Could it be, I don't know, the pumpkin spice latte? You know, a lot of people wait until they drink the pumpkin spice latte. It's a seasonal thing for a lot of people.
Some people say, you know what, it's when I put on the first sweater. But I want to hear from you here in the Mid-South. What is it? What is it that. Makes it fall.

So, hope to see if you've got a kid, bring him down before school. We're going to get him out in time. It's not a very long gathering, but we'll have a great time there. We want to start today in an area of Memphis known as Melody Wood Drive. There was a story that caught my attention in June.
Channel 5's on Channel 5's website. There was a guy, there's a guy named Demarcus Collier. He's 27 years old, and he was minding his own business. This was like inside his home at about 4:50 in the morning, and he heard something. He heard something outside of his home.
So he grabs his gun as any law abiding Memphian would do, and he goes outside and there's a teen thug, we call them thuglings here on the Mighty 990. There was a thugling, and the thugling was trying to steal the guy's car.
So the guy did what any red-blooded American law-abiding gun owner would do. He opened fire.
Now let me explain according to the police records. And mister Collier, who has been very cooperative with investigators, said that he confronted the guy outside of his vehicle. It was a twenty eighteen Jeep Wrangler parked in the driveway. And by the way, Mr. Collier was alerted by security cameras inside his home that there was somebody lurking, and it was the Thugly.
Yeah.
So anyway, he started, he confronted the kid, and then the kid indicated that he had a weapon and said, get your blank back in the house.
So at that point, knowing that you've got a teen thuggling, and trust me, the teen thugglings in Memphis, they don't care about your life. They don't care if you got a wife. They don't care if you got kids. They don't care if you're a baby, a toddler. I mean, they're robbing everybody.
and they'll shoot you. They have no value of life. I mean, what these parents are, these, and when I say these parents, I'm intentionally painting with a broad brush because we've got a lot of kids. That behave worse than animals here. It's savage.
Savages. Unbelievable.
So I don't blame mister Collier for doing what he did next. He opened fire.
He um fired multiple rounds and then the um the the the burglar um took off in a red sedan.
Now, Mr. Collier has been arrested. Oh, yeah. The thugling is at Labonner Children's Hospital with two gunshot wounds. It was a pretty good shot.
And the thuggling is in critical condition.
Now, Mr. Collier, the homeowner, is now facing felony charges. He is charged with seven aggravated assaults. And the reason why is because apparently some of the bullets hit a home across the street. Nobody was injured.
Nobody was injured. And a lot of folks are saying that this is not right because Tennessee does have a castle doctrine that allows a man to protect his home, and that actually extends into his yard and driveway.
So, the question is: what's going on here? Everybody in the neighborhood says Mr. Collier is a good, hard-working man. Who was just trying to get some sleep, security cameras go off, and now all of a sudden he's facing felony charges. And we've seen this happen before with the MPD, and we love law enforcement here on this program, no doubt about it.
But it seems to me they're more prone to go after and throw the book at hardworking, law-abiding homeowners and motorists. Let me put it this way: I have seen firsthand, I have seen this, where you've got folks going 90, 95 miles an hour on I-240, and then you've got somebody going, say, 65 in the 55 and they will pull over the 65. As the folks are drag racing past the MPD, I don't know why, that's just the way it is.
So I'm just I'm curious about this case. And this is this is mind boggling. But anyway, even one of the local attorneys that Channel Five reached out to, they're saying, yeah, this does seem like overkill.
So again, you know, if is there a charge there for, you know, he fired the gun and it hit somebody else's house? I don't know. Anyway, new legislation modifying Tennessee's property defense statutes, reading from Channel 5 here, took effect on July 1st. Legal experts emphasize that firing weapons in dense residential neighborhoods remains heavily complicated.
Well, you know what else?
Well, I'll tell you what's not so complicated. What if the kid had been able to open fire on the homeowner here? We'd be talking about yet another victim of crime. I know Channel 5 actually considers the criminal thuggling a victim. No, no, no.
You got what you asked for. You play stupid games, you're going to win stupid prizes. Because trust me, in this city, you don't know who is Pack and Heat. Anyway, I'm just curious, who do you stand with here? Do you stand with the police, ladies and gentlemen, who charged this guy, or do you think the homeowner did the right thing here by opening fire and protecting his family and protecting his property?

October 1st is World Vegetarian Day. I do not celebrate. World Vegetarian Day, they have now listed Wallet Hub, has revealed the list of best cities for vegans and vegetarians. And ladies and gentlemen, we're on a lot of terrible lists around the nation, deadliest city in America, most violent city in America. But I am proud to tell you today that we are not on the list of top favorite vegan and vegetarian cities in America.
Memphis did not make the list. Congratulations, Bluff City. What I find fascinating, there really are no surprises on this list. There are only two southern cities, though, that made the cut. And one of them, I am very surprised.
Atlanta is number 13, but it's, oh, I'm sorry, I keep forgetting about Kentucky. There are three. Lexington, Kentucky is on the list, but that's like a college town.
So that makes sense. Birmingham, Alabama. Apparently, it is one of the top cities for vegans and vegetarians. I don't know what's going on in Alabama these days, but well, there you go. All right, 901-260-5926.

All right. We had a wonderful conversation with Adam Kraut. He is in charge of a great organization that's based right here in the Mid-South called the Second Amendment Foundation. Let's take a listen. Adam, let's talk about a big conference you guys have coming up, a gun rights policy conference, which is all sorts of things happening there.
A good friend of this program, Dana Lesch, we understand she's going to be a part of that policy event. Yes, she will be speaking on Saturday, the 26th, I believe. I think the 27th is Sunday.
So she'll be speaking. We're also very happy to have some officials from the administration. Rob Zicada will be there, the director of ATF, ATF's Chief Counsel Robert Leiter, will be there. Barry Arrington from the DOJ Civil Rights Division, the Second Amendment section will be there as well. In addition to just a number of awesome speakers that do this kind of work day in and day out, whether it's in the courts or in the state assemblies and the federal ones.
Tell us a little bit more about the conference. When? Give us the dates. Where it will be. Sure.
So the conference will be this, not this coming weekend, the following.
So September 25th through the 27th in Dallas, Texas at the Dallas, the Westin Airport Hotel there. And then that Friday, we also have a couple other side events, one of which includes the alternative mass media conference, which I think is sold out, but that's more geared towards the people who are interested in podcasting, YouTubing, blog writing, and how to have effective change there. We also have a legal scholars conference geared towards lawyers.
They'll get CLE credits for that. And then there's also a meeting of the state groups on Friday before we get to the main event Saturday and then Sunday. Again, we've got Adam Kraut joining us, Executive Director of the Second Amendment Foundation, and they do some really incredible work standing up and defending your right to bear arms. And I want you to go and check them out and get involved. This is a great conference for you to go to.
I know there are just a lot of people vying for attention. Adam, what sets you guys apart, I think, is just you guys are bulldogging a lot of these very important issues, legislation, and you're getting into the weeds on a lot of this stuff. A lot of other guys, smoke and mirrors, but not the Second Amendment Foundation.
Well, we appreciate that. You know, we've been involved in over 280 lawsuits since our inception, whether it's filing them, funding them, or writing briefs supporting other people's to get Second Amendment rights restored to where they are. We currently have two cases that are going to be heard before the Supreme Court this December, challenging bans on semi-automatic firearms, as the anti-gunners like to say, assault weapons. But we have two cases that the court agreed to hear.
So we're very excited about finally getting that law stricken down across the country and restoring rights for millions of Americans. The United States government, we have ceded some time for them to come in and argue in favor of striking down these bans. And we have a whole lot of other things working on the burners to keep the heat up and keep restoring Second Amendment rights everywhere. What would you say is right now, and a lot of times when you've got Republicans in control of Congress and at the White House, people think, okay, my rights are good, they're protected. you know, we're just going to sit back now.
But you really can't do that, can you? No, unfortunately, that's the one thing that's very frustrating about gun owners is sometimes the apathy. You know, when Democrats take control and anti-gun legislation is rolling forward, everybody goes on the defensive and makes those phone calls that they need to do and votes the way they need to and helps fund groups like the Second Amendment Foundation in order to fight against these unconstitutional restrictions. But as you said, when Republicans, everybody kind of just takes a step back and goes, okay, well, we're safe. The reality is that we need to keep pushing forward, particularly while there's time to make hay.
And when Republicans, you know, at the federal level, control the House, you know, the Senate's a different story, but also the presidency. You see some good things coming out of there. I mean, there's no question that under this administration in the last two years, that the work being done in the DOJ as far as rolling back regulations, attacking various municipalities and cities for unconstitutional restrictions directly from the federal government instead of a group like the SAF. Suing them. It's unquestionably the best we've ever seen on Second Amendment rights.
Is it perfect? No. But you can't hold a candle to anything else.
So, you know, being involved, I think ultimately at the end of the day and continuing to push forward and getting out to vote are all important things. And also, I think just the networking, which is why, you know, I believe that the conference, the policy conference you guys support, is the GRPC, ladies and gentlemen. The Gun Rights Policy Conference is coming up September 25th through the 27th in Dallas, Texas. SAF.org is the website. You'll go there and you can find all the information.

They were named nominees for the NFL Latino Youth Honors. The program recognizes high school seniors for achievements in academics, community involvement, and football. Eight nominees nationwide received college grant money, and the national otteries will be announced during Super Bowl Week.

Okay. I don't like $4.20 gas, and I don't like $6.20 diesel, and I don't like foreign conflicts, and I don't like it when politicians don't do what I think they need to do and the amount of time they should do it. And so that's why I'm going to stay home, and that's why I'm going to let the communists win, and that's why I'm going to let them trans the kids, and that's why I'm going to let them dismember babies until the moment of birth, and that's why I'm going to let them take over our gun rights, and that's why I'm going to let them give away the American dream to any Joe Schmo who walks across the southern border, and that's why I'm going to let the terrorist sympathizers gain a foothold in our country. Do you see how stupid that sounds, guys? I know we're not getting everything that we want right now as Republicans, but I'm going to need you to rally, okay?
For the sake of the next generation, can we not let freedom die on our watch? You're voting for the lesser of two evils, and that's not a new phenomenon. We've been doing that since the day of creation, and we'll do that until the day Jesus comes back. There's nothing new about that. Jesus ain't on the ballot.
So, I'm going to need you to rally, pick yourself up by your bootstraps, and take yourself down to the polls and spend about 15 minutes of your time over the course of the next 45 days that you had to do it. And I'm going to need you to vote for the people who don't hate our country. They happen to be Republicans. I know they're imperfect. All of us are.
One more thing: please also vote no on all three amendments that are going to be on your ballot. I don't want to look into the eyes of the next generation and tell them that we gave the keys of the country over to the communists because we were frustrated and so we stayed home. I really don't think the excuses I'm hearing right now are going to cut it when we're chit-chatting it up in the breadlines with our kids.
So let's rally, y'all. Let's get it done. Let's save Virginia. Let's save our country. Yeah.
So, this lady across the state line over in East Tennessee, she's in Virginia. She gets it, right? And I look, I don't want to go to the gulags. And these Democrats are slap crazy, folks. Slap crazy.
You've got all these DSA folks, and they are on the record as wanting to put all of the Trump supporters in gulags. I'm just telling you right now, I'm not going to do well in prison. I'm just being flat honest with you. And I don't know, I love, look. I love all you fine conservative folks out there, but I don't want to be, I don't want to be like having to work a chain gang up in the Mississippi Delta picking cotton in the fields.
And I think that's exactly what could happen if the Democrats ever get control of the country again.
So here's the deal: like she said, I get it. I get it. The Republicans, you can't trust them. I understand that. But the problem is, the other side is slap crazy nuts.
And we can't allow crazy anywhere near power. We just can't do that.
So get out and be sure that you engage in your right to vote. That is your constitutional right, and you need to get out there and exercise that. It is appalling right now that Justin Pearson is within four points of Brent Taylor. Oh, by the way. There's a little bit of drama over on the Democrat side of the aisle.
Turns out Steve Cohen has yet to endorse Justin Pearson.

So, Senator Marshall Blackburn dropping by, and we had a great sit-down conversation. Here's just a smidge of what the senator had to say. Senator, I know you have been working around the clock when you're not on the campaign trail. You're back in Washington and doing a lot of good for the American people. You know, when you look at what's happening nationwide right now, I think people are fired up.
Are you sensing that people are understanding the significance and the importance of retaining Republican control of Congress? Indeed, what we see is that the Democrats are just crazy. All of this socialist, communist, you know, 1776, the battle cry was the British are coming. 2026, it's the communists are coming. And everyone is frustrated with the high cost of living right now.
But Todd, the important thing to bear in mind, the Democrats would see $5 a gallon gas as the floor and the price increasing from there. And Republicans are saying, how do we get it back down to $1.75 a gallon? And how do we reduce these costs? They had inflation. The Democrats had it at 9%.
It is still way too high at $3. But we're working to try to get it down so that you don't have that price inflation every time you go to fill up the car, go to buy groceries, go to buy supplies for the kids for school or new tennis shoes. For them because they're on the track team or they need new shoes for basketball or football. Senator, do you think that, based on what you just said, do you think there's some sort of an intentional disinformation campaign underway nationwide to really demoralize Republican voters? Because you're right.
I mean, when you compare where we were under the previous administration, even to where we are now with some of the prices going back up, they're still far below what it was when Biden was in office. Of course. And President Trump has worked hard to get us on the right track. And we all know that. But you can't turn the economy around overnight.
And prices are still way too high. And there are things that can be done, making housing more affordable, simplifying permitting. And these are things, whether it's the local level, state level, federal level. Those are policies where government can say, hey, we've got a role in this. And regardless of whether it's local, federal, or state, what are we going to do?
And when you look at the state, let's make certain that we in Tennessee pass our amendment to the Constitution to say we will never have a state property tax and make certain that we close that, go on and foreclose that idea. And then look at what counties. And cities can do to get the property tax down on senior citizens. Nobody should ever be taxed out of their home or off their farm or forced to sell their business because they cannot pay the taxes. Senator, I want to switch gears here.
One of the big conversations that's happening not just in Tennessee, but around the nation, these data centers, of course, Memphis and the Mid-South has really become the hub. Elon Musk building Colossus here. I thought it was interesting. Elon is not I figured he'd be staying at the Peabody while I was here. He's actually living in a trailer near the construction sites.
He's doing a lot of good for the area, helping to renovate schools and gymnasiums. And yet, the Democrats are coming after him. But also, a lot of Republicans are concerned about these data centers. What do you make of all the controversy? Yes, and there is going to be controversy around data centers because this, if you go back 100 years, Todd, and look at the controversy around factories, there were communities that wanted a factory, there were communities that did not.
And there is a proper place for data centers. We know as long as people are using those cell phones and are creating that data, it's got to be stored here in the United States.
Now, the Chinese Communist Party wants to have all of that data stored over in Beijing because they want access to the data. They want to build a virtual U and they want to control that by tracking everywhere you go on your cell phone. And if they're controlling the data in their data center, that means they've got access to it. But communities are going to decide whether or not they want a data center. We've got counties that.
Are here in Tennessee that don't want them. We've got counties that are putting out the y'all come sign because they do want them. They have excess water and utilities and power that they can use, and they want those full-time jobs because. The full-time employment at data centers is a lot of skilled labor, and they want to have those high paying jobs that are going to open doors of opportunity for individuals that live in their community.
So this is going to be a decision that local governments are going to make.
Now, the state does have a role in this because we can go in and pass a ratepayer protection plan. This is something President Trump has supported. And having a ratepayer protection plan so that Individuals know their utility rates are not going to go up because there is a data center. And you mentioned what they're doing there in Memphis with XAI. And indeed, the expansion of that project and the way they're giving back to the community.
They're building a gray water facility. They are going to be in a position to sell power back to the grid if there is a need from Memphis Light Gas and Water to have that power back on the grid. They're also working on battery storage of power for commercial batteries in case there is a need to expand that or go to that if you've got some kind of grid outage.
So I think it's going to be up to communities to make these decisions and the state to put that framework in place. And then we'll see what communities want them and which do not. All right. So I want to swing back around to politics for just a moment. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding. Hassan Piker, who is a very prominent figure in Democrat and far-left politics. And this guy has become the de facto spokesman of the Democrat Party.
Now, you can agree or disagree, but that is the fact. And Abdul El-Syed, who is running for the U.S. Senate from Michigan against a Republican Mike Rogers, Al-Syed is now facing a lot of questions about his association, his interactions with Hassan Piker. As is, by the way, Zoron Mamdami. And yes, I'm aware of what the president said about Zoron Mamdami.
We're going to talk about that at 11 o'clock. I've got a lot to say about that at 11 o'clock here on the Moddy 990. But circling back, there is now a local angle.
So a couple of weeks ago, State Representative Justin Pearson, who is the Democrat nominee for the 9th congressional district race, was invited to a radical leftist event in Colorado. That event was so radical, they had to cancel it. But Justin Pearson still got together with some of his radical buddies for a sit-down QA on a podcast, and Pearson was sitting on the couch next to Hassan Piker. Hassan Piker was wearing an outfit that was very similar to the kinds of outfits that Mao Seitong used to wear. I mean, the guy's a communist, and he's not afraid to tell you he's a communist.
My question is, why is Justin Pearson sitting on the couch there because Pearson's out there saying There's no way I'm a socialist. I'm just a preacher boy. From What Haven? Hallelujah. That's Justin Pierce.
But in reality Justin Pearson. Is a communist.
Now he may be in the closet. But he's a communist.
Now it's interesting because he's sitting there in this little room on the couch with Hassan Piker, and Hassan Piker actually believes that America deserved nine eleven. Hassan Piker said that. He said that Americans deserve to die on nine eleven. Hassan Piker also said that America is worse than Al Qaeda.
So, my question to Justin Powerfro Pearson: why are you hanging out with this guy? We need an answer to that question. Why are you hanging out with this guy? Hey, look, we got to leave it there, folks. Been a great day.
