Powering our way into the final hour of the program. Still time for you to pick up the phone. It's all about urgency. Call the action. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six.

Although I already took a call last time I was here was early July. I took a call then. I think I am good for the next decade. But I'm trying to be open minded. Trying to evolve.

You kids keep telling me. It's not 1982 as much as I wish it were the case. Hit me up on the X platform chat. I am not going to jump into that boule ofays of vitriol after the program. I made the mistake of looking at the chat replay last time.

And look, I am jaded to a degree. I try not to be cynical, but I'm definitely sarcastic. I was shocked. It's like when you think this is going to be PG thirteen, and then you read some of that stuff.

So thankfully, Tommy is filtering the negativity that you folks are just bathing in, and we will have more of your interaction in twenty minutes. We will also. Hit the ATP, and then coming up in forty minutes. In addition to the NFL, I am going to cover. Presently, we will get expert analysis from another athletic journalist, Ted Win, good friend of the program, good friend of mine.

Whenever I am lucky enough to fill in for any of the premier brands that allow me to gravy train off of them, Ted breaks down the film.

Now I don't. I didn't need the all twenty-two to process the atrocity that was Bo Nix last night. But I'll ask Ted because he's also much more measured than your fill-in Hacking Magoo. How he saw that game last night, and yes, I'm sure he watched it in its entirety. It's his job, after all.

Listen up, clones. Not all beef jerky is the same. All trappers. Original, old-fashioned teriyaki, hot and spicy, and peppered all come in four-ounce bags. You can sample different flavors to find the best one for you.

Ask for Old Trapper by name because no other jerky compares. Old Trapper, what is your beef? We have spent a lot of time understanding that the audience is always changing on Thursday night football. The best part of that game, and I'm not uniform guy. And I will steal from the Hall of Famer.

If you're over 12 years old, you should not be walking around with a jersey with someone else's name on it. Nor should you have your own name on it. Nor should you think it's clever to have a jersey that has 69 or D's nuts.

However, the glory that was popping off, and and for all my. Critiques of the Prime Video coverage. The video is sensational. Although now here is the rant: streaming baseball game on cable. Old man Magoo here, trying to go pitch by pitch, and now I'm behind.

I know there are ways of catching up. In fact, I finally broke it down, and I know this is a novel idea. I put the baseball game on my computer. The fact that I could pull that off with my TRS-80, and I had to dial up the old CompuServe modem for the boo. I got it going just in time for Otani's home run, and then.

And I am going to kick the Dodgers while they're down because of two reasons. I'm originally from New York. I can't like the Dodgers on any level. Secondarily. Not only is this the softest media market.

Now here's where the tough guy kicks in. You take on media members that you won't interact with. The nature of the fandom, and I understand it in many ways. Los Angeles was a backwater town in the late 1950s. The Dodgers added a veneer of professionalism when they came west with the Giants.

Dodger fans are just annoying, and and then you turn on the local news and you see. "Quote unquote journalists wearing Dodger jerseys doing a live shot at Chavez Ravine." So I was happy that the Dodger dynasty, at least, is now on pause, and it's a better story for baseball and one that contradicts the salary cap narrative that the Little Brewers, and that is completely pejorative on a big word Friday, am wrong because we've been paying attention. Milwaukee's been relevant for the better part of eight years. Still. Team with the best record, best winning percentage at home, best run differential was the better team.

I am surprised they pulled off the sweep, but baseball produces weird outcomes. The footnote to Thursday night football wasn't it awesome if you watched or listened on Westwood One Sports, and I'm sure the word picture was painted in vivid detail.

Now the old school unis felt like the old days in the King Dome. David Craig ain't walking through that door. Candidly, that was the highlight of last night.

Now I have been. Just giving you straightforward observations on what I think are undeniable in terms of what we saw last night and takeaways and what it means moving forward. Sam Darnold attempted fifty-one passes. After Seattle only had forty net passing yards in the first half, now that's not his fault because they have no healthy running backs, and they have not come up with contingency plans to give them any support on the ground. Sam Darnold.

Is effective when you minimize his opportunities to turn over because he's been a turnover machine going back to USC when he was one of the best quarterbacks in the nation, and the interceptions have become more horrific. Back in Trojan land, he just couldn't hang on to the football. He had a penchant for fumbling, like Tiki Barber back in the day.

So Seattle has already matched the three losses from all of last year, three and three in the division that includes the undefeated. 9ers who outlasted them on Sunday, a Rams team that has a losing record at two and three, but is now just going to mow through a ridiculously easy schedule: Cardinals, Raiders, Chargers at Washington, at Arizona, doubling up against. Mike Lefors' team—they'll be seven and three on the buy.

So the situation for Seattle is this: when we go wild card hunting in the NFC, where do you slot them? With the hope, at some point one of these running backs gets healthy enough, and we're getting closer to Price, the rookie from Notre Dame, coming off IR. That defense is going to be there, and you take the burden off of Sam Darnold and have him throw 28 times. What do you know? That's the equation that worked to win one of the most boring Super Bowls of the modern era.

I felt like since everything I say is moored in decades ago, like the old crappy Super Bowl. That we had in the eighties and nineties. On the other side of the field, again, just pointing out facts; these are not opinions. Bonics was horrific. Bonics is regressing from his rookie season.

If you care about things like completion percentage, quarterback rating, the numbers have cratered.

Now you could say, "Hey, fake loudmouth." Whatever your name is, and for the record, it's Brian Weber in for Jim Rome. Coming up in less than 15 minutes, more interaction, and we'll pay off the "Ask the Pros" question brought to you by our pals at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Yeah, he's coming back from having that horrific leg injury in the final moments of a divisional round game in which he hung with Josh Allen. I guess you could say statistically, outplayed him, but because. In part, Josh Allen is incredibly reckless with the ball, and now I think he's been empowered because his handpicked head coach is his buddy, and especially now with James Cook having fumbleitis, Josh is saying, "I'm going to do whatever I want." I mean, what do you have?

Twelve completions and that overtime game, something like that. But I'm off on a tangent. Am I telling you how to make a watch? It all comes down to this: Bo Nix is not getting better. Doesn't matter who's calling the plays.

Even though Sean Payton tried to commit professional suicide with the whole streaming world watching last night with his play calling after he got the gift of the Sam Darnold interception inside the two minute warning, just lost his mind, or he's so full of himself he figures I can do whatever I want. I don't know why he threw on third down when the whole goal is to. Salt away the clock, and Bo Nix almost threw an interception. Bo Nix last night, a hundred and seven yards. Denver, a hundred and sixty-eight total yards.

First Bronco win since the pride of Lehigh and Stanford Junior University. John Elway was their quarterback with less than a hundred and seventy-five yards of total offense in nineteen eighty-three.

So those are the facts. You want to. Blazing hot opinion. You want a flamethrower?

Well, if you stuck around for the postgame show on Prime Video, Ryan Fitzpatrick decided to go thermonuclear when asked to assess the play of Bo Nix. O'Nix is not playing competitively. It's almost disrespectful to the quarterback position how he's playing football. What do you mean? What do you mean when you see what?

How is he playing? I mean, first of all, the guy doesn't want to throw the ball. That's fine. He's throwing to the flats. He's throwing behind, but he has no trust from his coach.

He calls a screen play on third and eight. Just run up and let the clock keep going. What's he do? He throws it away. Seattle gets the ball.

They have a timeout, and then in overtime, he's got two chances to be competitive. The last one being a designed run for him, to run, make somebody miss, and get a first down for your football team.

Now they're in the locker room, fired up.

Now they're excited. They won. He's not playing competitive football right now. You're playing competitive. I love this.

You're fired up. Look, if you're, if I love your passion about this because if you're this fired up and you're not on this team or you're not one of these fans, I can only imagine how they feel. I can only imagine how Sean Payton feels. I mean, Sean Payton, Davis Webb, everybody that blocks for him—he's not competing right now, and that's something that he's hung his hat on for the last two years. I don't know if he's still injured, I don't know what's going on, but it's not good enough.

It's effort. And if you were enjoying the audio experience, the person asking the follow-up questions, the host of that program, Carissa Thompson. Just to clarify the voices you were hearing, I'm Brian Weber, and for Jim Rome, well, not competing is pretty damning, right? And did you ever hear that Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Harvard? Did you know that Matthew Stafford and Clayton Kershaw went to the same high school in the Dallas Metroplex area?

You would think that someone with an Ivy League education, although you are aware that they lower the academic standards even in the Ivy League for football and basketball players, just to take you behind the curtain. A fine school in Palo Alto does not do that. That's why we're never going to win a football game again. And yes, I went we on the eve of our 35th reunion, which I will not be attending for a myriad of reasons. Although the hair is hanging in there, and I did get the shoe polish going.

Not competing is an indictment.

Now, perhaps he meant he's not executing. Not competing means he's given up, and even I, as a fill-in hack, looking to garner your attention and gin up the algorithm, get the bots coming my way. I wouldn't say that because that's irresponsible and also not accurate.

Now, I don't want to put words in Ryan Fitzpatrick's mouth. That's why we played the sound in its entirety. I don't fully know, other than he was trying to bash him. Mission accomplished, but. Not competing to me is off the mark.

He's not been successful. That's true. He's not been accurate. That's also true. He's not been effective.

Should I keep going? Still. It is interesting when the national talking heads start to change their opinion, much like we've seen with Brock Purdy. And I am in the minority, and I'm having a tough time coming up with any. Take down a Brock this year.

I have to be a fool to bash him with 13 touchdowns and the single pick as they get ready for another winnable game after having to battle on the road in Seattle. It'll be on a tee when they take on the floundering Commanders on Monday Night Football. The question becomes: How much can you believe in a team if you don't believe in their quarterback? And I'm putting Brock Purdy on the margins here, Denver. Can ride their defense again.

They have gone through that challenging gauntlet of games to start the year, and they've emerged a four and two. I think if you're a Bronco fan, I told you you'd be three and three based on the quality of opponents in those six games. You would have taken it. And another Sean McVay specialty. How did Denver come back in that game?

Well, Sean forgets how to run the football, but he's a genius. Just ask him. The losses Denver has suffered, both two undefeated teams, they got the doors blown off against Kansas City for a couple reasons in the season opener because Kenneth Walker ran wild, and I'll give Bo the alibi that he was rounding back into form, coming back from his. Injury, and then the loss of the 49ers. Still, at some point, doesn't he have to make a play?

One play, because he did nothing last night. You can come back at me and say 15 and two are the Broncos in one score games, and I don't have an explanation for it other than sports can get weird. And that's really not a compelling argument. Brian Weber in for Jim Rome last hour, and if you missed any of the portion of the program that I'm alluding to in the past, I do it for a reason. You can enjoy the podcast.

Daily Jungle comes out shortly after the conclusion of the show. We went through the games that matter when we check in with Ted Win of the Athletic coming up in 25 minutes. We're going to spend time on a few other. Matchups, namely, what is going on in Philadelphia now? Not only are they looking for any answers, having dropped three in a row, and they could have lost that game to Tennessee.

Now you have Jalen Hurts with blood clot issues—that's scary—and timetables are nebulous.

So it's the Tanner McKee error. Saquon not going to go, presumably, with his hamstring injury. They have a ton of walking wounded, and Carolina is by now. Bryce Young has gotten better. Look, this is the team that won their division because somebody had to win the crappy NFC South last year.

The line is shifted on that game. Carolina now favored on the road in Philadelphia. Let's just say, for the sake of argument, Philadelphia loses another game. I realize every NFL insider that Jim speaks to, and this week Mike Jones of the Athletic was one of those, says that Sirianni is still respected in house, and that it's too early to talk about knee-jerk reactions, especially now with the mitigating circumstances of Hertz. And remember, for Hertz, this is the last year of meaningful guaranteed money.

So the team can move on from him in the off season without a massive cap hit. You wonder what the future for Hurts looks like, having won a Super Bowl and gone to another, and played well in that loss. And what about Sirianni? And he can have all of the affection and endorsement from Howie Roseman and Jeff Lurie, Jeffrey Lurie. But it's Philadelphia.

If this team just craters. Doesn't have? Don't you have to look at the head coach and say, and I'm stealing from Jim, so I just want to give him credit. What does he do exactly? Because it's Fangio's defense.

He apparently just hires new offensive coordinators every year to make them the fall guy. And how is that beneficial to Jalen Hurts? He's a motivator, all right. Rock, paper, scissors, all you want. He's obviously not a clock manager.

If this thing gets more gruesome. I'm not just calling for heads. I'm just telling like it is. I don't see how he survives, but we will pose that question potentially when we speak with Ted Win of the Athletic. I'm Brian Weber, and for Jim Rome, coming up interaction and the crescendo of that specialty.

We will answer the Ask the Pros question as we continue here on the Jim Rome Show. Every small business owner dreams of scoring a touchdown. For me, that touchdown was finding Gusto, the online payroll and benefits software built for small businesses. Gusto is all-in-one, remote-friendly, and has every play covered. You're listening to the Jim Rome Show. Jim Rome takes on sports. Everybody pointed out the obvious Harbaugh connection, and everybody, as it turns out, was right because nine is officially now a New York Giant. You know, you talk about selling low. Even the Niners got a fourth for Trey Lance.

He's out of the building. We will take that fifth pick, and we will surely turn it into something more valuable than nine ever was to this organization. The Jim Rome Show podcast. Follow and listen on your favorite platform. Brian Weber back with you, winding down here to ease into the interaction.

That means our good friend Ted Wynne, senior NFL writer of the Athletic, is warming up. He is in our immediate future, coming up in 15 minutes, talking more NFL to wrap up the program with style points. The best news that I can overenunciate is this: Jim Rome back on Monday. Our long national nightmare is coming to a close, and we'll have all the fallout from the NFL weekend. Jim on campus for.

The final Parents' Weekend. He and Dodger Jeno must be very proud. Rogan Loam. Rogan Loam going to walk the stage in June.

So I'm sure. In addition to the staple of the program on the road with Jim. A Jack Kerouac kind of figure. He'll be talking a lot of college football with the key takeaways of the latest game of the year in the Big Ten top five showdown between Indiana and Ohio State in Bloomington that we covered an hour ago with Scott Doctorman of the Athletic. Reminder: If you miss any part of any show, you can listen anytime on demand by downloading the Daily Jungle Podcast.

And with that, we say hello, Tommy. Bonus eight.

Okay, a lot to get to. Let's start with straight reaction, straight cash homing. Bank is open on a second day. No more. I'm running the board from the side of the bus, which I know is coming in the future.

The more you can do, I have an FCC license in perpetuity from 1988, KZSU 90.1 FM, Stanford, Ryan in Sactown. Before I read this, Ryan, let me be the last to applaud you when he broke down the bus family kerfuffle. And precise estate term parameters, blown away.

Now I don't know if it's going to carry over this, but my man knows his actuarial tables. He knows. What a tort is. Web Hawks will be fine.

Okay, that's fine.

So disregard everything I've said for the last two hours twenty five minutes. Meantime, Niners have seven starters on the wrong side of thirty. We're only in week six. Niners are like Elon's flying car, an engineering marvel when everything works, but one loose bolt, the whole thing is grounded. Maintaining his momentum from his legal analysis.

If you're watching on the simulcast, here's the reference. I don't believe this for a moment. Everything is AI. Also, even if that's real, what's the point?

Now, look, not to belabor the fact. I'm damn old. I grew up watching the Jetsons. The generation after was on the air. I want my rocket car.

Where is all this stuff I was promised in 1978? Although I don't want that rocket car because it looks fraudulent. And if you care about my opinion, this is not endorsement. Rivian is a very attractive automobile in that space. Hey, we're going international, and that's straight ripoff from Back to the Future.

Not the third one when they went back to the Wild Wild West. Hey, Miss Niga is across the pond. I'm back, London calling. Where Smiley YYC at to get into some trouble? Of course, it's Bella B, the Queen on the road with Big Ben behind her.

Not only are the Jags her beloved Jags, Duval. The UK's pride—they're one of the best teams in the AFC. Yes, they got a gift from Philadelphia Eagles. Got Sirianni, but think about the. Contrasting approaches to what has happened.

I know Baker Mayfield's banged up, but what's happened to the Bucks since Cohen got that job in Jacksonville? What has happened to Trevor Lawrence, the Alex Hardy look-alike? Jags are for real to form one, and I'll tread lightly with Nick the Clone. Probably not listening to a filling host, but even though Houston finally got that win over winless Tennessee, it feels like it's going to be a long trip too. Londontown against the Jags, who will raise their record to five and one, irrespective of the addition of Marvin Harrison Jr.

ATP time. We answer your Ask the Pros question. You, the clones, got to submit a question at Jim Room using the hashtag Ask the Pros on X. Sponsored by O'Reilly Auto Parts. Think O'Reilly Auto Parts for all your car care needs.

Get the parts and service you need fast from the professional parts people at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Haunted Horse.

Now, isn't he working on his own show? In addition to the symposium on how to get break takes read, and I enjoy haunted horse. We interact together a lot on the X platform. Brian, is it true ESPN hasn't offered Troy Aikman a contract extension because they're going to put you alongside Joe Buck for Monday Night Football? Couple things.

I appreciate the platitud. I used to be a mediocre play by play guy. That job is reserved for former athletes.

Now, I could give you a strong media perspective if you follow me on the X platform, BW Weber, Weber with two Bs. Like Bobby Chesney told his Bruins, heading onto the field at AT&T Stadium, I have burned the boats.

Now, you can burn bridges that don't exist, but if you're paying attention, I am fairly candid and forthright. In fact, my pseudo agent. Broadway Danny Rose, when he wasn't booking little people to work at a medieval fair, reached out to me. Said, "You are really spouting a lot of opinions that are going to make it difficult for me to get you more work." And I said, "Buddy, I don't need to remind you. What's the last time you booked me a job?

Also, how do you have a house?

Now, the good news is he has real clients, but long way to say I am not a candidate for that job. And if you would like my unvarnished opinion." Chore Aikman is the best thing on that broadcast. Look, I am not bashing Joe Buck. We are the precise same age. I will, I will tell you an autobiographical nugget.

I got a job in 1996 among many jobs I was probably not fully prepared for. I was the radio voice of the Stanford Cardinal because I was a Stanford alum.

So 1996, I was 26 years old. The voice had not rounded into form. Got better. Critique myself. There was a columnist; he's long since gone, in the San Jose Mercury News, who tried to compare me to Joe Buck, and say, "Why does the guy doing Stanford football not sound like Joe Buck?" And I said, "Well, two reasons.

My father was Willie Loman, selling penny stocks. His father was Jack Buck. I'm calling Stanford freaking football. Do I have to go second and four to the car?

So, if you wonder where this voice. Evolve from and the overenunciation, and I will find some old video, Alvin. I know you want to play more play-by-play cuts. You don't have me doing football. I'll bring it in.

Big game, 1999. If I'm invited back during the holidays, so long way of saying Joe Buck is very good at what he does. He also had a 10-year head start, a la Noah Eagle. Nothing wrong with nepotism if you deliver on it. I'm not bashing Joe Buck.

Joe Buck does an excellent job of keeping the train moving. I just prefer iconic broadcasters from a different generation: Bob Costas, Jim Lampley. I've been pushing out Don Criqui's greatest hits. We're guy, and look, I'm going to be even more hypocritical than normal. I started yelling about a decade ago just to make a couple bucks.

Understanding that stuff worked on social media. Not every play needs to be oversold. And go back and listen to the David Tyree catch when Joe Buck, by his own admission, was doing a Pat Summerville imitation, trying to be understated. My estimation, he's gone a little bit too far the other way. This is me as a phil and hoax now critiquing a man who reportedly signed a six-year deal for 100 million dollars.

Final thought: Troy Aikman knows exactly what he is doing. He is using the only leverage he can, which is now public acclaim. He'll be fine. He's going to land on one of the other seats, and we'll save that for my podcast, Voices of the Game with B. Webb, wherever you get your podcast.

We're going to take a phone call now. Let me set it up. Unless the staff is trolling me, which is fine, I deserve it. I know I am a lot, as my blessed mother used to say. I am told Parody Larry is waiting online.

That's not breaking news. Here's the payoff. There's not going to be a parody, Larry. According to reports, sources close to me indicate is going to have a straight sports take. Let us find out.

Hit the phone lines together, Larry. How are you, my friend? Brian Weber in for the Hall of Famer. Hey, B Web, I'm in New York City, baby, for my niece's wedding. Heading to the subway to go to Manhattan.

And I just wanted to say that October is fricking over. The Dodgers are done. Shohei can hohey himself to the bench with all those other pukes. Cause from Monrovia to Manhattan, the Canoga Park text not worth reading. I'm done.

Outro. Dodgers, love you, Bweb. And by the way, if Jake Rome sends me his phone number, I'll buy him a beer. Outro. If you're gonna do outro, you can't come back in with a footnote.

Thank you, Larry.

Now, Tom, I will not drag you on the air, but just nod. I cannot recall, and everyone knows my weepy story. Listening this program to the late. 90s when it came to San Francisco. When I was unemployed, living with my mother in Palm Springs, summer of two thousand three.

Before going to graduate school, I have a broad sample size. I cannot recall Larry just calling, and I get the animosity, and I get the anti-Mat LA sentiment, but for Larry to break character. That's like Marcel Marceau deciding, you know, I'm not going to mime today. Another contemporary reference. I'm not going to have a man against a brick wall.

Mime is money. Marcel Marceau spoke the only line, Alvin, in silent movie, the Mel Brooks extravaganza. And now you know the rest of the story. Download my podcast, The Silver Screen with B. Webb, wherever you get your podcast.

Okay. That was terrific.

Now here's the problem, gang, because I don't want to be demanding. Also, the way I stack the show is we always have a guest to wrap up the program. We're not going to have a week that was. If I was producing on the fly, I would just replay the entirety of parodying Larry calling out Matt in October. History made in the jungle.

Miracles can come true. Coming up, I touched on it.

Now we will go more in depth with Jalen Hurts missing Sunday's game against the Panthers due to blood clots, and that's a serious issue. Is Philly's rough start about to become much, much worse? And of course, Hurts's health is the priority, not a meaningless football game. Even if you're getting down, we'll find out. We say hello to Tedwin Senior NFL.

NFL writer for the Athletic, Brian Weber, with you, reveling in the glory of parody. Larry having a straight take on the Jim Rome show.

I'm Brian Weber. Always enjoying every opportunity I can to keep the chair warm for Jim Rome, the Hall of Famer, back with all of us on Monday. But we have more business to attend to before we step aside. Coming up at the top of the hour, always fun to talk NFL with Ted Win, senior NFL writer for the Athletic.

You can also check him out with the Just Win podcast, focusing on the Raiders. Ted, appreciate you taking the time. How are you? Doing well? How are you?

I'm doing better now that Thursday night football is over, and we are lucky to have these jobs and get compensated. And I know you break things down watching the tapes, so take me through what I might have missed. We know there were no style points. What were your biggest takeaways, and did you see any positives other than we know Denver's defense remains very stout?

Well, to me, it was a fun game in this in the sense that it was very chaotic. Like a lot of bad things happened, and it was really interesting, especially towards the end when things really unraveled. But this was a game where I thought Bo Nix was probably not as bad as he was in previous games because I just thought the Seattle defense did a really good job of covering routes, and there was really nothing available to him downfield. But it was just another game. That's part of a larger sample size of this season, where he just hasn't thrown the ball downfield.

He averaged less than one air yard per throw in this game. The offense only gained 33 yards after the second half into overtime, and somehow won the game.

So, this Broncos offense is still very much in question. And Sam Darnold continues continues to turn the ball over. Vance Joseph, the defensive coordinator for the Broncos, talked to Emmanuel Acho after the. Game and said he threw up kind of this changeup coverage to Sam Darnold at in overtime that caused him to throw the interception. But I went back and watched the tape, and he he threw that changeup in the second half already, and Sam Darnold got sacked on that same coverage.

So I don't know how you you don't take that coverage and clip or whatever and look at it on the the Microsoft Surface on the sideline and think this is what we're going to do next time we see it, or we should be aware of it because he. Throws that changeup again, and you you get intercepted in overtime.

So, since you break things down and really get into the nitty gritty, is that on Sam? Is that on the new play caller, or all of the above? You know, without being there, I can't. I wouldn't be able to know who exactly is. I think, as an offensive coordinator, you definitely want to bring that up to your your quarterback and say, if we see this coverage again, this is our plan.

Maybe that did happen on the sideline, and maybe Sam just wasn't aware of it during the game. But I would say it's a little bit of everybody. But obviously, the most fault comes on to Sam Darnold because he he ends up throwing that interception in overtime, biggest play of the game. Brian Weber for Jim Rome. Talking NFL with Ted Win of the Athletic, Ted to me, Darnold having issues is not that surprising because, as you know, go back to start last year, he leads the league in turnovers.

And if you ask him to throw it over fifty times, in part because you have no serviceable running backs, bad things are going to happen. I find Bo Nix more perplexing, so I'll turn it over to you. Do you think this is the residue of the injury from the end of the playoffs last year? Is this The shift in play calling, going back to Sean Payton. What is your theory as to what's going on with Bo Nix?

I think it probably does have a little bit to do with the injury and just getting confidence and running again because he had a lot of issues passing and and being conservative and not throwing the ball downfield until the fourth quarter hit and then he started throwing the ball downfield last season.

So some of those issues are coming up again this season, but the difference is he was more willing to scramble and create with his legs last season, and that made up for it. Whereas this season he's not really scrambling or moving at all.

So it it really takes a lot away from his game and the Denver Broncos' offense when he's not using his legs. Taylor, let's move to Sunday's slate, and I've been talking about the implication now of Jalen Hurts dealing with the blood clot issues after we found out it was a calf injury that was part of his approach on that debacle of a loss to Jacksonville. That was not his responsibility for the clock management. Issues that Nick Sirianni had. Watching the tape, how has Hurts looked to you, just mechanically and decision making?

And where do you think the Eagles go from here? Yeah, I think the Eagles are trying to convert him into this under center quarterback that can play under center, go play action. Because as he's getting older, they're not going to call those design runs for him a lot anymore. They'll call it in some high leverage situations, and he's actually an effective scrambler. But they're not going to call like a quarterback power read for him like they did early in his career.

So now they're trying to transition him to become more of an under center traditional quarterback, and it hasn't gone well. I mean, going back to training camp, I had people tell me he threw, he's throwing a ton of interceptions, missing guys in the middle of the field, and that's translated into the regular season. There's guys open in the middle field, he's not seeing them, and he, you know, he's just not playing very well. He does make, he still can make plays, especially throwing to the sideline, but this offense just does not seem like it fits his strengths. And then now he's injured and he's out, so we'll see what Tanner McKee could do.

Maybe he's a better fit in the. Offense, but it wasn't going well even before this blood clot issue. And I wish him the best. Forty Nineers undefeated, looking to go to six and zero with a winnable game at home against the reeling Commanders. I am not asking you this in the past.

We've had many conversations. Are you pro Brock Purdy? Do you think he is a game manager? And how do you sum up why he has played lights out to start this year? I am pro Brock Purdy.

I mean, I I didn't think he was in that elite tier or that real solidified top ten tier before this year. And the main reason was he was turning the ball over a lot. His his turnover rate was well above four percent last year, and then this year it's gone down to I think two percent or even lower than that. It might have it might have jumped up because he he did throw a couple interceptions two weeks in a row, but he's taking it a lot. Better care of the ball.

I think you know he just seems so comfortable in this offense, and he's making plays outside of structure. His scrambles have been a big, big part of his offense.

So I really do think he's becoming solidified in that top ten tier. And at this point, it's just really hard to try to suss out what part of it is a system, what part of it is Brock Purdy. But we can't deny there is a Shanahan effect just because we've seen it on so many quarterbacks before. Ted Williams. Of the athletic is our guest as we take you across the NFL.

That is Monday Night Football. Sunday Night Football should have been the Micah Parsons ball. Unfortunately, he's still dealing with a knee injury. We know the Packers have had a ton of injuries. Maybe that was part of a slow start for Jordan Love.

What did the tape tell you about his performance against the Bears when he put up really nice numbers on Sunday? Yeah, I mean the big issue with the Packers is their offensive line. I mean it's untenable offensive line, and they had to bring in some reinforcements. Guys that weren't even there for training camp are starting, and they played pretty decently against the Bears.

So we'll see if that can continue. But what they basically did was just say our strength strength is throwing the ball deep, and we'll use play action. We'll put seven in protection, whatever it takes for Jordan Love to get these deep. Shots off, and it paid off. Christian Watson, one of the best deep ball receivers in the league, Matthew Golden has become one of the best deep threats in the league.

One of the better number two guys.

So this is where they have to eat and butter their toast is throwing the ball downfield. And if the offensive line can hold up to get these shots, and they have to do whatever is necessary for for them to help the offensive line, that's how they have to live. As the host of the Just Win podcast, Raiders have been. An interesting story now coming back to reality it seems, and I'm not getting into the forecasting and handicaps, but I would like the Bills in that game.

So let's say the Raiders go to three and three, make it three consecutive losses internally. How do you think the Raiders are going to approach a timeline? And we saw Mendoza make his NFL debut in the closing moments of that blowout in New England. What do you think it's going to take for Mendoza to blow past Kirk Cousins and become the starting? Quarterback.

I think Kirk is playing good ball right now, and I think you know he did struggle in that last game. But I still think he he's playing at a high level, and if you can protect him, he's going to throw the ball downfield. He's very accurate. He knows what he's seeing.

So I don't think it's going to be a Kirk problem. It's more going to be does a team feel like they're out of contention? If they feel like they're out of contention, and Mendoza could add something to his offense, then they're going to make the change. And I do think it's going to happen at some point. Maybe.

A little later. I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. My guess is the bye week in week thirteen is when they're going to make that change. But right now, the offense is hampered by. Kirk's lack of arm strength because teams are playing up; they're blitzing him at you know cover zero blitzes, challenging him to throw deep, and he really doesn't have the arm strength to do it right now.

And they can't run bootlegs, and bootlegs are a big part of what Kubiak wants to do. But at the same time, he's executing offense; he's making his checks; he's getting the ball into the right places; throwing the ball on time; not stressing out his offensive line.

So he's doing those good things. But I do think week thirteen teams. The bye week is is probably where we're going to see a change. I now will have it circled because I just want to impress you, old school guy, still writing stuff out. Put that computer away, Ted.

Well, I didn't dink win this. We're gonna land the plane on time. What do you know? I even have time for a final thought. You know, 1982, it was a wonderful time.

Big hair was in. Black and white photos were taken. Lorne is asleep, so I'll just keep calling for a still shot that will not appear. Good news is I'll have it on my phone when I head out tonight, leaving the makeup on. Always a good way because you know I'm 56 and single for a reason to meet potentially the future Mrs.

Brian Weber or ex. Mrs. Brian Weber by showing them a black and white photo of a guy with Ron McDonald hair. Alvin, do you know Ron McDonald? In 1982, there we go on the fly.

Act like I'm on the ballot. Why is he saying that? You think he doesn't know what he's doing? That is the X factor, folks. Elections are a math issue.

That is it. This is not a football game. If you vote, we will win. It is not complicated. The Dan Vontino Show.
