From the Mighty 990 Broadcast Center, you're waking up in Starnes Country with Todd Starnes. All right, happy government shutdown day, everybody. This is Todd Starnes. Welcome to Starnes Country. We are an essential service.
So we are open and we are ready for business. Hope you guys are doing great today. As you just heard, Laura Huckabee says, it's going to be hot. We are, this is what our second or third fake fall we've been through. It is going to be a hot one today.
Nothing wrong with that. By the way, 69 degrees right now at Evangelical Christian School. Hope all you guys are having a great day. I've got to share this for all of our great listeners. Tomorrow, very excited.
There is a brand new Turning Point USA chapter starting at Connerville High School, but they're not allowed to meet on the campus just yet.
So they're having a big gathering tomorrow morning, 6.30 a.m. at Booyah's, which I understand is great. Parker May, our sports editor, loves Booyahs.
So anyway, yours truly is going to be the speaker.
So I'll try to drop a little knowledge to the young people there. 6.30 in the morning. We're going to have a lot of fun. And if you're in the area, drop by Booyahs at, I love saying that, Cassie, at 6.30. Tomorrow morning, our good buddy John Covington is going to be filling in here on the morning show as I will be in Collierville tomorrow.
So a lot of fun happening there.
So look, yesterday, this was sort of interesting. It turns out that one of our very own was up on Capitol Hill and dropping some knowledge as well to the senators. And it turned out that Senator Brent Taylor making the big journey to our nation's capital. Let's take a listen, the back and forth between Senator Taylor and Senator Marsha Blackburn. Senator Taylor, I do want to come to you.
We had phase one in in Memphis this summer with the FBI and Operation Viper that was very successful, five hundred plus arrests, over one hundred federal indictments, and you have mentioned the Soros funded DA. that has been a stumbling block, as well as the juvenile court system that has been a stumbling block. To addressing the crime situation.
Now, Phase II is in place, and this is the combination of the federal agencies, a dozen agencies plus state resources with Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the National Guard. I want you to talk for a moment. about the impact that federal resourcing has had and how it helps Memphis. They are five hundred police officers short.
So let's talk about The impact that is there. And also, I want to touch on cashless bail and bail laws with you. Thank you. The impact that Operation Viper has had. has had already has been huge.
As you mentioned, 500 arrests. over 100 federal indictments. My concern is that not all of those arrests will end with federal prosecutions. Many of those arrests will be deferred to the state. for prosecution, which would be our local district attorney.
And my concern is, as I said in my opening statement, he is the weak link in all of this because. The cases that get referred to state court, as soon as the federal agencies leave and the National Guard leaves, and the THP officers leave, he will drag around and dismiss the cases. Uh just like he has done Um in other cases, there are um There are other cases that he has. That he is dismissed. One is a federal judge who had an intern.
Who someone attempted to take his life in that case has been dismissed. And there was an interstate shooting. Of a constituent of mine who called me and the case drug on, and it was ultimately dismissed.
So his MO is to drag this out so that everybody leaves, the spotlights off, and then he goes about dismissing and degrading or downgrading the cases. And that will be the weak link in all of this effort. All right, that was Senator Brent Taylor yesterday appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee up on Capitol Hill. The hearing titled Blue City Chaos and Tragedy: How the Trump Administration is Addressing the Human Cost of Soft on Crime Policies.
Well, I want to go right away to the Patriot Mobile newsmaker line, and we are honored to have Senator Taylor joining us live this morning from our nation's capital. Senator, first congratulations, and that must have been quite the scene there, you testifying up on Capitol Hill. Thank you, Todd. right. As you said, I am coming to you live from Washington, D.C.
And yesterday was a big day, and I stepped forward in making Memphis matter by making Memphis safe. I was on Capitol Hill. testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee talking about our our Awake.
Sorrows back this attorney while at the same time, our Attorney General, Pam Bondi, Was calling out D.A. Mulroy by name on a national news channel, and she is coming to Memphis today to talk about that very thing. Right. And we'll get to that in just a minute. But I want to stick to your testimony yesterday and the message that you brought before those senators.
What did you want to make sure after your testimony that those lawmakers understood? I came to them with exactly what our issue is. We had 111,000 crimes reported last year, 19,000 arrests, and of those arrests, 50,000. Yeah. We've got a DA who requires a lot of the.
He is more interested in springing people from jail than putting them in jail. And so the message I brought to them was y'all the The federal government is spending a tremendous amount of resources in Memphis to bring our climb down. Yeah. Do something about the weak link in D.A. Moroy, all of this will be for naught.
And I had specific recommendations for the federal government. First, to swiftly confirm Mike Dunovan as U.S. Attorney from Western Tennessee. Uh he is a proven terrorist. Yeah.
Leadership. That will give the consequences that are needed to these criminals to continue to break the law. all the second thing I recommended was that The DOJ look at consent decrees. The comment. And in federal court.
sue our DA, sue our justice system. Force them into consent decrees that will. Make them enforce tough on crime policies. That is what is needed because the rights of everyday Memphians Are being violated because we can't enjoy our homes, we can't move about the city that we love, we can't shop in our stores, we can't eat in our restaurants.
Someone needs to come and protect our rights. You know, Senator, I think it's interesting. We have seen over the past two days, no doubt, there has been a massive influx, and the National Guard is not even here yet.
So we're expecting them within the next couple of weeks.
So this is a pretty fascinating thing to see this influx of law enforcement and just having the personnel, having the resources. The thing that concerns me, though, Senator, you've got government leaders and government agencies, including the county government, putting out these papers and this information on how to avoid these law enforcement, whether they be roadblocks or whatever. And I'm wondering at what point do we step in and hold those people accountable?
Well You're right. Tammy Sawyer, you know our favorite general sessions court clerk, She's actually got a document that basically tells people. Don't break the law like you've been breaking it. And if you have quite court judgments if you don't have your license or you're tag has expired. If you have unpaid parking tickets, get those caught up.
She should be saying that. Anyway.
So it it is absolutely insane what Lee Harris and and Tammy Sawyer and the merry band of misfits. are trying to do in trying to thwart this effort. and it's their constituents. Todd, it's their constituents that suffer the most from crime. And so, look, we're going to press forward.
We're going to make Memphis matter by making Memphis safe. And we don't give a damn. How many people stand in the way? That is what we're going to do. And we're going to make Memphis the model for the nation of how When these resources are applied to the city and how Congress and the President can turn around these great American cities.
State Senator Brent Taylor joining us from Washington this morning on our Patriot mobile newsmaker line. I want to play some audio here. The Attorney General was talking to the White House yesterday afternoon, and you're right, Pam Pondi and the War Secretary Pete Hegseth coming to town to rally the troops and meet with them. I want to listen. I want to play some audio here from an interview Pam did with our friends over at Fox News.
Cut number three, please. In Memphis right now, last night was the first night of our operation, making Memphis safe again, Maria. It's exactly what we did in D.C. We're using the same blueprint. Secretary Hegseth and I are going to be out there this week with our people in Memphis.
Maria, last night we arrested, I think this is breaking news. We arrested nine people, two guns off the street in our first night of the surge. Here's what's different in Memphis: we have a mayor who's cooperating with us. Mayor Young is cooperating. We've got our two senators, Senator Hagerty and Senator Blackburn, who are helping us.
We have Governor Lee who's working hand in hand with us. We've already had Cash Patel and the FBI in there already, making multiple arrests and lowering the surge.
Now we have our U.S. Marshals, our DEA, our FBI, and we have additional officers, and we have them working hand in hand with the National Guard. Last night we deputized 219 members of the National Guard to be special U.S. Marshals, and we're going to keep fighting. Here's why in 2024, Memphis had the highest violent crime rate in the entire country.
That's outrageous. And so many businesses are pouring into Memphis.
So many great AI companies, tech companies, And we want to make Memphis safe for them. The mayor wants to make it safe, and we're going to work hand in hand with them. In 2025, they've already had 149 homicides, and it's going to stop, and it's going to stop now, thanks to Donald Trump. The most shocking thing I heard in all of that, Senator, is that Mayor Young is cooperating. Were you surprised to hear those words?
Um I heard that. From I've been in meetings about past two days with Senator Blackburn. Senator Haggerty, I had meetings yesterday at the Department of Justice. And what I heard was Yeah. federal government is committed to making sure that Memphis is turned around.
And they they did come. Comment on the fact that that Mayor Young, although he does not want the National Guard here. He recognizes that that decision. decision was made upstream from the mayor's office. and that if resources are coming into Memphis, Mayor Young has said he wants to work with those resources to make Memphis matter And that's what he's doing.
And that's what's going to make this. Operation even more successful than it could be is because we do have. Mayor Young, who appears between our two mayors. He is the mayor that looks like the adult in the room. Um Mayor Harris, on the other hand, looks ridiculous.
He is doing everything he can to stand in the way, and he will be steamrolled by this effort to make Memphis matter by making Memphis safe. All right.
Well, Senator, we're going to leave it there. Again, congratulations. We thank you for the great work you're doing in bringing this to not only the attention of everyone here in the Mid-South, but the entire nation. You did a great job. And, real quick, I understand that you ran into your, I would say, literary doppelganger there, Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana.
Did you guys swap sayings by any chance? We eh? Actually, we did. I ran into him in the hall. He was a committee member.
Uh of the committee I testified. Uh, yeah. I ran into him in the hallway. We spoke and we exchanged one-liner.
So you may be hearing some one-liners that I picked up from my friend Senator John Kennedy. Slinging southerisms. You got to love it. Senator, congratulations. Safe travels back to the Bluff City.
Thank you, Todd. Appreciate you. All right, folks, we are all blessed to have State Senator Brent Taylor. I have never been prouder of any vote in my life. Thank God for him because he is leading the charge, and we certainly appreciate the great work that the senator is doing.
We're going to take a quick break. We're going to the phone lines. Your reaction to what we've already seen: cops pulling people over, going into the crime zones. Targeting gangbangers. Want to hear your reaction.
901-260-5926. That's 901-260-5926. Got to check in with Commander Chuck. He's standing by with a look at traffic. Still managing your rental business like a side hustle?
Stop risking your cash flow. Over 800,000 landlords use TurboTenant to streamline their rental operations for free. From finding tenants you trust to collecting rent on time. We've got you covered at turbotenet.com. May I just say that?
There's really nothing else going on in the Mid-South this weekend, except in Bartlett. It's all things Bartlett talking about the barbecue. You've got the barbecue competition. You have the Bartlett Festival. I'll be out there visiting at the Shelby County Republican Party's tent.
We're going to have a great time out there and would love for you to drop by and say hello and go check out all of the incredible stuff. It is a great family-friendly event. It is one of the largest festivals in the Mid-South. And let me tell you something about Bartlett. They know how to put on a festival.
Also, they've got the car show going on. All starts Friday from 5:30 to 9:30. Live music starts at 6 o'clock, goes all the way to Saturday night. And if you're feeling up to it, they've even got a 5K run.
So there you go. All right, 901-260-5926. Let's go to the phones. OG Bill in Cordova. OG, it's been a while.
What do you think about the big influx of Bartlett? Blue lights in the Bluff City. I think it's wonderful, Todd. It's long, long, long overdue. I think President Trump and I think our senators in Tennessee for working with this and I thank Paul Young for working.
With it. I honestly did not expect that. But one point I wanted to make is. All this is wonderful and good that they're doing it. But when they leave, We don't have enough.
On the street, we're going to be right back. Where we are now is very short. short order. coupled with putting more officers on the streets. I think we're something like $800 to $900.
Are short right now.
Well, we are. And that you're absolutely right. We've got to get that remedied. And I know our good friend John Covington, who hosts our weekend show Behind the Badge, has been leading that effort and has been a leading voice in that effort to get more police officers here.
So let's see how this plays out, Bill. I think one of the positive things: you get arrested. You're not going to the local jail. You're going to Leavenworth.
So you're going into federal custody. The Trump administration's playing some serious hardball with the thugs in Memphis right now. And it's time. Yeah. Long past.
time for that. No. It shouldn't be necessary, to be honest with you. They should be doing this. This should be rule of law.
But we've got Steve Mulroy. He was the turnkey. prosecutor, uh Rote Revolving Door justice system here in Shelby County, and they know that. That's why they That's why we have this crime process. No doubt about that.
Bill, thanks for the call, and thank you for listening to the Mighty 990. By the way, there's a great meme on our Stop Memphis crime group, and it's got President Trump and remember Urkel. From back, was it Family? Was it Family Matters? I can't remember.
It's the 90s show. Anyway, the meme says, Chill out, Mayor Urkel. I'm about to make Memphis safe again. Very clever. I'm going to tell you, someone from that downtown group, the one that says, Oh, there's no crime.
There's no crime in downtown. It's just the safest little place. And we're going to do all sorts of wonderful things. We're going to rebuild Mud Island and we just have millions and millions of people coming downtown. Oh, it's so beautiful.
Yeah, they actually reported that as a hate crime. No, I'm serious. Our chill chill out Mayor Urkolt meme. Good geezeloo. Anyway, look, speaking of downtown.
Not good news for the hotel industry. The city council went into the hotel business. They are now innkeepers of that massive, ugly hotel downtown across from the convention center, the old Sheridan. And they're planning on making hoteling great again.
However, it turns out, and we shared this with you exclusively on KWAM a couple of weeks ago, that the hotel industry was facing a downturn in Memphis. And now we got word that the Doubletree in downtown is shutting down at the end of November. You're going to be putting 88 people out of work. And by the way, that hotel was supposed to be completely renovated. It's directly across, it's on Union, but it's across the street from the Peabody.
So, this is not good, ladies and gentlemen. But again, this goes back to the fact. That Memphis is a dangerous place, and everybody knows it, which is why President Trump is here and he is cleaning up the streets of Memphis. The President is doing what the mayor, what the county mayor, and what the governor of Tennessee refused to do. Which is Get rid of the criminal thugs.
So I say thank you, Mr. President. Quite frankly, we ought to be you know, they wanted to rename Poplar Avenue. Remember that Black Lives Matter? They need to be renaming it Donald Trump Avenue.
We ought to be leading that charge here on the 9990. We need to be naming a major street after Donald J. Trump. All right, 901-260-5926 is our telephone number. That's 901-260-5926.
Coming up, we're going to be introducing you. To some brand new partners here on KWAM. And we love folks that are standing up and supporting and partnering with Conservative Talk Radio and Freedom Radio, really, because that's what it's really all about: Freedom Radio. We're going to be talking to our friends at Strategic Financial Partners. They're going to be in the studio, and they'll be taking your questions about your money every Wednesday starting today.
So, hang tight, everybody. Got to take a quick break. Strategic financial partners coming up right here on the Mighty 990. This is Starnes Country. Tired of giving away all your rental profits to a property manager?
You don't have to. Over 800,000 landlords use TurboTenant to find and manage tenants. Keep your 10% and sign up for free at Turbotenant.com. Oh my lord. You guys are having way too much fun out there on the Mighty 990 Facebook page this morning.
Our live stream, Gene Landeros says, Todd, I can hear it. In 500 feet, turn right at Donald Trump Boulevard. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I love this. Very clever, Gene.
All right.
What street should we rename here in Memphis in the Mid South in honor of Donald Trump? Poplar is a great street, but I'm open. I'm open to anything. 901-260-5926. Give us a call.
That's 901-260-5926. All right.
We are very excited to welcome some very important folks, very special folks that are going to help you out. And what we do here on the Mighty 990 is we want to make sure that your money is protected. And one of the ways we're doing that is with a new partnership that starts today with our friends at Strategic Financial Partners. Adam Martin is a financial advisor, and they're based right here in Memphis. Adam, good to have you with us this morning.
It's great to be here, Todd. And welcome. And we've already got you a cup of coffee. Absolutely. You got to start the day right.
You got to do that.
So at least hospitality-wise, we're kicking things off on the right foot. Yes, sir. Fantastic.
Well, we're excited to have you guys with us. And I know at Strategic Financial Partners, you guys are all about helping Mid-Southerners, especially when it comes to things like wealth management and retirement accounts. That's absolutely right. We are well positioned to handle any and all financial situations, regardless of what stage of life you're in. And what I love about you guys, y'all are here, right?
Your team, they're here. They've gone to school here. They go to church here.
So you guys are invested here in Memphis. Absolutely. And not only are we in Memphis, we're scattered out across the Mid-South.
So we have offices in Little Rock, Arkansas. We have them in Franklin, Tennessee. And, you know, we try to service the Mid-South community as a whole.
So, the website, by the way, strategicfinancialpartners.com, and there's all sorts of great information there. And one of the things I love about your website is it's very user-friendly. And what are people going to see if they go to your website? What are they going to find?
So, you'll see how we approach our meetings with clients, you'll see our core values. And then you'll see a list of our associates.
So we have over 100 advisors scattered out between Memphis and the other offices that I mentioned. But it's a one-stop shop, really, for you to be able to find the right advisor that fits your particular needs, whether that's private wealth management, if that's just a young accumulator for those young listeners that want to get started with saving for retirement, saving for education for kids. They can find all the information they need from our website. It's not a gotcha question, but I'm curious what you tell folks because a lot of folks say, well, why do I need a financial partner? Why do I need somebody to step in and help me with my finances?
What do you tell somebody that says something like that?
Well, we try to keep it simple. Obviously, there's a lot of terms in our industry that could get really high level, and we don't want to talk over somebody's head.
So what we really want to do is just ask good questions and figure out where you're at in the stage of life. And then that way we can kind of curtail Our recommendations or give them the best advice for a path forward. I know we have a lot of folks that are listening. They're getting ready for retirement. I want to get to those folks in just a minute because we also have a lot of young people, many kids in high school, TPUSA kids listening to us.
You've got Gen Zers that are just starting in their careers. At what point do you say, okay, you need to start planning for retirement? Is there a specific age that's sort of like the sweet spot? You know, I'd say when you're in high school and in college, obviously the mission first is let's complete our education. But be mindful that as you get out of college, you're starting the workforce, and that's a great time to really start to focus in on your long-term goals and short-term goals.
So maybe the next stage of life is we're going to buy a house or start a family.
So we don't want to. Put money in retirement accounts necessarily right off the bat because we've got other areas to work on, like building up a cash reserves, emergency fund, addressing those education needs, and then we can focus in on the long-term financial planning. But time value of money is very important, that's for sure. Trevor Burrus, Jr.: Well, and again, building that wealth that you can then use to buy a house or to buy a car or making those big life purchases. You guys handle things like advising people on brokerage.
You do brokerage services, stocks and bonds, and mutual funds as well. Is that right? That is correct. I love it. I remember when I was super young, they would tell you, if you're young, you can be a little risky with your money, you know, so you can put your money in maybe an investment that's going to, you know, that's going to work out.
Maybe it's not going to work out. But you're young, so you've got time to recoup if need be. Absolutely. And I'll tell you what I love about our firm is that we've got people in position for all stages of life. And if we need to start with the basics of what is a stock, what is a bond, we're willing to sit down and have that conversation.
But we also talk to you about why we would go a certain route. Like traditional IRA versus a Roth IRA and why it's important to have those different buckets of money set aside. I love this. And again, it's sort of all-encompassing what you guys do. As far as retirement accounts, when should people start paying attention to putting money away and really starting to come up with a plan?
And that's what you guys do. You help folks come up with the plan. That is absolutely correct. And so, you know, going back to the younger listener that gets out of college and they start their job, we're going to have the first conversation around what are the benefits provided to you. And generally, that's a 401k, 403B.
But we'll talk to them about the importance of at least contributing to what the employer matches.
So we're not leaving any money on the table. But compound interest is still the greatest invention to this day.
So that's why we want them to start early. Adam Martin is a financial advisor at Strategic Financial Partners, the website, folks, strategicfinancialpartners.com, right here in Memphis every Wednesday. They're going to be helping us not only manage our but get ready for retirement as well. When you look at retirement, a lot of people want to put their, and many companies have it set up where their retirement is their 401k. That is, look, it's always good to have that money there, but you cannot rely, and it's not a good thing, and I don't think it's healthy to have all of your retirement based in a 401k.
That's correct. We do have the conversation around tax-deferred dollars versus after-tax dollars.
So that's a typical conversation that we'll have is that typically all of your money in a 401k. There are some Roth components, but typically it's all tax-deferred dollars.
So we start to have the conversation of. You're in your accumulation years, but then we need to be thinking about the distribution years. How do we get these money out of this 401k in the most tax-efficient way?
Okay, so people are listening and they're like, you know, I guess I better start getting ready for that. At least start thinking about it.
So they reach out to you guys. What is it that they need to do? What is it they need to say when someone answers the phone? Do they just holler, help? I heard you guys on KWAM.
I need help. I heard you on K-Wham.
Somebody help me. You know, I would totally respond to that kind of response.
Okay. And the best thing to do is, you know, send us an email, give me a call. We can do Zoom meetings. We can do in-office meetings. We can meet at a local coffee shop just to have a conversation.
We need to know where you're starting from to know where you want to go. I love it. JoJo's. I recommend JoJo's in Sherman Town.
Sounds good. Great coffee house. All right.
Adam Martin, we're going to see you here every Wednesday, and you're going to bring along folks.
So we're going to, so it's going to be a fun conversation. And by the way, if you have a question, you can always put those financial questions in the live. Stream. We'll take a look at those and we'll pass those on to the guys and we'll get them to answer those questions as well.
So again, the website is strategicfinancialpartners.com. Adam, what's that telephone number that people can call? That number is 901-260-2438. All right.
Again, 901-260-2438. Strategic Financial Partners.com is the website. Adam, welcome to K-Wham in Stern's Country. I'm glad to be here. Thank you, Todd.
All right, folks, we've got to take a quick break. When we come back, we're going to have folks weighing in. We just heard from a guy who just showed up at a police checkpoint.
So we're going to get the lowdown on what happened there. 901-260-5926. This is Stern's Country. Adam Martin is a registered representative of and offers securities and investment advisory services through ML Investors Services, LLC, member SIPC, Supervisory Office, 949, South Shady Grove Road, Suite 300, Mifflins, Tennessee, 3120-901-767-5951. Tired of giving away all your rental profits to a property manager?
You don't have to. Over 800,000 landlords use TurboTenant to find and manage tenants. Keep your 10% and sign up for free at Turbotenant.com. Yeah, all right. Welcome back, everybody.
And you're gonna love these guys. Adam Martin, Chris Loftus with Strategic Financial Partners. As a matter of fact, one of their clients just Posted in our live blog there over on Facebook. She loves these. She loves the company.
They're doing great, great work.
So go sure, go, be sure to go check out Strategic FinancialPartners.com. All right, I want to go to the phone lines real quick. Mark from Memphis has been holding on. And, Mark, I understand you ran into a police checkpoint on the way to work this morning. Yeah, imagine that, the jackbooted fascists being here, they're forcing the Memphis police to actually take some uh crime preventing measures today.
Wow, so so tell us I don't want you to give us a location because, you know, again, the whole point of this is to capture the bad guys and keep them off guard.
So take us through the process. What happened at the checkpoint?
Well this one Was actually in the downtown, and I was surprised, of course, but they had a gate blocking off one lane, and there was one, I believe there was one MPD officer there, and you had to, you know, they were stopping and kind of peeking in and talking to people and then letting them go through. But I was. I'm glad, quite frankly. And you know, Todd, I uh I travel on 240 and I-55 every day. And I've also noticed A lot of Tennessee highway patrol.
People are doing the speed limit. 55, 65, no more idiots weaving in and out. Last Friday when I was driving home, Todd, there were three in a row. That have people pulled over.
So I'm telling you, enforcement works, and I'm glad to see this checkpoint, but this one was in downtown, Todd. I love to hear that, Mark. And were there a lot of people stuck in traffic? How long did it take to get through the checkpoint? No, it wasn't too bad, but there were at least six or seven cars.
I again, I thought it was odd. I I pulled off just before because that's the way I go to get onto the interest rate, but they were there today and they had it blocked, and I thought good for them. I love this. You know, it's funny. They're doing all these stories on local television.
What to do if you get stopped by the police? Here's a thought. Do what they tell you to do. They're law enforcement. There's a lot of people.
I hope they crack down on these expired and fake tags. I hope they catch a lot of those. And I want this crackdown. I am all for it. I'm glad to see it.
So thank you, Governor Lee, President Trump, and well, I guess Governor Lee was reluctant, but thank you, President Trump, and MPD for finally. uh you know doing some crime preventing measures.
Well said.
Well, Mark, I appreciate the call and the intel. And again, folks, if you find yourself at one of these checkpoints, all you have to do is have all your intel there, your driver's license, your insurance, and make sure that you don't have an expired tag. You're going to be fine. You'll be able to go along your way. But there is so much violence here.
This is a very small inconvenience, a very small price that we have to pay to make sure that we root out all of the thugs. Speaking of that, I've got to weigh. Normally, we do not weigh in on the haters, and we have liberal trolls over on our page. This person that goes by the name Brant Owens, I don't know if that's a real name or not. And he's taking a shot at Pete and Hegseph.
Says no soldier wants to hear a pep rally speech from two unqualified hacks.
So he's talking about our War Secretary, Pete and Hegseph, and President Trump. Who were addressing all of the generals and basically giving the generals addressing down yesterday? And the gist of it is this. No more fat generals, no. And no more woke troops, right?
So we're no longer going to be sending drag queens into battle. You will be dressed appropriately, you will not have a beard. And women will now be required to complete the same physical regimen that the men have to. Everybody is equal. And by the way, isn't that what the women wanted all along?
The radical feminist?
So, I'm not sure why they've got a problem with all of this. Anyway, this Bran Owens guy writing on the Facebook page about Heg Seth being an unqualified hack. And here's the reality: that unqualified hack actually has an undergraduate degree from Princeton University. He has a graduate degree, a master's from Harvard. And that man is a highly decorated, two bronze stars, a highly decorated military veteran.
The facts matter here. And it really bothers me when people go out there: well, he's just nothing more than a TV host, he has no qualifications. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Pete Hegseth was a career military guy.
And a great American patriot.
So I'm feeling very comfortable. As a matter of fact, Kristen writing in and says we need to be naming a street after Pete Hakeseth as well. I got no problem with that. And by the way, if Pam Bondi is able to come in here and clean up our city, how about this? Pambondi Boulevard.
There you go. Here, by the way, speaking of Pam Bondi, she was hanging with our friend Maria Bartaromo yesterday. Cut number two, please. An 18-year-old murdered a Memphis police officer, and he had been let out. without any bail.
Just prior to that murder because you have a Wokesaurus DA there. They're letting people out. They're not holding them accountable.
So we're coming in with all of our federal agents and we are going to charge them federally whenever possible. We're going to keep them in federal custody. No officers, no offers. And if you touch a federal officer, you will be prosecuted. You touch a federal officer and we're going to hold you in jail, in a federal jail, and we are going to prosecute you.
That's what's going to stop crime. And working hand in hand with the local Memphis Police Department, they've been great. We're going to come in and share intelligence and get these violent criminals off the street. It's got to stop. I mean, these are our cities.
Memphis is a beautiful historical city, and people are getting killed every day. 125 murders so far. Last night we got two guns off the street and that's just the beginning.
So Secretary Hegsteth and I are going in there together this week. We're going to meet. I did it the whole time. We were in DC. We're meeting with all of our troops, meeting all of our federal agents, all of the state police on the ground to show them that we support them.
We're meeting with the mayor, all the locals, so we can work hand in hand to make Memphis safe again. And it's a shame that Portland, that Chicago, that these cities aren't begging Donald Trump to come in there and help them. All right.
Well said.
By the way, the New York Times. These people kill me. We've got a lot of far-left journalists. Walking around the streets of Memphis, and I'm not talking about the ones that already live here. I'm talking about ones from New York and places beyond, mostly north of the Mason-Tixon line.
This is the headline. This is the headline from the New York Times. And they think they've figured out the problem in Memphis. A hard moment. Memphis braces for an influx of federal force.
Drained by years of crime and conservative criticism, Memphis is set to receive a wave of federal agents that residents are divided over.
So, first of all, that sounds like a headline that could have been written by the staff over the Daily Memphian because they're buying into the argument that the problem is not that people are getting shot and carjacked, it's that K-Wham is alerting people to the fact that people are getting shot and carjacked. If only you would turn a blind eye and just step over the pools of blood on the sidewalks, Memphis would be a much better place, K-Wam. That's what they're telling us. But the residents are not divided. I mean, when you see the polling, and I know Channel 3 did at least two polls that I know of, and I think there are a couple of others, and people are overwhelmingly.
Excited to see the troops here. But they interviewed a woman named Mirian Cordero. She's a longtime Memphis resident. I don't know her, I'm sure she's a very lovely lady. Miriam owns a downtown flower shop.
And she said that this is terrible. I'll read this to you. Emily Cochran is the writer, reporting from Memphis. Miriam Cordero, a longtime Memphis resident who owns a downtown flower shop, sounded torn last week about the arrival of the Federal forces in the city. If they come to help with the crime, I think we can be okay with that.
But if they're going to scare people, it's so vague, the information we have.
Well, yes, Miss Cordero, the reason why it's vague is the police don't want to outline for the thugs that they're in the neighborhood. Right? It's like surprise. We're here. These people.
But again, this is the same. I guarantee you, she's a Democrat because these are the same people that were supportive of laying out. What we were going to do in wars so that the enemy would have advance notice.
So, the whole point of this, the reason why they're vague is they don't want to tip off the bad guys. And again, I'm just wondering: who's going to be scared by the National Guard? The only people. to be s that that should be scared are the criminal thugs. That's it.
You're a law-abiding citizen. You got nothing to be afraid of. But I can tell you this If you are a citizen of Memphis, who are you more scared of? Are you more scared of the ten year old holding an AR 15? Or are you more scared of the National Guard?
Who may or may not be armed, by the way. Unbelievable. 901-260-5926 is our telephone number. That's 901-260-5926. I find it incredibly rich, by the way.
That Governor Bill Lee has now embraced his position as the savior of Memphis. And I will just remind people of this. That until we brought this to President Trump's attention, he was unaware of how bad things were in Memphis. But once he found out, I can promise you this: the first call that they made after that interview. Was to the governor's office.
So I'm glad the governor's on board. And if he wants to take credit, we'll let him take credit. But just remember: the governor could have fixed all of this years ago. And he did not do that. Just want to point that out.
All right, I got to leave it there, folks. 11 o'clock, the Todd Stern Show. We have a Jam-Pack program. Be sure to tune in. Check out kwamradio.com for all your local headlines.
Be good, Memphis. The question start early. And then they start multiplying. Do babies hold grudges? How do I know when he's full?
Logging poops come unnecessary? Raising kids raises enough questions. That's why we make one formula that feels right right away. One that's intentionally made and clinically proven, with immune supporting benefits in every scoop. One that uses breast milk as its North Star.
