Granger for the ones who get it done. In front. The Mighty 990 Broadcast Center. You're waking up in Starnes Country with Todd Starns. And good Monday morning, everybody.
I'm Todd Starns, and this is Starnes Country. We are proudly broadcasting in the Principal Toyota Memphis studio. If you are looking for a great deal on a car, go visit our good friend Todd Lochner at Principal Toyota.
Well, we have a very busy day, and of course, it is a federal holiday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. There are going to be a lot of events downtown in and around the National Civil Rights Museum, and we'll go through some of those a little bit later on in the program. But a lot of visitors in town, not only for that event, but also over the weekend, the International Blues Competition. And there was a lot, there was a lot of action downtown.
We'll talk more about that a little bit later on as well. Had a great time down at the At Rum Boogie Cafe, and got to see some incredible blues bands from all over the world over the weekend.
So, there was a lot of action, a lot of fun in downtown Memphis. And if you haven't been back downtown, it's so, it is such a different place thanks to the National Guard, thanks to the federal law enforcement agencies that are patrolling our streets.
So, just a wonderful time, and folks having a good time. And that's what it's all about on the weekends.
Well, wow, where do we start? We have a major national news story, and We need to talk about this because What happened over the weekend in Minneapolis could very well happen here. I will say this. The outcome would not be the same because, in most of the churches here in the Mid-South, I would say the congregation and especially the deacons are armed and they know how to shoot.
So over the weekend, Sunday, yesterday morning, There was uh a church gathering in St. Paul City's church. This church, by the way, happens to be a part of the Southern Baptist Convention, of which I attend a Southern Baptist Church. And a lot of people are always surprised when they say, oh, wow, you guys have Southern Baptist churches in Minnesota. Yeah, we got them in all 50 states.
We've got them all over the place. And this is a very large church. This is a very young church as well. Looks like most of the parishioners are Gen Zers and millennials.
So it's a pretty young church, and it's a mostly white church.
So, and these are important things for the conversation because yesterday there was a mob that was organized by Black Lives Matter Minnesota and Black Lives Matter Twin Cities, and ex-CNN host Don Lemon. And they stormed the church. During worship, these people are worshiping Jesus. They're doing exactly what you did at your church yesterday. And all of a sudden, this mob of the, I mean, they say of upwards of 30 people, they come storming in, cursing profanities, terrorizing the poor church members, and it was just really unhinged.
Now, we're going to play some audio from some of this so you get an idea of what was going on. Cut number two, please. As you can see, all these pretend Christians, all these comfortable white people who are living lavish, comfortable lives while children are dragged into concentration camps. You're living real life, nice lives with your lattes, doing absolutely nothing for your Latino and Somali brothers and sisters. You come here to a man wearing a suit is a preacher?
Did Jesus wear a suit? Did Jesus profit off the words? No, Jesus would die with anybody. Do not touch me. Touch me again and see what happens.
Hey, you can't. You are a fake Christian. Why are you not standing with your Somali and Latino communities? Why do I not see you out at Whitbull every day protesting this attack on humanity? Where are you?
You're sinners. You're pretending to be Christians. But we know you live an easy life, don't you? A very easy life while people are starving. Shame.
Out now! Out now. Living real comfortable while the people starve. Living real comfortable while children are dragged into concentration camps. You're all living real comfortable, aren't you?
Shame on you. Do something. Stand with the Somalis. Stand with the Latinos. Quit ignoring this injustice.
He wears a suit and tie, and he hangs out with Christy Noam. How is that a Christian? You're supposed to accept all immigrants, are you not? Why are you not going down to Whipple and joining us in protests against this inhumanity? You claim to be a Christian, act like one.
Okay, so that just gives you a flavor of what's going on. This guy wearing a profane message, a hat. With a profane message. Then Don Lemon actually interviewed a One of the organizers, this black woman who led the assault on this mostly white church, cut number four. Tell us why you're doing this.
This is Operation Pull Up, more of a clandestine operation. We show up somewhere that is a key location. They don't expect us to come there. And then we disrupt business as usual.
So that's what we're about to go do right now. Demanding justice for Renee Goode and letting them know. that this will not stand. They cannot pretend to be a house of God while harboring someone who is directing ICE agents to wreak havoc upon our community and who killed Renee Goode, who almost killed a six-month-old baby. Enough is enough.
I am a Reverend on top of being a lawyer and an activist.
So I come here in the power of the Almighty God. All right, so look, here's where we are now. The White House now condemning this, but no statement from President Trump. Which is a little odd. This all happened yesterday, almost 24 hours ago.
The president has yet to actually weigh in. The White House condemned it, but no statement from the president. We understand that I was, as a matter of fact, Hermit Dillon sent me a note last night. Hermit is in charge of the Civil Rights Division. She said they are investigating.
The Attorney General Pam Bondi has ordered an investigation as well, condemning all of this. Um Here's the thing. We don't need more investigations. We need action here. And by the way, it took the local Minneapolis police 45 minutes to arrive.
There's been zero statement from the mayor of St. Paul or Minneapolis. Zero statement coming from Governor Tim Waltz. None whatsoever. And what's ironic is that Tim Waltz was saying at this huge press conference that his greatest fear was that ICE would be invading churches and pulling out parishioners when, in fact, it is the Black Lives Matter mob.
That's doing all of that.
So the question now is. Where does all of this stop? At what point does the President pull the plug and decide, you know what, we're going to invoke the Insurrection Act? The president's getting very bad advice from lots of people inside his administration right now. Lots of bad intel.
Lots of bad advice. Because right now, we need a President of action, not words. We need a President that's going to go ahead and do what needs to be done. And let me just I'm just going to it's hard to make this comparison, but there it's a good it's a good comparison. One of the big problems with the war between Israel and Gaza, it's dragged on too long.
And the reason why, somebody in the Trump administration told Israel, you slow march the war. What Israel should have done is gone in with the full force of Almighty God. and taken out Hamas on day one. That's what they should have done. It should have been shock and awe.
But instead, here we are, and it's a slog and it's ugly, and Israel's losing support. That is what is going to happen in Minnesota and across the rest of the nation if this administration is not careful. That's my big concern. They've got problems in the White House right now. They are off message, and we are not getting a lot done.
And that's not on the president, that's on the team that is supposed to be implementing the president's vision. But we can't have this, folks. We cannot have these mobs storming into church houses. and shutting down worship services. One thing, by the way, if your church doesn't have a professional security team in place, you need to hold a special church meeting and you need to get one.
Very quickly, because I could see something like this happening in Memphis. We have that brand of BLM protester here in Memphis that would do something like that.
Now, you say, why do they target this particular church?
Well, they're alleging one of the staff members works for ICE. And if that's true, Who cares? That's completely irrelevant to what happened here because. What these protesters did, ladies and gentlemen, is a violation of federal law. This is a civil rights violation.
And the fact that they went out there, and we have a lot of audio from this, so we know what they were saying. They were targeting white people specifically. That can be construed as a hate crime on top of whatever charges they face involving something called the FACE Act.
Now, many of you have heard my national show. We broadcast at 11 o'clock, 11 to 2, here on KWAM. And over the past couple of years, during the Biden administration, we told you about how Biden was targeting pro-life Christians. And one of the ways Biden was targeting pro-life Christians, they were using something called the FACE Act, which said you could not impede. A sidewalk in front of an abortion clinic, but there was another part of that.
Face act that did not get a lot of attention. It also said that you cannot interfere with, disrupt, or do anything else to a religious gathering. Therefore, what we just saw what we just saw happen yesterday Is a direct violation. of the FACE Act. I mean, it really is that simple, ladies and gentlemen.
So, we'll see how all of this plays out. I will say this. That there needs to be some action here. And I'm very curious to hear from you as well. Should the president invoke the Insurrection Act, give us a call this morning: 901-260-5926.
That's 901-260-5926. We're going to be taking your calls. Lots more going on here in the Mid South. A lot happening up in Nashville for the launch of the General Assembly. We'll get to more of that.
Also, Vicky Gandy from Cry Like Realtors, she's going to drop by in just a little while as well. But first, let's check in on your morning commute. Here's Commander Chuck. Popular, happy, well-rounded kids across America are being exploited online through a sinister scheme that leaves them broken, defeated, or worse. January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month in the U.S.
And to raise awareness, SalemNow.com is offering Sexploited in America, the four-part talkie series from AGA Media, at Bitcoin. 50% off. Sexploited in America.
Now just $4.99 at SalemNow.com. All right, there is no need to be alarmed here, ladies and gentlemen, but there's a possibility that we could see a little bit of frozen precept later on this week. We're gonna tell you about that. Laura Huckabee's monitoring all of this stuff, and there are several major things that have to be in place for it to ever snow here in the Mid-South. And one of them is you've got to have the cold weather already in place.
So we've got the cold weather. The question is: will it remain cold enough for it to snow? Later this week, we're going to keep an eye on that and just be sure to listen to K-Wham. We're not going to freak you out. We're not going to do, you know, it's like doom, you know, it's like the apocalypse.
It's not the apocalypse. It's just, it's snow. And we'll let you know if that happens. By the way, don't forget tonight, this is huge. The big NCAA college football championship.
You've got the Miami Hurricanes, you've got the Indiana Hoosiers, which is sort of the Cinderella story. of college football and in recent memory. 7:30 tonight Eastern Time. That's 6:30 our time on ESPN. You'll be able to watch the game, but certainly a lot of excitement down in Miami.
And I'm just curious: any of you hosting a big party tonight? It's always weird that they do these games on a Monday night when everybody has to go to work on Tuesday. But I know a lot of you folks are big football fans, and you're going to do the big party.
So, what is your shindig going to look like? Give us a holler: 901-260-5926. That's 901-260-5926. I will say this. Um, whenever I throw a shindig, I I usually go to Oh, great, and uh they normally get me uh they get me set straight.
But there's uh there's a good friend of this program, this radio station, Kristen New, and uh Kristen Hicks. They make the best sausage balls and apple pie I've ever had in my life. I don't know what's in it, but it is addictive. I'll just tell you that. And it's just delicious stuff.
So you can't, they ought to sell it. I don't think they sell, but you have to be a friend of K-Wham if you want a good sausage ball. I guess that's the rule. By the way, last over the weekend, I had an opportunity to go downtown and ran into, of all people, State Senator Brent Taylor. Helen, you were there.
We had a little dinner. We went down to Rendezvous, and you got to see the Peabody Ducks. Yes, it was so fun. I love the ducks. It's strange, right?
It's weird, but it's fun. It was fun seeing them on the top floor in their little home.
So we went up to the rooftop and got the big tour and saw the plantation house and got to see the duck march. We had some of our team operate in other cities. And so it was kind of fun to bring them all downtown to Memphis. Went to Graceland on Friday afternoon. And folks, if you haven't been to Graceland, you got to go to Graceland.
It is so much fun. You're going to learn so much. And by the way, they have a big Lilo and Stitch deck. display, which is Ben Dieter is like a huge Lilo and Stitch fan. I'm not sure what that is, even.
But anyway, they had a big exhibit there. But went to Rendezvous. What did you think about Rendezvous? I thought it was really good. I probably should have gotten the ribs, like everyone else.
You got to get the ribs. Yeah, we're not, we weren't going to judge you.
So, anyway, we're having ribs, and uh, state senator Brent Taylor and his wife were there. Um, what a wonderful time! Got a chance to say hello and visit with him, and then we went down to uh Rumboogie Cafe. Jim Lesapio had a like a little VIP experience for us, which is pretty awesome. And I got to see some amazing bands play from all over the world.
These are blues bands, it was a big competition, and they had bands from as far away as Korea and Australia that were playing the blues, and just a lot of fun. And it just goes back to show you what a fun, quirky, unique city Memphis is. And you got to get downtown, seriously, you got to get downtown, and you got to go check out all the great stuff that's happening down there. All right, 901-260-5926 is our telephone number. That's 901-260-5926.
I want to go back. to Don Lemon. And now, Don Lemon is out there saying, Oh, I was just doing my job as a journalist. We now know that to be not true because we have all the video, a cut number five. You heard what some of the folks said in there, um, you know, that this is uh um they shouldn't be there and you know, they shouldn't be uncomfortable and this is our house and whatever.
That's what protesting is about, is to make people uncomfortable. You may not like it, but I mean, if they went into a church, you know, any church So he goes on, and we'll get the full clip for you there. But again, the idea here is Don Limon says that protesters have a right to go in and interrupt Worship services. And they don't. I mean, the guys, I don't know where this guy's getting all this information.
But they they don't. Another guy, another church member, actually confronted Don Lemon, cut number six. One administration caused a great deal of chaos and havoc and danger for American citizens, and another is trying to correct that. Do you believe that? Honestly, let me tell you just a journalist.
Yes, I am. I want to give you the facts. No, no, no. Did you know that undocumented people immigrants commit far less crime than American citizens? We're done here.
We're done here. We're done. Than natural-born Americans. You won't listen. If you could ask me, I'm giving you the facts.
If you just give me facts, I would have a conversation. I can respond to you. Did Jesus stand with the oppressor? Because he doesn't want to listen to facts. That's the interesting thing about this: they won't listen to facts.
I just don't know. You won't because as a journalist, I am a journalist. I'm cheap. Journalists give facts. And then you start correcting me with facts and don't have.
You shouldn't hear the facts? Of course I shouldn't hear people who are picked up or you're not going to be able to do that. That is the facts on both sides. I'm just done. Don Lemon still has teeth after all of that.
I mean, it was so ugly. He was so confrontational. Going up to these Christians and look, yes, we're supposed to turn the other cheek, but once you turn the other cheek, what do you do then? There is no reason, no reason for Christians to have to sit there and to take this sort of abuse and hostility. And I felt terrible.
There are photos circulating of little children with their parents, like terrified, weeping in the church. And by the way, and this is just, again, something for you men, especially to think about, because this is a responsibility of the men, the men of America. You've got to, whenever you go into a situation, including a church, you've got to make sure. That you are aware of your surroundings and what's going on because you have to protect your family. And that was a difficult situation.
If those people would have had weapons, we would have been talking about a massacre. Because nobody knew what to nobody knew what to do. All right, got to take a quick break here. 901-260-5926, our telephone number. By the way, throwing out this morning's trivia question: it is the birthday of a famous Civil War general.
Today is his birthday. Can you name that Civil War general? 901-260-5926. Our number, that's 901-260-5926. The K-WAM Trivia on this Monday.
Give us a call. We'll be right back, everybody. Popular, happy, well-rounded kids across America are being exploited online through a sinister scheme that leaves them broken, defeated, or worse. Sexploited in America, now just $4.99 at SalemNow.com. Your home for award-winning political news. And good morning. Welcome back, everybody. It is Starnes Country.
We are broadcasting today from the Principal Toyota Memphis studio. If you're looking for a great deal on a car, give my good buddy Todd Lochner a call over at Principal Toyota and tell him Todd Stern sent you over.
Well, always, always an honor at this hour, every Monday, to welcome our good friend Vicki Gandy from Cry Like. Vicki Gandy, go teamgandy.com is her website, talking all things real estate. Vicki, good morning. Good to see you today. Good to see you too, Todd.
Or is it a cold morning? Oh my gosh. No, well, it is. It's very cold, actually. And it was cold out on Beale Street over the weekend as well.
But a lot of fun in room booking. I haven't been to a concert in ages. It was fun, you know, and it was an older crowd, too.
So I felt like people weren't standing on the table. Oh, that's always fun. I was down there as well, and it was so fun to look down Bill Street and just see all the people. It was just so much fun.
So amazing. And so thank you, Senator Brent Taylor, for all of that, because without. Without the senator, we would not be celebrating as we were over the weekend in downtown. Vicki, a lot going on in the world of real estate. And a lot of folks don't understand that it's not just showing up and saying, okay, I want to buy a house.
There are specific roles that people play in real estate. Most definitely. And a lot of people don't understand what these different positions are that we have. We have brokers, we have agents, we have realtors. And one of the things that we were, you know, I thought people would like to know what the difference is.
And there is a pretty significant difference. A real estate person, just a real estate agent, they can just get their license and start practicing real estate. They do have to get under a broker. You know, a broker does have to carry their license. You can't just go out there and sell a house.
You have to have a broker carry your license. Broker is responsible for their agents that they have under them. And so that is really, really important. A broker can sell homes as well, but they have a huge job. It's like herding cats.
I mean, like our broker has about 30, 40 agents, you know, and they have to keep up with all that we're doing, or even more, you know, at Cry Like.
So it's really. It's really something. But we definitely one thing about a real estate agent between a real estate agent and a realtor, realtor is a licensed professional who facilitates property transactions, et cetera. And we are a member of the National Association of Realtors. And that makes a big significant difference because that Having that membership, which is a lot of work, a lot more classes, a lot more training we continually do.
We have to adhere to a strict code of ethics and high standards of conduct. And if we don't, we get kicked out. Boom, you're gone.
So, what's the difference between, like, say, a broker and an agent?
Well, an agent is just they can sell real estate. But a broker can sell real estate and they also have to, you know, we have to have our license with a broker. We can't just go out there and sell. A broker has to hold our license. If you go in one of our offices, you'll see all these licenses on the wall.
They have to be out in public. And that's one of the things that has to be done, and they are responsible. And if something happens and we're finding in trouble, that broker will be finding in trouble as well.
So they're going to keep us in line, which is a good thing. Are there some important things that the buyer and seller need to know going into purchasing a home?
Well, the one thing about they you really want to have a realtor. A realtor also has to work under a broker, too. But the thing is, we have to follow a code of ethics. We have to gain access. We have a lot of industry resources training, multiple listing to MLS, which is huge because, as you know, I've been sending you houses and driving you crazy.
But the thing is, if you don't have that realtor training, and we have tons of ethical practices we have to follow. And we also take on an additional ethical and professional obligations that go beyond basic real estate law. In other words, I'm on the Governmental Affairs Committee for National Associa I mean, excuse me, for multiple listening service here in Memphis. And we also We're not just selling real estate. We're doing a lot of things to help our community.
And that's one of the things that they want us to be involved in with National Association of Realtors.
So let's talk about a facilitator. What is that? A facilitator is basically Involves guiding buyers and sellers in agreement without representing either party, which is kind of interesting. It'd be like you'd say, Vicki, I'm selling my house and a person comes along and says, Todd, I'd like you to just work with you and Vicki, and that's it. I don't need my own agent.
I always, always recommend another agent coming in, having representation, but some people don't want that.
So, what we have to do basically is is we'd have to keep up with deadlines, communications, make sure everything flows smoothly, and we have to build trust and resolve with between this and keep conflict. But we can't disclose to each other, to each one, what's going on. I can't represent either one. I'm just there to kind of like facilitate the con the transaction. Vicki Gandy with Cry Like Realtors.
Go Teamgandy.com is the website address. That's go teamgandy.com. You mentioned that you're looking, I'm actually trying to buy a house. And one of the big challenges, and I just don't know why this is just so unique to Memphis, but any other city, they're building new condos. There are homes.
I just, we don't have that here, you know, and it's so aggravating.
Well, the city of Memphis. Doesn't want to build as much or expand anymore, especially outside of the city. They and Memphis like gas and water is controlled by them.
So we do have some issues with that. We have builders who have gone forward to start developing and then they're ready to put in utilities and That's not happening. And so it's something that we're working on. In fact, Brent Tyler is actually talking about stepping in. Oh, that's well.
Well, that's good to know because I don't need a. I mean, again, here's the problem: you have really, really nice houses. And then you have nothing, you know. And it's like, I don't need a seven-bedroom house, you know, with eight bathrooms. I know, but I would like that, you know, a home that is built, you know, the same style of construction that's maybe a two-bedroom or a three-bedroom, or just build some condos that are, you know, more, I don't say high-end, but you know.
Well, that's the thing. And then condos, condos are great, but condos are expensive because you have HOAs and, you know, you have to keep up with everything with that. And, you know, condos, my son Thomas has a condo and he loves it, but it is expensive. You know, it's it the as compared as if you just buy a single-family dwelling home and they need to build more like town home type things is what you're talking about it that can be you know there's large enough and don't have a lot of land that's most people that want that want like you don't want a huge five acre yard that you have to get on your tractor and mow every week and that's the thing that's but there needs to be more of that and there are out there but they're hard to find the one thing i miss in new york city i did have a great apartment right it was you know um 35th floor overlooking the east river oh wow and you we just don't and it was a brand new it was a brand new tower which was i i really enjoyed that but it would just be nice to if we could start you know seeing some of that development happen you know here in here in the mid-south you do have some of it on the river it's really Pretty down there, but it is quite the drive. And you're looking at, you have to be here at what 5:30 in the morning, 6 o'clock.
But still, and still, a lot of those were built 20, 25 years ago.
Some of them, even 50 or 60 years old. Exactly. And that is a problem. And that's, in fact, I have a friend that lives in one of them, and she's calling me saying, I think we're ready to, you know, get back down on the ground. They're like, like you say, on the 30th floor, and there's advantages, but she said it's an old building, and we have to keep it up.
And it is a lot of expense. Yeah. Wow. I hear you. All right, Vicki, where can people go if they want to get more information about you?
Of course, my website, go teamgandy.com. And you can call me at 901-412-2691. And I've had a couple of people reach out to me with questions, so I'm excited about that. And call me about anything about real estate. I love that.
And again, folks, Vicki Gandy is helping me find a house. She will help you find a house as well. Just give her a call: 901-412-2691. That's 412-2691. GoTeamGandy.com is the website.
Again, Vicki Gandy, cry like. Realtors, Vicki, always good to see you. Oh, great to see you too, Todd. And y'all say warm. It is cold out there.
All right. Hang tight, everybody. Got to take a quick break. Let's check in with Parker May standing by with your sports update. Popular, happy, well-rounded kids across America are being exploited online through a sinister scheme that leaves them broken, defeated, or worse.
January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month in the U.S. And to raise awareness, SalemNow.com is offering Sexploited in America, the four-part talkie series from AGA Media, at 50% off. Sexploited in America now, just $4.99 at SalemNow.com. Yeah, it's a little chilly outside today, everybody. Welcome back.
This is Starnge Country. We are broadcasting from the Principal Toyota Memphis studio. Great to have you with us today. By the way, an update: we can now confirm the Justice Department has launched a civil rights investigation after that Minnesota church was stormed by the BLM mob yesterday, and we will see how all of that plays out. They do great at investigations, but this is beyond investigations.
Now we've got to start seeing some people going to jail. And I don't know about you, but I. Look, I say, do unto them as they have been doing unto us. And that means pre-dawn guns-drawn raids. I want Don Lemmon dragged out of his home.
And I want it all broadcast on Newsmax. I want the live cameras there as it all goes down. That's what I think needs to happen here.
So anyway, our good buddy Dr. Paul Chample, and you hear the worship services from Lancaster Baptist Church right here exclusively on the Mighty 990 every Sunday morning. This is a massive, it's a mega church, a Baptist megachurch out of California. And Dr. Champel's a dear friend of mine.
And last night, he posted something.
Well, they have a church service. They're one of the churches that still do Sunday night service. I know a lot of the churches don't do Sunday night, so you can stay home and watch football or whatever. Hold on, I'm sorry.
So you can have family time. My bad. But anyway, this church still has Sunday night church service.
So, Dr. Chample. Decided to address this. He was texting me last night. This is a great story.
I'm working. I'm working on the final chapters of my book, and my phone's going bonkers. Dr. Chapel's calling me, and I can hear him walking. He was literally walking to the sanctuary.
He said, Todd, just found out about what happened in Minneapolis. Give me a blow-by-blow because I'm going to address this from the pulpit. And so I'm telling him whatever information I have at the time. And he was like, all right, great, got to go. As a matter of fact, he's literally calling me right now.
But that's weird. Let's listen to Dr. Chapel. Today in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a group of activists led by Don Liman. stormed a Baptist church by the name of Cities Church.
during their worship time. They were screaming and chanting, disrupting the singing and the preaching. because they suspected an ICE officer may attend the church. This is a violation of what is known as the FACE Act. And not only do we condemn this act, But tonight, I want to demand that the Department of Justice investigate what took place in Minneapolis.
Apprehend those who broke the law and arrest them accordingly. We must protect religious liberty in this country. As people meet to worship God, They have been given legally the right to enter. to worship and to leave their place of worship. The Lord Jesus said, in the world, You will have tribulation.
But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world. I have preached for many years that There will come a time When will Find out. Who are Christians by label and by convenience? And who are Christians by Conviction.
Yeah, it's um It's a powerful message that he had. And Dr. Chappelle, I just spoke with him during the as we were playing the audio. And he'll be joining us, I think, on our national show at 11 o'clock this morning to provide some more context for that. But you know, it's interesting when you look at the churches across America, and I don't want to paint with a broad brush at all, but many of our churches and many of our largest churches have disengaged.
From what's happening, they've become very insular. They have their own coffee shops, and cafes, and gyms, and bookstores, and all of those things are just fine. There's nothing inherently wrong with any of that at all. But the problem is, you start looking inward as opposed to outward. And I think that's especially happened here in the Mid-South.
And I will say, out of all the places that I've lived over the years, this is the least engaged church community I've seen in the South. And I don't know why that is. I know some churches are just so afraid. To address the big issues of the day because you know they don't want to offend anybody, they don't want to upset the apple cart, um, they don't want to have a target painted on them, so they just, you know, the easy way out is just not to talk about those issues that are important to the culture, to the times of the day. I will say this.
Not many churches in our area, for example, addressed the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Not all, I mean, there were some who did, but by and large, most churches just sort of, you know, let that pass by. They pass that moment by. And that's sad because a lot of people And I would suspect when you look at this congregation. And what I found ironic is that there were some people in the congregation who were anti-ICE, who did not support ICE doing what they were doing in their city.
But they're Christians and they're going to worship and they came under attack just like everybody else.
So, yeah, you're always going to have people of different backgrounds and viewpoints attending your church. But at the same time, you should be able as a minister of the gospel to talk about the culture and how the Bible, how the Bible should. Play into addressing the big issues of the day. You know, our founding fathers did that. You know, the pastors during that era of American history did that, so much so.
That on election day, before people went and cast their ballot on election day, they would go to church first, they would hear a sermon from the pastor, and they would there, whatever big issue they were facing, the preacher was normally preaching a sermon about that.
So you could say that the church heavily influenced the politics of of the day. But if you want to know what's wrong in Memphis, I think by and large a lot of it is a Um limp wristed church community. And I'm not saying everybody is that way. But I'm saying enough are that it's a problem. And that's one of the reasons why this particular part, this section of Tennessee, is in the throes of chaos.
Because we are not focused on We're not focused on God. And we're looking for the government to fix what is broken here, and it's not the government's role. I'm just, no, I'm just saying it's, I mean, that's just, that's just my take on it. Anyway, 901-260-5926, our telephone number, that's 901-260-5926. There was one church, I can't remember the name of it, they got triggered right away.
I was, um, this was right as Black Lives Matter was happening. I just moved back. And they were actually having a Bible study for their white church members. This is a mega one of these one of our mega churches. And they were doing a Bible study where they were having the white people apologize for their for their skin color at Bible study.
I just, I actually wanted to go. I should have gone incognito. I should have gone. Hello, my name is Todd. I'm an unrepentant white person.
I just want to come and confess my pigmentation.
Okay. I should have done that. That was a missed opportunity. I'm disappointed.
So, anyway, it is what it is. Oh, by the way, State Representative Justin Jones has now weighed in. Remember him? He was, he and Justin Pearson, and who was Gloria? What's Gloria?
I forgot Gloria's name. They were like the double stuff Oreo mob up on Capitol Hill in Nashville. Here's Justin Jones talking about ice. Also, you know, I've always been telling people that we have to get back to the ABCs of organizing, that we need agitation before, you know, collaboration. You know, in my state here in Tennessee, we're seeing the opposite of what we're seeing in Minnesota, where we're having the state government partner with these terror agents from ICE and say, how can we expedite this and how can we increase and expand these operations in our state?
And so we are saying that we must agitate before we collaborate with these forces of violence. And it's not the first time we face them. Here in Tennessee, we had another terror group who used to wear masks and hide their identities known as the KKK. Oh, for heaven's sakes.
So there you go, ladies and gentlemen. That is Justin Pierce. You know what I find fascinating about all of this? And maybe it's just, I don't know. Maybe it's just a coincidence.
They go after the Jews and the Christians, right? They've been targeting synagogues. And God bless our Jewish community here in Memphis because they have some of the best security, and it is very visible. And they are protected when they go into their synagogues on Saturdays. That needs to happen in the church community as well.
But it is very interesting. The Muslims never have to worry about that. For whatever reason, you're not going to find a mob like this storming. A mosque Anywhere in America. Have you noticed that?
Is it just me? But they just give the Muslims a pass. But I'd like to think we could all agree that, you know what, Sundays, where whatever week, whatever day you worship, you ought to be able to worship God without having Don Lemon show up and stick a microphone in your face. All right, gotta leave it there, everybody. Been a great day.
