God's sense of humor is evident in the animal kingdom, such as the giant panda, and in Bible stories like the disciples' fishing adventures. The use of humor in the Bible is not just for entertainment, but to make a point and connect with people on a deeper level.

Well. We're waiting. Let's kick the tires and light the fires, Big Daddy. I feel the need. The main First feed.

Get on with it. Yes, get on with it. Get on with it. Get on with it. All right, all right.

The Joyride starts now. Welcome to all you joyriders out there. This is a fantastic show from the guys you know. I'm speaking of none other than the Band of Brothers. My name's Keith, producer for such fine truth network programming like The Masculine Journey and Masculine Journey After Hours.

In this podcast, you can expect to laugh and smile with godly men who want nothing more than to honor and glorify God.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the joyride. Hey Joyriders!

So, this week the guys are talking about God's humor. You know when you think about it, There are all kinds of examples of God's humor all over. Take the animal kingdom for example. To be more specific, the Alaropoda melanoluca. or what is more commonly known as the giant panda.

See, y'all learned something today. I tell you, you want a good laugh? You should listen to the Joyrod like all of the time. But after that Watch videos of pandas. How they managed to survive in the wild is beyond me.

Now, before we get to the clip, I have one more example of God's humor. It comes from Numbers 11, 18 through 20. Say to the people, Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow you shall eat meat. For you have wept in the ears of the Lord, saying, Oh, that someone would give us meat to eat. for we were well off in Egypt.

Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you shall eat. You shall eat not one day, not two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days, but a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and become loathsome to you. Because you have rejected the Lord who is among you and have wept before him, saying, Why did we ever leave Egypt? To me when I read that, I think about parents trying to take their kids somewhere fun for vacation, and the kids are complaining the whole time. See, God knows exactly what that feels like.

Is there any story in the Bible about the disciples fishing. That isn't humorous. I mean, there's something funny in each one of those. You got John counting every fish and the. Catch was breaking the nets.

You got Jesus on the shore after the resurrection cooking for him. You catch anything, boys? in reminding them of First meeting for some of them. No, he was paid to scale and he put his money where his mouth was. Oh goodness.

Something's going on. That doesn't hook. Yeah, I don't know what else to be doing. Yeah, that was hook lines right there. You know, and and Jim and those fishing stories, you know, he's He tells them two different times, casting in on the other side of the boat.

And they're like, we fished all night, but okay. You know, and and that that to me, that's humorous is you know, and what do they do? They catch a bunch of fish.

So there is humor in that.

So You did make a statement. That I'm not really going to challenge because I mostly agree with it, but we have senses of humor because God does. But Robby showed us something. that I've always thought was amusing. How many people do you know that really don't have a sense of humor?

But everybody thinks they have a sense of humor. You know anybody like that? I could be one of them for you guys, I know. I've seen some folks at the jury still out whether they have one or not.

So, generally speaking, everybody does have a sense of humor.

Some of it is buried way, way down, and some people theirs are broken pretty badly, but probably a few of those in this crowd. But uh one thing I would challenge is looking at how often humor is used to illustrate a point. We're going to have a lot of clips today that talk about that, where you have God in the mix in the story, but every one of them has a purpose and a point to it. It's not humor just for humor's sake, it's humor to make a point. And I think there's something about humor that gets around that logical part of you.

You know, it kinda takes you in a different direction that you're not expecting and it and kinda hits home a little easier than it would if I had to process it and think it through. Humor just kind of bypasses some of that and and lets it land where it needs to land. And I think that's at least for me, that's why God's tended to use it, is 'cause he can make a point quicker with humor than just about anything else. You know, the fascinating thing also for me is, you know, if I ask many people to co-host or, you know, Guest host Kingdom Pursuits, and I always tell my riddles and jokes, and next to none of them. that I've ever asked to do it can really do you can do it, Dandy, but most people can't.

And it's a matter of simply timing. I was going to say taste. What kind of category did I just get put in?

So from the Guides A Masculine Journey, I'm Keith and we'll see you down the road. This is the Truth Network.

Yeah.
