But right now, we've got an actual member of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, fresh off of 11 tackles in Super Bowl 60, Ernest Jones, kind enough to join us here on the program.

Good to see you, Ernest. How are you? Champions here. Doing well. I'm doing well.

How are you? I am doing really well, man, and I'm appreciative of you taking time here. What's the last two days been like for you? Earnest. Man, it's been full of excitement, man.

I'm just blessed, you know, being here second time, you know, feeling this moment. Just want to take it all in and just enjoy it because it took a lot for us to get here. We worked hard, so we deserved it. You know, again, you're referencing obviously to the way your career started with the Rams and second time in terms of a Super Bowl championship. But just for you, at the end of this journey, for you.

Um to do this with this team at this moment. Uh I'd love for you to tell me what's in your gut, your heart. In your mind right now, Ernest. And my heart's the happiest it's been in months, man. It's been a tough time, you know, from getting traded twice to losing my dad.

It's been super hard. But man, this organization they truly don't realize they changed my life, man. This Super Bowl, this thing means everything to me to do it with this group of guys. Like I said, we deserved it, we put the work in, but for me, there's a little personal side to it that. you know, through all the things that I've been through, making it this far has been everything.

Yeah, I'm just looking at the photograph of you celebrating right there on um On the turf on Sunday night. And then, what did you do after this, after getting off the field? Ernest. I think, you know, after the field, I went back to the hotel with the family, kind of, you know, reminisced a little bit and talked about what it took to get here and then. Me and the guys, we did a little party and we had us a little fun.

All right. Any more meat on those bones? Your candidate, any more details? You can imagine. Yeah, I'll say this.

We had a lot of fun, but I'll say this. The guys are recovering today. We got the parade tomorrow, so we're. We're recovering, getting ready to go, you know, do our thing tomorrow as well. All right.

So I'm sure. At which point did you look at your phone and feel the need to call Puka Nakua a goofy ass? When did that happen? I mean, it was crazy to me. One thing about me, and I'm going to stand on this.

You don't, I don't, don't. Don't say nothing about my teammates, nothing. And then you talk about my quarterback. I'm not going for it.

So I get on my phone, and people are texting me telling me congratulations. And this pops up. And I'm the ultimate Ultimate teammate, don't say nothing about my guys, like I said.

So, of course, I had to, you know, to respond to an old teammate of mine. Yeah. And um Yeah, I mean, you've kind of been on record to not go verbally at your quarterback, Ernest. Yeah, I have. You know, and as a matter of fact, the Rams should know because I believe this postgame comment was uttered after your visit to SoFi this year.

If we want to try to define sam by this game or what man, Sam's been had us in every Yeah.

So, for him to sit there and say, Oh, that's my fault. No, it's not. It was plays that defensively we could have made plays. There were opportunities where we could have got better stops. Yeah, I mean, like, it's football, man.

He's our quarterback. We got his back, and. Got anything to say, quite frankly. Hmm. Ha ha ha ha ha.

Yeah, well that perfection. Thank you, thank you.

Well, Ernest, to be uh honest with you, I don't think you needed that quite frankly before those next two words. That was pretty frank in its own right, just standing on its own. Trying to make it a little respectful at the same time. That's funny.

So tell me about Darnold, when you learned about him and what you learned about him and why you caped for him. Like you did. I think I, you know, I was I was kinda I would be like everybody else with an outside perspective. You know, not meeting him, you just hear about, you know, what he's been through in the past.

So once Sam got there, the first thing I had on a Harley Davidson shirt or Harley Davids shirt in the locker room, he made a joke about it. And then at that point, I knew I was like, okay, I can go to war with this guy. He got something to him. He put in the work, and you know, we came to that game, and I believe that was week 11. Yes.

And I knew it was a rough week, a rough game for him, and I knew that he was going to take those shots. And when he came out of that meeting, he said that was his fault. It touched my heart. And nothing's ever his fault. You know, this is a team game, and I and I knew that if I had the opportunity to stand up for my teammate and my boy, I'd do it.

What words I would say, I didn't know, but I'm glad those came out. He did, after that game, say, you know, my fault, or you're saying it to the team in a meeting. Yeah, he can't. He we were walking, like, switching spots at the podium and in between, like, the hallway. He was like, Man, that's on me.

He was like, Man, that's my fault. And right then and there, I told him, I was like, bro, it's never your fault, bro. We could have done so much better to help y'all out, like, and do our job better. And then, you know, went into the podium and said what I said. Let's talk about Super Bowl 60 in itself.

Ernest Jones, the fourth here on the Rich Eisen show, after winning Super Bowl 60 with his teammates. Um did you see on film, okay, we got this. This is a we're we're we're good, we just need to execute, just be ourselves, and this thing's a a wrap. Ernest? I think it was that, but it was also.

I'm The team that I know that we are capable of and and defensively I'm speaking of. I think if we come out there and we're on all ten, there's nobody that can stand with us. And I knew that was gonna be the case in this game. Once guys started treating it like another game and it wasn't the Super Bowl, I knew in my spirit, in my heart, that man, we were going to win this game. And waking up that morning, what was that like?

Going to the stadium in a bus. Showing up Super Bowl, seeing that patch that's right there on your right chest on a on on a jersey, putting it on. What was that like for you? Ernest. Man, I've just reflected.

You know, I hate I couldn't bring my dad to this game. I hate he wasn't there with me, but I was telling a lot of people, man, I felt him with me this week more than I've had since he left. That was last year, right? Your dad passed last year? Yes, sir.

That was last year. Yes, uh, right before, um, training camp and I felt it more than ever and I knew man You know, we had to go through the theatrics of the game, it was a little longer drawn out, but once we got on that field. You could tell in that locker room guy's already in. I knew it was just a matter of time before we were holding our hand up at the end of the night. And so uh when in the game did you know this was uh This was our day.

Was there a reply for you? Um I I Early on in the game, we could tell. It just, we're built on a certain style and a certain way we play. And We weren't getting that. And I could just tell early in the game that we were just, you know, just a little too much at this point.

And what's the sp Secret sauce for your defense. Why is your defense so good, Ernest? Man, I think it's just truly, man, when you got a group of men that truly love each other, and it's not just what we do for each other on the field, it's off the field, there's true connections. Man, a group of us doing that, and all, you know, going towards one goal, that's powerful. And I think that's what it was.

We set our mind on, you know, this season is a failure if we're not the best defense in the league and we aren't, you know, in the Super Bowl.

So we had a goal and we stuck with it. And you showed up in the middle of last season, and what was your first impression of Mike McDonald? that um stands the test over the last year and a half for you. My first impression was like, oh, okay, he's a different guy, but. Man, I think what he's building is gonna work.

And I believed in it. You know, I think it took me a couple of weeks getting around the guys, getting around him, seeing how they operate. And I'm like, okay. This is what it takes. You know, I believe we can win here.

You know, to come back around a year later. A full season with Mike, man, to be at a Super Bowl and to 1-1, it's everything. And there's this, I know, this spear or totem pole in the meeting room, right? Like, he didn't really want to talk about it when I brought it up to him where you take a helmet. Of each team that you vanquish and pop it on there, right?

Right. What is that like? I mean, walk me through that ceremony. What happens when that happens? I think it started early in the year during OTAs.

We had competitions for lifting and running, and it was the tip of the spear.

So basically, you were the guy at the tip of the spear. That was leading the charge that day. And then it transformed into the season, you know, beating teams. We were taking some trophies back with us, which were, you know, we always exchange helmets.

So. The tip of the spear combined with the helmets. We started stacking, stacking, stacking, and it, you know, a lot of winds up there, it'll make that spear look real crazy. Ernest Jones, I've got a celebrity fan who just sat down here. I think you would, Joel McHale, would you like to say something to a Super Bowl champion that you root for, Joel?

I'm speechless, and that never happens. And I can't believe I'm even, I cannot believe I'm you can even see me, Ernest Jones IV. Thank you for what you've done. Thank you for those 11 tackles. That was a masterpiece on Sunday.

My lord, what a season. Thank you. My gosh, I'm going to cry. This is awesome. Of course.

Thank you for having us. Thank y'all. Thank y'all, man. It's been. Big to do this for the twelves, to do this for the fans in the city, man, it's it's everything.

Are you going to be at the parade? Uh In it, at it, whatever, I'm going to be there. How many hours of sleep have you had since Saturday night? Honestly, uh Saturday night.

Okay, that's a good one. That's a great one. I'd imagine you're sitting there, you got one more sleep, you're wondering what's going on. Eight, nine, ten hours in. Like, I slept good on the plane, and then we didn't do much last night.

So I'm going to enjoy tomorrow, though. I'll say that. Did you go to bed? On Sunday night, by the time, like, because you went to Disneyland, was there any sleep?

So, no, I definitely went to sleep. I was up to about four, three, four in the morning, and then I turned it over. Did you ride on the matter horn or did you like, did you go on any roller coasters? This is good for my head right now. This isn't good for me.

Oh, okay. Very good. I love it. You don't have any questions about the actual game itself. I guess there's nothing to ask about it, right?

Look, there hasn't been any analysis of the game since it was on. I'm waiting for it.

So where are you in the parade? Walk me through what you already know about what it is and what you're going to do. Ernest, what is it? You know, they just told us to show up here tomorrow at 8.

So I'll show up here tomorrow with everything needed for the Super Bowl parade. What is needed? What do you bring? What does one bring? You bring some goggles.

You got to make sure there's water on deck because, you know, of course, you're drinking things other than water. Milkshakes. That's true. But Seattle's best coffee.

Okay, goggles, water, water, beforehand, and then just bring good vibes. Do you got gear? You got something picked out?

Something I do. I'm hoping I got a shirt made. Hopefully, it comes through. I won't spill it right now, but hopefully, I can get this shirt made in time for tomorrow. Does it say Pook is a goofy ass on the front?

Is that what it says? That is so great. It does have something to do with my quarterback, though.

Okay. Does it have to do with the sound bite that we played earlier? You may be working on something. Did you see Coach McDonald on Kimmel last night? I did it.

It was great.

Okay, really great. You're so it was way better than your show. No, wait, I'm kidding. You're terrific, Richard. You are amazing.

Yeah, does Kimmel hook you up with a Super Bowl champion? You know what? You're right. You see what I'm saying? You are right.

Come on, you win. You win. You win. Ernest, he just came at the quarterback here. Do you got something you want to say to him?

That's stay forward? Listen, stay off my guy. That's it. I wouldn't use those words, but honestly, my grandfather is so upset that he has to turn on the TV and he sees that F you, he doesn't care for it too much.

Okay. Just keep going. 11 tackles, grandpa. 11 tackles. I love it.

Ernest, thanks for the time, sir. Congratulations. Enjoy the parade. I can't wait to see the shirt. You know, if I can get, if I'm a size large, if you, you know, a size large.

It's in double X for him. That's a no, no, no, no, but yeah, after a Super Bowl week, absolutely. But for real, I brought my 17-year-old son to that game, and we wept like babies at the end of that game. And thank you for. My gosh, you brought it back.

So thanks for bringing it back to Seattle. Thank you. Thank you. Where it belongs. Thanks again, Ernest.

Take care of yourself. You know, obviously, the goal is to repeat and celebrate. in the Rams locker room like you celebrated in the Niners locker room, right, Ernest? That'd be something, huh? Wouldn't it be?

Wouldn't that be perfect for you? I think, yeah, the Forty Niners need to tear down that stadium. Yeah, do you do do do does do the Forty Niners need to at least replace the carpets in their locker room? Ernest? Yeah, carpets, maybe redo the lockers a little bit.

Do a little something.

Okay. All right. To be respectful. Thanks again for the time, Ernest. Thanks again, man.

Thanks, Supervisor. Ernest Jones. Ernest Jones IV, right here. Rich eyes. What else can I do?

My lord, it's great to see you. Can you believe this? I can't wait to chat about it with you. Joel McHale is here, everybody, in support of animal control. On box.

Welcome to Map, Disney Plus. Welcome back, everybody. Joel McHale here on the Rich Eyes. Did you know that I was going to hook you up with the. Here at the producer came in and was like, Do you want to talk to him?

Yeah, and I was like, Yeah, of course. But then I don't get starstruck very much, but when I meet Seahawks, I don't know what to say. I'm not kidding. It's only, it's only with athletes, I think, when I'm like, and like I saw like Jim Zorn at the thing, and I'm always like, Hi, Jim. I'm not Kurt Warner, not the other wonderful Kurt Warner.

Held with a C. Yeah, from I was always like, 14, you were in Craig. Yeah, and he and then he gave me his number. Did he really? And I'm like, this is the worst decision you've ever made.

I'm just going to be sending you clips.

So that's the only time I get. I was like, I don't know what to say.

Now, you mentioned it, you referenced it to Ernest Jones. You brought your son to the game? Yes. So you have instilled your son into the Seahawks fandom? Is what since birth, pretty much?

That's it? Since birth. And I like we were when we went to the Super Bowl against the Broncos, we had dressed, they were chilling, they were tiny, we were dressing them up. Yeah, and Sarah and I went to that one, and that was great. And so that, so it's been, thank God, the Seahawks have been very good for most of his life because I that they, you know, that famous clip of the kid from the at walking out of a Jets game, yeah, which was where he said, I hate this team.

And he's like, why?

Well, I didn't ask for any of this. And so, yeah, that kid should also be, he should go into broadcasting. But yeah, my son and I were sitting there. I mean, it was. We were crying, and it was just, yeah, it was.

I was like, oh, I'll never forget that. Yeah, I mean, my 14-year-old son was at the game. You know, Susie as well. And because he's a die-hard Patriot fan, because Susie's the Patriot fan. And I said to him after that kid's video went viral, and he's like, you know, go ahead, you can hit it, Mike.

I hate this team. We have that as a drop ready to be dropped anytime that it is appropriate. I told him, I'm like, listen, man, one of the greatest things I've ever done for you in your life. Was I did not demand you start following the New York Jets and try and instill that in you. And you were sitting here at the Super Bowl for it.

And.

So, how long did you stay? You stayed for the confetti and the whole thing? Oh, we were there, yes, for hours. No kidding. And then we went to the party afterwards.

What was that like? What was that? Ludacris played. It was great.

And the team showed up. Mike McDonald, I watched him hug his parents. And I was like, this is, I can't. And I kept saying to my son, I was like, Do you have any idea how lucky you are? And then my older brother worked for the Seahawks.

He's one of their electricians.

So he was there. Are you serious? Yeah. He still does, or he did back in the day. He does right now.

What does he do for him? He's an electrician.

So he helps fix Lumen Field and gets that all going and works for the C. Yeah, he fixes all their stuff and makes sure there's no arc flashes or they accidentally electrocute themselves. He's got a crucial role. Oh, yeah. There is a thing.

When I'll talk to him at the end of the day, I was like, How was your day? And he goes, I tried not to blow myself up. And I'm like, what did you do, Joel? I'm like, I wrote a fart joke and tested it out. But he's, yeah, so it was this great.

We were there till like one in the morning, and uh, it was. Oh, man. Yeah, and then we hopped back on a flight and. Isaac, my younger son, was back at school.

So it was, yeah. I can't. You know these. When it works, when it's, it's, your Jets have never. It's been correct.

68, 69? 69. It was Joe Willie Namath won it all. You were what? And it was graduate school?

Good one. Oh, sorry. A good one. I appreciate that. No, I was not yet born.

I was a twinkle. At that point in time. And again, it's it's funny because I guess this is a tradition uh after the Seahawks win a Super Bowl, I've got to see you within 24 to 48 hours. Because I was basically almost stuck in an airport with you and your wife the day after the Super Bowl. Did we talk about that?

Go for it. I'll give you the floor on that if you'd like to.

Well, there was a famous actor there in the lounge. We had a great time in the lounge. We're sitting there just having cheese cubes. They were de-icing the plane. And then, yeah, his wife was yelling and kept calling for Chardonnay, and it was flowing.

And we were sitting there saying, What do we do? We were like, What do we do? What do we do? We just say, grab another Ritz cracker and take another cheese cube and eat it.

So Rich intervened, which I thought was inappropriate. And yeah, so I guess, yeah, I won't. This actor's name rhymes with. I'm not going to. We can't do it.

No, yeah, you can't. No, it would be. You're the actor here. True, thank you.

So it's up to you whether you want to. It rhymes with Rob Gronkowski, my favorite actor. Yeah, we kid. Yeah. I will say, when we're sitting there watching the Super Bowl, and people, when I hear people like, Game's boring the first, like you heard that, and I was like, every second, every moment is tense, and it is.

Like e it's all I mean, it's just like every it's like a ju it's like the World Series, like that's game seven where you're like every step, every so correct, because I I I was ex you know, trying to keep the spirits up of a fourteen year old to my left who thought every single snap Was the end of the Patriots season. And I'm like, dude, it's 6-0. One touchdown, one throw, one Keyshawn Booty one-handed grab of just like, let's just throwing up for grabs and touchdown. And you're winning that, you're leading this game. And the last two playoff wins featured the opposing quarterback making an incredible boneheaded decision deep in his own end to flip the entire script.

I'm like. And Sam Darnold Has had that in him, but that guy never showed. His game managed to. Brilliant. I mean, but it was just, it was just, it was like just like tiny chess pieces moving for that first half.

It was. It was stressful. I don't blame you because it definitely was. I understand from a Patriot point of view, it felt desperate from jump. Yeah.

But for a Seahawk perspective, I imagine it was like, this is going well. This is going really well. It's against the Patriots in the Super Bowl. And the last time I felt things were going well against the Patriots in the Super Bowl, the worst gut punch of gut punches that could ever be conjured up by the football gods happened. Real P2SD.

Did I express your feelings properly? Perfectly. And yeah, so it every inch, every little bit.

So, like, when every time we were kicking, I was like, we can just kick. We can just keep kicking field goals. Let's just stop on third down and just kick another field goal. We're doing great. Because Jason Myers was a kicker.

And obviously, Dixon just. He was great, too. The coffin corner punt that kind of stunted some of the best punter in the history of the NFL. He would say, right. I love it.

And by the way, Jason Myers outscored the Patriots 17 to 13.

So just his points alone. Alone would have been a four-point win. Wouldn't have covered, though, right? Did Jason Myers did not cover? Jason Myers did not cover it.

But the other 52, he did. When they pulled out the fact, they're like, oh, the Patriots haven't scored in, because they didn't score until the fourth quarter. Correct. I was like, I didn't even, we were, the Seattle sections, we were not thinking of that. We were just like, we have to.

I was like, we got to keep going. We've got to just get this thing. 19-7. A little nervous? Yes!

Little nervous. Yeah, I was anything in that game. Yeah, anything could happen. But then, like, when I saw Julian Love afterwards, and I saw him afterwards, but I saw him interviewed. I did see him afterwards.

I have he had, he was such a nice man and really gracious. I can't believe it. But he was like, no, we knew during the first quarter that we had him. I was like, oh, then when you look back, I'm like, oh, they did. It was.

I know. And I was like, what a freaking performance. I mean, well, I'll tell you, 19-0. That half-streaker comes on the field.

Okay, stops the game. Yeah. And then the security guard, did you see the security guard slipped and fell like three times, like a Pratt fall, like a Penny Hill open?

So I think he blew his hamstring out.

Something happened because he couldn't get off. He couldn't get off the field. I'm telling you, it was one of the weirdest things. I turned to Susie and I said. If the Patriots come back and win this game, it'll be called the streaker game.

And they're going to find that guy and build a statue of that guy in Boston. And then two passes later. Matt Collins is in the end zone to make it 19-7. Susie looked at me like, What the hell are you? What the hell just started?

Genie. And then they got the ball back. Yeah. It did look good for you because Marcus Jones called for a fair catch, didn't grab it, and then the ball wound up again with Michael Dixon doing his magic inside the five. And then you got further down the field.

That's when Julian Love stepped in. That's when, you know, and but in those moments, you had to sit there and go, it's happening. I thought, oh no, I literally was like, you got to be kidding me. We are going, it's going well. But and the streaker, whatever, I don't know what he was thinking.

But I was like, if you're going to streak. Yeah. Get fully naked. Don't come on. Don't just go shirtless.

Then you just look like a guy who's maybe at a resort or something. But apparently there was two of them. I didn't know that. And one was stopped very early on. That's what I was told.

I didn't know that. And that dude, I mean, as everyone said, obviously they don't show it on TV, but very athletic. He did. He had an escape ability. There were four blue-shirted security guards that I thought had him.

And then he got out the gate and Kyle Williams said, not today. And that's when a Patriot. chased him down and ended the ended it. We should have signed the guy. He was good moves.

We needed him. Then he had something painted on him. Didn't he?

Something. It was a message, whatever. But you're right. He didn't commit. I didn't even think about that.

You're right. That's a good take. But you're full of streaker takes, huh? Yeah, I was like, the 70s really proved that streaking was an art. And I know they clamped down for, but come on, if you're going to get out there.

And that poor, it was like, yeah, it was like I said, that poor. I hope. Do we have an update on the security guard? I don't know, but that. That was the wildest part of it because it was over streaker out.

And then everybody gets ready to play again. And I'm telling you, the security guard kept falling and getting and then falling and falling. Like, I thought it was another bit. Yeah. I thought he might have blown out as Achilles.

It didn't look good for him. Because it's one of those things where he thought, I'm fine, and then it just collapsed and he'd be taken off the field.

So Joel McHale here on the market. And then he was sacrificed. Which I thought was horrible. Oh, my God. I'm sorry, Darling.

No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, not at all. That when I talk to fans, diehards, of a team that is performing better than they think and then go even further and winning it all, they have got a certain sense about what they love about the team. Just this iteration of it.

So what what do you Love about this 2025 Seahawk team outside of, you know, obviously uniform design. I think they're nailing it. I do think we have. Oh, the old school Chuck Knox era stuff. I have worn that in Super Bowl 60, man.

That would have been amazing. I don't know if there's other than the kind of hot lime green, which are fine. We can be spotted in space. But yeah, I think our uniforms are better than anyone's. You've got a great uniform.

We really do. This team, boy, it is. I didn't realize all that dark side stuff that they were like, we're going to dark side. And then I was like, oh, we have that too? Good.

We have that. We got Legion of Boom. We have Dark Side. Great. But I know that.

Like Mike McDonald obviously created, and John Schneider created this culture that it's who they're they seem like the nicest guys, and then. I ran into Matthew Lillard at the pre-party. Name dropped Scream 7 coming out. On February 27th. And he was like, his wife was like, We went to one of the practices and she was like, they were all so kind to us.

They were all so cool. No one was, and there doesn't seem to be any, as we were talking earlier, any insane people. And they just like, and they just seem really kind and they got each other's backs, just like Ernest Jones did for Sam Darnold. And it seems, it's just like this little bit of magic that, and I think that, you know, with Mike McDonald saying he doesn't care who they You know, doesn't care who they play. And I was like, Yeah, that's that.

And our children, there's Schneider, nice man. I still haven't met Mike McDonald. Never met him. I'm excited to.

Okay. If I forget his name. And when he was looking around, like right after he shook the hand of Rabel and just kind of looked around, I was like, wow, what a wonderful. It hit him. I'm going to cry again.

See, it's happening again, guys. But it seems, I know that. The conversation starts so fast with analysts where they're 10 minutes after, like, yeah, but what are they going to do next year? Right, I know. And it was like, this moment is, yeah, it was, it really, the amount of joy that it gives Seattle and is just, yeah, it's crazy.

I know that there's so many people tuning out right now. No, no, not at all. Seattle is. Again, Joel, you're giving voice to not only everybody that roots for Seattle, but. I mean, 31 other fan bases want to feel like you too.

Yeah, it's they want to have a moment. There's so many people. It's great. You can confirm. It's great.

And I grew up in a time in Seattle when in the 70s, when we first moved there, where it literally said, with the last person in Seattle, please turn the lights out. Because it was during the OPEC thing. And so, and Weyerhauser and Boeing were down. And then Seattle slowly started making its way culturally and made its own music. And then, of course, Microsoft, Amazon, Nintendo, Starbucks, and all that started coming.

Bruce Lee, thank you. And then, of course, most recently, we invented pickleball.

So it's gone well. And we did invent pickleball, Bainbridge Island.

So did you know that? Did you know that, Chris? I did not. Did you? Did you know?

I did not. I came to LA 24 years ago and I'd be like, you guys want to play pickleball? And people looked at me like, what? Like it was some sort of weird innuendo. And then.

And then now it's being banned because of that tinking noise. Yeah, same thing with the Waymos making noise when they get charged up. You know, when do you guys sleep? Never. By the way, I've Ernest Jones got me beat eight hours over the last three days?

Yeah, that's a long time game. I have another question for you. Yes. So I watch the show, guys. And when you're like, okay, here we go with the Seahawks fan.

Like, you're like, I know I said this earlier because it seemed like which fan base comes down the hardest on you? Like, gives you more crap. Seahawks have been pretty tough to see. Yeah, I mean, listen, because I have every right to sit here and say a 10-win team that missed the playoffs last year with Sam Darnold coming in. I do need to see more of it.

I needed to see more of it. I thought the Rams were the best team in the NFL for much of the year. Stafford was clearly the MVP of the league, and the way that he performed against this defense that is generationally great, I think, proved my vote correct. But the minute I started giving due, it was. was after the Rams game.

And in week 16, Mike McDonald came on the show. I'll say hi to him before you next time. I might go to the parade somewhere. But no, they gave me some grief. Are they ever the most vocal or is it?

No, no, no, no. Steelers fans. Steelers fans give me crap for cape and for Tomlinson. 49ers fans. 49ers fans sometimes.

Jaguars fans when I throw to commercial break when they're on the clock in the draft and I have nothing to do with that sort of stuff. But it's all good. Again, fan is the root of fanatic, sir.

So I get it. And do you guys think Charbonnet will be okay for next year? I hope so. I hope so. He also was.

He doesn't get mentioned enough that how much he can now. I mean, obviously, he couldn't play, so, but yeah, hopefully. Let's talk about your stuff before you have to go. I'm not leaving. I've been told you have to.

You remember when I hosted this thing a few years ago? I still feel bad about swinging the golf club in there. I'm like, what was I thinking? This sound like an insane person.

So I apologize. You can do this again whenever you want. And Animal Control Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Fox. On Fox.

I love the cones, man. That was because we all had worms. No. It had nothing to do with the show. I just didn't know that you had a scab on your knee that bite it.

Scream 7, you just referenced it. Scream 7 mentioned Matthew Lillard. Yes. Who's probably also on Cloud9 right now? Oh my gosh.

And a very kind man. Yeah, he was here in his chair about six weeks ago.

So that's coming out, Scream 7. That's pretty cool. Then you're going to have to watch the 1% Club on Fox Guys in April.

Okay. Which is puzzles. House of Villains premiere. House of Villains starts next week on Peacock. You are the host.

Yes. It's odd that Fox is giving you shows. When do they ever give you shows? Right. Well, that's Peacock.

Well, I understand that. But thank God, Fox. Thank you, Fox, for letting me be on the air. Joel McHale, man. I have a good time.

I love it. Dude, we. I mean, look at this makeup. Yeah, I get hair and makeup. It's great.

What was the craziest thing on TalkSoup in the history of TalkSoup? I think when. For you. Danny Bonaducci came on and he was sober, but we were, he had, because he was in on the show, he did a lot of martial arts stuff. And so he was like, I I want to come on the show and break a board over my head.

And we're like, okay, that's great. And then this seems safe. And there was a time, folks, when their basic cable, you could just do anything. There were no rules. And He brought the board himself.

Oh, you see, B-Y-O-B. Which was smart. Like, you don't get someone else's board. You're just going to show up. The E-channel's going to be in charge of the board.

You're going to smash in your head. And it was a solid 2x4.

Okay. And the. First time I hit him over the head with it, it didn't break. Oh, wait a minute. I thought he.

No, I hit him and then he was wait a minute. And he was so he was like, I want you to break it over my head, over the top of my head. And I hit him. It didn't break. And then he was like.

Hit me again. And then it did break, but he was. Clearly dazed. Blue tent? If there was a blue tent on the suit?

Oh, he was so confused. He'd have been in the blue tent. It was and I to his great credit, he stayed on camera, but I was like, I think He, we've injured him, or I have. I guess I could be sued, but it would, that was, that popped into mind as like, wow, he really, he really went for it, and uh, and it worked. I remember Tila Tequila came on and we gave her Artist of the Year, and I said, I will, I'm sorry that we never gave it to you.

Um, artist of the year, that is so funny. Uh, and I wore a hazmat suit. To give her the award, I handed it to her with tongs because I didn't want to, and she agreed to all of it. And then I remember. We had the cast of.

We were showing. We had the cast of Mad Man on. And then LeVar Burton was also available.

Okay. And then we were like, we'll just have you all on. And then. He improvised it. Like the cast introduced themselves, and then LeVar Burton goes, I'm the redhead.

And it was so funny. Cam was part of it? Ham was not. No, Cam was not there. He was busy receiving many awards at the time.

The creator was that. Yeah, it was great.

So what a wacky. Oh, I think also when Eminem wanted to be on the show, that was. Really, I was like, wait, M M watches? Also, an incredible NFL analyst, Eminem is. And I was like, this is what a weird thing.

Dude. It was an incredible run and I I always enjoyed it. It's been off the air for 10 years. Has that really been a good idea? More you must have people who bring it up to you all the time, though.

Still, no, no, yeah, those that are still alive.

Okay, great. I'm glad that I was alive enough to bring you in. And, Rich, I know you don't hear that. I mean, you are one of the greatest.

Okay, I'm not going to, I'm not trying to buy back. It's just like, yeah, there's nobody. There's nobody that has been around as like doing what you've been doing for as well as you've done it for this long. All right, stop. I'm stopping there.

Look, are you still? I assume it's too. Yeah, I'll take it all. I feel the same way about you, John. You were used your selection of vocabulary alone is yesterday, you were like marauded.

Yes, they marauded. And I was like, good one. Dude, that's like, I described your defense. That was like a perfect. I was like, that's it.

Thank you, sir. I appreciate it. Syntax and all. Animal Control airs Thursday, 9 p.m. Eastern on Fox, currently in season four.

Season three of House of Villains premieres February 26th on Peacock. And Scream 7, available in theaters, the new Paramount film. That'll be a nationwide. Release on the final Friday of this month. Only in theater.

February 27th. Only in theaters. Great to see you, Joel McHale. Thank you for having me. Go Hawks.

Go Hawks in Hawks. Yeah, sorry, there's Patriot fans here.

Sorry, whose house? Hawks. Where's the golf club? Oh. Oh.

Okay, let's take a quick call. Alex in Seattle, Washington. Finish up. It's a very Seattle show. What's up, Alex?

Hey Rich, how's it going? We got about a minute for you. What do you got in your mind? Perfect. Yeah, I think Seattle is a dynasty brew.

And they got they have one of the youngest teams in the league. They've got the sixth most cap space in the league next year. I think they add Max Crosby, and they're back, and I'm calling you again this time next year. Just add Max. Yeah.

I'm telling you. I know it sounds crazy, right? But we've got all the cap space to do it. We've got Kenneth Walker. We're going to re sign him.

We can let Boyer Mafe walk and Max Crosby's ours. And I'll tell you what, we were a field goal away from winning fifteen in a row to end this season.

So I think we're talking about one of the best teams ever. Alex in Seattle. It's kind of tough to push back. Obviously, we'll have to see. We'll have to see.

We'll have to see. And.

I find it that Clint Kubiak, who was just named today, and thanks for the call, Alex. Clint Kubiak, just named today. As the Raiders head coach, first phone call, if he hasn't already made it, is to Max Crosby and say, let's talk. Before anything happens here, if there's any rumor that he really has told Brady, I don't ever play here again, I'm done. I can't imagine that Humpty Dumpty can't be put back together.

But if they do trade him, Um They they definitely want to send him to the NFC. That's for sure. And then, in terms of a dynasty in the making, let's take it one at a time. And in terms of one at a time, we do this every single year, the Tuesday after the Super Bowl. Where we take a look at next year's opponents for the Super Bowl winner and take a stab.

At who we think will be and should be. It's two different things. The opener. For a banner raise night, To open up the following season. Last year, though, when we put up the Eagles' opponents, I didn't think in a million years they'd put the Cowboys there.

But let's see.

Well, get ready. Who are the opponents? And they are the Cowboys. Yeah, exactly. Dude, the Chiefs there.

No Mahomes. That's true. So put them aside. The Super Bowl rematch. I think the Bears, that's the one.

Oh, it's a Super Bowl rematch. I doubt they'll do that. I doubt though. John Harbaugh's first game as a Giant. That's not that big of a deal in terms of Seattle versus the Giants.

I think the Bears. It's either Rams or Bears. Rams or Bears. But inner, I don't know if they're. We've seen the division game before.

Well, part of the reason why they put the Cowboys in. Philadelphia starts the season, as we heard from the guy who puts the schedule together, the executive in charge in the NFL, Mike North, was that there were so many other compelling matchups because the AFC and the NFC North played one another that they were able to spread things around and put a piece of filet mignon like that on the opening night. I don't know what it is. I would choose the Bears. TJ, who would you choose?

The Bears? I mean, it depends. You want everybody to watch the game?

Okay, I got a Cowboys. What do you think? You know? What do you think? I'm going Rams.

They played three outstanding games this year with each other. I like the Rams too. But there are some juicy choices. You might want to introduce the world to Caleb Williams. Thanks for taking it in the good one.
