Now playing. For tickets, go to soul on firemovie.com. On fun. From the Mighty 990 Broadcast Center, you're waking up in Starnes Country with Todd Starnes. All right, we need a fireplace here in Stearns Country.
Hello, everybody. It's a little cool out there today, 54 degrees here in East Memphis, and I have a suspicion it's about the same where you are. It is going to be a great, great day. Enjoy all of this great weather because this weekend we're going to have to batten down the hatches. Laura Huckabee says, Yeah, there's going to be some big-time thunderboomers moving through the mid-south.
We'll be telling you more about that. Right now, it is hot. Humped, is it hump day? It is hump day, ladies and gentlemen. Sweet mercy.
I thought Monday was Friday, so that's how long this week is going to be. We have got a lot of crazy stories to tell you about, and we're going to get to those in just a moment. But I've got to tell you about what's happening Friday. Our spring fling was so successful, we have decided to do a fall fling. And you say, Todd, what are we flinging and why?
Well, we're not flinging anything except maybe good biscuits and food and cinnamon buns and all that kind of great stuff. We're going to be gathering at the Pharmacy Coffee House in Bartlett. If you haven't been to the Pharmacy Coffee House, you don't know what you're missing. It is really the place to go to in Bartlett. We're going to be traveling all over the Mid South and on Fridays during the fall.
We're going to be broadcasting from diners and coffee shops. Oh, yeah, JoJo's. Yeah, we're coming. Uh-huh. We are.
It's going to be a lot of fun. We'll tell you more about the JoJo's event coming up soon. But right now, Now we're kicking everything off Friday at the pharmacy coffee house. You say, well, what does that mean? It means we're doing our entire show from the coffee house.
And we want you to be there and we want you to join us. You're going to have a great time. We are going to have some incredible guests and you're going to be able to get great coffee. You're going to get some great breakfast food as well. And if you haven't been over there, you don't know what you're missing.
So that is all happening Friday, 7 o'clock at the Pharmacy Coffee House. And we'll tell you more about that tomorrow. And we will see you there on Friday.
Well, a lot of news happening. And of course, yesterday, big press conference. And it's, folks, can I just say something about the media? And we're going to get to our good buddy Mark Randall with this. explosive scandal happening in DeSoto County.
But How how would you judge? The media coverage of the liberation of Memphis. How would you judge them? Because what I'm seeing right now is a lot of hatred towards the National Guard, towards the federal agents. And now you have TV stations like Channel 3 that are actually calling into question, and this is going to be the new narrative, calling into question the actual numbers of people that have been arrested.
That number now knocking on the door of nearly 900 people that have been arrested. And probably one of the most important components of the story: at least 44 children have been rescued, missing children rescued. And instead of celebrating that, the local TV reporters are demanding access. I think they actually want to physically see the children. Otherwise, they're not going to be able to verify the numbers.
So they're basically telling you the government is lying, that really nobody's getting arrested. No children have been rescued. These people in local media are either ignorant or they're on the side of the criminal gangbanger thugs. And either way is not a good look for them. You can put a lot of makeup on that, but it's still butt ugly.
901-260-5926. If you want to weigh in on the media coverage, we're going to get to what Mayor Lee Harris said in just a moment as well. 901-260-5926. But we got to talk. About what's going on down in DeSoto County because there's some freaky crap going down.
in uh North Mississippi. Here's a story, and again, I don't want to curdle your fruit loops this morning, but it's not a pretty story. This is the headline: A former youth minister pleads guilty to the sexual battery of a child. Her name is Lindsay Whiteside. A former youth minister at Getwell Church in Hernando, she was also a former basketball coach at DeSoto Central High School in South Haven.
And she is, many people thought, going to jail. As a matter of fact, that's exactly what the district attorney was hoping for. He was the prosecutor is wanting her to go away for thirty years. That's how serious the crimes were against this uh this child But instead, a sitting school board member, a vice principal, teachers in the school system all begged the judge to have mercy on this person. and as a result, the judge sentenced this woman to three years of house arrest.
It's insane.
So instead of wearing orange and being behind bars, this woman's going to be sitting in her lazy boy watching Netflix. And doing Lord knows what.
Well, I want to go to the Patriot Mobile newsmaker line, the man who's been following this case from day one, Mark Randall. And Mark, good to have you with us. This is appalling, and the district attorney here is rightfully enraged over this. Oh, what a difference that they make. You know, not only did you have a, do you have a sitting School board member, nine teachers, and assistant principal.
Church members. But now, another one who's been ensnared in this whole controversy is a former South Haven chief of police, Macon Moore, who also wrote. Letter.
Now, this is a man who has 30. 34 years of police experience. basically like he's hindering the prosecution of a crime.
So Add him to the list now. And at some point, Mark, hold on. I want to make sure people understand here. We're not talking about the charge here, isn't it? This youth pastor, female basketball coach, girls' basketball coach, was flirting.
I mean, there was a mountain of evidence against her. Is that correct? Oh, there were sixty-four thousand pages. of text messages, handwritten notes on church stationery. She groomed this child.
This was a a child.
So She she lured in, you know, got her in her in her to Trust her. This is a youth pastor, you know, listened to her and just absolutely groomed her. And then the things she did to her are just horrific and could never be repeated on radio, of course.
So no, this is a horrific crime, what she did. This is this is beyond me. And I know that Mark Randall or Mark Randall, rather Matthew Barton, the district attorney there, Mark, is now calling for the school board member to step down because of the public letter that was written in defense of this sex predator.
Well, his point is, you know, listen, these are, these are a adults, and especially someone who represents children at children at the school. This is an adult who's Supposed to be protecting children, signing a letter that says. You know, oh no, she's really a good person. Please go easy on her. No, in no way, shape, or form, as a district attorney said.
Is this ever, ever? Yeah.
Now I haven't heard back from Ms. Henley, but apparently she's now throwing her daughter under the bus and saying, well, my daughter asked me to write this letter.
So, what the district attorney is asking for now is he's saying, first of all, he's filing a motion that says, first of all, This house arrest sentence is illegal under Mississippi law, so he's hoping to have that set have that set aside completely. But at a minimum, you know, at some point, he's going to ask that this case be unsealed so that we can see who. Who are the nine teachers? Who is that assistant principal? Who wrote these letters on behalf of this?
Well, just call her what she is. sexual predators. Yeah, I think it's important for people to know. I mean, if you're a vice principal and your kid is under that individual's instruction and that vice principal has no problem palling around with the sex predator, I think as a parent, I would sort of like to know that information.
Well, Todd, it's hard enough to get victims, as you know, victims of crime, especially these types of crimes, to come forward, let alone a child.
So, what kind of message does this send? That, well, chief, you know, if I have teachers, you know, supporting. supporting my abuser. Who can I trust? Can I go to my teacher?
Can I go to my principal? Can I go to my pastor at my own church?
So it's very it's very disturbing. Very, very disturbing. But yes. They are putting the heat on her. He's asked for her to publicly resign.
There's a petition out there online that's really gaining traction.
So this story isn't quite over. Yeah, it's just odd. Why would a school board member support a convicted, well, you know, sex offender? I mean, she pled guilty. She is going to have to register as a sex offender.
Do we know anything about, does she have like photos of all these people? I'm just trying to understand why would they put themselves in the position of publicly defending a known child predator?
Well, Miss Whiteside has apparently her family is very well connected with in the education community. Her father was the very first coach of the DeSoto Central basketball team. He's since deceased. In fact, the gymnasium at the photo. Central is named after him.
She has a lot of friends. I mean, Todd, two judges had to recuse themselves because they had ties to the Family.
So the family's very well known. But again, Mr. Barton has been really good on this by saying that listen, you're not going to be remembered for anything your father did. You're not going to be remembered for anything that your family did in education. You're going to be remembered for exactly what you are.
And that's a child sex predator.
So She pro the family ha Apparently, he has a lot of friends. But also, Todd, you had people that, and adults, and fellow churchgoers to. who went on social media and were defending this. woman with again not knowing all the facts But it's even more disturbing when you have people that you go to church with who We're siding with this woman. What's the name of the church?
Do we know the name of the church? Yes, it's Get Well Church in Hernando. I mean, Todd, this could probably rip that church apart, and rightfully so, in my opinion.
Well, again, if you got church members, this is insane. This story, Mark, keep us updated on all of this. But as it stands now, this woman, you said 64,000 text messages. Is that what? Oh, yeah, I was.
Oh yes. mountain ever Flam dunk case. There's no way any lawyer would let. This client let their client go with this amount of evidence. No way.
Three years under house arrest. Unbelievable. All right, Mark. Yeah, go ahead, Mark. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt the first thing.
What I said is: you know, you had Matthew Barton said himself, he said, you had a liberal judge from Oxford. who came in and basically said in court side that Jail is for scary people and you know, you know, people like her, you don't scare me.
Well, he came back and said, Well, you know, you know what? As a father, yeah, they scare me and they should scare everybody else, you know, uh, should scare everybody else who has uh children.
So His point is that elections matter, people. He's saying, look, you've got to pay attention to court. You've got to pay attention to these judges. You've got to pay attention to your school board members. you you only the only checks they have are voters.
All right, Mark Randall in DeSoto County. Mark, thank you. A great reporting there. And yeah, my inbox has been fired up over this. A lot of our listeners down in DeSoto County, Hernando South Haven, just enraged over this.
This is jaw-dropping, ladies and gentlemen. But in DeSoto County, you have a school board member, you have teachers, you have a vice principal, and church members now supporting a convicted sex predator. 901-260-5926. That's 901-260-5926. Let's check in with Commander Chuck standing by with a look at your traffic.

Now playing. For tickets, go to SoulOnFireMovie.com. Oh. All right, Cassie said we don't have. A fireplace here at the newsbunker, but we do have heat, so we'll crank that up a little bit.
Hello, it's now 55 degrees here at East Memphis at the Broadcast Center. Hope you're doing well today. Our telephone number: 901-260-5926. That's 901-260-5926. I'm going to be announcing this a lot because all of our short-term memories are shot this morning.
By the way, I want to say a big hello to our good buddy Ben Dieter, who's already up and at him in our nation's capital. I think we were getting messages. I should have told Dieter this. I shouldn't share this on the air, but I'm going to. Cassie, we've got a lot of listeners that are concerned, you know, because of the government shutdown.
And Ben Dieter is an essential government worker. I had no idea who knew, but Dieter is essential, but he's still not getting paid. He has to go in. He's got to, you know, do the nine to five or sometimes the nine to nine. And the poor guy's not getting paid.
So we've had people literally wanting to drop by like a care package for the Dieter. Aw, like Venmo him or something. No, I think they like literally our good buddy from Wolf River Popcorn actually dropped over Popcorn and asked us to mail it to Dieter. That's a dangerous thing here in the building. I'm just saying.
It'll get there. It'll get there. It'll get there. All right. By the way, welcome back from Vacation.
You have a good fall break. I did, yeah. Nice. I hear you went to Niagara Falls. I went to Niagara Falls.
No, I didn't fall in. I stayed. I was safe. And I went, I took some pictures and I brought home a fridge magnet.
Well, very nice.
Well, you got to have the magnets. Yeah.
I collect those. Oh, I've never heard of the spoons before. Oh, really? No.
So you collect magnets. Yeah.
Is a spoon like a... Gen X thing? No, it's like a boomer thing, I think. I don't know. There may be somebody out there listening who does that, but it's like when you're traveling, you know, you get like a souvenir from each location you go to.
Yeah.
And I know my grandmother used to do this. She used to collect spoons and you would have like these commemorative spoons. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? Or maybe I'm just making this up. I've never heard of that.
Well, I'm sure somebody out there remembers, and they may still have them. I don't know. But do you collect spoons? I you know, we w we would go down to the Redneck Riviera, which is now, of course, the Gulf of America. And uh we would always come back with with, you know, Tourist spoons.
The spoons are magic. Spoon souvenirs.
Well, there you go. All right. 901-260-5926. And I think that's what they're called. I don't know, but they're spoons that have some sort of like a decal or something from whatever exotic location.
Can we talk about Mayor Lee Harris for just a moment? Because this guy is insane.
So, Mayor Harris is now throwing the race card down, and that's how these people do. Every time they lose the argument, it's all about race. And that's exactly what's happening. Yesterday, Mayor Harris holds the race. Holding a press conference with representatives of the Hispanic community.
And the mayor said that he's getting multiple uncomfortable reports of racial profiling, mostly from the Latino crowd. He says that one Shelby County employee was pulled over at a stoplight and detained while showing officers his documentation. The employee said he concluded That he was stopped because the officer noticed he is Latino. All right, well, no, that was his conclusion. That was his opinion, right?
There's no proof of that. But regardless, again, the mayor makes it sound like this was some sort of, you know, they put him in handcuffs, put it in the back. No, he got detained, he got pulled over. That's being detained. You know, a couple of months ago, I was lane changing, got pulled over.
I was detained. That's what happens to you when you are pulled over by the authorities, Mr. Mayor. And by the way, the guy was let go. And why was that?
Because he had his documentation. Oh, you have to have your documentation. Yes, it's called a driver's license, sir. It's also called registration. It's called an insurance card, Mr.
Mayor. Got one of those, sir? And by the way, where is the mayor where when you've got these officers coming out and saying, oh, guess what? We've rescued I said forty four, it is now forty five children, forty five missing children rescued, nearly 900 gangbangers and thugs off the streets. Where is the Mayor at that press conference?
So now Mayor Harris is saying that the National Guard is bad for the economy because he said people are staying home, that people don't want to go out anymore, and they're hiding in their homes. No, no, no, Mr. Mayor, they were hiding in their homes because they didn't want to get carjacked. But now the reporting we're getting is that people are flocking back to downtown, people are going to the restaurants, people are going to the clubs, and people have this semblance of safety now. because of all of the troops that are marching.
And by the way, twelve hundred twelve hundred federal assets are boots on the ground right now in Memphis, and the governor says they may be here forever. And I don't think he was joking.
So anyway. The issue here is this. If you are here illegally and you commit a crime. then you are going back across the border. And by the way, if you are here illegally and I've heard this from the Democrats, well, it's not a crime it's not a crime, Todd, to be here illegally.
It's just a misdemeanor. That's all it is. It's a misdemeanor Well, I hate to break it to you, but a misdemeanor is a crime, you pinheads Unbelievable. By the way, and they won't admit this. But one of the reasons you've got long-standing business in places like Midtown, and by the way, the Cooper Young area is getting hammered by this.
The reason why these businesses are shutting down, like Palladio, The reason why is people don't want to go into these crime-infested areas. and unfortunately Cooper Young is a crime infested area. And the Libtards that live over there, they don't even want to admit it. They would rather themselves get carjacked. Then have to admit That they've got a crime problem in their neighborhoods.
I mean, it's true. Unfortunate, but it's true. All right, 901-260-5926. Our telephone number, that's 901-260-5926. By the way, um You've got community leaders now telling the youths of Shelby County, you can't make this up, telling the youth of Shelby County to stand down and don't make it worse.
In other words, behave. How difficult is that? Just Tell the young people to behave. It's not all that difficult, really. All right, gotta take a break here, folks.
901-260-5926, our number. That's 901-260-5926. Gotta take a break. We'll be right back. From director Sean McNamara comes Soul on Fire, based on a true story.
They said you had no chance, but here you are. Starring Joel Courtney, John Corbett, Stephanie Shostak, Macy McLean, with Devon Franklin and William H. Macy. Well, it is Wednesday, and here at the Mighty Night Any, it's all about protecting you and your family. And that also includes your bank account. And we're so honored to have our great, great, great friends from Strategic Financial Partners, Chris Loftus and Adam Martin with us. Guys, good to see you this morning. Good morning.
Good morning. Wow. All right. So we've got a lot to talk about here. People are trying to get health benefits in order.
Order, also understanding disability benefits as well.
So let's just jump right into it. When somebody comes in and visits you guys, how do you help them evaluate whether their coverage is appropriate for what they need?
Well, it all starts with just looking at their benefits at work. Typically, that's 60% of their income. I really want to focus in on the disability side of stuff.
So, we like to call that income protection. And there's a big misconception around: I don't need disability insurance, I have it at work, but it's like You go from 100% of your pay to 60% most of the time. How does that make you feel? And your number one asset is your ability to earn an income. Absolutely.
Well, and to add off of that, We ask people nine times out of ten when they walk in, they say, Hey, what shop should I be enrolled in? And we say, well, hey, what's your greatest asset?
Well, they might say it's a car. They might say it's their house.
Some people say it's their family. That's all well and good. Those are important things. But what people don't realize, and this is where we're trying to change the narrative, is that their most important asset is their capacity to work and make an income.
Now, you're protecting your house with house insurance. You're protecting your car with car insurance. Why aren't you protecting your most important asset, which is your ability to work and make an income, provide for your family, keep the lights on? And that's a fair thing. And, you know, I will just use myself as a personal example of this.
You know, I have a mechanical heart valve and something I had surgery about 20 years ago. And so when I was out, you know, I was out for six weeks. And so what did I do?
Well, fortunately, I had that disability insurance, and you can either do short-term or long-term. And at least I was covered.
So I was still getting a salary. I was still getting pay through that really crazy time. And people, you know, again, I went in thinking I had a case of bronchitis. You know, I had no idea I was going to have. Open heart surgery.
So, to your point, guys, you never know when something crazy might happen. Absolutely.
Well, and to quote some of your listeners, to quote Ben Franklin, who I hope some of your listeners are at least a little familiar with, Todd, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. And that's kind of our mentality about this: whether it's employee benefits, whether your employee benefits don't cover enough, you need additional benefits outside of You know, your employer coverage. We want to make sure as advisors that we're looking at the bigger picture: hey, let's not just say, okay, yeah, I'm going to sign along the dotted line, click the re-enroll every year, and call a date. No, we want to pay attention to, hey, you know, what are some of those optional benefits? What are some of the stuff that, hey, it might cost you a couple extra bucks off your paycheck or it might cost you a little bit off pocket, but in the long run, you're going to be glad you had it rather than not.
So let's talk about how do we do that. What do people need to? They're going to go, they're going to call you guys. They're going to show up at Strategic Financial Partners. What's the first step in making sure you get that disability coverage?
We're going to look to see what you have in place first. We're not going to try to just put something in place if you've got adequate coverage.
So, you know, the thing about insurance is that it's all language driven. And if you're not speaking that language, you're not fluent in that language, you need to consult a professional that does speak it because you don't want to leave this to chance. You don't want to go about your life and a disability incident happens, and then all of a sudden we're taking money out of our retirement that's meant for longer down you know longer term down the road, or we're depleting assets that we had allocated for another major purchase or a goal.
So we want to read through the language, make sure that everything is squared away, and if we need to add more, we will. But just sit down with us, let's have a conversation, and we'll be able to identify. And you know, Adam, another thing that I think we talk with people a lot about is just the details, because it's not as complicated as people. Trick themselves into thinking it is. I mean, there's details that everybody should be aware of.
Like with disability, it's hey, is the benefit taxable? What is the elimination period? How much income actually needs to be replaced in your household? With health, it's more so what's the total cost? What's the coverage cost?
And then, you know, like certain people prefer a certain provider. What are providers? What are the provider networks available? Again, joining us here from Strategic Financial Partners Chris Loftus and Adam Martin. Guys, can we talk about.
Open enrollment because I think a lot of people get confused over that when it is, when it happens, what they need to do when open enrollment comes.
So, Chris, I'm going to let you take that one.
Well, so with open enrollment, it varies for company to company, but typically we're in peak open enrollment season right now, October.
Some people, it starts November. Certain people, I've talked to some people, they have their companies, they do it staggered to where some benefits open up in October, other benefits open up in November.
So when it comes to us and we're talking to people, we want to make sure, A, that they're aware and they know exactly what to be looking for. I'm working with a couple of people right now where they're like, hey, this opens up on October 1st, but these don't open up until November 1st. Do we need to go ahead and get something? I said, no, wait. Wait until we can make sure that you get what's already given to you for free.
And then we'll make a calculated, informed decision on whether we need to move forward with anything else. You know, I'd say, too, a lot of times people chase the dollar too much. They want to jump from job to job because I can make $1 more an hour somewhere else. But open enrollment is a great time to really evaluate the benefits that are available to you from your employer. And they're there to keep themselves competitive.
With the marketplace, so that they can retain good employees.
So it's a great time to sit down and see what my company provides. That way, we can be taking advantage of things that you don't have to come out of pocket for. And then it may make a decision of, hey, I like this company even more and I don't want to go to another job. All right, so let's talk in again. You guys are going to walk people through this.
So, you know, there's not going to be any potholes or surprises along the way, but there are some oversights. What are some of the more common ones that people need to be aware of during open enrollment? Yeah, I would say the HSA accounts. A lot of times people are in high-deductible plans and they don't really understand fully what a health savings account is. They often relate it to an FSA, which is the use it or lose it type of plan.
So that one has a lot of benefits that could help people long term.
So that's one we see overlooked a bunch. We see that there's opportunities to buy supplemental life insurance through their employer.
So it's not just what the employer is paying for. You can actually get. One, maybe two, maybe three times your base salary at pennies on the dollar compared to what we'd have to go and shop in the marketplace.
So it's a great time to sit down and say, hey, can I save you some money and get you the same amount of benefits just by looking at what's available through your employer? And I know there's somebody out there saying, wait a second, I thought these guys were like finance guys. Why are we talking about health insurance? It's all connected, Todd. Everything, you know, if you look at the long-term plan.
Right. This has a direct correlation to your long-term plan. What you do now versus delaying to Do something later, you're still going to be stuck making the same decisions when you're 40, 50 years old. You know, just to piggyback off of something Adam was saying, another optional benefit that people overlook is long-term care. I talked to many people where I asked them, Hey, do you have a long-term care benefit?
And they said, Oh, I do, but it's optional, so I didn't enroll in it. I said, why not? I said, oh, why don't need it? I said, well, yeah, you don't need it now, but are you planning on staying at this company as of right now? They said, oh, yeah.
I said, well, why don't you do it? And so it gets people thinking to where, hey, put yourself in the driver's seat of making a future plan. I feel like people in my generation, this younger crowd, is just starting to come into our own of saying, okay, hey, maybe I want to start playing a future and making some concrete plans. Yeah, Chris. Yeah, I would say that for the younger, I wanna really want to pour into those guys, especially the younger listeners.
The importance of adding these things to your portfolio. It's not just about investing into the stock market and the bonds and crypto and all the things that are over social media. You know, you want to build a base layer of protection so that when a life event happens, you're not unloading all of those positions and having to make a rash decision in the spur of the moment.
So, these things actually, what we call the risk mitigation level of your planning. We're comprehensive planners, so we can stay in that lane as long as you want to, or we can get it. What we need and move on and move on to the stuff that it really is the investments. I want to circle back, though, to the disability part of this. I just think this is so vitally important because I had no idea as a young person that I would need something like that.
And that really saved my life, I mean, it really saved my financial life.
So, I just, again, it is so vitally important.
Somebody who is young, I mean, we've all seen the news: people are driving 120, well, they used to be driving 120 miles an hour on high-240. You're in a car accident, something crazy happens, and you're laid up at home. You need to make sure that you are prepared for something like that. Absolutely.
Well, and you want to make sure that you, as a young adult with money in your pocket, You're protecting yourself at the end of the day. We can't stress that enough at the end of the day. When you are making adult decisions in terms of whether it's investing, whether it's Covering yourself, self-insuring, whether it's providing for a family. We have many young clients with young families, young children that, hey, if they can't get up and out at work, how are you putting food on the table? How are you keeping the lights on?
And we're going to, you know, we're not going to try two hares with one dog here. We're going to take one thing at a time, address it step by step, and prioritize things. And number one, first and foremost, is going to be: how are you doing, how are you protecting your income? I'll tell you the best advice I ever got was free, and it was from my dad. And he told me, he said, you know, there's two ways you can live life.

No, Chris, you know nothing. You're a child. No, I'm just kidding. But, Adam, isn't it sad, though, they don't teach the young people of America about our great. Great film history.
Things like My Cousin Vinny. They don't make movies like they used to. That's true. It's true. It's really sad.
And I deal with this with the staff here all the time. It's like, guys. What are they teaching you? What are they teaching you folks in college? No culture.
Unfortunately. Oh, it's sad. Their homework is to go home and watch my cousin Benny. That's it. And then followed up by Anchorman.
And so, whenever we have somebody from San Diego calling, it's always San Diego.
So, yeah. Anyway. All right, we will leave it there. Guys, great to see you. And again, Strategic Financial Partners, we'll see y'all here next Wednesday.

From director Sean McNamara comes Soul on Fire, based on a true story. They said you had no chance, but here you are.
Starring Joel Courtney, John Corbett, Stephanie Shostak, Macy McLean, with Devon Franklin and William H. Macy. If you focus exactly on loving the life that you're living right now, not the life that you think you could have had or should have had, that's the whole deal right there.
Soul on fire. PG. Colonel Gein suggested.
Now playing. For tickets, go to soul on firemovie.com. Home side. It took Trump to weeks. to clean up the crime in Memphis.
The residents are saying they never felt this safe. They're showing you the kids are They are outside playing, and they are saying that they never, they haven't heard gunshots. They've never been able to feel this safe. And some residents are saying in five years. And you let, and you expect the Democratic Party, Brandon Johnson, and J.D.
Prisker, expect us to believe crime is down. I keep telling you all. It's nothing you can tell us. When crime is down, the residents will know crime is down. We affiliate, we can tell it, we know that we are safe.
We can go outside and say, hey, crime is down because we know what's going on in our community. How dare Brandon Johnson and J.V. Prisker try to convince us in Chicago that crime is down when Brandon Johnson have 150 police detail following him and his family around everywhere they go? Yes. Look, that it's a great point.
And my only hope here is that all of these folks in places like Whitehaven and Raleigh, Egypt, all of these folks, by the way, Orange Mound, All of these folks need to really take a long, hard look at who they are electing on Election Day. And they need to start taking a very close look at what these Democrats have done and are doing right now to the city of Memphis and to Shelby County. And then they should vote accordingly when the elections roll around. Welcome back, everybody. This is Stearns Country.
I'm Todd Stearns here in the Principal Toyota Memphis studio. And it is exciting. I mean, Governor Bill Lee says that these federal assets could be here indefinitely. And I got no problem with that. If this is what the new normal is, I like it.
And now you've got the T V st this it cracks me up because the folks the the folks they're hiring these little reporters and reporterts over at the local T V stations, they are all far leftist. You know, they're being churned out of these indoctrination camps called journalism schools, and they are just little radicals. And there was a channel three. I nearly came up out of my seat yesterday. I'm reading this channel three story, and they're saying channel three is yet to independently verify.
Whether anyone has actually been arrested.
Well, you know what? We don't care. Why don't you go out there and independently verify all the crime that's out there? And this is what gets me. The reason why the w the reason why the mayor is upset is because people are talking about crime because these Yahoo's over at the T V station are at every single crime scene.
And yet they're making money off of the crime, and then the TV stations are turning around and saying, oh, there's no crime here. Yeah, the mayor's right, the county mayor's right, there's no crime here. These people are morons, ladies and gentlemen, just absolute morons. But anyway, we're going to keep you updated on the developments. Again, more than 800 people arrested, and many of those folks are going to be charged federally, which means they're not coming back to the 901 for a very, very long time.
And by the way, if it really is that safe out there, if it really is, why does Mayor Paul Young live in a gated community? Anybody anybody want to take that one? I mean, if it's really that safe out there. I'm just saying, a lot of people, they don't have the ability to pay the money to live inside a gated community. But when you go to black Twitter and black Facebook and black TikTok, I'm telling you, the average Memphian, they're loving what's happening because for the first time they're able to go outside and mow their grass without somebody pulling up and stealing their lawnmower, literally, literally mojacking.
They're mojacking the lawnmowers in Memphis. Not anymore. People are able to go out and mow the grass now. They're able to go walk to the store. One guy was, they were talking to one guy.
He said, First time in forever, I've been able to walk down to the corner store and get a bag of ice. I love that. No, it's ice cubes, not the actual ice agents. Can't say, no, no, no, that's ice ice. You pour a cold beverage.
This is what I'm No, I understand. It's look, you're back from vacation. It's, yeah, you got a brain got to click into your. I get that.
So people are just. It's it's almost like Peacetime after World War II. Right? Years and years of fighting and violence, and now peace is upon us. And it's taking some of us a little time to adjust.
You say, Well, Todd, what about the seven people that got shot day before yesterday? Yeah, well, that's true, but a lot of that was domestic where people knew the people they were shooting. What's not happening is people are not carjacking, people are not robbing and stealing at the levels they were. And a lot of that has to do with the fact that That the National Guard and the federal assets are here, and they know there's going to be a price to pay. One of the reasons why we're starting to see long lines outside the clerk's office.
Aside from the fact that Wanda Halbert is incompetent. But one of the reasons why is people now understand, oh, There is a consequence to breaking the law. And if I don't have a car tag, if I don't have a driver's license, if I don't have insurance, then I'm going to get in trouble. I'm going to get pulled over. And that's not called profiling.
That's called enforcing the law of the land. And I will say this: and if you know of anybody who has been deported illegally, if you know of anybody who has been arrested for a crime they did not commit, give us a call. We'll take up the case. But so far, I wow, I haven't. I haven't heard one word about that.
All right, got us cooted out of here, folks. Again, make plans to join us Friday, 7 o'clock at the Pharmacy Coffee House in Bartlett. And also, make plans to join me at 11 o'clock for the Todd Stern Show right here on the Mighty 990. This is Stern's Country and the principal Toyota Memphis studio. Have a great day, everybody.
Yeah.
