The question is, are you ready? This is The Drive with Josh Graham on Sports Hub Triad. You are on Tuesday Drive, where roughly three years ago, when the ACC Network first launched, I remember asking on this radio show, who's going to be the ACC's Paul Finebaum? Like, who's going to go to bat for the league on all the national shows the same way our guy B.Dot does repping the Tar Heels, hyping them up every single home game? Because I'd really like to see somebody on television this week spiking the football into the ground after all the shade the ACC's received all throughout the year. From hashtag one bit ACC to the Mountain West, according to the nerds being a superior league to the conference.

Thanks, Ken Palm. Only for the league to get nearly a fourth of the Sweet Sixteen teams this week. If it wasn't clear three years ago, it should be now. The ACC needs a front-facing voice on ESPN who's going to represent them. They need a Finebaum because marketing works. And this is marketing.

Do you ever wonder why? Even today, McDonald's or Subway does so much marketing. So many Subway ads, whether it be Tom Brady or Trevor Lawrence and others, they still do it. Even though we all know about those brands, you'd think they could save the money. Why do you need to do all this marketing? Because they understand marketing works and it shapes public consciousness and public perception. The same is true in sports. Would it help the ACC to get more teams in the field if they had something like this?

Maybe not. Those guys are smart. They're observing numbers. They watch the games. But it could make the college basketball world respect Wake Forest more. Maybe respect them just as much as they respect, say, Texas A&M.

They play each other in the NIT tomorrow night, by the way. And speaking of Wake, I'm not the only person who feels this way. Steve Forbes, who's celebrating his 57th birthday today, he's noticed this. And he said during a press conference yesterday, if every other league has a hype man like this, why not the ACC? I mean, I can tell you that Sean Farnham is carrying the banner for the Pac-10 or Pac-12. I'm so old, it used to be Pac-8, whatever it was. I know that Fran Fiscilla is beating the drum for the Big 12. I know Jimmy Dykes beats it for the SEC, you know, and the Big 10 has their own network.

You know, they've got their own litany of people that are going to speak very high. There's probably somebody, I'm just drawing a blank on the Big 10, but we can't take for granted that we're the ACC and that we're the best league in the country and have the best tradition, the most history, the most national championships, the most NBA players. I can't even go bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, you know. But somebody's got to be beating that drummer, not allowing some of these uninformed people to beat up on us like that. Big 10 example might be Big 10 Scotty, Scott Van Pelt, now that Maryland's in the Big 10. I'm surprised he went Sean Farnham on the Pac-12 rather than Bill Walton. Who's repping a league more than Bill Walton is?

Comfort of champions, it's unbelievable. The ACC doesn't have a fine bomb on its network. Ideally, it would have been Mark Packer, but he's not as forceful as Feinbaum is. And when he does the Sirius XM show, he plays it pretty down the middle, saying that he's neutral rather than going out of his way to represent the ACC.

Also, to be fair, West Durham's also on that show. He can't be that guy because he's a play-by-play guy. You can't be the opinion person and the one that deals with coaches and tries to call the games. Could you imagine Paul Feinbaum trying to do play-by-play for teams and what those production meetings might look like?

That just, it isn't realistic. And also, the ACC network, it's not national. Feinbaum, he's featured on Get Up. He's featured on all these shows.

He's featured on First Take from time to time. Why doesn't the ACC have something like that? Their media partners, Jim Phillips, this should be something that comes up in the league meetings. You know, who's this guy going to be? Probably not Packer.

Can't be West. It's not KJ Smith who can't stop calling Carolina We on air. Jim Phillips needs to talk to the league. Talk to ESPN about this. Hey, this is our media partner, Jimmy Petaro.

What are we going to do? Why can't we get Jay Williams on Get Up talking more about the conference that he's a legend in? Or Seth Greenberg, who was a coach in it?

Those are two great options. How about our guy, Randolph Childress? He's doing more for ESPN. He's calling games. He's a legend in the league. He's really good at this. Those are just a few guys to name.

Those are the three that I look at. If there's anybody else you guys are thinking of, 336-777-1600. I don't think this is going to change things seismically, but I do think it can. If we're talking about the perception problem the ACC's had, not just for basketball, but also with football, having somebody nationally who's on these shows going to bat for the conference, I think could do a really positive thing for them.

I really do. On Twitter, at wsgsports, 336-777-1600 being the phone number. We've got Robert Walsh producing today's show, Nick Dioli in the house as well. Is Luis coming in today, intern Luis? Yeah, he typically gets in a little bit farther because he's got a drive from Elon. I only ask you because my seat, looking into the production room, Luis is usually sitting where I can't see him in that corner.

So I didn't want him to feel left out if I didn't see him there. 336-777-1600. Let's go to Ed in Winston-Salem, who wants in on the tar heels. I've got a pretty big Carolina question I want to ask in just a bit.

Actually, I put it up on social media already. Duke of Carolina could potentially meet in the Final Four. Ed, you're a North Carolina fan. Your level of want to watch a Duke Carolina Final Four game is what?

I personally don't think it'll happen, but it could. Would you want to see it? You have your choice. It's magic. Do you want to see it in the Final Four as a Carolina fan?

Yeah, I'd like to see it, Josh. And you just hit the nail on the head here. The ACC got all this negative publicity during the year. And here we are. We've got three teams. And the men in the Sweet 16. On the women's side, you've got four in there.

And then in the NIT, you've got Virginia and Wake still standing. So I can't understand all the negativity. And I didn't get to listen to your show yesterday.

You were having technical difficulties. And I never heard anything. So when I finish here, could you just briefly go over your opinion on the officiating? I saw what all the other national people had to say. And did you also get to see that call in the Arizona and TCU game?

Yes, I did. I assume you're talking about the travel at the end of the game that wasn't called. Yeah, I mean, officiating, my take on it is I'm not going to be the guy to bang too much on college officiating when they are independent contractors unlike the professional refs who have day jobs during the week and are working four or five games a week and aren't trained as well. These are not full-time employees. So these are the types of things that happen. If the NCAA wants to get serious about college officiating for football and for basketball, make them full-time employees. You've got it. If you're talking about a tournament here that's netting $700 million or something close to it in profit, you could throw some of that, the officials ways to try and fix some of these issues.

But aside from the manic ejection, I didn't have major problems with the officiating. Less than a week after being dumped by Deshaun Watson, the Carolina Panthers have reportedly expressed interest in Baker Mayfield, which I don't think is a bad option, personally. But it's not the most likely thing to happen. The most likely move I think for the Panthers, what they're going to make it quarterback, is drafting Kenny Pickett out of Pittsburgh. That's what I think is going to happen.

It just makes too much sense to me. We know how thirsty David Tepper and Matt Ruhl are for a franchise quarterback. So they are long overdue drafting a quarterback in the first round. Ever since they took Cam Newton number one overall in 2011, they have drafted exactly one quarterback in the draft. Will Greer, third round pick, three years ago. This is Matt Ruhl's third draft. And it's his third year with the top 10 pick.

You don't think he wants to take at least one swing at the quarterback position? No team had a stronger presence at Pittsburgh's pro day yesterday than Carolina. It wasn't just Fitterer and Matt Ruhl and offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo.

No. The quarterback's coach Sean Ryan was there. Pat Stewart was there. Dan Morgan was there. A scout was there.

They had a decent contingent today at Malik Willis' pro day, but I don't think all of them were there. And also, here's another thing that kind of, I think, weighs the scales in Kenny Pickett's favor. David Tepper's a pick guy. I'm not saying that's a huge deal, but that is the guy who owns the team and it could be a good tiebreaker. And if you don't think ownership has a say in these types of decisions when it comes to quarterback and first round draft picks, you might be wrong on that.

You might be naive is a better way to put it. Kenny Pickett, he's the most pro ready quarterback. He's the most polished because he ran a pro style system.

He's older. He played in a better league than Malik Willis did. And those have to be things that are appealing to Matt Ruhl, who understands he has to win a certain amount this year in order to keep his job and to make sure he's still employed in coaching that quarterback at this time a year from now. So I don't think he's going to be as interested in a project and Malik Willis, let's say, than Kenny Pickett. And I don't know if they're going to be interested in giving up draft assets again, just like they did last year and the year before that, well, they didn't give up draft assets for Teddy Bridgewater. They got them out of free agency, but for the second straight year, I don't think they're going to do that, especially if they have to keep Sam Darnold on the roster.

They're not able to move them. So Kenny Pickett to me is the most likely option for Carolina. It makes the most sense to me.

Does it for you? It makes sense, but I also think that you're so close, you're so close to having a good offensive line for the first time in the notable memory. Yeah, we haven't had a chance to talk about this, but Bradley Bozeman, former Raven, is going to be the center or maybe a guard depending on Matt Paradis' health.

And Alston Corbett, we talked about a little bit. Carolina seems to have improved that interior offensive line. Now you just need to figure out what you're doing at tackle. And I don't think, despite thinking there are a lot of projects at left tackle, I would also say you can't take another project on at left tackle. You took Brady Christensen last year, who they really think of more as a guard, even though he was a pretty dominant left tackle in college. I understand wanting to take a swing on quarterback, but that Charles Cross pick could have you solidified for the next three years, four years.

That is very enticing to me. And I don't know what shifts wins this year more. Taking Kenny Pickett, who's going to be in a quarterback battle with Sam Darnold, I don't know if he starts week one.

Assuming they're both good, I think it's Pickett. Assuming they're both good, sure. But if it's marginal, we probably still stick with Darnold the week one, right?

I mean, that's what I would imagine. That would be a tough decision for me to make. It makes keeping Darnold more palatable if you bring in a rookie quarterback, because now you have a guy you know who can start week one and it makes the contract make more sense.

And Kenny Pickett, any rookie quarterback, not going to be that expensive in year one. Have things changed? I saw David Newton earlier today report that the Panthers would not be interested in Baker.

Has anything come out after that? You trust that reporting? Conflicting, conflicting reports.

I've seen it on both sides. It's tough because him and Baker and Sam have identically cap it. We both have 18 million. Where did Scott Fitterer come from? Seattle. When he first took the Panthers job, first thing he says is he's going to be in on every deal. I believe he's at least investigated it.

I buy that. Does that mean they have serious interests? No.

Do I believe they've called and inquired to see what it might be worth? Sure. Because that's what Scott Fitterer was about in Seattle. That's what I believe. He's the man. He's the man.

Hey! You're on the drive with Josh Grab on WSJS Sports. We are about three days away from North Carolina's matchup with UCLA. Duke will be playing on Thursday night.

I just saw video of Hami Jáquez, excuse me, I can get it. A little bit of alliteration there, walking onto the UCLA bus doing so comfortably. There was question whether or not he'd be able to play for UCLA Friday night.

I'd say it's pretty favorable he's gonna be able to go by Friday based on that video we just saw, but we'll continue to keep you posted on that as we move on throughout the week. Right now the Pride of Winston-Salem CL Brown joins us now from the Raleigh News & Observer. Read his stuff, newsobserver.com. You just got done speaking with Hubert and some of the guys over the last hour ahead of their travels to Philadelphia. What stood out to you? Well just how crazy they view the ending of the Baylor game as fans at home and anybody watching the game. I mean you know RJ Davis was talking about still having to process it you know and so was Armando Baker like days, days later you know still just kind of going over the plays in their head and everything. It's funny you know you watch the game as a fan and you know you don't necessarily think the players are thinking what you're thinking in real time you know what I mean, but they basically went through all the emotions that anybody else did watching it too.

That that was that was one for the ages I don't think we'll see something like that again for a while. And RJ Davis had a Tar Heel performance for the ages too dropping 30 in the game. Has there been a noticeable adjustment with the way Hubert has used RJ over the last month or is it simply him just playing better? I think it's I think it's I think it's more him just playing better and the team itself just kind of coming into coming into its own because all season RJ and Caleb have kind of gone back and forth of being the primary ball handler like like this isn't new what RJ is doing in terms of his ball handling and kind of getting into the offense they've done this he's done this in different pockets for sure in the season and a lot of times it's been in the same game where they would just kind of flip-flop just kind of depending on how the flow of the game was going. So you know RJ's play right now for sure having 12 assists and only one turnover against Marquette and then basically carrying the team with 30 points against Baylor and helping to win that game in overtime you know he's he's definitely hit a groove but I think you can look at the team overall it's kind of being you know they've hit a different stratosphere at this point in the season that we definitely couldn't say they were on you know even a month and a half ago in January or whatever because you look at how they're sharing the ball 51 assists out of 62 made baskets in these two games and it's in the tournament that that's an absurd kind of percentage like you're like can they can they continue to do this like after they did it against Marquette to start I forgot what the actual numbers were but you know I think it was 29 assists on 34 made that that's right you know you figured that would just be a one-off and then they basically do the same thing again against Baylor and and you know there's there's something to the way that you know they're just they they found their groove everybody's on the same page which is part of reason why you were gone with the starters for so many minutes you know playing them big minutes and in most of these games but you know they don't want it to end on Friday that's for sure yeah I want to hammer in on Hubert's approach a little bit CL Brown joining us here from the Raleigh News and Observer on Twitter at CL Brown hoops news observer calm I'd love to know what's impressed you the most about what Hubert's done this year because one thing I look at now slightly in hindsight and results driven granted but still impressive nonetheless is he had to have heard even though he says he's not on Twitter all the blowback about the minutes he was not giving Don Tres or DiMarco done and what he wasn't doing with the rotation early on and he still felt the way he was doing it was the right way and despite styles not getting a ton of minutes during this stretch run he has played more without Garcia or Anthony Harris but still not a ton of minutes he came through when it mattered most with that three at the start of overtime it's impressed me that Hubert's had a plan and he hasn't let the outside influence that plan at all what's impressed you well I would say never underestimate the bubble that that a head coach can be in like I I don't necessarily think he's heard some of the outside stuff until a reporter or somebody says something to him about it but I think the thing that I feel like Hubert has done the best over the course of this season is he's not he's not stubborn like he hasn't just stuck with one idea and this is going to be it and we're going to see if it works he's he's adjusted as the season go off again has gone on and you can look at the Duke game for instance where well the first Duke game to the second game where you know he starts off having a cut on bank Carol you know clearly that didn't work and even instead of trying to start out leaky black on bank Carol in game the second game he didn't do that he said you know what we're gonna man up play straight up and you know manic ends up with the with the assignment of bank Carol CEO Brown CEO Browns with us here one last thing on the way out started interrupt you there on Twitter at CEO Brown hoops I've asked this question today because there's a chance we could get it and I don't even think many thought there was a possibility it could happen but let's at least talk about it for the fun of it Duke Carolina finish the sentence for me Duke Carolina meets in the final for a meeting in the final four would be blank it would be too much you're right but it would be fun I mean I I want to see them play again this is kind of like in 2019 where where I wanted to see them play again you know especially since Zion only played in the one game in the ACC tournament and that was that was a high-level great game that Duke ends up winning by one so I'd love to see the rubber match of these two teams which the only disappointing thing is it wouldn't come in the championship game it'd have to be in the in the semifinals so that would kind of be that would kind of take a little off of it but but it'd be great yeah it'd be like it will be remembered the same way the US Olympic hockey team is remembered in 80 it'd be like yeah you remember who you beat in the semifinal because it was the Russians but you still had to take care of business against Finland after that assuming that the team that wins the final four will win the national championship CL it's good to hear from you good to always have you on around in your old stomping grounds and travel safely to Philadelphia my friend all right no doubt that's CL Brown on Twitter at CL Brown hoops news observer calm who Robert Walsh finished the Senate's Duke Carolina meeting in the final four would be blank yeah I'd probably say that it would be like blank I don't think I would be able to say it on the radio Nick Duke Carolina meeting in the final four would be blank awesome you would enjoy that yeah I'll say I'll say why because I think most of your voters are Duke and Carolina fans who do not want to play each other but if you grew up outside of the rivalry you want to see that in the final four so I think that's why a lot of people are voting your poll that they want it yeah the week is giving a thumbs up at that let me give you a about 90 seconds here to talk about the lady pack see I get the email sometimes these aren't the ones that dictate the show but some say hey why aren't you talking as much about women's basketball well how about we give some time to the ladies you are an NC State fan you're still auditioning to be the unofficial mascot of the pack and NC State's on to the sweet 16 as one of the favorites to get to the final four a set I'm being held here against my well with this audition it's never gonna end but here we go okay we're gonna start a new trend on Twitter called dominate in advance because that's what these the lady pack is doing we're on to the sweet 16 I was watching the game at my local why and every time Perez hit a fadeaway shot that looks so awesome I did extra rep on my shoulders so my shoulders are very sore today I think it's still so dumb how we are in the Bridgeport region and not Greensboro it's just another reason why I don't know the NCAA has something against NC State they have something against our University I don't know why we're just America's school we're America's team we're gonna keep that mentality so let's kick Notre Dame's butt and on to the Elite Eight clip it NC State gonna play at I think 11 a.m. on Saturday I need the advice professional this is the drive with Josh Graham on WSJS sports we've got show-and-tell that we're gonna do in just a second the telling part gonna be emphasized the most since this is an audio format but it went well last time when Robert brought in some type of spear sword like weapon probably from Incan times I don't know more Aztec or Incan Robert it was Japanese but they were around also when the Incans were around so maybe still around that timeline it was just looked very deadly before that quick word from our friends at Krosnore for more than a hundred years Krosnore communities for children has provided a Christian sanctuary of hope and healing for children in need in North Carolina they have the miracle Heights adventures that we've been telling you about well suited to work with groups if you have a camp classroom community group or team miracle height adventures will be an experience that your group remembers for weeks to come visit their website at Krosnore org slash MHA for more information it almost feels like we are in kindergarten all over again the only thing missing is like Rugrats music or something in the background here I would love a nap time and we could squeeze a nap time in do you still nap much Sarah Bradford never naps I nap every weekend that I get Saturday or Sunday I'm finding time to at least nap even if it's just 30 minutes I nap uh my naps typically happen like right after dinner so I'll like eat be full talk to people and then all of a sudden it's like I'm on the couch and I'm out for like 15 20 minutes so my naps typically happen before I go to bed which probably isn't the best thing for my sleep schedule but I get fat and happy and don't know what to do about it we're taking away from our sharing time I'm sorry I even asked that question let's get this thing going though I will start oh what you got here's what I brought in it is a stuffed otter yeah his name is Brooks did you name him or did they name him no no no we named Brooks because Brooks Keppa no no no no not because of Brooks Keppa there's a story I'm about to tell you what the story is when I got engaged to Sarah Bradford I proposed to her at a place called Brook Green Gardens in Myrtle Beach and I felt this is me being a dumbass I thought that I would get a ring too right after we got engaged she said no no no you get your wedding ring after we get married and I said wait a minute you get this expensive ring and I get nothing out of this equation bingo so we walked up to the souvenir shop and we got Brooks so she got an expensive ring and I got a stuffed otter well something that was probably not intentional with it but is sweet nonetheless is otters actually mate for life oh take that and do with that information at what you will I think otters are cute I love otters they also hold hands when they sleep so they don't drift apart ready for this feature Robert you can hold the hand that was smart yeah so this is Brooks it's bring your otter to work day I brought Brooks in very nice I'm actually a big stuffed animal guy like if you see a cool one if you go to a zoo and you like it get the daggum animal now you guys gonna sit in a corner of your room it's gonna get played with by your cats but get the animal it's worth it intern Luis is in studio with us intern Luis you have something in a bag here I have two things they better be good okay the first one is it's not that cool but it's my grad cap and gown that I got really excited about graduation so I just wanted to bring in for show-and-tell underrated part about graduated get Elon you get robes that look like you're in Gryffindor oh that is cool we also get oak saplings to go along with the acorns that we got in like I guess our inauguration too are you gonna plant those somewhere or no no this is a soccer jersey what I know this is a Bacardi shirt I got from the headquarters of Bacardi in Puerto Rico back in 2018 I was about to say did I always do that I was 18 years old when I got this but in Puerto Rico the legal age is 18 yeah I'm sure your parents love that story you do have cool parents Robert Walsh I'm gonna save you for last Nick Dioli what did you bring in today for show-and-tell uh I brought in my autograph for another autograph I need to switch it up next time I do pretty cool though do you have a ton of autographed memorabilia at your house I do yeah these are cool I if you could continue to one-up yourself if one time you bring in something that has a Randy Jackson pretty recognizable signature because he will sign anything right I'll have him sign a telescope or something I'm of course talking about the picture Randy Jackson oh true okay okay what do you got all right so football it is a football is it a Wilson football it is yes I walked right into that I knew he was gonna do that sorry about that Joe Montana and Dwight Clark on this football my dad I think won it right and he's white Clark yeah I know very sad I think he won it in a silent auction like 20 30 years ago and he gave it to me and I don't know are you guys are you guys the type of people to sell your memorabilia cuz I'm not I won't hold on to it and pass it on no I got some Ric Flair autograph stuff that I promise you as soon as he kicks the bucket straight to eBay yeah my dad probably has a ton of stuff I cuz he was friends with macho man and like legit friends so there are probably things my dad has that we sold it off it'd be worth a lot yeah you mean like a nice little chunk of change on it that's cool though cuz I I'm not the type to sell things I'm usually terrible with like signatures like he and Nick showed it to me it was like check this out and I just saw a JM and I was like oh it's got to be Joe Montana is it yeah really really that's Joe Montana so very recognizable signature without even the pun like it looks like Joe Montana that's the key to having a good signature it's got to be very quick and if you have distinguishable letters just make sure you get those JM in there that JM in there so people know it's by Joe Montana it'd be so cool if it just said Joe cool that we really I think then they would be like wait is that is it the camel like is it who signed this thing my dad has a signed basketball from David Robinson back when he played at Navy but nobody believes it's his signature because at that time he wasn't signing a lot of autographs and he wrote out in block letters it looks like a kid's soccer shoes years later that signature looks a lot different than David Robinson I swear with him gotcha okay Robert are we overselling and under delivering no I and I promise you as long as we do this I will try to bring cool stuff in here but I feel like at some point it's going to be like this is my deformed twin who I keep in the basement like I'm gonna have to have something extravagant but at some point you're gonna bring in the actual metallic Ark of the Covenant nobody looked directly into the light of this you have like a metallic Yeti in your bathroom that we have not seen but you've told the story about many times so as long as you haven't exhausted that I I think you're pretty true to your word that you have some stuff plus I feel like you just asked this unusual oh he brought the metallic Bigfoot in here in the Bigfoot's hands how did I not see that I looked around your office this morning and I didn't see it in there I always try to sneak him in man I don't want you guys to just like get the tip off of what my show and tell is Brooks is scared he should be he should be I feel like Bigfoot's would eat otters but so I am infatuated with unique things believable and and the you are a mountain somewhere kind of near Montgomery County around all that stuff is the you are a mountains and they kind of focus on this myth that Bigfoot he lives in these mountains so if you go to a Montgomery County farmers market or like a fair you will see these large Bigfoot statues all over the place and as soon as I saw that I was like yep I'm gonna need one of those found out how much it costs I was like ah I don't think I'm gonna get the big big one so I saved up I got this dude he's supposed to sit in your garden or like kind of be like a scarecrow but he just hangs out in my house I usually have like a Rey Mysterio mask on him he's kind of decked out like he's in a Fred house but yeah I misrepresented you though I it's the sword that you have in the bathroom not the metallic yeah Bigfoot the Bigfoot he's kind of looks like he's peeking around a corner so I have him positioned where if you're sitting in the bathroom and you don't close the door it looks like Bigfoot is uh doing a little peeping Tom how many times has Cheyenne been terrified oh my gosh when I first got him I would place him all over the house like I remember one day taking everything out of the fridge I've done that with Brooks too and it would scare it like hiding him so I hit him in this in the fridge she got scared I hit him under the sink once she got scared I hit him in the shower and now she I have always been the kind of person who when I go into a shower I'm going to or I go into the bathroom I'm going to move the shower curtain because I'm terrified someone's behind it shiny Lee every time still the day every single time Cheyenne was not like that until I did this with the Bigfoot statue so she blames me that every time she goes into a bathroom now she has to pull back the curtain you need to get one of those see-through showers man I and my guest bathroom that's what I have if you're a guest at my house and you want a shower I should be able to watch through a blurry misty shower curtain that's been show-and-tell for this week good luck continuing to try and top what you bring in Robert Walsh drive with Josh Graham on wsjs sports tomorrow morning 10 a.m. I'll be a guest on Sports Channel 8 the streaming show on Twitter did you guys get your Twitter handle back a sperm are yeah baby at Sports Channel 8 the original that's right at Sports Channel 8 you can watch that on Twitter you can watch it on YouTube as well and I strongly encourage you to do so I'm gonna be playing the game show with them as you could tell Hayes perm are he's on with us as a guest on our show this is kind of like a home-and-home which I appreciate Hayes before we get into ACC cheerleader and front-facing media figures that might be able to represent the league well what type of topics are you mulling over for me to look at tomorrow morning for the game show well first first of all Josh Graham it's always an honor to be on with you and Robert you know based on the way like if you want to continue out that home-and-home metaphor the way contracts are written the fact that you've gotten I don't know like 55 home games and we've only gotten one we seem to lend itself to you big the much bigger entity you're like Alabama and we're Jacksonville State but or the time when Alabama went to Duke remember that yeah yeah but the reverse is actually true obviously we're much cooler and more prominent than you yeah and so I can't say that we've given a thought to what the question for Josh Graham will be nor will we until about 955 will we come up with our game plan for the Josh Graham show it was Steve Forbes on the show we'd have ACC history questions we'd have coaching legends all kinds of stuff we would prep for the coach but but for you buddy sorry yes this is a fun I told everybody don't worry about it guys it's Josh Graham he'll be entertaining enough we don't need to plan anything it'll be fun yeah you're probably right about that I probably could just carry the show and probably break ratings records on it just by myself tomorrow morning Hayes perm are with us here and you said hey could you um could you like say something provocative about Kentucky while you're on with us and getting eliminated we'd love to get the ratings bump of all the mad Kentucky fans coming in to watch you so I'll do that but I won't say anything negative about Virginia even if they lose tonight my fiance will not allow for that okay all right so you you tweeted out that you're gonna be volunteering to be Steve Forbes is ACC cheerleader he's pushing for this you know hey just a front-facing face I agree with it I said this three years ago that the ACC if you're gonna have your own network who's gonna be your fine bomb is it gonna be Mark Packer I don't know it's gonna be it can't be Wes because he's doing play-by-play who you got I literally asked John Skipper that question when he was the president of ESPN I proposed the Monty Jones although I know money doesn't want the job and has bigger things of that what's kind of interesting is like that's kind of it's the it's the blessing and the curse of being the ACC right like I love Western the mayor of the ACC and I'm sure when it comes down to certain things he's like on the business side or he's you know got the research that gives you the rosy stats for the ACC but like he doesn't see it as his job to carry water you know and the ACC especially specifically in North Carolina where you're kind of kept in check by the fact that if you're in any part of North Carolina you could have you know multiple fan bases making up a large part of your audience whereas it's easy in SEC country to say you know what let's just play to Alabama and start from there you know it just it doesn't quite work that way in the ACC nor would you know I again I'm kind of being pretentious here but I think it is a slightly more sophisticated level of fandom where it's like we don't really want pandering now we'll we'll pump our chest out and be like are you are you serious you have five bits for the ACC but I I'll say this to Josh Graham there are really I did some scouting for you there are radio stations in the triangle that are claiming that Steve Forbes listens to their show in this time slot because of the fact that he was bemoaning that people were tweeting like one bit ACC right they thought that was a sign that he's listening to their show and I made it clear that no no no no that he listens to the home show in the triad but apparently the thing that he needs it I know he listens to your show regularly yeah he needs to follow the sports channel 8 if anything good sports channel 8 we are ACC homers we beat the drum for the league we will make fun of ourselves and we'll make fun of ourselves for stuff like football right but we we tell it like it is and we are the roots of sports coverage I invite Steve Forbes to come on and listen to sports channel 8 or our followers on Twitter and there's plenty pros you see material that he could be retweeting I'm gonna help you guys make that happen I will help you guys get Steve Forbes in any way I can come on that show because I think that would just be really entertaining stuff so tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. I'll be on with Hayes Permar and company will play skips or plays in a second but I am interested I someone actually brought up a really good point earlier I think it was Martin Greensboro who called in and said that you know the ACC had their hype man it was Dick Vitale and is it a coincidence we're thinking about this in the one year that Dickie V because of health reasons couldn't be at games and couldn't be speaking even like his voice was such that doctors told him he couldn't be talking like that was the ultimate hype guy that the ACC had and another concern I had the other concern I had Permar was someone suggested someone like JJ Reddick which had me thinking well in both his case and Jay Williams case yes they would be fantastic mouthpieces for the league but I don't think ESPN is a place where they prioritize college basketball enough to give them the time of day when Dukes playing Gonzaga and all ESPN cares to do is to get their draft analyst on during the broadcast to say what these players are going to be a year later now I'm with you on that I disagree if I tell was ever or could be the the ACC mouthpiece he's the college basketball mouthpiece and because the ACC has always been the dominant force and Duke you would see a bit but I mean if you read his old books he you know he was the mouthpiece for Indiana in the 80s and obviously Duke in the 90s but even like Arizona under loot Olson and he's not from here he's a Detroit guy now he's a Florida guy like I'll throw some names at you Jay Williams is one I thought of Seth Greenberg Randolph Childress is doing the word ESPN maybe children's doesn't want to be a good basketball in us and that's what he is Jay Williams wants to be who's the the defensive end Michael Strahan Jay Williams wants to be Michael Strahan he's not it's beneath him to be a cheerleader you got to get something that's going to be in it for the long haul like I mean Jordan Cornett to Notre Dame guys so he can't do it I mean I don't know I you know maybe they just need to give Sports Channel 8 a show on on the ACC network and we'll take care of business not a bad idea I asked this question on social media today do you want Duke Carolina and the final four yeah I think I understand a lot of people that would say like hide your eye for a lot of people this is what I don't understand about you because you claim to be neither a Carolina nor Duke fan I'll let others decide what that case may be but I can see where if you're a Carolina or a Duke fan the prospect of losing that game makes it feel like it's not worth playing right yeah but even in that case like that that's the only like real answer of why you wouldn't want to see it happen if the prospect of losing that game is not worth but what you can see would be the benefit of winning can I give you an argument can I give you an argument why I say no to that ultimately you're a weenie if you're a Duke Carolina fan and that's truly what you settle on I can understand having those feelings but you're a weenie and if you're not a Duke or Carolina fan of course you want to see it this is the pinnacle of sport the only job that's happened and in case final year of course you do and you should be fired from the job and banished from ever talking about sports again if you say otherwise now make your argument if it happened this year something this historic that's never happened before you know and I know all it's going to be about is coach K again it's gonna be about a revenge game and does it erase the Cameron loss and I think this type of history deserves more than that I think great pile it all on I want Roy Williams to be sitting on the bench with Hubert Davis when they do it I want I want the ghost of Dean Smith and a hologram like a Jedi also on the bench I want somehow the ESPN cameras to pick it up pile it all on there make you know have Gerald Henderson you know like grimacing and people from the sidelines like you might fight them like no do it uh-huh it's the peak of sports it's what you know it's it's what you want if you want every year in the NBA Finals if it's an awesome Lakers team versus office self-esteem great you want this to happen and because it's never happened it's only better than it happens in a year with this much more hype because okay Hayes Permar with us from sports channel 8 now let's get to the main course of this segment skips or plays with Hayes Hayes Permar is somewhat of a Renaissance man an expert in the finer things but he hangs his hat on music loves his God and he's no friend of Satan he was like oh six in busy with the sticks been watching big Mike a little trick trip I just need a Zion and someone he can dunk on today Hayes will decide if this music is smash or trash blows or blows it's time for skips or plays with Hayes Hayes one of my favorite things about you one is every time you come in here you don't just thank Josh you thank me you don't have to do that but I do appreciate you acknowledging that I'm here the other thing is I know that I can throw any kind of music at you and you will have an opinion you will have the ability to tell me whether if it is a skip or is they play and today I have a proverbial cornucopia of music talents for you to judge really quickly isn't it roughing McNeil the guy that always did that every single time he joined the show hey DG thanks Hayes yeah he usually mentioned me but I'd like to think that was much like Robert you know I used to have intimate conversations with Ruffin so like he had no choice but to acknowledge the fact that I was there sounds right one of my favorite things that Josh does is just completely interrupts my interlude and knocks me off the rails but it's okay we're back on today our skips or plays is based off the tickets we have available to give away this week I've got some Willie Nelson outlaw tour tickets I've got some Rob Zombie Rob Zombie how could you forget that right now especially after a week where we had corn and we've got Slipknot coming up to we've got Alan Jackson Rob Zombie and also at the end of the week we're gonna give away some tickets to go see Britt Floyd which is a Pink Floyd cover band they're gonna be at the Tanger Center so today I've got for you Rob Zombie I've got for you some Pink Floyd and I've got for you some Willie Nelson we're gonna interrupt you one more time we got Willie Nelson tickets we're giving away later this hour by all means and we're not gonna start with Willie we're gonna start with Rob Zombie I appreciate him as a director I can slightly appreciate him as a musician but to be completely honest with you this is the only Rob Zombie song that I know were any of you curious as to what a Dragula actually is oh wow I don't think I could have named a Rob Zombie song I don't think I know any like you you gave me that great intro he knows everything except Rob Zombie this has to be over 20 years old this is from 1998 so the 24 years old 25 years old okay well okay apparently a Dragula I was under the assumption like this is a listen we do this in music all the time we make up a word we come up with something for our own purposes he's just coming up with something that sounds cool like Dracula but apparently it is a style of muscle car that is made out of a coffin or a hearse to run like a muscle car so very guys very very Rob Zombie grungy I don't want to know your opinion about a Dracula and if you drive one I just need to know if that song was a skip or a play all right well you know I was going with skip but I'm almost converting to play just because of the Dracula car but I'm gonna stay with my first instinct to skip it hey Permore said it was a skipper I mean that's a great song just to make fun of you know maybe if Alan Jackson did it I could I could swallow it Alan Jackson doing Alice in Chains what's the next one we got all right next up you got Willie Nelson here and I think that one of the best things about Willie is and I always highlight this with country music stars I like is they take you to places that like if you close your eyes are very tangible you can see what they're describing and I think too much for my opinion the song that highlights Willie's ability to do that the best is Whiskey River I don't know what y'all some grandparents listen to and used to ride around the back of their truck this was it this is like the soundtrack to my grandpa hauling hay around I love this song Hayes would be this would be such a great move if you skipped it after Robert just say it's shared such a personal story a little bit Willie's an obvious play I got to see him on the outlaw tour up close last year with Sturgill Simpson some other folks it was excellent it's amazing that he's still rocking it 90 something whatever he is but makes you feel like whatever you know like you know like everybody talks about Tom Brady and how he like stays healthy and he's still going Tom Brady's 45 all right let's see how good the TV 12 workout plan is it 90 something I'm on the Willie Nelson nutrition plan baby whatever he's doing is working for him I don't know if he's known for anything in particular and vitamins I don't know what he does but I would definitely like to find out because that's the plan that I want to be on Willie Nelson playing concerts in my 90s Willie Nelson is exactly oh I forgot the imaging here Willie Nelson is exactly twice Tom Brady's age he's 88 will turn 89 next month Willie Nelson thought he was 90 but yeah it's okay you didn't kill him off like Rex Chapman did Pete Gillen he is the country music Popeye he loves the spinach man he loves this I hope before he retires he'll hand me that playbook and I can see what is what is it what could it be that Willie consumes so much of that keeps him so young and fresh well no no last up here we've got for the cover band of Pink Floyd that we're gonna have tickets away for Friday I pulled wish you were here by Pink Floyd this is the best Pink Floyd song it's I know it's the predictable thing to say it's close I don't know comfortably numb that's the other one your choice but I don't know about you guys but every time I hear comfortably numb I think of the sex scene and the departed every single time not where I go I kind of picture somebody in a bathtub and a pool of sadness but I don't know why and maybe you guys can explain to me why I feel like this I always wanted a Lynyrd Skynyrd cover of wish you were here this just feels so Southern Rock to me and yeah I definitely feel that's a good call it feels like a good country song or like you know the Grateful Dead could do it or somebody now you're right it's a that's a play with like Pink Floyd is one of those we're like I feel like everybody should admit that they're good but like they're still slightly overrated somehow I don't like they're there everyone should know they're good but they are just a little bit overrated that's kind of how I feel about them they're the Kentucky they're the Kentucky basketball of like classic rock bands I think yeah you know they're good but there's somehow still overrated I think that's a take I might say tomorrow to you know try to boost things up on the Sports Channel 8 show tomorrow that's right let's do it that's been skips or plays are we gonna get a manic Monday song if North Carolina's in the final four at this time next week they've got it they've got to make it to another Monday before I don't think manic Monday worthy if it's like Monday morning and you would see plays in the title game that night whoa that's the only time it's worth it so they don't have to just win their next two they gotta win their next three for perm are what I feel that way yeah yeah wow it's high standard you have it's got to be a Monday it's the only Monday game they have left and then it has to be on a Monday Josh is like who cares about all that man I just need a song I can play on my show Hayes crank the music out dance don't have any curse words in it that I might miss or Roberts gonna throw his headphones across the room and smack my microphone I'll tell you one thing if we play one more cuss word on this show I probably will quit the show I will never come back on this show again love it hey sperm are I'll talk to you tomorrow morning buddy all right see you guys that's a sperm are joining us here on Twitter at the HP IV you can shoot them to follow there
