I am Jim Roll. The show is presented. By FanDuel, as if James Kelly didn't get enough run already with his 20 minutes. I know that if James Kelly is reacting to something on the show, that means he's either watching, listening, something he never does unless he's on the show.

So it must be for a good reason. James Kelly, he's got his list. We always talk about the list of guys that he hates, and once you get on that list, you're not getting off that list. He has a couple of people that he loves, actually.

So I said to him because he's responding, he loves Jake Dickert, loves him, and with James Kelly. Again, I really respect the guy's opinion. I really don't respect the way he carries himself and a lot of what he brings to it. Like when he brings Tavares up every single week, like I don't respect that at all. But I respect his knowledge and his insight.

And the fact he's kind of a savant, like he's functionally illiterate. I mean, my man's probably straight GED. Like, I don't know that he got out of the sixth grade, but he knows ball, man. And there's a lot of things that he and I go back and forth on. He's he's actually kind of clairvoyant.

He he's just a weird dude, James Kelly. Like he sees things that I have no idea how he sees, but then they're right before they happen. Anyway. What I'm saying is, I respect his knowledge of ball and coaching, and he loves loves Jake Dicker, loves him, and he doesn't love that many people. I'm like, you know what, head, and he's.

I'm bringing this up because he texted me right after the interview. One. He stayed on to listen or watch, which he never does unless he's on the show. Two, he reacted the way he did. I said, "Head, you got to put that guy on your other list." He does have another list: people he hates and people he loves.

The number of people he loves is way shorter than the number of people he hates. Here is his list, according to me, of the people he loves: himself, Kyle Shanahan. And Jake Dickert, end of list. That's the other James Kelly list. I know, dude.

I'm telling you, Jake Dickert is a freaking star. He's a star.

So if you're Wake Forest and you hear him say, "Hey, we've got 17 guys of our 21 that could come back next year and start, or 17 of 21 that could start next year or come back next year." That's good. In other words, why would I want to leave? We're having an amazing year. I love this group.

So I mean, taking it face value, that's good news. Being real, and I'm not saying he's not being genuine. I'm just here to tell you, he would be in high demand. That is a great coach. We saw what he did in Washington State.

We're seeing what he's doing at Wake Forest. Jobs will open up. His phone will ring. I'm not saying he'll go. I'm not saying he's looking to leave.

I'm not saying he's not really happy where he is. I'm saying he's a great bleeping coach. And then some of you saw the interview and are reacting like this. Did Jake leave that cheese wedge in the background as a shout out to the Rat Fam? I wish, man, that'd be so great.

He is a jungle guy. His dad loves the show, but no, that's not what that is. They have Wisconsin roots. That's why he was homing so hard from Milwaukee. They have Wisconsin roots.

Oh wow, this goes back to Robin Tampa saying we have a phrase that we use in the porn industry. I don't need to reset it. This is Kenan Sa's response. Rome, Rob in Tampa is usually the guy in the chair watching his wife get nice with a stranger. Wow, is that how he knows?

Is that how he knows the phrase? Or does he know the phrase because we in the porn industry, like Rob, that guy is that guy in the porn industry because he had knowledge of that phrase? "Quote we in the porn industry." This guy writes, "Baby Badder Tucker is still less creepy than most clones." Ooh, that's tough. Creep. I don't know if that's true, but I don't know if that's not true.

Not to go Jim Sula on you, but I don't know that that's not true. I don't know if that's true, but I don't know that it's not. That I wouldn't say it either. I would not say that. I wouldn't say it either.

I would not say that. I wouldn't say it either. I would not say that. I wouldn't say it either. All right, let's go to the phones.

I wouldn't say it either. I would not say that. In market, on topic. Not only in market on topic, but maybe the topic in market on topic. The topic himself.

It says Justin T now in KC. One way to find out: Justin T now in KC. Uh, busting. That's not you, is it? It's.

I don't know how to say this, but I'm really excited because things have been really hard, Jim. I'm talking like really hard. You know, I'm excited that I'm gonna be busting kicks. I said kicks, busting kicks all over Kansas City, and I think your your call screen might mis misheard me because my name's actually pronounced Jizton Toucher. Maybe it's me.

Not a very good call. Help me with this. You tell me. I'm not saying this is where I live and this where I do best, but I've got a decent ear. It just sounded strikingly familiar to V in the fee.

I cannot be certain, but that sounded to me like VD in Manafee. And I bet if I were to play it back, and why would I do that? You'd agree. Why? Why V?

Why? Right when the show was back to being the show that it needs to be, you show up pretending to be Justin T.

Now in KC. All right, I love to see this guy on a day other than Beef Day, so I'm sure that he can follow that up and he'll be just fine. Let's go to Charleston, Miles. My brother Miles. How you doing, Miles?

I'm well today, Rome. I hope you are too, man. Always good to hear from Justin V and the Fee there.

So quick, Rome. The guy in Tampa. Look, he acted all shocked and surprised that he got there, and there were a bunch of Brewers fans. He clearly has never been to a game at the Trop. Before Jim, I've been to many.

I'm a Marlins fan. I've been to many Florida sporting events. Like all other sporting events in Florida, the fans are for the other team. Rob, you moron. That's where you live.

That's the way it is. It's okay to be a fan of the Marlins. It's okay to be a fan of the Rays. But when you go, Jim, you have to expect to be outnumbered by the fans of the opposing team. That's just the way it is, Jim.

Loving the show as always. Unworn Mikey in the loin out. All right, Miles. You know what he would say to that? If Robert were here, Robert would say, "Hey, Miles, we have a saying in the porn industry, and then he'd lay it out for you." He would say to you, "I've been to every single game." And Miles, another thing, we in the porno industry have a saying.

It's known as. Anyway, I always like seeing Miles. I always like to see Miles on the screen, and I especially like to see him on days that are not beef segments because I know that's guaranteed. He's always there. He's always in the one hole, and I like to see it.

But anything above and beyond to me is just gravy. And he doesn't pretend to be anybody that he's not, namely Justin T in KC. Damn V, I know you can't help yourself. V is like the class clown, except filthy and dirty. Like V, when you're straight, your takes are so good, dude.

But I know you'd much rather be the class clown and get everybody look at you and react to you and get your ass run and pretend to be Bustin' Tucker. I know I can't change you, dude. Clearly. You can't change other people. That'd be my one lecture of the day.

You can't change people. You can't make people be what you want them to be. Case in point, you clones. Case in point, VD in the fee. You can't change people.

Oh, you can't change almost anything really. Control what you can control. V in the fee, for instance, totally out of control. I can't control that guy. I can't even block that guy.

What can I do? I mean, I really thought it was Justin Tucker. Athletes have called the show before. I really thought for a minute it was him. I was hoping it was him, but then it was VD and the fee.

What are you going to do? Let's go to Jeff C. A.K.A. The absolute genius behind this, Alvy. Can you please play this before I go to this guy?

Because he earned it and deserved it. Because he composed it, and it's absolutely genius. An ode to Corvette guy. Wait for it. Corvette guy.

He's got a better kick than you. I love you so much. Tommy says people email vanity plates from Corvette Guy every single day. Then why am I not seeing them, bro? Everybody should see them.

I love Corvette Guy and Gal vanity plates. They're far and away the best thing on the road, and this is the best thing on the air right now. Jeff C in NC, the genius behind Corvette Guy. Never gets tired of that. By the way, I bump that when I'm not even around.

I bump that on the way home. Corvette Guy, love that tune. Let's go there right now in NC. Jeff C, Jeff, my brother, what's going on? What's going?

On, Romeo, my dude, dude, that that will never be anything other than awesome. You should still be proud of yourself for that. I will always be proud of you for that. Never gets old hearing it on your show, man. It's great.

It's awesome. It makes the show better. Makes my life better.

Well, I'm glad I could help, my man. Hey, awesome, awesome, awesome discussion with Jake Dicker, man. You know, love hearing him on the show. You know, we we always love having the karma as long as it's not the kind that your boy Kalani Satake got. But anyways, man, I think one thing that makes him so elite.

Of course, you got to get good players and coach them up. You know, put them in the right position to succeed. But one thing that is Extraordinary about him is he is elite at making halftime adjustments. You know, we were losing against State. Speaking of Dave Doorn, we were losing against State in the first half, and then came out and just absolutely just smacked them around in the second half, and that's because of those adjustments.

See, before when we had Clawson, and I'm not knocking Clawson; I think he was a great guy. I mean, I've got a picture with him holding my daughter. I mean, a great guy, but as far as a coach, you know, he had that slow mesh offense that kind of worked until it didn't anymore. And then he played a real timid brand of defense, prevent defense, and I don't know, man. It just and it's like he never made any adjustments.

He he came out in the second half and did the same thing he would do in the first half. And that's why their success started to decline. Is just under him, anyways.

So, anyways, man, that's all I got. Wrong. Go deep. And Jeff, I love it. Your football analysis is good, but not as good as this.

But it's good. You're not wrong. Jake Dickert is not only elite in his halftime adjustments. Jake Dickert's elite at everything. I'm telling you.

I'm not just saying this because he's fun to have on the show and he's accessible and he comes on the show and pops likes the show. That family is elite. He is an elite coach across the board. He's exactly what you want, and in terms of your point that Clawson would kind of lay out and be a lot more conservative and play some prevent defense, you never ever have to worry about that with Jake Dickert. He was always first of all.

Cut his teeth defensively. We know this. Second of all, he said it during the interview. We will attack. We will always attack.

We are not going to be on our heels. I've seen it happen to too many other teams. We will always be ready to attack you. When I said, "Wait, what's it like now?" I said, "Wake Forest. You know, it hasn't been like this for a long time, if ever." But now you are the hunted.

Now you have a target on your back. He's like, "We're good. We're attacking. We're always coming for you." Great coach, great coach, and really nice place to live. Really nice institution.

And listen, I hate to say it, when you have a school that just gave you a coach, and came on the show, the guy's going to be in high demand. Obviously.

Now the question is, what jobs are going to open up? It's just so different. Like Dave Doran, who I mentioned, he had been—we used to have him on. He had been at NC State 14 years. They fired him mid-season.

Scott Frost made a complete point. He went way out of his way to say, "We're playing Baylor this week," and they just fired their head coach, who was four and three, the same record as us.

Now, granted. You are four and three. Was four and three after your biggest win in program history, Scott. But point well taken. And when I asked Jake about that, he's like, "Dude, you know this is the way the world is.

This is the way our business is right now. We understand this, Bob. We're living it here in L.A. For those who care, and not everybody cares. But Bob Chesney is seven and zero.

Another absolute rock star. Don't think that people aren't coming for him." And the UCLA fans not nervous about that. To which you might say, UCLA fans nervous about that? Rome, we watch them in the Rose Bowl. There's nobody there.

What do you mean they're nervous about that? All right, the UCLA Bruin fans that show up are nervous about that. But Bob Chesney keeps saying, "I'm exactly where I want to be." Oh, speaking of which, Lincoln Riley made a point of saying yesterday, "I am exactly where I want to be and where I need to be." The hilarious thing about that is not because he's in demand, but because of the conversation that Baylor's job is now open and that he might be somebody who might go there. In other words, that's his way of saying, "Don't run me off. I don't want to go.

I'm not looking to leave." That's a very different conversation than, "Damn, it would be nice to have Bob Chesney. Wow, it'd be nice to have Jake Dickert." I'm not going to Baylor. I'm at USC. I'm happy here. I'm right where I need to be.

I don't know, Link. Are you? If you are, you better win out. Otherwise, those who are there may not feel the same way about you being right where you want to be, or right where you need to be, or most importantly, right where you should be. I don't know if that's the case.

I mean, look at what Jake Dickert's already done at Wake Forest. Look at what Bob Chesney has already done at UCLA. You're five years in, top recruiting class you had, but you're you're right where you should be. I don't know that everybody agrees. If you want people to agree, win out, and that's not going to be easy.

Let's go to John in Portland. I'm sensing more clone on clone crime. Been seeing some of that today for sure. Hey, John, what's going on with you, John? Hey, John.

Hey, John. Hey, Romy. Thanks for taking my call. I'll just point out the obvious here. I'm a new caller.

I've been calling for a few months, so I'm honored that other clones actually took time to email in about one of my takes. Amber, you are absolutely right. The 49ers did give up a lot for Trey Lance. Almost as much as the Seahawks gave up for Jamal Adams, which I believe was a player, two firsts, and a third.

So I'm just going to take a stab in the dark here. Like most bandwagon twelve, you were probably rooting for the Chiefs around that time. Or the other option is that smell from the fish flying through Seattle down at Pike Street has turned your brain to complete mush.

Now, the Quinton Nelson trade is a rental until I see pen to paper. Just like there are still bums in that running back room, and the QB is still seeing ghosts. And just like how the 49ers are still leading the division. Hey Romy, like I said, it's an honor to be on the show. It's an honor that other clones talk about me.

I appreciate it. What's going on? Clones are now getting run to Corvette guy. This might be a thing. This might become a thing.

It started with Corvette guy himself. His tape was good, and then started running a little bit too long, and then way too long. And then I said, "Your take is good, but not as good as this." And then John of Portland, who, by the way, John, my guy, because you're new, you may or may not know this. I appreciate you coming in, and I appreciate you being new more than you could ever know.

However, as Jake Dicker would say, we got to we got to coach you hard. We're not doing our job if we don't coach you hard.

So you made your point. And then you made it again, and then we no longer needed to hear you make that point.

So you just got Corvette Guide yourself. But it's good to have you, dude, and you are welcome to call any time because I love that new blood. Love that new blood. I would caution, and John, you've made it clear you you can handle your own business. I don't know why all of you think that Amber is some kind of easy mark.

She will come with some heat now. If she feels you're worthy, Amber can hang with any of you fellas. She's a top ten smack off participant. Her smack is fire. It's consistent.

She backs it up. I don't know that you want to keep poking that bear, but it's up to you. All right. But most of all, my biggest takeaway from that. I'm a new caller.

I love it. I think a lot of that is our YouTube channel. Getting a lot of people that have found the program that either didn't know it or used to know about it and didn't know that I was still doing it, and here you are.

So either welcome or welcome back, but we're still here. We're still banging away. We're still bringing it every single day.

First overall pick AJ DeBonsa makes his NBA debut tonight in Cleveland. That's exciting.

However, much better news than every other team is seemingly getting right now, because almost every other team is already seemingly dealing with an injury or multiple injuries. Add Tyrese Halliburton, Anthony Edwards to the list. Jaquan Williams, we saw how horrific that was. Kason Wallace, Jaron Jackson Jr., Paolo Bancaro, and of course Leonard. Even Luca is not going back to back, and is not playing tonight because of back tightness.

However, I don't want to talk about all the miserable injury news. I want to talk about another piece of news that I saw yesterday via report from the Akron. Beacon Journal about the Cavaliers' little gagging problem, which I really shouldn't call a little problem because it's a major choking issue. Of course, that's how the Cavs' season ended last year. They blew that twenty-two point lead in Game One against the eventual champion Knicks.

Then they imploded from there. Although analytically, they did win two of the first three games, according to their coach Kenny Atkinson, and according to James Harden, the Cavaliers were actually the better team analytically. And yet, despite those moronic excuses from Kenny and the fat suit. Cleveland started the new season right where they left off the last one with a twenty-nine point gag job in Philly, which of course led Kenny to try to tell us that it's only one of eighty-two. In fact, it's actually a great experience.

It's actually a positive because this is how you build character. This is a good thing. Thankfully, Kenny. Doesn't really believe that. Thankfully, he doesn't think that gagging and choking and dying on the court all the time is actually a positive.

And we know that thanks to the Akron Beacon Journal, who reported this yesterday. "Quote: Cleveland's habit of blowing sizable leads has been at the forefront of recent discussions between Atkinson and his players." End quote. Hell yes, it is. It better be. I would hope he's not telling his players that it's a positive thing and a character builder to choke away a 29-point lead on opening night after ending last season on the same exact note.

Where you're going to start exactly where you left off, blowing enormous leads. How the hell is that character building? How the hell is that positive? It's not, of course.

So I would hope they're trying to figure out how to stop all of that gagging and dying on the court. I don't really have any idea why Kenny tried to tell us that that's a good thing, but I'm glad that's not what he's telling his players.

However, you'll never guess what he is telling his players. You'll never guess what those discussions actually sound like. And how Cleveland is trying to fix their quote habit of blowing sizable leads. End quote. In order to make his point to his players, he has turned to and is invoking soccer.

I mean, it's like this guy's trying to piss me off. It's like this guy is doing everything he can to lose me completely. And why am I making it about me? Because now he is bringing soccer into it.

Soccer, again, from the same newspaper. As they prepared for the T Wolves, Atkinson and his assistant coaches showed Cavaliers players footage of Argentina's two to one win over England in the World Cup semifinals to put a new spin on the topic. On July 15th, Argentina trailed one nothing going into the 85th minute before rallying for a victory. Quote. When England got the lead, they just kind of went back.

And Argentina, I think, had 88 of the possession in the second half. Atkinson said, "Our message to the guys: You have to keep attacking. Your natural inclination is to hold back, slow down." End of quote. Oh.

Okay, I'm sure that was an enormous help. I'm sure showing them a hideous soccer game really clicked. I'm sure that everybody on the Cavaliers understood the value and the lesson in watching Argentina do absolutely nothing for the entire game before pulling off some miracle in the last minutes of the game, because that's totally applicable. Because any Cavalier would see that and say, "Exactly, we got it, Coach." I wonder if he also showed them Argentina's disgusting performance in the final for inspiration. Inspiration on how to act like sore losers and spoiled brats.

Inspiration on how to bore the entire planet to tears. Inspiration on how to work the ref show and dive on the ground like you just took sniper fire. Inspiration on how to eat orange wedges and how to poke the straw through the Capri Sun. Did you break out all of that too, Kenny? What the hell are we doing here?

Kenny, go back to telling us that your team analytically won games that they actually lost in reality. Hell, I'd rather hear the fat suit tell us that the Cavs were a better team after getting swept than hear this nonsense about using soccer to inspire anybody to do anything at all. Not that you asked, Kenny, but you should have. But here's some advice. Despite you making it worse and worse, I'm still going to give you some advice, some useful advice.

Instead of notes, my best advice is not shut up. My best advice is listen up. Instead of making your team watch soccer games that have absolutely nothing to do with anything, much less your choking team. I suggest the following. I suggest you go have lunch with the monkey.

Now that's a dude who knows what he's doing, and what he's doing is the opposite of what you and your team are doing. You're choking away gigantic leads and cannot finish. The monkin, without your expectations or talent, is finding ways to win and finish games that they seemingly have already lost. Granted, they're doing it against dog crap, but they're doing it.

So, since I'm probably not going to get around to having lunch with the monkin myself, you should, because while my job doesn't depend on it, yours might. Because if you're making your guys watch soccer games, you obviously have no answers. But the Monken incredibly does.

So do it, Kenny. Go book lunch with the Monken. Lunch with the Monken. Lunch with the Monken. Monken, Monken, Monken, Monken, Monken, Monken.

Lunch with the Monken. Lunch with the Monken. Monken, Monken. Yeah, I do have the Monken's back. I do have the Monken's back.

Shut your piehole! Already. Hold my timeouts. Kenny, he's finishing. Granted, he's doing it against dog crap, but he's doing it.

He's finishing. He's winning. He's getting the job done. He's not coming from way ahead to choke and making lame excuses and making his team watch soccer games that have nothing to do with anything. He's coming from behind.

He's winning late. He's actually turned the creep back into a semi-functional quarterback, dude. Instead of making your players watch soccer, go have lunch with the monkin'. You're freaking welcome. I'd bring the I'd bring the monkin' in and have them talk to the team before I'd show them one more second of soccer.

Kenny, what are we doing? You're welcome. I'm trying to help. Have lunch with the monkin', then to bring the monkin' in. It'll work.

You're welcome. You're welcome. You're welcome. Old Hoss Radbourne, sin Radbourne, my bad. Lobsing bags of urine is analytically winning.

Sign the Cavs coaching staff.

Okay, you're on one Radbourne. You're on a heater. Two hams, twenty dollars.

Next time, Kenny goes off the reservation.

Someone needs to play Corvette guy over what he's saying. Exactly, exactly. The second he starts going like that, see, the funny thing about Corvette guy, expected score. What this is really is our way of you running on too long, and then Corvette guy coming out of nowhere and running you off the road. That's why we play that song now.

When callers go too long, when they start off all right, like you drive down the road, you're doing fine. Then all of a sudden, we've had enough of you. And Corvette guy comes out of nowhere, weaving through traffic, and runs your ass right off the road. Kind of like F-150 guy does to me every single day in the country where I live now. Corvette guy.

All right, ATP guy. When we come back, ATPs, please ask us any of us anything you want. Don't forget, also we've got a podcast post show. Haven't done it yet, but I will as soon as the show is over. And that's with David Fizdale from NBA head coach.

Episode number four hundred and thirty-two of the Jim Rome podcast. We push that out every single Wednesday, so look for that. One final segment here, though. The ATP is next. You're listening to the Jim Rome Show.

I discovered your show on the Mighty Six Ninety in two thousand three. My ATP. What is your favorite hacksaw memory or story? Thanks, love the show, Baba. The Yoba Nancoto de Kaza.

Hmm, favorite hacksaw memory or story? There are no favorite memories. There are lots of stories. I don't know. When I think about hacksaw, I think my favorite thing of all.

You see him to this day still running around saying, "You know, John Lynch wanted to syndicate me and not Junior." And why didn't he? Why didn't you do it? Oh, because he bet on the right horse. What is that?

Well, roasted. He wanted to actually syndicate me. Yeah, but he didn't. I don't even know what that means. But whatever that means, that's my favorite because to this day he still says it.

Any time I see him pop up, he's saying that, bro. If I am as old as I am, what are you ninety? How? Why are you still saying that? And what does it even mean, Armand Armadillo?

ATP in honor of Corvette guy. Which of your cars was your favorite and best reflected your personality? I mean, dude, it's got to be the Marikor. It's got to be the Marikor. Perfectly flawed.

Now, I don't know. I'm not. I don't want to say. I'm not trying to avoid the question. I just had a lot of really exotic whips back in the day.

And always kind of Loki that, and I just always I was a car guy. I just loved cars, man. I just always wanted a nice car, and I had lots of nice cars. And I don't know, I don't, I didn't have the that kind of appreciation. I just liked a nice rig.

I do not have a good answer. You actually stump me, Armand. I don't have a favorite all time car. I've liked, I've liked every car I've ever had except. The first car, the '67 Mustang, which was a piece of whining little babies, and the Maricor, which I loved, as I've mentioned, until it hit fifteen oh oh one on the odometer.

Man, you want to talk about planned obsolescence? The second, the warranty was up on that car. That thing had so many things go wrong with it. It was like it was clockwork. God, it was a dream, man.

Absolute dream. Love that car. Until it hit fifteen oh oh one, Jimmy. Did Logan drag you and Janno to that hellhole that is the sink in Boulder? Apologies if you have been forced to go there.

Peace, PJ in Denver, graduate of the more authentic school in our state, Colorado State University. War for Collins, Boulder. No, War for Collins better than Boulder hands down. Yeah, I don't know, dude. Nothing against Fort Collins.

As far as the sink, I know of it. We went by it this past trip. I think I have been there. I don't remember the experience, but I think we have been there. It's it's famous.

I think so. I'm sure. I'm a returning listener after a long absence. Who came up with the beef segment, and who decided to pair it with Old Trapper? Spare no details.

The architect of this holy union must be celebrated, Anthony in Wichita. I don't know that it's that deep. We have a trapper, and they've been a sponsor and a partner on the program for several years. Probably, I don't know who originally came up with the idea for the segment itself. Maybe KTK, maybe Old Trapper, maybe the person who initially sold the account.

It wasn't exactly big brain stuff. A beef segment with a beef jerky company. Are those enough details? All I know is it's a great segment. Welcome home, Anthony.

Welcome back, Sandlot. Will you guys and gals be in Halloween costumes on Friday? Listen, you know how I feel about that. Kids' freaking holiday, not a parent's holiday. I don't participate as a parent.

However, I haven't told anybody around here you can't do it. Cindy probably will do it. Cindy's all about. Positive energy, fun, celebrating holidays. Oh, she's not here on Friday.

Okay, would she engage if she were here on Friday? Here is a question: If Cindy's not here Friday, will she do it tomorrow? Don't know. Hey Tommy, are you gonna come as a vampire? Heyo, you don't you don't even need a costume.

Heyo again, dude. Are any of you guys doing this? Anybody? Alby. Alby, you can like Tommy.

You could show up as Brooke Digler, and you wouldn't even have to put on a costume. Not a very good come. Or or or. Rock your Dylan Gabriel jersey, and you can come as Dylan Gabriel. Alex Haddy, what are you gonna do, dude?

I I I think that probably we will not participate, but I'm not telling them they can't. My guess is they probably will not. Lauren, Lauren, how about you, bro?
