I say this calls for action and now. How fun. This is gonna be such a fun show. kind of broken up just thinking about it is you know, one of my favorite things in all the world.

People that know me know I love to pray. As the Christian car guy can tell you. It's where your faith comes alive. Like this is where the rubber mates the road, so to speak. Where you get traction in life, you know, I can throw those two car things out there immediately.

And so, along those ideas, Is the difficult Reality. That we all have a lot of questions about prayer. I mean, it's a hard subject. How do you do it? You know, how do you know it's real?

How do you get there? You know, does it make any difference? And so, again, those might be questions you have, but I really would love to know the. What's on your heart when it comes to prayer? What is your question?

We are so blessed today to have with us. Emily Curtis with Hope in the Morning, and she's delving into that on one episode coming up actually next Saturday. Like, how do you know you're there? And the reason that uh uh you know, God's timing. Is Justin Gambino just and loyal listeners would know we've had him on several times? He just released his latest EP, which is Extended Play. There are six songs called Garden of the Lord.

And if you start at the beginning of these songs, by the time you get to the one that you just heard, you're ready. It really helped me get infected. Broke into tears this morning on my way to the station as I was just seeing how. the invitation God has for us to get there, but.

So, your questions, you know, what's on your heart when it comes to this whole idea. And so, Emily, welcome to the Christian Carcott Show. Happy to be here. I don't know that you've ever done this with you. I don't think I've done this one with you.

Uh-uh. We've done many others, but not this one. Actually, sometimes I co-host your show, and we've done Truth Talk Live and a lot of things together, but I've never. But this really. I'm sure For any Christian is the place where You know, that they're actually meeting with God.

Yeah.

Well, I mean, with the Christian car guy, it's like, it's like the engine to your Christian life, right? It's like it's what revs you up, it's what keeps you going. And in this life, that's our communion with God. That is literally what. What drives us through our Christian life is our ability to pray to Him, but within praying, trusting Him.

And that can be a challenge. I mean, you and I were talking about that yesterday. It can be a challenge to trust him with those prayers, especially when life is crumbling around us. Right, and therein lies, you know, w what you normally hear on the radio is happy, Robbie, right? You hear my laugh or and and what about those times When it's not like that, like Uh you know, when I was in the hospital recently, Uh My wife You know, I had no idea.

You know, was she critically injured? You know, all those things. Because I you know, she was they were still getting out of the car. when I was when I was being removed, but You know, Emily, you've had those times recently where. You felt like, really?

Is this real? Is any of it just... You know, what does it mean? Yeah, I think it's interesting because I think oftentimes, as believers, when things go well in our life, at least for me, And, you know, none of us want to admit this, but I think when things are going well, you tend to pray less. Like, there seems to be almost like we feel like we've got it all together and we don't need it as much, which is not true.

You know, we need that. It's literally our breath. Like, as a believer, that should be our breath. But when things go awry, man, that's the first thing we do: hit our knees and say, Lord. Please show up in this moment.

Or sometimes, sometimes you say, Why, God? Why are you allowing this? And there's so many nuances within our theology that are related to the way we view prayer. And when we go through suffering, it puts it to the test. You know, I mean, like you and I were talking yesterday, it can be really challenging sometimes when you've prayed fervently for something.

And God says no, God allows a tragedy to happen instead, they kind of feel like, what's the point? And as I was sharing with you this morning, Robbie, my dad, who died in 2024 after just a 39-day battle with cancer, he used to tell me I went through a really big struggle spiritually as an early 20s something, just not sure what I believed. And my dad just took me to dinner and said, Hey, listen, there's no stupid questions.

So I hope that our listeners can. Get that in their heads this morning that there's no stupid questions. In fact, the only bad question is the one we don't ask. And so, we want to hear people call in and tell us what are your questions? What are things that you would like to have answered?

Because, as you mentioned, on Hope in the Morning, we're going to be having a conversation with one of our panel pastors, and we're going to be talking about the power of prayer in pain. But we want to open it up to people's honest questions and have a pastor kind of walk us through those things and just be honest, be transparent about what are our struggles when it comes to our prayer life. Right. You know, there therein lies You know Um I love, and again, Justin Gambino is going to be on with us here in a minute. But he speaks of, I need to hear your voice.

Like. How do you experience that? Because prayer is not a one-way, you know, deal. It is, you know, it is. It's critical that you hear his voice, feel his presence.

Experience, you know, his heart, what that may feel like. And so, you know, the really cool thing is, I think you'll see in Justin's. Which we'll have him on here in a minute, in his new album, How He Takes You There. But what about wa what does that do for you and You know, And when I when I get to that the situation that that that really we to some extent I've thought about this a lot this week: that you have needs, and it says, Blessed are the poor in spirit. But when you realize that poor means needy, Right?

Well, you need a doctor if you have a headache to some extent. But man, if you cut off your arm, you really need a doctor. And so that pouring the spirit is a matter of levels. Like, oh, I need him. You know, when things are good, not quite as much like you talked about.

But what I realize, the more I realize is that. When things are good, they're not so good. Yeah.

Unless I really am sharing with that and seeing where that lines up in that. In that whole uh experience and so You know, I love. I love that God's timing was that Justin released this album right now. Mm-hmm. We could title this show Garden of the Lord.

So welcome, Justin. Hey man, how are you? I could not, you blessed my socks off again. Man, you you you literally this songs the the way you set up this EP And I know It's like if you start with the first one, the Master Gardener, and you go through all those different ones, and you end up. With with the sixth Um like, oh my gosh, where it brings you.

What an invitation you give. It's gorgeous. But before I get to you, Justin, which I just have to say that because I'm just running over with like, man, how amazing this this new set is. Tricia, you we are you still with us? I am.

Wonderful, and you sound great.

So, can you give us your thought again? Because it's so beautiful.

Okay, so I'll try to Condense it.

So like my whole life is set of Erge. And from a small child who was taught to pray. And I was where he were co-host is where I would pray in great need or in trouble. But I was also taught to pray faithfully. Every day From my grandma.

And so that didn't come in or twice. Until I became So as a child I would cry out when I see something. And then I would do my Uh what I want am I predicting prayers. Like I'm praying in the morning, pray at night. Ready over your meals.

And then I grew and matured right now. My time of Okay. is every single morning And all My prayer has out become a relationship where I talk to all day long. That's beautiful. specific times where I Phrase him.

and lift him up in glory. in that prayer time. And then there's the time. Or there can be My time is for Not only for myself. For children, I think And that is placing a discount.

There's been many times in my life where I Eight. And I had to wait. Just recently yesterday. After thirty-five years. It all came together.

Hmm.

So learning to wait For his time And what he wants done It'll come about. And you're right, sometimes it says yes.

Okay. I think it's a very good idea. That's beautiful. When I brought it up to uh I said, Lord, it's ten thirty five years at least. And I know that he's dead.

Wh do you want me to wait more? Where does it come about? And There was no answer. But yesterday started as was a twelve hour day. where everything Okay.

And so we have to Encourage listeners that If we think he's saying no and we think it needs dial, And we move ahead. We'll screw up it. Yeah, I Okay. Yeah.

We might have to undo things, rewind things. And learn our lessons. Right. The Israelites waited four hundred years. to leave Egypt.

Right. It's it's a journey and now it's a relationship. I just, there's so many stories I could tell you. about him showing up. Right.

Well getting back to you, Justin. We kind of got in the middle of that one, but we didn't want to miss out on what God might have had for us. But Right, this this new set that you've got is totally an invitation to get exactly where she wants what she was describing, right? Oh yeah. A hundred percent.

And so inquiring minds need to know Mm-hmm. Did you write Master Gardener first, or did you write in the garden and then write the other ones? Or how did all that come together that you. You take the listener from this The beginning of this Yeah. essentially into that very place because there are there are such songs in here.

Like maybe you can kind of describe the set to give us an idea. Yeah, thanks, Robbie. The first song that I wrote was focus.

Okay. And that song came to me Whenever I was about to go out on the road, And I was feeling very anxious. I was worried about all the things that could go wrong. And I was just unable to get out of my own head. And I remember I was just doing simple things around the house.

or ice and glitches. Justin, I hate that music is saying that we've got to go to a break. Can you stay with me in the next segment somehow? Oh, yeah. Oh, that would be awesome because we need to hear all this.

Lord, I center my focus on your word.

So there it is. That's the song. You're going on the road. What a story, Justin Yamino today. Garden of the Lord.

You've got to listen to this whole set to get. Because as as like I said, you start in that and w what is focus, the third song or the second? I I believe it's the third song, Robbie. Yeah, I thought it was too. I thought it was too.

There's some lines in that song. That just gripped me. Because w one of those lines of that particular song Your voice is all I need. Yeah.

Yeah, and that's what I was needing a reminder of that day. I was just.

so consumed with everything that could go wrong on tour. And I wasn't even bringing it to the Lord. I was just stressing about it. And the Lord interfered. By the power of his Holy Spirit.

And he said, Justin, I just need you to say out loud. that you're going to center your focus on the And my face. Because I have this all worked out ahead of you. And I just started doing dishes in the kitchen sink, you know, just normal stuff, man. And I am saying this out loud, but it took two to three hours of me saying it out loud.

before my heart. And my soul could catch up with w m with my mind. And It went from me just saying, Lord, I center my focus on your heart. I center my focus on your face. I was just saying that out loud over and over and over again until it started to become a melody.

Right there at the kitchen sink, I started saying, Lord, I said I'm a fucking On your heart. And it was just a beautiful moment where I put down the dishes and I go pick up the guitar and I just start. Riding it. Oh, it's It Like I said, it it it it There's just lines in there that just really help take you there, and it's just a journey. Um, That helps you know as a worship leader You take people into that garden.

And you made it clear.

So clear. That when we're truly in that place of prayer where you're trying to get to in that focus that you're describing right there, that that's really. Where you meet with him is in that garden. Yeah.

It's so good. I'm so grateful that you guys are hearing that music, and it just you're picking up what I'm hoping people will. Um well You know, just it's just my hope that people get that out of this project, what you're talking about. is just able to focus on him. And and and You know, accept that invitation from him to just walk through a garden and experience a one-on-one with their Heavenly Father.

Yeah, like it it another line that you said was Like But The dew touches the grass, like the grass needs the dew. There's something along that. I I Lord, I depend on you like the grass for the dew. My pasture at the time was on this Sermon series of the Good Shepherd. And he was talking about how the good shepherd would lead the sheep up to the high country to graze on the grass.

And whenever the sheep would eat the grass with the dew on it. They wouldn't have to return to a water source. They would get their nutrition. and water all at the same time. And I was like, Lord, I want to depend on you like that.

Where I don't have to keep going wandering for this or that, what my soul needs, but I can just get it all right here in this one place. I can just depend on you like the grass does for the do. I think a lot of the best lyrics, as I listen to some of these songs, that I just absolutely love the lyrics too, they actually are inspired from sermons, which is pretty incredible. I wonder that often, actually, as I listen to songs, when there's ever lyrics that I'm like, man, that is just so like. Theologically rich.

I wonder if they got that from a sermon. And so to hear you say that, again, hopefully that's encouraging even to the pastors that listen right now, because it's like you don't know how your congregation is absorbing what you're saying and wanting to actually put that into an application. And when you put scripture to music, I really think that, man, it has so much power. Because you think even about little children, the fact that they can memorize things very easily through music. And so when you put rich theology into the lyrics of your music, it's like you're preaching to the people that are listening.

Oh, so beautiful. And So Which song did you write last? The last song that I wrote was Garden of the Lord. I figured we actually wrote Depend on You and Garden of the Lord all in the same writing session. You know, it was an eight-minute song that we felt like.

Hey, this could be two songs. I wonder that and the invitations in the middle, right? The invitations in the middle. Yeah, so depend on you, invitation and garden of the Lord was all written in the same day. And we decided last minute, hey, what if we just Transition.

and change keys. Into the Garden of the Lord, and we'll just make it two songs, make it two tracks, and it turned out beautifully. I really d you know, because the first time I listened to it I wasn't I was Actually, in the shower. And, you know, the invitation went straight into the Garden of the Lord, and I didn't even realize it was a separate.

Okay. Know from depending on it was all like it was all just one moment for me, you know, as I was enjoying it, and I was like, man. And so then when I said Robbie, I love that because that was the goal. My goal was the last three tracks. I wanted to be like an immersive worship set where there's no distraction.

There's no break. It just allows the listener to just enter into that quiet time and secret place with him. And so you see that it went from the third song as focus, right? And it takes you from that focus into that set of the Garden of the Lord, and again, of. But Master Gardner in and of itself is one awesome song, man.

It just is. Oh, thank you. Mm-hmm. So as always, you've wowed me, my friend. Um and you guys got a big release coming, right?

You got a concert or something like on the 28th. Yeah.

I'm actually rallying together all of the songwriters that had a hand in this project. And we're going to be over at uh It's the Christian and Gospel Museum downtown Nashville on the twenty-eighth. Wow, I'm so looking forward to that. I can imagine. I saw the online that you guys were doing that.

So, if you're going to be in Nashville, in fact, I know we got stations at Curious in Knoxville and Nashville. If you're going to be in that area, man, look, I mean, if you just put Justin Gambino in, he's got a great publicist, keeps a lot of stuff out there. Um You can see when that concert's going to be. And so I just looked it up right here as we're sitting here. It took me 10 seconds. I'm like, I gotta hear all his stuff. No. Yeah.

It is so many of his songs, The Father's Heart. It's one of those songs that makes me cry almost every time I listen to it.

Well, and having songs like this, if you've got kids, like I've got four kids, two of which are pre-teen, teenager. And, you know, this is the kind of music I want my kids listening to because you want to combat all the things that they're hearing in the world. You want them to soak and ruminate in truth. And these these are beautiful, beautiful songs with really rich theology and truth behind them. Yeah, and the thing that's so clear, Justin, is you have an amazing personal relationship with the Lord.

And you bring us all there. And It's rich. Thank you, Robbie. That means a lot. Justin, where are you based out of?

I live about an hour south of Houston in Texas. On the way to Galveston. On the way to Galveston, then, Ryan. Yeah, it's well, Galveston's still about a 45-minute drive up the coastline for us.

But the idea is prayer. Like when we pray, we end up in this garden. How spectacular is that? And uh We've been talking, so you may still have that question, that comment about prayer. We would love to hear from you.

Yes, he is. And boy, you got something on your heart today, RK, about these run-flat tires. Most people never heard of them. Yeah, the issue, It started out in 2086 on ponditoring models only. What they did was uh Oh.

called PX PAX system. It's a run flat tire. The rims are to are different. You can't buy regular ribs for them. The regular size target goes on at Is that entire?

Power is 2356516. What? If you put the PAC system on. The tiresy. two thirty five Seven ten R Four six A four six zero a.

Well, the reason I'm talking about this this morning. Is that I have an um oh six Honda Odyssey. that they put tires like this on and they're I bought the car in 2021. From the lady. And uh The tires are on there.

I haven't changed them yet. But now they're dry rot at their owns.

So I look on the net For rims, I need rims. I need to buy rims because I know I can't use them rims.

Well gosh darn it. They sent me the reg sent me the regular rim for the pack system. I I can't use them. The tires for that car is up to $400 a piece. And you could buy the regular tar for one hundred and ten.

Sure. Okay. I I said, why did they put them on her?

Well, I remember years ago I stopped alongside the road and there was a lady that. sitting there and I thought somebody had a health problem. She's had her head down and there was Two frat tires on the back. And I said, are you okay? And she looked up, oh, she said, I was just praying.

Somebody would come along and help me.

Well, I said I don't have Two spares, but I can't I know you have one. Yeah.

Well, we've managed to get it fixed. And she prayed to the Lord And she kept saying to me and thanked me. I said, I didn't want it. I didn't do anything. I just I just helped.

PAC system tires. Don't buy it, folks. This is not a pack. This is not throwing model that I have. It's a regular EX model.

The lady owned the car put them on there. Right. So let me help. Clarify some of this.

So, run flat tires, and like you say, Honda Honda makes them. The beauty of them is that if you have a flat tire, like you're not going to have a blowout. Because there's a tire inside the tower that allows you to continue to run down the road even though you have a flat tire. And so they are phenomenally safe. But they are fine.

phenomenally expensive because you just don't replace the tire. You have to replace The wheel and the tire inside the tire and the tire. And by the time you get all done with that, isn't it around $2,000? Oh, my goodness. Yes, I have.

It's funny you asked I have the bills that this lady spent. In 2013 was 19 Wow. $1,980 that she spent. To replace those four tires, so if you get them, realize that they're phenomenally expensive. But the thing I was thinking about arcade, because we're talking about prayer and being in the garden, right?

That And we're And Emily and I both have experienced this of late, that Things get hard. And God doesn't necessarily, as Trisha talked about, come through and is like, oh, glorious moment, everything's fine, right? It's still difficult in your own health, okay? Right, this minute. You know, from my standpoint, I've been praying, praying, praying hard for you.

I want. you know, to have it all back together, but it isn't always that way. But fascinatingly, like those run flat tires, that prayer helps you keep going in spite of the fact that you have a flat. That's a good analogy. And the Spirit of the Lord is c often considered to be air, right?

And so you we need this air, and if we got run flat p you know, that that idea of of prayer for a l I can't tell you the times, including this morning. Um Where there's a lot going on that I would love to see different However, I I need to be in that regard. Listening to him because in his presence is fullness of joy, in his right hand are pleasures forevermore. You don't get that unless you get in there, right, Emily? Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

Yeah, I think what you're saying too, I was telling you, Robbie, that the verse in Philippians is coming to my mind a lot in this episode. And it says, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, which we were talking about, how we don't always bring everything, we don't always bring our praises, which is that should be the other life breath that we have, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. Let your request be made known to God and the peace of God. Which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. And I've experienced this very recently, and I think you probably have too, Robbie, is that there is this peace that surpasses your understanding.

When you're an unbeliever and you get that flat tire, There is nothing. I mean, you're out of control, right? But when you're a believer, you have a sure and steady anchor, a sure and steady hope that you can cling to. And it gives you this peace because you know God is good and God does good, even if this doesn't feel good. And so there are times that we go through very hard seasons and it does feel like, where are you?

God, why are you not, why aren't you answering me? Why aren't you doing my will? But even Jesus in the garden, Jesus himself, who himself was God, said, not my will, but yours be done, because he knew that ultimately that was the will that was going to accomplish something mighty. And We have to learn to surrender to that, and it hurts a lot of times. But that's what we're called to do: praise Him with open hands.

And oftentimes, we. you know, we cling tightly to the things that are dear to us. And I wish I could remember right this minute the name of the song. It I think it's the second in the set. where he just talks about continually Help me to remember.

Let me not forget. Let me not forget is the name of that song. And it. And let me not forget the scars. Let me not forget.

The bloodstains in the garden, which when you think about those, those came from great You know, his sweat that left these bloodstains in the garden because he was agonizing. over what he knew. Was some really, really, really hard realities of a major blowout, RK. But anyway, RK, thank you, my friend. As always, I hope you get some rest.
