4/7/25 - Hour 3

Rich and the guys debate if Colorado teammates Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders will both go in the top 3 in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Former Raiders GM Mike Mayock tells Rich his top takeaways from Shedeur Sanders’ Colorado pro day, if Travis Hunter can play WR and CB in the NFL, why Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty would be a great fit for the Las Vegas Raiders, and breaks down the NFL Draft options for the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Chicago Bears.

Ladies and gentlemen, get ready. Check this out. This is the Rich Eisen Show. Live from the Rich Eisen Show Studio in Los Angeles. The Rich Eisen Show. Earlier on the show, Oregon quarterback Dylan Gabriel. Coming up, Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord. Former NFL general manager Mike Mayock. And now it's Rich Eisen.

That's right. Hour number three of the Rich Eisen Show is on the air. Unfortunately Kyle McCord has had to reschedule so we'll have to get him at another time. The evaluation portion of his calendar is heating up so apparently he needed to tap out talking to us in order to talk to a team that's reaching out and I hope it works out for him.

All right. I mean, we're important but that might be a priority. Listen, we're not going to give him a job. You know what I mean?

Maybe he knows. Well he might be a good graphic artist or something. Well it's, you know, my school.

Audio engineer. My school beating him got him into a better job. Sure did. And it delivered us the greatest ACC quarterback season of all time.

And I'm sure, you know, there are some Ohio State people saying, well, Will Howard did pretty good. You have an incredible way to weave Michigan in that. I'll do it anytime. I love it. I mean, I'm being serious. It's incredible. You know, I'll tell you.

That's true. I have a gift. Bro, you don't get your name on a mug without a gift. You know what I'm saying?

I appreciate it. Like I ain't got my name on the mug. You know, Del Tufo. Kurt Brockman's got his name on a mug though.

Has anybody found my wedding ring yet? And another thing about it. Remember TJ, do you remember? I'm sure you do. It just feels so weird. I feel bad for you.

Remember MTV spring break the one year Tyrese had, what is it, the chain or the watch fell off and then everyone was diving into the wind trying to find it. Oh, everyone, everyone that was with us was diving in and I was just freaking out. Shallow water, like pretty shallow water and it's like pretty blue, right? It's so beautiful. It's like swimming in a pool. Like, you know, I thought I would find it instantly. Not a pond?

No, no, no, no. You know, it's like the water is so beautiful there in the Bahamas. It's perfect.

Yeah. I thought I would find it, but it's, again, it's near this, uh, this downed plane near the, uh, the, uh, uh, thunderball grotto. I can tell you where it is. I just don't, I just, I, in its proximity, I see a boat ride.

Honestly, it's a silver wedding ring. Please find it. Send it back.

This world is so weird. I'm just glad I didn't lose. You might, you're going to get that back.

I don't know how, you never know. You know, I'm just glad badge in the water. I found it like three or four weeks later.

Are you just trying to be involved in the conversation? I lost my badge while swimming and it was returned like three or four weeks because it was in my, it was in my, my, my swim shorts. Why would your, why would you have my badge be in your swim shorts just in case I was like, uh, had a couple of nights trying to stunt for the ladies. So he's at the, you know, he's like, Oh baby, look, I found the badge about three weeks later. Cause it came in the mail, but didn't your mail to the police headquarters. They send it back to the police headquarters.

By the way, this is great. I was about to say, did you show up to work and say, I lost my badge? Oh, I had to call them. Oh, that's a big, I lost like three or five days of pay. I got like suspended. I was, I was an F up cop. The only thing you could have done was lose your gun.

I did that once. Oh, fell off me. This is the worst. And I'm supposed to feel safe. I'm supposed to feel safe on these streets.

This is the worst draft of Copland. I've heard of. All right, I'm done. New Jersey. I can't make this up. I know a New Jersey cop loses his badge because he went swimming with it and then Louis lost his gun because it fell off and then wrecked his car into a tree and wrapped his car on a tree.

But that wasn't the police car. Did you see they're doing a naked gun right now? That is going to be so funny. I do look forward to it.

I do look forward to that. Yeah. So someone could return that. That's moral of the story, by the way, listen, I just told you name in it.

Is there anything in it? Yeah. The date of our wedding. Oh, there you go.

So somebody. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, what's that date?

Um, June 7th, 2003. What a jerk. Oh my God. I'm just trying to catch him slipping.

And again, I am just glad I didn't lose Susie's favorite pair of sunglasses because a split moment during our trip, she was more upset about that. You would have went the way of somebody last night. Why are you making that smoothie? Let's take some phone calls. Andrew in Austin, Texas. You're here in the rich guys show. What's up, Andrew?

Hey, Rich. I called a few months ago and told you about going to visit the University of Michigan. I was going to battle Creek with my daughter tournament. Okay.

Postscript. If you were to go to USA gymnastics and look for women's, uh, I think it's 13 to 14. She is the number one ranked trampolina. Yeah. Okay.

Yeah. I was, I was, I was super proud. And on the, uh, and unfortunately our plane got delayed, but that just gave me an excuse to drive to Detroit.

And we went through Ann Arbor and drove downtown and walked around the campus. She liked it. She liked it quite a bit. I was higher register.

It would have been a lot nicer if there had been no higher register. I mean, did she like it or did she not Andrew? She's had to have liked it. I think, I think she was, I think she was thinking because I showed her all these pictures where there was a couple of snow on the ground and I just thought she had this vision of, you know, the winter time wonder of, of up north since we're from Austin.

And so I think that threw her off for a bit, but she's still looking. Okay. Good. Listen, I'll get her a snow globe. That's what she's looking for.

You know what I mean? Yeah. You told me to call back and let you know how it went. Fantastic.

Well, we got to go proud of her. Okay. Now mother, that's fantastic. Awesome, man. Awesome. Congratulations on her success, Andrew.

Thank you. And by the way, TJ, thank you for doing Tom Grossie's fundraiser. I was, oh, you saw it.

I was watching that and I saw, I saw a familiar face pop up. He zoomed in and helped TJ helped raise a million dollars for children of wounded or soldiers. Okay.

Great. Tom's very, very charitable, very charity minded. Thanks for the call, Andrew. Greatly appreciate it as he did for St. Jude. He visited like whatever he football stadium for St. Jude.

And this one was like to raise money for children of vets who, you know, maybe parents passed away, helped them go to college, you know, just, just a great organization. What'd you add to the, to the broadcast TJ? All right. Well, you want to hear something funny? Always. All right.

So it can't be funnier than losing your badge or having a gun fall out when you're a cop in New Jersey. So I guess with Tom, people with Tom have a thing for feet because Tom was telling me that people were asking to see people's feet and donating money. Now, you know me, I'm like, that's kind of odd, but sure. He goes, well, how much did I say? I'm not showing my feet. I'm like, but everyone that knows me knows my socks are pretty dope and sounds like cool. So I'll show my socks.

It sounds something like Sam Rockwell was saying that far. So he goes, what would you do it for? And I said, I don't know, 200 bucks.

He goes, no, that's too little. Somebody donated $1,000 just for me to show my socks. Wow. So I, I'm like, I was like, absolutely. So I just kicked my shoe off and threw my sock up and the guy gave a thousand bucks. This is pretty amazing. It's weird.

A little bit strange, but the money's real. So I had to do it for the kids. I mean, he should have said double it and I'll take the sock off. No, I'm not going now. All right. Very good.

I think maybe stance should send me some new socks now, you know, so a overreaction Monday, the pod is out. It's up. It's it's in there.

It's up there. It's out there. You're listening. We're talking, you're listening. And and we, we, we talked about this a little bit on the pod, so you might as well bring it to here. And it's based on Chidoor Sanders pro day or what is it?

It's a showcase showcase. As you know, Dion's got two items up for bid on the top five picks of the draft to use that phrase. And one is his son Chidoor and another is Travis Hunter, a defacto child of his. And Dion thinks they should go one, two. I think we have the most qualified guys in the draft.

They're not a risk. Like Chidoor has been doing it year after year after year after year. Chidoor has laid college football in this, this, this, this. Travis ain't nobody like Travis. So the surest bets in this draft, in this draft, I'm not a betting man. I'm a golly man.

But the surest bets in this draft are those two young men. And I didn't start a little stabbing when I said that, did I? All right, backdrop. Let's go.

Well, first of all, I would never nitpick with Dion, but I, I've gambled with him. You can't put them out there like that. Wow. In the town where his children will be drafted. Oh, in green bed. We play blackjack. Oh, interesting.

After a Thursday night football game, waiting for our flight to take off. All right. Yes. Yeah. That, that happened. And this is way before this is the age of innocence where we didn't, you know, we, we didn't tell anybody.

Didn't think it was a problem, you know, gambling blackjack. Oh yeah. We were all doing it. Oh yeah. I think, is that where you got the Terry Pendleton Chris Wertz was playing the, the last position and he was killing it, making terrific decisions.

And Dion said it was the greatest playing of third base he's seen since Terry Pendleton. That's right. We did know that. So yeah, I mean, but overall he is not a gambling guy. Right. And to just, I guess, go further what he said, he, he went a little deeper in another interview. He said basically like with Travis and Chidor, you're never going to get a call that they're out doing something late night. All Travis wants to do is play video games and football and all Chidor wants to do is make music. So that was kind of like what he meant by sure bets. Like you always say, you're not getting that call in the middle of the night about your quarterback or your player doing something dumb. Right.

But you, you know what you're going to get. Like you're not, you're, you're, but let's, let's, let's just put Chidor aside for just a split second. He is not wrong about Travis Hunter. There is nobody like him.

There is no comparison. We cannot, I have been doing this since 2003, the, this being the talent evaluation portion, the day to day on NFL network, all of that. I don't recall another time where I'm at a combine and somebody is of Daniel Jeremiah's knowledge and belief. Saying, that's the top wide receiver in the draft. He's also the top cornerback in the draft. That's the first time that's ever happened to the point where we're like, okay, he should have had a zip up where it's W O whatever the number is and DB, whatever the number is, because if he was working out there, he would have worked out with the receiver group and he would have worked out with the defensive back group.

He would have had a multiple, you know, he would have had a multiple of, you know, he would have had a residency in Indianapolis for the week. He's that good. And Deion's not wrong when he's like, you've got to play him both sides of the football because if you are a coach and you're struggling for points and you've got your best wide receiver standing next to you, cause he's just a defender, or you need to stop and you've got your best wide receiver next to you because he's just a receiver, then you're the fool and it will cost you. You've got to have this kid out there in the fourth quarter. He's got to play every snap, doesn't he? If there's, if it's a one possession game. Kind of physically pretty tough though. I don't know. You know, Jason can rebound pretty fast.

How long is he? Jason Cabinda, you know, he was a guest last week with Andrew and he made some valid points about just how playbook's so much different at the next level. The physicality is so much different and you know, and he's not saying he can't do it, but just to play every play, every down.

Well, I'm not saying he's playing all four quarters that way, but in the fourth quarter playoff game, you would, it's not like, Hey, we'll get you in the code tub tomorrow. Okay. Stay on the field. Yeah.

Get out there. Stay on the field. And so normally that would be the first overall pick in a draft, unless you're a quarterback, needy team, which is why cam ward is the conversation in, in, in Tennessee, because should doors conversation. There's one of these kids in every draft, one of these kids in every draft where it's just like, yeah, but yeah, but yeah, but, and it's just like, yeah, but he didn't work out. Yeah. But his zooms were, he wasn't enthusiastic. Yeah, but he's not tall. He's not this. He's not that. Yeah.

But what was the one over the weekend that he pats the ball? So we know where he's throwing it, you know? Yeah. But, and it sure looks like should door is the yeah, but kid of this draft. Yeah. But you know, he's the odds kid. So of course he's going to talk about, yeah, but he needed his dad to be his coach. Yeah. But he's, uh, he's not into football as much as he should be because he's into himself. You know what I mean?

And then at some point the kid will work out and then all of a sudden it's like, Oh, okay. And that's what the should door showcase was kind of about. And now you're hearing, well, the Brown send their entire brass to go have dinner with them and all that sort of thing. And I know Dion saying he, he should be, they should be one, two. So, so the Titans should stick with Will Levis and go for Travis and then the Brown should go get your door. Now, if, if Will Levis only had a better first year, I guess, as a full-time starter, that would be possible.

I just don't think the Tennessee Titans are going to go something other than quarterback and its decision like cam ward or should door there. I, I just don't see it being one too, as much as Dion. I get what he is saying. And I understand it. Part of that is the showcasing. All right, let's not call it a pro day. It's a showcase.

I get it. And if they do go one too, that would be amazing. It would be shocking. Then cam ward would be in the NFC East.

That's for damn sure. And Abdul Carter would be a Patriot. Now that, that would happen. Sign me up.

Or I, I, I, I can't imagine Travis Hunter getting past the giants. No way. I can't imagine unless they are sold on should door. Then they go get your door. Yeah.

It'd be pretty stunning. If Travis Hunter is not one of the top three picks at this point, because if you're Dion, why wouldn't you want your door to go to New York city and then, and then have Russell show him some ropes in the quarterback room with day ball being the coach. And I know dables on a hot seat, but dables an excellent coach, but that's my opinion of having heard Dion say he's not a gambling man. First of all, I mean, I I've seen, I've seen the man split eights, of course, it gets to seven. And if you want the odds, the odds rich came, ward is minus 20,000. Travis Hunter minus two 50 to go number two and Abdul Carter minus one 80 to go number three. Wow. So Travis Hunter is currently the, the odds on favorite to go second overall to the grounds. Yeah. Yeah. Where's your doors odds? What is your door to go?

Number two is 15 to one and Abdul Carter's plus one 70. So right now this is just nonsense. I mean, it's total nonsense. It's total nonsense. Nobody knows what's in the Cleveland Browns mind in their draft room.

Who's making those. They have no idea. We have the Browns technically employee here last week and he couldn't tell us why would anybody bet on what the Cleveland Browns are thinking when they once upon a time drafted a quarterback. Cause apparently a person on the street told them to please explain Johnny Manziel got drafted because the homeless guy talked to apparently I'd never heard. I'm not saying that's in concrete, but all right, let's odds are the team that drafts your door is the saints at the favorite plus two 70 that he'll still be there at nine or they move up. Just the they're the team to take knowing that Tom Brady and Chidor have this relationship. Do we really think he gets past the Raiders? Great question. I mean, well, let's talk to Mike Mayock about it.

I'm sure he's a tune to the betting, the betting numbers for short, the man who puts the tool in such a thing. Every day when we're on the road, people around us endanger themselves and others by using their phones while driving. They think they're hiding it, but we've all seen them and know exactly who they are. For instance, there's the sneaker peaker who darts their eyes between the road and their texts. There's also the got a ticketer looking upset because they just got a ticket for using their phone while driving. And what about the fast scroller who can't drive five minutes without updating their social feeds or the nightlighter who has that mysterious glow illuminating the inside of their car after dark.

Do any of these sound familiar? If they remind you of yourself or someone you know, rethink your behavior before you find yourself becoming the fender bender, the veering off the rotor, or worst of all, the driver who killed someone. Put the phone away or pay, paid for by NHTSA.

My nephew, Lee, when I spoke to him last night, he goes, I've been watching on the show. He's really enjoying the conversations with you and Mayock. And I'm like, so am I. So let's bring him on. What's up, Mike?

You there? Hey, Rich. I just had one quick question. Before you went to break, did you call me a tool? Nope, I did not. I said you put the dual, like D-U-E-L. That was my, because I would never call you a tool, Mike, ever. Except a tool to make me smarter. You know what I mean?

No, I don't think so. In all seriousness, though, in like a couple of minutes I have here, like what gave you the indication all those years ago that Rogers was dropping to the Packers 24th overall? Like what were you working on with that?

I am. And I knew that if I went public with it, I'd be ridiculed. And at the end of the day, it was like my dad, the old high school coach told me years ago before it passed away, he's like, if you're going to be wrong, be wrong for your own convictions.

Don't be wrong because of what other people think. And it was him and Smith. Alex Smith, yeah. Yeah, it was him and Smith, one or two.

And I thought Alex was going to go one. And then as I went through and tried to match up players and teams, there's a lot of things that go into it, including and I think there's an apps or a conversation here that's similar, including teams that have head coaches and or GMs on a hot seat. And part of the Aaron Rogers thing for me was several teams in that draft had to win now or their head coaches were getting fired. And I think whether you want to admit it or not, I think when you're in a building and you're trying to compete and you can talk yourself into it pretty easily, hey, we can be better this year. We can be a playoff team this year if we draft so-and-so. If we draft the rookie quarterback, he might not even get on the field this year.

So we're not going to be better at all. So that's one of the reasons there is kind of an argument for GMs and head coaches being staggered as far as what their contract term looks like so the GM can have a bigger picture on the franchise. But Rich, that's a real thing. And that's part of kind of went into the area. It was only a part of it, trying to find the right fits with the right team. But every time I got to a team where I thought he could fit, I thought there was a head coach on the hot seat that had to win now.

And I pushed him down again. Well, I mean, part of the reason why I bring it up, Mike, is twofold. One, it helped put NFL Network draft coverage on the map, where it legitimized us as a spot where we had knowledge and we had conviction and we had the ability to make you smarter. And then you made us all look really smart by nailing the fact that Aaron Rodgers not only wasn't going to be first overall, it was going to be Alex Smith to the 49ers, that he would drop all the way to 24 and be selected by the team that had the iron man of the sport sitting there.

And that was big for us. But I'm also bringing it up now, Mike, because it kind of feels like, for the lack of a better analogy, Shadore Sanders is in the spot of, well, it's going to be Cam Ward number one overall. And who knows where this kid winds up? Because it might be, as you point out with Rodgers, team dependent, scheme dependent, general manager dependent, who's willing to work with somebody who might not be starting right now or winning right now. So I'm wondering where you stand on Shadore Sanders now that he is done with his workouts and we're 17 days away from finding out an answer to this question. Mike.

As we stare this draft in the face and you and I can kind of go through the top eight or nine teams, if you want, and kind of talk about where their heads are. But I look at Shadore and the pro day really changed nothing for me. And for most people around the league, I don't think he throws a beautiful deep ball.

He can drop it in a bucket. I thought that was the highlight for him. I think there were no major red flags, nor was there any major advancement. Oh, we never saw that. And he's the savior. So I don't think the pro day really changed anything other than confirm a lot of stuff about him.

Here's my concern, Rich. I think sometimes we let draft position trump the correct fit. And the irony of, say, Aaron Rodgers is he ended up in the right place, even with all the Brett Favre stuff. He had to see what he had to call the Brett Favre stuff. He had to sit for a while.

He learned his craft. He's a he's a first ballot Hall of Famer. I mean, Andy Reid traded up to 10 to get Patrick Mahomes and he ended up in the right place. The Baltimore Ravens traded up to 32 to get Lamar Jackson.

Think of that. Lamar Jackson at 32. They already had drafted a tight end at 26 or whatever. So I don't I think Chidor might slide a bit here, Rich. I don't think he's going in the first nine. And I have a concern beyond that how far it will go.

And you start talking about fit. And, you know, I think Pittsburgh is a really intriguing fit for him. I like Mike Tomlin.

I like Arthur Smith. They need a young quarterback. Even with Aaron Rodgers, it'd be an awesome fit for the kid to come in and learn. And just about every quarterback in college football coming into the NFL is not ready for prime time. They're just not ready. You know, there's so many things they have to learn. And trying to force feed them in day one is difficult.

So we can get into all the minutiae we want. But I'm concerned. I just want a right fit for the kid. I like the kid. I like his dad.

I want him to end up in the right place regardless of what the number is in what round. Okay, so a couple follow-ups. 21 is a long way to drop. That is for sure. Which is where the Steelers are. Do you think Chidor is quarterback number two drafted overall? Do you think he's going to be the second quarterback drafted or does somebody go in front of him at the position to keep dropping? I think he's probably the second quarterback drafted. I think Jackson Dart is the third.

Okay. And in terms of the fit then, give me some teams where you think it is the right fit for Chidor Sanders to land. Look, if the Saints took him at nine with Kellen Moore, that'd be kind of cool. And knowing Derek Carr personally, what kind of person he is, what kind of quarterback he is, I think for Chidor to be at work with him, it would be really cool. But, you know, you look at that franchise, Mickey Loomis has been there a while.

Mickey's a smart guy. Derek Carr is probably not going anywhere this year. And next year he enters the guaranteed phase of his contract. They want to win now. And they also have Spencer Rattler, who's a pretty good football player. So they're going to look for Kellen Moore to tell them what they think about those two incumbent quarterbacks. But Mickey Loomis brought them both into the building.

And Mickey's been there forever. So I kind of feel like they're going to ride through this year and not take a quarterback. Although if they took him, I think it'd be a good fit for him. I think 21 and the Steelers are a good fit for him. I think anywhere where he's got a chance to learn, like the Rams, I think would be a great fit for him. The Rams, you know, they're at 26. They don't have a second round pick.

And I'm talking about kind of trading up and having capital. But I like those three areas. I like New Orleans for him. I like Pittsburgh for him. I like the Rams for him.

Learning behind Stafford and having one of the top play callers in the league calling the plays. Mike Mayock here on the Rich Eisen Show. So let's say you are spot on here and Chidoor does drop out of the top 10. How do you see the rest of the top 10 after we're assuming it is Cam Ward first overall?

Mike, how do you say it? Cam Ward won and assuming Abdul Carter's foot is not a major concern to teams. And I don't know if he's going to work out later this month or not. I think some teams would like to see him, obviously.

But I would assume Carter and Travis Hunter are two and three in whatever order Cleveland dictates. I'm really intrigued by Travis Hunter and what an NFL team can do with him. And you can make an argument to play him on the offensive side or the defensive side. I would tell you that he's got a rare skill set for a corner and corners are harder to find. So I would rather see him spend 90 percent of his time in practice learning how to play corner in the NFL and getting a package of plays on offense.

But make no mistake. He's going to make a difference day one in an NFL locker room. And I think some teams are also going to see how much damage he can do on the offensive side of the ball.

And I imagine that's team dependent too, right? Don't you think that if somebody's kind of already set more on the offensive side of the ball, need that help to just take half the field away defensively on the back end or, you know, the Patriots, my gosh, could really use somebody like Travis Hunter for Drake May, you know, like. And so what happens if both, as you say, Carter and and Hunter are gone two, three, depending on how the Browns dictate it? What do the Patriots do it for?

I mean, do they take phone calls here or what do they do? Mike, you and I both know the phone call thing happens typically in the top 10 for a quarterback. OK, I mean, a couple of years ago, obviously, Houston moved up back back up to get Will Anderson, and that was a pretty cool move. You got a quarter quarterback and Will Anderson right there.

But I'm guessing once those guys are gone, there isn't going to be a phone call. And I think if they stick and pick, and by the way, they've done a really nice job in the off season. They've shored up that D line, like what they've done in free agency, both with immediate starters and kind of glue guys for Vrabel. So I think you got to support the quarterback A through Z right now, Drake May.

And for me, that's a tackle. Remember, they signed Morgan Moses, but he's thirty four years old. What's he got left year two at the most? So I think they're going to take either Mambo or will Campbell. But let's give him will Campbell for it for the sake of making a pick there. I think Will Campbell's got a chance to be the guy at number four.

So does Mambo. But I love that move for New England, just because, yeah, it's great to have Morgan Moses but you can't have enough support for that young quarterback on the offensive line. So and then with everybody saying Cam Ward's first overall and putting that practically in Sharpie right now, Mike Mayock, pretty much everybody does is putting something similar for Mason Graham to Jacksonville fifth overall. Are you in that?

Are you in that group too, fifth overall? I think that's probably where they go. I loved I put my hat on my GM hat on and I see Jalen Walker sitting out there who I have a higher grade on than Abdul Carter. And I think about pairing him with Trayvon Walker and Josh Allen and having those three guys in a rotation at defensive end and being able to play Jalen Walker pretty much anywhere you want in that front seven.

That intrigues me. I think that gives them a different kind of presence in the front seven than anybody else has. But I do believe because they already have two established edge rushers and they have two good off-the-ball linebackers, I'm guessing Mason Graham probably makes the most sense there. If it was me, I'd be arguing for Jalen Walker. Yeah, you love him. You've definitely been pounding the table for him for a couple of weeks.

What about your former spot, the Raiders sitting there at six? They got Gino signed for a couple of years now, right? 40 million per. What do you think of what they've got in mind 17 days out, Mike?

Yeah, yeah. I've known Pete Carroll forever and Pete wants to run the football. He wants to jam it down your throat, be physical, be tougher than you are, play action. He trusts Gino Smith. So he's got his quarterback. He's got a great tight end. It's not a wide out draft at the top end of the draft, but he needs another weapon for Gino. And to me, that's Gente from Boise. And, you know, you might say that's too high for running back.

I would argue that, you know, what, what? Jameer Gibbs and Bijan Robinson and Josh Jacobs and all those first round, former first round picks have done more than justifies a weapon on offense. And I think that would be a great match for the Raiders. Well, I mean, a conversation coming out of Jets world in New Jersey, New York, New Jersey, Mike, over the weekend, Rich, the meeting who covers the team for free SPN was talking about how if Gente was available at seven, the Jets would be all over him and potentially trade away Breece Halls, who was on the back end of his rookie deal right now. So I, I don't see him getting past the Raiders, Gente, just like you. So I don't know what you thought about, maybe what I just said about that report coming out of Jets camp and, or what they might be thinking for Aaron Glenn's first draft choice as the HD there.

Yeah. And Aaron Glenn, I really, I really like him. He's so solid. And even though he's a quote defensive guy, I think job number one is supporting your new young quarterback, right? And so whichever one of those two offensive tackles doesn't go to New England at four, I would give to the Jets at seven. So in this case, it'd be Membu. I love Membu.

They drafted Fisano at a Penn state a year ago. I love the fact that they could have bookend tackles and that Membu could play guard if he needed to. But I love the bookend tackle thing to give Justin Fields an ability to step up in the pocket and trust the pocket.

So to me, I don't even think about any of the other, I looked at a whole bunch of names there. The fit at tackle for me is really good. Offensive line, support your young quarterback. Yeah. I mean, Tyler Warren's sitting out there though, Mike, right? I mean, wouldn't you be tempted to try and pull the trigger there and just add another P, you want to help Justin Fields?

You know, I don't, I don't know. I'd rather keep Justin Fields off his ass. You want to finish out the top 10 here? Carolina, New Orleans, Chicago.

You want to finish that out? Carolina, to me, that's where I think my guy would end up, given this kind of conversation. I like the Jalen Walker conversation. Right now, they've got, what, Clowney is one of the edge guys. I think Wanam is on the other side.

They don't have an edge presence. And I think you plug and play Jalen Walker right there. Okay. And then, so unless, you know, Jacksonville does snag him, like you, you think he's a top five graded pick and New Orleans, so New Orleans would not go, you don't think Chidor Sanders sitting there on the Thursday night, 17 nights from now, you think New Orleans because of, I mean, it's a, it's a, it's an excellent, you know, it's a well thought out, obviously well-founded theory is that Mickey Loomis brought in Derek Carr, brought in Spencer Rattler, has brought in Kellen Moore, unless Moore is pounding the table in such a manner, what do you think the Saints are going to do here ninth overall? Mike?

Yeah, I already kind of illuminated. I think, I think Mickey's probably comfortable at the quarterback situation right now. Um, Derek's contract next year, I think it's 40 million non-guaranteed. Uh, so the advantage goes back to the, um, the Saints at that point. Um, so for me, they were awful on defense last year. I think whoever's the highest rated defensive player on their board goes nine, G.I. Campbell, um, the first corner, uh, you know, Will Johnson or Jahadi Barron, uh, and Ed Rusher, Pierce or Williams. But to me, whoever is the Saints highest rated defensive player right there.

And I'm guessing it's either Will Johnson or Jahad Campbell. And then the Bears who have had such a remarkable few weeks from, uh, you know, Ben Johnson saying yes all the way through the new league year, um, hitting the crap out of that old line. So what do you, what do you think the Bears do it again?

What do they do? Defense? Um, I think if those two, uh, tackles are gone, right. That I mentioned because they did a hell of a job with the interior offensive line and free agency, right? You know, they, you know, Tony and Dalman and, um, Jonah Jackson, great job.

A, A plus love it. Um, they still could use another high level tackle. If one of those tackles is there, I think they pull the trigger on that tackle. After that, um, you start looking at your guy there, the Penn State tight end, or he's so good or their highest rated defender.

I think you're, you're trying to get a difference maker at that point. Um, and yeah, I mean, Warren could be, he, he, he could be kind of special, uh, in the mix with that group of guys. So Warren or, or their highest tackle or their highest rated defender. Yeah. And this has nothing to do with Cole Kemet.

I just think Bears fans would love this kid, Tyler Warren, just running over people and making catches and cold of the soldier field, NFC North action. You know what I mean? Like for, for Caleb, giving him that option with Cole Kemet. You know what I mean? Like I'm a Cole Kemet fan.

That's right. That's no shot at Cole Kemet. I mean, but in today's world, I mean, I would love to have both those guys on the field and have the opportunity and pass protection to keep one of them in and protect that young quarterback even more so. And they got the other guy out in the route.

I mean, um, and both those guys can catch a football, but to your point that the Penn State kid has, has got some special playmaking ability, he's a bigger, stronger, he's a lot, he's more like a Gronkowski than he is one of the smaller, quicker tight ends. No doubt. Mike, you're the best. You do realize, and I'm screw it. I know, I know, uh, I'm messing with the rattlesnake here. You do realize you give me 22 more names. You got yourself a mock draft, Mike, you do realize that, right?

You're 22 names shot. You know, you're a third of the way home. Mike, you're a third of the way home. I knew as soon as you said you wanted to talk to door today. No, no, no, no, but honestly, Chidor is a guy that could drop and you're, you know, I, I kind of, I brought it all up because you, you nailed that. My God, 21 years ago, you know, with Rogers, um, and, and Chidor might be something like, where does he land?

Is it a system fit? All that sort of thing. But that said, filling out the rest of the top 10 pigs is 22 more to go. We got a mock draft. We'll talk about that. More importantly, you and I are both, you know, we both work with prime. We both have a lot of respect for him and his family. I root for the kid again, more so the fit.

And if you take the ego of the kid out of it, cause when you're the kid, you just want to go hot kid. Right. Yeah. But when you take that out of it, I just hope he ends up in the right place for him to flourish. Let me tell you, man, we were there the night in Dallas when Lamar we're sitting there 32nd overall, he's still there and we're like, what's going on. Uh, and I'm sure it was a long night for him.

How does he like playing for the Ravens now? Right. You know, exactly.

Same thing with Rogers. It sucked for him to sit there all night. But you know what I mean? It's just one night, right? It's just one long night. You're through it. Then you're in your spot and Lamar two MVPs later, and he's got the contract that he's got, you know, and the coach isn't going anywhere. He just got re-upped again.

Cause the Ravens are smart. You know what I mean? So at any rate, thank you for the time and we'll chat again next week. But you guys, one only Mike Mayock makes a smart. I love talking to him and old school stuff right there. Uh, rich Ackerman with a news update.

Our members are the mission insured by NCUA. If you wouldn't mind, I would love to, to role play with you just real briefly, Gronk. Okay. Where I play the role of somebody that I'm kind of familiar with and you play the role of somebody that you're familiar with, if you don't mind, um, I'm going to play a guy who went to Michigan. Um, okay. Who's a leader in his field.

Uh, his name is Tom and you play the role of a tight end with a hall of fame resume. Okay. And the time is going to be, let's go hmm. November 1st, 2019 in the future.

Not too distant future. Would you mind if we quickly role play this out? We got what we got one scene. Okay. Here we go.

One scene. Here we go. Ready?

Uh, Chris, say action when you got it. Okay. All right guys. All right guys. Ready? Yes.

Action. Hey Rob, it's Tom. How you been? Hey, I'm good, man. I've been doing great, man. You're, you're still killing it.

You're like 42 years old now. I mean, I know you miss me, Tom. I know you do. I do. I do.

I do, man. We, it's not just me. It's it's everybody. We all miss you. And you know, things are going great.

You know, Bill's a pain in the ass, but it's really, you know, it's really, it's really something that could be better with you. Would you, would you think would you think of coming back and playing with me, Rob? I mean, you know, I miss you too. I miss the guys, but I'm just chilling, man. I'm I'm down in the Bahamas right now.

Just relaxing. I got sipping my water and I got, I got your electrolytes in it. Don't worry. Don't worry, baby.

I got the electrolytes in the water and I'm sipping on a protein margarita, Tom. So thank you. I love you. I miss you.

I'm just relaxing, homie. There's no chance, Rob. This is Tom. This is Tom.

You know, call me when you get to the playoffs. Oh, Rob, you're a natural, man. You are a natural. You're a natural.

I don't know. It sounded that was lifelike to me. I thought that was pretty good. Ah, yes.

The Gronk AI. There it is. Perfect.

His giggle is one of the best giggles of all time. We don't have that as a drop, right? We don't have that. We got all the laughs. I got a laugh.

I don't have to giggle. Yeah. He's one of our favorites.

Certainly. We're taking shots to the face with him. You missed Bert. Oh, I heard. We sent Cooper in the back when Bert came out. I heard.

At first I was opposed to sending Cooper away, but then after it was over, I was like, you made the right call. Just so you understand. No, no, I'm agreeing. No, the reason why I did that, of course, he heard everything Bert said back there.

I just didn't. I wanted Bert to be Bert. Not like thinking, you know, on occasion, like, you know, I'm not going to be Bert.

Not like thinking, you know, on occasion, looking at a 14 year old and going, what do you think? You know what I mean? Like that, like coop didn't need to be, I know I completely understand why.

Of course he hurt me because coop comes back out of the groomer and goes, dad, I heard everything. I understand why you did it. I get it. And so you're afraid someone in front of you is going to take them. And so no one's going to go and call to trade up for Chador is basically what he's saying. Like if you're the saints, you're not worried about, you know, the jets or the Raiders taking him. So you just don't want to use the draft capital, right? You don't want to give up a third. Patriots stick and pick and, and, and get the best offensive lineman, which I know is not, you know, it's not sexy. It's probably the most prudent and smartest thing to do, but you know, it's, you know, it's not a wow. Pick that's for sure. Blame Joe Milton.

Wouldn't be prudent. That's all I just blame this, the backup quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys always comes down to us. It's not Joe's fault.

He's got, what are you going to tell him? Hey, go out there and lose. No, he's going to try his hardest as, as did all the bills. Second stringers. They were trying hard.

And by the way, there were definitely some first stringers out there too. The Dallas Cowboys got a good one. Don't let the urge to sing along to that catchy tune, distract you from that truck drifting towards your lane or that lane splitting bike or creeping up beside you. Fortunately, every Hyundai offers available class executive advanced safety features that can alert you to potential dangers around you. I think it's, I think it's an old, it's, it's a dated song. The concept is totally dated. It used to be chock filled with big moments in the NCAA tournament that you don't forget from the first round. Not anymore. Well, you're saying that because there aren't any big moments or something.

Listen, my Michigan Wolverines made the sweet 16. So this is not an anti-mission. You'll be, you'll be in it. I'm sure it'll be great. Just real quick.

Just don't like it. It's like one shining portal. It says, I don't know, One Shining Portal. One Shining Portal. That's what they should call it now. One Shining Portal.

Doesn't have like, you know what I mean? Quite ring to it. Yeah.

They're gonna have, they're gonna have, they're gonna have a Maryland coaches farewell speech saying move on, turn the page. Well, that's a shining moment, right? Wow. Send it to Luther Vandross, everybody. And now suddenly it's all great. Especially when it happens after midnight. Cause the game doesn't tip till nine o'clock. I wish we could send it to Luther.

Rest in peace. Every day when we're on the road, people around us endanger themselves and others by using their phones while driving. They think they're hiding it, but we've all seen them and know exactly who they are. For instance, there's the sneak peeker who darts their eyes between the road and their texts. There's also the got a ticketer looking upset because they just got a ticket for using their phone while driving. And what about the fast scroller who can't drive five minutes without updating their social feeds or the nightlighter who has that mysterious glow illuminating the inside of their car after dark. Do any of these sound familiar? If they remind you of yourself or someone you know, rethink your behavior before you find yourself becoming the fender benderer, the veering off the rotor, or worst of all, the driver who killed someone. Put the phone away or pay. Paid for by NHTSA.
