So what does the tribe of Dan, and Daniel, the Hebrew Letter Tav and the last verse in Psalms 119, and the end of the story all have in common? - Come wonder with me.

Did you ever wonder? Did you ever wonder?

I do. Did you ever wonder? Why the sun always rises but the stars never fall?

Why dry land is never satisfied by water? And why fire never says enough? Today we're wondering about the end of the story and that's a play on words in a lot of ways but you might have expected me to be speaking on 1st Corinthians 13 again and no doubt I've been working on that but interestingly, and I will get back to that probably tomorrow, but interestingly God had me on sort of another lesson plan today as I was looking at the word Dan. And you may wonder what does that have to do with the end of the story? Well, I think you may, like me, get to learn a lot of stuff today. So the letter Tav is the last letter in the Hebrew alphabet and if you look at it closely you'll notice that it's made up of two other letters which are specifically a Dalet and a Nun and interestingly those are the most humble of letters which is according to 1st Corinthians 13.

That one thing I was studying was, you know, it does not boast, you know, it is not proud, that kind of thing as far as what love is. But interestingly the word Dan as the tribe of Dan was made up of those two letters because you know Rachel said after her handmaid Billa had a son that the letter had judged her and so she named his name Dan and that again that is made up of those two letters the same as the letter Tav and it's no coincidence at all that the tribe of Dan would be the last to head out, you know, when they traveled in the desert and the idea of that if you look in Numbers chapter 10 you're going to see in every English translation I can find they say that, you know, that Dan is the reward but in the Hebrew translation or you look at any way that Jews look at that particular verse they say that Dan collected and they certainly teach that Dan in his own way kind of judged as they went back over the same area that everybody else had been to make sure that nobody left anything behind because the idea of that Dalet and Nun is to collect or to, you know, bring back together so you know it's really really it's fascinating to me and the thing that just jumped out to me immediately as I was thinking about this whole idea the letter Tav which is the end of the story and it is God's stamp on things and it kind of means the truth because at the end of the story we will know the truth, right? But the word judge in this there are several words for judge in Hebrew and this is one that seems more to be pleading the case of, you know, like the Lord is at his our, you know, at the Father's right hand and he's pleading our case in that way he's judging for us and you'll find this word, you know, is scattered throughout the Bible in places where you'll see the two different letters for judge the two different words for judge and this one definitely is related to the idea of pleading the case and is very much related to the idea of gathering which is what, you know, my word of the year was to gather in great faith and so I became very interested in this very quickly is like how exactly does this work out that at the end of the story, right? We're all going to be gathered and we're all going to be judged and hopefully you have the one named Jesus that's pleading your cause and the ultimate Dan so to speak but I think it's amazing again we talked about yesterday that love starts for that letter Dalet and so does the word Dan oh by the way Daniel the name Daniel is God is my judge but it is God is my judge that is like the one that pleads for me and and it's fascinating isn't it that Daniel because you can hear the L in the end of Daniel is actually a good in there that said this that you're just saying my so you're saying Dan which you know is is judge and then mine is God and and how much did Daniel live that particular life and and when you think about what he did and then he certainly spoke about the end of the story right that there's his prophecies or are absolutely amazing you know giving us the end of the story which is again whether you know the God is going to be our Dan is going to be collector he is going to be the person coming at the end of the story to make sure that all the people get right in the right fold that where they belong and so you know how does that exactly play out in our lives right that that how are we judging and and this is a different kind of judging then you know determining what is good like we've talked about before the word judge here this particular idea is the end of the story type of gourd of judging like how can we plead right how can we be this collector how can we be this gatherer and again think about the last verse in the top section of the 119th psalm which i think is spectacular it says we like lost sheep have gone astray seek thy servant right for i believe uh oh excuse me for i have not forgotten my commandments and so isn't that cool that that letter tov this whole idea of being collected you know king david is giving this the decoder idea of this is we like lost sheep have gone astray lord seek us you know that that idea of gathering us together is right there in the last verse of the 119th psalm which is obviously the eighth verse of the tov section which would be the miracle verse and what a miracle it is that jesus is that one standing at the right hand of god and he's completely doing that but how fun that when you know somebody is lost right you you see that that they are one of those lost sheep whatever that may look like in their situation you know we too can begin to plead the cause and to help gather ask god how we can be used in the situation but i know one way we can be used in the situation is clearly just to pray for them right and so you know the question is who is god put on your heart to dan out on to to be the the tov so to speak the end of the story to plead their cause i love how um isn't it neat that rachel jumped in there and said that god had pleaded her case and so that she could have this son named dan and it says even in the jacob's prophecy about dan that he would judge his people in other words dan is always out there and he is pleading the case for the jews even to this day both in the case of daniel and of course of the tribe of dan and and you know it's interesting when you look in that numbers 10 25 passage where it talks about the the tribe of dan heading out under their standard and the jews would go on to describe how they collected for them but it says that dan is the reward well how cool is that i like the word reward and and that particular word that usually means gather that is translated i don't know why in all the english versions as reward but to gather is a reward and that's kind of like where i'm going this year with my word of the year that wow to be gathered in great faith is not just a matter of of me getting into the fold but obviously god i i want everybody you know even my enemies you know to enjoy to be worshipped by you to see the real you and and and my enemies i would love to see the real them right because when we when god brings us into our true anointing oh my goodness what is that what is that going to be like so how beautiful is that i i i definitely wonder about the end of the story and i certainly want to be one of those who can dan who is the dalit nun which you know the letter nun means faith and so it's like service of faith like it and that and so if you have faith in someone that's grace right and and and you know that's what we do when we are standing there pleading their cause when we're praying for them um you know we get a chance to do that thank you so much for listening and wondering me about wondering with me about the end of the story i do
