Hidden Treasures of the 119th Psalm So we are going on a treasure hunt. And the gold we are seeking in this treasure hunt is actually the face of God.
Pure light. So join us taking this deep dive mining with King David in the 119th Psalm. On today's Hidden Treasures, it's really about hidden treasure. As we reach the 8th verse, in the bet section of the 119th Psalm, as we talked about in the opening, clear back in episode 1, that the 8 is a significant number. And that for 7 days, we do the very best we can. And the 8th day, God kind of pushes us over the finish line.
He kind of holds us up so that we can make a dunk shot. And once again, King David finishes with what appears to be his most difficult task, which has to do with the statutes, which are those Hazak, the high hard laws that he struggled with even in the situation with Uzzah when he touched the ark and God killed him. So here we're going to finish the finish line or go across the finish line with this verse. And I'm going to say the verse the way that I actually say it when I'm reciting it, rather than the way that it's translated in the King James Version, because I think it makes the point that we're going to get to at the end.
When you see it has the same words in it, but they're put in a little bit different order. So the way I say that is I will delight in your statutes and your word, I will never forget. So that is to say, it's really a beautiful thing when you look inside that word statutes is this idea of hidden holiness. And so, as we're talking about hidden treasures, you got to dig for this God spark that's inside this clip, the sort of a shell that is around it in the in the letter cuff.
And so, in order to get rid of that shell it usually takes oil and we're going to get a lot into that in the letter Dalit but in this case he is delighting in other words he's apparently found some of this hidden treasure. He clearly has seen the God spark in the statutes, and now he is absolutely delighted and he's so delighted and and I'll never forget this once I understood it when he says your word I will never forget number one he's using the word to bar. And so that's the word we've talked about throughout that is clearly Jesus and so when you think about like if you go to Disney World it's going to be a trip you never forget or when you your baby your first child was born, you know how that would be something that you would never forget well here King David is making this explanation and I'm sure well I hope that at some point in time you have had a discovery in God's word that you will never forget. Well that's what King David is saying here is Lord, you have given me this you push me over the finish line and building my house, and in building my house, not only did I do your word but I have it in me in such a way that it has made such an impression that I will never forget it. So I would challenge you today, like what is there in God's word in the way that you build your house in your heart. As we are finishing up this bet section that kind of takes you over the finish line and go okay. Now is that understanding, maybe the insights of grace or maybe it's understanding the insights of the empty tomb or the stone that was rolled away there's so many amazing things that are in God's word that are somewhat hidden but when you see them you're just never going to forget them. Right. So, when you see them you're obviously going to delight as King David is here in this eighth verses he takes us across the finish line and says, right, he says, I will delight in your statutes and your word, I will never forget. And I'm never going to forget this particular verse, because it is so delightful in so many ways, and I pray that you have experienced that with me.
