Into hour number three, hour number three of the Jim Rome Show, which is presented by FanDuel. Don't forget, Thursday we will have FanDuel segment. James Kelly, James Kelly is having a better week than I am, FanDuel wise. But I'm looking for a bounce back. All right, so we move into our third hour.

We are open right now.

Some quick reaction, and then I'm going to talk about the Steelers. Jay in Tampa on chat: "Quote Why? Why?" is offended because Jim is complimentary of his guests and honest about the stupidity of most clones. You know, yes. See, see, why?

Why? This is why Jay in Tampa gets his chat submissions read because he's good at it. And this is why you don't, because you're not good at it. And it's not because you came at me. It's just you came at me with something lame that wasn't even actually true.

Jay in Tampa is one of those guys that we probably read too much of. Like, do not have anybody in chat besides Jay in Tampa. He's just that good. He's consistent. That's why he gets in.

And if I don't read your submissions, that doesn't mean you should turn on me like it's my fault. If I don't read your submissions, it's generally your fault. I read anything that makes the show better, and then some things that don't. Example: Salty Sarah, quote. Please name your new cat Badger.

Do it for Woody. Damn, Sarah! Could you be any saltier? Could you be any thirstier? Could you be any more parched?

Do it for Woody. Badger is already off the table. Janet said somebody else named an animal badger for Wisconsin roots. That that that's not there. Let me tell you about this cat.

I'm not gonna tell you about the cat. This cat's already taken over our lives. There's already been major drama with the new ragdoll. Like you can't even believe what's going on in the house with this cat already, already. But I won't get into it.

Instead. Let's talk about the Steelers.

Now we had a good time last week with that incredibly awkward moment between longtime spouses. I mean, they seem like a married couple, right? Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers. I'm not saying they're spouses. I'm saying they bicker like an old married couple.

You know, the one where everybody could clearly see and even hear Aaron yelling at the big fella. What the bleep? Call it, call it. What's the play? And as a quarterback, I can see whereby he needs the play.

Get it in here. What is the play? The clock is winding down, and then he got the big fella responding by rolling his eyes and saying, "Bleeping a hole." So it was funny because it was awkward, and we got such a clear view of it. I mean, there's really no dispute, right? They even mocked it on the broadcast.

It was one of those classic Aaron Big Fella moments. But I'm still a little confused why they're still talking about it in Pittsburgh. How have you not moved on already? Why is this still a thing? It was a funny, awkward moment, but it's becoming more and more awkward and less and less funny.

The more the big fella talks about it. For instance, check out this word salad. Not that he would know anything about salad. Who? Check out this word salad that the big fella came up with yesterday.

When asked if he would call that a normal interaction with Aaron, I wouldn't classify as normal. No, but I think the reality of it is, you know, it's the It's a twenty-year relationship, you know. I think the fact that we were able to sit and talk numerous times, you know, over the weekend about that and a number of things, but yeah, I, you know, I specifically, as I stated, you know, I'm hopefully not putting pressure on my daughter. I'm, I'm getting the grandfather age, you know. I don't want to be saying those type of words, but it's an emotional.

An emotional, competitive environment.

So, but yeah, that's. I think it's something that we can we can definitely learn from. Damn, Mike. Lighten up, Grandpa. Nobody died.

I also have no idea what any of that word salad meant. I just know there was just so much creamy dressing, Grandpa. And bacon bits, and croutons sprinkled onto that word salad that Big Mike might even be willing or tempted to eat it. Like you know what, I've got enough garbage on that that that's practically an ice cream sundae. Maybe I will try my first ever salad.

You're getting to quote grandfather age. The hell does that have to do with anything, Gramps? Why are you acting like this? Why not act like that was just a funny little exchange instead of acting like you're actually butthurt or this a serious world issue that you're trying to solve? Like, dude, lighten up!

How are you not laughing this off? Like, like, why so solemn? Why so glum? But that's not all. Big Mike was being dramatic about yesterday.

Check out the way he described the Steelers' issues as a whole. I'll give him credit for trying to keep it real. I'm just not exactly sure what the big fellow means when he says the Steelers' house is not clean right now. That's really part of why we're going about tomorrow the way we're going about it because we need to clean our own house. Our house is not clean right now.

No. No, you should bring in a maid service or something. Your house is not clean right now. What does that mean? Does that mean you are not playing clean football?

Does that mean that t here is in house drama? Does that mean that people are leaving dishes in the sink? Does that mean they're throwing their dirty clothes all over the place and they can't find the hamper? Like, how does that even mean? I know this much.

Whatever it means. It's more important than you rehashing what happened between you and Aaron. And even if somebody asked you, and that's why you answer the question, you don't need to answer the question like that, Gramps. I'm sure Steeler fans very happy to hear all this. Big Mike's like, you know, those Twinkie wrappers are not going to throw themselves away.

Those little Debbie wrappers are not going to jump in the trash can by themselves. We need to clean our own house because our house is not clean right now. My leftover fast food is everywhere. Again, what does he mean by we need to clean our own house? Didn't they just clean house?

When they wiped out the guy who had been the head coach for the previous two decades, this was supposed to be a newly cleaned house. House is clean, new coat of paint, new carpeting, new collaboration between a coach and a QB that knew each other so well. How in the world did that house get so messy so fast? Wait now, do we get? Do we have to throw a tent over that house and blot all the termites too?

That always looks like fun. And why are you still talking about that exchange with Aaron? The exchange was the only positive to come out of that game last week. Stop acting like that was somehow the biggest yellow and black or blacking yellow controversy ever. We would all much rather watch the Mike Tomlin show, you know, the one where he shows off his Minecraft city, than watch Big Mike keep trying to explain why he and Aaron got into what they got into, and Aaron showed him up like that, and why he's still sullen about it and glum and butthurt.

Steeler fan. I understand why you're exasperated, but it's been exasperating a few weeks, so I get it.

However, the worst kick in the stick for Steeler fan had to be C. Had to be my guy Joey Porter Sr.

Now this was something Joey Porter Sr. showing up at the Cowboys game. Rocking a cowboy uniform and rubbing elbows with cowboy fan.

Now this is incredible. First game victory. Almost forgot what it's like. Walking through hostile environments from game day, they tried to take me away from football for four weeks. I forgot what it felt like, man.

I forgot how intense it gets. It feels, it feels like I'm back at home. I'm a boy. We the boys. Football is back.

Let's go. They held us down for three weeks. They put us down on the man. Football is back. We the boys.

Love Sundays.

Okay, now that's something to be upset about, Steeler fan, right? You think, man? That's just Joey Porter in all his glory. We them boys, we them boys. How about them Cowboys?

They tried taking football away from me for four weeks. Already got a win. We them boys. How about them Cowboys? At Pittsburgh, posted Joey Porter Senior says they try to take him away from football for four weeks.

Clear shot at the Steelers. Man, my man is rocking a cowboy jersey, all smiles on the concourse. We them boys. How about them cowboys? You see, that's why I always love that dude.

That is hilarious. Any Steeler fan that sees that, that's in their feelings, has got to chill out. Of course, that dude is going to support his own son. Of course, Joey Porter is going to show up to support Joey Porter, and of course, Joey Porter's favorite team is whatever team Joey Porter is on. If you don't like seeing either Joey Porter in a cowboy uniform, I get it.

And by the way, they're both in cowboy uniforms, so I understand why you don't like that. You just can't expect the guy to stay loyal to the Steelers over his son.

So no, this was not surprising to me at all. Just like seeing the big fella and Aaron bickering was not surprising at all. The only surprise is that we're not over that yet and haven't turned the page for some reason. Steeler fan, I I know how angry you can get. I have felt it personally, but are you really going to be angry with Joey Porter talking junk?

Are you really going to be angry with Joey Porter Senior wearing a cowboy jersey? Joey Porter Junior is wearing a cowboy jersey, and do you know why that is? Your team traded him. Do you expect Joey Porter Senior not to be excited about the team that Joey Porter Junior plays for? They have the same name.

Come on, Steeler fan. I'm sorry. I'm sorry that hits too close to home, but that is hilarious. He's in all his glory. He's lost nothing.

He's out there laughing out loud at you. You know why? You took football away from him for four weeks, and now he's got it back. And in his first week back, he has a win. Laugh out loud, man!

That is so funny. That is so funny. Steeler fan, a reaction because I am sure you feel differently. I can't stop laughing. I can't stop laughing because he can't stop laughing.

D's X8H. Your son took you away from football for four weeks while he pretended he was injured. Oh, oh, that's something new.

Somebody who oh, all of a sudden doesn't feel well because their contract's not being taken care of. Let's not act like he's the first guy to ever do that. No Rome, no Rome. Again, Rome wrong as always. Joey Porter Jr.

invented that move. Nobody's ever done that before. Nobody in the history of the world has ever been hurt only to be miraculously cured when they ended up on a new team.

Well, that's something new. You're upset about that, Joseph Gobel. Mike McCarthy reminds me of John Candy in the Great Outdoors. Hey, if I can get a dessert down him, will you throw in hats for the kid? Hey Joe, did you change your handle thinking that would improve the quality of your takes, or is that just you in chat as opposed to you?

Anyway, I don't care, Mister Rome, Big Mike. Should get some advice from Jordan. War, not talking about this. Not talking about this. War, Alvy the goat, Patrick in Brooklyn.

It would have been better if he did that. Believe me, believe me. If he had just said, "We've already covered this." I'm not talking about this. It would have been better than him getting out that giant salad bowl, mixing it up, throwing some more, throwing an entire bottle of dressing on it, and croutons, and pulling out all the other tomatoes and vegetables, and pretending that it was ice cream. He should have done that.

This guy's got me. You know, I thought this, bro. You know, I thought this. This guy goes way back. Mark P.

Sixty Eight. Don't you mean Joey Eugene Porter? Romy, Jim, you got to stop killing me with the Joey Eugene Porter. You killing me? You don't got to let everybody know my government.

Every time you do it, I get more taxes than you can understand. Like every time you call me that, they blow my phone up. It's my man, Joey Eugene Porter. I always did that out of respect. He was the first one that hit me with, my man.

You got to stop going with my government. You killing me. You killing me, dude, with my government. Every time you do that, people are blowing me up via text. Rome just went with your government again, and I always did out of respect.

Like Joey Eugene Porter, my man, done it again. In fact, you know what? Joey Eugene Porter, your act in that cowboy jersey was absolutely awesome. Made me laugh. I see you working, pops.

I see you working. I I get it. They took the game away from you, Joey Eugene Porter, and they did it for four weeks. You should enjoy that dub. You got yourself a new team, Joey Eugene Porter.

I hope that works his way back. I love Joey Eugene Porter. Nice job, Mark. Way to bring that up. Brave little toasted one.

Quote: S.M.H. Eagle fan. You should be beside yourself today. Lane is a sure shot Hall of Famer and a true bird. Should be getting nothing but love today, especially when he cited mental health as the reason.

I think that's giving Eagle fan or Philly fan a lot of credit. You know what, though, that's not coming from an Eagle fan. That's why. That's why. That's why that was so reasonable.

Yeah, look. Let's be fair. I don't think that Philly fan is gonna tomahawk a gray goose bottle at him. I don't even know what their reaction is. I'm not seeing it from them.

I'm just saying, man. Don't act like this guy quit. All right, he retired. It's a major distinction between those two things, and he did cite mental health, and he's been a mental health advocate. and I think that he's dealing with something.

We're all dealing with something, and I don't know what he's dealing with, but if he's shutting it down and retiring four games in, he is dealing with something, and it's heavy and it's a lot, and he needs to deal with that. That's his priority. You think that guy ever wanted to abandon the fight? You think this guy ever wanted to abandon his teammates? I don't know what he's dealing with, but he's dealing with something.

Eagle fan reaction. If not from you, then from whom? Kenan say, dude, Ken. Rome, Lane Johnson should just suck it up. And put his Xbox in the microwave.

Sincerely, Quinn Pitcock. This was 2012. Quinn Pitcock. This this was a thing on the show, and I never wanted it to be a thing on the show. But you clones made it a thing on the show.

I used to think any addiction is a weak minded person, but you know, once you become an addict of something, your view is completely changing. I quickly realized that what people are talking about when you have a physical need for the thing, even though I mentally did not want to play anymore, I would always I would break the games or get rid of it, you know, burn them, put in the microwave. But the next morning, I physically needed to play, and I would go out and buy another game and have to start playing again for the rest of the day. You know what's so crazy about that is is how the guy was so. Blatantly mocked, like he said, I was addicted to video games.

Like it was running my life. I couldn't focus. I was distracted, and it got so bad that I knew that I had to quit. I had to quit. I had to quit.

So I would either destroy the console, or I put it in the microwave. That's what everybody latched onto. Like this dude. This dude's addicted to video games to the point where it's affecting his ability to play, like, like to do his job.

So he would put it in his microwave and then run right back out to the store the next day to buy another one. And everybody thought that was just like so insane, but but it's not. It's like any other addiction. Believe me, people are addicted to a lot of different things, including video games. You know, I can remember my mother back in the day when I was a little kid, when when smoking was a thing, a real thing.

I can remember her calling me up in the house and saying, "Jimmy, get my cigarettes, flush them down the toilet." What she didn't do is tell me put them in the microwave. Hey, listen. It's like your phone, right? How many of you watching right now are listening or addicted to your phones? All of you, ninety-five percent of you.

What's the first thing you do in the morning? Do you give yourself a half hour before you pick up your phone?

Now, here to lecture, just asking. What is the first thing you do in the morning? You look at your phone. Why don't you put your phone in the microwave? You know you're addicted.

Anyway, that that's where Ken pulled that from. A two pause. We can't put the chat in the microwave to fix our crack addiction.

Now you can't shove chat in the microwave, but you can shove the device in which you access chat in the microwave. Do it. Do it. Yeah, I don't want to scare off any of our users because you know we need participation, we need engagement. But you know what?

Some of you, some of you are engaging, and you'll never see the light of day on show. I'm just going to be real, real clear about that. I can't stop you from engaging in chat. I'm glad that you like chat. I'm glad that you found community in chat.

Just know your submissions are whack. They will never make it on air. You can chat all day long. I'm not going to block you. I'm not going to stop you.

I'm not even going to discourage it. I'm just going to be real with you. You will never, ever get on air. Knowing that, maybe you should put your phone in the microwave. Put it on high.

You know microwaves have settings like popcorn, potato, pizza, iPhone 16. Set it to iPhone 16. Put it in there. You know you should do also. You know how you ever do this?

How do you bake your potatoes? I don't know about you. I'm not really culinary inclined, but I always don't.

Somebody told me this once. Probably my mother. I don't know. I stab my baked potato like seven times with a fork. Put it in the microwave for seven or eight minutes.

Then I put it in the oven. Do that with your phone. Stab your phone seven or eight times. Put it in the microwave. Blow that thing up.

You know, like Quinn Pickhock did with his console, bro. Quinn, I apologize for all of them. I I understand. You're addicted. A Kenneth E.

Five Hundred Three. Addicted to Lorne. Oh, well played. Aren't we all, Lauren Hub? Can't get off it, can't get off that site, Lauren Hub.

Aren't we all? Who's not addicted to Lauren? Joseph Price, thirty-two, eleven. Why play in the NFL when you can sit home and watch the Jim Rome show and troll chat?

Okay, number one, it's safer. But number two, it doesn't pay as well. It doesn't pay at all. I, I, in terms of Lane, if Lane retired in large part to deal with mental health, going into our chat is not going to help his mental health. I don't think that's why he retired.

To troll chat on this program. At finish W, I'm addicted to stroganoff. I will gladly stick it in the microwave. Steven Seagal. I'm gonna take you to the bank, Senator Trent.

The stroganoff bank. I'm addicted to stroking off. I will gladly stick it in the microwave. Steven Seagal, that is well done. At finished W.

That's it. That's a W right there, bro. That that's when that guy leaned out. How old is that video?

Well, when's the last time that guy looked that good? That that was like back in the under siege days almost. Come on, dude. Come on, Lauren. Dude, that was at least 150 pounds ago.

You know, sort of. Look at all these kids. It' like he's Bruce Lee. Like all the all these guys are coming down. I'm like Enter the Dragon.

There's two dudes that are willingly going down to make him look good. Allegedly. Oh, we better break right. NordVPN. NordVPN now comes with a next-gen antivirus.

"Quote: Manny Ramirez is seeking a hitting coaching job in MLB." Agent Hector Zapeta said. Ramirez, who hit 555 home runs, and batted .312, last worked as a player coach for the Sydney Blue Sox in Australia in 2020-21. He's so determined to get back in the game, he's willing to go to the minors. Wow, Manram, willing to go to the minors. All right.

So, because this came up earlier, you probably remember. I think most of you know exactly how I feel about the legend that is Man Ram, one of my favorite nicknames, one of my favorite players, one of my favorite athletes ever. Coochie, brilliant, hilarious, and factually, one of the greatest hitters I have ever seen. Hell, his former teammate Jonathan Papelbon, who I also mentioned earlier when speaking with Sean Casey, came on the show last week. And when I say to you that Manny Ramirez is one of the greatest hitters I've ever seen, Jonathan Papelbon said on this show that Manny Ramirez is the greatest right-handed hitter of all time.

He used to come back in the dugout a lot, and if he struck out on one pitch. He'd always say, if that pitcher throws me that pitch again, I'm gonna take him deep. And in the ALDS, K. Rod was on the mound, great closer, and he struck him out the first at bat with a curveball. And then the very end of the game to win it, he takes him deep because he threw that pitch again to him when he made the mistake.

And he used to call his shot all the time. He would say, "I'm going deep." Sure enough, get up to the plate, go deep, and that was the most amazing thing to me. To me, Manny Ramirez is the greatest right-handed hitter of all time. He studied pitchers more than that anybody would ever realize, and the guy's work ethic. Let me tell you about this guy's work ethic.

This guy worked. There we go. That's what I'm talking about. Bam! Right?

Bam! Over the Coke bottles, onto the Mass Avenue. Great.

So let me tell you something. This guy's work ethic was bar none. Nobody worked harder than this guy. Really and truthfully.

Now. He wanted to come across like you know I'm happy-go-lucky. I'm just another one of the idiots in the clubhouse. I just ran into one lucky, right? I just ran into one somehow, someway.

Yeah, yeah. But this guy really studied and he really worked hitters and had a tremendous talent to go along with it. That is so good. That is so good. That was Jonathan Papelbon on the show recently.

So you think when you hear that guy talk about Manny Ramirez that way? You don't think that Manram has something to offer the team? A team is a batting coach. Hell, if I'm the Dodgers, I would stick him in the dugout tonight. The guy is a genius.

If Manram wants a job, you give it to him. No, no, actually, you don't hire Manram. Manram hires you. He tells you what he wants to do, and you let him do it. The greatest thing that could ever happen to Major League Baseball is if Manram was hired not as a hitting coach, but as a manager.

I would not miss an inning, no matter who he managed. Never mind Dodger Jim. If somebody brings in Manram to manage, I am insert team Jim. I don't care who he manages. That's my team.

Bring Manram back. You want more eyeballs? You want more eyeballs on your game, Manford? Then give Manram what he wants. Hell, give him your job, Manford.

You couldn't bring any less energy to the gig yourself, Manford, and Manram couldn't bring any more swag to it. That's what Major League Baseball needs right now. And to not lock out its players and shut the game down, but baseball has been on a major upswing, which is why a work stoppage is going to be the worst thing ever. Even Manram can't save that, but I'm telling you, if you want to ride that wave, ride that momentum, and Manram wants in, bring Manram back. Those who know know, and Jonathan Papelbon obviously knows.

I love that breakdown because when when you look at Manram, he just seemed like the biggest flake, right? If you didn't know. But you can't be a flake, and you can't not care, and you can't not prepare and hit 555 home runs in the big leagues. All right, can I be any more clear about that? There's no way that guy.

He might have done kooky things like disappear into the monster to take a leak. My favorite thing of all: cutting off a throw from another outfielder. That was my favorite thing. At least defensively, but you could not be as gifted as he is, as strong as he was. You could not be that guy and hit five hundred and fifty-five home runs unless you were totally dedicated to the craft.

And he was.

So if that guy wants back in and he wants to be a hitting coach, why would you not let him? Even with whatever quirks, you know what? Never mind. Even with whatever quirks, because of the quirks. I don't want that guy around.

You don't think that guy's got something to share? Manram was awesome, absolutely awesome. At seven one three, redleg on chat. Manram was a serious hitter, one of the best. Idiot savant with the wood.

I mean, savant. I don't think he needs to be an idiot savant. I think it was to Jonathan Papelbon's point. It was an act. It was an act.

He wanted you to think that he was just some idiot, one of the idiots. You know, they were the idiots back then, the Red Sox. But he he wanted everybody. There was an advantage in that, right? Pitchers knew.

You think pitchers didn't know how dangerous this guy was? Pitchers didn't think this guy was some idiot and some guy who just like just showed up at the ballpark and did that. They knew you couldn't hit 555 home runs without being that guy, even with whatever hope you think he had. Rogue news seven eight nine eight. He should be the outfield coach and teach that crazy cutoff move.

I don't know if you had that or not, Lauren. And if you don't, that's fine, because that was before your time. It was one of the funniest things ever: an outfielder cutting off a teammate's throw will never not be hilarious. Christopher Cook, R H two E I, Angel Jim, Angel Jim. The day will come when the Padres lose.

And you'll finally admit they're a second-tier organization, along with the Clippers, the Chargers, and Angels. Sign Chris in Portland from LA. Hey, Chris, the day will come when you learn how to spell. Is it Angel Jim? Is it Dodger Jim?

Is it Padre Jim, or is it Kristen? Graduate the sixth grade, dude. You can't spell lose. I'm not asking for the world here, just basic literacy. Can you not spell the word lose?

And what am I, Angel Jim, Dodger Jim, Padre Jim, Ram Jim, Aaron in Iowa? Almost Dodger time, and Dodger Jim hasn't said anything. Also, not true. You're not gonna drag me down. Your clones are not dragging me down.

You know I don't give a damn. You're just doing this to try to provoke a reaction that you're not gonna get because y'all are just living in chat. You know. You know it's almost time, Aaron. Aaron in Iowa.

It's not almost Dodger time. It's almost end of chat time. Then what will you do? What will you do for the next twenty or so hours without chat? Man, I don't even want to know.

I don't even want to know. Chat is the best thing that ever happened to a lot of you people because it takes you away from doing those things that you should not be doing in the first place. Like chat, you know what chat is? Chat actually is the twenty twenty six version of cough for adults. Cockfighting across America.

It was my way of getting kids off the street and keeping them out of trouble. This is my way of keeping you adult losers, adults off the street and out of trouble. I gave you chat. This is cough. I haven't come up with an acronym yet for it, but I will.

The Chat Across America Foundation. Wait, Chat Across America. It works. It works. Instead of cough, it's cough.

Instead of cough, instead of cockfighting across America Foundation, Chat Across America Foundation, keeping degenerate adults off the street by putting them into jungle chat. Where we make the world a better place for three hours a day, taking you away from whatever degenerate activity that you were involved in, and putting you in a safe place. That's not helping kids. It's hurt. It's not helping adults roam.

Yes, it is. Yes, it is. It's like instead of the boys and girls home, it's the adults home. The adult degenerate home. Chat, you're welcome.

It's so great that the acronym remains the same. It's here's the thing: cough was just a joke to bait that guy. This is actually real. I mean this. Chat is the best thing to happen to so many of you because for three hours a day, it's focused you.

You now are intentional about what you do, sending me horrible takes. But sending me horrible takes is still so much healthier than doing what I know you were doing. Because if you have three hours a day to be in chat to send me your horrible takes, I can only imagine what you were doing with those three hours prior to chat. Point. Ridiculous, I think.
