Yes, right now. For right now anyway in my life. On Mondays and Tuesday mornings I get to take my six-year-old granddaughter to school. She's in the first grade and it will go down something like this. It's so much fun as we head out the door. The first thing I'm going to say to her is Lila you're not going to terrorize those cats are you and of course the cats are waiting to be fed so she immediately starts chasing the cats around and then after we feed the cats she'll look out and I'll say Lila do you want to take grandma's van or do you want to take grandpa's truck and you know what she's going to say every single time. Papa I want to shift it shift it. I want to take your truck. You see we've done this thing for years like to the Madagascar song and said you know you got to move it move it well she does this I've got to shift it shift it because you know when she rides in grandpa's truck I have a straight driver a manual transmission and I allow her to pull it back from you know first into second I let her pull it back from third into fourth and that's a huge thing if you're a six-year-old girl on the way and then as we get in the truck as we sit down I get her in her car seat and she gets all latched in and if you know about old red it's a 95 1995 dodge dakota single cab so it's just me and her in this little bit area and she's getting all excited and as soon as she gets start going out the driveway she's going to say this every single time she says the same thing papa we're going to be there in a jiffy apparently she likes the way jiffy feels in her mouth and she loves to say we're going to be there in a jiffy and I go yeah Lila we're going to be there in a jiffy and then of course we're going to shift it shift it but then my favorite part of the whole ride we won't get halfway down the street and I will start singing she'll be coming around the mountain when she comes and she no one knows the enthusiasm my granddaughter has when we sing this song we add a lot of emphasis especially do you know when you're gonna kill the old red rooster we're gonna kill and she gets all this enthusiasm and she gets all this excitement and by the time we get to school we have had like the time of our lives so just for fun this morning I was thinking when you were a kid and you were heading out on that trip it may have been a long trip it may have been a short trip but what was the song what was the song that you love to sing yes that one that just popped in your mind the one that man you just knew it was coming and you were so excited because you got to sing it we want you to call in and share your song your memory this morning what song bottom of the hour but the other thing that I think that even perhaps I am absolutely convinced that God is right there in that truck he's pouring out that enthusiasm into Lila and my spirits I can just feel it and it's so cool to ponder that maybe like me I thought about this over the last couple days when did God take me just me and God on a truck ride like that and he poured something like that into my spirit I've got a memory like that I'll share during the show I would love to hear yours when you think about when God just took you out like grandpa in the truck eight six six three four get a Kindle it's free and then very cool all of George McDonald's books because apparently they're public domain because they were so long ago written all of those sermons all those books are absolutely free at Kindle George McDonald and one of my favorite books he wrote was unwritten sermons and in his opening chapters unwritten sermons he goes on and on about the faith of a child even mentions how he believes that the child that Jesus brought to him in Matthew 18 was Peter's child and I can't help but think that C.S. Lewis and Tolkien who absolutely adore George McDonald no doubt got their inspiration for the chronicles of Narnia and the lord of the rings from that childlike spirit that they got from George McDonald so we're going to spend some time in Matthew 18 as we come into our appraisal by the real black book coming up at the end of the show this is the Christian Car Guy show bringing the kingdom to dover on our golden wedding day well there you go it must be a really really old song i've you know i've never heard it out of the context of my mother and father so but it's a it's a precious memory though right oh oh yeah we had such fun except the time my mother and father put us out on the road to utica oh there's a story there grandma and grandpa put you my amazing mother out on the road to utica and grandpa put you my amazing mother out on the side of the road yes well my my sister and i were fighting in the back seat and we were warned many times if you don't stop that we're gonna leave you by the side of the road so they did how did they get out of sight before they came back and got you yeah they got out of sight they went around the next turn and waited for us and they and we didn't show up so they got scared and they turned around and we were headed back home we weren't going to you now i hope you hear about lots of good songs i am excited about the songs they're got lines open eight six six three four eight seven eight eight four but getting onto these springtime maintenance musts you know my good friend jerry with ray's body shop is always telling us that when springtime comes you got all that salt and you got all that stuff all over your car sort of inside and out and so it's a great thing that this is a time to go to one of those car washes that allows you to kind of spray up underneath to get that stuff off the car and get the salt off and then there's nothing like you know just applying a regular old hand wax like a mcguire's or you know turtle wax or something that you know to protect that finish again because a lot of that stuff was taken off by the chemicals the harsh chemicals that are used to keep the ice off the roads and so yeah there's a spring cleaning that's that's involved and another really cool thing to do if you're like me and you got a older car it's really really important that you keep the door hinges greased a really easy thing to do there's a product called lithium grease you can find it at any parts store auto zone or whatever and it's just a little spray can like stuff and it's called lithium grease it's different than wd-40 stuff like that is is good for certain kinds of lubrication but when it comes to door jam hinges and and and you know the stops that are in the door jam there's nothing like some lithium grease that will stay put and so you can find cans of that in your auto parts store and you know go into those hinges because again the salt and all that stuff is working on those hinges and it's it's it's a good time to remind you to go back and do some of that stuff but we have kathy in north carolina also we have the songs coming out of north carolina we got one out of illinois but you have a song i sing in the car all the time because i'm a music teacher at a preschool and they love my song and we sing it at the end of our music class time every day every week so it is very simple i sing it in spanish too really but it's um god is so good well let's hear it in spanish because i don't think i've ever heard it in spanish okay wow and then he answers prayer right after that if i'm not oh it's very simple and it's only got a few notes and and anybody can sing it but god is just so good to us and so i i have to ask your your music teacher in a public school or in a christian school and a um christian preschool um i guess i can name on the air sure please yes i put a plug in for uh green pine preschool weekday preschool in nightdale and there they're going to have a very wonderful music teacher share that song and then the thing i love about your story kathy is that you're singing that song in the car you and god alone just feeling like you know i know the feeling and had my two little kids at the to raise by myself so this was the song that i um that kind of relates to that that's what i went through so it's called where could i go but to the lord so here it is living below in this old sinful world i feel a comfort and a foe striving alone to face temptation storm tell me where could i go but to the lord where could i go where could i go seeking a refuge for my soul needing a friend to help me in the end tell me where could i go but to the lord wow you can really sing and so there you were with your two children how are they now they're good they're fine and i bet that that's a precious memory for them i i know my mom singing in the car with me or my parent you know my grandparents all those it it takes us to a place that's in our heart that just feels like heaven right yeah and this is a when i i used to play on my an old ukulele that uh handed down to me from my father i had a bunch of songs i played on the ukulele this was just one of them uncle uh from wilkes county used to come down and he taught me the song i don't remember when or how but he uh he would sing peter cottontail here comes peter cottontail in piglet all right i'm looking forward to this but anyway it's um you're hey i'm kater pay i can hear okay i'll play on me and they'll say it's yeah yeah he's there's on his way away but i have to stop and think that part i can do just you know in my in my sleep and that uncle is he had the childlike spirit am i right yeah yeah he was a fun guy that is classic i would have to go back and listen to the tape of that several times and see if i can accommodate that that's that is the kind of stuff that just makes my heart come alive i think we're gonna have to turn that into a promo that's fantastic okay thank you check your a lot of folks are running low on windshield washer solvent obviously coolant is a big concern and of course oil and transmission fluid those kind of things if you have not been using your air conditioning in the defrost mode a good time to do a pressure test on that your battery terminals in a load test and of course the tires always check the pressure and take a look to see if you're still in alignment or you see some cupping that might indicate that they're out of balance the belts and hoses and the windshield wiper blades are always a biggie for the spring because a lot of folks you know the eye starts tearing them up and you want to be able to see you want to be able to see that's kind of critical to being able to get down the road we have angela is in burlington she's got a song for us angela you're on a christian car guys show good morning good morning uh i was blessed to be brought up in a home where good books literature and good music were just a part of my growing up and so my grandmother lives 128 miles from burlington that's where i'm from and uh so uh that can that can seem like a very very long trip when you're five six years old you're right and so my dad would play a game he would sing the first line of the song and i would have to uh sing the next line and then by the end we wound up singing the whole song together and the one uh that has meant the most to me was in the garden and that every time i've seen that it just brings that very special memories of my dad and what a what an amazing man that he would have that song as as one of his favorites he taught me about opera he taught me about broadway i mean i grew up in the 50s so that was when you didn't have to be concerned about what language your child might hear you know right and uh he was just a very very special me and then uh uh he passed away in 2000 and i just really missed him and that song just brings back a lot of special memories yeah and um yeah i think for for all of us angela you're taking us a little bit closer to the throne as we think about your dad singing that song and now he's in the garden itself yes and enjoying that at a level that's that's unbelievable but praise god for fathers like that that took the time and had that child like heart to um enjoy those things and to spend time with you i appreciate your call so much that that just touches me god bless you thank you okay i've got just one quick thing left over from last week if i may real quick please uh you know you had last week about the things that said that said god god knows me he was winking well yeah okay it was uh september 28 2013 the lord has just been dealing with me and doing a lot of really great new things in my life and our next door neighbor was in the hospital so i've been checking on her mail and i just happened to look up and there was a heart-shaped cloud now i've seen lots of clouds that reminded me of things but this one was actually in the shape of a heart and uh i had just been seeing creation with new eyes and that and uh that trial just is the creator of the universe he knows where you are he knows what you need and he loves you that and uh is awesome and he was winking at you angela yes he was and uh and it i mean i've not seen one like that but it was just for that special moment that is i am so glad you shared that because that's a great segue to what i was going to talk about next now that we have thought about the songs that you were singing with those people that you enjoyed life with how about thinking about for me with this next segment when were you on a trip like that with god you were with him in the truck and he sang a song into your heart and you could feel him having fun that childlike spirit all that's
