I'm not going to get up now. Earlier on the show. NFL Network reporter Stacey Dales. Coming up. NFL Network Analyst Daniel Jeremiah.
Chief Operating Officer and Co-Owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Stephen Jones. ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes. And now, it's Rich I said. Hour two of our fourth and final day right here on the Rich Eisen Show at the NFL Scouting Combine on Disney Plus, the ESPN app, and so much more.
Stephen Jones, the co-owner and COO of the Dallas Cowboys, 20 minutes away. The franchise tagging of George Pickens went down today. They didn't want to wait till Tuesday, so that's already in the books. Carson Beck stopping by in hour number three, along with Mean at Kimes, but joining us to kick off hour number two is my guy, Daniel Jeremiah, because I can't quit him enough. Good to see you, buddy.
How are you? Good to see you, man.
Well, I led the show by saying I've never seen anything like Sonny Styles. And I know RVL Reese was outstanding, and I understand. that David Bailey was outstanding, but what Sonny Styles did, I've never seen anything like it. Triple crown last night, man. No, I just walked from the stadium over here and sweat significantly more than Sunday Styles did after jumping 43 and a half inches, running to the 4-4s, and dominating a field workout.
Pretty much. That was the thing that stood out to me. It wasn't just how smooth he was, how fast and explosive he was. The rare players, the elite players, they have an endless gas tank. And it's like he wasn't even, he looked like he'd have done 10 more of those workouts yesterday.
Yeah, he was not out of breath telling Stacey Dales I should have jumped higher. Should have jumped 45.
So as I talked on the show with you last night. Let's try and replicate it here. The first overall pick in the draft was at the podium this morning, correct? All right.
So Fernando Mendoza will check the box. The second overall pick in the draft worked out last night, correct? You would agree with that? I would agree with that. All right.
Walk me through the choice the Jets have and what you think might actually come out in the wash in Pittsburgh.
Well, there's a desperate need for an edge rusher. There's a definite need for an impact defensive player.
So when you look at the first part of the discussion, it's like, who are the defensive players worthy of going all the way up there? And we saw all three of them last night.
So it's David Bailey, it's Sonny Stiles, and it's R. Val Reese.
Well, as much as I love Sonny, and we're talking about the unbelievable workout that he had, you know, they just traded Jermaine Johnson. That's a hole for them at the edge rush position. They need somebody there. They need an impact player there. I tend to think if it's close, they probably go with an edge rusher.
So then that puts Sonny to the side, and then you're down to R. Vill Reese and David Bailey. David Bailey is the more productive edge rusher. He's played that position for an extended period of time. There's proof of concept.
You know exactly who and what he is, which is exceptional. But then there's Arvell Reese, who I would argue has even more in his body, like more just raw talent and explosiveness. He's a little bit better athlete and like bender and all those things, but has split his time from off the ball as an off-the-ball linebacker and an edge rusher.
So where I think R. Vill Reese could end up ascending past Bailey, I think Bailey is better right now, and I think there's still like double digit sack potential and it's double digit sack player.
So it's not like you're taking some low floor. Only athletic guy who's just got some sacks. Like, I think David Bailey at this point in time is where I would peg them.
So, but don't. Wouldn't Styles have a plus in the fact that you could put him in so many places and You don't, I mean, he could rush the passer. As well? Yeah, I mean, I don't know that I would say there's anything you can't do, which is you don't have a whole lot of examples there. This is a former safety who's now grown into a linebacker.
Yes. And then now you'd be asking him to do something totally new there on the edge. I don't, watching that guy yesterday, I wouldn't put anything. Past him. But it's not like we watched, you know, Sonny Styles run 446 and David Bailey and R.
Vill Reese run 465. Like, one ran the exact same time, but the other guy ran 4-5 flat.
So these guys are all three specimens.
Okay, so now this leaves. what, Arizona at three to to decide between Maui Noah and whoever the Jets don't take, is that basically the way this is now playing out right now? Yeah, and I think that's the case. And you could look at it and say, okay, we haven't seen Jordan. Jeremiah Love yet what he can do, and I think he'll put on a show as well.
To go up as high as three. I mean, I just think you're looking at the best players and the most impactful players. He's my second overall player, so I mean, he's going to be in the conversation. At least you have to discuss it. But.
If I was going to say like, what do I think they would like? To me, I would think if you're Arizona, you probably like maybe Mauan Noah moves even better than you thought. He's 340 pounds. Right. And we can solve some of the issue along the offensive line, and there's a lot more they need to solve as well.
All right, so then at four, you've also got. uh the titans And what do you think that they're thought process it. Process would be based on what we've already seen. Yeah, I mean, what we've seen so far, they need somebody to complement Simmons inside and Jeffrey Simmons.
So you've got some pretty good options here. We'll see.
Now, Ruben Bain, and we had the discussion yesterday: the arm length, and how comfortable are you with that, and the tape warrants. Being in that conversation right there. And now we'll see if they're comfortable with that. But that's where I had them going. But I mean, If you want to give your young quarterback, your second-year quarterback, a big-time weapon, you'll have your pick of the receivers, whichever one you'd like.
I would think that would put Carnell Tate in the discussion. How much does the arm matter to you about Bain right now, given the production we've seen this guy throw in college?
So the way I explain it, and look, people care about it, and there's some teams that'll ding him more than others. I like to look at it as, I didn't know what his arm length was. I knew he had short arms when I watched him.
So when you're watching him, do I have notes on my paper where I'm saying, gosh, he plays a little short arm. Like, the short arms have been a concern. And I don't have that in my notes.
So when I don't have that in my notes, I don't get as worked up when the arm length doesn't come there. But on the other side of it, Cassius Howell, who I like is a really good player out of Texas A ⁇ M. There are notes, again, don't know what his arm length is, but there are notes where I think he gets stuck and he struggles to get off some blocks at times, and then he comes in and he's got 30 inch and change arms.
Well then, okay, now it's a real discussion, and now you gotta figure out where he fits in.
So if you're not noticing it. on the all 22, and you're not noting it. Then I get more comfortable with most of the time, though, from your world of scouting. you notice short-armed guys or at least guys who only have 31 inch arms. Rarely, they've never had a double-digit sack season in the NFL.
And you pair those things up, and suddenly somebody like Bain could drop. And I've been in the rooms and I understand the discussions, and the numbers are the numbers. It's just like, I think Micah Parsons is what, like, 31 and a half. Micah Parsons has shorter arms. And so, and I know in talking to some D coordinators, like, a lot of it's the ability to finish.
Yes. And I'm sitting here going, like. Does that really help you finish? Like that much difference? Yes.
Like the tape's too good. I can't quit them.
So this mock draft that we keep popping up on the screen, it's what, about a week old, pretty much? Yeah, yeah, we'll see changes. Do you pop styles into the top 10 now? I mean he's been he's been my I think he's my fifth overall player I'm only asking to prepare myself for what I think is the inevitable. JETS?
No, that there's going to be four Buckeyes in the top 10.
Well, there's no way to go. We're going to sit that Tate could go. Yeah. Downs could go. Style.
It's all my top nine players. And Reese.
So we've got the mock draft up here. If you looked at my top 50 list, I've got all four of those guys in my top nine. Basically. But I guess there's need. Yeah, positional value factors in and there's some need and where teams could go.
I mean, we haven't seen the whole, we haven't read the whole book yet in terms of the offensive guys and what they look like, but that's. Tough act to follow with what we saw yesterday. Why do you have the Giants snagging Carnell Tate right now?
Well, I go with the theory of you got a second-year quarterback, and it's the same theory you could use with the Titans to have that conversation. I just think Jackson Dart, you know, let's get him going, let's get him up and running, let's show that we've solved the quarterback issue. And last year, when you have the injury to neighbors, I mean, he had Wandell Robinson, there's not a lot he was working with there. You can't do that. You've got to give him a fighting chance.
They need some more weaponry. And Tate's a really good player who is going to run 4-4, jump well, elite character, all that stuff. These Ohio State guys, man, they've been very impressive. They have, you know, just like. Could only one more.
Yeah, how did they ever lose? Incredible.
Now, somebody brought up a good point, though. To a walk-on quarterback, I don't think they give up more than 17 points, right, in any games?
So the defense did their part. Yeah. And I'm telling you. Wow. Again, my eyes popped out of my head with Sonny Styles last night.
I'm just wondering who passes up on him in the top 10. Right, but you have needs if you want to go wide receiver, where you obviously love his top 10, right? But there's no question he doesn't come out of the top 10. He's too good of a player. He is too good of a player.
Right. And that's what we'll be talking about on Saturday as well. Which quarterback do you think we're going to be coming out of the? Saturday spinning to go, all right. He is, in fact, going to be the second one taken, and potentially even in the first round.
Yeah, I mean, I think Ty Simpson's going to be the second one, and I'm excited to see him throw. He's going to do everything. If I was going to say who has a chance to really help himself with that workout, though, I would go Carson Beck. Yeah, he's coming up here in the third hour. Why do you think?
I think a lot of things. Number one, he's played a lot of ball. He's won a lot. I think he's won 37 games. He's been in big stages, big moments, big games.
He's got the size. He throws the ball, like, just as a thrower, mechanically, he looks like Carson Palmer, how he throws the ball. He just doesn't play the position as well as Carson had played it coming out.
So there's still growth and development that needs to take place there. And talking to teams, and I'm excited to see what you think of him, and talking to teams that visit with him. Like he's talked about his kind of maturation throughout his time.
Well, he was in Bryce Young's... recruiting class, he better be mature. Yeah, but I mean just in terms of some lessons learned and how to interact with your teammates and really take on a leadership role, it sounds like he was pretty introspective with the teams on that. And Mendoza's just... the dream come true, right?
I mean, because Chris started the show by saying if you're If you're the Raiders and you trade Max Crosby, Why don't you take one of these defenders first overall and leave Mendoza on the board and go in the draft next year and get your guy? What do you think of that idea? Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Bo Nicks, you don't want to bring a knife to a gunfight. You've got to get the quarterback. You've got to get him.
You need an edge rusher to go get those guys, though, right? Yeah, but I just think you're just spinning your wheels if you can't get the quarterback thing, and it's like. I mean, you know one of the best defenses in the NFL last year, the Browns, does anybody know or care? No. Because they didn't have the quarterback.
Yeah. So. I mean, like, you just, it is what it is. I get it, I'm not sure if you're a child. You've got to change the story.
And you can't just sit there and say, well, next year there's a bunch of these guys.
So there's no guarantee you're going to be in position to get them. There's no guarantee all these guys are going to come out. Staying in college football has never been more attractive. I mean, Dante Moore's shown you that.
Sourceby could have come out this year. He stayed in school.
So you can project in what you think classes are going to look like, but you don't know. Who are we going to have this weekend you're looking forward to? Who give our. Audience and mind's eye of what we should be checking out tonight, Saturday, Sunday. What do you got for me?
Yeah, we'll have some fun tonight watching these guys run around. There's a couple safeties I'm really excited to see. I don't anticipate Downs doing anything, but you'll see the next two guys for me. McNeil Warren is a safety out of Toledo, who's 6'3.5, over 200 pounds. I think he'll run and jump pretty well.
He's a really good player, first-round caliber player. Dylan Fieneman from Oregon is going to test really well and can really, really move.
So those are a couple DBs I'm looking forward to. And then as we get later on in the next couple days, these wideouts, Brandon Thompson's going to challenge the 40 records for Mississippi State. Yeah, he can roll. Not the biggest guy in the world, but electric speed. We'll see Burks from Oklahoma is going to run crazy fast.
There's a kid from Kentucky that can fly receiver, like the receiver group's going to be insanely fast.
Okay. And then love. Is going to test out of the roof, right? Yeah, he's going to roll. He's look, I don't, I don't, we've talked about this before, but I don't know that I've seen a guy with his style.
Which is, if you were to put a defender on a line and he was here, say they're 50 yards apart from the. You're running, he's able to make this guy miss without changing speeds, and like he somehow navigates around him with a spin or just a little move. It's not like he stops and goes laterally. He's going forward and somehow he's elusive enough to, and slippery enough to make the guys miss. It's crazy.
I don't think the Saints pass up. I was just gonna say, he doesn't get by eight, right? He's in this, I think he's going to park his car in the neighborhood of 789, and we'll see kind of where that fits. I keep saying this, and I'll. I'm going to say it again Saturday.
I'm the Giants. I bring them in and I. I just talk about how much you love them. Yeah. You know, damn straight.
Yeah. Damn straight. If he's that good. and you want to go get them, you've got to forget about. you know, getting in front of the commanders.
Yeah. You gotta get in front of us if you want love. And you can then move down and take any of these guys that you've been mocking at them to get, right? To me, the other interesting thing with him is we've talked about trying to find What are the trade possibilities? And to be honest, it doesn't line up well because you're looking at the second quarterback, I don't get the sense that there's the excitement there for the second quarterback.
You look at pass rushers, well, we just have so many that that kind of kills that demand. And then you look at maybe drop off in position, like if there's only two offensive linemen or three offensive linemen, wherever that last guy is, people want to get on that train before the ride's over.
So I don't think we have all those things. The one thing that I'm just, let's get through free agency, let's see maybe some picks get acquired via trades. Are there teams that are this close? And this is the little cherry on top, is to go be aggressive and go get love to get it. You feel more like one of those teams than a team that's just picking in the top 10 is not a great team and making that move.
It feels more like a team that feels like they're. You mentioned getting weapons for Cam Ward. I know four is really high for a running back, but did Zeke go four? Why wouldn't they take a shot? At Tennessee at four.
Yeah, my only thing with them is that Again, though, we'll see what they do in free agency. They got to build up the offensive line. They got $100 million in free agency. They got the most cap space right now of anybody in the United States. And they just let Cushinberry go, so that's another one that they got to replace.
But I mean, the great thing about running backs, and we'll talk about it, Rich, is the. The Saquon Barkley test is perfect. Saquon Barkley in New York was fun for a while, I guess. And then all of a sudden in Philadelphia, it's 2,000-yard Super Bowl fun. You know what I mean?
Right. So who's going to be able to maximize one of these guys? You want to have it kind of built.
So with the Raiders last year, Ash and Genti had no chance. He's got hit in the backfield on every single play. Every single play. He's a good player. Like, you gotta have a little bit of that infrastructure in place for the back.
Last one for you, do you think Crosby gets traded? Not unless the asking price comes down. Just talking to teams, it seems like it was pretty astronomical, and I didn't know that there was anybody who was going to meet that. From what you're hearing. Yeah, which is where it is now.
Maybe this is just: hey, you know, aim high, and then maybe you take a little less. The Bears are the team that. Make the most sense.
Well, because he's why? Because he's out of the conference. They're that player away. It's a need. They could be like this year's Packers.
Yeah. Right? Where you feel like you're ready to go. You got the quarterback, you got the coach, you got everything else. Let's just add big-time pass rusher.
I know every. I'm sure in all the interviews you've done this week, anytime I've been on a Chicago spot, they're like, what about Max Crosby? That they're thinking it, the fan base is thinking it. I mean... That one's the one, it's just what the price is going to be.
Well, what price would you strike it at? First, to me, I think it's a one and a conditional where performance or playtime based, maybe it's a three that turns to a two or a four that takes a second. Why would the Raiders do that? Just because they need as many picks as possible or I mean Or it is in fact over, and then you just need to do it.
Well, I just think with the Raiders, it's, we've, you know, it feels like Mendoza's the guy there. Let's give him the best chance we possibly can.
So that's unlimited resources from free agency, getting more picks, you know, focusing on that side. And I've kind of just talked about when you're in a draft room, you have the draft board set up, and you've got the offense on one side and the defense on the other. I would go over to the defensive magnets, which don't think they use magnets anymore. But I would just wipe those things all off and go, we'll do that next year. We're just going to go all offense and try and give Mendoza a fighting chance.

And by the way, our radio audience just returned. Stephen Jones of the Cowboys is here. Do you envision any of those guys from last night wearing a star on this? Absolutely. I mean, you can't get too caught up in just one of them.
Right. The good news is, as you said, there were multiple. Players who went out there and really played well, and in our mind, really helped themselves.
So, you know, that bodes well for us. I mean, we're not at the very top where we're going to just get to have our choice.
So, we've got a little bit of weight. You know, sitting there at 12 doesn't mean we can't move up. And then, obviously, we got the 20th pick as well. But the great news, you know, from last night, as you said, there were multiple players who really did well. And that really made us feel good that we're going to be able to get some really good players with those two first-round picks.
So, speaking of free agency, you made news today, franchise tag for George Pickens. Can you walk me through that process and what you see happening now? Yeah, I think the difficult thing, which everybody sees, is when we're already paying one of the best receivers, if not the best, in CD Lamb at the very top of the market. And then, obviously, with the performance George had last year, you can imagine what his expectation is.
So, that's a challenge. We readily admit that. And at the same time, we also know and found out what two really premier receivers can do for an offense. And especially if you put them with a quarterback like Dak Prescott, we really had an explosive offense that we feel like if we can get the defense right on the other side of the ball, that we can compete for a championship. And certainly watching this year's Super Bowl, I don't think a lot of people when the season started had the two people that were in it as guys who were going to be participants, but hats off to them.
They did a great job. But we feel like we're very capable of fixing this defense. And then the way George went out and complimented CD, the way Dak used him, and we've already made a move to go ahead and solidify Javante Williams being back, who was a big part of that offense running the football. Coach Schottenheimer and his offensive staff were committed to running the ball. And then we got a really good tight end room and a lot of resources.
horses and a nice offensive line.
So feel good about that side of the ball. As you said, we've got to get with it now on the defensive side. We've got a great staff.
Now we've got to put the players with the group of players, which we do feel like we've got some nice players on the defensive side of the ball. We've got to get some more to go with them. Is this the beginning though with you talking about George or it's a franchise? Absolutely. I mean we're not putting any time frame on this.
I mean the most important thing is live in the present. We think we just love that George is going to be back. Jerry had a great visit with him yesterday. He was fired up that he wasn't going to be going anywhere. And we all understand too, you know, economically guys probably would prefer a long-term deal, but the franchise tag, you know, economically is not bad either.
But he was very fired up about his future with us. We felt like he wanted to be in Dallas. He certainly said that to Jerry yesterday. Jerry was... just said he was on Cloud9 that he was going to be a cowboy again.
All right, Stephen Jones here on the Rich Eisen Show. Let's talk about the competition committee. Is the tush push... Still on your radar screen, or you don't think there's going to be anything forwarded from the committee for membership to vote on? Yeah, all things are on the radar, if you will.
And we're always monitoring the different types of plays. I will say those scrum plays always stay in the front of our mind in terms of: are we sure this is a safe play, first and foremost? Do you like it? As a footballer. I like it.
My opinion on it. I think I've been vocal about it. I'm not a big fan of the scrums and the pushing and not just the tush push, but down the field when the runner's getting close to stopping forward progress, if not stopped, and then you have the guys coming into the pile and pushing. It's not my favorite look in terms of when we look at plays.
So those are all things we'll continue to look at, but I don't think you'll see any type of vote at this point, what I'm seeing on the tush push. I think they spoke last year. We'll continue to monitor it and make sure it's one first and foremost a safe play and then keep getting the feeling from people around the league as to what we want these, if you will, rugby type plays, the scrums, to look like. What do you think there will be a vote on coming out of the court? I don't think we're going to see a lot of playing rule votes.
Obviously, we had the play. No, there were very few rules submitted. I think the focus is going to be. Around replay assist. You know, we always wanted, as Rich McKay would say so well, we wanted to crawl before we walk.
We want to walk before we jog and jog before you sprint. And, you know, that's what we're doing. I do see that we do think that we'll add some plays that will fall under the replay assist rule, if you will. Which ones? Which ones do you think?
You know, I think we're going to continue to make that list. I mean, there are interesting thoughts on that, but obviously we want to continue to improve the intentional grounding's a big one. What all facets fit under intentional grounding, but we're going to go through a thorough list. We're still gathering that list when we get to Florida.
So that'll be important. And then, you know, the obvious one that the Rams submitted is the one in their game with Seattle. And I think the running back picked the ball up after a backwards pass had been deflected. And we're certainly going to review that and see what the best type of rule is to have that, you know, that. And is the right rule, and the unintended consequences don't bite us somewhere, but that's really the only playing rule that we've really gone over up to this point.
A couple of follow-ups there. Let's just talk about that, you're referring to the week 16, Thursday night classic, what a game that was, where Seattle got a two-point conversion awarded after it seemed to be an incomplete pass, and then Replay Assist chimes in and says that was a backwards pass. And we were wondering, you know, why did Replay Assist take so long? Have you guys gone through? who made the call and how they decided it.
Very thoroughly, and I think one thing that is important, and I think you would hear this from Rich or Troy or anybody, is sometimes the replay assist group, it takes a while to get the quote unquote kill shot. The shot that really shows here's exactly what happened. And there's people in the room who feel like, well, maybe that should be limited to a 40 second timeframe, a 60 second, but at the same time we want to get it right.
So in that particular case, because you've just finished a two-point conversion, you go to a commercial break, and during that time, they get better views of what actually happened on the play. We want to be able to utilize those particular views to get it right. And what about putting your flag down? via replay assist. Are you in favor of something like that?
I'm actually not in terms of putting a flag down. I'm just very concerned about on what and then that grows, that list can grow in a hurry. and then you start to worry about pace of game. I think we got some of the best officials in all of sports. I think they do an incredible job.
They're obviously under scrutiny because of the number of cameras that are in the stadium these days. You know, I think we're at a minimum of 30 for every game, and the playoffs, I think it climbs to 60, and I think the Super Bowl, it's over 100.
So obviously, they're under scrutiny, but I think they do an amazing job. And I do think we have to be concerned about the pace of play once you get into putting a flag down on a play.
So, you know, where I am right now, it's certainly not everybody. I would be very concerned to put a flag down.
Well, so when you're saying replay assist would help with intentional grounding, it would be. A flag's been thrown. Let's take a look and see: was he in fact out of the tackle box? Out of the tackle box, which can be subjective at times.
So that's about replay. But what about putting a flag down on the person who instigates, instead of just popping the retaliator that we've seen for decades in officiating, that, yo, we didn't see the guy who started it, we always flagged the guy. who finished it. What about that? Rich, great point.
Very much a topic of discussion in the last few days where we're looking at that. And one of the issues that we struggle with right now, without a flag down. Then you can't fix that.
So that's why maybe the one time where there could be a flag thrown. And somebody will have that, and then somebody will have how about the obvious face mask, and then that list grows, and then your concerns get pace of play and things of that nature. But you're hitting on some topics that are very much in the forefront. And as you said, a lot of times you just catch the retaliator and not the guy who initiated the personal foul. And what about.
instituting a one offensive play rather than an onside kick. Is that a story? That's something we discuss every year and it just really, up to this point, not unlike no one's voted the TUSH push out, we just hadn't had a lot of traction for getting away from the actual traditional kickoff, the onside kick, if you will. and moving to something, the one play, you know, fourth and whether it's fourth and 18, fourth and 23, fourth and 28, move into that particular situation. Yeah, I guess it'll be tough to do something like that, because what if there's a defensive penalty?
Suddenly somebody hits. It's pass interference. Right, and then all of a sudden no on-side kick, but just, or an illegal contact away from the play.
Somebody just has one false move defensively and then that means possession. We call those the unintended consequences. And those are the things that why I think it's never really been instituted in terms of an option. for the on-site kick.
Now I will say we would like for the on-side kick percentage recovery rate to go up some, but not a lot. At the same time, yeah, I think you'd like it to go back to the traditional numbers, which I think were You know, more closer to the 8%, 8.5%, 9%. You know, we're sub-5, really well below sub-5. At the same time, you want the team who've Who really took control of the game? But at the same time, there's nothing like the score, recover the onside kick score in terms of an exciting football game.
We've all seen a lot of games won that way, and that's exciting. And you do want some degree of opportunity for that to happen. I appreciate you coming on, Stephen Jones. You've always been a friend of this program and anything that I've been up to from jump with NFL Network to the current day of NFL Network and Disney being partners coming up.
So thank you. Really appreciate it. It's always an honor to get to be on with you, Rich, and we're fired up about our partnership with Disney and just look forward to some amazing content in the future. I appreciate you saying that. Say hi to Jerry Formy.
Enjoy taking the bus around town. I know whenever you guys are in town at a combine, the bus is out there. There's a crew, absolutely. Great being on. Thank you.
That's Stephen Jones right here. Jeremiah Love is joining us next live in Indianapolis. You're listening. watching to the Rich Eisen Show. The Rich Heisen Show, the podcast.
Jeremiah Love here on the Rich Eisen Show talking about Duck Walker winners.
So you met Marshall Falk. Yes, sir. He was a great guy. He's a great guy. He is indeed.
Down to earth, calm, collected. Great guy. He is. Probably was different on the field, but yeah, I got to meet him. How are you on the field?
Completely different than I am now. I kind of like got a little flip or a little switch that I turn. What do you mean? What do you mean? You talk to hits.
Do you talk mess? I talk a lot of crap. I like the hit. I like to get in your face and talk a little bit, especially if it's USC.
Okay. Yeah, I flip a switch, turn into a different person.
Okay. No kidding. Gotta have a little bit of craziness. Just a little bit. Why do you say that?
Cause uh who wants to Be hit and hit people for a living, you know? Gotta be a little crazy or a little messed up in the head to want to do that for a living or want to do that for fun, you know?
So, what's your favorite? thing to do on a football field. On a football field? Yes. Jump over people.
Okay. It's the most satisfying thing ever to completely clear somebody like you're jumping over a a hurdling track. It's very, very satisfying. What will a team get if they draft Jeremiah Love? Everything.
I say this every time I'm asked this question, I'm willing to do anything and everything for whatever organization I'm blessed to go to to have success. I'm coming in, working, anything you need me to do, special teams, receiving, running the ball, blocking the ball, anything you need me to do, put my body on the line, I'm going to do it. do it to the best of my ability. I will say this, okay? I've been around the league a while.
I don't think there's any chance you're playing special teams with the National. I would love to play special teams. Like what in special teams would you like to play? I won't play gunner, gunner on punt. I'm trying to go down and smit tomorrow.
You are crazy. You got to be crazy. Let me tell you something, Jeremiah Love. You're not playing Gunner in the National Football. That is not happening.
Who knows? Who knows? Okay. Listen, I don't want to. I can say these things.
You are taking the 100% smart. Approach of, like, I'll do whatever I could, whatever you ask of me, I'm there. There is no I in love, even though there is one in Jeremiah, but yes, like there is no I, right? You're a team player. That's what part of your many superpowers.
Gunner is not happening. That is 100% not happening for you. That's a little sad. No, don't be sad about it.
So, which teams have you met with here? I've had 10 formals. Who are the 10? Ugh. New York Giants.
Kansas City Chiefs, Saints, Cardinals. Titans. Dolphins Um browns? No, not the Browns. Cowboys.
Forgetting Jets. Couple. Steelers. The Steelers. Rams.
Okay. Jets. I think that's more than ten, but um what was the last one? I think that's it.
Okay. I'm probably forgetting one. but a lot of faces, a lot of names, a lot of teams. A lot of talking. Good vibes.
What are they asking you? They want to know about me as a person, you know. We talked about film as well. Just. went through some stuff, went through some blocking stuff, how I see protections, things like that, but for the most part, all the team just wanted to get to know me more as a person, really.
And do you read mock drafts or you don't? I see them, but I try not to pay attention to them. Like, I see a lot of people saying I'm getting drafted to the Chiefs, Saints. Saw the Giants, saw the Commanders, saw the Cowboys not too long ago. I mean, I'd be blessed to go anywhere.
Yeah, but I try not to pay attention to that stuff. You know. I'm seeing you a lot. Yeah. And obviously, you know, playing football with Patrick Mahomes would be.
something I'd imagine. You're from St. Louis, right? You're from Missouri. Yes, sir.
You'd be close to home. Yeah, you would be close to home. That's something you'd be up for, I imagine. Yes. Yes, I would be.
Especially playing with Patrick Mahomes. Right. I feel like he's. I mean, the best quarterback as of right now, best in the league, I feel like he's top on.
So it'd be an honor to play with him. And so at the end of the day, for you. Um where you get drafted. is obviously a spot that, you know. Do you ever dream of one particular spot growing up?
Not really. Um growing up I never really Paid attention to football or really knew much about it. I played it, but. Never really dived any deeper than that. As of late, I mean, I do my research on just people that came through the game and the legends that have just passed through Notre Dame and got to play in the NFL.
Um but like there's really not a singular team that like I want to play for them. Cause just growing up, I just... I just never really developed that um that type of inclination to play with anybody, you know? What would happen if Notre Dame made the college football playoffs? We would have been in Miami's shoes, but um probably would have been a better outcome.
Probably would have been a better outcome. Better outcome for who? For both teams.
Okay. A better outcome for both teams. It would have been a very good game. I think Miami did an incredible job throughout the playoffs. They earned their right to be there, and Carson Beck.
led that offense all the way to the to the to the final game. And they played a great game, you know? We went toe to toe, they beat us first game of the season.
So I say they earned the right to be there.
Okay. And what's your goal? In the National Football League, you want your career to be what? Jeremiah Love. By the time I'm done playing football, I want to be a Hall of Famer.
I want to be recognized as one of the best players that ever come through the game of football. I want to be recognized as. The best running back of all time. That's a huge statement to make, but I um have a I'm going to develop some set goals every single season to make sure that I'm on course for my goal. And then also, I gotta do some PR stuff too.
So, gotta build a good image of myself in the NFL world, a likable image.
So, everything's gonna go hand in hand, but my ultimate goal is to be the greatest of all time and to be a Hall of Famer.
Well, I wish you the best of luck. My time with you is up. Thank you. I've enjoyed it. Thank you.
I've enjoyed it too. It's been fun. I don't know if you know I went to the University of Michigan. Really? Yeah.
I actually was very, very close to going to Michigan. I was very, very close. What happened? I mean, I was committed to Notre Dame. And it came to signing date, and I was literally this close to going to Michigan.
What? I just I was like I'm committed to Notre Dame I'm just gonna stick with them. Even though I kind of want to go to Michigan, I kind of want to. Go there. I mean, I'm just gonna stick it out another name.
I'm gonna stick with my first choice. Was Harbaugh the coach still then? He was, yeah. He was still the coach. Did you have to call him up and say sorry, Jim?
Or no? I ain't here to speak to nobody. I ain't talked to nobody. But my homeboy, Frederick Moore, he went to Michigan. And I was kind of like, gonna go with him.
And I remember it very vividly. I'm telling him, like, bro, I'm trying to. I'm trying to go to Michigan, I'm trying to connect with y'all coaches, but nobody's hit me up. Like, I ain't got no connection to nobody, so that's probably why I didn't go. Nobody contacted me.
I didn't know you.
Now we can fix this problem. Oh, it's all over. Yeah, it's all over now, but there was a time where I wanted to go to Michigan. I'm freaking out right now. I'm absolutely freaking out.
Jeremiah Love, thanks for coming on, man. Great to see you. It's Jeremiah Love, right here on the Rich Eisen Show, everybody. I think they're waiting for you over there. I'm good, I'm good.
Good. Derry goes and wheel route out the gate. There goes Jeremiah Love. Ladies and gentlemen, there he goes. Uh-oh, he's picking up, this, by the way, you want to talk about, he's picking up his trash.
He's picking up his trash. He's talking about next level being the PR guy. Fantastic. Here he goes. Thank you, Jeremiah, love.
There he goes. Are you alright? No, I'm not alright. I'm not alright. Hold on, let me do this read.

Like, I think we all passed out because the air collectively just left the room for everyone because Rich was like, Wow. What? Oh, you have you racked it back? Oh, yes.
Look on my side. Yes, come on. Oh, come on. I didn't see it. No.
Zoinks? What? What? Pardon me? Excuse me?
It's like the Miles Gambler Hamil Zeros? Yeah. You right? No, I'm not all right. But we won a national championship anyway.
So we got Corum, Corum, you know, Donovan. Balaki is one of your sons. Yeah, and we we had good guys. Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. Yeah, but we could have had him this year.
That's true. You know, with Bryce Underwood and Sending him to the next level. I mean, cowboys have reached out to have a lot of people. A couple times, CJ, he's mad. How many times have I told you that?
A couple times, huh? Look, I was over there. Me and Stephen became best friends. Oh, you and your boy Steve? Me and my boy Steve.
Did you see that? No, I was talking to Jeremiah Meghan. Oh, man. Saying, don't worry about it. Careful, don't get cover that up.
What can't happen? Just know there's a bam. Yeah, don't worry about it. I'll be sidelined. Goodness gracious.
Is that his business card? It's someone's. It's someone's. Is that Jerry's business card? Listen, you know, I don't like to give it a business.
By the way, if there's anybody who still has a business card, it's probably one of the Joneses. That's true. But guess what? I've been invited to come down to a game. I'm going to be a thing, though.
Good for you. To get Jeremiah Love, you're going to have to trade up to seven. And let me tell you who's not trading with the Cowboys. Commanders. The Washington football team?
No, you get above the Commanders, you go to the Browns. Why would the Browns want him? I mean everybody would want him dude With all due respect to that. With all due respect to their running back room, Jeremiah Love is a little bit of the creature. But there's a Sonic, and there's a Knuckles, and there's everything else.
Okay. If there's difference making players, it's the end of the story, right? End of story. What are we talking about here? Don't make it too difficult.
I still can't believe what it is. You guys, if you don't really understand, this is really going to bother this man for a long time. It's okay. But you're just like what? Zoinks.
Yeah. Okay, Reggie. Meanie Kimes is joining us next. Yes, she's here. And then Carson Beck, and then I gotta go.
Yeah. Ceciliano will finish up the show. That's right. We're gonna watch you on the plane. That's right.
I'm gonna suit and boot and go do day two. Do what you do. We've got Mini Kimes of ESPN joining in a matter of moments. And then Carson Beck. Don't go anywhere.
