Learn more at americanexpress.com slash Amex Business. What is your mission, Saquon Barkley? Be consistent. This is the Rich Eisen Show. Touchdown, Barkley! There it is. 23-yard explosion. Live from the Rich Eisen Show studio in Los Angeles. When I look back on the end of the season, I'll be happy with how things played off. Barkley across the 30.
25, 20, 15, 10. Good boy! Today's guests, NFL Network insider Tom Felicero, Texans running back Joe Mixon, comedian Jeff Dunham. And now it's Rich Eisen. That's right. Welcome to this edition of the Rich Eisen Show live on the Roku Sports Channel. And this Rich Eisen Show terrestrial radio affiliate and Sirius XM and Odyssey and TuneIn. We're unavoidable.
Basically is what I'm saying. 844-204-RICH is the number to dial to connect with us because we are communicative people. And we want to hang with you. We want to talk with you. We'd like for you to hang with us over the next three hours. Joe Mixon of the Houston Texans is going to be joining us.
He's playing in the final game of week 11 that kicked off last night right here on the Roku portal through Prime Video's broadcast. We also have got Tom Felicero joining us in hour number two. And the comedian Jeff Dunham will be here in studio in hour number three to help us laugh our way into the weekend filled with college football and obviously the NBA Cup. And tonight, Mike Tyson and Jake Paul will try and block out the sunlight and hit one another. And that'll be on Netflix.
And again, you can see that right here on Roku. Good to see you over there, Chris Brocken. What's going on, brother? Ah, Rich, you know, I'm excited to watch an old man do it tonight. I'm so pumped for Mike. He looks great. He's got the underwear back, TJ.
Why are you referencing TJ when he's talking about having the underwear back? I was just bringing him in. We were talking about it pre-show.
Well, we've got more real estate to talk about it later, so we'll do that. I'm pumped. I'm great to see you. What's up, man? Good to see you, Jay Feli. How are you?
Good to see you. TJ Jefferson, candles lit. No candle right now. Oh, you don't have any candles. Oh, my goodness.
Oh, my goodness. We got it for it. Well, and Carl Anthony Townes Eagles balloons losing air, but that's not a metaphor for the team that brought this to TJ Jefferson's front door. Listen, folks, the Philadelphia Eagles coming off of their bye in week five have not lost since coming off their bye in week five. And as the Lions haven't lost since week two, losing it home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and taking the driver's seat.
See what I did? The Detroit driver's seat. I'm just on fire. We're just starting, folks. That the Lions have taken the driver's seat position, pole position for that one seat in the NFC, clearly the class of the NFC, and waiting to see who's going to actually join the Lions in that fight.
Green Bay had a shot before its bye, but the Lions slapped them around like Mike Tyson at a Jake Paul press conference. Look at you. Come on, this is Rich Eisen right here, guys. Oh, man. I'm on fire. Master class this morning. And?
A lyrical lexicon right here. You know, looking over in the NFC West and your higher register with the Cardinals and maybe the Niners get healthy. Christian McCaffrey's back. Falcons were putting some wins together and then they go to New Orleans and they got Valdez Scantling.
And we're waiting for another one to just throw their hat in the ring. The Vikings right had that right there in front of them when the Lions went into their house and they lost that one. You don't want to lose division games at home. That's my long winded set up for saying there is now somebody sitting shotgun to the Lions in that car, racing for the one seat in the NFC, and it's the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles defense is really cooking, and I'm starting with them first, because that's part of the reason why we were talking about a two and two team not being all of that. Because Saquon was doing Saquon things in their two and two start, and so was Jalen Hurts. That defense was not doing what we've seen over the last few weeks. Jalen Carter on your screen.
G.A.M. Grown ass man. I mean, that fourth downplay where the commanders inexplicably went for it, instead of taking the field goal to go up one in the fourth quarter, he blew that thing straight up right from the middle. And Zach Bond, who leaped on the scene in week one in Brazil by coming to the Eagles and going all over the lot. He had 14 combined tackles last night.
Nicobe Dean, kid from Georgia. Eagles fans have been waiting to see what he can do. Picked off Trevor Lawrence to stick aside a Jaguar threat a couple of weeks ago. And last night, 10 tackles combined. Reed Blankenship with an interception and 10 tackles combined.
I do have to, though, talk about the kids in the secondary. That Cooper DeGene has really helped solidify things. But there is a star in the making. And I believe the defensive rookie of the year resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This kid, Quinon Mitchell, OK, 22nd overall, Eagles grab him and they had a choice of any corner. No corners had gone by this point in the draft in Detroit.
Terry and Arnold went to Detroit after him. But this kid, Quinon Mitchell, let me do the math for you here. And I shouldn't be doing math on live TV.
I should have done it beforehand, but I'll do it. It's very easy. 20 targets. That's all his men in coverage have received since the buy. You look at Quinon Mitchell's stat line, it's clean.
There's hardly a damn thing on it. Yeah, I heard a stat last night that Terry McCorran has been dominating. 20 routes run, zero targets. This kid is killing it. And that back end leads to the front end, and that's what Warren Sapp, what do we say?
Front end and back end doing it together. That's part of the reason why the Eagles have not lost and are doing what they're doing, because they kept Jayden Daniels and Terry McCorran down even when the offense, or at least they kept them within striking distance when the offense was struggling. In the wins the Eagles have had on offense, it's a game where either Hertz is doing it or Saquon is doing it. There are games where they do it together, but there are games when the offense is not clicking and Saquon saves the day. And last night was one of those moments, because Jake Elliott was missing kicks and extra points all over the spot, all over the lot. The Eagles were doing their damn thing on Jayden Daniels, despite one touchdown drive that looked very nice in the first half. And then the fourth quarter hits. And Saquon, number 26, is like, I got this. Could have had three touchdowns, ran it down to the one. Prime Video's coverage was fun. T-Man was all over that. One of my favorite producers in the business with Al and Kirk and the gang, they had a nice shot of him smiling because he knew when he was down at the one, this was Jaylen Hertz's tush-push touchdown.
He wasn't getting it. But don't worry, Saquon had more left in him. You know what's a great way to not have a problem installing in the red zone?
You know what's a great way to do that? When you can run through the red zone in its entirety. When you don't deal with the red zone. Normally that, in the past, certainly in the Super Bowl year that the Eagles had a couple years ago, that was just throw it up to A.J.
Brown or Devante Smith. Now it's hand it to Saquon. And he'll just take it in from there. So after that fourth down attempt that the commanders went kablooey on, instead of taking a one-point lead, the Eagles get the ball back. And in five plays, 74 yards, marched down the field. Saquon capped it off with a 23-yard run. Jayden Daniels gets the ball back, an uncharacteristic interception, but you can give that to the Eagles defense. And then two plays later, Saquon rips off a 39-yarder.
This guy has to be in the MVP conversation. He is this year's McCaffrey. And we were saying that prior to the season. Can he be the Eagles' McCaffrey? Which is taking a team that had Super Bowl aspirations. Also, part of the reason why is they've been to the Super Bowl before. And then you add a dynamic multiple threat out of the backfield in the prime of his career to that mix.
And let's see how it can be supercharged. And Saquon is supercharging the Philadelphia Eagles. Period.
End of story. I know this is a quarterback-driven league. It's a quarterback award. Last year, McCaffrey cracked the top five. Well, you should have won last year.
You could even make that case, sir. And Saquon, you've got to do that here. Last night, they weren't moving it.
They weren't scoring it. Saquon's like, I've got it. And that's not just the only time this year he's done that. 146 rush yards, two rushing touchdowns, 52 in the air as well. And the key is, is what he's doing in the second half. The money half.
In the second half for overtime in 2024, Saquon is averaging 73.8 yards rushing after halftime. You know who's done that in the last 30 seasons? I'll give you a hint.
It's a hard ball. Oh. No body. 7.2 yards per carry after halftime. You know who's done that in the last 30 seasons, minimum 100 carries?
Nobody. He's doing stuff we haven't seen in three decades. Saquon, after the game, talking about second half success last night. We just kept trusting it. I know I sound like a broken record, but that's really what it was. We kept trusting it. We made some checks. And we were just, a lot of those runs, you know, when we go back and we were just one away. Whether it's one block, whether it's one read, or I might have been a little too tight, or I could have hit it outside. They did a really good job, too.
I want to give credit where credit needs to be due. Washington came out with a really great game plan. But that's the beauty of football. We can stop us for 20-something carries, but we rip off two long ones when it matters most. The stats look pretty good, and most times you get a win.
It's just, I was talking to Susie this morning about this game. She calls him, he's the Michael B. Jordan of the Philadelphia Eagles. He just looks like, he's got the movie star quality. He's got the it quality, you know?
And he's just likable, hitch in the mouth, excellent at everything. He's the MVP of the Philadelphia Eagles. He's not going to win league MVP, Rich.
Too bad. He should be in that mix. He's got to be. Nah, he's not. He's 60-1. He's so far down. Don't get on it. He can win Offensive Player of the Year.
Oh. Well, I mean, that's a Kenry and him are going to be neck and neck. And now, because we'll see what Derrick Henry does the rest of this year, too. But he's unbelievable.
Now then, let's hit one last thing before we take our first break. And get to Joe Mixon, by the way, of the Houston Texans. Another guy who switched teams at the running back position. And is doing well with his new team. Anytime Saquon does something like this. And again, it's his third game of 100 or more rush yards and two or more rushing touchdowns in 2024.
It's his third game. The only Philadelphia Eagle who's had more such games in a season was Steve Van Buren in 1945 when he had four. Steve Van Buren, you could visit his bust in Canton, Ohio today if you wish, if you're in the Indian neighborhood. The Van Buren boys. Dude, he's doing stuff the Eagles haven't seen, you know, since Yalta. Yalta? Yeah.
I just went there. And anytime, and it's like, who saw this coming, right? With him doing this with the Eagles? Everybody. Right.
Let me answer that. Everybody saw this coming. Stevie Wonder saw it coming. It was his first career win against the team coached by Dan Quinn as either a head coach or a defensive coordinator.
He lost in his rookie season to Atlanta and then every single time Quinn was coordinating against him for the Cowboys. So, anytime Saquon has a game like this, certainly for this year, the Giants are going to catch a stray every single time. And they're like, probably, can we turn the page here? Can we turn it? We've turned the page. We've got a pretty nice kid in Tyrone Tracy Jr. You know, but can we turn the page here?
And the answer to that question, unfortunately, is no. No, you may not turn the page because he's doing it for your blood sport rival. We saw on the off season hard knocks, one of the owners of the Giants verbalizing, I will not be able to sleep if he goes to Philadelphia.
Well, he ain't sleeping much. We heard some of the conversations as to why the Giants felt Saquon was loseable and you're shaking your head as you watch that stuff. And then you see what he's doing for the Eagles who now have a two game lead in the loss column in division entering week 12, week dozen.
And then even when maybe it's not being brought up by the media, it interrupts the media having a conversation with Saquon Barkley during the prime video post game show on prime video on Roku headed. It was amazing. Last year it was, you know, a really good job. I'm going to stop you for a second. I'm going to let the crowd take this one. You guys listen at home. They are saying thank you Giants. I was after the game during the game. Micah Parsons just hopped on his phone and placed it squarely on the shoulders in East Rutherford, New Jersey. I blame the Giants.
He tweeted about his fellow Nittany line. All jokes aside, the Giants almost made his belief Saquon wasn't him anymore. That really says a lot. Daniel Jones was paid over Saquon.
He was worth more to their franchise. This really says a lot as Micah takes the hammer and hits it directly on the head because forget the hard knock stuff. I'll just say it one more time for everybody in the back.
No, no, just forget that stuff. The issue was two springs ago, two. Coming off of the playoff win, Daniel Jones did look terrific with Saquon. Then the Eagles curb stomped him out. The issue was paying Jones the long term deal over Saquon. I don't know what the holdup was with Saquon. They should have long termed him and franchised Daniel Jones. They would not be in this predicament coming off of that loss in Munich wondering why isn't Jones seeing the field still well enough after all these years at quarterback, so on and so forth. Because Giants fans will be like, you know, you mentioned this and they're all like, we wouldn't have been able to win with Saquon. You can't build around just that guy when the quarterback's not right. Correct. You're right. So then make the right decision when the door was sliding in such a way that you just have to make it work with Saquon Barkley. And I still do not get in this league with smart people and Joe Shane is one of the smart people.
You can't get to the position where you are without being smart. Although we still have the John Isaac drops in our archive about being the general manager in the New York Jets. Do not look for it, Jay, because I can't hear that man's voice right now. Thank you.
I would never find it. Okay, fine. So honestly, I understand what you're saying. Smart people in management.
I still don't get. When you look at Barkley's contract, it's three years, $37 million total. If he gets every penny from Philadelphia, it's $37 million, just $2 million and change above what Justin Jefferson will make in a single year. And Jacksonville's defense was able to either get in Sam Donald's face last week or cover Justin Jefferson well enough for four quarters where he was a non-factor. You know who's never a non-factor, a running back in the fourth quarter of Saquon Barkley's talent with an offensive lineup front. Jonathan Taylor, Derrick Henry, Joe Mixon, my God, why are we scrimping on these guys?
And then you pay some other position in one year as much as you're dragging yourself to come to grips with paying somebody over three. I feel better. Can I take a victory lap now on Daniel Jones or do you want me to wait till the break?
If it's a victory lap, is this a relay race where you're taking the baton from Joel Klatt and then running and finding Todd McShea and handing him that baton? I mean, I was team no pay. Just remember that. No, I understand what you're saying on that front. But giants are probably like, can we just move on again?
How can you move on? Look, the Eagles are eight and two and a large part of it. I gave you the defense. I gave you Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley.
Could you imagine if this is DeAndre Swift in the backfield right now with all due respect to him? I should have said that in advance because now I'm exposed. I'm now being disrespectful.
All due respect to Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott. You want to are they eight and two with those guys? No. Hell no. Hell no.
All right. Later on, we'll talk about the Commander's Night, but when we come back, we'll talk about the final game of week number 11. Pretty big game between between the Texans and the Dallas Cowboys.
Tom Pellicero also coming up, Joe Mixon. When we come back on the Rich Eisen Show. This episode is brought to you by Progressive Insurance. How did my gambit of trading away CJ Stroud and Justin Jefferson in my fantasy league for Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin go in their first game together on my fantasy team? Yeah. Not great. I don't know.
And by the way, here's here's a number. Jayden Daniels says his ribs aren't hurting him. Well, he's not telling the truth. He's not the same. Yeah. He's not the same.
I can feel it. It looks like he does. He's not rushing. He's rushing for half as many yards. Well, we'll talk about it later, I guess, but his passer ratings, they were all down ever since he took that one in the chops in week six, week seven, pardon me. Yeah, and then he got hit in the hand last night. He had a cut on his throwing hand. I mean, yeah, he was banged up pretty good. And he's got like a heating pad up here, right?
He's got the flak jacket. Well, they've got a bye in week 14, late bye. Home for Dallas, home for Tennessee, bye. That's good. They can get right. Yeah. Yeah. Their defense is playing pretty good.
We'll dive into the commanders a little bit later. Their defense is playing pretty good. And we have a little bit more real estate, as they say. And then the Dallas Cowboys will be taking on the Houston Texans, Sunday Night Football this week, just up the road.
Bengals and the Chargers, I've got my top five list of games that intrigued me the most from here on out. Tons of them. I left a lot on the cutting room floor for this one. So that's still to come.
What's more likely? We've got a Tom Pellicero and the comedian Jeff Dunham in studio as we reach the halfway point of our first hour. Call clickrainger.com or just stop by. Last couple of weeks haven't gone the Texans' way, and they're hoping that they can get right in a spot where lots of people have been getting right, AT&T Stadium in Dallas. And one of the bright spots for this team, certainly on offense, in his eighth year, but first with the Texans. Back here on the Rich Eisen Show running back, Joe Mixon, how you doing, Joe? Yes, sir. Good to see you too, man. I'm doing well, bro.
Just out here trying to grind to go get it. Look at you in year eight. Year eight, Joe. Pretty cool. Yeah. That was quick. It certainly does, and it certainly looks like you are very comfortable in this offensive system. I mean, clearly, if I'm just, he tells out of school, maybe the most consistent portion of this offense right now, what made you feel so clearly comfortable from the get-go here? Honestly, man, just the way that the players and coaches embrace me from top to bottom of the staff, bro, I mean, everybody's just been loving on me, doing whatever they can to do whatever I can to up my game, and I just think that everybody's been bought into what we've been doing, and I just try to do whatever we can to master the mundane for real. So can you give me an example of how they've made you feel that it's allowed you to really feel like you're part of the team from the get-go, Joe? I mean, just basically, as soon as I got up in here, everybody was just like, man, it's great to have you since day one, you know, slow is like, we're going to do whatever we can to put you in a great position to be successful. You know, for CJ being CJ, he was definitely super grateful to have me, and obviously I'm grateful to be with him as well. I mean, the way that he grinds and go to work each and every day, I think that he does a great job with how he attacks his work and preparation throughout the week, and it's been a hell of a thing to see, and obviously the receivers, you know, them guys all bought in into the pass game and obviously bought into the run game, and they've been a lot of reason why I'm successful with them and, you know, obviously the linemen and fullbacks and tight ends.
I mean, just think about it, Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, you, it looks like running backs can be franchise altering free agents too, Joe, go figure that at the running back position, right? No doubt, that's for damn sure. You know, because it seems that, you know, this year, you and the rest of your colleagues that I just mentioned have been kind of making a statement, I would say, to the rest of the NFL. Yeah, no doubt. I mean, it's been a great thing to see, you know, from team to team and obviously the guys that's been in the lead for, you know, quite some time. I think that Derrick, Saquon and Josh, them guys have been doing a hell of a job, and I think that they have in career years and it's a hell of a thing to see, I'm obviously one of their biggest fans and, you know, I just appreciate the way that they work and, you know, just love the fact that they've been successful. Were you surprised the Bengals let you go?
I mean, I was definitely surprised and shocked, but I mean, it is what it is, bro. I mean, I've been here and, like I said, they've embraced me since day one and I won't look back. I mean, I got a lot of great memories there and I'm super grateful for being a part of something that was special there. I mean, it was, we had some great years. We obviously had some down ones, but, you know, we built and the foundation that was laid out for them guys now, I mean, I'm just happy to be a part of a turnaround like that and unfortunately, you know, we didn't finish there and they have opportunity, but I mean, hey, I got an opportunity over here too, so we're trying to get it. No, and I know whenever I ask somebody, you know, of your stature or somebody in a position like you questions like that and it can be constituted that you're not happy where you are and obviously that's already been established that you are, but that said, you know, you put it all together and, you know, clearly you are an integral part of there. Is that part of a chip on your shoulder when you touch the ball for the Houston Texans, Joe?
Yeah, man. I mean, like I said, it was a hell of a run there and I'm definitely thankful that I was a part of, like I said, something special, but I mean, being here, man, I've been happy. I've been having fun. I've been doing all the things that I can to be a great teammate. I think that I'm a part of something special here in this locker room and what we're building, what D'Amico then put together, same with Nick. And I think that, you know, I'm just trying to do whatever I can, bro, to, you know, prove myself, you know, my worth and try to be the best teammate, you know, on the field. And whether it's vocally or just going out there and making a play, I'm out there with a chip on my shoulder and I'm trying to go get it. Joe Mixon here on the Rich Eisen Show. What is the mood of the team right now? What would you tell Texans fans?
Joe? I mean, it's, to be honest, man, it's great vibes. It's great vibes here. Obviously, we got seven more opportunities to go and, you know, I just been pretty much telling the guys, you got to play each play like it's your last because you're not guaranteed the Knicks. And I think that Guy's going to do a great job with going out there during adversity, you know, in a time like this, we've all been there before.
And at the end of the day, all you got to do is next one up. And, you know, we've got a great opportunity with the Dallas Cowboys, great football team, and we've got to go out there and give it our best shot. And so when you say great vibes, describe to me why you think that is, where that comes from.
Joe? I mean, I mean, honestly, it started with the players. Coming to work, wanting to go to work, having great mindset and attitude to how we're attacking the week. I mean, D'Amico coming in and our team meeting and, you know, the vibes just up.
He ready to roll. He's doing his thing. And the way that he leading his team, I think that it's a great thing. And the fact that I'm, you know, one of the leaders on the team and what I say in the locker room has been going a long way and guys are listening. They're bought in and like I said, we just going to do whatever we can to go out there and respond. And, you know, like I said, we seven more opportunities and we've got a great one in front of us, man. So he's got to go out there and take care of business. You've been, you've been receiving footballs from quarterbacks of all walks and, you know, obviously Joe Burrow being a pretty darn special one and you've got one in CJ Stroud as well.
Are there any similarities between the two that you would point to that you see? You're going, okay, that's, I've seen that before, Joe. Yeah, man. I think more so in critical moments. I think that the moment is never too big for them to, I definitely seen Joey be in live action and higher stakes. And I mean, as you seen, I believe last Thursday night, I mean, he put on the clinic, I think he had like four or five touchdowns and about like 400 yards with Chase. I didn't seen him many a times. I mean, them guys was down and when you, when he down, you can't never count them out because I think that the way when, when adversity hits him, I mean, he goes right through it and he never runs from it. He loved when, you know, his back against the wall. And one thing that I've always seen from him is when, when they're down to never out, you know what I'm saying? Now you're going to lead them. And I think that's the same thing with us over here with seven.
I mean, the way that them guys prepare each and every, every week that I see them guys in their mechanics and doing all the little things, I think that's what, you know, make them so special. I've got Joe Mixon here on the Rich Eisen show. So how many games have you played in Dallas college pros? How many times have you done that?
Joe handful, probably by like four or five. Okay. Is it special just in that respect? Just some history, you know, I mean, it's a hell of a hell of a scene over there. I've been over there in Jerry's world at the end of the day, like scenes, this is football, you know what I'm saying? We're going to go out there and obviously Monday night, it's a, it's a big one and everybody wants to see the Texans on how they're going to come out from last week. And I think that, like I said, it's a great way and great opportunity that we can go out there and respond and, you know, show people what we're about.
I mean, like I said, I keep, you know, harping on it. We got seven more opportunities and it's time to put our best foot forward out there going and trying to make this run to the playoffs. So I think it's a hell of a time right now where we can get hot. And if we can get hot, I think it's going to take us a hell of a long way, man. So we just got to take it one week at a time and keep attacking.
Has anybody figured out what size the moon is and where it might shine through that window at some point during the game? Joe, is anybody doing that over there? Not for real. I mean, this week we playing, I believe at like seven, seven 20. Oh, and I think that, I think that's not going to be down, but if you ever had one, we ever had a moment like this in AT&T stadium, man, I ain't never seen nothing like that. That looks crazy, right? It is kind of nuts, but so you've never been on the business end of that, that, uh, I mean, I ain't never seen something like that. No stadium. I'm going to be real.
And I didn't play it in a couple of domes and it's been some light, but I ain't never seen nothing like that. Okay. So what's your message to Texans fans that have seen, you know, uh, we saw what happened last year. Again, you weren't part of that team, but you know how special things were and that everybody's looking to see a big step forward, but the last month has been sort of anything. But what is your message on that front?
Joe? I mean, just obviously we going to go out there and, um, put on a show, try to do whatever we can to put it all on tape and really to go finish. I mean, when it comes down to it, um, I'm definitely a believer that, uh, fan support is everything. I mean, I'm a player that play off a high emotion off of, you know, the crowd and our home crowd. And I truly feel like they make a difference for us, you know, uh, whether we went in or, you know, we lose in and can rally back to try to go win.
I think that they make a hell of a difference and we got to go out there and play for obviously each other, but for them too. So, um, I, like I said, we got a few more opportunities to go out there and like I said, I felt like right now is a great opportunity to try to, you know, go ahead and make a run and get hot. I mean, obviously, um, when I was in Cincinnati, uh, we, I don't think we went over two games in a row and then we got hot at the right time and ended up going to the super bowl. And, um, unfortunately we lost it, but, uh, made a run in following year, you know, we started off, I believe on two got hot at the right time, ended up winning like 10 to 12 games in a row and, um, fell short in the AFC championship. But I mean, fans played a big role of it. And obviously the players, you know, we got to be bought into, uh, the game plan and executing for four quarters. And I think that right now more than ever, you know, we need that. So I'm just going to keep the vibes high, keep rolling and keep our guys ready.
And like I said, we just got to go out there and put our best foot forward. Joe Mixon, I always appreciate when you say yes to coming on this show, don't take it for granted. Um, throughout your eight years, uh, in the NFL, it's kind of crazy. Eight years.
No, it is. Hey man, any, anything for you, bro, if you ever need me, just give them a holler, I'll be there. I will do that. And I greatly appreciate it. Joe. Good luck on Monday night football and we'll chat down the road. Yes, sir. Appreciate you Rich. Thank you. Right back at you. We're in Texas for getting set to take on the Cowboys on Monday night football right here on the Rich Eisen show number of people that have beaten me in fantasy this year that I've interviewed professionally. I've lost track.
There's one of them. I'm playing against Joe this week. That's not good for you.
Nope. That's not good for you in real, in real football. Well, I have Joe in the Dillingham league, so you're okay. It's a win-win for you.
I mean, technically, no, it's not, but you know, I'll take solace. You need, you need higher draft choices. You need higher draft choices. You need to get gente. You need to make sure you get the kid from the blue turf. Okay. Sure.
We got a lot of holes on this team. Phone lines are lit, which delights me. We'll take some phone calls when we come back. 844-204-rich is the number to dial here on this busy What's More Likely Friday with Tom Pelosaro to give us all sorts of info on top of our two.

Yes. I mean, such a Jets fan that he has a Jets tattoo right here. Oh my gosh. When did he get that ink? Was he inspired by Richard Todd's play in the 70s? Was it Ray Lucas in the 90s that caused your dad to get that ink? What was it?
What was the story here? Big thing about my dad and being a Jets fan, and I was once a Jets fan, now definitely a Giants fan. 1969. I'm sorry. I grew up a Jets fan. You were so close.
Go on. 1969, the first AFC team on the Super Bowl, the year my dad was born, born in New York. Growing up, everyone loved the Giants, probably a little bit more. So he kind of just went the other way, being a Giants fan, he kind of passed it on to me.
So I grew up being a fan of Curtis Martin, Thomas Jones, Chad Pendleton, the Mark Stinches era with Rex Ryan and those guys. So I think he kind of got it probably maybe like when the Mark Stinches era was going on. I don't think he did it because of that.
Sure. He always had a passion. He always wanted to do it.
And one day he just made up his mind. He said, he's going to put a Jets tattoo right here. I don't know what I'm freaking out about more, the fact that you could be a Jet, you were living and dying with the Jets while I was living and dying with the Jets, or that your dad and I were born in the same year and you could be my son.
And I've got a 10, almost eight and a five at home, and this is not about me. It's about you, Seguin. So was your dad disappointed that the Jets didn't take you?
No. My dad was happy that, you know, he'd see his son living in his room. Or didn't get a chance to take you? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But he was happy, just like I'm saying, his son, he's him and my mother, very fortunate to have both parents in my life. You know, I've always went to them and told them what I want to do and what I'm passionate about. And they always give me great advice and try to show me the way of what I got to do to get to my dream and live out my dream.

Boom! Josh in Toronto has been hanging in since jump. First in, first up. What's up, Josh? Hey, Rich. You know, in August I called an hour early.
Today I called about 10 minutes early. I'm a lead pipe wielding professional. Out of order.
Learn and adapt. Okay. Okay. Rich, if you recall our conversation, I'm a big Packers fan. There's been a ton of bears talk on the rich eyes and show this week. It's a bit depressing. Come on.
This is the rich eyes and show, not the Adam rank show. All right. Oh my goodness. I figured we'd clear waves with some Packers talk and give you the other side of the story.
How does that sound? Josh, Josh, come on. Josh. Sorry.
That was funny. Come on. Come on, Josh. Seriously.
Yeah. Hey, Rich. I'm listening to the rich eyes. You know how I roll. Listen, Josh. I understand you up there in beautiful Toronto, Canada, sitting up there as a Packers fan water skiing behind your hall of fame quarterback yachts.
You go from one to the other, and now the other guy comes in and he wins a playoff game and you know, and then you sign them to a generationally enriching contract and you just don't deal with questions about whether quarterbacks are the guy or not. You haven't done that. How old are you, Josh? How old are you? I'm 32 years old. Your entire friggin life.
You haven't had to have. I was born in 1992. Your entire life. I was born in 1992.
The year that Fred Farve came. Okay. So you don't know from Lynn Dickey, Josh.
Okay. You don't know. Magic man.
Magic man. He doesn't know. Josh in Toronto doesn't know. So. I appreciate that.
I do want to talk about some of the trials and tribulations of the Packers season so far. Oh boy. Josh. Josh. Josh. You've got a coach of the year type guy who knows how to turn Malik Willis.
A straw into gold. You know, you've got, you've got, you've got a defense. You've got a defense that clearly has been fixed. You've got a, you know, you've got one of the best special teams coaches. Your question is, is your quarterback going to come through in the clutch now like he did last year? Is he healthy?
He got a great running back and Josh Jacobs, the bears have the first overall pick in the draft and surrounded him for success and wound up through 10 weeks firing the offensive coordinator. That's going to take up some oxygen in the room. You know? I appreciate that.
Roger. I just, you know, I listen every day. I needed to call in and get the other side of this matchup this week. You know, the Packers are coming off by, it's been an up and down, you know, we're six and three, but if you would've told me six and three after some of what we've gone through, you know, wow. Yeah, exactly.
And, and, and you read, you read my mind. I was going to, when I called in 22 or in August, I thought I kind of built a narrative around a Jordan love MVP run because we're about to hit this streak of primetime games here after the buy, right? We're a primetime like every week. However, I think even if Jordan replicates what he did last year, I think MVP is probably a far shot, but I do want to pound the table for what Matt LaFleur has done so far. And if they go on a primetime run and win some of these primetime games, I mean, Brockman can pull up the list from Nevada, right, and tell me where Matt LaFleur is, but I know he's not up there on the coach of the year rankings, Matt LaFleur needs more clout for coach of the year here.
He's done a wonderful job. And if we go on this run through primetime, Matt LaFleur coach of the year, give it to me, Rich. What do you mean if, because you predicted them, I have, because I'm a lead pipe wielding professional too, Josh, I have your, your win loss game right here in front of me. You had them six and three coming off of the bye.
And then you had them ripping off, you had them ripping off eight straight dubs to finish the season at 14 and three. So it starts with the bears this week, Rich, take care of the bears. 49ers come to town, you know, we'll have Burkhart, Tom Brady in the booth for that one. It's going to be a big game the following week. And Hey, I still have all the confidence in the world in my team.
I think the Packers go on a run here and you know, our true contender in the NFC. Josh. Thank you for the call.
Appreciate it. And for 26 to one coach of the year, where does that rank that even top five? No, no, no.
Not top five. Dan Campbell, Mike Tomlin. Guess what? Jay Harbaugh. He rips off eight in a row. Guess what? It'll happen.
He has the same odds as Sean Payton. Okay. Well, I mean, that's not okay.
I mean, the floor has done an incredible job at having six and three, a lot of good coaches this year, Linda and Melbourne, Kansas. Let's take her call. What's up, Linda. How are you? Hello, mr. You there, Linda. You there?
Yes. I'm here. How are you? Hello. Hello. Hello.
Yes. I just wanted to call and say thank you for having such a fantastic show. I'm a new subscriber fan. I enjoy your interview style. Your guys are such a great team to listen to. I don't understand everything.
I'm a cheap fan, but I did not know that much about football and I'm learning all the time. So I wanted just to say thank you. Okay. Well, you're welcome. First of all, and thank you for your kindness and for you to call in and say such nice things. You know, rich eyes and productions has a wing called the rich eyes and show consultant we're consultants. Can we help you with anything? No, no. Any questions?
Any concerns? Look up your past shows. I love the availability to rewatch a show in case I miss something or don't understand something. I could watch your shows over and over again to try and pick up on things. It's just amazing.
You have a great style. And like you mentioned with Shaq yesterday on the 14 people, you guys have that. Your interview with the young quarterback from Alabama, I believe. That was fun.
Jalen Milro. That was fun. Yes. That was nice.
Yes, not only with the football people, but with the celebrities. I look forward to all aspects of your shows. I just wanted to say thank you. I really do enjoy it.
Linda, you have made my, you've, you've turned on my heart light from the heartland there in Kansas. Thank you so much. I appreciate that. Appreciate that. And the caller makes a good point.
Thank you very much. I like rich eyes that I find them accessible. We are accessible.
Yeah. We're accessible. We're accessible. I know that now we're accessible. We're everywhere. On the Roku Sports Channel. Can't stop us.
The podcasts. Can only hope to contain us. Yeah.
Like DP would say. Oh, it's delightful. And more callers telling us how great we are. Please. Epic.
It makes us feel better about ourselves. Hey, it's Friday. Let's go. Yeah. That's very nice. Oh, that was nice. Phone lines are lit for people telling us how great we are. It's about us. It is about us. We're here for RAS Consulting. We're here. Yeah.
Linda's not going to get our Rome references. It's fine. But that's okay. That's okay. There's time. There's time. It wasn't built in a day.
Wasn't. Right? I know. It's burning. That's what I've heard. Is that right? Didn't know. Go figure that.
You know, sometimes I wonder. What's that? How's Juan Soto doing? He's going to look great in Boston.
Dude. Extended meeting with the Red Sox. What? I mean, did John Henry suddenly realize how rich he is and that he can spend money on his baseball team?
The other movie I watched after the Shawshank Redemption was The Town. Oh, okay. So did they prevent the robbery and just find they had more cash around? Is that what it was?
I have no idea. There's all these reports, though, that we're in on it. We're not a serious baseball team.
We haven't been since we traded Mookie Betts, but if this is true and we're actually for real in on Juan Soto, oh my. Don't let it happen. People. Dude. I'm going to be even more obnoxious.
If I'm John Henry and Juan Soto, if I'm if I'm John Henry and my good friend Tom Werner, who I'm staying away from on this, I can't call him like Tom. For real. Really? Really real.
Um, baby, I am absolutely spending on powerpointing all of that to jack up the price. Make the Yankees think that you're you have you have you have finally. Right. What? Oh, we're back. Maybe maybe they did go to the tree that red went to and found the money and found frame left them a billion dollars underneath that tree perhaps to pay for Juan Soto, Juan Z Watanayo Soto, right? They're going to go to the Soto Watanayo. I mean, come on. Is that what there is? They're going to go to Soto Watanayo. Now that's a dream. All right.
Finally, I finally came up with it. I don't know. I'm not keeping my hopes up. What's going on, man? You know, I'm I am I do sit around like, how's Juan doing? Is he happy?
How can we make him happier? I got to look up. Let me tell you something.
Twenty two. If the Steinbrenners lose Soto, I don't know what would be worse, losing him to the Mets or the Red Sox. It's it's the Red Sox.
You don't want us to have one. So what are you talking about? Well, I mean, that's one thing you'd see him now, what, nine times a year, wherever you play him, seeing him across town.
That's a different story. He's just sitting right there, you know, again, suddenly, suddenly the Mets aren't just relying on grimace. You think Garrett Whitlock is going to give up number twenty two for Juan Soto? What's the price?
What's the price tag on that? I mean, it's cute that you guys are going back and forth about this. I find that so sweet.
Since you have the richest guy who could just rip off, he'll just look in the ashtray. Let's just be honest here. Somebody turn over a couch. Let's get Juan Soto. You don't even have to move out the crib you're living in, Juan.
Just got to switch boroughs for work. Yeah, just go, just go tell Wags to take Soto out to, uh, one of those secret bars. Yeah. One of those bars teaching about a night on the pole, right? Wags.
Wags. Then this time, Willie Adames too. Or Yankees get Soto and then we'll take the polar bear from you too. Oh, jeez.
Yankees had one home run in the second half of the season from a first baseman. One. Wow.
So yeah, the polar bear fills a void. Tommy P coming up next on the Rich Eisen Show. Hey, it's Rich Eisen here. Join me and my compadre Chris Brockman every Monday on the overreaction Monday podcast. Rich, Jamis has taken the browse to the playoffs. Dude, why can't they win seven, eight games to finish the year? Why not? I'm not saying it's no why not, but this is a definitive statement that's clearly an overreaction and it's perfect fodder for a show like this one.
I appreciate you coming out of the gate hot. Come react or overreact with us. Overreaction Monday, wherever you listen. It's game over. It's game over, man.
