Just like Carl in Antioch, Illinois has asked us to is tasking us for something. What's up, Carl? What's going on? Uh oh, Carl, you there? Oh, my goodness gracious.
Hello, hello. Hello, where where are you? I know Antioch's a large city, but I mean what's going on?
Sorry, man. Second, I'm a second time caller now. It's been since September. We've been able to speak. Ah, have you forgotten how to use your phone between September and now?
You know, it's just Cubs get opening day, so I get started a little early. Out of boy, hey, out of boy. What's up, Carl? So no, thank you so much. I wanted to share some uh some uh some hoops picks and some MLB picks.
But I also wanted to thank you very much. I don't know if you're not aware of this. I tried calling some time ago. You had your friend Hank Kazari on this show, and I listened to you guys, and it was a very good conversation. I loved it a lot.
And later that day, it inspired me to write a premise and a pilot for a TV show. And I finished the treatment, and I wrote the whole season and the first pilot, in the first episode, and a whole treatment. And I'm in the prod uh, the current. I'm currently shipping it and trying to get it pitched. And you guys inspired me to come up with that idea for that television show about a radio DJ that kind of falls on his luck.
He's a local legend. It's kind of PG-16. But I wanted to thank you for that because the ideas just came to me just from that one conversation. And I got a whole great series I'm trying to get out there and produce.
So if you know the Manning Brothers or something, you can hook it up. I'm looking for investors.
Okay, Carl.
Sounds good. What else you got? All right. Pete Alonzo is going to win the ALMVP and Picro Armstrong's going to win the NLMVP. I want to let you know to watch out for the TCU women's team to make a Final Four appearance.
Okay. And I hope you're ready for Arkansas versus Michigan State in the finals. This season in the tournament. Carl in Antioch, Illinois has come correct. Wow.
And I appreciate the call, Carl. Thanks for hopping on. And plus, Carl. Carl wants to produce television shows. He's a show about Del Tufo.
Is that what he should? Is that the DJ down on his life? Is that what that was? That's kind of what I heard.
Okay. All right. All right, Del Tufo is.
Well, I mean, his life rights are very expensive. DTF New Year. In his own mind. DTF New Jersey. What's more expensive?
His life rights or his choppers? I don't know. His veneers. Chompers. Also, if you want to parlay Pete Alonzo and Pete Crow Armstrong to both win MVPs.
We're parlaying it. What do we got? TJ plus $158,000. That guy really just wanted to hurt my soul, didn't he? First of all, PCA.
PCA, who we gave up in 21. Yeah. And Pete Alonzo. Yeah. Two Pete's.
Okay. PCA 50 to 1, Petalonza 30 to 1.
Okay. You know what, Brotman? Let's do it.
Okay. Down. Right now, I'm looking at opening date baseball right now from Citi Field. I bet you Hank Azeri is probably sitting behind home plate right there. And unfortunately, TJ, I am seeing that Paul Skeens is showing up in City Field.
Happy Skeens Day. It's Skeens Day. We'll talk about that next segment. We got baseball on the brain there. Oh, but why did we trade PCA Brockman?
Uh, you didn't think he was going to be this good. Pete Carl Armstrong, nobody did. Harvard Westlake's finest. Nobody did. You're in town, you're in Southern California.
Um.
So he said, who's making the Arkansas versus Michigan State?
Okay. Calapari versus Izzo to cut down the net. That's fine. Entirely possible. And you know why that might come to fruition?
Because Coach Izzo called the show. That's right. And you get the Rich Eisen Show bump when you do that. You didn't have your coach called. I don't know what you're talking about.
I do have with the Sweet Sixteen tipping off tonight. Yes. See, if it was football, I'd say kicking off. Do you see what I'm doing? You are a master of words.
Or hosted one more time with Emmy nominated freshness. Damn fine. My top five Sweet 16 matchups presented by Hyundai. Hit it, hit it. High five.
One, two, three, four, and five. Richest top five. All right, so uh it's it's it's a it's a tight squeeze here. Because as you know, you could just you could do the math. There's four Sweet 16 matchups.
Per side of the bracket. Yeah, buddy.
So there's eight of them in total. I could do math for you. I'm more verbal.
So I'll give you my top five. Number five. In the south region, In Houston, Texas. Good luck, Illinois. Houston's there in Houston, Texas.
Oh, weird. And but the reason why I'm making this my fifth most interesting matchup. Is because it's the only region that does not have the one seed remaining in it. These are the top two seeds remaining.
So this is for the right. To move on, to survive and advance as the top seed remaining in. the region going into the Elite Eight, which is the goal of Every team. Every team entering the tournament, you want to be the top seed remaining. In your region going into the elite eight If Florida, you thought, was the defending champion juggernaut?
Well, guess what, Houston and Illinois? They're out. Thank Iowa for that. you have the right to move on into the Elite Eight as the top. Seed in your region and Obviously, I'm interested to see what it's going to look like tonight.
Thursday, 10:05 Eastern Time, 9 o'clock Central in Houston, when Houston takes the floor.
So that'll be of interest. That's number five. Number four on my list is Arkansas versus Arizona. Arizona, the one seed. A lot of people believe they are the best team in the tournament, period.
And here comes Arkansas with John Caliparry in the SEC for Arkansas. With Darius A. Cuff Jr., and then you take a look at Arizona, they have one of the best. One of the best freshmen in college basketball and Braden Burry's as well. It's two dynamic freshmen going against each other, with one of the coaches, as you know, and John Calapari, known for utilizing freshmen to the best of his ability.
And he was even asked about that leading into this game this week. You've obviously relied on freshmen for a long time. Is it different in today's game when you have some teams using 23, 24, older guys? 25, 26, 27. Yeah.
Is it different relying on freshmen? Kids in the stands on their second wife? Yeah, this is a little bit different.
So Then you say, well, why are they staying in school so long? For the money. I don't blame them. I do not blame them. It's our fault that we have nothing that prohibits age.
Make it 25. Kids transfer five times. Why? It's the same reason. Can I get more money somewhere?
That's why, if you put your name in the portal and you're on my team, you're out. I'm not going to be extorted. You know where we stand on things. It's Yes, harder with freshmen. Oh, my goodness gracious.
What an answer, right there. Incredible. If you dare to portal, you're dead to me. And then there's people on their second wives out there. I got to turn my back on you.
Yeah, right? Kids in the stand. Arkansas versus Arizona. Let's go. That's going to be a final.
A Sweet 16 game that goes down in, let me get this correct, in San Diego is where they came from. It's San Jose, just up the road. Second Western region. All right, number three is the other Sweet 16 in the South region, Iowa versus Nebraska. One of these teams is making the Elite Eight.
And it could it be the Iowa team that just slayed the top seed Goliath from. Florida that guarantees us of a new national champion. Could Iowa go on this run from the nine seed into the elite eight, or could it be Nebraska, which entered this tournament without a single tournament win in the history of the program? And now they'd have won three in a row to go to the elite eight for the right to pay, maybe cut down the regional net? Let's go.
Fred Horberg in the mix. And their fans are turnt up. They are indeed.
So, Nebraska versus Iowa, which means a Big Ten team will make the Elite Eight in the South bracket, number two on my top five Sweet 16 matchups. Uh I I think you're going to guess it. It's just which order you want to go in. The the East region is lit in Washington, D.C., going down on Friday night. Michigan State and Yukon is the back end of a double header.
Two versus three, UConn versus Michigan State. UConn, as we know, with Dan Hurley and Caravan playing his best game that he's played as a member of UConn, which won a couple of championships with that kid.
Now they're going against the Michigan State team that has just been thumping opponents. since uh they lost their big 10 Tournament game to UCLA, ending that run a little bit sooner than expected. These kids are really good. These coaches are really, really. experienced Tom Izzos 2000 Spartans team is the last Big Ten team to cut down an ET in this tournament.
Can't wait to see that one on Friday night. But number one, my top five Sweet 16 matchup. St. John's versus Duke. Part of this is also.
Part of my DNA. I'm a kid from New York City. Staten Island is New York City. Grew up in Staten Island with my brother, watching Walter Berry and Chris Mullen for Louis Carniseca and Loving the Big East when it was as dominant as any other conference in the history of conferences. When Rick Petino was the coach at Providence before he moved on to Kentucky, where one night in Philadelphia, taking on Duke, and Christian Leightner beat him at the buzzer, and John Shire was, what, wet in his diapers back then?
I don't know. But he has just been a wonderkin coach for Duke against the old war horse, 73-year-old Petino, now with St. John's, trying to get revenge for that last-second buzzer beater at the hands of Duke back in the day. Can't wait to see the Boozer kids take on this deep, talented St. John's team.
And that is the way the Friday night Sweet 16 doubleheader kicks off in the eastern region. That's my top five Sweet 16 matchup. More. I did not know that. Yeah, with Cooper.
Let's just have him come in and say it. Here's the one more. Here's the one more. Can they go from the first four? to the elite eight.
TJ. Your Texas Longhorns taking on the Big Ten tournament champs in Purdue that has been waxing and thumping opponents now for about a month. They had an up and down regular season, but they have pulled it together. Speaking about one of those guys that Calipar is referring to being 90 years old and their third wives or whatever, that kid Clough with the beard looks. He looks like he's been around for 19 years at Purdue.
They have a bunch of guys that have been playing together for a long time, trying to make one last run for Matt Painter, taking on Texas. Number 11, that's the Thursday night West Region tip off to that doubleheader of the Sweet 16 that ends up with Arkansas and Arizona. And those are my top five Sweet 16 matchups presented by Hyundai. Get into the Hyundai Getaway sales event and get away with a deal so right, it almost feels wrong. Visit HyundaiUSA.com.
For details. It's my top five. Love it.
Okay. So. John Shire was four. Or the yeah, the Waitner game, yeah, so. You know what I mean.
You know, so there are six I gave you six sweet sixteen Matchups. TJ, there was one team I just didn't notice on there. Did you pick up on that? Yeah, where's Michigan? Your game should have been won.
Why? Why would it be won? Why are you not looking forward to that game? That's not an exciting matchup. I'm trying to talk about what everybody's talking about.
I'm trying to put my finger on the pulse. Like 20% of the brackets have you guys winning it all. Like, what are we talking about? Is this more of the Dusty May crap bola where you're just like not trying to put the Ziggy on your team? I'm not putting any Ziggy on my team.
Why wouldn't you have them in your in the top five? Because Michigan beats Alabama these days. That's what we do. Oh, so that's why. Because he's so much better than he's not worried about it.
Oh, man. There was a calendar year where we sent Nick Saban into retirement. On the first of the day, and then on the last day of that calendar year, with a less than team. Uh, we beat his replacement. On the last day of the year.
No one cares that you sent Nick Singh. Like, there's two top five picks in this game. And Yaksa Lendeborg and Ada Mara, or who is that? Alabama has got A Cuffs on Arkansas. Right, right, right, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I understood. All I gotta say is two words. I don't know. I mean, weak sauce. Let me ask you, which which which one would you have bounced out for Michigan?
Who cares? Alabama. Your team should have been on this list. You think Yaxel's a top five pick? I don't know.
He's got a cool name. Have you seen him play? I have. Oh. I just don't know if he's top.
He's the big ten player of the year, and the big ten has six of the suite sixteen teams in the sweet sixteen. Discounting his talents.
Okay. That you're you just did.
Well, no, because I've been looking at mock drafts.
Okay. And he's not in the top five yet? I have not seen him in the top five yet. Top 10. That's all.
I mean, I would think. People were What would you say two top ten players in this trade? They're tank selling. Is that what you're doing? You're tank selling.
Taxeling, tank selling. Yeah, that's what they're. I gotcha. Tangsil for yaxel. Chris, just imagine how much more confidence Jack Sewell and the rest of his teammates would have if a famous alumni would show like some faith in them and have them come onto his show.
Make you feel like you're a fan. I don't even know if you care.
Okay. I think this is all up front. Tennessee versus Iowa State. I left off the entire Midwest region. Just left him off.
Just left him off. You'd have the Medill School coach, come on, though. Duke St. John's, Michigan State, Yukon may be one of the best.
Okay, those are great. Yeah, those are regional f you know, semifinal matchups. Ever. Based on Seeds, level of interest, where they're from, types of schools, coaches involved. What I'm saying is when G-Mac has us in 16 next year, Syracuse is going to be one through five on my list.
Houston and Illinois are now the top seeds remaining because Florida's been bounced. That region, if you think Florida is going to win, it is now wide open, which is the same thing for two teams that nobody thought would be making it in Iowa and Nebraska. And one of them is making the elite eight. Those are your top four matchups. of the Sweet 16.
And then I threw Arkansas and Arizona in there because, you know. It's of interest. Nebraska, Iowa. Neither of them are winning the title. Come on.
Michigan and Alabama? I had Iowa in the sweet six. Everyone should just forget about Michigan. Don't worry about it. Let them just go about their business.
Yeah, because you won't stop talking about them. Oh, really? I haven't talked about him at all. Then you're the one who just brought it up. He's kind of cloud.
He's kind of. That's my top five. That's ridiculous. Plus, one more. Your son is here.
Didn't you think that he wanted to see them in the top five, your rankings? Not if it was. I'm sure he would have been thrilled and ecstatic. By the way, Coop's here. Why didn't we just have him step in and go, oh, one more?
I did not know that. I didn't know. We didn't think of it. Oh, man. Let me know.
That's okay. We have him anyway. We have his voice. He's here in perpetuity. First of all, I don't like how big Coop is right now.
He's six, too. Why don't you like it? Because I walked in and he stood up and he looked all taller than you now. Here's the deal: I had them go back-to-back, shoes off. And.
TJ by like a quarter of an inch. Like the first time I ever met Coop and he stood here, he was this tall. And now me and him are like back to back and he's all like looking like trying to look like a little buff Bagwell. And I don't like it. Buff Bagwell.
You know what I mean?
Okay. Got too big. Holler, if you hear me. I know that's going to help.
Okay. Let's take a break here. Let's talk some baseball when we come back. The Yankees winning the first game of the baseball regular season last night in San Francisco. What a game.
And we'll keep an eye on just how many Mets Paul Skeen strikes out during the next hour. That's next. This is the Rich Eisen Show. Everybody. Rich Eisen here.

Back here on the rich island. What a great segment that was for our radio audience. You got to look that one up on our YouTube channel. O'Neill Cruz, leadoff singer. Is it O'Neill Cruz?
Started things off.
Okay, so there won't be a quick hitter today. Is it possible that 2026 starts? With Paul Skeens getting run support before he throws a pitch. Is that possible? I mean, it's possible.
If there is a God. But. It's the top of the first. And he didn't home run. And it is now.
Wait a minute. Is it gone? Two nothing. It is gone. A two-run homer.
Paul Skeens. Paul Skeens before he throws a pitch. Yeah. RUD support, my Met hating child is fired up. Because I've raised him right.
Two pound sight for you. Yeah. You know, Juan Soto still has. Peralta's ERA is Infinity. And Paul Skeens has run support, two runs before he throws a pitch.
It's a new baseball. But we have Skeens in fantasy, right, Koop? No, he couldn't get him. No, he couldn't get him. He got judge instead.
I got him. Oh, Skeens is looking. Who hit the jack? Who hit it? Brandon Wow.
Wow. All right. Looking at him. By the way, and he put on like a smelting mask to celebrate.
Well done. The Steelers have got a smelting mask to celebrate. They're locked in. Apart. What did I say?
The Steelers got a Steelers look. Steelers look. The Pirates. Oh, baby. Love it.
Oh my God, you're checking in on the New York Met Chocolate Whoopie Pie. They need one where he's giving you the bird. Whoopie! You've clearly never had a whoopee. Oh my God.
They're quite delicious. Probably. What a way for the Mets season to start. They're all fired up in Queens. We got it going.
We got Bulpa Shut over here. We got Peralta over here. We got Soto over here. We haven't even had a net bat yet, bro. Better not be getting over here.
You're facing Ski. You're facing Ski. That's fine. He's facing Ski. Can you look this up?
Is it possible to look up? How many times Skeens has got? You probably can't. Let's see if the machine got it. How many times has Skeen gotten multiple runs in support in the first inning?
Let's see. How many times has that happened? Two run lead for schemes to protect. On Met's opening day, TJ Jefferson, your thoughts? I mean, one sodo exists on this planet Earth, so I feel fine.
Okay. Yeah. This is great, man. The WBC.
Okay. You said Juan Soto couldn't hit Skeens in the WBC.
Well, this is the MLP.
Okay, very good. Come over here and take it. Cook, you want to sit down over here? Come on over here. No, he's coming to chicken here.
All right. Let's see. That's just a great way to start our baseball conversation today, man. Oh, well, we're on the subject. We're on the subject.
Yankees won 7-0. Yanks put up a five-spot and a second in the next one. Here's the thing night in San Francisco. Chris, think about it. Chris, were they playing against real competition yesterday?
What? The Giants. San Francisco Giants are not real competition. Here's the thing about last night's game. What about it?
Nobody cares that you won. Why? Because Judge Went 0 for 5 golden sombreros led first take today. Oh, well, that's absurd.
Well, that's a great way to start the season right here. Are you saying that? Hold on a second. Are you saying? Wait a minute.
Are you saying. The Yankees win seven nothing. In San Francisco on opening night, and first take was Judge, like what's wrong with Judge? Stephen A. had a nice long monologue about judge and their topic bar was bigger story, freed or judge?
Yep, I saw that. Let me tell you what the bigger story is here. Let me tell you what the bigger story is here at the risk of having a second take on this. It's wild that you get mad about this, but it's funny when my team goes down to two. I'm not of the first inning.
Oh, no, no, no. But sure, go ahead. No, no, no, no, no, no. It's okay. It's okay.
Paul Skeens has a two-run lead in opening day for the New York Times. You shouldn't worry about Skeens. You should worry about Aaron Judge. All the Queen Ziggler. All the Queen Ziggies show up on opening day.
They're all fired up.
Now they're quiet, but it's a nine-inning game. You could absolutely come back. I bet you won't sodo won't. But bigger story.
So Judge struck out four times. Who the hell cares? The whole point is that when Judge would strike out four times, the Yankees in previous years would flop. Nobody else would get a hit. If he doesn't perform, they don't perform.
That didn't happen last night. Max Freed throwing, pitching into the seventh last night is 1 million percent a bigger story because Cole's not even healthy, and Radon's not even healthy. Let's go. 25-man roster. Let's use it.
It's a beautiful thing. Do I want to see him strike out four times? Of course not. Of course not. Does it feed the narrative that he's arson judge, right?
Or whatever? You're hearing all that stuff: Captain America blowing it again. He's Mr. Mr. Me uh April.
Mr. May, he ain't Mr. October. Fine, say all you want. It's 7-0, a win where a whole bunch of people contributed.
Jose Caballero coming up with the big hit to start. Let's go, man. Let's go. I don't care. It's one game for Judge, and it's obviously one game for the Yankees as well.
Their pitching staff. There were levers. Looked terrific. They didn't get out of here with that.
So, if I was on first take, that would have been my take.
So, it's nah, I wasn't on first take today. That's my second take. Let me get the Stephen A quote. Here's the Stephen A. quote.
It's fine. That's his opinion. Too many moments he has had in his career where this Goliath of a man comes up considerably and conspicuously small.
Okay, great. Everyone around him came up big but him. Great.
So what? Did they win? Are they up st are they up one Are they one and all? I mean, take a stop the count. Take a snapshot of the division standings.
Please. No one else is. I don't care. I don't care. Because at some point, he will not strike out four times in a game.
And that could be Friday when they put Cam Schlittler on the mound. Here we go. And this is before coal. or Rodon come back healthy.
So chew on that. And you, sir, I'll bring to the air what we were texting about last night if you're up for it. Sure. I will do this. Judge I have judge, you have the entire Red Sox roster.
The entire Roman Anthony, Abreu, whoever you want. Judge will lead. Every single Red Sox collectively In average home runs and runs batted in by the end of the season. All three. All three.
All Anthony's got to get him in is RBIs, and you win, whatever, bragging rights, whatever you want to do. You take all three, yes or no. He will have a better average than any Red Sock, more home runs than any Red Sock, and more runs batted in than any Boston Red Sock. You get your entire roster. I get Judge.
Yes or no? At the end of the day. I kind of lean no.
Okay. I mean, look, I'm not saying Judge isn't a great player. He happens to play for the Yankees, which is disappointing.
Okay. I think the only way anyone on the Red Sox could get him is if maybe Judge hits like 305 this year and somebody hits 310.
Okay. They're not going to get him at any of the power stats. I don't see, because if Roman Anthony bats leadoff, he's not going to get 100 plus RBIs. Maybe a break. Why would he bat leadoff?
Uh your best player. Why does Otani bat lead off? Because there's Betts and Freeman and Tucker, and you could, you could, I mean, you got a nice lineup, but not like the Dodgers. But you're the Dodgers' best player, Bats Leedoff. I mean, right.
I understand that. I don't know. I mean, I guess that's the more at bats, you know, more likely to get five at bats. I got it. I got it.
So, you only want to take that? I will take it for the show because it's fun, but the only way we get it is average. I can't see. And here's what I think. The judge is going to hit 50 home runs.
No one on the Sox is going to hit 10 runs. He only had 115 runs batted in last year. I mean only. I know, but still good enough for fifth. Right.
I don't know. I think Anthony might have more than that. Because I think they're going to drop him down lower north. Maybe a Breux if he bats, you know, like he did. He's got too big a bat.
All right, so you'll take it just because you think I will take it. I will take it. I will win it. At the end of the day, yeah, I kind of do. And how about this?
Will Judge strike out more than any two Red Sox players could move? No. No, I will take two He will not. He will strike out a lot. Clearly, he's already got four in one game.
He will strike out a lot. And by the way, the number of times that the count would have been. One and O instead of O and one. I don't know why he doesn't tap his helmet once in that batch. It's unreal.
He's got the biggest umpires, even in this day and age, still can't call balls and strikes on him in the same way that referees couldn't protect Cam Newton. That they would just get him lit up because of his size. He's got a giant strike. I get it. But the number of times there was a ball high or low or a little outside and he doesn't tap his helmet, he should do it way more often than he did last night.
You're not he should have been the first guy in the first at bat last night. No trolling aside. Judge is thirty-three. He's an older player. No concerns about that maybe we're on the slide now.
No. No. Okay. I have no concerns that we're on the slide. One night in, like, this is like overreaction.
First MVP in the history of the sport to strike out four games in the open or the next.
Sounds good. Yeah. Okay, great. Okay. So we have one of those finally.
Okay, great. You know what? You and I need to join forces. Against the Mets. Yeah, no, not against the Mets.
Not against the Mets. If I'm not mistaken, there is a runner on for Soto. To try and tie the score.
Well, as you called your shot, saying there is Soto, he has a shot right now against Skeens in the first inning. Lindor should have, I'm sorry, I've been watching this while you guys are arguing. Lindor should have tapped his helmet twice. He went up 3-0, and there were two very questionable strikes. Yeah, but he's on base now anyway.
Yeah, but I don't care, man.
Okay. So here comes Soto to just two batteries in. Tie the score against Paul Skeens. Is this against the written consent? We don't have the express written consent of Major League Baseball.
It's a little bit delayed. We're very much delayed. It's so much fun right here. We can't do very much play. Oh, this would like, you know what I would do right now?
For a 643 or 543, this would just be. I don't know. I don't know what I would give for that right now. It's just amazing how your tone changes. Like, you want to talk trash and then you get called out on judge.
There's no tone. Oh, yeah, I get sick. There's no tone. I have no tone. You have no tone?
There's no tone lope. There's no tone anything. No tone. Tony, Tony, Tony. I got no tone.
It feels good. Let me tell you. What's going to feel good whatsoever. But Paul Skeens has actual run support before he took the mound. And Juan Soto, as you even said, he's still on the team.
And he has a shot right now to tie the game. Just two batters in and tell everybody there in Queens, I am here. I am Juan Soto. And what he does is actually single to center. And there is runners on the corners.
Or I'm not seeing. Oh, wait, I want to see it again. I want to see it again. He's not. I want to see that again.
Oh, that's amazing. Is he out? I think he looked out to me. The ball definitely beat him. The ball beats the runner a lot.
Well, in the old days, the ball beats you, you're out. But you know who actually has a hit this year and who doesn't, Chris? Let's see. Here comes the replay. He is.
Oh, he looks safe. Oh, my God. Please. Looks like he. For the love of all this whole glove.
I don't ask for much, but all I ask. He is in fact safe. Beauregard. This is Bichette's first act. If he goes yard, I am Miller.
He was mute by Mike because I'm going to say some stuff. This is kind of like the price is right. When T-Joe is on the price is right. Live right now. Mets versus Steens.
Opening day. Baseball is back. Beau Bachette's first at battles on Matt. Here we go. Runners on the corners.
Keynes actually got two runs of support against the newest Met 2, Peralta. Here we go. This is what baseball is all about. I love it. Game one of 162.
Oh, did Soto get picked off? No. No, he did not. He told him about it, too. But what I'm saying is, while we're having this conversation, we need to combine forces for that guy with his Dodger.
I think so. Hey, are you excited about Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium? Excited about that one? Hey, no one ever going to call it that. Oh, I think Dodger Stadium is dead.
R.I.P. Let's pour one out.
Well, it's called Dodger Stadium. Oh, no, you know what? But the field has been sponsored. Oh, no, no. What's go down to Uniqlo tonight?
Is it Uniqlo? Is it Uniqlo? It's like a Japanese clothing brand. Yeah, I know what it is, but I. Guess what?
No one's ever going to call it. Yeah, here's what I'm saying. What, UniClove? It can't remain pronounced. What do you got?
It's time for Don Joe Baseball.
Okay. Hey, listen, you can't. When you play, listen. Let's go down to the NEEC tonight. No, by the way, let's go down to the NEEE tonight.
Let's go down to the NEEC tonight. You know what I mean?
You know, sports fans, I remember when UniClove. Was a guy who came out of Rancho Cookamonga.
Now it's the name of the field. The fact that the Dodgers sold their field. It's like, what are they making up for the 401k payments? Is that what it is? All right, Bobachette has now flown out to right, and he has gotten a run in.
It is 2-1. Beaubachette with a productive out in his first at-bat. As a met, a sacrifice fly goes down in the books, SF, if you will, which is also the initials of the team the Yankees shut out last night. and Mr. Met Chocolate Whoopie Pie.
Is celebrating. Like, are you putting us up like there's something wrong with the whooping tide? What we need to do. Guys, we need to. I love whoopies.
Honestly, you're going to the game. It's everywhere. You're going to the game tonight? Are you going? When you go to the game, you see you're on the field, it's all good, no problem.
We got a we're making money so we can get skeens next. Oh, God. Making some money because the Dodgers need to make money. You know what the Dodgers should do for the fans? I'll just say this.
I texted last night. Free tickets. No, no, no. I was thinking the same thing. You said it right before it came out of my mouth.
Free. The Dodgers, what the Dodgers have done for the fans. Is remarkable. They put together one of the greatest teams we've seen in recent memory.
Okay, you want to come, you want to see five years when you spend your money and you will spend your money to go to Dodgers Stadium. Parking and everything. Um You're going to get a great product on the field. Whether they win or lose, who knows? It's baseball, right?
But man, you get to go see Otani and Betts and Freeman and Tucker and yada, yada, yada. Or Yamamoto and Edwin Diaz. Edwin Diaz. May the trumpets start playing in Chavez Ravine this evening.
So you've got an incredible team. Incredible. In terms of older stadiums? It's great. Although getting in and out, not great.
And that's my point, is to because you park. And in order to get to the stadium, you've got to cross. The roadway that every other car basically uses to get around and get to the lot. Why are we why are we not building just a walkway over Or that roadway. One one or the other.
What do we do? Or under. Over or under. What are we doing? Like it would, it would help traffic flow.
People don't feel like they're running across. I know that there's people who work for Dodger Stadium and they're in their nice, you know. Old school, you know, Atlantic City hats. They're straw hats. Very nice.
that you walk across the street. Give me something. But hey, maybe the unique cloak people could pay for that. Doesn't the previous owner still own the parking lot? Oh my God, don't even get me started.
That's why it's not getting proved. Oh, is that what it is? Yeah. And every year prices go up. Yeah, blame the McCourts.
Five to ten bucks every year just up, up. It's fun to do, it's easy to do.
So there's two runners on him. Skeens is having a tough first inning. By the way. An infield single. Luis Robert, his first at best.
Lubob.
Okay. Lubob.
Here we go. The New York Mets trying to. Cuff Skeens around. All right, poll question: Who are you more concerned about this year, Skeens or Judge? Give me a break.
No. Who's going to have a better sense? No. No. Just don't do that.
Why not? That's absurd. Do it to our teams, but don't. No, that's absurd. Come on, man.
Skeens or Judge. That could be the MVP and Cy Young Award winner of the year. And we're throwing that up there. That one aged like really bad milk, man.
Okay? Really bad. This is not football, where one game is a portal to the way the rest of the season. We cover baseball like football. No, we did that last year.
We tried that. It was very exhausting. It was exhausting.
Well, First Take did it today. They did. We were all in it for like the first month and a half because it's fun. Then we realized they played too many. You want to talk about cutting the NBA season?
So, what we're 162 is the lasting longer? Red Sox, Yankees, Mets. Who will last longer in the Major League Baseball season? We're leaving the Dodgers off because they would blow the poll away. Let me get through a half an inning before I give my take on it.
Okay, sounds good. Let's take a break. We'll come back, and Skeens will either have the lead or not. 844-204, Rich number 12. Stop the count.

And the Mets have scored five times during the commercial break on a Brett Beatty benches bases clearing. Triple And And then O'Neill Cruz loses the next one in the sun. It's 5-2. Mats. And Skeens has only retired one batter after getting two runs of support before he throws a pitch.
This season. By the way, great job by the NBC crew. This is an NBC game right now. They just showed a graphic under O'Neill Cruz defensive run saved last year, minus 14. I didn't know you could have minus fourteen runs save after blowing the pop-up.

Skeens just walked a batter. What's going on, Gabriel? Get him, get a batter. I'll do my best to not give it up. Oh no.
Anyway, it's opening day. uh opening days always really look forward to here in uh Pacific Northwest because uh That tells us that sunshine is around the corner couple months, I should say.
Well, how about sunshine in the form of the Seattle Sonics, Gabriel? Looks like they're going to be coming back. Absolutely. No, it's a great time to be a Seattle fan. Uh we had the sonics ripped away from us, and that was just I've kind of checked out of basketball since then.
There's been many, many dog days of being a Mariners fan. Um, this is the first time that I can remember. You know, I was a little kid when Junior was in town. For the 95 you know, mariners, um, and all the hype, and then eventually There goes A-Rod. There goes Junior to Cincinnati.
And that team just fell apart, just gutted and gutted and gutted. There's been a couple of good seasons since then, but true expectations this year for the Mariners to actually make the World Series. We got a True number one leadoff was Brendan Donovan. In a full year of the Big Grumper with Josh Naylor. Grumper.
Is that his nickname now after the World Baseball Classic? Is that what it is now? What's up? Is that his nickname now after the World Baseball Classic, leaving Rosa Reina hanging? He's called the Big Grumper now.
Is that what it is? No, no, no, no, no. Josh Naylor. Josh Naylor's the Big Grumper. Oh, I see.
Josh Naylor's nickname is the big grumper because that dude's always got a scowl on his face every time he's on the field. Good to know. We got him from the Diamondbacks last year, the first home run he hit. You know, they gave him the Trident. I mean, he kind of looked at the trident with like disgust.
Like, what is it, S, or whatever?
Well, Gabriel, listen, I appreciate the call. Thank you very much. Congrats on the sunlight and opening day. The Sonics coming back and Jackson Smith and Jigba. Is now the highest paid receiver in the National Football League.
He spoke to the media. On um On Wednesday. Again. Everything's, you know, the Mariners have a World Series hopes. The Sonics are coming back.
The Seahawks are defending Super Bowl champs, and Jackson Smith and Jigba and talking about getting Pizade. is uh also talking about repeating. Hit it. Offensive player of the year, won a Super Bowl, highest paid receiver. Yes.
What what's next for you? Have you reached this level? The only thing better than one Super Bowl is two, so you know just. Just working to To get there, and you know, whatever my team needs from me, you know, I make sure, you know, I get it done. That's the most humble repeat uh Statement ever, right?
Well We know when the title defense will begin. It will begin the Wednesday. Um after Labor Day. Not the Thursday. The season will not kick off Thursday this year.
It will kick off on Wednesday. As the Seahawks On September 9th, on ANBC and its family of networks will open up against Fill in the Blank. We know Who it won't be Because we know why the Seahawks are.
Now, starting on Wednesday night, it's because Thursday night. is the Rams Niners opener in Melbourne, Australia And the reason why that game is being played on a Thursday is because in Melbourne, when it kicks off, will be 10:30 in the morning on a Friday. Which is why they're playing it on Friday in the morning so it can be a night game in America. And when it being Thursday, now the Seahawks have to play. on Wednesday.
Which means you take the Niners and the Rams out of the mix as a possible opponent. for the Seahawks home opener. And we appreciate it. Look at Hoskins putting the Australian flag over those two. That's great.
Team logos take them out of the mix. I still think, again. It's going to be the Bears. Yeah, no-Brainer Bears. Right.
Because you can't schedule the Chiefs if it's going to potentially be Justin Fields. Right, we don't know. Because, again, this is going to have to be made. This decision is made in May. Right.
Won't be the Chiefs. That'll be a late season game. And I just don't know if, you know, the Giants or. The Cowboys the Chargers or the Patriots Are going to be the choices. It won't be the Cardinals either.
I just think the Bears, which is would have been The NFC championship game had the Bears one. That home game against the Rams. I think Caleb Williams and the Bears. in their season after their Launch season with Ben Johnson would be the choice, Chicago and Seattle. On a Wednesday night.
To kick off the season. And end our number two here on the Rich Eisen Show Radio Network. Uh The Rich Eisen Show Podcast. From 30 for 30 podcasts. Did you say how I got shot?
Brian Pata, senior defensive lineman from Miami. Gun down. The key to this case hits Brian. An hour before he died, he was on the phone arguing with Tabak. This might be a hit.
