It's always the beginning until it's the end. Dude is a winner. Live from The Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. The Philadelphia Eagles laid the wood to the Kansas City Chiefs. Today's guest, Eagles cornerback Cooper DeGene, senior writer for the MMQB, Albert Breer, ESPN NBA reporter Dave McMenamin.
And now, it's The Rich Eisen. That's right. Yes.
Could you imagine if I did that for all three hours? That's all I said was that's right. Yes. Yeah. You gotta do it like Marv at least.
Yes. Carlos 844204 Rich. Hey everybody.
Welcome to this edition of The Rich Eisen Show. We're live in Los Angeles, California. We're here. We're here.
You're there. We're here in the Los Angeles studios on the Roku Sports Channel 12 to 3 Eastern every day. We love being there. We love being on the Infinity Sports Network coast to coast. 120 radio affiliates and growing Sirius XM Channel 375 Odyssey app. Our podcast, the overreaction Monday pod fresh off of the Super Bowl is just one day old. Guess what? The takes are still fresh. Suzy Schuster, Amy Trask, What the Football with Jim Nantz, who has called more Patrick Mahomes games than any other human being on the planet, will be remarking on the latest one in which the Philadelphia Eagles took care of business significantly, as we all know.
That will be in your ear gate or on our YouTube channel for your consumption later on. Good to see you over there, Chris Brockman. How are you, sir?
Rich, I'm great. What's up, man? Hey, who's that guy? Who's that guy? Fresh back from New Orleans.
Oh, you pay for that hat? Definitely not. This is definitely several fifty nine on Fox. OK, very good. Mike, what's up, man? You're rocking. I missed you guys.
I really did say that. You know, I appreciate it. Oh, cool to see you.
Yeah. Good to see you, T.J. Jefferson. How are you? I'm swell. How are you guys doing? I'm great. Good to see you, Mike.
Good to see you. Luca's at Los Angelino. We'll talk about that with Dave McMenamin. Dave McMenamin of the worldwide leader in sports.
We'll be joining us. He was at the Luca Lebron. La Palooza last night and and they took care of the Utah Jazz were like the Washington generals in that situation.
And and the Lakers treated them as such. He's also an Eagles fan. Ah, McMenamin is. Yes. OK. And you know that because you guys went to college together.
You know that. Very good. So Dave will join us in our three. Breer Brea is back from New Orleans.
And Cooper Dajean is our first guest. That's exciting. Yes. Very good. What's happening over there? We're good. Is everything good over there, Mike?
No, it's T.J. doing too much. I clicked on Luca Doncic's video. Someone said our clip made Luca's video that he posted last night. So I just sat up some money. Give a look at that.
Did it? I'm looking at it now. Well, take your time. I got three hours, you know.
So we've been around this block a few times. And the Tuesday after the Super Bowl is the day to ask two questions. Number one.
Now what? Well, it's now two hundred and five days until next. But who's counting? Who's counting? You know, and, you know, Sly Stallone, I'm sure will be there. And Bradley Cooper will be there. And Jake Tapper. They'll all be there. They'll all be there.
The Lombardi Trophy will be the opening night. So now what? And the way you also fill the now what is this question. Can you do it again? Can you do it again? Are you equipped to do it again?
And on this very day to ask this question now, is it too soon? Of course it is. But you're already beginning to see what might cause an issue potentially down the road. Because as we speak right here, it does appear that whatever might have been attempted to run this S back with their offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, he's going to be the next head coach in the New Orleans Saints. And they're finalizing deals, crossing T's, dotting I's, handing out commas. Whatever they're doing, the Saints are going to get their man in Kellen Moore, which means yet another new offensive coordinator for Jalen Hurts.
I mean, think about it, man. Different offensive coordinators at Alabama. Then he goes to Oklahoma.
Had Lincoln Riley there. Then he goes to the pros. There's Doug Peterson.
Poof. There goes Doug Peterson. Three years after winning a Super Bowl. In comes Nick Sirianni. He's calling plays. Well, no, he's not calling plays anymore. Shane Steichen calling plays. Then Shane. Poof.
Then in comes a whole other set of circumstances and yada, yada, yada. But can they do it again? Who is coming back? Well, you take a look at their free agents. Notable free agents include Zach Bond. You heard of him? Yep.
He's going to get paid. Oren Burks, who filled in quite capably once Nicobe Dean went down, right? Josh Sweat and Milton Williams, who only represent four and a half of the six sacks of Super Bowl 59. Josh Sweat's going to look good in New England. OK. Let's see if BG wants to run it back. Brandon Graham.
Or he just wants to ride off into the sunset off a dub in the Super Bowl. Makai Becton. Hey Jets fans, Makai Becton has a ring.
And you don't. Kenny Pickett took a knee Steelers fans. Victory formation Kenny Pickett.
My goodness. Kenneth Gainwell, Isaiah Rogers and Navante Maddox. That's about it. So they're not going to, you know, they're not going to lose anybody that big here, right? I mean, there are some names that they use to win, but we'll see how Roseman can work his magic. And then you take a look at who's going to beat him.
Who's going to beat this team filled with young studs all over the place? And Jalen Hurts now with a ring. And A.J. Brown and his book in his ring. And Devontae Smith and his Heisman Trophy in his ring. And Dallas Goddard with his stiff arm in his ring. And that offensive line with their 350 pounds in their rings. And Jalen Carter in his ring and Nolan Smith in his ring.
Cooper DeGene in his ring. I mean, who's going to stop him? Well, the idea would be who does the league think maybe? And I'm not saying that because of anything stupid. I'm just saying is that they're going to have the first say as to who might be a team to watch. Because they're going to have their choice of a ton of highly interesting. Opponents to place in Philadelphia on opening night, 205 days, right from now, 205 days.
Very good. It's any of the division opponents. You know, do they dare put Washington in there? An NFC championship game rematch? I don't think they're going to go divisional rival. I don't think it's going to be Dallas off the bat either. Okay.
How about the Bears potentially in their first go round with Ben Johnson? That sounds fun. I know, but it's also a bit dicey. Whose house? Put a pin in that one. Okay. Denver going there.
I like that too. It would be fascinating. Sean Payton's second season with Bo Nix and who else have they brought in? If they bring in a, and they've got the defensive player of the year, reigning defensive player of the year in Patrick Sertan. And if, if they had somebody big, if they had a big piece free agent, they might be the ones that they throw out there on opening night as a, an interesting, hey, Denver in the same way that we knighted the Lions a couple of years ago.
And everyone's thinking, really? Are you going to go ahead and put the Lions out there in Kansas City on an opening night? Right. The league was like, yep. And you know what the Lions did? Lions type stuff with Dan Campbell, which is why I think that's who they're sending to. Oh, you do.
Philadelphia to open the season. Oh yeah, man. But that's another opening night. That's what two out of three years for them.
Well, I understand that. And the Lions might be like kind of what gives, or they'll be just like, let's, you know, anytime, anywhere. That's what we were all about. And the whole country will be tuning in to see what a lot of people thought was going to be the NFC championship game this year. And the Lions are eager to serve notice that yes, the Eagles did win it out of our conference, but it's still us that's the team to beat. And nobody believes in us. We lost both our coordinators, just like Philadelphia did a couple of years ago.
We're not going to fall in the same pitfall. I kind of dig that as an opening night game. And then you have to see who else is coming out of the NFC North as a possibility to knock off the Eagles. Just I'm talking about within their own conference here. Their division rivals, with all due respect to Dallas, I need to see how they're going to be reconstituted for Brian Schottenheimer before I start putting them above the commanders within their own division. As certainly an opportunity to knock off the Eagles the way that they are playing football. Because I do proffered later on in this overreaction Monday on a Tuesday, you will ask me in an overreaction Monday on a Tuesday subject matter is fill in the blank from the AFC, not name the Chiefs would have given the Eagles a better game in the Super Bowl.
And we'll discuss that later on. But I'm just talking about with I know right within the conference right now. I'm going to give you a team that's on this mix. I don't think they're going to put them there to start the season. I don't think so.
But it's something to keep an eye on. Which team? And this is for this upcoming season.
Because it's never too early because it's never too early. You know what now? Which team came closest to beating the Philadelphia Eagles in the playoffs in retrospect of their evisceration of the Chiefs, 50-burgering of the commanders, and wiping out of the Packers in the opening round of this playoffs? It was the Los Angeles Rams. And you could say the elements got to the Rams. Think about the Kyron Williams fumble and the Stafford, the little way the ball just popped out of his hands because of the cold, the wet, the snow. And despite all that, after Saquon ran yet another home run ball in on them in the end zone.
Down two scores, they still had an opportunity on the cusp of the red zone in a snowstorm. The Los Angeles Rams had a shot on third down to win this game down by six. And Jalen Carter blew up the final two plays. And then after Jalen Carter handled the Rams, Jalen Hurts handled the commanders and the Chiefs. And the two Jalens with Saquon and that defense took care of everybody else. But which team came closest to the Eagles in the playoffs?
It was the Los Angeles Rams. And I understand some folks are wondering, why give up Cooper Cup? That one I can't answer.
And it's interesting, I'm seeing a Matthew Stafford commercial on one of our competitors right now as I bring this up. That one I think is a no brainer. That one is just going to get handled. Because why in the world would you not run it back with him? I'd be shocked if whatever contractual standoff might be out there right now in a business posturing on both sides.
Because the clock's not even close to striking midnight for both of these sides on this subject matter. Why would you put yourself in the mosh pit with the Jets and the Raiders and the Giants and anybody else who might be looking for a quarterback this year in a draft market for quarterbacks and a free agent market for quarterbacks that would keep me up at night if I had to go get one right now to win? If I was a quarterback needy team, I'll tell you that. Why would you willingly put yourself in that mix when Matthew Stafford's sitting here in Los Angeles?
And you can run this thing back. And you can maybe add some offensive linemen before the Chiefs add offensive linemen. And maybe you can add another weapon piece later in the draft like Lesney does all the time with Kyron Williams and Puka Nakua. Could you imagine they go and strike it rich like that in the draft like they've struck it rich in the draft when they stopped effing all their picks? I know we talk about Howie Roseman all the time, deservedly so, as one of the best GMs, but Les, man, he always hits home runs in the draft. Always. And he always, he does have that patriot way, for the lack of a better phrase here, of looking at a guy and saying, we're going to part ways earlier than the rest of the world thinks it's suitable to part ways. And that might be what's happening with Cooper Co. Maybe.
I don't know. He's owed a lot of money too. Maybe the Rams came as close as anybody to the Eagles. And they have the same package that could have been rolled downhill at Mahomes too.
With a bunch of young bucks who are just out of their gourd. Jared Verst probably would have game wrecked the Super Bowl. Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Jared Verst. So I'm just throwing that out there as a possible eye on things for the Eagles. But they are set. I mean, you know, losing their offensive coordinator is one thing. They're going to have to go out there and Harris is going to have to do it again.
But let's just run it back. Offensive line. Saquon.
Same weapons. Hertz. Coach. Defense. Fangio.
Big Dom. You know, get the gang back together. They're a young team with now all the confidence in the world. Thrilled to have the targets on their backs with the rest of the league.
Roll it downhill again. And Saquon might be right. They're starting their own dynasty. Never know. Because they just came up with one of the biggest beat downs in the history of the Super Bowl.
And that's a fact. And I know it was only 18 points at the end, but they just smoked the show. It was 40 to 6.
They smoked the show on Sunday. 844-204-rich number to dial. We've got the play of the week. We've got overreaction Monday on a Tuesday.

Not bad for the Iowa Hawkeye who is now soaring as an eagle in the National Football League fresh off his birthday pick six on the Rich Eisen Show next. Back here on the Rich Eisen Show, we'll get to Cooper DeGene as soon as we're back with the radio audience in about two minutes time right here, so we're one whole big happy streaming family. The Saturday night of the Super Bowl, you know what I was doing? Influencing.
Influencing. Yeah, well, I mean, I was hosting the pregame of the YouTube influencers flag football game. And I was hosting it with Jason Kelsey. And as soon as it was over, I said to Jason, you know, no one can ever take this away from us.
But I never thought that if we ever got to work together, the first time would be doing the pregame of the influencer flag football game. And I'm like, let's take a picture. And he goes, let's do it. And this is the photograph that we took to commemorate the moment.
That was it. He's like, yeah. The one and only Jason freaking Kelsey, just the best, the best of the best of the best of the best. Folks, I just got to say, everything that you see on television or everything that you think you think he is, is absolutely the case.
The man does not have an ungenuine bone in his body. Fantastic. Yeah. I saw him late on Wednesday. I was up on the rooftop there with Jake and Kelsey, Kelsey walks in and they see he had two beers in each hand, no sleeves, fanny pack. He had to like put them in his pocket so he could shake my hand. Right.
Who told us that somebody, they drank a beer from his pocket. Somebody told me that. Oh yeah. Yeah. That's right. On our set.
On our set. Yeah. Who was that? Somebody said that. Yeah.
Was it Greg Olsen said that he flipped him? Somebody said- Seth Rollins, I think. Seth Rollins. Seth Rollins. Yeah.
That's right. He just pulled the beer out of his pocket. Out of his pocket. And I'm like, front or back pocket. I mean, that's an important pocket to know, right?
Yeah. When you're drinking a beer straight from the pocket, but it is Jason Kelsey's. He'll crack it and drink it. Back on the Rich Eisen Show radio network, I'm sitting at the Rich Eisen Show desk, furnished by Grainger. With supplies and solutions for every industry, Grainger has the right product for you.
Call clickrainger.com or just stop by. He had the play of the Super Bowl in my estimation, which means it's got to be the play of the week brought to you by Sleep Number here on the Rich Eisen Show. Back goes Mahomes. He's rushing.
He's looking. It's intercepted. It's intercepted. Running with the football to the 25, down the front side is Dejean. And Dejean is in for a touchdown. Happy birthday Cooper Dejean. Cooper Dejean with a pick for a touchdown. A pick six in the Super Bowl on your birthday.
That is right. Happy 22nd birthday to Cooper Dejean. And part of his birthday gift is to appear on the Rich Eisen Show a couple of days after being a Super Bowl champion. So happy birthday Cooper Dejean. Good to see you, sir. Thank you. Thanks for having me.
You got it. So just hearing that back. What goes through your mind when you hear that pick six back, man? It's crazy.
It's crazy. It still doesn't feel real to me that that happened, but I'm just incredibly grateful to be a part of this group, this defense and what we've been able to accomplish all year. I couldn't have done it without those guys up front and all of us in the back end just working together like we have all year to make that play possible. Well, I mean, it's very kind and telling of you that you talk about your teammates here in such an incredible individual achievement in such a spot. Walk me through that moment from snap to touchdown, Cooper.
Yeah. So, I mean, we were playing zone. Obviously, I was just dropped in the coverage, dropping into my zone. Zach Bond ran through with the guy to the flat and allowed me to fall back inside and pick off the crosser that I was coming across from the opposite side. I don't think if I didn't pick it, I think Q might have picked it off too, but it just fell right into my lap. Kai had to catch it.
I've dropped a couple this season, so luckily I caught that one and found the quickest path I could to the end zone. Brother, I mean, you're playing on your birthday in the Super Bowl, man. You know, a kid born in South Dakota, you know, raised in, if I'm not mistaken, Odebolt, Iowa. Is that how you pronounce it? Did I say it correctly? Right? Yeah.
Okay, great. And Patrick Mahomes thrown pass is spinning towards you in the Super Bowl. Is it slow motion time? Does that happen?
It's like the Matrix? Like, what is it? What happened? I mean, that didn't even cross my mind. I just saw the ball coming to me, and the first thing on my mind was just to catch it, just to catch it. And then, you know, when I caught it, all I thought about was going to try to find a way to the end zone.
Luckily, I got some blocks out there from the big guys and was able to find my way in there. And then that moment right there where you're celebrating with your teammates, what was that like for you, Cooper? It was awesome. It was awesome. I had so much excitement. I was running around like I was a little kid. I didn't have any celebrations planned or anything like that. I just celebrated with my teammates. It was awesome. You know, I was out of breath once I got to the sideline because I had so much excitement.
I had to catch my breath because we had to go right back out there. Yeah, that's right. Exactly. Most important question about it. Now, where is the football? Where is it? Hopefully one of our equipment guys has it. I gave it to one of our equipment guys. They usually take good care of it and hopefully it'll find its way back to my locker. If it's in big Dom's lockbox, I think it's good.
I think you're fine. You know, I'm sure it is. And that'll go where? Like where's that going, Cooper? Where does that go? That's a good question. I don't know.
I could probably put it up in a nice little case somewhere in my place or back home. I haven't really thought that far. Okay. Very good.
I know you're just living it day by day, moment by moment right now. I get it. Cooper DeGene here on the Rich Eisen Show from the Philadelphia Eagles, the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. You made a conscious choice of gear to show up to the game in. Is this your high school letterman jacket, Cooper? That is.
That is right there. O-A-B-C-I-G High School, Class of 2021. I just thought on the biggest stage, why not represent where I'm from, a place that's molded me into the person I am today. I grew up in a small town, always had the dream of playing on the big stage, playing in the NFL.
Always watched sports growing up and it's something I had to work for coming from a small town and luckily my parents, they taught me how to work for those things and if I have dreams, they allowed me to chase them and I'm grateful for that and it's helped me get to this point. Yeah. What's the population of your hometown? How many people in there?
I think it's just under 1,000. So what got you ready for the big lights, man, because you seem to be real comfortable in it. I got to be honest. I mean, I think that's just how I've always been, I think.
I try not to let the moment get too big, try to stay even keeled the whole time. I played in a couple of state championships in high school, Big Ten championships in college, big games in college. I feel like I always had that calming type presence. It's allowed me to go out there and play to the best of my ability, one snap at a time. Cooper DeGene here on the Rich Eisen Show. How did you get comfortable so fast in the NFL? Who helped?
What happened? Walk me through that process, Cooper. Yeah. I think it's a lot of the guys that we have in our locker room, the older guys, the veterans in our DB room, Slay, Reed, Seedy, Avante Maddox, those guys just helping me and Q grow ever since we got there. They really never treated us like rookies. They always allowed us to speak freely and ask questions, talk about things in the meeting room, which helped us play confident. The things we learned from those veteran guys on the field helped us a lot as well. The coaches behind the scenes, our DB coach, me and Q met with him at least three times a week just going over game plan stuff and different things we might see, watching stuff from around the league, just trying to give ourselves that confidence to go out there that we've seen everything on film and we're ready for it all when we step on that field. And the fact that you had another rookie go through it with you too, right? And Quinon Mitchell's presence, what about that relationship, camaraderie, friendly competition?
What's the description here, Cooper? I think we grew really close. We have a really good friendship over our time ever since we got here. We've always just wanted to learn together. We're always watching film together, doing extra work together. Just us wanting to help this team win and luckily we both got our shot to go out there and try and make an impact. Q started from week one and I got to watch him while I was playing special teams, start on the defense. And he gave me confidence to go out there when I got my shot to play confident and understand that I can play at this level and I'm just grateful that I got to come in and learn with a guy like him.
And then there's an old war horse who's your DC man in Vic Fangio. You're already smiling. Can you give me a great story as to how he welcomed you, got you ready, maybe coached you hard? I'll give you the floor on anything on that front, Cooper. Yeah, I think he coaches everybody in our defensive room hard. Never really smiles a whole bunch. I've seen him smile a couple of times when we won the NFC championship and obviously when we won the Super Bowl, but I just loved learning from him this whole season. What he's brought to our room, he talks about toughness and tackling and physicality every single day in our meetings and that's what our defense did all year when we flew around to the ball. I think it's a lot of credit to him and the way he coaches us. Yeah, I think there might be some through lines from Iowa, right, to Philadelphia in that regard? Seriously.
Like, you know, Farrance getting you ready, the type of style of play, the hard coaching, the hitting people, the physical nature. Am I wrong? Am I onto something here? No, you're absolutely right.
Absolutely right. You know, going to the University of Iowa, you know, you talk about physical football. That's where it's played at.
The University of Iowa, under Coach Farrance, in all three phases, from special teams, offense, to defense, and then getting to learn from Coach Parker at the University of Iowa and what he taught me, and our whole defense really just the physicality of the game. We were hitting every single day in practice. Everybody's running the ball.
If you weren't running the ball, you'd hear about it in the film room or out at practice. You know, and they preach perfection. They wanted us to be perfect in everything that we did out on that football field, from practice to the games, you know, and I think it's prepared me really well for this moment. Yeah, and then there's also the heart of it, too, man.
One of my favorite moments in sports is stopping to wave at the kids in the children's hospital looking into the stadium. That's the stuff. Absolutely. That's the stuff, man. Absolutely.
It's amazing. Do you have a moment with that or just any good memories for that sort of stuff? Yeah, I think, you know, just any time you think about those moments or, you know, even when I was in college, just the emotion, you know, I remember my last game at Iowa, last home game, I wasn't playing, but I was on the sideline just looking up there and, you know, tears rolling down my face, just thinking about that and, you know, what those kids mean to our football team. You know, we have a kid catching every week from the hospital and guys going in there and seeing the kids and hanging out, just trying to put a smile on their face, you know, because we see, you know, what they go through in their battles and how strong those kids are in that hospital. You know, it gives us that extra strength, you know, I think out there on that field in Kinnick Stadium with them watching over us.
And what does Sirianni do that we don't know? There's so much from the outside of talk coming in, but how did he get you to the spot where that hat is on your head right now, Cooper Dejeane? Man, I think since day one, he's, you know, he's been the same guy every single day. You know, he comes in, coaches with passion. Some people like him, some people don't like him.
That's okay. He doesn't care. He's going to be the same guy he's always been, you know, preaches the details of the game of football from tackling to taking care of the ball, everything, you know, within the game. You know, he preaches it, you know, and I think that's helped our team, you know, play so well down the stretch, you know, obviously we got off to a little rocky start, but, you know, I don't think his confidence in us ever wavered and our confidence in ourselves ever wavered, you know, because of our head coach and what he brings to the facility every single day and his passion and just his drive for the love of the game and, you know, it helps us all the time. And who, before I let you go, who spoke to the team before you went out on the field in New Orleans on Sunday night?
It's usually BG. BG said a couple of words, but, you know, Jalen Carter actually stepped up and he said a few words prior to going out on the field, just talking about, you know, how this is our last opportunity, you know, why not leave it all on the field and, you know, telling us that he's given us everything he's got and, you know, he expects us to do the same and, you know, I think we went out and did that on Sunday night. So the Jalen who spoke to the team before the game was Carter, not Hertz, is what you're saying? Yes.
Yes. And what did that mean for you, being a rookie, seeing a second year guy out there, you know, follow up BG, the OG, and go out there? Yeah, it was really cool. It was really cool.
You know, just, he did it last week in the NFC championship game as well, just seeing a guy like him who's growing as a leader in his second year and who plays with the ton of passion and is just such a great football player, you know, just seeing him step up and hear him what he has to say, it gets you ready to go, gets you, you know, wants you, makes you want to give everybody all you got. All right. Well, you ready for a parade, Cooper? You ready for... Can't wait. Can't wait.
Can't be crazy. I was about to say, have you gotten any sort of heads up about what's to come? Has anybody kind of prepped you about what this is going to be? No heads up.
No heads up, really. But I've seen, you know, the videos of Broad Street after the NFC championship game and after we won the Super Bowl. So I imagine it's going to be, it's going to be quite the scene in Philadelphia on Friday.
It shall be lit, no question about that. And what an incredible way for you to celebrate your birthday. I think we got a shot of you with a cake right there. What cake was that? Was that like a celebration cake? Do I see like confetti in there or something like that?
It was, I believe it was the guys on ESPN on the set there. They brought me in, say, Quanta cake, and I was just eating it, walking around the stadium after the game. It was pretty good cake. It was pretty good cake. That's awesome. You know, man, what a life.
What a life. What if we had told that kid maybe playing basketball, playing football in his backyard, you know, back there in Iowa, that this is what's happening. This is what would happen as a rookie in the NFL. What would that kid have said, Cooper? He'd be ecstatic. He'd be ecstatic. He'd be really happy, really excited if he knew that, you know, one day he'd grow up to play in the NFL and play for this organization and play in the Super Bowl on your birthday, let alone score a touchdown. Pick six in.
In the Super Bowl. Yeah. You know, it's pretty awesome.
Yeah. And then, you know, then parade it up and then go about your business again. Are you going to bring the Lombardi to Odebolt?
You're going to bring the trophy back home? Like, I don't know. Is that allowed? I don't know.
Well, I mean, Cooper, it might not be allowed, but it may be part and parcel of your new standing within, you know, pick sixing in the Super Bowl. You might be able to ask, you know, hey, what do you say? Can I, can I get it for a day? You know, that'd be pretty cool. That'd be pretty cool.
How do you do that? How would Odebolt Iowa welcome Big Dom? How would Big Dom look in Iowa, you know, guarding the trophy, Cooper?
Let's go. He'd definitely stand out. He'd definitely stand out amongst the small crowd in Odebolt, Iowa. Yeah. Somebody would probably try to get him on their wrestling team, I bet. Yeah. Yeah. They probably would.
They probably would. He'd have a scholarship offer by the end of the day. Hey Cooper, congratulations on everything that just happened to you from, from, you know, jump to this current moment and everything in your career. And it's a pleasure to say hello to you after such a momentous occasion. So briefly enjoy the parade and look for more of my invitations and hopefully you say yes to coming back on. Absolutely. Thank you for having me. I appreciate it.
You bet. A Super Bowl 59 champion and one of only two humans to ever score a defensive touchdown on his birthday in the Super Bowl. Cooper DeGene. Fantastic. Man.

Because I don't want to get him in trouble. No, I'm whizwit out. I'm not an onions guy, so whizwit out. Okay. Do you ask somebody from Western PA, Central PA that question or it doesn't matter? About the, that's not a, that's not really a thing for you going that way. Okay.
That's more of a Philly thing. Got it. Yeah.

Have you ever spotted McDonald's hot crispy fries right as they're being scooped into the carton and time just stands still. Are you surprised the Giants let you walk Saquon Barkley? Um, I feel like, uh, you know, during the time leading up to the negotiations before I hit for agency, uh, I didn't really hear from them. Um, you know, leading up to that time, uh, so I kinda had the idea of what was going to happen.
So obviously everyone got to see hard knocks. Uh, I wasn't really surprised by that. Um, but I look at it as a blessing. I'm in a new chapter. I'm thankful, uh, you know, for all those guys over there in New York for the six years that I had there, um, learned a lot for like, I won't be the player I am today or the man I am today without my time there. And now I'm in a new chapter and I'm super excited about it and blessed with this opportunity and focused on taking advantage of the opportunity I have there and off to a great start and a data be consistent. That's my whole mindset for this whole season is can I, how consistent can I be?
Um, and that starts, uh, you know, getting ready for week two, not to equate myself with you at all. We don't have the same quads just as a, for instance, but, um, you know, I spent seven years at ESPN before going to NFL network and ESPN was my identity professionally, right? Like they gave me my start, they drafted me, if you will.
Right. And, and, and, but they let me walk, they let me walk to another spot and, you know, it's a chip. It's still a chip on this.
I'm 22 years now at NFL network. It's still a chip for me, but I was still stunned, you know, and it, it, it, it, it definitely surprised me. Um, and I'm wondering if you have, if that leaves a chip with you even within a, but trust me, everything's worked out for me. I'm very happy with everything that has worked out with the opportunity I was given to be let walk, but I'm wondering if you have a chip on that.
I think, I think that's a great question and no one ever presented that question to me. Um, and I would agree it does leave a chip on your shoulder, but I always have a chip on my shoulder. Uh, no matter what, uh, I feel like that God's blessed me with a tremendous talent and I want to go out there and, and, and try to be one of the best romances to play the game.
Um, I studied all the greats and you know, the same study, the grace has become greater. So did it leave a little chip on my shoulder? Did it hurt a little bit? Of course, but I am thankful for the opportunity.
And sometimes, you know, sometimes they say the grass ain't nowhere greener, but look at them right here. My family's happy. I'm happy.
Uh, you know, I'm smiling more, um, just everything about me is, you know, it's trending upward. So, uh, I'm just super blessed with the opportunity, but chip is on my shoulder. Not just because of the giants, let me walk just because there's something that I want to do. I'm on a mission and I want to accomplish it. Um, and, you know, that starts, like I say, continue to go back to being consistent and getting ready for week two.
You said on a mission, what is your mission Saquon Barkley? Be consistent, be consistent, um, every day, uh, someone challenged me to see how consistent I can be, um, always been a very constant person, but how consistent, how consistent can I be? And that's my mindset every little day, every day, come in 1% and get better and improve. And, um, you know, I feel like when I have that mindset, uh, when I look back on the end of the season, I'll be, I'll be happy with how things played off and, uh, can confirm by the end of the season, uh, he is happy the way things played out. It's amazing.
Looking back on stuff sometimes, isn't it? Yeah. That was after he came back from Brazil prior to the Monday night game, they lost to Atlanta where he dropped the pass. Unbelievable. And then they lost one more time before the buy. Yeah, they were.
And then after that, one more time before the super bowl, two and two, that's it back on the rich eyes and show radio network here on the Roku sports channel live stream. It's not Jay. Wow. No, no, no.
Wow. That's what you get, Mike. That's what you get. That's what you get.
When you tap out for as long as you tap down. I'm sorry. No, Tom.
You helped us make a point internally. No, that's okay. You said it. No, no, no, no.
You said it. Tom. Tom's phone line just dropped.
No, no, no, no, no, no. Tom. I would never do that.
Let's keep every hands 10 on 2 and your phone off the, the, the drop button. What's up, Tom? Okay.
I have a situation that requires the expertise of RAS Consulting. Oh, okay. Very good. Forces Unite. What do we have? Okay. So two weeks ago, I called the best sports entertainment show in the country, uh, with season stats for explosive runs by the three Buffalo Bills backs, uh, in order to support the criticism that James Cook was underutilized in the ASU championship.
Okay. So I put my AirPods in and multi-passed my way from the afternoon that included a trip to the pharmacy. Uh, where I put the similar scripts, they call me by my first name when I walk in.
It's almost like Norman with cheers. So I'm at the counter with the line behind me and the pharmacist gathers my order when I hear you say, let's go to time in Delaware. And this is where I need, uh, RAS Consulting, uh, to help me out here because at this point, I'm guessing you guys would advise me to step out of line and discuss my quote with you guys. Might be right in that.
Well interesting choice here, Tom. Um, so how many more people were behind you? Oh, there's like four people behind me.
Four people. Wait a minute. Did you need to get your medication on the spot? Like were you feeling under the weather and you needed to get started towards feeling better? Oh, no, no, no.
These are regular medications I take and that's what I went to do. I went, I went to raise my hand, my, my finger and say like, wait, I was going to step out of line and, but, and I went back and listen, there's 10 seconds of dead air except for beep, beep because she starts to ring my order in. Okay. All right, Tom. Um, interesting.
Um, no, you should talk to me. Okay. So Anthony scans the first script and I had two choices, either a hang up or a go ahead with the call. So I decided to stay with the call, rattle off stats for the three box and I concluded the bill.
I concluded the bill had two explosive weapons. The chiefs had limited Jim Kelly and Buffalo music on their own. I was so much generalized. I called Josh Allen, Jim Kelly, a little old, but I wrapped up the phone call and the transaction at the same time and the pharmacist, not really, I was talking to him and he said, wow, very impressive. Tom and Tom in Delaware is the new and thanks for the call, Tom. Um, I do remember that cause I was like, did he just say Jim Kelly?
I said, interesting. He is now, uh, he's now the Jalen hurts of, uh, pharmacy goers. Yeah.
Yeah. Listen, let me just, let me just put it out there for everybody. If you are online waiting for your medication and you need to take your meds, don't talk to us. Just tell Adam in the back, you know, Adam can handle it. Don't hang up on me. Don't hang up on me.
We're reasonable people. There's the one thing that I know I consulted my doctor and it is not right for me is dead air. Dead air is terrible for me. Yeah.
And there's no medication for it. 10 seconds of dead air. Hey Mike, how was lady Gaga? Really good. Oh really? I didn't go to see, Oh, you weren't in the crowd because at the open of the super bowl, it looked like everybody from Fox was there. It's just like the entire street was with Fox people, but they might even have invited Shep Smith back. That's how many people were there. I mean, like that's how many people were there info on when they filmed that. Like every human they might've been there. Like I don't know who else, but you weren't, you didn't get the invite rich Mike rich.
It's called working rich. Oh no, but she sounded great. I thought you definitely were working the boards for lady Gaga. Not at all.
Not at all. Those are professionals. I'm not a professional. Okay.
I'm a semi-professional. Is that, and you were not there because Jamie, the mixer that mixed the game and Mike, it sounded great. It was a great broadcast guys.
Mike stock pregame guys, great broadcast game guys. It was amazing. What did you think of the new score?
Bug? I didn't like that. I see.
I like it. I don't understand why, like why television networks that host the super, but that broadcast change it, why does the NFL tell them that you must change your graphics? It's kind of one of those things.
I don't get it. Debut it for the super bowl. I don't get it because I'm, I'm used to watching the game the way it should be. And instead now it just adds to the sort of other world watching this game because it was smaller. It's not as big. It's not small. It was huge.
It was floating and blocky. Here's the thing. What's, what's the thing doesn't exist without Fox creating that thing and putting it in there. What the box? Yeah. And keeping it up there.
We all know like want to do it. Fox box, Fox box. I mean, it's called the Fox box for a reason. And in saying that people were ripping it apart on Twitter. I'm like, you guys don't realize you will complain that like, and people that were complaining, they created that they could do whatever they want.
It's like, they're like the goat. It was, it was translucent too. You could see behind it was, I liked it, but I think the older one was too big. Like when, when people would score and they do all the animation, it did. It did.
It does. It was the broadcast was, was, oh, I thought you were talking about the score. Were you not invited to gaga because you got caught trying to sneak the rich eyes and show flag onto the field during the halftime. Oh God. Did you see that?
Now? It sounded amazing. They, Jamie does a great job.
The gaming. I mean, those guys all welcome back, Mike. I just, you know, we, we, we missed you. Glad to see you got a free hat, you know, LAX still free at your luggage is still at the airport.
Yes. Oh my God. I got to go right after the show and pick it up. But it was, you missed your chance to get a selfie with gaga again, rich. How many Superbowls can I show you up and it would be great if I had another one right now from this past one, but I was not invited to that show you up.
I can show you up right now. Mike. And I have something in common from the field, from the Superbowl. You guys don't have confetti from the field. From which, which, which Superbowl?
This Superbowl. Oh, I'm sending it to my friend Debbie, whose father is in on his death bed. I'm sorry to hear that.
Big eels fan that I got a couple of that I took a little, I got a couple bags. That's very kind of you. That's cool.
Okay. So you went on the field post after, yes, I worked the whole, I'm sure you did. I'm sure you did.
I'm sure you did because it was such a long post game for them to just hand off the trophy, say three words. And then here comes the floor. Honestly, I, I, I, I just watched that stuff, dude, you know, we used to stay in two hours after the game.
Please, please. And do hours. And at the end of the day, I do a perfect show. You say something, you say something, you say something, you say something. Here's the floor. The floor is yours, Rob Lowe. I liked our NFL public posts, our NFL network posts.
Great. Cause you never knew what network guys, those network guys, we were on the air for five hours. I look over to my left and the Fox set is still empty.
There still wasn't a soul on it. We're there for five hours. There was such a funny moment where just we kick off our five of our coverage right on game day morning. And I kind of lost it a little bit at one point because it was, it was our five of our coverage and Sarah Walsh take it away. She's at the chief's hotel and her first words are the chiefs are two hours away from getting on the bus and Mooch went like this, Oh, like that next to me, it was like a gut punch. We all have the same reaction like, Oh, five hours and it's another two till we get a player in here. And I looked over to my left, the Fox set was empty. ESPN had already left, you know, and we're like, Oh, okay.
So give me an X factor. That's you know, you're not thinking of you eight out, you were eight hours, right? It was eight and a half, but we had to pack up after seven and a half. We had to get off the field.
Yeah. So that's, so we were done after seven and a half, but there was, you know, Chris Rose and the rest of the NFL network, we took it another hour elsewhere, but yeah, man. So I'm sure you had a long day, but you weren't with us, pal, rich. I go like this, man. You weren't around with us. You got, I, I mixed those shows. You worked a fader and then you handed the network audience off to Rob Lowe and you were out the gate Rob Lowe wealth building expert, candy Valentino paves the path to success.
