From the Mighty 990 Broadcast Center, you're waking up in Starnes Country with Todd Starnes.
And good morning, everybody. It is Friday here in Sterns Country in the principal Toyota Memphis studio, and hope you are ready for the weekend. I think. I think all of us are ready for the weekend. It has, wow, we're not going to pull any punches here.
It has been a really rough weekend. Week not only for America, but right here in the Mid-South, and it's been tough. And I think a lot of folks are looking forward to just getting away from work, spending time with your family, hugging your kids, and just maybe even getting to church on Sunday.
So, we're going to get through this next hour together. We have a lot of new stories to share with you. And I want to start with what happened last night. And it was really an incredible moment. And if any of you listening were there last night at the Charlie Kirk Vigil at the Germantown Municipal Park.
That was really an unbelievable moment. And I think it was really a time for healing for a lot of people. Oh, they're saying about 600 people were there last night in the park. That is remarkable. We announced it yesterday on KWAM on the morning show, sharing it on our socials that the Memphis Young Republicans were putting this together in less than 24 hours.
The word spread and 600 people showed up. It was just. Remarkable to see the folks just kept coming to the park. It was truly remarkable. And one of the folks, and by the way, our telephone number: 901-260-5926.
That's 901-260-5926. Uh one of the the things that that really impressed me The number of young people that turned out, teenagers and college students that were there. I was speaking to a group of medical students, and they left their classes and they rushed over so that they could be there to be a part of this gathering. And it was really an amazing moment. And I just can't say enough great things about the Memphis Young Republicans and the work they're doing.
There is something going on here, especially among young people here in the Mid-South. They're not satisfied with the status quo. They're not content with the way things are now. They've been hearing the stories about how vibrant Memphis used to be, how safe Memphis used to be, how free Memphis used to be. And they want that for our city.
And I think it's important for all of us to stand alongside these young Republicans and these young conservatives. And get behind them and let's see what we can do. When I looked out over that crowd, and I was invited to say a few words, and I was honored to do that. But honestly, I think the true messages that made an impact came from those young people, the Turning Point USA chapter at the University of Memphis. To hear the heartfelt stories from these kids and then to really.
It wasn't so much a political rally as it was almost a, it sort of had a religious fervor. uh to to the evening And I think people came away from that. And I think the reporters, and all the reporters were out there. And someone told me that one reporter sort of left in a huffy mood. And I think the reason why is that these local reporters, a lot of them, probably bought into this national narrative that old Charlie Kirk was a right-wing extremist.
Okay, what does that even mean? And so from now on, we had a guy call in yesterday on the national show from Memphis, and the guy was just like, you're a liar and you're a right-wing extremist, and Charlie was a right-wing. And I stopped there. I'm like, what do you mean by that? Charlie was a hater.
All right, give me an example of that. And look, on my national radio show. The um on the national radio show We um We take all the naysayers, the people that disagree with us, and they go right to the top of the lineup. And I want to talk to those people. I want to have that conversation and that debate.
But ultimately, They don't want that debate. They don't. And sure enough, yesterday the guy calls in, and I'm like, all right, well, hold on. We had a whole lineup of folks that wanted to weigh in, full lines. This guy calls in, I hate Todd Starnes.
Boom, you're going to the top of the list. And so the guy starts screaming, and I'm just saying, give me an example of the argument you were trying to make. And then the guy just starts screaming curse words and slams down the phone. And that's pretty much your typical leftist in America. They don't want a debate and they want to shut down all that debate.
But last night, and the media, they buy into all of this because I don't, either out of ignorance or intentionality, I don't know. But I will say this. That the reporters who did stay, and the reporters who truly did watch what was happening. They saw the story. And they got to see what Turning Point USA is all about.
But more importantly, I'd like to think they got to see what conservatives are all about. That we are a peaceful people.
Now, you guys know that I'm coming after the Daily Memphian on a pretty regular basis because they hire a lot of left-wing reporters and their politics flavor a lot of their news stories. But I gotta give credit where credit is due here. And the Daily Memphian sent out Abigail Warren to cover the story. And I thought she did a fine job. I thought her report was fair, and I thought it was balanced.
The photo of me, eh?
Okay, we could have a conversation about it, but that may be on the subject matter, not the daily Memphian. All that to say, God. God bless all of you folks that came out last night, and it was such a blessing. There was a little fella, I think he was in maybe middle school. I'm bad with ages.
I don't know what you hit your 50s and you can't tell how old people are anymore. I think this kid was like probably in sixth grade or seventh grade, and he came rushing up with his mom and said he wanted to start a Turning Point USA chapter on his campus. I love those kinds of stories.
So, anyway, we're going to open up the phone lines. We need to take a quick break. We're going to check in with Commander Chuck. And the reason I'm a little discombobulated, we've got some major breaking news coming in this morning. We're going to tell you what that news is right after the break.
All right, welcome back to Starnes Country here in the Principal Toyota Memphis studio, and we do have some breaking news to share with you. We can now confirm here at K-WAN that police have arrested a suspect in the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Now, this announcement was made just moments ago, President Trump at Fox News headquarters. He was on Fox and Friends when he made the announcement. Let's go ahead and listen to the President of the United States. Can I always say, I think, just to protect us all, and so Fox doesn't get sued, and we all don't get sued, and everything else, but I think. With a high degree of certainty, we have him.
We're in custody.
Okay. In custody, everyone did a great job. We worked with the local police, the governor, everybody did a great job. You know, getting somebody that you start off with absolutely nothing. We started off with a clip that made him look like an ant.
That was almost useless. We just saw there was somebody up there. And so much work has been done over the last two and a half days. You know, it's amazing, actually, when you start off with that, and then all of a sudden. You uh You get lucky or talent or whatever it is, but So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen.
President Trump announcing just in the past minute or so that a suspect is in custody in connection to the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Hoping for some more information because last night I know many of you, after you got home from the Charlie Kirk vigil, you watched that FBI press conference, the one that had been delayed for hours because of a rapidly developing situation. And we ended up getting very little info out of that press briefing. As a matter of fact, there were no questions allowed. The FBI director, Cash Batel, said not a single word.
He just stood there. And a lot of people, it was just very odd, very unusual.
So we a lot of people after that. Press briefing last night. We're raising the alarm bells, including our good friend over at Newsmax. Michael Savage.
So anyway, we will keep you updated throughout the morning. Any other breaking news details, we will be all over this.
So just be sure to keep listening here to the Mighty 990. And of course, we will have details throughout the day. But I want to go back real quick to what happened yesterday at the vigil that was put together by the Memphis Young Republicans. We understand now they were passing out, they had 700 candles. By the way, shout out to Hope Church.
They're the ones who donated the candles last night. And it was an incredibly moving thing to see all these people outdoors in this beautiful setting. Praying. Singing amazing grace and other hymns of our faith. And it really took on the flavor of a.
Of a worship service. And I just can't say enough great things. Ann Elizabeth Matheny, a Turning Point USA staffer who represents the heartland of the country, was there. She's one of us. She's a hometown girl, came back home.
And I can tell you, not a dry eye in that park as she got up to share an incredibly emotional story. Also, I got to give a shout out here to our state representative, Mark White, who chairs the Education Committee. He delivered remarks, and God bless this man. He's got a lot on his shoulders. But I've got to say this, and I said this in my remarks last night.
The days of teachers Using their classrooms to indoctrinate our kids, those days are over. Over. And I'll give you some examples of that in just a moment. But let me just say this. When it comes to education in the Mid-South, We've got to take back control of MSCS.
We've got to do it. I don't care if your kids are in a private school, you're still taxpayers. And a majority, an overwhelming majority of the citizens in Shelby County send their kids to public schools. public schools.
So we have an obligation As taxpayers, it is And quite frankly, as citizens, to make sure that these kids are actually learning something. By the way, the um and I pointed this out last night. I'm excited about these universities because they understand we're not playing games anymore. We're not playing games. Ole Miss, they have now fired a staffer who was writing incredibly derogatory things about Charlie Kirk on social media.
Same thing happened at ETSU. At least two staffers there have been fired. And now we understand MTSU as well. By the way, there was an MTSU student. An MTSU student who was arrested by the feds for threatening to kill Marsha Blackburn.
Unbelievable. By the way, speaking of that, the senator was joined us yesterday at 11 o'clock on our national show right here on the Mighty 990. She appeared exclusively. And let's take a listen to that conversation. Senator M.
You could you could see on the President's face this was this was a really a gut punch.
So I think the entire nation, and I'm wondering how you were doing. I know you were very close with Charlie Kirk. Yes, indeed. I have spent many hours with Charlie Kirk speaking at Turning Point USA. I early on supported him and would speak at the Turning Point USA conferences.
and conventions and was looking forward to joining them again in December. And Charlie has just been so supportive. He was excited about things that I was working on and Things that we were pushing forward, he would stay in constant. contact and I had just Really spent a lot of time chatting with him recently on a couple of issues. We are just going to miss him desperately, and I just.
have prayed so for his family. And so for um Those that had worked with Yeah. In Turning Point USA, and those that were working with him as he started this new comeback tour, which would be so helpful to the President. I know the President considered Charlie to be much more than a friend. He was a confidant and someone the president knew.
could depend on. Senator, there is a lot of emotion right now, and I think the emotion is raw. There will come a time when we've got to figure out next steps and where do we go from here. But what do you tell the the millions of young people on those college campuses and in high school that were drawn into the conservative movement as a result of Charlie and Turning Point? Yeah, and you know, my grandson, my oldest grandson.
Um Was such a fan of Charlie Kirk. He tried to start a turning point chapter at his school, and the school wouldn't allow it.
So the Younger Republican Club they had it. Cool. is something that they would go through some of the turning point. uh podcast and uh the Charlie's writings and his speeches and things. But I told my son and my grandson yesterday because he was upset.
Um And let me back that up a little bit, Todd. When he tried to start that turning point chapter in the school wouldn't allow it. I texted Charlie to let him know. And Charlie jumped into, you know. Support Jack and thank him for the effort and.
Jack said, you know, he really felt like Charlie was rooting for him. And in that, I think that's the way young people felt. They felt what my grandson did. They felt that Charlie was on their side. And Charlie wanted the best for them, and he wanted to encourage them.
And he helped them to critically think about the issues that are there.
So my grandson is upset about this and I told him, I said, look. You can honor Charlie's memory by continuing to support his movement. For what we want to see a conservative prosperous United States of America. And Charlie believed in hard work and smart work. And he believed in being a leader who had a vision.
And I told my grandson. Honor him by working hard, by working smart. By looking for those opportunities. to be a leader, to dream those big dreams like Charlie did. and then find a way to make those dreams come true.
That is how you honor his life and his legacy. Senator, we're Christians and we cannot adapt the tactics of the left. And I think that Christianity is really at the heart and soul of what it actually means to be a conservative in this country, just my opinion. But I do wonder what we need to do and what we need to say about this. This violence that is out there that's coming from the left.
It is putting a lot of people in harm's way. What kind of a conversation do we need to have about that? And one of the things that would be helpful would be for our colleagues that are on the left to call. for a halt. to this vitriol.
in this conversation. And let's just stop referring to con conservatives. with all of these inappropriate names. You have people, I've been through a process, we're still going through it. with someone that had an active death threat against me.
Uh And they were riled up about things that they heard people. Say about me. And this is happening. You see, it happened with President Trump. You see that it has happened with Charlie Kirk, it happened with Steve Scalise.
It has helped and happened with so many others. that have had threats. We've talked about it that There are more threats against members of Congress now than there have been and past years. All right, there you go, ladies and gentlemen. Part of our conversation with Marsha Blackburn on the Todd Stern show yesterday.
And we have even more breaking news to share with you. President Trump, and we got the call about four or five days ago, and this is the information I was not allowed to share with you until the president made it official himself, and the president just making it official on Fox and friends, the president announcing that he is sending the National Guard to Memphis. To deal with our crime. We're going to be taking your calls, your reaction to the news, President Trump. Sending the National Guard to Memphis thanks to the mighty 990.
901-260-5926. That's 901-260-5926. Your reaction coming up. All right, so this is Foddy. As President Trump was making the announcement on Fox and Friends, my phone was ringing, and it was from the White House saying, We're so sorry we were going to break the news on KWAM, but.
Sometimes when the President is doing the interviews, you never know what the President's going to say. And we do know that the President just moments ago announced what they told us just, I guess, five or six days ago. that they were in fact going to be sending the National Guard to Memphis. It was off the record, and I had to keep that in strict confidence, which we did. And I was laughing.
I was talking to the White House a few moments ago, and I said, you know. Um What's interesting is you guys know that Todd Stearns knows how to keep a secret, and we did. And this is exciting news. We can tell you that there is more to come with this. But again, the National Guard is going to be deployed to Memphis, and we want to get your reaction to that breaking news.
Are you going to be glad to see the National Guard troops patrolling our city? Or do you think this is an overstep?
Now Lee Harris, the county mayor, said says this is un-American and it's not democratic.
Now that's kind of rich coming from Lee Harris, because this is the same man who shut down every single small business, every restaurant, Every business. in Shelby County was shut down. bars, restaurants, you name it, because of Lee Harris during the China virus.
So if you want to talk about Un-American, we can have that conversation, Mayor Harris, and we invite you to come on the Mighty Nine Nighty. We will have a fair and balanced debate over what is and what is not un-American, sir. Anyway, here is President Trump just moments ago. I think maybe I'll be the first to say it right now again. We're going to Memphis.
Memphis is deeply troubled. And the mayor is happy, he's a Democrat mayor the mayor is happy. And the governor, Tennessee. The governor's happy. Deeply troubled.
We're going to fix that just like we did Washington. I would have preferred going to Chicago. I had a man and a big, the head of a big, big railroad. They're doing a merger and he wanted to come see me and all that stuff. And I asked him, because, you know, it's one of the largest train companies, maybe the largest, so you can figure out who it is.
Okay, Union Pacific. And he was in my office, and he started off 45 years ago with the railroad. Such a great story. Sir, I'm a railroader. That's the kind of guy that should ride it, you know, as opposed to a Wall Street guy that destroys the railroad, but he's good financially, right?
And he was a very impressive guy. And I said, so what do you think? Where should we go next as a city? Because we're going to go one, two, three, and then we'll do a few at a time. But we're going to straighten out the crime in these cities.
He said, Sir, Memphis would be good because he's on the board of FedEx. He said, When I walk one block to my hotel, they won't allow me to do it. They put me in an armored vehicle. with bulletproof glass, to take me one block. He said, It's so terrible.
I said, let me ask you a question.
So we're going to Memphis. I'm just announcing that now, and we'll straighten that out. National Guard and anybody else we need. And by the way, we'll bring in the military too if we need it. Wow, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen.
And all of this came about as an interview that President Trump did exclusively on this radio station. And I hope, and you know, it really doesn't matter to us who gets the credit for this, but the reality is those comments were made right here on this radio station, and we just asked. We asked the president, could you please come to Memphis? And I think I was more astounded that nobody actually bothered to ask that question. I guess everybody just assumed that in our elected leaders, we just have to live like this.
But we don't have to live like this. This is embarrassing. I don't know about you, but it's embarrassing to hear the President of the United States talk about how dangerous our city is. It's so bad that FedEx has to put their people in armored carriers to get them around town.
Well, what about the rest of us?
So, curious to hear your thoughts on this. The president also hinting that if need be, we're going to have to bring in the. The troops, the military. And I'm going to tell you what needs to happen here. They've got to declare war on these gangs.
And they have to eradicate the gang bangers in Memphis. And I know that's going to be dis by the way. I will say this: Mayor Paul Young, he. He he's not happy about this at all. And Governor Lee isn't either.
I will say this. that your friendly neighborhood host here. On this program. got word of what the president was going to do before the governor of Tennessee did. And I know that for a fact.
So. I They're going to be putting on some happy faces, but they are really upset over this. And let me just say. I don't care. I don't care if Paul Young is glad or if he's or if he's mad.
I don't care. The man has been derelict in his responsibilities. I had hopes for Paul Young. We brought him on K-Wam during the campaign. We had great conversations.
And by the way, he seems to be a nice guy. I don't know him that well personally, but all of our conversations were cordial. And I had great hope. But I'm telling you, he has completely failed. And he refused to listen to anybody.
He refused to listen to this audience. And that bothers me. Because you guys have been lighting up our phones for years now, telling City Hall we got problems.
So President Trump says, no worries, we're coming to town. Let's go to David in East Memphis. All right, David, what say you? Uh Shouldn't be necessary, but Paul Young is um Completely abdicated his job. And then Bill Lee.
For all the GOPers out there, cities are chartered by the state.
So it's not the other way around.
So the state does have responsibility to take care of their citizens as well.
So both of them. have just completely ignored the problem. And then besides that, I mean, the only question I have is: where are you going to put them? Are you going to stick them down Bill Street for a photo op? Or you got.
A target-rich environment here with North and South Memphis, Orange Mound, Hickory Hill, Fraser, Raleigh. Whitehaven. I mean, where are you going to put all these guys? That needs to be asked. If you're just going to do a photo off on Bill Street, just stay home.
But if you're going to come down here and do something, Um You know, then that would be great. But if you're not, Main That's what that's the big question I have. And then I'm also wondering how much resistance the uh County and city mayor will both put up to it, but um I think it's just The big question to me is where are you going to put them?
Well that's We have a lot of options.
Well, we have, you know, you've got Millington. You know, you've got the old naval base up there. That could be a possibility. They're going to be able to find places. And look, if they have to, they'll pitch tents in the middle of, you know, they'll pitch tents in the football field at the Liberty Bowl.
I don't know, David. But let me ask you this. You've seen what's happened in Washington to see, and I can tell you I've been to Washington two or three times since the National Guard hit the streets, and it's not for photo ops. I can promise you that, David.
Well, I hope so. I'm not talking about where they're going to house them. I'm talking about where they're going to focus their efforts. Oh, I see what you're saying. We have a lot of options there.
David, you know what? It's funny because I was thinking about that a couple of weeks ago because Memphis is so spread out. I mean, you've got, as you said, Whitehaven, Hickory Hill. You've got North Memphis, South Memphis. There's a lot of work that needs to be done.
And let me say this, though, David. Could you imagine what kind of a city we could have? if in fact they're able to to eradicate this crime? Oh yeah. I mean, I love the city.
We have a lot of great things here. We got a lot of really cool things here. We got things that are worth coming to see. But You always have to worry about: well, am I going to go back to my car and the windshield be smashed out? Or am I going to be accosted in the parking lot?
That's the problem. Crime is the problem here of education second, but crime is the problem with Memphis. People Can say, can call you negative, whatever. I really don't care what you call me. I got thin skin, thick skin, a lot of it.
But the point is, That we the crime is the problem, and the mayor here These stats, about 25-year lows. I lived in Cordova 25 years ago. You think Cordova is safer now than it was 25 years ago? Give me a break. I mean, the guy is.
Yeah, pick any part of the city and compare it 25 years ago. It's a joke.
So that's pathetic. Yeah. All right, David, got to run, my friend, but I appreciate your call. 901-260-5926. Your reaction, President Trump announcing the National Guard is coming to Memphis.
901-260-5926. All right. Let's check in with Parker May standing by with your Friday sports update brought to you by our friends at Ortho One. And welcome back to Wake Up Memphis, or rather Starnes Country, everybody. I'm Todd Starnes.
Great to have you with us. And again, we sort of had it. We had an entire show planned out, and we had to blow it all up. And the reason why is because of all of the breaking news. First of all, a suspect has been captured in the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the president making that announcement today.
Also, we can confirm the president delivering on his promise to K-Wham, and he is sending in the National Guard. The National Guard will be deployed to Memphis. And the president said, if need be, we will also send in the military. It is about to be a new day. In the Mid South.
And ladies and gentlemen, I know so many people are excited about that news. Let's go to the phone lines, nine zero one two six zero five nine two six Cordova Latina. All right, Latino, what say you? Hi, how you doing? I'm good, thank you.
Yes, I just want to say I'm so excited and grateful that the troops are coming to Memphis. They are very much needed. I mean, it gets it. gotten to the point where you're afraid to drive in the daytime. I mean, you see robberies, you see rigorous driving, and we really need a gear to control the crime and to make the citizens safe again because they don't feel safe.
in the city at all. Even during the daytime, you never feel safe. Car jacket. Shooting, robbing armor drugs. All that is going on throughout the city.
I am so excited.
So grateful. Yeah. Chosen to come to Memphis. You know, I it it really it does my heart good. You know, we asked the president and he said, you know what, we're going to take a look at Memphis.
And after we did that long interview, the president actually circled back and he says, We're gonna look at Memphis. We're gonna take a long, hard look at what's going on there. And Latina, I just so appreciate that because are you a long-term? Are you an old-timer? Have you been around Memphis for a while?
Yes, I've been around Memphis all my life. This is the worst that I've ever seen. Right, exactly.
So, same here. And the young people don't know this, but Memphis did not used to be like this. No, when my family visits here from Washington, D.C., we cannot go out to Elvis. We cannot visit Graceland. We cannot visit these streets because we're afraid that we're going to get killed.
Joe. We really need the help and the assistance. And it should have been done years ago.
Someone should have come in and looked at the problem years ago. And one other thing I would like to say, if we could just have a Metro Memphis, that would be great. I don't see any reason in having two mayors.
Well, they're both bad.
So you're saying we'd rather have just one bad mayor than two bad mayors? Absolutely. All right. Well, Latina, thank you for calling in. And more importantly, thank you for listening to the Mighty 990.
We sure do appreciate your voice and your comments this morning.
Well, thank you so much, and I listen to you. Every morning.
Well, thank you, Latina. You know what, Latina? Do you have a copy of my new book, Star Spangled Blessings? No, I don't.
Well, we're going to take care of that. Don't hang up because Cassie's going to get your information, and we want to make sure you get a signed copy of my latest book. Just a way of saying thank you for listening to K Wham.
Okay, thank you so much. Yes, ma'am. All right, hang tight. Don't go anywhere. 901-260-5926 is our telephone number.
That's 901-260-5926. The breaking news: President Trump announcing that he is sending the National Guard, and if need be, he will be sending in the U.S. military to create. Crackdown on crime in the mid-south.
Now, we are going to be getting the details. But here's what needs to happen. I think that we need to get all over this and we need to come up with a plan, an action plan. How do we welcome the National Guard? How do we welcome the military to the Mid-South?
And I think Latina's right. Um we've got a We gotta protect Chrysland. That's our national treasure. I mean, this is insane. But more importantly, we got to protect our neighborhoods.
And it angers me when I hear from just heartbroken homeowners in. Um Uh in uh in in Whitehaven. And in Oak Haven, and they're invested in the community. They purchase their homes, and they're having to wake up to gunfire at one, two, three o'clock in the morning. It's not right.
Let's go to Peter in East Memphis. And Peter, I understand you've got an interesting perspective here. What say you? Again, how are you? morning.
Good to hear from you.
Well, thank you. All right. What's on your mind, Peter?
Well, actually, I come to Memphis every couple of months and live in D.C.
So I wanted to give you a little perspective on what we experienced with the National Guard in D.C. And hopefully, maybe give you a little idea of what you all can expect. Yeah, absolutely. First of all, if there was a place to do it, Memphis obviously I think would be next on the list. Awesome.
Say this: it's going to require your mayor. and your police force to do some work. Because what the National Guard did in DC They did some beautification stuff. And mostly what they did was freed up the uh police force to go after some of the worst spots. You didn't have a lot of National Guard making arrests.
You didn't have a lot of National Guard. you know They were on the streets, but they weren't they weren't there doing law enforcement. They were there. in the high traffic areas being present Maintaining order. But the police force has got to carry out the actual law enforcement work.
So You know, I don't know what the situation is with the with the city police or maybe state police coming in. whatever it may be, but It's not just National Guard comes in, they take over and do all these things. That's not what they do. That's not their job. I mean, they just don't do that kind of stuff.
stuff. the city police to focus. on those High crime period. And Peter, and that may be what we see, for example, like in downtown where you just have a massive number of Memphis police officers, those that responsibility could maybe be taken over or assumed by the National Guard so they can get out into these hot spots and overwhelm the hot spots because we're about five to six hundred officers down from our full complement.
So we've got a shortage here. And just like D.C., we have a DEI hire in the police chief position.
So it's a mess. And I will say this, Peter. The times I've been to D.C. since the National Guard went in, it does feel different, and a lot of the residents are very grateful. I think there's a certain amount of truth to that.
There are certain areas of D C that I don't think it was ever as bad, quite as bad as Memphis. I just feel bad for Memphis because I I remember stories. had family come out here about, you know, growing up in Memphis. and just what a wonderful place it it was. I think Memphis is in a special place.
condition and I feel bad for y'all and I hope This is something that That your police force can make a real impact in those high crime areas and. You know, you you drive the criminals out and it gives you a chance.
Well said. That's what you need.
Well said. Peter, thank you for calling in, and thanks for listening. And we appreciate the kind words you said about our city because Memphis is a very special place, and I'm excited because. This president cares. He sees what's happening, and I think we're about to see a new day here in the Bluff City.
Let's go to Cordova. Scott is on the line. Hey, Scott, what say you? I think it's terrific. Todd, I welcome the National Guard and anything else, any other help that the President wants to send us here, we could use it.
I applaud you in the previous caller. I think that's exactly the correct utilization of them to go to these hot spots these tourist spots that are so important for our local economy to stand a post and free up our local officers to go after The crime that's all over the place in Shelby County and in Memphis. One thing that Mayor Harris. May not be aware of. Perhaps he isn't uh as well traveled or observant as he might be.
I fly to New York City several times a year. You get off a plane in LaGuardia, what do you see? Eight uniformed officers with shotguns roaming around the airport. You sure do. You go to Grand Central Station, what do you see?
Army guys with M fours discreetly back in the corners. And that's the kind of application we could stand here. They have it in big blue cities up north. They just don't talk about it or publicize it.
Well, Scott, you're 1,000% accurate on there, and I've seen it firsthand. Scott, I got to run, my friend, but we're going to keep the conversation going at 11 o'clock on the national show. Again, folks, breaking news. President Trump sending the National Guard, possibly the U.S. military, to Memphis, Tennessee.
Bad guys, you better pack your bags and get out of town. Because Trump's comment. Have a great one, everybody. We will see you at 11 right here on the MyD99.
