And this edition of Overreaction Monday, back after just a President's Day week off. Good to see you over there, Christopher Brockman.

Hey, Rich. What's happening, man? What's happening?

Well, I mean, I'm driving into work and I'm hearing the news and I'm reading from the NFL Network assignment desk and the information desk that the top two quarterbacks aren't expected to throw at the combine. Yep, yep, yep. And, you know. Get ready for a whole lot of Jackson Dart, man.

Well, guess what? Jackson Dart is going to have a whole heck of a lot of eyeballs on him and a lot of talk about him and he is going to be treated as if he's the first overall drafted quarterback. Yeah, and someone Jordan Palmer was talking about last week, Kyle McCord, my guy from Syracuse one year. He'll get some run. I think he's going to get a lot of run. Milro will get some run. A lot of hand-sized stuff with Milro this week. Again, I don't know if I'm cannibalizing any part of when you got good.

Not really. Well, I mean, let me just hit this here. We'll talk about it on the flagship show, as always, as well. Listen, bottom line is it's a bummer for the television network for us at NFL Network and it's a bummer for the actual broadcast. It would be great to see these guys throw. It'd be great to see Cam Ward.

He could just show up and throw it out of the building. And same thing, you know, with Chidor. And straight up, Caleb Williams didn't throw last year. But he was out there and we were talking about him because he was basically shaking hands with every single person behind the scenes who puts the combine on from the guy who drives the golf cart to pick up the pylons and whoever is the videographer in the middle of the field. And he shook everybody's hands and basically turned the lights off in the place.

And we were talking about that. And he still was drafted first overall. He didn't throw. Jayden Daniels didn't throw.

And boy, did that affect him. You know, so I understand. He had only thrown.

You know what I mean? So he was drafted where where everybody expected him to be drafted and and everything turned out to be fine for him. So I understand why these guys don't want to throw. It's not because they're afraid of throwing their shoulder out or having any sort of significant injury. It's it's also completely random as to who they throw. And and it's totally random who's in the line who they're throwing to. And sometimes that guy runs the wrong route, doesn't cut things off at the proper spot. And it looks like, you know, the quarterback prospect doesn't know what he's doing.

I get all that. And it also sets things up for mystery and for their pro day and what have you. It's just a bummer, man. It's a bummer when these guys don't want to throw.

And it does give off the impression to some evaluators, whether it's true or not. And they don't want to compete there. They're not up for competing. Right.

It's that simple. And if they're able to take that sort of criticism and that sort of conversation about them while the others around them get the spotlight, the white hot spotlight, I as Jackson Dart will so be it. Yeah, there's still going to be a lot of stuff, though, about them. Chador and I'm sure Cam said they're going to be there for the interviews are going to do all the interviews. And obviously the medical, the height and weight for those guys is going to be really interesting because they're not huge guys.

They're in that six one, six two range. And weight is important for Chador. And, you know, there is still a lot of intrigue with those guys. But yeah, always a bummer when they're not out there. Exactly.

And they're also not chewing to be first or second overall. Correct. Well, we're going to get to that at some point.

All right. Thirty minutes. Here we go. Overreaction Monday. Hit it, please.

Hit it. That was terrible. That was crap.

That was garbage. This place sucks. Overreaction Mondays. Monday. On a Monday. On a Monday.

On actual Monday. All right, Rich, how you doing, man? You good? I'm good. All right. There you go. I'm great. Excellent. Ten seconds.

We won't get back. Cage had a good birthday party. Oh, my goodness. So many people at my house. We did two waves of parties. One for his class and then kind of like my friends and all their kids. Yeah. So there was just so much happening.

Thanks for the invite. Well, your kids are older. I don't think they would be down with bouncy houses. You have no idea. Everybody survived, though. Everybody good? Everybody's broken.

Everybody's arrived. No bones. A lot of food. OK, here we go.

OK, go for it. Rich, Rich. You think about last year. You're like, oh, man, Bill Belichick. Like everyone's going to want him. What happened? No job.

Correct. Aaron Rodgers, same situation. Aaron Rodgers is going to find himself this year's Bill Belichick. I think I did. I say that on the air last week that he might be this year's version of Bill. I have a feeling.

I don't I don't have any. We're on the same wavelength. I can't disagree with this. I mean. I don't know.

And. I think the free agency period. Well, here's two ways to look at it. Let me sound this one out. First of all, last year, we thought the same thing about Russell Wilson and he wound up getting a job and not only a job, but the pole position in Pittsburgh. That's true.

To the point where Kenny Pickett's like, get me out of here. Russell Wilson wasn't 40. I'm I'm just saying we have the same opinion of Russell Wilson is what you're throwing out there. And he wound up not only finding a gig right at the new league year time where people need to find gigs, because otherwise you're waiting to see if somebody is not drafting somebody or if somebody gets hurt like that. If you don't get the gig or land in a spot by the new league year free agency period, then you are then waiting to see if a spot will open based on whether somebody gets one in the draft or somebody gets hurt in training camp. And we thought Russell Wilson would be in that situation. And he wasn't even close to that situation.

He found a gig and got told you are going to get every opportunity. As a matter of fact, the first opportunity in training camp when that opens to the point where Kenny Pickett's like, get me out of here. Right.

All right. That's one to who would be the ones to say to Aaron Rodgers, let's get you in here and let's get you a pole position situation for yourself. Who would be the one to do it? Would it be Pittsburgh again? Because at this point last year, as we were heading off to the combine, if you said guess what quarterback room is going to be Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, I'd have said overreaction. Yeah, right. Of course.

So we don't know what we don't know. Could Pittsburgh be that team again? Absolutely. Why not? Would Tennessee be that team? The question is, would Rodgers want to do that? Because he's absolutely a bridge quarterback there.

We're not talking about, hey, you catch fire, you win a Super Bowl this year with the team that's first over on the clock, right? Cleveland. He would be going there and doing what? Maybe that's a spot where he can land?

Would Cleveland be willing to do that and roll the dice and not take somebody second overall and add Travis Hunter and have Aaron Rodgers in there? That seems pretty fun. Doable. Yeah. Right.

Certainly since there's nobody coming back. If there's anybody who knows the return from Achilles injury and how long that might take kind of would be this guy. So Deshaun Watson is out within Achilles for this year. I'm sounding it out right now.

As you should. I don't think the Giants would be the spot for him. I don't think the, would the Raiders be willing to do something like that?

The Raiders is kind of a fun one because you're not guaranteed that one of these guys is going to fall to you at six. So unless you kind of trade up, I just don't think Rogers would go to a spot where all of a sudden he gets a shoulder tap on the day of the draft again and saying, guess who, which team drafted somebody in the first round, a quarterback. Exactly.

Been there, done that. I don't think he'd be interested in that. What if Devante Adams comes back to Las Vegas? Maybe. That's entirely possible.

They come as a package deal again. Yeah. I do that if I'm the Raiders. I think so.

But if I'm Aaron Rogers, you say to Pete Carroll and the rest and Spike Tekken, Brady, you're going to take Chidoor? Right. What's our play here? Right.

What's the play? Yeah. So that's why I'm, this is a tough one, but I don't think this is an overreaction. Not saying it's going to happen, but I don't think this is so out of the realm where I'm looking at you saying, get out of here.

These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Well, this kind of dovetails into the, our second topic. Okay. And it has to do with the Rams because look at you dovetailing. You see, it's impressive.

I'm a dovetailer. Rich, you see a lot of the chatter over the weekend was like, Rams move on from Stafford, bring in Rogers. That seems insane to me.

It does. The Rams would be making a huge mistake moving on from Matthew Stafford. 100% 100% and especially for Rogers. Well, let me ask you this though.

I don't understand that. Would you give Stafford two, three years of guaranteed like top of the line market? Right. So that's the deal. He wants a new deal for what, three 120, three 150.

You're going to do that? Why wouldn't he? He should absolutely want that.

Why wouldn't he just basically want to be able to look at his wife and the beautiful kids and say, do you see that beautiful sunset? We're set. This is it. Yep.

This is going to be the final spot. I don't need to do the year to year thing. I don't need to do this and bouncing around question about if I'm 40, am I going to, he doesn't want to be in the Rogers situation. Right.

Okay. And you don't have six months in New York, wherever, but to be in the Rogers situation, you would leave the warm embrace of exactly what you know. And so why would he do that too?

And if you just look at it from a football standpoint, they play the Eagles the best in the playoffs. The thing I don't understand, the thing I don't understand about this, and we're going to ask both Albert Breer and Mike Mayock this very question on our Monday flagship show, how is it possible that you, and by the way, Pelosero was the first to drop this breadcrumb on our show Friday. I'm kicking myself that I didn't follow up on that where he basically said that the Rams are allowing Stafford's agent, Jimmy Sexton and go knocking around on doors to see what the market would be if, if things don't work out with the Rams. And it's and how that's technically not him asking for a trade, right? It's not exactly tampering, but how, how is that not asking for a trade?

He's, he is, you've told his agent, go ahead and find out what he's worth. And, and it's similar to the Lamar Jackson situation a couple of years ago where, why, where we were all wondering, why wouldn't a team go ahead and just sign him and, you know, cough up the first ground draft choices that would, it would be, it would cost to sign a franchise tagged quarterback. Why would you go ahead? Why wouldn't you do that? Well, part of the reason why you don't do that is because you're setting the market for the team that you know that's just going to sign him.

You're giving them the answers to the test. And so why would a team say, yeah, we'd be willing to pay you this when that just helps the Rams pay him back. The whole thing is confusing to me. And it's a smart move by Sean McVay and Les at the Rams. We, you know, we also don't know what's going on between anybody in that building because they have kept it very quiet. All I know is when I was around the guy and that week, that's week 16 game against Arizona. It's hunky dory, man.

He was balling second half of the year. I sense no tension. I sense no nothing. I sense no, like when McVay was brought up, there was no eye rolls.

If there was any sort of situation going on. The thing is Sean McVay has proven he will cut bait. Like they did it with Jared Goff. Why wouldn't he do it with Matthew Stafford?

Who's going to be 38 this coming season. And in terms of that, Stafford had an outstanding parking spot. There were only five players who had actual labeled with their number parking spots. And he had the one to the left, the most to the left, right in front of the door. So, you know, they gave him a great parking spot, which as you know, in Los Angeles. And at SoFi specifically.

Well, it's not SoFi. This was at their practice facility. Which by the way, parking is not that tough. All I'm saying, is that in Southern California, in Los Angeles, parking is the number one way to tell somebody, I like you. If the parking is taken care of in the most first class white glove.

You are valued. Correct. That said, I don't. Yes, they would. I think it's not.

This is a crazy story. Let's stick with them here. Best you can. But the question is, you know, if you're him, you're going to say, I want to finish my years here.

And how do you figure that out if you're the Rams? You're going to give him 50 million when he's 40? I just made that noise for a reason. Yeah, exactly. Okay. Let's talk about that. It wouldn't be an overreaction, Rich, if we didn't talk about the Dallas Cowboys. If the Cowboys whiff on free agency again, Micah Parsons is going to ask for a trade.

I don't think so. I'll call this an overreaction. I'll call it an overreaction. It might raise the cost of how much it takes to pay him.

It might create some sort of a situation, certainly if he pops on his podcast and he's like, what are we doing here? Oh, that's definitely going to happen. But we also don't know if the Cowboys are going to I can't wait to go to the combine. I'm going to go.

I am dying for the rumors. I'm just going to tell you this. I'm going to go up to the same people who told me last year who were right. All in is not what you think. All in does not mean.

Okay. All in does not mean he's going to go all in on the free agency front, Jerry Jones, and supplement his team with players in the free agent front to go all in this year to win and cap themselves out for the future years to just do it now. I'll go up to those same people and say, what's the plan this year? What are you hearing? You know, Jerry's been kind of quiet the last couple of weeks, right? Didn't see him pop up at the Senior Bowl, which is where the all-in comment started.

You know, East-West Shrine. We haven't heard much from Mr. Jones. Maybe this week will be different. I was shocked I didn't see him at the SAG Awards yesterday to accept his guest acting honor from Landman. Or is that maybe next year's SAG Awards? Might be. I don't think so. I think Micah stays a Cowboy. I think he'll just do it late.

The usual drill. Okay. If I had a guess. And that the Cowboys will not be completely silent on the free agency front this year. The cap is up, man. Well, I mean, look, Smitch made the graphic. They're at negative one. Well, because Zach Martin retired. I know.

I know. We'll show that on the flagship, I guess, today. Yeah, they're at negative one on their total. They're at negative one. Yeah, I just think they will. I don't think they'll go splash. I don't think they're going to go and take Trey Smith from the Chiefs.

But that's what they should be doing. You're the Dallas Cowboys. I don't know. I don't know, Micah, it doesn't seem like the type of guy who's just going to sit around and wait for his money. I get it. He's going to get it. Yeah. Well, from somebody. Maybe not Dallas.

It'll be the Dallas Cowboys. Hey, Rich Eisen here. I hear from a lot of business owners like you about the work it takes to pursue your passions. That's O'Reilly Auto dot com slash Eisen. What else? Rich, this was your, I think, I believe they were your sleeper team heading into last year. I think, Cardinals, I think it's going to start to get a little bit loud around the quarterback. Kyler Murray heads into this offseason as the front runner with the quarterback with the most to prove in twenty twenty five. I like it.

Let me just sound it out here. You don't think Dak's got anything to prove coming back? Dak's coming off of an injury.

He's got a built-in excuse. We don't think, um, but Kyler Murray played last year, played pretty well at times in the last third of the season. Wasn't that great? And they're a team that, you know, played above their heads a little bit last year. We like the coach.

We like a lot of their weapons. Obviously, Marvin Harris and James Connors still good. We don't think Trevor Lawrence is in that category. I think he's there as well. I think he's right there. Also, though, coming off of an injury, he's got, you know, he's banged up. Didn't finish the season.

Trevor Lawrence is now on his third head coach. The first one, I understand why they got bounced. The second one is definitely because he didn't develop.

Or wasn't developed. Okay. We'll see how Duvall. Duvall. That's growing on me, by the way. But Trevor's there.

But definitely coming off of, you know, the season at hand. Hold on. I'm still working through it here. It's okay.

Take your time. Is CJ Stroud in this category? Oh, year tier three.

He's the most approved. Second year was a drop-off. And the first year guy who was drafted second overall. Second year drop-off. They won a playoff game again.

It was a drop-off regular season. Without the weapons that he has here before. Alright. So CJ Stroud, I'll discard him from this conversation. Tua. Is Tua in this conversation?

Oh, for sure. Year two of his big deal. More than Kyler Murray, though? AFC's tougher. We're not expecting as much out of Miami. Tua got pizzed.

He sure did. But Tua, Kyler. I know that. We're right there. Okay. I'm buying Tua.

Tua more than Kyler. Have I gotten you to disprove your own overreaction Monday topic bar? I don't think so. Okay.

AFC is tougher. Are you saying that just because you don't want to be in the position of disproving yourself? Self-disapproving.

Or self-disproval. I don't want to do that. Okay.

I do think Kyler's up there. There's medication for that. I don't know if I'll buy this. But it's in the realm. It's in the realm. But I don't know if this is going to be even in a top ten conversation of our offseason. It's an interesting choice to hit this one. But I want to put it out there. I want to be the first.

You are. I think we're going to start talking about it. Because he's going to be a guy. Could you get him in a trade? As the quarterback contracts go up, suddenly his deal doesn't look so outrageous.

It's a moveable contract if you want to get off of him. Okay. So, right. And next year's draft class could be?

Could be loaded. Could be better. Well, the neat part about it for them, and for him, is they didn't lose their OC. Drew Petzing's coming back. And he did get some run of coaching interviews.

So, there's some consistency there. Year two of Marv. We'll see who they add in the draft. James Connor. Still tough. Still tough.

And Trey McBride. Beast. Correct.

Maybe the best tight end in the league. Alright. So, I'll just say no and move on. I'll say no. I mean, if the Rams trade Stafford, right?

And we don't know what their quarterback situation is, suddenly they're in the mix there in the NFC West. Okay. I would think, though, I finally landed on the guy. I can't believe you'd think this guy has the most to prove next year. And it won't be Brock Purdy after he hit something with maybe a six. Dude. Let's wait. Let's wait till that's coming. It's coming. And you know, it's coming. And you know, you're about to, I can't believe I didn't just jump on that in the first two seconds. Alright. Total overreaction.

Cause you are going to lead the charge on the Purdy front when he gets possessed. That's coming. Not an overreaction.

Not an overreaction that I will be the first. Moving on. Alright, a couple more before we wrap this up and then head into the combine this weekend, Rich.

Yes. Thinking about running backs. Running backs had a great year last year, right? Especially free agent running backs.

No doubt. The three biggest free agent running backs were the three best running backs in the league. Saquon, Henry and Jacobs.

Correct. Who's a running back right now that wants to get paid? James Cook. James Cook, Rich.

He said 15 a year. The bills are risking going full giants, which you don't want to do ever by being cheap with James Cook. So that means James Cook goes to the dolphins? I think James, if they don't pay James Cook, they are risking something. By the way.

Cause if you're saying it's going full giants, you put James Cook in that offense because they already told Raheem Mostert we're done. Right. A-Chan is there.

But A-Chan gets popped every now and then. It's banged up. You know who was a beast last year? James Cook, paid a man. I agree. 15 million. What are we doing? I don't know. I don't understand it.

I don't get it. I totally, but again, the whole point is, you know, Hoskins may know this cause he's, he's held captive right now. By the mafia? No, by us. What round was he taken in? He was taken in this second rounder, right?

Yeah. That's the point here. You know, that's the point is you can, you can, you can get the, a guy like James Cook and on a Friday night in green Bay. And if you're Brandon, as a deep running back class, as we know, second round or 2022, that's the point.

Cause you know, I always try to give the counterbalance, even though I am a table pounder. Boy, you have led the charge and I have been the one pushing back on the running back guys are the difference makers, the difference makers. They are the ones who can close a game out in January or February. These are the guys that can close a playoff run out in December. These are the guys who run the four minute drills, the eight minute drills and stuff like that. These are the guys you want on the field. And when they're not like say, if you recall, um, way back in the day when Reggie Bush wasn't on the field against Texas, that's college from that's how far back these conversations go. Jonathan Taylor in the winter, go home game against the Texans. A couple of regular seasons ago, he was on the field and he was the main engine to drive Gardner Minshew and the Colts down the field. But who wasn't on the field on fourth down. These are the guys who are the difference makers all the time until it is time to get paid.

And it is weird. It is bizarre that these are the red lines for general managers. No, the extra 3 million for you, the extra 5 million for you. We would rather make sure we get someone extra for our special teams or a guard or something. We need more depth on the offensive line. We need to make sure that somebody can be a swing man on defense and special teams. We need two or three of those guys. We'd rather get those guys to fill out our 53 man than you get what you're looking for.

I don't get it. We'll see. This may have been a whole long winded table pound for something that won't be necessary because the bills will pay him. But if you're saying that they're going to go full giants to get full giants, James Cook has got to go somewhere in the East. The Jets don't need him. The Jets will not pay him because they've got Breece Hall.

New England could use him. But they have to stay in the East and they have to go ahead and win. Now, Chiefs. Chiefs is a different story. Now that would be full giants, although full giants is his division, but still it's a rival. Can't beat KC in the playoffs. So this is not an overreaction when you're saying that the bills should pay him.

The full giants, we've got to see where he winds up. If he does. Correct. Get moved. Right. So you're on the right track. The breadcrumbs have been dropped. Seems like you're dropping breadcrumbs.

You're using our first off season pod to drop the breadcrumbs, plant some seeds. I'm like Tom Cruise in Minority Report. I'm like moving stuff around. You're like Chrissy Appleseed. I don't know if I've ever been called that. Nope. Never again either.

Rich, last one. Sure. You're going to Indian Apple? That's where I'm going. combine still in India, right? Combine still in India.

And you know that, so I'm wondering what the setup is. A lot of intrigue at the top of the draft. I think this could be the least predictable top three of the NFL draft in at least a decade. I'll call this an overreaction.

I'll call it an overreaction. We don't know what teams are going to do. I think by the time mid-April hits, we will. Really?

Yeah. Titans need a quarterback, but they could go free agency. They could take Abdul Carter.

They could take Travis Underwood. We don't know. We'll find out. Someone will have already made a trade. Is Myles Garrett getting moved?

I think that will already be done. If he does, then the Browns are taking Abdul, but if not, do they take a quarterback? What are the Giants going to do? You think by mid-April, we still won't have anybody trading up for the first overall pick, and we're wondering what the Titans are going to do. I think right now we don't have any of those answers. I don't think post-combine will have any of those answers.

It's going to at least be before the new league year. All I know is that the year Saquon got drafted, and we left the combine saying that's the clear first overall pick in the draft, and Baker Mayfield won. Which we did not know even while we were in Dallas. That was like a day before that. Correct. And it was a surprise. Yes, that was a surprise.

Those are rare. That's why I'm sitting here saying overreaction that by the time mid-April hits, this will all be. Trust me, I would love to go on the air. By mid-April, we'll know who the top three is? Is that what you're saying? We'll know the top three mid-April? We will know.

I will say this. We will know who's drafting first overall, and if it's the Titans, they're not going to go quarterback. I think we'll know that.

Okay. And I think we'll know what the Browns are thinking based on Myles Garrett already being elsewhere. I mean, if Myles Garrett gets traded, it's for sure Abdul Carter, because they have to replace that position.

These are correct. And then we'll have to figure out who the Giants are taking. That might be the question mark. Which quarterback are the Giants interested in? And then what happens at four for you?

What do you do there? Certainly, if you're the Raiders, by the way, how wild would it be? Tom Brady trading with the Patriots?

Yes, sir. Tom Brady's first draft as the owner. Pardon me. I know Mark Davis is the main owner. Rich.

Minority. Tom owns between five and 10%. Got it. But his involvement, that the first thing is he and Pete Carroll trade with the Patriots. That would be absolutely wild.

Trust me, I would have a meal with that on draft night. Yeah, of course. It's going to be fun. I'll just call this an overreaction. Okay. That's it.

Beautiful. Fun stuff. Overreaction Monday in the books. If you are listening to this prior to Monday's program, the flagship show, Mike Mayock, Albert Breer on that show, and Gary Bettman, the NHL commissioner. And then the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jeannie Buss, will be on the show Tuesday. And then I will be in the combine embrace for the rest of the week. Susie will be in the chair with the rest of you guys.

But I'll be zooming in every now and then. And then overreaction Monday back in your ear gate. If that's the way you take this show in through the Cumulus podcast network in the Rich Eisen podcast network or our YouTube channel, youtube.com slash Rich Eisen show. We went over 900,000 subscribers over the weekend. Everyone will be back on Monday with a fresh new one of these to react or overreact to the actual scouting combine, which will be in the books for Chris. I'm rich. Adios, everybody.
