This is the old Trailblazer Broadcast. This is Pastor Alva Pendarvis, pastor here at Radio Missions coming out again riding old Dan. Come on Dan, let's go, let's get up. We got to get a getting.
Get down there to the little country church, to the bend of the creek or the little place over there where they're clearing off some land to build a little chapel. Let's go on over there and maybe they'll stand around and let's have a little service there before they take a break for lunch. Maybe they'll take a break and we'll be able to eat some chicken and dumplings with them over there. But let's do that. Come on Dan, let's go. We got to get a getting. We bring you these studies on demon possession, we have been, but we're looking now at demon holidays. We're going to get to it.
We got started in our last study, but we didn't get very far. But we're looking at demon holidays. And then we was looking at what's missing in our present day church services. The missing note I believe in our present day worship is the simplicity in Christ. Just simplicity in Christ. Christ never intended for his people to get away from the simple worship of Christ. I know we have these mega churches now and these televangelists and all of those things.
I know I've seen them once or twice a few times on the television and they got these waterfalls flowing behind them and the swaying palm trees and the great musicians that come there. And I know those things my friend. That's not the way the Lord ordained. No. You think old Peter and John and the rest of them would have needed to get them a waterfall behind them when they began to preach Christ?
No sir. The Bible says old Peter preached there on the day of Pentecost. And three thousand souls were saved.
Oh my friend. But God never intended for his people to get away from the simple worship of Christ. Christ said before he went back to heaven, after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you. You shall be witnesses.
Witnesses unto me. Not an experience. Not bodily healing. Not a speaking in tongues.
Not a program. Not of a church. Not of a doctrine. But of me. You shall be witnesses of me. Witnessing Christ. You hear that my friend?
Do you? When the church turns away from the simplicity in Christ, then they must have something else tangible to hold onto. So when you have only an empty religious profession, as we have so much of today, then the church will turn to almost anything. When the Galatian Christians began to turn away from the simplicity in Christ, they began to observe days and months and times and years. And the Apostle Paul writes to them in these words. Now you listen.
After that service is over, you go get your Bible and read there in Galatians 4. But now, Apostle Paul, you know, he didn't bite his tongue, did he? He wasn't timid about anything. No, he wasn't timid.
The old Trailblazer is not timid either, my friend. I have folks write to me and say, Pale Trailblazer, you've been on my toes all this week. Maybe when I've been calling sin, sin. My friend, you know what preaching is?
It's preaching the truth that man is a sinner and Christ died for sinners. And I can't stand here or sit here behind my desk and smooth over the fact that you're shacking up. I can't smooth that over that you're having an affair, an affair, I wonder whoever coined that expression, having an affair.
No, you're shacking up, shacking up, having an adulterous affair, that's what you could say. But listen, let's go back to Galatians 4, 9. But now, after you have known God, or rather known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto you desire to be in bondage. You observe days and months and times and years and I'm afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain.
Paul writing to the Colossians says in chapter 2, Let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink or in respect of a holy day or of the new moon or the Sabbath day. So you see, my friend, when an individual turns away from the simplicity of the worship of Christ as his Lord and Savior, he's got to have something else tangible to hold on to. I remember years ago when Pastor Shelton was still living and we had a group here in our little chapel at Baton Rouge and he'd come up here quite often and we had a family who came regularly, took a lot of interest in the work, and all of a sudden they dropped out. And we asked the pastor about it and he said, Well, if you won't have the truth here, you won't never have it. You never get saved if you leave Alpha Munder the truth. Now my friend, some of you folks who are listening to me have been dilly dallying around with your souls for a long time and the longer it goes, the easier it'll be for you to slip out.
Oh, my friend, the easier it'll be. It's just like sin in your life. You dabble in sin a little bit, next week you dabble a little deeper, next week and then all of a sudden you begin to cut the services, all of a sudden you begin to be critical of the pastor, critical of the people, and all of a sudden you're gone.
Never to come back. And your soul is sealed, my friend. If you won't have the gospel here, under the old Trailblazer's ministry, the Voice of Truth ministry, if you won't have it, then you won't have it anywhere. You're just gone out, you'll be like a face in the dark.
Just like a leap in the dark. Oh, my friend, listen, that individual has got to have something. Listen, in true salvation, when a person misses Christ, they have to have some feeling, some emotion, some experience to base their salvation on. All the old Trailblazer has is Christ.
Christ and His Word. I have folks question me sometimes, and I tell them, you know the old Trailblazer. The old Trailblazer's not very smart. He's a pretty simple old boy, just a simpleton. I am, just a simpleton. But you know what? I know how Christ died for sinners. I can tell you how the Lord saves a sinner. That is because the Lord showed me that in bringing me down as a poor old lost sinner under the power of the Holy Spirit. He brought me down to see that I was a poor old lost sinner with nothing at all. Like my old friend I told you about named Happy Jack. He said, my name's Happy Jack, and I'm nothing at all. But Jesus Christ is my all in all. Oh, he had about a dozen verses of that little song, and I misplaced them somehow in this Katrina, and I never found them back.
Maybe I'll do that one day and I can read them for you. What a gracious, gracious man he was. Preaching Christ, simplifying, simply honoring the Lord and all things. So we come now, after these few words, we come to, we want to speak on this subject, demon holidays. Demon holidays. And at this particular time, we want to speak about Christmas.
It won't be long. It won't be too long now before the world, the churches, the world as a whole will be celebrating what they call the birthday of Jesus. They call it Christmas time, or Christmas. It will be a time when the world will be turned over to drunkenness, reverie, debauchery, shame, misrule. It'll be a time of giving gifts, singing religious songs, Christmas carols, and the whole world over will be one madhouse. Now my friend, listen, I want to mention one of the things. Back there a long time ago, before the Lord ever dealt with my heart, I'd be out Saturday night, places I had no business being, and they'd be singing White Christmas.
They'd be singing all of those Christmas carols on the jukebox, and people dancing to those songs. Oh my friend, it's just amazing that the Lord ever jerked me out of that thing. That's right, that's right, I saw nothing wrong with it. But listen, listen, if you ever listen, I want you to hear this message and the next two or three that we'll bring along this same line. If you will, just sit there and listen, will you? Don't, don't get mad with me, don't throw off, don't, as I told you about the man that used to go out the back of the church and slam the door. No, my friend, will you just listen with an open mind?
The world, the business world, has commercialized this day to make money and to enrich their coffers. The non-religious world will cover up all of their ungodliness and wickedness with singing carols which will be played and sung and ever honky-tonk, ever gambling hell, ever brothel over this world, my friend. That's right, the religious world will give vent to the wickedness of their hearts in the days of debauchery under the guise that they're celebrating the birthday of Christ. I want to make this statement right here, lest I forget, there's no place in God's word where it instructs us, calls on us, to celebrate the birth of Christ.
There isn't. There's no way, no one knows what day the Lord was born. Nobody knows. We have speculators, all of those things.
It's just like other things. We have no way of knowing, my friend, but nowhere in God's word did He command us to celebrate His birthday. The religious world will just turn over their everything for those few weeks there under the guise that they're celebrating the birthday of Christ. Thousands and hundreds of thousands of church members will get drunk at Christmas when they wouldn't get drunk any other time. Oh, my friend, I know back when I was a child, we were too poor to celebrate Christmas.
We never had any Christmas tree in our home, but it wasn't because of anything except we didn't have anything. But I know my dad and a couple of the neighbors would always manage to get some whiskey, and they made what we call eggnog. Many of you folks know what eggnog is, you can buy it in the store, but they made it and they put whiskey in it.
They did. And I can remember tasting it. My dad would insist that I taste it when I was a teenager. I didn't like the taste of it then, nor do I like the taste of it now. If it's got any alcohol in it, I like what they call cultivated eggnog. I drank it in the winter. I don't know why they don't just have it all year because I like it. But my friend, it was the only time my dad would ever go down to the liquor store and buy maybe a pint or half a pint of some kind of old high-powered whiskey and stir it up with a bunch of eggs, and I don't know what all they put in it.
I don't really care. But it was the only time. He didn't do that in July, didn't do it in August, didn't do it in September. But you get close to Christmas, and folks would come over and have eggnog with us. They were blinded. But my friend, they'd do it in the name of celebrating the birth of Christ. And Satan eggs it on, if you can say that.
Egged it on, no pun intended. My friend, but church members, I didn't say Christians. I said church members. Churches will turn their buildings over to Christmas programs, cantatas, Christmas trees, giving of gifts with hilarity and frivolity in the spirit of a festival.
And all of these in their different spheres will believe they're doing God's will. Christmas day will be a day of feasting and drinking, drunkenness, dancing, frivolity, as seldom witness at any other time. Is this the way you want to celebrate the birth of Christ, my friend, even if you knew who it was?
When it was, I wouldn't. I wouldn't want you to celebrate my birthday like that, would you? No! No! I wouldn't want you to celebrate my birthday like that. No, I'd just like maybe a piece of cake and a little ice cream when my kids come over and bring me a shirt or an egg tie or something for my birthday. And I think that's great.
I think we ought to do that. Honor your mother and father. And the scripture says, and your days will be long. But not Christmas, my friend.
No! Not Christmas. Christmas is a demon holiday, my friend. Satan just relishes that time of the year when folks get drunk and men and women fight and separate and the jails are full on those days because they're having a party, having a time drinking and all of that. And then all of the lust and adultery that takes place along that time, my friend. A lot of men get by with things when they got a few drinks under their belt that they wouldn't ever say or do. When they're sober, that's all Satan's tricks, my friend.
I know that this is a radical statement. Folks won't have it, many folks. But my friend, how about you? Are you going to celebrate Christmas like that by giving some, putting yourself in debt?
And I'll get into that in our next study. Taking those credit cards and maxing them out. And then they come due about in January or February and I tell my people here, my congregation, don't do that. Don't do it. Burn those things.
Cut them up. Because Satan would like to have you in debt. That way you rob God.
You can't put your tithes and offerings in. But this is the Old Trailblazer broadcast. I want you to remember my website, radiomissions.org. And then my mailing address, Old Trailblazer, Post Office Box 1810, Walker, Louisiana, 70785. Until next time, goodbye and may God bless you. I am the clay. Hold me and make me. After thy will. All I am waiting. Healed in and still.
