Did you ever wonder? Did you ever wonder?

I do. Did you ever wonder? Why the sun always rises, but the stars never fall?

Why dry land is never satisfied by water? And why fire never says enough? So today on Bible Wonders, I want to wonder about the word wonder, which should make for a wonderful podcast. And I mean wonder-full. The first thing I would point out about the neat word, wonderful word wonder, in the Bible, especially in the Old Testament, is wonder spelled Peh Lamed Aleph, is actually the word aleph spelled backwards. And you may know that we've talked about the aleph many times on the show. And the aleph is the first letter. It's number one in the Hebrew language. So the interesting thing is that you know that in Hebrew, all the letters have numbers.

And so they add up to things. And so when you add up the letters in the word aleph, obviously it's going to be exactly the same number if you add up the letters in the word Peh Lamed Aleph, which means wonder. So the first place that you find Peh Lamed Aleph in the Bible is in Genesis 18, 14. And the way it's translated is anything too hard for God. When he's talking to Abraham about having children at the age of 100, he's fixed to say that Sarah's going to have a baby. But the way it's said, the way that God said it to Abraham actually starts out with that Peh Lamed.

And so is wonderful for Yahweh anything. In other words, God is in charge of wonders. And again, when you break down that word wonder, the beginning letter is this Peh, which looks like a face, and it was meant to be, because it literally means presence. And so when it says Adam and Eve went out of God's presence, see how many Pehs are in that particular verse, and you'll see what I'm talking about. It has all to do with being in the presence of God.

And obviously it's the letter that starts the word presence. And so when you think about that, facing God, and then the next letter is a Lamed, meaning to learn or to love. So you got God, and then you have this idea of learning and loving, and then the Aleph, which is again Peh Lamed spelled backwards. So that Aleph is number one. It is the idea of a God that wants to, through the Bible, reach out and touch mankind. And so it's a Yud, and a Vav between them, and the hand of man reaching up with another Yud to touch the hand of God. Well, as you go about wondering today, and anything that you find wonderful, maybe it's the weather with the beautiful trees budding all over the place, which has everything to do with Easter and rebirth, and all that's going on this time of year, it's a fun time to wonder. But as you wonder, it's really fun for me to think that Aleph, the first letter of Father Abba, the first letter of Adonai, which means God, that Aleph, number one, spelled backwards, is to wonder. Do you ever wonder? I do. I do.
