This is the Old Trailblazer Broadcast. This is Pastor Albert Pindouris, pastor here at the First Baptist Church of Algiers, formerly in New Orleans.
Now we're located in Walker, Louisiana, but this is the Old Trailblazer Broadcast coming to you from radio missions here. Pastor L.R. Shelton was a pastor for many, many years, and now he's gone on to be with the Lord, and we're picking up, he used to have this little broadcast, he had the sound effects in the studio where he made Old Dan, you could hear him walking, clippity-clop, all of those things, we don't have that. But we go out every day, I call it riding Old Dan, blazing the path to the hearts of sinners, and we bring you these studies on demons, possession, and old Satan, what a trickster he is, and we want to discuss, at this time we're looking at the wilds of Satan, the snares and all of those things, and I want to look today at two outstanding snares of Satan that he's using today to trick souls into believing that they're saved, and at the same time holding them as his slaves or subjects. And the first one we mentioned in our last study, Satan has a religious program, he's using it very effectively, and Satan is a religious person.
Yes, Satan has a religious zeal, and we looked at that in our last study, we saw there in Luke 9 26, for whosoever shall be ashamed of me, and of my words, of him shall the Son of Man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory. And Satan works through, and by catchy slogans we saw that, man, God's man, begins to preach the word as it is, like the old pastor does here, and the average individual won't have it. I get letters and emails, almost on a regular basis now, taking issue with things that I say, but they'll follow this new gospel, with the high sounding phrases and catchy slogans that catch the fancy of men, that put the emphasis on enjoyment, on the emphasis on empowerment, the emphasis on prosperity.
They're gaining ground by leaps and bounds. The new gospel of man's righteousness brings the world into the church to hold its young people. We do. I saw a picture, a billboard here in front of a large Baptist church recently, having an arm wrestling contest on such and such a night. Get rid of the service and have an arm wrestling contest. And then I mentioned to you a few days ago, a local church here in our community, two Sundays in a row they call off their Sunday service.
One they had a magic show, and the other one they had a trick dog. I mean, my friend, all those things, that's the new gospel. This new gospel today doesn't interfere with Adam's life, doesn't seek to change Adam's life, but lives for its own pleasure, attempting to direct it, and it'll get members in the church, but it won't be saved. Oh, man, my friend, this is Satan's present day religious program. Salvation, salvation is a deliverance from it, and through Jesus Christ our Lord.
You listen, my friend, listen. Now, let's look at this next thought. That is, Satan has taken the offense out of the cross. That's one of the great tricks of Satan today, taking the offense out of the cross. Did you know that the gospel is offensive?
It is. It's offensive to the natural heart, to the natural mind. I know when I stand in my pulpit and I bring a message, uh, the soul that sinneth it shall die. There's none righteous, no, not one. It's a point unto man wants to die, and after that the judgment.
I bring a message along that line, folks get angry with me, write me, call me, old kind of crackpot and speckle bird, because I'm offending folks. They said, preach on the love texts of God. Preach John 3 16. I do, but I preach John 3 17 18 and 19. Go there and read those verses, if you will. But, my friend, Satan has taken the offense out of the cross.
How you say how he does that? By placing his ministers, his so-called pastors and preachers in the pulpit. Our world today, our religious world, is filled with, uh, young, mostly young preachers who have never been saved. They don't know anything about total depravity. I tell you, if you miss total depravity, if you deny the total depravity of the heart, you go astray on every other doctrine, my friend. I know, I know they're high sounding, I know they're easily entreated, so to speak, they're kind and gentle men, but my friend, they've taken the offense out of the cross. That's one of the greatest tricks of Satan today. He's done it so effectively, until when you preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit, you seem to be cutting across practically the whole of Christendom. I call attention to the fact that churches now have a rock gospel, gospel rock in their services, and a man called me who was almost beside himself, asking me what was wrong with me, that I said that was not right, that it didn't glorify the Lord. Any fool will know that that doesn't honor the Lord.
A rock group with those long haired, stringy haired individuals jumping around on the stage with a hot lead guitar and making all those sounds, and a guy over there beating on the drum with a hair platted down to his waist, and that's what it is, my friend. They in the churches. They in the churches.
I go in churches where they have funerals, and they got a brass section up there, looks like one of the big band era. Oh, my friend, it gets my goat. I don't mind telling you it gets my goat. I've been literally amazed beyond words at the effectiveness of this radio station here, this radio ministry, how that many people listen. They write me, especially among the ages, saying, pastor, trailblazer, I haven't heard preaching like that since 50, 60, 70 years ago when I was young coming up, and I'm just preaching God's word, but God's using it to awaken sinners, to cut away all the briars and the brambles that are cluttering up your heart, but I find a tremendous opposition to the simple, plain word of God. Oh, my friend, and it's led me to this conclusion. Now, you get it. Folks make much of Christ and reject his word. Why?
It's because Satan has succeeded in taking the sharp edge off the so-called gospel that is preached today, and he's taken the offense out of the cross. I tell you often that Satan sits in this little studio with me on my shoulder and says, cool it. Cool it, trailblazer. Tone it down, trailblazer. You're going to offend some of your good givers, some of your good givers. My friend, if the gospel offends you, I can't help it. I cannot help it. I preach the raw word of God.
That's what I do. I don't hunt up the love texts of God and dwell on them. They're there when the Lord leads me.
I do that thing, but my friend, this is God's word I'm bringing. This is not some fantasy world. Satan is the enemy. Satan is our arch enemy. He's the God of this world, a prince in the power of this air, and he walks about as a roaring lion seeking those whom he may devour. Have you been devoured by Satan?
Oh no, I'm not. Are you praising the Lord? Have you ever been a lost sinner? Have you ever been a lost sinner? Did you know folks deny being a sinner? And then I tell them Christ came to save lost sinners. The only individual that Christ came to save is lost sinners. If you've never been a lost sinner, you're not saved. Oh, well, I made a decision. Well, that don't mean nothing.
I've made thousands of decisions, but they didn't have anything to do with salvation. Oh, no, no. I'll tell you this. I had a family that I know. The family had a younger daughter, and she told her mother. She didn't. She quit going, quit coming to hear our broadcasts and our messages, and she told her mother one day, Oh, mother, I joined the First Baptist Church of one of the little towns in that area, big church. Her mother said, sugar, I joined everything you was before the Lord saved me.
Kind of busted her bubble. She said, I joined the big church down there. Mama says, honey, I joined everything before the Lord saved me. Oh, my friend, it's not the church. It's not the Baptist Church, not the Methodist, not any church. It's Christ. Christ or hell.
Did you know Christ is a living personality, a living in your heart when you know the Lord? Paul said in Galatians 5-11, I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? Then is the offense of the cross ceased? There's an offense to the cross of Christ or to the gospel of the Son of God?
There has to be an offense. When you take the offense out of the cross, out of the gospel, you have no saving gospel. Man by nature hates the gospel of Christ, and it's only by grace that he comes to love the truth of God's word.
And as I've often said, it's only by grace that you can love the old trailblazer. In Romans 9-33, 9-33, we find these words. Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone, a rock of offense, and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. The Lord Jesus Christ, crucified, buried, and risen, is a stumbling stone.
He's a rock of offense. In 1 Peter 2-8, we find, and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient were unto also they were appointed. You can't separate Christ and his word.
No. He who stumbles at the word of God will stumble at Christ. You cannot accept Christ and deny his word.
Listen again. In Matthew 21-42, Jesus saith unto them, Did you ever read the Scriptures, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? And then Psalms 118-22 says, The stone which the builders refused is become the headstone of the corner.
The apostle Peter told that crowd on the day of Pentecost, Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made that same Jesus, whom ye crucified, both Lord and Christ. Then, if you'll turn to 1 Corinthians 1-23, but we preach Christ crucified unto the Jews, a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness. Oh, my friend, is the word foolish to you? Is Christ foolish to you, my friend, or do you look upon him as your redeemer, as your pardoner, as your sovereign Lord?
Oh, my friend, the sovereignty of God, folks deny it, chomp a bit at it, because God does as he pleases. Did you know God doesn't have to save you? He didn't have to save you. If you're saved, he didn't have to save you. He didn't have to touch your heart. He didn't have to open your heart.
He didn't have to do anything. Just leave you alone. All a person has to do to go to hell is that the Lord would leave him alone.
Leave him alone. You're already on the road there, and if the Lord never puts a roadblock in your path, if he never blocks off your path to hell, you'd just wake up there one day, blinded by the God of this world. And the old trailblazer's pleading with you. Don't let Satan, don't allow Satan to wreck and ruin your life and your family by all of this stuff that's on the market today, my friend. Oh, if you just look around, Satan influences everything that comes into your contact.
He does. Did you know it's a struggle to get saved? The Bible says, diligently seek the Lord. When you seek him diligently, that means you've got to stress. You've got to stress and strain and strive to come to the Lord. It don't fall out of a tree on you. No, sir. No, sir.
The old trailblazer knows, my friend. It's a struggle to come to know the Lord. And if Satan could keep you blinded, quieted down, he'll do it.
He'll just keep you quieted down. You just lay there and sit there and go on about your job, go right on into hell with your eyes wide open. Now, my friend, you have to come to Christ. You have to get up and come to Christ.
That's right. When the Lord met the man there at the pool, he said, take up thy bed and walk. Did you know if he wouldn't have got up, he'd have never been saved? I asked you, have you ever come to Christ? You must come to Christ.
He says, come unto me. All you that labor in the heaven laden, I'll give you rest. Are you weary of this old life?
I am. Are you ready to go home to be with the Lord, my believer friend? Oh, what a joy that's going to be to just go down, maybe go to bed at night, wake up in heaven. Won't that be something? Folks will come in, find your old body there dead, stiff as a board, gone on to be with the Lord.
Can you say that? Safe in the arms of Jesus, safe in the shepherd's fold? Oh, my friend, let me say, we're going to have to go, but remember my mailing address, write me, let me know that you're listening. Tell me what station you're listening to. Then if you can, help me with the broadcast. Send me an offering for the broadcast. Say, put that on that new station, Trailblazer, and your money will be preaching the gospel.
Remember my mailing address, the old Trailblazer, Post Office Box 1810, Walker, Louisiana, 70785. Goodbye. O, what a joy that's going to be to be with the Lord, my believer friend. O, what a joy that's going to be to be with the Lord, my believer friend. On the page wide and fair, in the book of God's kingdom, my name's written there.
