'm just gonna be all decked out from my car to myself so and it was a lot of fun the one that i did in florida um so i'm i'm really looking forward to this one well we're expecting hundreds of people coming out and i get to be the guy that says you gentlemen start your engines and dylan i got joanne here's the thing i'm trying to find like a harley hog or something i can you imagine me on one of those you know one of those motorcycles what are you laughing at dylan i can't i can't you can't imagine me no like with a leather like a leather like vest with tattoos is there a i'd get a tattoo before the end of the show you'll be the next meme to go up to go viral you know speaking of that joanne years ago i was speaking at an event down in South Louisiana.
This is a terrible story. I was speaking at an event, and it was cold. It was in the wintertime, but it doesn't get really cold down in Cajun country, but we were like in Lafayette. All you people over at KROF, you know you're kind of like in the swamp-ish area. And so anyway, I had a cardigan sweater vest from Brooks Brothers, and somebody owned a shooting range, and they said, we'd love for you to come out.
and shoot some AR-15s were going out in the swamp. And I said, well, this is all I got. I had khaki pants and a cardigan sweater, like a button-up Mr. Rogers sweater too, Joanne. And they said, no, come on out.
Come on out. We'll have a good time. There are photos of me in my sweater vest holding an AR-15. And they said like, Mr. Rogers meets Rambo.
So I kind of went meme-ish back in the day yeah you need to post that on your website i'll try to dig that up for you joanne i will i will take one for the team here and i will do that joanne look forward to meeting you tomorrow it's going to be a lot of fun and again folks uh they're going to start organizing around 7 30 and we're going to kick off to to uh the the rally around nine o'clock ish so come on out tomorrow it's going to be a lot of fun all right let's go to dallas in north carolina hi dallas what's on your mind. Hey, Todd. I wanted to talk about the Atlanta rally last week. After J.D. Vance's speech, we had a long wait before Trump came out.
And during that time, they played a lot of different music. And one of the things they played was a vulgar mouth rapper that got up there using all kinds of language that you couldn't even use on the air. And that upset me extremely because I've got a Trump sign flying in my yard. And I thought, oh, no, people are going to associate that with me. And so I felt like going out there and getting it down before the next day people saw a sign.
I said, well, they've already seen it by now.
Well, don't take your Trump sign down. But I have to tell you, have you ever heard of a clean mouth rapper? That would be I think that would be news to me.
Well, that's another reason there, because I don't think that the people that Trump would do that. And I don't think that the people that are setting the rallies up for, I don't know if he approves the music, but I'd give him an F for that music. Yeah, I'm not sure who's got the I'm not sure of that. I'm fairly certain that didn't come out of Trump's playlist. he's a bit he's on a big Elvis kick right now and some classical music as well so but Dallas it's a fair point and you want to keep it family friendly right I mean you don't want to I mean you got Lee Greenwood out there for crying out loud you don't want to make Lee blush so all right Dallas appreciate that call and it's a good it's a it's a legitimate concern uh let's go to Bill WSJS in North Carolina Now, hi, Bill.
What's going on? Todd, I pray God's blessing on you and your show, and especially for my dearest friend, Lydia. She needs a raise, okay? But anyway, when you were talking about the motorcycles and all that, I had a 1998 special edition Dynawine glide that I had to send Barack Obama to pay my taxes one year. But anyway, the point of my call was the fact that back under Donald Trump's presidency, I could afford to buy a steak.
But right now, I'm lucky to go to the grocery store to buy a piece of bacon. yeah those grocery prices bill and i think when you know when you look at some of the the people that are voting uh out there in the primaries they're they're saying and they're talking to reporters they're saying hey look man i mean we can't even afford to buy the the knockoff products so it's really expensive going to the grocery store these days so i think that's a look that is a legitimate concern that a lot of people have and at the end of the day it's not going to be about Ukraine. It's not going to be about Iran or Israel or the border. I really do think it's going to be something as simple as you're not going to believe how much a package of bologna costs me down at the Piggly Wiggly. I think it's going to be that simple.
Bill, got to run and appreciate you calling in. Ladies and gentlemen, we've got trivia coming up and we're going to throw the first question out. And it's this. This is a clever question. What is Elvis Presley's middle name what is elvis presley's middle name 901-260-5926 is our number that's 901-260-5926 if you know the answer that is trivia question number one kicking it off for the half hour what is elvis presley's middle name we'll be right back all right welcome back you know dylan it's interesting um aiden pettit who we invited to come and hang out with us of like a what a couple of weeks back before he heads off to college has already become like a rock star in the world of trivia that's what happens when you're on the todd starns show exactly it's a life-altering thing aiden well Yeah, I guess so.
I mean, you could become a game show host or something. There you go. I mean, you never know. It's the start of a big, big career. Things are going good.
Good summer so far for you. Absolutely. I'm grateful it's not as sweaty hot as it was last time I was here. I actually got out of my car fully dry, which was wonderful. This is good.
I was telling Congressman David Kostoff, you need to be back home in Memphis. You can finally breathe outside. Yes, and the air is a little bit drier. It's survivable. It's a wonderful thing.
So in addition to just being busy, I understand you got to vote for the very first time. We had a local election here a couple of weeks ago. I did. Yes, sir. I mean, it's a very simple process.
You know, they explain everything for you. It was pretty cool. All right. Got to get those paper ballots, though. Ask for the paper ballots.
Yep. That's what it was. Awesome. I love it. You see, he's a great American patriot here, ladies and gentlemen.
All right. Welcome to trivia. Here's how it is going to work. You get the first question right, and then you have to answer a second question to win the prize.
So we're going to make it a little bit trickier than we normally do. uh let's start the day with candace in tennessee listening to us on wtjs candace how are you today i'm doing good how are you doing well i'm doing well thank you for asking and we need to know i'm going to ask you a question you got to get this one right and then we will go on to the the second phase uh but first we need to know what is elvis's middle name i think it's aaron yeah yeah you are absolutely correct it is elvis elvis aaron presley so were you are you were you a big elvis fan back in the day no i wasn't now what about you aiden are you at elvis well i have to say now i can name a couple songs but i i don't know that i would consider myself an elvis you sort of sound like you know who's the guy that just starred in um the elvis movie austin butler austin butler who like literally changed his yeah voice and everything yeah that was interesting he like studied everything he i think it was for two years i think he just delved into that character it's very impressive and now he's doing like a world war ii um series called masters of the air i think for apple tv and he still has you know what i mean yeah he still sounds like elvin really oh that's interesting it's crazy i'm curious candace we're just having a conversation before we go to your next question but i am curious you're an actor i mean this is what you're going to be saying so does that i mean when you become a character do you like just dive right in i will say his approach to that character was very very impressive because he i mean he devoted every aspect of his life to becoming elvis you know he studied the the mannerisms the way he lived the way he you know walked talked everything now i've never delved into a character that deep i'll say that but his his approach was incredibly impressive wow you see if i did that hip move i would i'd be at campbell clinic i'd be getting getting replacement surgery. All right, Candice, so that is question number one. And Aiden, let's take a grab at your list. All righty.
So your bonus question is, now it's a little bit non-Elvis related, but if you've been watching the Olympics, you're a big patriot, you'll know. In men's basketball yesterday, so Team USA was trailing their opponents the entire game until around the last moments of the match when the U.S. pulled out the win 95-91. What country nearly beat Team USA in men's basketball yesterday?
Now, it's been on a lot of primetime television, so you might have seen this if you've had your TV on. What team, Candice? You're asking me? Yes, that's the trivia question number two.
Well, you know, I had no idea that I was going to be put on the air and ask the second question. But I don't watch the Olympics. Oh, man. I just don't. All right, so just because you're the first person, all right, for our new format here for Trivia, I will give you another question that will be non-Olympics related.
Let's go down to, we're going to stick with Elvis. Can you tell us the name of Elvis Presley's manager? Oh, my gosh. Oh, man, was it red something? Oh, Candace, no, it was not close, actually.
But, Candace, give us a holler back, and good luck there. That was not the right... I wanted to say it was kind of close, but it really wasn't close. No, I feel bad that we hooked him with an easy question. And by the way, can you tell us Elvis' mother's maiden name?
It just feels mean. You know, it's just random questions. You just put me on the spot. See, I don't know. I feel like that's what we've done to people.
Smith? Is that... I couldn't tell you.
Okay, let's go to Matthew in Georgia. Hi, Matthew. How are you today? Good. How are you guys doing?
All right. So here's the question we have. We need to know the name of Elvis Presley's manager. Do you know the name of Elvis Presley's manager? No, sir.
Oh, all right.
Well, Matthew, appreciate your call again. Let's go to Don in Tennessee listening to us on KWAM. Hi, Don. hey how you doing all right so don can you tell us question number one who was elvis's manager colonel parker yes thank the lord somebody got it yeah um yes and was it tom hanks i think it was it was tom hanks wow just great performance what a fascinating did you see the movie don I did. It was really, really good.
You know, some people either really loved it or they just hated it, and I loved it. I thought it was incredible. It was a little funky, but I love the music. I love the storyline. Right, right, right.
All right, Don, we're going to get you. Hold on. We've got another question here we need to ask. We're going back to the basketball question. All righty.
So I don't know if you heard this one.
So if you were watching the Olympics yesterday, you watched Team USA. they were trailing by a good bit. At one point they were trailing by I think 17 points it was. But they pulled out the win in the end. Can you tell me what country it was that nearly beat Team USA in men's basketball yesterday?
I heard it this morning, but I just can't remember what it was. Do we want to give them a choice like an A or a B? Sure, sure, sure, sure.
So your options are, one, France, two, Romania, or three, Serbia. I think it was Serbia. Oh, wow.
There it is. Good job. I knew it wasn't France. Hey, Don, congratulations. We have a winner.
Well done. All right, Don. Yeah, awesome. Hang tight. We're going to put you on hold, and Lydia is going to get your information.
uh let's go to uh connie in georgia hi connie how are you you're on the air with me and aiden hello hello i'm great thank you todd well good uh connie say hello to aiden it's okay it's all right hello hello we're just trying to be cordial here it's all right connie so we have new trivia questions on the table and are you familiar with i don't What do you mean, uh-oh? I know. I feel like I've got to tone down these questions.
Alright, another Olympics question you say?
Okay, so another member of Team USA, American Sam Watson left the Paris Games having set a new world record in speed climbing. What medal did he go home with? Oh my gosh. This does feel mean. I'll guess gold, I guess.
no actually it's it seems like a little bit of a trick question because he did get the official new world record but it was not gold it's an interesting story connie good luck next week on trivia thank you for calling he's gonna stop inviting me because i keep stumping people oh my word no the trick question was what was this speed climbing yes it was speed climbing you want me to give the answer no don't all right hold on we gotta so we're gonna take a break here uh aiden is giving all of his anxiety uh today well these are tough questions sorry guys wow i whenever he invites me on i give you the extreme difficulty it's my bad all right here we go uh this is a i love lucy trivia oh this is a great question actually uh can you tell us what ricky ricardo did what was his job on i love lucy if you know the question what was ricky ricardo's job on i love lucy give us a call 901-260-5926 that's 901-260-5926 we've got to take a break we'll be right back all right dylan next week you're in charge of the questions yeah sorry guys she's a loop uh let's go to michelle in boston hi michelle how are you doing today i'm i'm good how are you good good um so here is question number one um we need to know what was ricky ricardo's job in i love lucy ricky ricardo was a band leader and musician yeah uh that's right uh those were and and that was actually his real band um he played in a in a club called the Tropicana and they renamed it for later on the show as a club Babalu which is a great taco joint a great taco joint here in Memphis Babalu all right Michelle I'm passing you off to Aiden and he has a question for you all right I have to ask you before this because I think I've kind of crashed and burned here do you watch or have you watched any Olympics uh tiny tiny bit honestly so we're gonna go you have crashed and burned okay so i'll avoid i'll avoid the olympics questions because maybe maybe i love it the most that's okay but i'll ask you what year did i love lucy premiere is it a 1945 b 1951 or c 1973 oh the one in the 50s that is correct 1951 Good job. Michelle, I'm curious. Did you ever watch the old Black and White reruns? I did, but I watched them. I wasn't that old, so they weren't fresh when I was watching them, but I loved them.
Yeah, I was trying to explain to Aiden and Dylan. It was really a fun show, and it was just slapstick comedy at its best. The best. And the music was pretty darn good, too. Hey, guess what, Michelle?
Well, you have won a prize. Congratulations. And we're going to put you on hold, and Lydia's going to get your information. Let's go to Ron listening to us on KYKN. Hi, Ron.
How are you today? I am well. Thank you very much. Good. Well, we're going to give you a question here.
Back to Elvis Presley. We want to know, what city did Elvis begin his music career? I believe it was Kukalau, Mississippi. No, that's where he began breathing, but that is not where he started his music career. Ron, good try.
Let's go to Peter in North Carolina. All right, Peter, the question that we have up for you is, we need to know the city where Elvis began his music career. Oh, I'm not sure about that one. And I was going to say Ricky Ricardo was a band leader, but somebody already got that one. Michelle in Boston got that one.
Yeah, Michelle.
Okay, let's try Memphis. Yeah, that's good. There we go. There we go. Good guess.
All right, Aiden, give it a shot. What, the bonus question? Yeah. Okay, I'm going to ask.
Okay, I feel bad at this point. I don't feel bad. These are tough questions. They are. They are.
Olympics question? Yes. Did I get that right? Yeah, you got that one right. Yes, you got that right.
But we've got one more to go. He did indeed start his music career in Memphis.

So in the Andy Griffith show, the town of Mayberry had how many jail cells? It's a tricky one. There it is. There it is. She's a fan.
She's a real fan. Good job. Yeah, that's funny. There's plenty of episodes where they were in that jail cell. There's just two of them sitting right there.

I'm a child of the 60s. Grew up in the Memphis area, northeast Arkansas, with three TV stations. You had to watch Mayberry, and you had to watch Lucille. That's it. Well, Becky, congratulations.
We're going to put you on hold, and thanks for playing trivia. You guys did a great job today. Aiden, well done. Yeah, I feel bad for everyone that had to answer an Olympics question, but good job. You did well.
You should feel bad. No, I'm just kidding. All right, Aiden, thank you. Thank you. Great job.
Great questions. Folks, it's been a lot of fun. We've got a lot going on. We'll see you tomorrow at the big Trump rally. We're driving up to Millington tonight, 8 o'clock Eastern.
