Today is July 3, 2020, it is the 239 year since the Declaration of Independence was signed and a group of men committed high treason against the British Empire.  In light of the troubles of the past few months, today Steve asks callers “How do you feel about America today?”

Because let's be honest, it doesn't look great, doesn't it doesn't look so great right now we have a deeply deeply divided nation we are divided already. Donald Trump's ascendancy to the presidency in November 2016. The political environment leading up to that, expose that division. It brought a new level of division even into the church.

Even the evangelical church and of course the presidency and right away we going to impeachment all kinds of great things happened still wonderful things going on for the country. Some of the greatest economic numbers we've ever seen before getting tough on China renegotiating trade contracts all kinds of good stuff that happened and from an African-American perspective permanent funding for historically black colleges and universities that didn't happen under the African-American president of Pres. Obama. We had a prison reform which a lot of conservatives had a problem with and that didn't happen under Obama, but it did under Donald Trump. A lot of people like to claim that he's a racist and you got some of the lowest of African-American unemployment rate that we've seen in at least 50 years, probably historically until the covert, 19 thing then COBIT 19 hits and we have that whole environment. Then, George, Floyd, and then the protests and then the riots, and then the looting and then the Confederate state monuments national monuments in DC, the renaming of this that and the other thing pulling products off the shelves. Social media is ablaze. So how do you feel about America today, July 3, 2020 866-34-TRUTH 87884 is the number is always would love to hear from you today.

Perhaps your you're worried you're worried about the future of this nation who could blame you. Maybe you think another Civil War is coming six months, 12 months ago I would've said that's hyperbole. I don't take that position anymore.

I think it's become entirely possible especially got people like Chaz and chop out there and in Seattle and you got armed people and other arms people on the other side of the aisle protecting some monuments around the country.

One shot leads to to to lead so for for lead state, it could get ugly past the police situation defund get rid of the police. The thin blue line.

What happens when they just stop answering the phone call because they just get so sick and tired of the opinions of some percentage of the public.

Everybody's filming them all the time you think we had a hard time finding good police officers before.

I wonder what is going to be like now all these things are massively serious massively concerning.

I've got several things to read here going all the way back to 1620 to 1630 to 1863 I just read an article by David Limbaugh or Rush Limbaugh's brother. We must decide whether we want to save America. Now that's just something we have to decide get to make a decision about that one. How do you feel about America. Perhaps you served this nation.

We haven't seen this level of the protesting and rioting and looting in the monuments and all the other stuff on top a covert, 19 a government that's acting radically different from one state to the next, although they are starting to kinda coalesce, including states like Texas governor habit is now going you know mandatory facemasks situation because a covert but weaved. I've never seen days like this.

Most of you probably haven't seen so are you optimistic about America's future. Are you not are you worried are just how you feel about her. A lot of that is result of economic depression coming out of the relocation of some African Americans after slavery ended but we have slavery in our past. So how do you kinda manage both of those things we have like I try to look at America Brian the same way I look at myself or anybody else. We all have a checkered past. Everybody's got junk on their ledger in an so you can either focus on that you can understand it and be hopeful about other things a nation can't get redeemed.

Obviously we can as individuals, but how do you kinda process the fact that yes there's some ugly past.

There's some ugly present yet. You sound like you still love this nation and when I look at it in good and I'm almost not right absolutely no way they will make it so make it good. No way. But even if Truth Network of the show, so I'm accrued so I know there were other slaves became outdoor promised land account and I don't want to sound strange, but it got, where I take it, but with a caveat. I take it as though there was a reason we were here are my answers so greatly, but we are here now we have an option, an opportunity for my kids have an opportunity to grow in floors. I don't care what your deal absolutely prohibited. Well yeah but had a conversation and as a people get involved if people just sit and you know this bind people to sit on the sidelines and complain about it they don't know they don't get to know their elected officials are not involved in their city or county politics, then you know if you if you're not willing to get in the game, you have no right to whine about it that's always been my position personally but yeah I mean that that's an issue I agree with you there and and let's deal that as people that live under the rule of law and that's because if we lose the rule of law, you lose everything. I don't care what else you're talking about was the rule of law is gone.

The whole thing falls apart more church, but I wanted every American thereto. If you're not right I or anybody listening. I get the black lives matter and not me. Nobody outline matter, but I don't go with the BLM movement right there different. And on really think people need to understand that there is some hidden agendas inside of movement not go for Christian base need to be understanding of and understand it to absolutely that's a great point Brian.

We should all be willing to acknowledge the good the bad and the ugly. But then have hope for the future redemption for the individual a change in direction for nation and progress moving towards a more just society. Okay, no question. But the problem is, as we are removing are historical things set aside the Confederate things I'm talking about monuments to US presidents in World War II monuments in Washington DC.

There is a faction here, the ones that daren't tear the whole thing down and I'm so glad he mentioned the black lives matter. Yes, all black lives matter without doubt, that is a general notion for me as a Christian. That's a no-brainer, but BLM has take BLM the organization is anti-Christian & difficult and I think they care more about gender expression and sexuality and no funding fourth birthday of the United States America that will be tomorrow July 4.

Are you feeling good about her are you feeling concerned. How do you feel about her future and dealing with all the things in her past. I'm I'm I love this country. I do not deny any of the garbage that has been here that still is here and like every individual the country as a checkered past. Some things are brilliant beautiful somethings are horrific and you gotta be levelheaded about all that stuff and so that's why were talking today on the eve of the 244th birthday, which by the way America didn't start in 1619 in Jamestown Jamestown was like this a wretched hive of scum and villainy is a horrendous place north of Jamestown was a little place called Plymouth where the Puritans landed the pilgrims who were religious separatists and all region. Some of their stuff.

I've got a copy to Mayflower compact in front of me. The wording from 1620 Gov. John Winthrop, and in the Plymouth colony in 1630 I want to make sure I read some of that to you kind of reorient, make art, make sure compass, and our minds are remembering out of what soil this country came out of imperfectly, yes. Not the winning greeter America stands for willful a lot of negative people things that happen, so I don't want to draw them in a place in the Museum so we don't get not be on public property and then the other things that these people going on trying to take away all the presidential thing you need a commission need input from the public as to how you want to treat those. I don't see taken down every single thing every change every 30 no you can't do it that way.

You know, our founding fathers really did have a number of Christians that were prominent in writing the Constitution and prominent and in starting with Paris branch of the government reflecting the Trinity may even thought of you know we got this one.

People now for the flaws. The laws are there because even even those who are Christians were still flawed individual I have I have a hard time with trying to have a blanket left here down all the mind of everyone we do not agree with. Because when we look at the bigger picture. There's more than the BPI. There there were honorable God-fearing people out both sides of the Civil War and a blonde hundred percent about slavery you have you had Sherman in the North you had slaves you had grant who had slaves. You had Robert E Lee in the South. You can't but the difference was and I've been to Arlington House.

My point is you know were were not fighting against each other and I would gotta war going on which we can't win all around on the Bible says, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers and authorities, against the powers, against the dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms were fired were suddenly found ourselves fighting against each other, but were not recognized who's doing the motivation behind it just now, we gotta get back to our world.

So if you hate God you hate law and order, and you love lawlessness, that's underneath all assistance, whereas the center United States devoutly recognizing the supreme authority and just government of Almighty God in all the affairs of men and of nations has by a resolution requested the president to designate and set apart a day for national prayer and humiliation, and whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, which is what Gary was just talking about and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the holy Scriptures and proven by all history that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord. So when we don't evangelize and we don't share we don't teach history. We don't live out our faith boldly than their culture around us just for gets in, insomuch as we know that by his divine law nations, like individuals are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world. Let's go all the way back. The pilgrims who came here first religious separatists seeking religious freedom.
