Do it.

So inclined, all excited about JJ McCarthy and Blake Corum scoring touchdowns. Although JJ won a game, Blake. Scored a touchdown, won a game. Balaka Karum, Balaka. At any rate, I'm not concerned about the Niners.

Yeah, they weren't going seven. I'm not. Come on, they're not going seventeen. You know, that said, you know, if you had told me certainly early in the season that the Niners would be undefeated going into Week Seven, wouldn't have been surprised about that either, right? Probably.

Would have been surprised that the Falcons would be the one to get them. Yeah.

Well, then you look and see, you know. The fact that they're visiting Atlanta, and you'd be like, "Okay, now I'm kind of buying that," because for whatever reason, Niners can't win there. Last coach to win a game for the Forty Nineers in Atlanta, I worked with yesterday's named Steve Mariucci. That's the last time it happened. That's how long it's been, because weird stuff seems to happen to him.

Christian McCaffrey left the game. Kalen Black, who by the way just dashed one up the middle to score a touchdown. Another time he goes right up the middle and he loses the football. And then weird stuff happens, like say Jordan Watkins coming up with a circus touchdown grab, crazy catch that's overruled on replay. I kind of thought he got his.

Foot, like the outside of his foot, I think before his shin did.

Well, I think they were saying he didn't complete the catch on the ground. Ball moved. Oh, as he landed, so it wasn't where his feet were.

Now, so that happened, and then they take it away, and the Niners wind up during all that turning it over on downs. And then things like you know multiple interceptions for a guy that hardly threw one all year goes down. You look at the Niners' second half possessions: interception, turnover on downs, touchdown, interception, fumble, and in between all that, Michael Penix throws for touchdowns.

So they couldn't get him down on the ground, which is wild because of two things: one, they had been getting quarterbacks down on the ground, and two, the coordinator of this defense, I imagine, really wanted to win this game. Raheem Morris going back to the spot where they're like, "Your services are no longer required here," which is a boon for the Forty Niners, but you know they really wanted to win that game. Weird things too, like you know, the Niners expecting to be allowed to substitute on defense, but they can't, and it costs them. And Kyle's going nuts on the sideline. McCaffrey does go in the blue tent.

They fumble it. They score one, but they the kid gives one away while he's in the blue tent. Comes out for that third quarter after he did start on a nice ten play drive to open the game, and it looked like the Niners were just going to come in and do their Niners thing without Mike Evans. Right, but you know Watkins looks like another one who's pretty darn good. They're going on a buy.

I don't know if Stribling's going to be back anytime soon. If he's expected to be, can they come off the buy and have Evans back healthy? You hear the words Achilles injury, it can kind of get you concerned. Yep. But they're on a buy, then they come back and they they they welcome in the Las Vegas Raiders.

They visit Dallas, which we're hoping for Dallas's sake, between now and then, can somehow straighten the ship. If not, the Niners are going to come into Dallas and do their usual. With all due respect, I mean, and then there's that game against Minnesota in Mexico City. That's a big one. Where we'll get a true measuring stick against the defense like that.

If you need a measuring stick for a team that's six and one, and then the one against Seattle, win that one, hold serve, and suddenly what happened last year is not going to happen again. Where Seattle's not going to come in your house and snatch the division and a one seat away from you, and then eventually go ahead and win a Super Bowl in the home of an NFC West team, which as you know is hosting. Along with our AFC West friends across the street, this year's Super Bowl. They do have both LA teams, including also a visit to the Giants and Kansas City. The one that's a home date against Philadelphia that's currently slated for Sunday night football.

I imagine could be flex because the Eagles at that point in time might be backing a U-Haul up.

So I'm not concerned about them. They should still be able to win enough games to win this division. Hold serve against Seattle at home. Win the games that you're supposed to win. Stay healthy, which I know is a large, tall order for them.

And rely on your quarterback, who just had an off day. One hundred percent. I think that's.

Sort of, you know how how we feel is like, man. We had the momentum, we were moving the ball well, feel like we're running the ball really well and stuff like that, offensively. And then all of a sudden, it's like a couple plays can, you know, make you feel like, dang, we're not doing our job and stuff. And obviously, that's the most important thing is protecting the football. This it's the number one thing really in our organization.

Like as an offense, it's all about the ball, protecting it. And so, you know, when we have those kind of costly mistakes, it does make you feel like, all right, we're not doing anything, we're not putting up points like we need to. But at the end of the day, we were moving the ball. We got to protect the ball through and through, and that starts with me at quarterback. Yeah, and the Falcons—they allowed a nine percent pressure rate.

That's their lowest in any game in four years. Wow, Penix is balling. He gets rid of he gets rid of it. He gets rid of it. And the whole the whole you know criticism of him.

You heard Aikman talk about it when they were on Monday Night a couple weeks ago. Is if. Primary receiver is not open. It's, it's, it's a wrap on the play or a trouble.

So, you know, they just couldn't get to him. And and this defense had improved in the pass rush, but they they they held Bijan to less than sixty receiving yards and sixty five rush yards. He didn't go off on him. Just come back healthy and start winning some games. And as far as Atlanta with the Bucks, eviscerating Carolina, just eviscerating them.

That I did not expect. Just destroyed them, smoked Carolina, and the Saints now dropping to two and five. Um, this division's wide open, and the Falcons can win it. This Kendall Daniels kid. That interception of Purdy that kind of flipped it.

You thought maybe Purdy could go down the field, score touchdown. They're going to go home with a winner. And this kid, Kendall Daniels, just jumped up and snagged it and took it the other way. And then when of all people on National Tight Ends Day, George Kittle down nine. I mean, this game was kind of a wrap.

You know, Bates punched it out, and you know who recovered it? Daniels. Have a day. First Falcons rookie with a pick and a fumble recovery in the same game since Brian Scott did it in 2003 at the Giants.

So, especially considering what happened, you know, the week before to him for him to make these plays, he got carted off. Yeah, so he that pick was sick, man. That was big play.

So, any given Sunday, the Falcons can beat. They've now beaten the Niners and the Packers. Yeah, you know, and then other times the Bears came in and just hit him in the mouth. They almost came back on it. Yeah, but that game was.

Look at their schedule. Just talk a little bit, Falcons, real quick before we move on. All right, at Tampa, let's go. Yeah, huge game. And then the in two weeks, that's my last two a.m.

wake up. Madrid, right? Yeah, against the Bengals. That's fun. Oh boy!

There is going to be a lot of fantasy footballers waking up early for that. I mean, honestly, Chase Higgins, Burrow, I am one of them. London Pits, Chase Brown, Bichon, yeah, yeah. Chase Brown, yep. Oof!

I don't know how many fantasy football players there are in Spain. And then they're home for Kansas City. Then a buy at Minnesota. Home for Detroit at Cleveland. I mean, that one where where Stefanski comes back in.

The way Cleveland's playing, their next few games are rough, tough. We'll see which one shows up. They're four, you know, they're three and four right now. Here's what I love: showing up the fact that normally we years ago we do these things. You get to Cleveland, and it's automatically like a write-off, right?

Like, yeah, right. When you're when you're playing the win-loss game, now it's like now we we can't do that, which is kind of dope, right? You got it. You got the Sean, the comeback kid. We had Todd Munken on the program Friday.

Todd, Todd.

Well, the final total was five S bombs and one F bomb, right? And then the F bomb was followed up with him. I am sorry for apologize for cursing on your show.

Sorry, four on your show. And then, and then, and then that's when after that the fifth S bomb hit, right? Yeah, he said another one.

Sorry, four on your show. I swear! I swear! I swore on your show. He's one on one, and he also said about how great is it to be a head coach in the NFL.

I get four times I've got a chance to hand out game balls.

Well, here came a fifth, and it didn't look like the fifth was going to happen when the Titans jumped up on the on the Browns by two scores, right? Fourteen nothing. Tony Pollard, I think probably. Your fantasy leader on benches across the country because Cooper was lamenting that he's been playing Tony Pollard every week. He's finally had enough with the Browns coming in, and the guy scores three times.

Yeah, I hung in there with Pollard too, and by the second touch, now I was like, oh, thank goodness! I don't know what it is. It's it's like Tebow time, Watson time, man. Fifth game-winning drive in the fourth quarter and overtime this season. The third quarterback in the Super Bowl era to lead a game-winning drive in that instance.

In each of his team's first five wins of a season, joining Matthew Stafford of the 2016 Lions and the 1990 Cowboys quarterback by Troy Aikman. That's what he's done. They passed their win total from all last year. He passed Baker of 2018 match to pardon me. He passed Baker Brian Hoyer of 2014 and Tim Couch of 2002 for the most game winning drives by a Browns quarterback in a season this century.

That's what's happened. Wow! I don't know what it is with this team, and they're so young. Concepcion's good. Denzel Boston's good.

Harold Fannin's good. Quinshon Judkins, who scored, is good. They've drafted really well the last few years. They're good, man. They got good players who are now learning how to win behind a head coach who's just rough.

He's just amazing.

Well, I mean, again, what he's what's is there a setup for this one? I I don't know. Oh yeah, their their Browns fans were all over apparently Nissan Stadium. For in Tennessee, hit it. How about our crowd?

I mean, how about the how about the all the Browns fans? For God's sakes, it felt like our side of the stands were all Browns fan. Am I wrong? It just felt like our side was was all Browns fans, and that was so cool. That was so cool.

I mean, it's that helped. That that was critically important in terms of getting us through the beginning of the game, and we weren't playing nearly as well, and.

So that was awesome. Yeah, and him saying on Friday's show, like, hey, maybe twenty years from now we're going to look back and they're going to talk about how we want to do it like those Browns did. That Browns team that turned it all around. The Browns are going to Browns is now a different phrase. It's a long way to go between now and then.

Obviously, five and two because they beat in the Steelers. They're five and two is good enough to be in first place. And next up is a visit to Pittsburgh, and you know the Steelers want a piece of the Browns. They want a piece of them. How many times have the Browns walked into the stadium with a target on their back?

It's been a while. You know what I mean? But that's what's happening now. The Steelers. That was a bad taste, right?

Didn't Jared Verse say that there was a lot of what talking or what? It's coming, and then there's if you pop it up one more time. There, let's just even say it's a tough spot to win. Five and three at New Orleans, home for Houston, which is now two and five, and. That will be a lit game with Deshaun Watson going back to the town that caused him to be suspended, and a bunch of fans livid anytime conversations like this come up.

Because I am just talking about Watson as a quarterback, not about as somebody that went through all of what he put people through in Houston. Then there is a buy. A ton of winnable games out there for the Cleveland Browns. Seven and three at the bye. Even if right, even if the bottom line is they've come up with two win streaks in the first seven games.

Lost one, three in a row. Lost one, two in a row. How they lose to the Jets, man? They're going to look back at that and absolutely kick themselves. I mean, rainstorm, high winds.

I mean, that seemed like that was a weather game that got them. But pardon me, that that that game is in Cleveland, not Houston. My bad. But still, yeah, all of all of this is going to come back up, and I hope he's ready for it, and the Browns are too. Five comeback wins.

Any time I I post about Deshaun Watson, it comes back with like. You got to talk about his past. That's a lot of the bots, but sure, I got okay. Yeah, they don't come across as bots to me. There's no Russian on the screen.

It doesn't have to be trust. Yeah, it can be anything. But they're they're they are they are five and two man, and Monkman is just I I love the guy. What a great chat. Yeah, seek it out for if you missed Friday's show, it's still it's still quite viable.

Yeah, for sure. You know. Man, oh man! All right, let's take a break here on the Rich Eisen show. Come back.

The Raiders apparently have a decision to make, and minds eye of a lot of people. That's the one at quarterback. Ram save their season. What else do we we have not talked about yet? Oh, Bengals and Ravens.

We haven't talked about that comeback. Joe Burrow has awoken.

I think Chris Brockman complaining because I realized he had an inactive player in his lineup against me. I said nothing about it. Guess what? I am going to go in and make the change right now. What change?

I am going to post facto it. Oh, what? What?

Okay. By the way, let him do it. He's still down by thirty. If he does that, where he's getting kicked out the league, I am the commissioner.

So what? If you feel that you can go and change something because you are the cousin, it's a bit. Are we not aware of what the government's doing right now? Exactly. The government, though, it's a little too on the nose.

Yeah.

That's all right. Saquon's getting forty tonight. Let's hope. By the way, that happened to me against you a couple years ago. I was up by a gajillion points, and then that Sunday night game against the Rams, and suddenly I am like, "What the heck was that?" I wasn't beating you anyway this week.

That was the Saquon Saquon factor. Yeah, we'll speak about the Rams in a second. Mike in upstate New York wants to join us right here. What's up, Mike? Where up there?

Hey, Rich. First time caller here. How you doing? Thank you for having me on the show. Where are you in upstate New York, man?

There's a ton of upstate. Give me a town. What do you got? I'm in between Albany and Saratoga, but I'm I'm I'm a diehard Jets fan, and I just want to say how I think Aaron Glenn is is a better number two, and he's not a good number one. Like I don't see the energy and the motivation in in the team that the talent that we have that we could be so much better.

Like, do you remember the movie with Whoopi Goldberg, Eddie, like? She she was a fan, and she did a better job coaching the team.

So I almost feel like I could do a better job than Aaron Glenn right now. Oh, really? Am I wrong, Mike? We've just met. I'm going to have to, even though I appreciate your moxie, disagree with you.

Oh, that I think Aaron Glenn is probably a better coach in the National Football League than Mike in Don't Peggett, upstate New York. You know what I mean? Like I, but I understand your frustration, though, pal. Do I ever? Understand?

Did I lose him? Did he hang up on all? I'm still here. Thought I might have lost you on the freeway. You know, you know, or the Causeway, you know that's what's tonight.

You know, it's an honor and privilege to be a coach in the NFL, and and I don't disagree, Rich. It's just I just don't see any energy in him or Gino, and this team could be performing so much better than they are right now. I I see energy from him, Mike, and I appreciate the call here. What you don't see from Aaron Glenn is any sort of. What's the proper words for it?

Grasp at clock management at the end of halves. It's it's mind boggling what you're watching at the end of first halves in particular. And I called one of those games against Denver, where it was just a mind-boggling use of timeouts, and to the point where our NFL Network's cameras—it was, I believe, Broncos and Jets—caught Garrett Wilson saying something coming off the field, like, "Hey, like, what was that?" I'm paraphrasing, and then comes the explanation after the game, and it strains, like, "Wait a minute, credibility." And as a fan, it's just like, how are we not grasping all this? Herm Edwards back in the day had a a coach named Dick Curl. I have to be very slow in enunciating that.

Hello. His nickname was was Father Time or Grandfather Clock because he brought him on to help him. Manage the clock to basically get in his ear. Like now's where you would call a timeout, or at least have somebody assist him on it. Can we get?

I don't know if he's still around anymore, but a 21st century version of that does it happen again against the Dolphins? You know, where he's like, "Yeah, you know, we—I thought we could get the ball back, so I didn't use my timeouts." And it's just like, but to get the ball back, you needed to use your timeouts. And then the Dolphins score at the end of the half. Malik Willis scores with hardly any time left. Touchdown!

They didn't settle for field goals. Then you are seeing Garrett Wilson barking on the sidelines with what appeared to be. At Geno Smith, yeah, he said it wasn't. No, I get it, and and and these are things too that wide receivers who are vocal on the sidelines and the cameras pick up on it are always viewed as disruptive. And sometimes it ain't that.

You know who led the league in that? Remember Dez Bryant used to lead the league. Oh, yeah.

Okay, oh, used to where? Oh, this is disrupt. This is disruptive, Dez. And you know, you saw some people talking, emoting. I get it.

I like this. And receivers are great—the loudest ones always, because they—they're the. I say it all the time. Yeah, they're the ones furthest away in proximity to the football. They got to talk to get it sometimes.

But that's the issue with Aaron Glenn, and now he's calling the plays defensively. You got to wonder: like, is he so locked in on trying to stop Malik Willis that somebody's not minding the the clock management store? And then you just got the embarrassment of being the first team to lose to a team that hadn't won yet, and it's a division game. Let me look this up too.

Well, Titans beat the Colts last week too, right?

So they they hadn't, and the the Chargers are now the last team, right?

So you're losing to a team that hadn't beat anyone yet. Yeah, it's basically what I was saying. If I didn't say it that way, yeah. The Jets have now lost eight straight in a row in division. That's the longest active streak.

They're one and four and one score games. The good news is, boy, do they have some talented young players. Mason Taylor scored, caught two touchdowns. Garrett's obviously talented. Omar Cooper, they got they got the Hoosier right.

He's good.

Okay, Braylon Allen. When Brees Hall was not was hurt again, he ran for a hundred yards. Gina was twenty three of thirty for two hundred eighty seven pass yards and three touchdowns. How did they lose it? How did they lose that game?

Certainly, when the defense has been balling out, so then that crumbled. But the clock management stuff and the fact that Aaron Glenn has asked about it and then gives answers that make you scratch your head—it's like what the hell.

So yeah, I mean, head coaches are are hired to maybe call one side of the ball. They're hired to change the culture. They're hired to keep people accountable, and they're hired at game management. Make the right calls, and certainly figure out the clock management. That has been a problem for Coach Glenn since jump.

So I don't know what the Jets plan to do, but they're, I mean, losing to the Dolphins too, man. There are a ton of people in South Florida who have a similar accent as you and I do, Mike. Who are probably like losing their minds from a Dolphin fan that's giving them crap today. Yep, Mike in Florida. Let's take his call.

What's up, Mike? Mick, pardon me. What's up, Mick? Hey, how you doing, Rich and the guys? What up, Mick?

Long time following everything, trying to get in, but I love you guys. There you go. I tried to rest and I watched the best.

Okay. Oh. But the Dolphins, y'all knew that they were going to be tough. They might go undefeated. They're not going defeated, but they're going to be competitive.

And even if they only win five games, there's going to be a lot of teams out there that say, "Hey, we got beat up." You know, they come back for the. Patriots that I hope Brockman's ready for, then your Detroit Lions that I hope Dan Campbell returns for and's ready for, and that's all. I don't care if we win five games. We're going to show some teams that we're ready to compete. That's all.

Hey, Ali Gordon has stepped into the fray. Have Halfley Friday. I think we should have Jeff Halfley Friday. Hey, listen, we love talking to him. And congratulations to him and the organization for winning their first and building it up the way that they want.

Ali Gordon's taking full advantage of H Chan being out, and. You know Willis is the first Miami player with the consecutive games of the passing and rushing touchdown. Last one was Jay Feedler in two thousand two. As my buddy Jay Feedler, yeah, buddy, I hear you, and he's he's my my fellow member. Willis is a beast.

I mean, he ran two touchdowns this year. That rocked into some guys on a goal line. He beat them up. Caleb Douglas had two receiving touchdowns.

So, hey, congrats, Mick. Go, go, Crow. You know, you got you got bragging rights on the Jets again. There you go. Let's make Florida right there.

Your brother, Caleb Douglas, with two scores. He's fast.

Okay, you going to get him for Jets fans next week, Chris? Sure, we got you.

Okay, no, no need to worry. For American-made floor liners and a cargo liner that laugh in the face of fall weather, visit WeatherTech.com today. Appreciate you people chiming in on the WeatherTech fan line. Love it. Um.

The Rams saved their season. Is that fair to say? Two and five with the with the Seahawks winning again. Two and five would have been one of them. Two and five.

You know what I mean? Like two and five would be a tough one. Yep. The entirety NFC North is above five hundred. Even if you think one team's making it out of the East and the South, two and five would still be a very tall order.

But. Man, did they come out with stones? When they got to feel really good about themselves up in Thousand Oaks today, because they were without a ton of people. We all know that they're without Devonte Adams for maybe the rest of the regular season. Trent McDuffy missed his second straight game with a groin injury.

Nate Landman, there, there, there, captain in the middle, right? He missed his first game since joining the team last year. With a concussion, Miles Garrett still on IR. He's returning to practice this week, apparently. Kobe Turner placed on IR Thursday.

Puna Ford's out for the season with a triceps injury. All of that, and Puka's questionable with a with a calf that had him out of the out of practice last week. But he plays, and voila! Don't turn it over. Don't have special teams mistakes, tackle, and run the football, and allow your all-world quarterback to pick the other team apart because your run game's working.

Right? Did I just basically say it? That's the recipe because you're so damn talented that you're able to beat down all these people and you know beat the Raiders by two scores. Kyron Williams, after asked. About why the offense is so out of rhythm after the loss to Arizona, and his answer is like, "Don't ask me.

I'm not in there enough." And they gave him the ball sixteen times for 99 yards and a score, and a long of 17. And then Blake Corum had 17 carries for 93 yards and a score, and a long of 17. As they became the first duo in Rams history, each with 75 rush yards and a rushing touchdown in multiple games together. Nobody's ever done that. I got to call up Marshall Faulk and say, "You and Trunk candidate didn't do that." Trunk candidate.

That's right. Good one. Puka had eight catches, sixty-eight yards, and a touchdown. And their nineteen tight ends did their did their jobs. Right.

Allen caught a couple touchdown passes. Higby made a nice big catch and a high ball from from. From Stafford on a third down, as the Raiders were beginning to start to close this game, because the Rams started to f around and neared that find out stage with some turnovers. Um, but Stafford, with the three touchdown passes in the first half, became the all time passing touchdown leader for the Rams. First guy to now be such for two franchises in his career.

How many? Two, he threw two hundred eighty-two touchdown passes for the Lions. That's two eighty-two. I said two, crazy. And Aaron Donald played a season high forty-six defensive snaps, so he's getting up to speed.

Get back healthy.

Next game is against the winless Chargers. Battle of all Los Angeles. Get back to five hundred. Go to Arizona. Exact your revenge.

You are in the bye week at five and four.

Now you are talking, right? Was they better get healthy? Because after that, what a stretch of games! The Wednesday before Thanksgiving against Green Bay with Bono and everyone else.

Now, right? Then the following week against Kansas City in Cede Stadium, with both teams playing on the Thanksgiving previous. That's a rare Thursday night football game where everybody comes in with a full complement of one week's rest. Then the visit to San Francisco. You know what they should do?

They should go up to San Francisco a week early. Stop it. You know why? Just to make up for acclimate, get acclimate, just to reacclimate. Yeah, reacclimate.

Just talk about. Oh, you want us to play San Francisco? You want us to come early?

So we're here for a week. That would be so fun. Would be and and Richard the King level of petty, but they're only being petty themselves. I understand. It's probably unnecessary to do, but that would be.

It's clowning themselves. Hey, hey, we came the day before, and look at us now. By the way, if they if they beat San Francisco in San Francisco, McVeigh should say that right off the bat and go. Nobody wants to know when we got here. Should get the hotel here yesterday next to the substation just to prove it's not.

You know what I mean? Yeah, but then ligaments. That's a niner problem. That's an NP. It's not an RP.

That's a niner problem. You don't want to risk ligaments, though, Chris.

So I mean, all right. Then after that, that's a tough. After that, the Rams. Have Dallas here. That'll be a game that TJ doesn't go to because he never leaves his house.

Because Mike won't take me into getting in and out of SoFi's all weekend. All wrong. Yeah, blah blah blah. But let me go to Clipper games. Just down the street, much smaller on the same street, the same parking problems.

I'll go to Clipper games. I gave up on them. Have you not? Have you forgotten? And then both games against Seattle, including the Christmas game.

And a visit to Tampa, which may not be as as easy as one would think, they might be back.

So you got the Rams there, man. Who's house? Rams. Listen, there's a path to them being above 500 at the buy, and then coming into that gauntlet, starting that at four and five because you went to two and five losing to Vegas. That's a that would be a massive problem.

They they they did what they had to do, and hopefully feeling good about themselves. Which is kind of crazy about a team that's the most loaded roster, but they're just think about if you took a snapshot of the Eagles and the Rams from Week Three, what that looks like now. Both of these teams, kind of crazy. We'll take a break, maybe sneak in one more phone call, and talk about the Vegas Raiders, what they're going to do moving forward. You know, signed Kirk Cousins. I called that a great move, a great move because that took the pressure off the Raiders of having to start the kid right from jump behind a newly revamped offensive line with some weaponry that was questionable. And he also could show Mendoza what it's like to be a professional, and also, um, clearly be an open book for the kid. And and he and and Mendoza, you could also see were cut from a very similar cloth in so many different ways, personality-wise, play style, the whole thing was just a great move. To the point, though, that everyone was saying it's a matter of when, not if.

Cousins would be tapped on the shoulder and say it's time for the rookie to get in there. And there was all like, "When's it going to happen? Week four, week five, week whatever." Now it's week seven into eight. After three weeks, it was not even part of the conversation because they won their first three games.

Now they've lost four in a row. They haven't won in a month. They haven't won in a month. Um. And it's not all Cousins's fault.

I mean, the guy has made some plays. Other times, not so much. But when a team needs a spark, regardless of the way they're playing on defense or what have you, it's always the quickest way to do it is to replace the quarterback. Certainly, when there's a first overall kid in waiting, and you're all sitting here saying it's inevitable, just do it now. And this was Clint Kubiak's response to a question along those lines after their fourth straight loss on Sunday.

Yeah, I think you know we have to go watch the film, and you know I think at this point we got you know we're thinking about everything, you know how to how to fix our problems, you know how to fix our issues in the red zone in the third quarter, and personnel scheme. You know we got to talk about all of it. The looking at everything, everybody's going to take a look at that and just throw the quarterback change into that box. That's usually what that means.

Well, it's just like you're not you're not saying yeah, we're not making that change. Kurt Warner keeps talking about you know, guys. We bring it up with him all the time. He got his he got his tap on the shoulder when the Giants were five and four after drafting Eli Manning.

So. It's been done before by a team above 500 to look at the locker room and go, "We're going with the kid." So it's not out of the realm for something like that to happen. He does, Kirk, lead the NFL in passing touchdowns with two more on Sunday, with 16. But he's only seven in the last four, after having nine over the first three. Trey Tucker's going off.

I wish I had played him in the guillotine. I'd be off the griddle right now instead of sweating something out tonight. Oh. Career high twelve targets, second game this year with a hundred receiving yards. I mean, Gentry caught one.

I mean, did you watch that game yesterday and say that it was an offensive problem? I mean, the Rams ran it down their throat. Yeah, they were a less than team, and the the Raiders. That thing was pretty much a wrap at halftime until it almost wasn't. But this is why you have Kirk Cousins because he's asked directly about his job being threatened by the kid and the coach, who's now said that they're open to all possibilities and ideas.

And here's his answer: You know, it's it's really the same every day that it was in March or April. I mean, nothing changes in the sense that if I'm If I'm not the best option, then I don't want to be out there either. I want our football team to have the best chance to win games. And if if the first OTA, if that had become apparent, I would have been the first one to say, "Yeah, you can't play me." So nothing changes, you know. And and you know the organization will do what they feel is best, but.

I I feel that you know Fernando's done a great job and has a bright future ahead, and I am going to try to go out there and play as well as I possibly can, help us win, and give him a great example to learn from until he does go out there eventually. Name me a more syllable for syllable, pitch perfect answer to that. That's all class, right? Which again, you know, would make if it wasn't that way. If he went in another direction or even twitched in that direction, it might make things even more awkward for the kid when they're sitting in the same quarterback room.

So, great answer, as you would say in Family Feud. Good answer.

Something we never said to Mike when we were in Atlanta. Celebrity.

So mean. Not lying. I don't know, man. Not lying. You look at their schedule.

I talked about an overreaction Monday. We can hit it here. I just don't think now is the time to do it. Four of their next five are on the road.

Okay, and I know that Malik Willis just won with the against the Jets. All right, and that defensively, you know they they didn't look. It was one of their worst games of the year. Um, but still, they've got some players on that team, and. That I I don't think right now, like hey you're in, would work.

Especially when their next games are at San Francisco. You just saw what Seattle did to a Mount Rushmore quarterback, and then they're at Denver and at Cleveland. That that ain't it. Then there's a buy with five games afterwards. Home for the Chargers.

Home for Denver. Home for Tennessee. At Arizona. At Kansas City. You want to play.

Mendoza, there. You also might be at a record that's going down. That makes it easier to to sell it to fans and veterans in the locker room. He wets his beak with five games. That makes sense.

There, a bye week to to ramp it up. But hey, Fernando, guess guess what? Teams three and four. We still have a flickering, flashing light. Let's go against you know.

Let's go. Let's throw you out there in New York City. Sure, fine. At San Francisco, home for Seattle. At Denver, at Cleveland.

After that, no thanks. I don't think that's the the best thing for the kid or the the franchise. Could he get in there and and swim in that deep end of the pool? He sure could. And now you've got yourself a winner, right?

Now you're feeling that good, and now he might actually be keeping your team afloat and your franchise afloat. Or he goes out there and he gets his. Hoosier handed to him, you know, and that's not helpful either. I mean, there, there. There's no correct answer.

Brock Purdy's first career start was against Tom Brady. I got it, but didn't have the college, but had to. But they were forced to go there. They wouldn't have gone there if it wasn't if they were forced to do it. Kirk Cousins still has some trade value right now.

You move him to a team that needs him, and you go with Mendoza. Who's hiring Kirk Cousins in the middle of the season? Don't tell me Minnesota either. Maybe Philadelphia also could use him if they think their season is still savable. And so then you've got Mendoza and Aiden O'Connell and more draft capital.

Away you go. Maybe you win a few games the rest of the year. Maybe you don't. Maybe you get number one and you get Jeremiah Smith. Stranger things have happened.

Oh, they've got a long way to go to be number one overall. They're only three games ahead of the Chargers. I think that's a tough one. Hey, if you start selling off cousins and other pieces, the star in. Frisco, Texas, is on line one for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Wouldn't you say? Ah, first of all, this should have been a Dundale Monday. Let's just. Osby doesn't want to go anywhere. One would think.

Well, you know, sometimes you just don't have that choice, Rich. You go where you sent, and this should have been done in June. Yeah, I just don't think it's going to happen. Just, I don't either, but you know. That wraps it up here on this edition of the Rich Eisen Show.
