This is the Truth Network. Welcome to the Christian Car Guy radio show.
I say this calls for action and now. Hands on driving today. Hands on now, actually, driving on the Christian Car Guy show. I'm afraid I confused Bill with that statement, but I like that because, you know, if you're wondering where is all that coming from, well, there's a plan God has, I think, for all of us to help us learn when we don't understand something. And, you know, with all the buzz these days on, you know, hands-free driving, there's a lot to be said for the word now.
That present time only, you know, it's like now, and if you get, you know, suckered into too much hands-free driving, you don't end up in present, you let your mind wander, and the next thing you know, you can be in big time trouble. Well, you know, that's what happened to Moses, actually. And in Moses, in chapter 6 of Exodus, we have this phenomenal, phenomenal chapter that talks about freedom. And coming into this particular season, right, we're headed into Passover's next week, which also lines up with Palm Sunday, and then the following week is Easter. And so all this is going on, and next week, next Saturday, I have a Passover Seder that we're doing at our church, and I love that. And so I've been studying Exodus 6, which has to do with the Passover, because it was that time of year that Jesus was, you know, going to have the Last Supper, which is a Seder meal, because it lines up perfectly with Passover, because God was going to show us through how he set the Israelites free from Pharaoh, how he would set us free from the ultimate enemy, that being Satan.
And he did that with his hands, right? And I don't know if you ever thought about this, but I'm going to read Exodus 6, 1, and think about it in terms of Jesus, is what he did to give us freedom on the cross. So here in Exodus 6, 1, God tells us this. Then the Lord said to Moses, Now, right, he puts him in present time, so he gets both his hands on the wheel.
Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh, for with a strong hand he will let them go, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land. And interestingly, if you look closely, there are two hands there. So you've got both hands, and I don't know if you've ever pictured this, but time and again, God says in the book of Exodus, he's going to save him with an outstretched arm and a strong hand, or a mighty hand. And so if you picture Jesus on the cross, they are outstretched arms, and here's this hand. And these same hands that he saved the Israelites with, now in complete humility, right, he allows a Roman soldier to pierce his hand with a nail. And in that picture, he is setting us all free, right, as he would die and he would shed his blood for us, as he came back through the resurrection and defeated death. It was through that humility of his hands, God's humble hands, that he would set us all free.
So when you think of mighty, you know, it's kind of like what happened in all these different ten plagues that happened in Egypt. He was being extremely humble. In other words, he was being completely merciful.
At the same time, he was being, you know, vicious towards Israel's enemies. Now, if they'd done what they asked, in other words, how many times did he give a pharaoh ten different chances to say, let my people go? He wouldn't do it, right? And so at some point in time, you have to do it now. There's only so many times that you get this shot at this deal, right? Ten times, he gave him a chance. Now, how many of us, you know, if we had the power that God had and Pharaoh says, no, well, buddy, it's my way or the highway, you're out of there. But he gave him ten different times that he had to do that and that they went through all these ten different plagues. And so as you think about that in your own life, right, how many times have you, you know, like when it comes to the things that, to begin with, to be free from being a sinner, it requires the original saying, Jesus, I need your hand.
You've got to be humble enough to say, I can't do this on my own. I need that blood in order to be cleansed from and have a chance at this freedom that we're talking about, freedom from sin but also freedom from unforgiveness or freedom from hatred or freedom from addiction. There's lots of things that we need freedom from. And not only do you get the initial freedom that you get at your salvation experience, but often many of you experience another type of freedom. And so that's what I'm wanting the people to call in and share today. When did you experience that kind of freedom at his hands where he was both merciful to you but at the same point in time he was ferocious towards your enemies, enemies, the enemy of addiction, the 866 or the enemy of hate or the enemy of lust, 866-348-788-4866, the number to call in and share your freedom, right, when you had hands-on driving, in other words where Jesus' hands were on the wheel and he took you where you needed to go, 866-348-7884, 866-348-7884.
So, Bill, am I making progress? Yes, sir. And so, you know, when you think about what God is doing here, it's not unlike the picture he paints throughout the Scriptures. So in the Psalms, right, in Psalms 1835 it says your right hand upholds me and your gentleness makes me great, right? So he's showing that right hand being, you know, that idea of mercy and hessid and all those wonderful things and then he's talking about strength at the same time. In Psalm 89 and 13 he says your mighty arm and your strong hand, you know, high your righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne, steadfastness and love and faithfulness go before you.
In other words, he's talking about two hands there again and he's going to talk about the hands. And of course in the prophets Isaiah would say in 53, 1, and who believed our report and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? In other words, there comes this intimacy of the arm again and the arm of the Lord. Now the one that just kind of blew my mind as I was studying this and thinking about it is Jesus in John 13, 3, and we're going to talk about actually here he is at the Lord's Supper, right? And here he is at the Passover week and it says Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, right? He'd just given all things into his hands, rose from supper, laid aside his own garments and began to wash the disciples' feet. You see the picture of here's these unbelievable hands that he has all things have been given into Jesus' hands is what the Scripture says. But then he lays aside his garments and he begins to wash the disciples' feet in a picture of what? Showing us how we could be like him because he would certainly have all things in his hands as he goes to the cross but then lay them down on the cross, right? And you get that as he would actually say his last words are Father into your hands, right? Into your hands, Father I commit my spirit. And so it's kind of a neat thing when we really picture the hands of God as taking our wheel but getting back to that concept of in present time, now, right now. Because what happened yesterday is yesterday. You know yesterday I overate or yesterday I got mad at somebody I didn't get mad at but right now where am I and how can I ask God to come in and save me because it's not something that I'm going to be able to save myself from. It doesn't work that way. We need God's help in so many different ways and you've experienced that, Bill.
I have. I was thinking that when I started my career insurance that a lot of promises were made and a lot of managers disappeared and surprisingly when a manager disappears the promises they make go with them. And I got married and the financial turmoil hit. I lost the huge account and ended up having to pay taxes on the money and then give it back. So I went into my marriage thinking that everything was going to be rosy and actually didn't make any money.
I was paying it back for the first year. So we're going to hear more on this story and we need yours when we come back. The number to call and share 866-348-7884.
Call us. Hands on driving now today on the Christian Car Guys show. In other words, being in present time is now and we need to be paying attention to our life as far as where are we walking in freedom, where are we walking with Christ and in his hands, and where have we chosen to get out of that situation and take things on ourself to try to control our own path, our own take the wheels experience, whatever that may look like. And by the way, that's from the movie Abraham Lincoln. If you haven't seen it, it's spectacular there at the beginning where he says now, now, now. It's an amazing picture of how we were abolished from slavery here in the United States back through a whole lot of bloodshed as was described in that clip.
And then it's J.J. Keller's song, Your Hands, which is just really spectacular to me. And as it says in the scriptures, nothing's going to rip us out of Jesus' hands. He's pretty powerful stuff. But when we left our hero, Bill, he had gotten over his head. Easy to do if you're in business by yourself.
Too easy to do. So you had been driving and now, now, now, it looked like you're in the weeds. Well, I woke up angry. I went to bed angry.
I had lunch angry. And one day a fellow was talking to me and he said, you know, we quit reading the Lord's Prayer before we're supposed to. I said, well, what do you mean? He says, well, it was a letter.
Do you ever stop reading a letter in the middle of the letter? I said, well, I guess not. But what's your point? He says, right after the Lord's Prayer, right after Jesus teaches us how to talk to God, he says, for if you. I said, what do you mean? He says, it's not the number four.
It's because I ran out of gas for I forgot to fill the tank. I couldn't fill my tank for I left my money on the dresser that Jesus said after he gave us the Lord's Prayer, that I gave you this for if you forgive others when they purposely maliciously set out to do you bodily harm, not when they accidentally unintentionally do something to you. It says, if you forgive others when they sin against you, then your father will forgive you.
Well, that brings up an interesting question. If you don't forgive others, is God going to forgive you? As somebody else had said to me, what type of sin is forgiven? Every time I asked that question in the jail, almost everybody says, all sin.
I said, well, I don't think so. If all sin were forgiven, Satan's going to join us in heaven. It's all repentant sin is forgiven, but all sin is forgivable. Point being that I've got to forgive others to be repentant. If I hold that anger against that other person, I haven't repented.
It sort of ticked me off. I had spent a lot of time and energy through my life being really angry and upset at different people in different situations. When I quit being upset, when I went back and I looked at all the notes I'd kept on all the promises that hadn't been kept. I really wasn't upset at the managers because the managers got fired or moved on. It wasn't their fault that the promises weren't kept, but I was just mad that all these promises had not been kept. When I tore the journal up and said, it's not doing me any good, it's doing me harm.
I'm burning up and losing all this energy that I'm putting in the wrong direction. In a remarkably short period of life, time, my life changed for the better. I saw opportunities that were there, but I had not seen them before. They were opportunities that I had the energy to go help people and do things. In my life, when I was able to reach up and grab hold of God's hands and let loose of the anger that I'd been carrying around with me, I felt just the most wonderful release, and I felt this closeness to God that I hadn't felt up until that point. Darrell Bock Yeah, it's a beautiful thing. I'm thinking that you might have a story where you were able to let Jesus take the wheel, so to speak, with his hands on driving.
Nail-scarred hands on driving, by the way. We would love to hear your story. 866-348-7884.
866-348-7884. And for those of us who, at times, and I'll be the first to admit, struggle with road rage, right? Somebody does something really crazy, and there you are. And are you going to continue to take the wheel, or maybe the accelerator pedal, or maybe the brake pedal, or maybe the horn? You know, take your pick of how you tend to express your road rage.
Or as Bill just described, right? Here's your opportunity right here to say, gee, am I going to make this right? Am I going to teach this other person how to drive through my behavior? Darrell Bock That always works, Will.
Darrell Bock Or I'm going to let Jesus take the wheel and forgive him, and just let it go. And the quicker you do it, obviously, the saner it will help you be. But I wonder about your story, and I would love to hear it, because it's just hopeful for everybody else that hears it.
866-348-7884. You know, for me, if you'd known me three years ago, four years ago, I weighed about 100 pounds more than I weigh today. And it was a matter of I was going to, you know, control my diet and exercise program, right? And I'd been, you know, trying to wheel my way into eating right, and wheel my way into exercising right, and I, right? And really difficult stuff.
For a lot of folks, I know it's not an uncommon struggle. But it's an interesting thing to me, often, when we really pray, when we really ask God to come into something, when we really do surrender, whatever that looks like, to say, hey, you know, I can't do this. I need those promises that are in Exodus 6. If you look in Exodus 6, it says, I will take you out, you know. I will rescue you. I will redeem you. I will take you to be my people.
In other words, these are very, very strong I will statements, and there's actually seven of them in Exodus 6. And so what he did, when I turned that over, I will go into more of that in my story, but he gave me something better than what I was doing, and I have so enjoyed the freedom of losing weight and getting back to a more healthy lifestyle. But you may have a story, 866, I hope you do, 866-348-7884. We'll be right back.
You're listening to the Truth Network and truthnetwork.com. Fate of human dignity in our hands. Blood's been spilled to afford us this moment now, now, now. When my world is shaking, heaven stands.
When my heart is breaking, I never leave your hands. Hands on driving now today on the Christian Car Guy Show. You know, it's amazing how things happen in present time, what happened yesterday and tomorrow, and all those things can mess you up, especially when you're driving. If you let your mind wander, oh my goodness, then all of a sudden that car stops dead in front of you. Especially if you got your hands off and you're thinking the car's driving itself, I don't know. It's an experience, but with our lives, right?
Hands on driving using his hands, right? And so we want to mention that at the last segment of today's show, we have another episode of Christian Car Guy Theater, which recently we've been doing famous fairy tales, which is an alt, you know, absolutely a star that we have that helps us with Christian Car Guy Theater. And wait till you hear, this is Beauty and the Beast, what happened behind the scenes of Beauty and the Beast. You may never have known before if you get to hear this episode today. We'll get into that in the last segment, but as we were talking at the end of the segment, we would, of course, love for you to call us with your story of hands on driving where it was Jesus' hands, 866 that he took the wheel, so to speak, 866-348-7884, 866-34-TRUTH. And I was talking about how I weighed, oh, you know, about a hundred pounds more than I do today. And I had struggled with so many different ideas, but at some point in time, you really just say, God, take the wheel, help me, show me, what do I need to do, what's different? And he just all of a sudden started bringing people in my life to show me just a better way, because, you know, you're not only going to do something if you really enjoy it, you're only going to eat something different if you really get excited about whatever that might be, right?
And so as it was that year, I was going to the National Religious Broadcasters Convention as always, and they bring me a lot of people to interview. Well, God brought me, I bet I interviewed that year, I bet I've interviewed four different nutritionists. But the one nutritionist that radically changed the way I eat had written a book on the seven foods of the Promised Land out of Deuteronomy, I believe it's eight, where it talks about that these seven foods are essentially dates and figs and pomegranates and wheat and barley and oil. I don't think I got them all there, but anyway, and I began to, and my wife began to say, well, what happens if we just begin to cook with these foods? And we actually went on a 90-day fast, ended up being longer than that, where, you know, it was sort of like a Daniel's fast on steroids, where we tried our best to eat, no, in fact, we didn't eat any milk or any dairy or any of that, we fasted from that, and the main part of our diets were those foods that God said were good, and they were, you know, seven foods of the Promised Land. And I got a wonderful seven foods of the Promised Land breakfast.
And so we bought wheat berries, in other words, everything that it said, we got it absolutely whole grain and we got it, and oh, man, did we look forward to those meals. And we began to see all sorts of miraculous results, like what I considered miraculous, you know, I came off of one of my high, my blood pressure medicines, came off of one of my diabetic medicines, Tammy began to sleep right again, all sorts of things happened as a result of just, but not only did we have the health benefits, but the thing was that we just looked forward to what we were going to eat, right? And that was just half the equation, because interestingly, at the same time, I got invited to Nikita's man camp, and we began to do some different exercises, mostly just walking, okay? Just going for walks, actually walks with God. And spending an hour or so a day walking with God made a humongous difference in lots of things in my life, not just the fact that I got the exercise, but it gave my mind a time to actually just hang out with God in the middle of the day, where I wasn't stressing and all those things. And again, what I had been doing under my own strength and whatever, he brought people into my life to help guide me. And the next thing I know, not only was I free from the bondage of the old lifestyle that I had, but man, I was really looking forward, and I still do, by the way, every single day. Like this morning, I will tell you, I ate my Seven Foods of the Promised Land breakfast.
I'll tell you about it real quick since I got a minute, and nobody's calling at 866-348-7884. So I take wheat berries, just absolutely natural wheat berries, which are the grain that comes right off the stem, and I take barley berries and I take rye berries. And I take about a handful of each, and I put it in boiling water, and I boil it for about four or five hours, sometimes three hours.
Depends on how long I got, but the longer the better. And it makes the most wonderful cereal kind of like, I don't know, it's better than anything I've ever eaten. It's because the berries are bigger than like cream of wheat or something. You know, you got a great big thing they treat, and it's whole wheat, and it's tremendously good for you, apparently. You know, people say you don't need any carbs. Well, this stuff's got lots of them, and I'm telling you, it doesn't raise my blood sugar. In fact, it helps regulate my blood sugar, and it's amazing.
But again, it's whole stuff, and it's that. And then I get pomegranates, and I love, you know, I don't know if you like pomegranates, I love them, and I, you know, put about a quarter of a pomegranate in all their reels, the little berries that are in the pomegranate, and then I put, I take up a fig, a couple of figs usually, and chop those up and put it in, and I take a date, and I put a couple, that's after it's cooked. I put the berries and stuff in it. But while I'm cooking it, actually, I put a, I don't know if you ever noticed this, but if you'll put a thin layer of olive oil, just really thin layer of olive oil on the water while you're boiling some type of cereal or whatever, it won't foam up and boil over, because somehow or another the oil just absorbs it. But it's kind of cool, because I was wanting the oil in the cereal anyway, and by putting that little thin layer on it, you know, the next thing I know, I had, you know, all seven foods of the promised land in one breakfast, and I probably eat that four or five times a week, Bill, and it's amazing. And I've served it at boot camp and stuff like that, people will go, wow, Robbie, this is really good.
It takes a little to get all the supplies together, but when you do, it's amazing. So how about you? What have you done in your hands-free driving now?
866-348-7884, 866-348-7884. Bill, what you thinking? I was thinking of a few instances when I started scuba diving, where I was in extremely stressful situations, and had to just totally turn it over to God to get out of them. And I'm a lot smarter with the dive buddies I picked out, so it didn't happen quite as often. Well, we'd love to hear one dive story, you know, and for those who don't know, Bill goes scuba diving at least two or three times a year, don't you?
At least. We'd gotten in a really nice, beautiful area, but the visibility wasn't really great. You couldn't see the boat from way down where we were diving. And was this in the Bahamas?
This was in the Bahamas. And if I'm totally in charge of navigating, I'm great. But if I'm out navigating and then my buddy's taking pictures and stops and goes all over the place to take pictures, then you've just lost. It's sort of like if you close your eyes and you're walking through the house in the dark, as long as you're totally in charge of where you're going, you're probably fine. But if they just drop you down in a room somewhere with your eyes masked, you're lost. So, yeah, I had this dive buddy that just kept going off on his own. And on this one, we were real deep and you couldn't see the top. And really, you can go deep enough in the water. You can't see that.
Yeah. A lot of times, I mean, the visibility, the visibility can be one hundred and thirty feet or the visibility. So you don't know which way is up? Well, up is easy. You just look at your bubbles. But which direction to go?
And which south east? I'm glad to hear that. Back to the back to the back. There's some scuba diving where you don't have. I don't like to get in situations where you can't see at least a little bit of light somewhere.
So there's some wreck dives and cave dives where it does what you're talking about. But I try to steer clear of those. But in any event, we were trying to head back. We were a long way off, a lot farther than we should have been. And we just got to a point where you just I had to figure out how to come up and take a look and then come back down to 70 feet.
And that was just a little tough with somebody that just wasn't the least bit interested in following any of the rules. But God got me through that without being too worried. One time we went down and there's a German sub off the North Carolina coast. We got down and I'd asked my buddy if he was all right before we jumped in. And he says, yeah, then we get down about 70 feet. And he just went crazy. And I grabbed his vest and I shook him and said, are you OK?
And he nodded. Then he bolted for the ceiling again and grabbed him. Well, we popped out of the water. It's like popped four feet out of the water. But it should have killed us. But luckily, we had not been down quite long enough for that to have caused all the problems it normally would.
Oh, you can't get the bends, that kind of thing. That's what you're talking about. Well, I know you've got a story. We would love to hear it. We got Christian Car Guy Theater come up coming up in the next segment.
866-348-7884. We'd love to hear it. Stay tuned. Hands-on driving today on The Christian Car Guy Show. And I don't know if you've ever experienced that, where all of a sudden you were trying to steer your way out of trouble and you just let go of the steering wheel and all of a sudden Jesus took it. And things got to a place you never dreamed possible. That happens all the time.
And it's amazing when it happens. Again, you might have time to get in your story. We got a Christian Car Guy Theater episode coming up in a second. But I want to just point out that The Christian Car Guy Show has the Jesus Labor Love, which is car repair labor for single moms, widows and families in crisis. And one of the hardest things it is to do is to just ask for help. You know, be humble enough to say, I can't do this. But every single week, you know, we have single moms, widows, families in crisis that contact us through ChristianCarGuy.com.
They fill out the application. And then we have an opportunity to pray with them. But we often get a chance to see how when they let go of the wheel and all of a sudden God took over what seemed like an insurmountable situation. I mean, we've had people that were homeless living out of their cars and watched God, you know, work through all sorts of situations to where they ended up with another car, another thing. All these things happened.
It's absolutely beautiful. Well, got to play this episode of Christian Car Guy Theater, which is Beauty and the Beast. And then we got Robert in Virginia.
Hopefully, we can get it all in. So let's go ahead and play that Nick Beauty and the Beast with Ann Alt. Yes, it's another episode of Famous Fairy Tales, the radio program where you learn the rest of the stories from your childhood. Well, it's been quite a while since we interviewed a famous fairy tale character, but I had a letter actually, a rolled up scroll from a lady by the name of Beauty. I'm not sure if it's a stage name or something. Oh, it's my name.
All right. And my profession. Oh, hello. Are you the person who wrote me?
Yes, indeed. I've been listening to your radio broadcast. And I thought it was time you heard my story. I'm sure we would all love to hear it. Well, you remember that I was stranded in a castle with the ugliest looking character you ever saw.
Yes, I do. You must have been terrified. Oh, I was at first. The hairy dude didn't even talk to me for a week or so. But then then you fell in love with him.
Nah. And then I did come to realize that the poor guy had been insecure about his look for years. Hence the name Beast. That's a nickname.
Junior high kids can be so cruel. His real name is Cedric Bob diesel. So what did you do? Well, beauty is my middle name, right? Actually, it's my first name. But anyway, and you help Cedric, I think you'd he'd be willing to let me go if if I gave him a makeover. That was kind of you considering the circumstances.
Oh, well, the Bible does say in Ephesians 432, be kind to one another tender hearted forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. That's right. Well, it took some persuading. But he finally cut off that scruffy beard. Good for him. And I brewed up a batch of patented herbal face cream.
Did that help? It sure did. And he let you go?
Well, sort of. He made me promise to let him invest in my face cream business. Beauty's famous elixir. And your cream turned him into a handsome prince?
Well, no, there's only so much a face cream can do. But in the story, look, forget that old story. What changed Cedric's ugly frown to a sunny smile was accepting Jesus. And he did? Oh, yes. He learned that he didn't have to be mad at the world anymore. So that's the real story of Beauty and the Beast?
It's truly inspiring. Say, your face looks a little dry. Here, try a sample of my face cream. As you've just heard, listeners, the words happily ever after are much more complicated than you might think. Tune in again soon to Famous Fairy Tales Radio Program, where you learn the rest of the stories from your childhood. So speaking of story, we have Robert is in Richmond, Virginia. Robert, you're on a Christian Car Guy show. We'd love to hear your story. Hey, good morning, gentlemen. I appreciate you very much. I want to encourage people to always keep your hands on the wheel. Yeah, I was a college scholarship athlete in two sports.
I played everything it was. I raced motorcycles for 35 years, race cars, race jet skis, downhill ski race. I am a rescue scuba diver.
Talking to gentlemen there. Been through a lot of experiences. But during this, I broke my back and my neck and I was laying in the bed looking at the ceiling saying, all right, Lord, all my athletic stuff is gone.
What do you want me to do? He came to me in a dream and he says, you're going to get up and walk tomorrow. And I had a walker and got it.
My wife got the walker and I started one step at a time. So I recovered and walked again. And I went back to work. And I was a very successful businessman.
I've been all over the world. But the thing about it is, remember, Christ wants to hear everything we're thinking. And what Christ wants to do is to have faith. And faith, my faith can heal you.
He doesn't always do that. But he gave me to be able to walk again, and use my arms again for when I broke my neck. And I've been a faithful deacon and I preach and all that in churches here and there and just encourage people that it's never over, that Christ is in charge.
But you have to discover that deeper faith and trust and lean back on Christ. I just wanted to say that this morning. Darrell Bock Absolutely beautiful, Robert. I'm so glad you did. I'm so glad that he came for you in that experience.
But then also that you glorified him with it, right? Through your weakness, he was made strong. Robert Hagstrom Hey, you know, when you lean on the Lord, you've got it all. You've got all the money in the world.
You've got all the talents of the world. God just gives you that righteousness and he gives you that healing. And he chooses to heal sometimes, sometimes he doesn't. But if he doesn't, like now, I'm 66 years old. And from all those spinal injuries, I am now disabled. And I can only walk like 40 feet. But guess what I do? Each morning I get on my walk to my street, I can still ride a motorcycle.
And I get off of it. And I pray and I just say, Thank you, Lord, you know, and then I help in the homeless missions and food, food missions and all. You can always do something for Christ, you know, and for others. Don't be like, be like the Good Samaritan. Don't walk away from people who need help. Be prepared each day.
It doesn't matter what we did yesterday. Be prepared today for what Christ has. Somebody is going to cross your path that our job is to witness to them. That's so awesome. Robert, thank you for calling it a day. I hate we're out of time, but God bless you. God bless you.
And of course, thank you, Bill and Ann Alt for her wonderful rendition of Beauty from Beauty and the Beast. And remember, two hands on the wheel now. Stay in the present time and slow down. Jesus walked everywhere he went and got it all done in 33 years. Thank you for listening to The Christian Car Guy Show.
